1. These words were spoken

3. And down these paths

4. leaving footprints,
victim to the wind...Copy !req
5. for the sands of time to cover...Copy !req
6. only to make place
for another footstep to fall.Copy !req
7. And upon the promise of the prophets...Copy !req
8. many generations looked
for the coming of the Prince of Peace...Copy !req
9. the Messiah.Copy !req
10. And many have come, saying...Copy !req
11. "I am the one.
It is I they speak of. It is I."Copy !req
12. And many have gone,
as short-lived as their promise...Copy !req
13. to fulfill these timeless prophecies.Copy !req
14. But one came by that wasn't forgotten.Copy !req
15. Never a man spoke like this man.Copy !req
16. Never a man did the things
on this Earth...Copy !req
17. that this man did.Copy !req
18. And his words were as beautiful
as his miracles.Copy !req
19. To many believers,
their life's desire...Copy !req
20. is to be baptized in the Jordan River,
as Jesus was.Copy !req
21. They kneel at the holy places...Copy !req
22. places that are holy
simply because Jesus was there.Copy !req
23. They walk the way of the cross.Copy !req
24. They shout, "Praise the Lord!"Copy !req
25. And they mean it.Copy !req
26. Now, come along with me
in the footsteps of Jesus...Copy !req
27. and I'll show you why they do.Copy !req
28. Here in the peaceful countryside of Nazareth...Copy !req
29. Jesus often walked, studied,
meditated and prayed.Copy !req
30. It was here in this quiet countryside
that the strength of character...Copy !req
31. and patient endurance was built.Copy !req
32. Later he would be branded
by skeptics as a false prophet...Copy !req
33. by the wicked as a fool...Copy !req
34. and by the scribes and Pharisees,
the keepers of the law...Copy !req
35. as a radical, as a revolutionist,
as a man to be feared...Copy !req
36. for his words represented change.Copy !req
37. He knew his purpose in this world...Copy !req
38. and he knew that Scripture,
he knew the word.Copy !req
39. Time and again, he was to bring out
the true meaning of the words of the prophets.Copy !req
40. As the words said...Copy !req
41. "He gained in stature and in favor...Copy !req
42. with God and man."Copy !req
43. And then one day came the voice of a man
crying in the wilderness.Copy !req
44. Repent, repent, repent.Copy !req
45. The kingdom of heaven is at hand.Copy !req
46. A prophet has risen up
among the people now.Copy !req
47. John the Baptist, they call him.Copy !req
48. And the Pharisees and the elders
of the temple asked him if he was the Christ...Copy !req
49. if he was the Messiah
or if he was one of the prophets.Copy !req
50. And he answered them,
"No, I'm the forerunner.Copy !req
51. I was sent to tell you
that the son of God is coming now."Copy !req
52. And this is the minute
that John the Baptist was born for.Copy !req
53. Behold, the lamb of God...Copy !req
54. which takes away the sins of the world.Copy !req
55. And Jesus said...Copy !req
56. "Baptize me, John."Copy !req
57. And John said,
"No, it's you that should baptize me."Copy !req
58. And Jesus said again,
"Baptize me, John...Copy !req
59. that all things might be fulfilled."Copy !req
60. And the voice of God
was heard saying...Copy !req
61. "This is my beloved son...Copy !req
62. in whom I am well pleased."Copy !req
63. John the Baptist said,
"When I baptized him...Copy !req
64. "I looked, and I saw the Holy Spirit
descending like a dove from heaven.Copy !req
65. And I bear record then
that the son of God had come."Copy !req
66. And led by the Holy Spirit,
he entered the wilderness...Copy !req
67. as he had often gone alone to pray,
to meditate, to study the Scriptures.Copy !req
68. Now comes the battle
of light against darkness...Copy !req
69. that big fight
between Jesus and the devil...Copy !req
70. when the devil would try
to claim him as one of his own...Copy !req
71. to keep him from his divine purpose.Copy !req
72. But surely as he would lose...Copy !req
73. Jesus was that sure
of his purpose in this world.Copy !req
74. But the devil tempted him.Copy !req
75. And he said, "If you have the power of God,
turn these stones to bread."Copy !req
76. And Jesus said,
"You can't live by bread alone."Copy !req
77. The devil said, "Follow me, Jesus."Copy !req
78. And Jesus said,
"Get behind me, Satan."Copy !req
79. And he showed him all the riches
of the world, all the great kingdoms.Copy !req
80. Took him up on a high pinnacle,

