2. a race of immortals harnessed
the most powerful force in existence:Copy !req
3. The emerald energy of willpower.Copy !req
4. These immortals,
the Guardians of the Universe...Copy !req
5. built a world from where they could
watch over all of existence:Copy !req
6. The planet Oa.Copy !req
7. They divided the universe
into 3600 sectors.Copy !req
8. A ring powered by the energy of will was
sent to every sector to select a recruit.Copy !req
9. In order to be chosen by the ring,
it was said one must be without fear.Copy !req
10. Together, these 3600 recruits...Copy !req
11. formed the intergalactic peacekeepers
known as the Green Lantern Corps.Copy !req
12. Of all the threats the Corps ever faced...Copy !req
13. the gravest was an entity of fear
known as Parallax.Copy !req
14. Only the legendary Green Lantern
Abin Sur...Copy !req
15. was capable of capturing
and imprisoning this beast...Copy !req
16. which he did on the lost planet of Ryut.Copy !req
17. You are afraid.Copy !req
18. Good.Copy !req
19. - I mean, we go into this every time.
- İt's not every time.Copy !req
20. No, honey. Think back.
Think back. Think back.Copy !req
21. I was fine the last time. I'm usually fine.
I'm fine with your work.Copy !req
22. - Can I just tell you something?
- Of course you can.Copy !req
23. - I'm scared, honey.
- Shh, shh.Copy !req
24. Is everything okay?Copy !req
25. Oh, you know how Mom gets
the night before a test flight.Copy !req
26. But you're not scared, are you, Dad?Copy !req
27. Let's just say it's my job not to be.Copy !req
28. Good night, son.Copy !req
29. Hal, you're gonna be late.Copy !req
30. Good morning, Mom. Gotta go.Copy !req
31. Dad! Dad! Dad!Copy !req
32. - You think she'll break mach 3?
- We'll find out soon enough.Copy !req
33. Hey, shouldn't you be in school?Copy !req
34. Mr. Ferris raised the rear stabilizer.Copy !req
35. Yes, he did.Copy !req
36. The yaw rate gyros are calibrated,
but the pitch is off 2 degrees.Copy !req
37. - I can live with that. How about the INS?
- Good to go.Copy !req
38. - Okay.
- Johnny.Copy !req
39. - Be sure to check the ignition sequences.
- No problem.Copy !req
40. - We did, Carl, twice.
- Right.Copy !req
41. And, uh, the gyros?
Did we do the gyro calibrations?Copy !req
42. Hey, Carl.Copy !req
43. Maybe Hal would like to join Carol
up in your office.Copy !req
44. - The two of them can watch together.
- Come on, young man. Let's go find Carol.Copy !req
45. Hal.Copy !req
46. Keep it warm for me.Copy !req
47. - Hi.
- Oh, hey, Hector.Copy !req
48. Hey. So, um, I have this book.Copy !req
49. It's about the possibility
of life on other planets.Copy !req
50. - Cool.
- Well, it almost has to exist, but...Copy !req
51. - Hal!
- Hey, Carol.Copy !req
52. Hector. You still wanna
trade Hot Wheels?Copy !req
53. Sure.Copy !req
54. Well, look who's here.
Our future test pilot.Copy !req
55. Jacket suits you, son.Copy !req
56. - Hi, Dad.
- Hey.Copy !req
57. I keep telling Hector, books are fun,
but every once in a while...Copy !req
58. it's not such a bad idea to get
out in the world, right, Hal?Copy !req
59. - Hey, Bob.
- The man of the hour.Copy !req
60. Nothing like a first flight
to get the blood boiling, eh, Carl?Copy !req
61. Dad, can we watch
from down in the field?Copy !req
62. - Sure.
- Yes!Copy !req
63. You kids be careful.
Stay with the engineers.Copy !req
64. Go on, son. See it up close.Copy !req
65. That's okay, Dad. I'll be fine.Copy !req
66. Ferris Tower, Sabre One,
ready for take-off.Copy !req
67. Request unrestricted climb,
flight level 450.Copy !req
68. Yes! Yes!Copy !req
69. Sabre One,
unrestricted climb approved.Copy !req
70. On passing 10,000 feet,
contact Ferris Departure.Copy !req
71. You're cleared for take-off.
Good luck, Sabre.Copy !req
72. Whoo! Yeah, Dad!Copy !req
73. Sinestro, I'm traveling at maximum velocity.
Tell Fentara I should...Copy !req
74. Fentara is dead.Copy !req
75. The planet's inhabitants?Copy !req
76. Your mission to evacuate them
is no longer necessary.Copy !req
77. It's just as it was on Talok.Copy !req
78. Every life form destroyed
and their essence absorbed.Copy !req
79. Traces of yellow power everywhere.Copy !req
80. And the Guardians?Copy !req
81. The Guardians are silent.Copy !req
82. I've demanded an audience with them.Copy !req
83. Abin Sur.Copy !req
84. I'm badly wounded.Copy !req
85. Heading to the nearest inhabited planet
for the selection process.Copy !req
86. Tell the Guardians it's Parallax.Copy !req
87. No. No.Copy !req
88. Sorry, I gotta run.
Make yourself at home, okay?Copy !req
89. There's, uh, water in the tap.Copy !req
90. No!Copy !req
91. Yup.Copy !req
92. Asshole.Copy !req
93. The Ferris Sabre lll is state-of-the-art
of artificial-intelligence fighter planes.Copy !req
94. It has all of the flying and combat
capability of a human pilot...Copy !req
95. but with none of the human error
that comes with it.Copy !req
96. Carl isn't just blowing smoke
to get a contract, general.Copy !req
97. Your staff, these contractors, my office...Copy !req
98. we've all been part of this
from the ground up.Copy !req
99. Well, I appreciate that, senator.Copy !req
100. But today the rubber meets the road.Copy !req
101. We have a simulated combat situation.
Two Sabres against Carl's two best pilots.Copy !req
102. Carol. Was gonna do a little flying today.
What do you think?Copy !req
103. I think you're late.Copy !req
104. Yes, but that's only because I slept in.Copy !req
105. I used to sleep in. Then I turned 11.Copy !req
106. Let me give you a little heads-up.Copy !req
107. I've gone up against these Sabres all week
and they smoked me every time.Copy !req
108. There isn't anything you can do that
they can't do better, faster...Copy !req
109. and without disappointing women
everywhere.Copy !req
110. I, uh, think we both know that's not true.Copy !req
111. This is exactly why I didn't want you
for this. My father did.Copy !req
112. I would've gone with Jensen.Copy !req
113. I'd have too, but unfortunately
he's busy not being good enough.Copy !req
114. At least he shows up.Copy !req
115. Hal...Copy !req
116. this test today, it's important.Copy !req
117. I'm gonna make you look good up there.
Don't worry, okay?Copy !req
118. Now let's get these pants off
and fly some planes.Copy !req
119. Highball, weapon check now.Copy !req
120. Roger that.Copy !req
121. - Good morning, Mr. Ferris.
