159. this court, after due deliberation,

160. sentences Yvon Targe to three years in prison

163. Take the prisoner away.

164. This court is adjourned.

165. Targe, to the visiting room.

169. We parted without ever having fought.

170. When I get out, I'll work as hard as I can.

171. The three of us will start over.

172. Where are you going? Come back!

191. He was a crook.

192. He lied so casually in court.

193. Unbelievable.

194. It seems he's rich now and gives money to the poor.

196. "You played a nasty trick on me with those counterfeit bills.

197. I played an even nastier one on Yvon.

198. But I forgive you. Accept this check from your former assistant."

200. Incredible.

201. Meat for cigarettes.

202. What are they all staring at?

204. His letters to his wife are being returned.

205. That's not true.

206. We're worried.

207. Another woman who can't live without a man.

208. And some hanky-panky.

209. They'll all the same.

210. Do you know who stole her?

211. I wouldn't advise that.

212. Is he worked up?

213. No, he's calm.

214. In here, a man who's never killed

215. can be more dangerous than a serial killer.

216. You grabbed the skimmer. Then what did you do?

217. Nothing. You think I meant to kill the guard?

218. Yes. What's your version?

219. It's on that paper.

220. You raised the skimmer above his head.

221. If another guard hadn't stepped in, you'd have smashed his skull.

227. 6:00 on the dot.

228. Wednesday or Thursday?

229. Wednesday. Stay calm. I'll be back.

230. Take this.

231. Another?

232. Don't mind me. I always pray for the ones who kill themselves.

233. How are you feeling, Yvon?

234. You should have known you'd be caught.

235. I trusted to luck.

236. The money you stole -

237. Without bloodshed, Your Honor.

238. Was it out of idealism, to redistribute it?

239. I'm a generous man.

240. The court is aware of your opinions,

241. and of your weakness for fancy suits.

242. Do you plead guilty to fraud and theft?

243. Given the circumstances

244. of my so-called thefts, and in accord with new ideas...

245. Just answer our questions.

246. that say there are no rules anymore,

247. I hoped to be acquitted,

248. or, if sentenced, to escape and continue.

249. I fear your words may turn the judges' minds against you.

250. Justice may be against you,

251. but it's your birthright to be like other men.

252. Ever since you've become self-aware

253. and seen how absurdly the world works

254. and the impossibility of it ever changing,

255. what have they told you?

256. "Obey.

257. Stay out of what doesn't concern you.

258. Wait. Everyone will be happy soon."

259. Well, I'm not waiting around for universal happiness,

260. which, believe me, will be boring as hell.

261. I want to be happy now, in my own way.

262. O money, God incarnate,

263. what wouldn't we do for you?

264. Show me your legs.

265. It's mostly a weakness in my knees.

266. It's just the Valium. It'll pass.

267. Is Yvon in there?

268. Is that you?

269. A guy named Lucien says to meet him at mass.

270. Don't go.

271. I'll get you out of here.

272. I'm serious. I know a way.

273. The room where they store the burlap sacks.

274. I have a plan.

275. I'll take care of you to make up for what I did.

276. I swear to God on anything you want.

277. I'd kill you before I'd leave with you.

278. Neither of us is a killer,

279. probably the only ones here with no one on their conscience.

280. You have me on your conscience,

281. and now you'll pay for it.

282. It's him - Lucien.

283. Of course.

284. He bragged openly about tearing his cell apart.

285. We all knew when he'd carry out his plan.

286. His time isn't over.

287. They'll take him to rot in higher-security prisons.

288. We'll never see him again. - I will.

289. Yvon, one takes revenge on those higher up.

290. Why stoop to crushing that louse?

291. You've already been avenged without doing a thing.

292. Someone fond of you protects you from afar.

293. A relative or friend.

294. I have no relatives, no friends...

295. and no wife.

296. "We won't meet again. Yvon, I've decided to begin a new life."

297. Never mind. Just toe the line.

298. You get out soon. I want to see you in good shape.

299. Stop it.

300. You won't smash the door, only your fist.

301. I wouldn't let it humiliate me like that.

302. Couldn't you rebel some simpler way?

303. You're a real pain.

304. Sit down.

305. I'm hungry, but I can go without.

306. Why did you kill?

307. One kills for a reason.

308. It gave me pleasure.

309. I didn't take much, and I already spent it all.

310. I remember every detail.

311. He fell splayed out by the door.

312. She tried to grab the knife.

315. You'll be forgiven.

316. If I were God, if it were up to me, I'd forgive everyone.

317. Don't worry.

318. My sister and her husband, the boy's parents.

319. They use the other door and sleep on that side of the house.

320. I usually make lunch for them too.

321. My other sister doesn't come home every night.

322. Her room's on the top floor.

323. You're good people.

324. I know you won't turn me in.

325. Father, let me by.

326. - I'll tell him to leave. - Let me handle it.

327. Go away, please. - You don't know him.

328. You fool!

329. You deserve -

330. When my husband died, he began drinking

331. and lost his pupils.

332. It's my fault. I couldn't control him.

333. Before that, he was good. He respected his family.

334. Where are you going?

335. I'll be back.

336. And they strike you.

337. You do all the work yourself. You slave away for them.

338. Why not just throw yourself in the river?

339. Do you expect a miracle?

340. I expect nothing.

341. Where's the money?

342. I killed the hotel owners to rob them,

343. and I just killed a whole family.
