1. Marcus, Jordan!Copy !req
2. Heads up!Copy !req
3. I got it!Copy !req
4. I got it! I got it!Copy !req
5. I said I got it.Copy !req
6. Then why didn't you get it?Copy !req
7. Okay.Copy !req
8. Kimberly, this one's for you!Copy !req
9. Oh!Copy !req
10. No, wait!Copy !req
11. No, Okay! Wait!Copy !req
12. Kimberly, your shoes!Copy !req
13. I'm okay!Copy !req
14. Marcus, Jordan, come on!
Cut it out!Copy !req
15. You know how I like it!
Right here!Copy !req
16. There we go! There we go!Copy !req
17. You broke my hand.Copy !req
18. I didn't break your hand,
you big baby!Copy !req
19. Your finger's just dislocated!Copy !req
20. Here! I'll reset it!Copy !req
21. Frankie.Copy !req
22. - No. No, stay away from me!
- Frankie!Copy !req
23. Come on, it won't hurt.Copy !req
24. Stay away!Copy !req
25. It's okay.Copy !req
26. Frankie!Copy !req
27. This one's going long.Copy !req
28. Aah!Copy !req
29. - (CANS SMASHING)
- Aah!Copy !req
30. How many times have I gotta tell ya?Copy !req
31. Never open the flaps
when the Groundhogs are warming up.Copy !req
32. Well, it looks like we got
the whole team back.Copy !req
33. Yep, it sure does.Copy !req
34. I'm real sorry about that, coach.Copy !req
35. Yep. Me, too.Copy !req
36. Me, too.Copy !req
37. Well, at least we still got Eddie.Copy !req
38. Heads!Copy !req
39. All right, guys, let's go!Copy !req
40. Frankie, Oliver,
let's take it around the infield!Copy !req
41. Yeah, at least we got Eddie.Copy !req
42. Yes! Nice catch!Copy !req
43. Okay, Groundhogs, come on!
Let's play some ball!Copy !req
44. Let's show the players what we're made of!Copy !req
45. Hey, Oliver, you hang tough.
Kimberly, watch out! Your shoe's...Copy !req
46. - (THUD)
Ooh!Copy !req
47. I'm okay!Copy !req
48. Okay, Groundhogs,
first game of the season.Copy !req
49. I really think this could
be a winning year for us.Copy !req
50. I'd be happy with winning anything.Copy !req
51. We beat the Panthers last year.Copy !req
52. They had the chickenpox.Copy !req
53. - I know that!
- No, you don't!Copy !req
54. Also important to remember,
this is a building year.Copy !req
55. Hey, sorry I'm late.
Did I miss anything?Copy !req
56. Uh, Hannah,
why are you so... pink?Copy !req
57. Oh. My mom thinks I'm here
trying out to be a cheerleader.Copy !req
58. Whoever heard of
a baseball cheerleader?Copy !req
59. I think it's cool.
We could use a cheerleader.Copy !req
60. - I want to be a cheerleader.
- Go for it.Copy !req
61. I'm just telling her that.Copy !req
62. Just 'cause she
was the ultimate cheerleader,Copy !req
63. she thinks I should be one, too.Copy !req
64. - Has she met you?
- (LAUGHING)Copy !req
65. Play ball!
- (CHEERING)Copy !req
66. - There you go.
- Thank you.Copy !req
67. Hey, batter, batter,
batter, batter, batter!Copy !req
68. Hannah! Anticipate.Copy !req
69. Aaron, put something into it.
You're throwing like a girl.Copy !req
70. And, Oliver, could you be
any more out of position?Copy !req
71. Other than that, good job, everybody!Copy !req
72. - They're very fragile at this age.
- (SIGHS)Copy !req
73. Okay. Ogden's playing it
close to the base...Copy !req
74. Ready for the line drive.Copy !req
75. Okay. Heads up! Heads up,
everybody! Heads up!Copy !req
76. This is it.Copy !req
77. This could be the championship.Copy !req
78. - Out!