- Morning, everybody.Copy !req
122. Gentlemen.Copy !req
123. - We about ready, Tom?
- Yes, Mr. Ferris. We are go for test.Copy !req
124. Sapphire, cleared weapons hot
at the merge.Copy !req
125. Ferris Test, Sapphire. Weapons are hot.Copy !req
126. Fly safe, Highball.Copy !req
127. Um, no.Copy !req
128. Goddamn it!
Tom, what the hell you feed those things?Copy !req
129. F-35s, what else?Copy !req
130. Wakey, wakey, Sapphire.Copy !req
131. You got a shot,
now would be a great time.Copy !req
132. Easy, Highball. Just lining it up.Copy !req
133. There's no way
we're taking these out solo.Copy !req
134. Get over here.
Let's figure something out.Copy !req
135. On my way, Highball.Copy !req
136. Now stay right there and look real pretty.Copy !req
137. Highball, did you just use your wingman
as a decoy?Copy !req
138. Highball, those Sabres headed up your 6
can fly anywhere you can.Copy !req
139. Then let's go somewhere I can't fly.Copy !req
140. What the hell is he up to?Copy !req
141. Coffin corner.Copy !req
142. Highball, rules of engagement
set ceiling at 50,000 feet.Copy !req
143. Yeah, because the Sabres will stall
if they go any higher, right, Tom?Copy !req
144. And so will you.Copy !req
145. Compressor stall. Compressor stall.Copy !req
146. Yes!Copy !req
147. Um, I mean, damn it, Hal.Copy !req
148. Your boy certainly
takes his job seriously.Copy !req
149. Ailerons, Hal. Side to side.Copy !req
150. I got it.Copy !req
151. Hal.Copy !req
152. Keep it warm for me.Copy !req
153. Going through 25,000.Copy !req
154. Hey, you okay, Highball?Copy !req
155. Yeah, just taking my victory lap.Copy !req
156. - Going through 20,000.
- Okay, Highball, give me some roll.Copy !req
157. Yeah, Dad!Copy !req
158. Hal, do you read me?Copy !req
159. Highball, you're approaching
minimum ejection altitude.Copy !req
160. Highball, you're below 10,000 AGL.
Spin is unrecoverable.Copy !req
161. Eject, eject, eject!Copy !req
162. You're not scared, are you, Dad?Copy !req
163. Let's just say it's my job not to be.Copy !req
164. Dad!Copy !req
165. Dad!Copy !req
166. You stupid son of a bitch. You...Copy !req
167. Stand down, Bob. It doesn't matter now.Copy !req
168. It does matter.Copy !req
169. Never mind that you crashed
a brand-new F-35.Copy !req
170. You broke the rules of engagement.
You sacrificed your wingman.Copy !req
171. And you blew the contract
this company was depending on.Copy !req
172. I'm sorry. I thought this was a dogfight.Copy !req
173. I was under the impression
the objective was to win.Copy !req
174. No, the objective was to show
what the Sabres could do in combat.Copy !req
175. And in combat,
no pilot is gonna crater his own plane.Copy !req
176. I did.Copy !req
177. Now you know you gotta boost the ceiling.
I showed you what they can't do.Copy !req
178. You didn't have to make that point
in front of Air Force Acquisitions.Copy !req
179. That's enough, Carol.Copy !req
180. Since I'm gonna have to lay off most of
my company anyway, you're fired, Hal.Copy !req
181. It's too late. I quit.Copy !req
182. He's not fired and you don't quit.Copy !req
183. You're grounded,
pending the results of an investigation.Copy !req
184. Watch your back.Copy !req
185. That's impossible, Bob.Copy !req
186. - Tell me what happened.
- Controls locked up.Copy !req
187. Don't give me that, Hal. You had a
window when you could've recovered.Copy !req
188. Did you choke?Copy !req
189. You wouldn't be the first,
but I need to know.Copy !req
190. My controls locked up.
What the hell is all this, anyway?Copy !req
191. What's with the ridiculous suit?Copy !req
192. - I know your dad's been bucking for you...
- The merits of my career choices...Copy !req
193. You're a pilot, and a good one.
Giving that up to fly a desk is bullshit.Copy !req
194. I like it and I'm good at it.Copy !req
195. Doesn't mean I'll never get in a cockpit
again. It isn't one way or the other.Copy !req
196. That's the way a child looks at things,
and we aren't children anymore.Copy !req
197. At least...Copy !req
198. I just don't wanna see
someone I care about getting hurt.Copy !req
199. Least of all you.Copy !req
200. Choose well.Copy !req
201. A test pilot's daring maneuvers
almost ended in tragedy.Copy !req
202. Witnesses say pilot Hal Jordan
ejected at the last possible second...Copy !req
203. before his jet crashed
in the open desert.Copy !req
204. He's the son of the late Martin Jordan...Copy !req
205. who was killed in his own
ill-fated test flight back in 1993.Copy !req
206. We are told that Hal Jordan
is doing fine right now...Copy !req
207. though we have yet to hear
an official statement.Copy !req
208. Hey, guys.Copy !req
209. The incident has been a blow
to a new high-tech aircraft program...Copy !req
210. Hey. How was work?Copy !req
211. Oh. It was amazing, Jack.
Thank you for asking. Hey, Janice.Copy !req
212. Just help me out here, because
I'm really trying to understand this.Copy !req
213. - Mm-hm.
- Do you wanna be like him so bad?Copy !req
214. - You just assume it's my fault.
- I talked to Carl.Copy !req
215. - Oh. Heh, heh.
- You pushed the plane past its limits...Copy !req
216. That's my job. It was an accident.
Everybody walked away.Copy !req
217. Like your motorcycle accident
that put you in the hospital for a month?Copy !req
218. I miss all this quality family time.
Good talk, Jack.Copy !req
219. Where's Jason?Copy !req
220. In his room.Copy !req
221. Why?Copy !req
222. Hey, it's Uncle Hal.Copy !req
223. What's up there, ace?Copy !req
224. This is the worst 11th birthday party
I've ever been to.Copy !req
225. No dancing girls?
What's going on... ? Hey.Copy !req
226. Hey.Copy !req
227. I'm fine.Copy !req
228. I guess I got a little freaked out
or something.Copy !req
229. It happens.Copy !req
230. Not to you.Copy !req
231. Look...Copy !req
232. you don't have anything
to worry about.Copy !req
233. You wanna know why?Copy !req
234. Yeah, I may be a total screw-up
in every other part of my life...Copy !req
235. but the one thing I do know
how to do is fly.Copy !req
236. You know, I used to know this kid.Copy !req
237. Was a funny-looking little bastard.Copy !req
238. One day, he's standing on the mound,
and he throws a perfect game.Copy !req
239. That... That was me.Copy !req
240. That was you?Copy !req
241. Thought you looked familiar.Copy !req
242. You were totally in the zone that day.
Remember?Copy !req
243. - I still dream about it.