81. "All the power of this has been

82. if you'll follow me, Jesus."Copy !req

92. And he took the scroll

95. "He hath anointed me
to preach the gospel to the poor.Copy !req
96. - "He has sent me to heal the broken heart...Copy !req
97. "to preach deliverance

98. "the recovering of sight
to the blind...Copy !req
99. to set at liberty
them that are bruised."Copy !req
100. And then he said...Copy !req
101. "This day is this Scripture...Copy !req
102. fulfilled."Copy !req

104. - "Isn't this the son of Joseph of Nazareth?Copy !req
105. "Isn't this the carpenter's son?Copy !req
106. "Has a carpenter come
to announce his divinity?Copy !req
107. "Did he say that he is the son of God?Copy !req
108. What did he say?"Copy !req
109. And Jesus said...Copy !req
110. "A prophet is without honor

111. And they would've killed him,
but he got away.Copy !req
112. His opposition is established
from the beginning now.Copy !req
113. He is to be followed and spied on
throughout his ministry...Copy !req
114. by the scribes and Pharisees.Copy !req
115. Many times an attempt would be made
on his life because of his teachings...Copy !req
116. calling for repentance and reform.Copy !req
117. He will always be in danger of death...Copy !req
118. at the hands of the temple rulers...Copy !req
119. until that final day down
on Calvary's hill...Copy !req
120. when all his worldly opposition...Copy !req
121. will be gathered together to do him in.Copy !req
122. Jesus was invited to a wedding feast
at the town of Cana...Copy !req
123. which is a short distance
from Nazareth.Copy !req
124. And during the wedding celebration...Copy !req
125. the wine ran out.Copy !req
126. The miracle of
the turning the water into wine...Copy !req
127. is a parable
of Jesus' teachings in itself—Copy !req
128. an act of kindness,
of love, of charity...Copy !req
129. for his friends and neighbors.Copy !req
130. Jesus' miracles were like a bell that rang
to draw the people from far and wide.Copy !req
131. And they gave up their daily tasks...Copy !req
132. and they followed him wherever he went.Copy !req
133. This tiny land of Israel was really
an outpost of the Roman Empire.Copy !req
134. For the most part,
the people tried to ignore the Romans.Copy !req
135. They even turned their backs
when they passed by.Copy !req
136. It was the temple rulers,
the scribes and the Pharisees...Copy !req
137. under a high priest, Caiaphas...Copy !req
138. that really held sway over the people.Copy !req
139. Jesus loved all men...Copy !req
140. but I guess if there was one thing
he really couldn't stand, that was a hypocrite.Copy !req
141. And he saw in the scribes and the Pharisees
and the elders of the people in the temple...Copy !req
142. total hypocrisy.Copy !req
143. "Blasphemer, " they all call him...Copy !req
144. for saying that he's divine,
the Son of God in the flesh.Copy !req
145. But the mass of the people,
especially the poor and underprivileged...Copy !req
146. followed him in such numbers
that they walked on top of each other...Copy !req
147. just to touch the hem of his garment.Copy !req
148. Jesus came to the city of Bethsaida...Copy !req
149. and the blind man was brought to him.Copy !req
150. And the blind man said to Jesus—Copy !req
151. So Jesus touched him.Copy !req
152. He put his hands on the blind man's eyes
and he said...Copy !req
153. "Now, open your eyes
and tell me what you see."Copy !req
154. And I can almost see that man now
openin' his eyes for the first time...Copy !req
155. lookin' around and seein' the dim outline
of the people around him.Copy !req
156. He said—Copy !req
157. So Jesus touched him one more time.Copy !req
158. He laid his hands on his eyes

159. "Now open your eyes and look up...Copy !req
160. and tell me what you see."Copy !req
161. And the man said—Copy !req
162. And the word continued to spread
that Christ had come.Copy !req
163. Once Jesus made the reason clear
for his coming...Copy !req
164. he chose for himself named
and numbered disciples.Copy !req
165. The number was 12.Copy !req
166. Most of them came from right here
in his Galilean homeland.Copy !req
167. Some of them were rough
and uneducated...Copy !req
168. but beneath the outward hardness
of these men...Copy !req
169. he saw a strong inner light...Copy !req
170. a spark that would burn eternally.Copy !req
171. And he bestowed upon them
his own miraculous power—Copy !req
172. to heal the sick,
to bring the dead back to life.Copy !req
173. And he especially told them
to go and preach his gospel.Copy !req
174. He educated them,
and he had patience with them.Copy !req
175. He often spoke to them
as he would speak with little children.Copy !req
176. He even called them "children."Copy !req
177. He patiently endured
their clumsiness...Copy !req
178. and their rude misunderstanding
of his words.Copy !req
179. A t times they were his only audience.Copy !req
180. He drew them to himself...Copy !req
181. and he stamped his own image upon them.Copy !req
182. He picked 'em up along the road,
along the seashore, wherever he might see them.Copy !req
183. He would say to one,
"Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."Copy !req
184. Among his first disciples were James and John,