- (LAUGHS)Copy !req
79. Hey, hey! That was pretty good.Copy !req
80. We actually might win a couple of games.Copy !req
81. Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.Copy !req
82. That's it, folks.
What a game!Copy !req
83. Players ten, Groundhogs... three.Copy !req
84. Man!Copy !req
85. Next up,
it's last year's champions...Copy !req
86. Good job, guys. Good job!
See ya tomorrow afternoon.Copy !req
87. Now, remember, Groundhogs,Copy !req
88. it's time to get serious
about winning, huh?Copy !req
89. Time to get a new team name.Copy !req
90. More fierce, less rodent.Copy !req
91. Time to get a new bat.Copy !req
92. This one can't hit a thing.Copy !req
93. I'll tell you what it's time for.Copy !req
94. Eddie dogs.Copy !req
95. I've been waiting all year
for one of these.Copy !req
96. (MOUTHS) Oh, Yeah.Copy !req
97. A little horseradish for heat,Copy !req
98. jalapeño to make us men,Copy !req
99. and they're done.Copy !req
100. Mmm!Copy !req
101. Mmm!Copy !req
102. Hey, it's a couple of Grounder Hogs.Copy !req
103. - (CHANTING) Losers!
- Just in case you didn't know,Copy !req
104. this is what a baseball looks like.Copy !req
105. You wouldn't know a baseball
if I served it to you for dinner.Copy !req
106. (CHANTING) (JEERING) Losers!Copy !req
107. Hey, don't walk away from me
when I'm talking to you. Come back here.Copy !req
108. I'd give anything to beat those guys.Copy !req
109. All right, then let's beat 'em.Copy !req
110. Every year's always a building year
for us, anyway.Copy !req
111. We might as well build
towards something.Copy !req
112. - Really?
- Yeah, really.Copy !req
113. Okay, that's what
this season is all about...Copy !req
114. Beating the Eagles.
Are you with me?Copy !req
115. - Yeah!
- Yeah!Copy !req
116. Did you hear?Copy !req
117. College scout coming
to the Eagles practice tomorrow.Copy !req
118. Why aren't they coming to see Eddie?Copy !req
119. He's the best player in the league.Copy !req
120. True. But you know as well as I do...Copy !req
121. Groundhog practices,
sometimes they ain't so pretty.Copy !req
122. - Uh-oh. I feel it, too.
- (BOYS SHOUTING)Copy !req
123. Brace yourself.Copy !req
124. - Where is it?
Hi, guys!Copy !req
125. Hi, Mom! How's it going?
- Hi, Honey.Copy !req
126. - Hey.
- Whole team back?Copy !req
127. - Yep.
- Oh. Sorry.Copy !req
128. Come on, guys.
The game's on.Copy !req
129. - Did you hear something?
- No, I didn't hear a thing.Copy !req
130. DB: See, 32! Now, change it back!Copy !req
131. Hey, Eddie.Copy !req
132. - What's the matter?
- Hey, listen.Copy !req
133. You know, if you ever decide
you don't want to be a Groundhog...Copy !req
134. Why wouldn't I want to be a Groundhog?Copy !req
135. I know it's frustrating for you
never really being ableCopy !req
136. to play the game
you're capable of playing.Copy !req
137. What are you talking about?
I play all the time.Copy !req
138. No, that's not... Eddie,
there's a lot at stake for you this year.Copy !req
139. If this is gonna be your future,Copy !req
140. we really need to step your
game up another notch.Copy !req
141. Okay. (CHUCKLES)Copy !req
142. - DB: Ow! Get off my head!
- Whoa!Copy !req
143. Alex, get off of DB.
He's a guest.Copy !req
144. Why do you have to put
that kind of pressure on him?Copy !req
145. - It's just a game.
- Wedgie!Copy !req
146. Mom, it is not just a game.Copy !req
147. See? Eddie knows what
I'm talking about.Copy !req
148. The point is, with Eddie,Copy !req
149. it could be more than just a game.