- I bet.Copy !req
244. Take it.Copy !req
245. Close your eyes.Copy !req
246. Go on.Copy !req
247. Now...Copy !req
248. can you remember
exactly how you felt that day?Copy !req
249. That's how I feel when I'm flying.Copy !req
250. Like that plane is a part of me.Copy !req
251. No, it's like,
no matter how bad things get...Copy !req
252. there's something good out there...Copy !req
253. just over the horizon.Copy !req
254. I could really feel it.Copy !req
255. Yeah.Copy !req
256. Me too.Copy !req
257. Hey, got you something, birthday boy.
Wrapped it myself.Copy !req
258. Cool. It's an X-1, right?Copy !req
259. It's a Starfighter. My dad gave me that.Copy !req
260. Let's put it up.Copy !req
261. What happened today?Copy !req
262. I mean, when you crashed.Copy !req
263. Not really sure, exactly.Copy !req
264. Were you scared?Copy !req
265. It's my job not to be.Copy !req
266. You know, you're totally missing
your super-lame birthday party.Copy !req
267. Beat it. Go, go, go!Copy !req
268. I'm glad you're okay.Copy !req
269. Me too, ace.Copy !req
270. Get off! No!Copy !req
271. Aah! No!Copy !req
272. Come on, stay with me. Stay with me.
I'm gonna get you some help.Copy !req
273. You're gonna be okay.
You're gonna be okay. Okay, hold on.Copy !req
274. Your name. Your name.Copy !req
275. It's Hal. Hal Jordan.Copy !req
276. Hal Jordan, I am Abin Sur,
protector of Sector 2814.Copy !req
277. Okay, hey, listen.Copy !req
278. We're gonna get you to a hospital, okay?
Okay? One that carries purple blood.Copy !req
279. The ring...Copy !req
280. it chose you.Copy !req
281. Take it!Copy !req
282. Place the ring in the lantern.Copy !req
283. Place the ring, speak the oath...Copy !req
284. - What?
- Great honor, responsibility...Copy !req
285. I don't understand.
Breathe. You gotta breathe, okay?Copy !req
286. All you gotta do is breathe.
Just breathe, okay?Copy !req
287. Hey, hey, hey. No, no, no.
Hey, hey.Copy !req
288. Hey, hey, hey. Come on, man.
No, no, no, don't do that.Copy !req
289. Hey, now, don't do that.Copy !req
290. Oh, come on.Copy !req
291. X-97 systems check complete.Copy !req
292. Yo.Copy !req
293. Come again?Copy !req
294. Hmm.Copy !req
295. Is that a spaceship?Copy !req
296. Yeah.Copy !req
297. Is it real?Copy !req
298. It's real.Copy !req
299. Did you see what kind of power source
this thing uses?Copy !req
300. - Do you understand...?
- We can't stay.Copy !req
301. - We can't stay here.
- What?Copy !req
302. - Gotta go.
- What?Copy !req
303. Pilot.Copy !req
304. He wore a uniform.
I think he was a soldier.Copy !req
305. He gave me this.Copy !req
306. He proposed?Copy !req
307. We're gone. We're gone, now!Copy !req
308. They're gonna know someone was there.
Alien pilots don't bury themselves.Copy !req
309. I couldn't just leave him there.Copy !req
310. I hope this thing isn't radioactive.Copy !req
311. - Yeah, well, you're the genius. You... Aah!
- Aah!Copy !req
312. - Jesus!
- Aah! Whoa!Copy !req
313. Got it!Copy !req
314. He said that the ring chose me.Copy !req
315. He said it was a great honor.
Responsibility.Copy !req
316. Responsibility?Copy !req
317. - Yeah.
- You?Copy !req
318. Well, maybe on their planet
"responsibility" just means "asshole."Copy !req
319. Let's hope so.Copy !req
320. A great light has gone out
in the universe.Copy !req
321. Abin Sur is dead.Copy !req
322. Four of my Lantern brothers killed.Copy !req
323. The inhabitants of two worlds
annihilated by an unknown enemy.Copy !req
324. An enemy that possesses
the yellow power of fear.Copy !req
325. We know it originated from
within the Lost Sector.Copy !req
326. We know it grows more powerful
with each encounter.Copy !req
327. According to Abin Sur's last transmission,
he seemed to know what it was.Copy !req
328. His only words were, "It's Parallax."Copy !req
329. We are aware of the threat.
We are assessing the situation.Copy !req
330. While you assess,
innocent lives will be lost.Copy !req
331. Let me take the fight to this enemy.Copy !req
332. There is much of which
you are not aware, Sinestro.Copy !req
333. If the danger is as great as we suspect...Copy !req
334. What are you saying?Copy !req
335. You believe this enemy can defeat us?Copy !req
336. Guardians, if your faith in our power
has faltered, let me renew it.Copy !req
337. Let me take a squadron of my strongest
Lanterns against this enemy...Copy !req
338. and I'll prove to you
our best days are not behind us.Copy !req
339. Dr. Hammond?Copy !req
340. Dr. Hector Hammond?Copy !req
341. We need to ask you to come with us.Copy !req
342. Did Adam put you up to this?Copy !req
343. Get out of the car, please.Copy !req
344. Whoa.Copy !req
345. Dr. Hammond?Copy !req
346. Dr. Amanda Waller.Copy !req
347. I must apologize for the theatrics,
but the government does like its protocols.Copy !req
348. Please, follow me.Copy !req
349. Is that what I think it is?Copy !req
350. An alien life form, doctor.Copy !req
351. The first that mankind
has ever encountered...Copy !req
352. despite what the conspiracy theorists
would have you believe.Copy !req
353. We want you to do the initial assessment
of its physiology.Copy !req
354. My God.Copy !req
355. Why me?Copy !req
356. As a xenobiologist, your skills are
specifically suited to the task.Copy !req
357. Beyond that...Copy !req
358. I'm not at liberty to tell you.Copy !req
359. Hello.Copy !req
360. The eyes, nose, ears and mouth
are humanoid.Copy !req
361. In the left anterior thoracic region
is a 10-centimeter wound...Copy !req
362. with jagged edges containing attached
cyanotic-colored coagulum.Copy !req
363. Okay, all right.Copy !req
364. Place the ring, then speak the oath.Copy !req
365. The oath.Copy !req
366. Because everybody knows the oath.Copy !req
367. Used to sing it in camp.Copy !req
368. I, Hal Jordan...Copy !req
369. do solemnly swear...Copy !req
370. to pledge allegiance...Copy !req
371. to a lantern...Copy !req
372. that I got from a dying purple alien...Copy !req
373. in a swamp.Copy !req
374. The epidermis is magenta.Copy !req
375. It appears transparent
and is extremely thin...Copy !req
376. allowing visualization of muscles
and individual muscle fibers.Copy !req
377. "To infinity and beyond."Copy !req
378. "By the power of Grayskull."Copy !req
379. What the hell?Copy !req
380. If you can fly me 100 miles in the middle
of nowhere, you'd think that you...Copy !req
381. No!Copy !req
382. In brightest day, in blackest night...Copy !req
383. no evil shall escape my sight.Copy !req
384. Let those who worship evil's might...Copy !req
385. beware my power:Copy !req
386. Green Lantern's light.Copy !req
387. Carol.Copy !req
388. - Everything okay in there?