185. John was to write a beautiful gospel
of Jesus Christ...Copy !req

244. The pain and the agony

245. and weary weeks and months

247. that he had really
baptized the Messiah...Copy !req

on the Jordan River.Copy !req
249. Well, John sent two of his own disciples
to ask Jesus again...Copy !req
250. if he really was the Messiah.Copy !req
251. Jesus sent the messengers

252. "Go your way and tell John
what things you have seen and heard—Copy !req
253. "how the blind see, the lame walk...Copy !req
254. "the lepers are cleansed,
the deaf hear...Copy !req
255. "the dead are raised...Copy !req
256. and to the poor

257. Well, John was later beheaded
by the command of Herod...Copy !req
258. the voice from the wilderness
silenced out of fear—Copy !req
259. the growing fear of the political leaders

260. fear that was building into a storm...Copy !req
261. that Jesus was gonna face
in all its fury down the road.Copy !req
262. When Jesus heard
of John the Baptist's death...Copy !req
263. he went off into the wilderness
in sadness...Copy !req
264. for the man that had truly paved the way
for his coming.Copy !req
265. John the Baptist,
the lightning before the thunder, was gone.Copy !req
266. This is a temple,
which to Jesus was his father's house...Copy !req
267. and they've made it into
a den of thieves...Copy !req
268. a store, a house of merchandise.Copy !req
269. And he said, "Woe unto you,
scribes, Pharisees, hypocrites.Copy !req
270. "You bind men with heavy burdens...Copy !req
271. "and all your works you do
to be seen by men.Copy !req
272. "Woe unto you, scribes,

273. "You shut up the kingdom

287. repeatedly telling them,

288. "Think not that I am come
to destroy the law or the prophets.Copy !req
289. I am not come to destroy,
but to fulfill."Copy !req
290. Jesus was born a Jew...Copy !req
291. but he made it clear
that he was sent to all men for all time.Copy !req
292. "Come unto me,
all ye that labor and are heavy-laden...Copy !req

294. "Take my yoke upon you

303. So far as they know,
any answer he gives is the wrong answer...Copy !req

305. If he says, "Forgive this woman, "
he's going against the law.Copy !req
306. Yet, on the other hand,
if he says, "Stone this woman"...Copy !req
307. it's a direct contradiction
of all his teachings...Copy !req
308. of love and compassion,
understanding and forgiveness.Copy !req
309. So Jesus says, "He without sin...Copy !req

311. And then Jesus started

312. and it's not really known what he wrote,
but maybe he was writin' things like...Copy !req
313. "Liar.Copy !req
314. "Hypocrite.Copy !req

316. "Rapist.Copy !req
317. Murderer."Copy !req
318. And then Jesus said,
"Woman, where are your accusers?"Copy !req

320. And he said, "Neither do I accuse you.Copy !req

322. A man named Nicodemus
came to Jesus alone one night.Copy !req
323. Nicodemus was a member of the Pharisees.Copy !req
324. He came to ask Jesus

325. He said, "Master, we know that

326. "for no man can do

328. And Jesus said to Nicodemus,

340. such as wealth, position,

346. "If a man asks you to go a mile with him,

438. sense and understand when a grown person

439. I think Jesus must have

440. qualities that make a man

442. as I'm sure he must have had a lot of them

443. He was the kind of man
that the little children would flock to.Copy !req
444. You can almost hear them saying...Copy !req
445. "Look. Here comes Jesus."Copy !req
446. Don't you know they ran to him?Copy !req
447. I think when I was a little bitty kid,
if Jesus had come by...Copy !req
448. I would have run to him.Copy !req
449. Jesus said,
"Except you humble yourself as a little child...Copy !req
450. "you can't see the kingdom of heaven.Copy !req
451. "Suffer little children,

460. As Jesus had said before that God

461. now God shows him the terrible thing

464. from knowing that,
in order for all things to be fulfilled...Copy !req
465. Lazarus would have to come back