I know he's only 14, but,Copy !req
150. there's a chance he
could have a pro careerCopy !req
151. or at least a scholarship.Copy !req
152. It's not crazy to think a pro scout
might spot him and...Copy !req
153. Have you ever heard him sayCopy !req
154. he wants to be a professional
baseball player?Copy !req
155. I think I got a pretty good handle
on what Eddie wants.Copy !req
156. Eddie, tell your mother.Copy !req
157. I'm gonna put some
brown sugar in here.Copy !req
158. We'll let the brown sugar melt...Copy !req
159. Eddie.Copy !req
160. - Eddie!
- What? Uh...Copy !req
161. - Oh, yeah, that'd be great.
- Hmm?Copy !req
162. Why do you have
to push like that?Copy !req
163. If it's something he really wants,
he'll figure out how to make it happen.Copy !req
164. I'm not pushing.
I'm steering.Copy !req
165. There's a big difference.Copy !req
166. - Ow!
- What happened? You all right?Copy !req
167. Ah! Everybody calm down.
I just cut my finger. I'm fine.Copy !req
168. Are you sure?
Let me see it.Copy !req
169. No, really, just
a couple of stitches.Copy !req
170. Stitches? How bad is it?Copy !req
171. Honey, I can't help you
if you won't let me see it.Copy !req
172. No. You know
how you are with blood.Copy !req
173. Honestly. One time
in a man's...Copy !req
174. Ooh, I better sit down.Copy !req
175. Sweetie, would you put
the food away, please?Copy !req
176. Yeah, yeah, yeah.Copy !req
177. Hank, deep breath.Copy !req
178. There's a paper bag on the floor.Copy !req
179. Oh, it looks like
he's gonna be sick.Copy !req
180. Somebody open a window, quick.Copy !req
181. Well, at least we can watch the game now.Copy !req
182. Is any of this
stuff edible?Copy !req
183. Man, I'm starving.Copy !req
184. Figures. Game's over already.Copy !req
185. You know you got a piece
of raw chicken in your hand?Copy !req
186. Hey, what if instead
of putting this stuff away,Copy !req
187. we make something out of it?Copy !req
188. Let me think.
Uh... No.Copy !req
189. Come on, it'd be cool,Copy !req
190. and my mom would be
totally surprised.Copy !req
191. I'd rather pull out
my nose hairs.Copy !req
192. I'm with him. I'd rather
pull out his nose hairs.Copy !req
193. Besides, you don't
even know how to cook.Copy !req
194. Sure, I do.Copy !req
195. Kinda.Copy !req
196. I make Eddie dogs.
How hard can this be?Copy !req
197. Fresh. Still some crunch.Copy !req
198. Over here.Copy !req
199. Are you sure the shells
are supposed to be in there?Copy !req
200. Hey, now, I'm just asking.Copy !req
201. - Cinnamon.
- Cinnamon.Copy !req
202. Cinnamon.Copy !req
203. - Basil.
- Basil.Copy !req
204. Basil.Copy !req
205. - Cardamom.
- Cardamom.Copy !req
206. Cardamom.Copy !req
207. - Caraway.
- Caraway.Copy !req
208. Caraway.Copy !req
209. Come on, buddy. Keep it going.Copy !req
210. Get that for me, get that for me.
Get that for me. Thank you.Copy !req
211. It's going good. It's going good.
Mash 'em.Copy !req
212. Yeah.Copy !req
213. Hey, we got pizza!Copy !req
214. - How's mom?
- I'm fine.Copy !req
215. Dad fainted twice.Copy !req
216. I didn't faint.
Men pass out, they don't faint.Copy !req
217. Did you put
the food away, honey?Copy !req
218. Nope. I cooked it instead.Copy !req
219. Okay, there's no way
I'm eating that.Copy !req
220. Move it or lose it.Copy !req
221. Hey, how about that?Copy !req
222. Well, I, for one,
am quite impressed.Copy !req
223. You boys have done an amazing job.Copy !req
224. Hey, don't look at us.
We had nothing to do with it.Copy !req
225. It was all Eddie.Copy !req
226. Yeah, it was like he was
possessed or something.Copy !req
227. Well, we're gonna have
to start calling you "Chef Eddie."Copy !req
228. - (ALL LAUGHING)
- More like Eddie Crocker.Copy !req
229. - Ooh!