- It's fine.Copy !req
389. Well, can I come in?Copy !req
390. No.Copy !req
391. Yeah, no, because we're...
Uh, do you wanna get a drink?Copy !req
392. - Can we talk?
- Yeah.Copy !req
393. We can talk and drink.Copy !req
394. - My initial analysis.
- Thank you, doctor.Copy !req
395. I don't need to tell you that the mere fact
that it's humanoid is extraordinary.Copy !req
396. It's indicating a convergent evolution,
or perhaps a common ancestry...Copy !req
397. and the implications of that
are staggering.Copy !req
398. I mean, where did it come from?Copy !req
399. This could completely change the way
that the world views itself.Copy !req
400. You imagine the way that the public
will react to this?Copy !req
401. Um, but I know that
that won't happen. I do.Copy !req
402. Like yourself, doctor,
I'm a seeker of truth.Copy !req
403. But the people who pay for facilities
like this...Copy !req
404. have other priorities
and the power to enforce them.Copy !req
405. So I keep it a secret.Copy !req
406. People like us have to work
within the system, doctor.Copy !req
407. We do the best we can.Copy !req
408. Right.Copy !req
409. Pick that up.Copy !req
410. I, um...Copy !req
411. I'm really sorry.Copy !req
412. Did you just apologize?Copy !req
413. You haven't been replaced by an alien
or something?Copy !req
414. No.Copy !req
415. I'm good.Copy !req
416. Ah. I'm good.Copy !req
417. I'm good, totally good. Uh...Copy !req
418. Do you think I'm irresponsible?Copy !req
419. No need to answer. That's fine.Copy !req
420. Hal. Ha, ha.Copy !req
421. You look pretty.Copy !req
422. And we haven't been in this place
together since...Copy !req
423. that night.Copy !req
424. - You forgot it was my birthday.
- Did l?Copy !req
425. Mm.Copy !req
426. That was also the night...
The first time that we ever...Copy !req
427. flew together.Copy !req
428. You've been flying ever since
with anyone who'd get in the plane.Copy !req
429. Oh, yeah.Copy !req
430. - Oh, no.
- Come on.Copy !req
431. - No, yeah, let's go.
- Mm-mm.Copy !req
432. - Dance with me.
- No.Copy !req
433. No.Copy !req
434. Hal. No.Copy !req
435. No.Copy !req
436. I really am sorry.Copy !req
437. Oh. It's okay.
The contract isn't quite dead yet.Copy !req
438. I told you I was good at this.Copy !req
439. I wasn't talking about the contract.Copy !req
440. I would've screwed this up. You know?Copy !req
441. Even if I didn't go to the Air Force...Copy !req
442. I would've found some way to...Copy !req
443. - You and me, I would've blown it.
- Yeah, is that what you tell yourself?Copy !req
444. Mm. What do you tell yourself?Copy !req
445. That you were scared
I was getting too close.Copy !req
446. You know what I spent
my afternoon doing?Copy !req
447. What?Copy !req
448. Worrying about you.Copy !req
449. I went over every inch of the flight data.
There was nothing wrong with the plane.Copy !req
450. - What happened up there?
- Thanks for the dance.Copy !req
451. I told you to watch your back.Copy !req
452. You cost us all our jobs,
you son of a bitch.Copy !req
453. Pathetic.Copy !req
454. Bastard's been living off his old man's
reputation his whole life.Copy !req
455. Hey.Copy !req
456. Hey!Copy !req
457. My face is just getting warmed up.Copy !req
458. Whoa.Copy !req
459. Have you concluded admiring yourself?Copy !req
460. Uh...Copy !req
461. Yeah.Copy !req
462. Well, your ring translator
is functioning properly.Copy !req
463. Your mask will appear when protection
of your identity is required.Copy !req
464. There is no need for it on Oa.Copy !req
465. A talking fish.Copy !req
466. Actually, my race is Xudarian.Copy !req
467. Our DNA does somewhat resemble
your own ichthyological species.Copy !req
468. I am Tomar-Re, protector of Sector 2813
and home to...Copy !req
469. 80,012 galaxies,
2.34 million sentient species.Copy !req
470. How do I know that?Copy !req
471. The induction process.Copy !req
472. It activates the ring's higher functions,
including a working knowledge base.Copy !req
473. In truth, we were curious.Copy !req
474. The process had never been attempted on
a species as young as humans before.Copy !req
475. As you are the first to be chosen,
I've been sent to welcome you here.Copy !req
476. And here is?Copy !req
477. Welcome to Oa.Copy !req
478. This planet has been our home
for countless millennia.Copy !req
479. It was created for us by the Guardians.Copy !req
480. Guardians?Copy !req
481. There stands their Citadel.Copy !req
482. They are immortals,
among the most ancient of races.Copy !req
483. They made all you see
and are responsible for all we are and do.Copy !req
484. Since time immemorial,
the Green Lantern Corps...Copy !req
485. has served as the keepers of peace,
order and justice throughout the universe.Copy !req
486. To be chosen to join its ranks
is the highest of honors...Copy !req
487. and the greatest of responsibilities.Copy !req
488. Yeah. Yeah, that part I heard about.Copy !req
489. We're going to fly now.Copy !req
490. - Fly?
- Absolutely.Copy !req
491. All right.Copy !req
492. I can do that.Copy !req
493. Join me.Copy !req
494. I can do that.Copy !req
495. Yeah!Copy !req
496. Whoa!Copy !req
497. What is that?Copy !req
498. İt's the energy
that's generated from the Central Battery.Copy !req
499. Its power comes from the will
of every living creature in the universe.Copy !req
500. It, in turn, charges your lantern,
which, in turn, charges your ring.Copy !req
501. Even your suit is comprised
entirely of energy.Copy !req
502. What's with all the green?Copy !req
503. Green is the color of will.Copy !req
504. The Guardians harnessed will...Copy !req
505. because it's the strongest
source of energy in the universe.Copy !req
506. There's so many.Copy !req
507. The stars you can see from
your home planet on the clearest night...Copy !req
508. your sector is a thousand times larger.Copy !req
509. And 3600 Lanterns,
each with a sector just as vast.Copy !req
510. Lanterns, I've called you here
to this unprecedented gathering...Copy !req
511. because we face
an unprecedented danger.Copy !req
512. Our four Lantern brothers
were killed by an enemy called Parallax.Copy !req
513. An enemy we don't yet fully understand.Copy !req
514. We do know it's powerful enough
to destroy entire civilizations.Copy !req
515. Powerful enough
to defeat even Abin Sur...Copy !req
516. our finest warrior...Copy !req
517. whose light can never be replaced.Copy !req
518. The Guardians have charged me
to lead a squadron of Lanterns...Copy !req
519. in an assault on Parallax.Copy !req
520. We will seek out and find this enemy.Copy !req
521. And we will destroy it.Copy !req
522. Alone, we are now vulnerable.Copy !req
523. United, we are still invincible.Copy !req
524. We have never been defeated.Copy !req
525. Will we be defeated now?Copy !req
526. No!Copy !req
527. It was for this moment
that we were created.Copy !req
528. But I don't need to tell you your duty.Copy !req
529. I don't need to tell you who we are.Copy !req
530. We are the Corps! We are the Corps!Copy !req
531. We are the Corps! We are the Corps!Copy !req
532. Your will turns thought into reality.Copy !req
533. To master the ring,
you must learn to focus your will...Copy !req
534. and create what you see in your mind.Copy !req
535. The ring's limits
are only what you can imagine.Copy !req
536. Do that again.Copy !req
537. Now you try.Copy !req
538. Concentrate.Copy !req
539. The ring will inform you
where there is an imminent threat.Copy !req
540. This particular threat's name is Kilowog.Copy !req
541. He'll be your combat training officer.Copy !req
542. - Whoa!
- Never let your guard down, poozer.Copy !req
543. Welcome to Ring Slinging 101.Copy !req
544. Or as I like to call it:Copy !req
545. The worst day of your worthless life.Copy !req
546. The human. Ain't never seen one before.Copy !req
547. - You smell funny.
- Ugh.Copy !req
548. I smell funny?Copy !req
549. Yeah, I heard about humans.
Think you're the center of the universe.Copy !req
550. You want to be a Lantern?Copy !req
551. You gotta commit to the Corps.Copy !req
552. All right, poozer.
Let's see what you've got.Copy !req
553. Your constructs are only gonna be
as strong as your will.Copy !req
554. And your will is pathetic.Copy !req
555. I'm gonna work you
and I'm gonna hit you...Copy !req
556. until your will is strong enough
to be worthy of the Corps.Copy !req
557. Next lesson.Copy !req
558. Ha, ha. Feel that?Copy !req
559. It's the gravitational pull
of your average sun.Copy !req
560. Makes flying through space
very dangerous.Copy !req
561. The bigger you are,
the quicker you burn.Copy !req
562. Gravity's a bitch.Copy !req
563. Here, let me help you.Copy !req
564. Remember, your enemy,
he's not gonna play fair.Copy !req
565. Well, that's good advice.
Thanks, gorgeous.Copy !req
566. So...Copy !req
567. this is the human.Copy !req
568. When I learned Abin Sur's ring
had chosen you...Copy !req
569. I said there had to be a mistake.Copy !req
570. I see nothing to change my mind.Copy !req
571. I'll take it from here, Kilowog.Copy !req
572. The Corps is only as strong
as its weakest link.Copy !req
573. And I will tolerate no weak links.Copy !req
574. You understand me?Copy !req
575. Are you afraid, human?Copy !req
576. Are you afraid?Copy !req
577. Don't.Copy !req
578. Don't do that.Copy !req
579. Shall we?Copy !req
580. Sure.Copy !req
581. A sword?Copy !req
582. How human.Copy !req
583. I do believe I smell fear.Copy !req
584. I'm a Green Lantern.Copy !req
585. I fear nothing.Copy !req
586. Fear is the enemy of will.Copy !req
587. Will is what makes you take action.Copy !req
588. Fear is what stops you
and makes you weak.Copy !req
589. Makes your constructs feeble.Copy !req
590. You must ignore your fear.
When you're afraid, you can't act.Copy !req
591. When you can't act, you can't defend.
If you can't defend, you die.Copy !req
592. You reek of fear, Hal Jordan.Copy !req
593. Abin Sur was a great warrior.Copy !req
594. My mentor.Copy !req
595. My friend.Copy !req
596. You insult his memory
by wearing his ring.Copy !req
597. I'm done. He's right. I'm only human.
We're not ready to defend the universe.Copy !req
598. A few days ago, we thought we were
the only ones in the universe.Copy !req
599. The ring chose you. It wouldn't have
if it hadn't seen something in you.Copy !req
600. Oh, yeah?Copy !req
601. Something you yourself don't yet see.Copy !req
602. The ring never makes a mistake.Copy !req
603. This time it did.Copy !req
604. That until
recently, we didn't realize...Copy !req
605. that many of these little critters that we've
been calling bacteria weren't bacteria at all.Copy !req
606. They were an entirely different type
of primitive prokaryotic cell.Copy !req
607. These little buggers, called archaeans,
are still poorly understood.Copy !req
608. Um...Copy !req
609. But might turn out to be
different from bacteria...Copy !req
610. But might turn out to be as different
from bacteria as bacteria is from us.Copy !req
611. Some call them extremophiles...Copy !req
612. because they live in the most extreme
environments on Earth, such as...Copy !req
613. God, he's so boring.Copy !req
614. the boiling waters of a geyser.Copy !req
615. What a loser.Copy !req
616. - Michael!
- Huh?Copy !req
617. What did you say?Copy !req
618. I didn't say anything.Copy !req
619. Did you just call me a loser?Copy !req
620. What kind of freak is this guy?Copy !req
621. "Freak"?Copy !req
622. Class dismissed.Copy !req
623. So how you been?Copy !req
624. Been a while.Copy !req
625. So you had a rough night last night.
Did you get her name, huh?Copy !req
626. You need to get some sleep, son.Copy !req
627. - Have a seat.
- What can I do for you, Dad?Copy !req
628. Well, actually, you've already done it.Copy !req
629. For me and for your country.Copy !req
630. What are you talking about?Copy !req
631. I'm talking about you impressing
a whole lot of very important people.Copy !req
632. Where did you get that?Copy !req
633. I'm on a subcommittee
overseeing the agencies involved.Copy !req
634. - Top-secret, of course.
- Lt was you. That's why they chose me.Copy !req
635. Because of this, we're gonna be able
to get you a top post on the inside now...Copy !req
636. helping to oversee the operation.Copy !req
637. There are scientists
that worked their whole lives for this.Copy !req
638. - Mm-hm.