- Ooh!Copy !req
230. At least now I know what
to get you for your birthday.Copy !req
231. - An apron!
- (ALL LAUGHING)Copy !req
232. Or an easy-bake oven.Copy !req
233. Knock it off.Copy !req
234. You know, now,
he always did likeCopy !req
235. making little cookies
with his Play-Doh.Copy !req
236. - No, I didn't!
- Okay, I think that's enough.Copy !req
237. Oh, come on, Mom. Look.Copy !req
238. It's Edwina, the daughter
you've always wanted.Copy !req
239. - Come on.
- Hi, I'm Edwina.Copy !req
240. I'm the little French chef
in the eighth grade,Copy !req
241. and my hobbies are cooking
and... and, well, cooking!Copy !req
242. I said knock it off!Copy !req
243. Oh, come on, relax, Eddie.
We're just teasing ya.Copy !req
244. It's not like anybody thinks you're gonna
trade in your baseball mittCopy !req
245. for an oven mitt.Copy !req
246. I don't know, Dad,Copy !req
247. do they let girls play
in major league baseball?Copy !req
248. - Ohh!
- (BOYS LAUGHING)Copy !req
249. All right.
Guys! Guys!Copy !req
250. No. Forget it.Copy !req
251. No way. I'm not
taking wood shop, okay?Copy !req
252. I like having ten fingers.Copy !req
253. I can throw a baseball,
I can hold a pencil,Copy !req
254. and it means I can do this.Copy !req
255. Frankie, you're not listening.
It's the easiest class.Copy !req
256. How hard can it be
to make a birdhouse?Copy !req
257. Besides, if you cut
something off,Copy !req
258. they pack it in ice,
sew it back on. No big deal.Copy !req
259. Guys, guys,
you're not even listening, okay?Copy !req
260. Alex and Andy both said
that computer scienceCopy !req
261. is the class to take.
Everyone gets an A,Copy !req
262. and for homework,
you get to play video games.Copy !req
263. - Hey.
- Hmm.Copy !req
264. No, mom, I'm not playing
on the computer.Copy !req
265. I'm just studying
for my final.Copy !req
266. They better have
an advanced placement,Copy !req
267. 'cause I've been zapping and
blowing stuff up since I was, like, three.Copy !req
268. Hey, Eddie, come on!
We're gonna be late for registration.Copy !req
269. Sorry. I guess I, uh...Copy !req
270. I just never really noticed
that room before.Copy !req
271. Yeah, I know how you feel.Copy !req
272. I got the heebie-jeebies
the first time I saw it.Copy !req
273. Go!Copy !req
274. Sign us up!
We'll hold 'em back.Copy !req
275. Okay.Copy !req
276. DB: Go! Go!Copy !req
277. M-m-my pen is broken.
I need a pen!Copy !req
278. Pen! Pen!
Who has a pen?Copy !req
279. Get it! Get it!
Come on!Copy !req
280. Eddie!
Where are you?Copy !req
281. Sign it! Sign it!Copy !req
282. - Yes!
- Yes!Copy !req
283. Computer science!Copy !req
284. - Yes!
- Yes!Copy !req
285. Welcome to Home Economics.Copy !req
286. Oh, we're going to have
so much fun together.Copy !req
287. Eddie, I cannot
believe you did this.Copy !req
288. - Sorry.