- People more qualified.Copy !req
639. And less connected.Copy !req
640. Don't be naive, son.
It's the way the world works.Copy !req
641. You have to seize an opportunity
when it presents itself.Copy !req
642. He'll never get it.Copy !req
643. Just wasting his life away.Copy !req
644. What an embarrassment.Copy !req
645. Bill! Ha. How are you?Copy !req
646. I'm terrific.Copy !req
647. No, no, no. Just finishing up a meeting.
Got plenty of time.Copy !req
648. With my own eyes I saw this creature
induce fear in our finest warriors...Copy !req
649. and then feed on that fear.Copy !req
650. There's more.Copy !req
651. We've tracked its trajectory.
Parallax is headed for Oa.Copy !req
652. Never before has an enemy
dared attack us here.Copy !req
653. You must tell me what you know.Copy !req
654. Will has always been our sole weapon...Copy !req
655. against the forces of darkness
in the universe.Copy !req
656. But as that power began to seem
insufficient...Copy !req
657. a great debate arose among us.Copy !req
658. Should we exploit
another source of power...Copy !req
659. one we had long since sworn
should never be used?Copy !req
660. Fear.Copy !req
661. But the power of fear
was too unpredictable.Copy !req
662. The chance of corruption too great.Copy !req
663. And so we decided against it.Copy !req
664. All of us, that is, except one.Copy !req
665. Alone, this Guardian
entered the forbidden chamber.Copy !req
666. He wanted to prove the light of fear
could be mastered.Copy !req
667. His intentions were pure...Copy !req
668. but his hopes were naive.Copy !req
669. Consumed by the yellow power of fear...Copy !req
670. the Guardian became the very evil
he had wished to destroy.Copy !req
671. He became Parallax.Copy !req
672. For the universe's safety and his own...Copy !req
673. Abin Sur was charged with
imprisoning Parallax in the Lost Sector.Copy !req
674. But he escaped.Copy !req
675. Feeding on the fear of others,
he grew larger, more powerful.Copy !req
676. And is now headed here...Copy !req
677. to take his revenge on you
and destroy the Corps.Copy !req
678. Then we have no choice.Copy !req
679. We must prepare to harness the power
of our enemy and fight fear with fear.Copy !req
680. To protect our sectors,
we must be able to defend ourselves.Copy !req
681. We must forge a yellow ring.Copy !req
682. Watch your step.Copy !req
683. - Senator.
- Senator.Copy !req
684. Don't have to worry about me no moreCopy !req
685. I'm goneCopy !req
686. I'm gone, I'm gone.Copy !req
687. Hello.Copy !req
688. Hi.Copy !req
689. Everybody get on your feet.Copy !req
690. You make me nervous
When you're in your seat.Copy !req
691. Rough night, huh?Copy !req
692. Hector.Copy !req
693. How you doing?
What have you been up to?Copy !req
694. - Same old, same old.
- Yeah. Me too.Copy !req
695. Hal Jordan. Worst pilot I've ever seen.
Or the best. Not quite sure.Copy !req
696. I've been called both.Copy !req
697. - Glad you could make it, son.
- I was a little surprised I got the invite.Copy !req
698. No, you're family, Hal.Copy !req
699. There are thinkers in this world
and there are doers.Copy !req
700. And you are one of the doers.Copy !req
701. Yeah, but the thinkers
make what I do possible.Copy !req
702. Wouldn't have a plane
unless someone thought it up.Copy !req
703. Of course.Copy !req
704. Excuse me, I need a drink.Copy !req
705. - I gotta get back to work. This is work.
- Yes, sir.Copy !req
706. - Nice to see you, son.
- You too. You too.Copy !req
707. Nice.Copy !req
708. Yeah, my dad used to train in it.Copy !req
709. I was talking about your dress.Copy !req
710. Nice jacket.Copy !req
711. Last time I checked,
you didn't even own one.Copy !req
712. Yeah, I've been shaking up
the wardrobe lately.Copy !req
713. Congratulations on the contract.
How'd you manage to pull that off?Copy !req
714. I pointed out you only won because you
broke the rules of engagement.Copy !req
715. And Tom figured out
how to give the Sabres more altitude.Copy !req
716. So I guess in a way,
without even meaning to...Copy !req
717. you actually did us a favor.Copy !req
718. Look...Copy !req
719. I'm uncomfortable
with the word "hero."Copy !req
720. Hey.Copy !req
721. Thank you. Thank you all for joining us.Copy !req
722. Great evening.Copy !req
723. Somebody very special I'd like to thank
for helping us to nail this contract:Copy !req
724. My daughter, Carol Ferris.Copy !req
725. Come on!Copy !req
726. Congratulations, Carol.Copy !req
727. I take one look at you, young lady...Copy !req
728. or at Hal Jordan over there,
spitting image of his dad...Copy !req
729. - Whoo!
- You give us hope.Copy !req
730. A toast to our future.Copy !req
731. - Hear, hear!
- To the future!Copy !req
732. We're in good hands.Copy !req
733. Hector! Oh, my God! Hey!Copy !req
734. - Congratulations. Um...
- Thank you.Copy !req
735. Here's to you and Hal, the future.Copy !req
736. Yeah, heh, I'm sorry.Copy !req
737. I know it couldn't have been easy
growing up with your dad.Copy !req
738. But, hey, you're doing great, so... Ha, ha.Copy !req
739. I am. I'm doing great. Ha, ha.Copy !req
740. - He's right, though. I'm not a doer.
- Ha, ha.Copy !req
741. Although I did get to examine
an alien body recently.Copy !req
742. That was very cool.Copy !req
743. I can't tell anyone about it,
but, hey, you can't have everything.Copy !req
744. Hector telling you another
of his science-fiction stories?Copy !req
745. What the hell's wrong with him?Copy !req
746. Can't keep his mouth shut.Copy !req
747. You really do have
a creative imagination.Copy !req
748. Bye.Copy !req
749. Senator.Copy !req
750. I apologize. We really must go.Copy !req
751. - Good night, Carol.
- Good night.Copy !req
752. Senator!Copy !req
753. Hey.Copy !req
754. Thanks for everything.Copy !req
755. Bye, senator!Copy !req
756. Get the crash crew here.
Our helicopter's going down.Copy !req
757. Oh, my God.Copy !req
758. What is that? What is that?Copy !req
759. What happened tonight took place
in just a matter of seconds...Copy !req
760. but people will be talking about it
for years to come.Copy !req
761. A helicopter careening out of control,
headed toward certain tragedy...Copy !req
762. when all of a sudden, a mystery man,
a hero, saves the day...Copy !req
763. incredibly diverting the helicopter
from destroying innocent people...Copy !req
764. and miraculously rescuing Carol Ferris.Copy !req
765. The real question tonight is who is this
amazing hero and where is he now?Copy !req
766. Start talking.Copy !req
767. - A racetrack?
- Yeah.Copy !req
768. Hmm.Copy !req
769. That's the best you could come up with
for your first big appearance? Racetrack.Copy !req
770. Oh, I'm sorry. Did I disappoint you?Copy !req
771. I materialized a track out of pure energy,
saving hundreds, and you're disappointed.Copy !req
772. I'm sorry about that.Copy !req
773. No, I wanna see this stuff. Show me.Copy !req
774. I don't think that's a good idea.Copy !req
775. Come on, I wanna see this stuff.Copy !req
776. I wanna see the outfit, the flying...
You gotta show me.Copy !req
777. Hal, being your best friend's no picnic.Copy !req
778. - It's for emergencies!
- You owe me!Copy !req
779. Hal, I wanna see it.Copy !req
780. Fine.Copy !req
781. Hold on to your glasses.Copy !req
782. All right.Copy !req
783. - You ready to have your mind blown?
- Yeah.Copy !req
784. Ring.Copy !req
785. Finger.Copy !req
786. Here we go.Copy !req
787. - Did you break it already?
- I didn't break it, okay? It's just...Copy !req
788. It's out of juice. I have to recharge it.Copy !req
789. Now pay attention.Copy !req
790. Aah! Green!Copy !req
791. - Wow.
- I know, right?Copy !req
792. Whoo!Copy !req
793. Not bad, huh?Copy !req
794. You're a superhero.Copy !req
795. Don't they always get the girl?Copy !req
796. Evening, ma'am.Copy !req
797. Didn't get a chance to say goodbye.Copy !req
798. Are you okay?Copy !req
799. Uh, yeah, no,
I'm glad to have a chance to thank you.Copy !req
800. Just doing my job.
No thanks necessary, miss.Copy !req
801. No, it is.Copy !req
802. You saved my life.Copy !req
803. You saved all of our lives.
That was a very...Copy !req
804. Hal?Copy !req
805. Miss?Copy !req
806. Hal?Copy !req
807. Oh, my Go... Oh, my God!Copy !req
808. - Oh, my God! Hal!
- How did you know it was me?Copy !req
809. What? I've known you my whole life!
I've seen you naked!Copy !req
810. You don't think I would recognize you
because I can't see your cheekbones?Copy !req
811. What is this? Why is your skin green?
Why are you glowing?Copy !req
812. What the hell is with that mask?Copy !req
813. It came with the outfit.Copy !req
814. Cool, huh?Copy !req
815. So it all works
because of this magic ring? Ha, ha.Copy !req
816. No, there's no such thing as magic.Copy !req
817. Intergalactic green peacekeepers,
thousands of them.Copy !req
818. - Ha, ha.
- But, no.Copy !req
819. I'm not making it up.Copy !req
820. I mean, when we were kids,
who'd have thought?Copy !req
821. - I did, actually. I called this early on.
- Ha-ha-ha.Copy !req
822. I said, "One day I'll be a
green space cop." Here I am.Copy !req
823. Okay, so at the party, how did you
make that big green ramp thing?Copy !req
824. Anything I see in my mind, I can create.
I just have to focus.Copy !req
825. Anything?Copy !req
826. Anything.Copy !req
827. Happy birthday. Better late than never.Copy !req
828. Um...Copy !req
829. Okay, so how does it work?Copy !req
830. They just, um, call you on your cell,
"Cat in a tree, downtown Milky Way"?Copy !req
831. No. I don't think it works
exactly like that.Copy !req
832. Well, technically speaking, um...Copy !req
833. I actually sort of, uh...Copy !req
834. quit.Copy !req
835. What do you mean? How?Copy !req
836. Well, I mean, it's a lot like quitting
anything else, really.Copy !req
837. I don't understand.Copy !req
838. How do you walk away
from something like that?Copy !req
839. Is that even possible?Copy !req
840. Oh, I think we both know
I'm pretty good at walking away.Copy !req
841. If for once you didn't quit something
you cared about...Copy !req
842. what's the worst that could happen?Copy !req
843. Well, thank you.
This has been really something.Copy !req
844. - I know I've made a lot of mistakes...
- Look, Hal, I'm not mad at you.Copy !req
845. I feel bad for you, really.Copy !req
846. You've been given so much so often.Copy !req
847. And you just...Copy !req
848. Good night.Copy !req
849. Dr. Hammond?Copy !req
850. There is something I'd like to show you.Copy !req
851. Something I'm fairly certain
you'll want to see.Copy !req
852. See you later, Mom.Copy !req
853. - I love you.
- Bye, baby.Copy !req
854. No!Copy !req
855. Physical contact
accesses mnemonic data.Copy !req
856. I can see your memories.Copy !req
857. Dad.Copy !req
858. Son, this is my fault.Copy !req
859. But I'm gonna fix it.Copy !req
860. We're gonna get you well again.
Whatever it takes.Copy !req
861. I don't know what you're talking about.Copy !req
862. We detected traces
of a second alien life form...Copy !req
863. buried within the body of the first.Copy !req
864. You've been exposed.Copy !req
865. I've never felt better in my life.Copy !req
866. We know everything, son.Copy !req
867. I've never felt better in my life.Copy !req
868. To be chosen to join its ranks
is the highest of honors...Copy !req
869. and the greatest of responsibilities.Copy !req
870. The ring never makes a mistake.Copy !req
871. It's gonna be all right.Copy !req
872. They just need to run some tests,
that's all.Copy !req
873. Keep him under.Copy !req
874. I only want what's best for you.Copy !req
875. Run.Copy !req
876. - Hector.
- Shh, shh.Copy !req
877. Don't worry.Copy !req
878. I only want what's best for you.Copy !req
879. The ring, it chose you.Copy !req
880. Take it!Copy !req
881. Hal.Copy !req
882. Hi.Copy !req
883. The alien was one of you.Copy !req
884. How did we end up so different?Copy !req
885. Hmm? Hmm?Copy !req
886. Sit down!Copy !req
887. Now...Copy !req
888. how's Carol?Copy !req
889. - That came out wrong.
- Please.Copy !req
890. - I've made mistakes...
- Look, Hal...Copy !req
891. I feel bad for you, really. Good night.Copy !req
892. You're just as much of a failure
as I was.Copy !req
893. And just as afraid.Copy !req
894. Well...Copy !req
895. I used to fight my fear.Copy !req
896. But now that I've tasted its true power...Copy !req
897. I'll never go back.Copy !req
898. No!Copy !req
899. You wear the ring of the Lantern
that imprisoned me.Copy !req
900. You will suffer the same fate.Copy !req
901. Once I have devoured your world...Copy !req
902. I will have all the strength I need...Copy !req
903. to defeat the Corps
and destroy the Guardians.Copy !req
904. Let me get this straight.Copy !req
905. This thing that's out there attacking
planets is connected to Hector?Copy !req
906. Somehow it infected him
after it killed Abin Sur.Copy !req
907. - Well, you're just gonna have to stop it.
- Oh, I'm just gonna have to stop it, huh?Copy !req
908. Well, I tried that and I failed.Copy !req
909. And the senator died.
I told you, the ring made a mistake.Copy !req
910. Wait, go back.
How did the ring make a mistake?Copy !req
911. The one thing that a Green Lantern
is supposed to be is fearless.Copy !req
912. Fearless is the job description.Copy !req
913. That isn't me.Copy !req
914. So you're just gonna walk away again?Copy !req
915. Explain this to me, Hal.
Please explain to me just once, why.Copy !req
916. Because I'm afraid!Copy !req
917. You don't think your dad ever felt afraid?Copy !req
918. If he did,
he figured out some way to beat it.Copy !req
919. Yeah, well, there's a word for that:Copy !req
920. Courage.Copy !req
921. They said that the ring wouldn't have
chosen me if it didn't see something.Copy !req
922. Something I don't see. Yet.Copy !req
923. I see it.Copy !req
924. I always have.Copy !req
925. The ring didn't see
that you were fearless.Copy !req
926. It saw that you had the ability
to overcome fear.Copy !req
927. It saw that you're courageous.Copy !req
928. Which you are.Copy !req
929. Just like your dad.Copy !req
930. The Lantern is a threat.Copy !req
931. Eliminate him.Copy !req
932. Our new weapon is ready.Copy !req
933. Once I've mastered its power...Copy !req
934. I'll begin training the Corps
to do the same.Copy !req
935. Though Earth will be lost...Copy !req
936. we'll be ready to make a stand against
Parallax before it reaches Oa.Copy !req
937. Then the power of the enemy
will be ours.Copy !req
938. At what cost?Copy !req
939. - You dare enter this chamber?
- I need your help.Copy !req
940. You gotta help me save my world.Copy !req
941. I know that humans aren't
the strongest species, or the smartest.Copy !req
942. We're young, we have a lot to learn.Copy !req
943. But we're worth saving.Copy !req
944. This new weapon of yours,
you can't use it.Copy !req
945. Once you cross that line, once you've given in
to fear, you'll never go back. I've seen it.Copy !req
946. Look, I know right now you're afraid.Copy !req
947. You dare accuse the Guardians
of feeling fear?Copy !req
948. Yes, I do.Copy !req
949. That's exactly why Parallax
is beating you...Copy !req
950. because you're afraid
to even admit you're afraid.Copy !req
951. I know.Copy !req
952. I spent my entire life doing it.Copy !req
953. You know, we have a saying on Earth.Copy !req
954. We say, "I'm only human."Copy !req
955. We say it because we're vulnerable,
we say it because we know we're afraid.Copy !req
956. It doesn't mean we're weak.Copy !req
957. Help me save my planet.Copy !req
958. Don't give in to fear.Copy !req
959. Fight it. Fight it with me.Copy !req
960. Your words are compelling, young human.Copy !req
961. But as immortals, we must measure
our actions over billions of years...Copy !req
962. and the fate of the universe.Copy !req
963. We simply cannot risk losing everything
on the chance you might be right.Copy !req
964. Then don't. Don't risk any more lives.Copy !req
965. Just mine.Copy !req
966. Let me go fight for my world...Copy !req
967. and I'll show you
that will is stronger than fear.Copy !req
968. There is no way you can succeed.Copy !req
969. You will die, Hal Jordan.Copy !req
970. Then I'll die trying.Copy !req
971. Good luck, Green Lantern.Copy !req
972. I wouldn't do that.Copy !req
973. Look closely.Copy !req
974. She's beautiful, isn't she?Copy !req
975. I loved her from the moment
I first saw her.Copy !req
976. But she could never see me,
as you were always standing in the way.Copy !req
977. But not anymore.Copy !req
978. No! No! Don't! Don't do this, Hector.Copy !req
979. Please.Copy !req
980. I know how you feel.Copy !req
981. Come on, look at yourself!Copy !req
982. No, I know what it's like...Copy !req
983. to not live up to expectations...Copy !req
984. to feel like nothing that you do
will ever be good enough.Copy !req
985. I know what it's like to be afraid.Copy !req
986. Let me help you.Copy !req
987. Hal. You've changed.Copy !req
988. How wonderful that all it took for you
to grow up was the end of the world.Copy !req
989. Now it's my turn.Copy !req
990. And if I can't be like you,
I'm gonna make her like me.Copy !req
991. And let's face it, once she's like me...Copy !req
992. then you wouldn't be very interested.Copy !req
993. Hmm? Now, would you?Copy !req
994. - Why can't you?
- Hmm?Copy !req
995. Why can't you be like me?Copy !req
996. Heh. Huh?Copy !req
997. Let her go...Copy !req
998. and you can have it.Copy !req
999. You can do anything.Copy !req
1000. Be anything.Copy !req
1001. Take it.Copy !req
1002. Let her make the choice.Copy !req
1003. Okay.Copy !req
1004. Wow.Copy !req
1005. Now bring her down.Copy !req
1006. Hal.Copy !req
1007. I lied.Copy !req
1008. I lied too.Copy !req
1009. See, the way it works is...Copy !req
1010. you have to be chosen.Copy !req
1011. You have failed me.Copy !req
1012. Stay here.Copy !req
1013. No problem.Copy !req
1014. Your will is strong,
but not strong enough.Copy !req
1015. You are nothing without the ring.Copy !req
1016. You must move out of the area now.Copy !req
1017. Please clear the streets.Copy !req
1018. Clear the streets immediately.Copy !req
1019. You can never beat this. You'll die.Copy !req
1020. At least I can get it away from here.Copy !req
1021. - How do you think you're gonna do that?
- I don't know. I don't know.Copy !req
1022. Maybe I can out think it or...Copy !req
1023. The dogfight, remember?Copy !req
1024. Those were a couple of jets.Copy !req
1025. Unbeatable jets.Copy !req
1026. The ring chose me for a reason.Copy !req
1027. This is why.Copy !req
1028. - Look, I'm probably not...
- Please don't. No.Copy !req
1029. Hey.Copy !req
1030. This is a mandatory evacuation.Copy !req
1031. Everyone must clear the streets
immediately.Copy !req
1032. Police emergency,
everyone must clear the street now.Copy !req
1033. Everybody off now! Now!Copy !req
1034. Go! Go!Copy !req
1035. Run!Copy !req
1036. - Run!
- Aah! Aah!Copy !req
1037. I feel your fear growing.Copy !req
1038. You will be dead soon.Copy !req
1039. In brightest day, in blackest night...Copy !req
1040. And when you're gone,
I'll destroy everything you ever loved.Copy !req
1041. no evil shall escape my sight.Copy !req
1042. Your family, your home,
your planet will be no more.Copy !req
1043. Let those who worship evil's might...Copy !req
1044. The entire human race will be wiped out
because you, Hal Jordan...Copy !req
1045. were afraid.Copy !req
1046. beware my power:Copy !req
1047. Green Lantern's light!Copy !req
1048. The bigger you are, the faster you burn.Copy !req
1049. Though his time
wearing the ring has been brief...Copy !req
1050. Hal Jordan's defeat of Parallax will be
remembered as long as the Corps exists.Copy !req
1051. His actions are a reminder
of why the ring chose each of us.Copy !req
1052. To overcome fear...Copy !req
1053. and destroy evil wherever it may hide.Copy !req
1054. As Lanterns,
we must fight with all our will.Copy !req
1055. Our wills haven't always been united.Copy !req
1056. It's time they were.Copy !req
1057. - Ha-ha-ha.
- Can I train them or can I train them?Copy !req
1058. You're impertinent, Hal Jordan.Copy !req
1059. You're rash, volatile, opinionated.Copy !req
1060. It seems Abin Sur found another
just like himself.Copy !req
1061. Wow, I am never getting used to that.Copy !req
1062. My new job requires that I travel.Copy !req
1063. Be away for a while.Copy !req
1064. Away, never gone.Copy !req
1065. Hal.Copy !req
1066. Yeah?Copy !req
1067. Can you take off the mask?Copy !req
1068. That's really cool. Ha, ha.Copy !req
1069. So, what happens now?Copy !req
1070. I'm gonna go look for trouble.Copy !req
1071. Of all the Lanterns
who have ever worn the ring...Copy !req
1072. there was one
whose light shined brightest.Copy !req
1073. At first, his humanity
was thought to be a weakness.Copy !req
1074. And yet it proved to be
his greatest strength.Copy !req