- Here's the deal.Copy !req
289. Nobody, and I mean absolutely nobody,
knows about this.Copy !req
290. It goes double
for my brothers.Copy !req
291. I know one person who's
gonna know for sure.Copy !req
292. Hannah?
What are you doing here?Copy !req
293. I took field hockey as an elective
the last two quarters.Copy !req
294. I thought my mom's head might
explode if I took it again.Copy !req
295. What's your excuse?Copy !req
296. Eddie's an idiot.
He grabbed the wrong clipboard.Copy !req
297. All right, guys.
For the quadrillionth time, I'm sorry,Copy !req
298. but I bet it's way better
than taking computer science.Copy !req
299. Look. What's that all about?Copy !req
300. Check it out.
Custom cooking utensils.Copy !req
301. Somebody should have signed up
for "Get-a-Life 101."Copy !req
302. Get a life? That's really hilarious.
Look, you little sprite.Copy !req
303. Every quarter there's
a group of stupid boysCopy !req
304. who get stuck in here
because they were too stupidCopy !req
305. to sign up for
computers, or whatever,Copy !req
306. and start acting all...Copy !req
307. Stupid?Copy !req
308. Exactly, but I swear,
if you don't sit down and shut up,Copy !req
309. I'm gonna julienne you up one
side and back down the other.Copy !req
310. Am I making myself clear?Copy !req
311. Uh, not really.
What's "julienne"?Copy !req
312. It means to chop into thin strips.Copy !req
313. Bridget, stop scaring
the new students...Copy !req
314. (CHUCKLES) And me.Copy !req
315. Mrs. Hadley, I was
going over the text,Copy !req
316. - and I have some suggestions...
- Bridget, whoa.Copy !req
317. I kinda need to welcome
the class, take roll,Copy !req
318. go over some basic
kitchen safety info.Copy !req
319. So, now, here's
a little something,Copy !req
320. a little something that should
start things off with a bang.Copy !req
321. I have entry forms for the 35th annualCopy !req
322. Million-Dollar Scholastic Cook-Off.Copy !req
323. Can you really win
a million dollars?Copy !req
324. No, no, no. That's just how much
they give out in scholarships.Copy !req
325. No, it comes
with a small cash prizeCopy !req
326. and a scholarship to the country's
pre-eminent culinary institute.Copy !req
327. What's a cook-off, you ask?Copy !req
328. Well, it's open to all students,
eighth grades and above.Copy !req
329. And that's you people.Copy !req
330. I was a finalist when
I was in high school.Copy !req
331. Hmm...Copy !req
332. To enter, a student must
submit an original recipe,Copy !req
333. and then, if selected for the finals,Copy !req
334. the student will be put
through a live cooking examCopy !req
335. to test their mastery
of the craft.Copy !req
336. I know, I know. It sounds
pretty exciting,Copy !req
337. so if you'd like a form,Copy !req
338. I have...Copy !req
339. Anybody else?Copy !req
340. Anybody at all?Copy !req
341. No? Oh.Copy !req
342. Okay. Well, there never is.Copy !req
343. Um, I thought that we'd
start with something basic,Copy !req
344. just let you get
your hands kinda...Copy !req
345. kinda floury, so to speak.Copy !req
346. (CHUCKLES)
Get it?Copy !req
347. No. Nobody ever does.Copy !req
348. Um...Copy !req
349. Page 74, "Anatomy of a Cookie".Copy !req
350. Man, Home Ec might
be totally boring,Copy !req
351. but sitting around
talking about cookies?Copy !req
352. How much easier can a class get?Copy !req
353. Okay, this is
an excellent exampleCopy !req
354. of why cooking time and temperature
is an integral part of baking.Copy !req
355. (SIGHS) I'm sorry. I thought
they'd cook faster.Copy !req
356. Hmm, is it possible for a cookieCopy !req
357. to actually have
too many chocolate chips?Copy !req
358. There's no way I'm gonna
be able to eat all of these...Copy !req
359. But I can try.Copy !req
360. Oh. My backpack.
Hold on.Copy !req
361. (SIGHS) Ogden's at the fridge.
He needs an original recipe,Copy !req
362. something no one has
ever tasted before.Copy !req
363. The fans are on their feet.Copy !req
364. What's it gonna be?Copy !req
365. Feel free to speak up.Copy !req
366. Cook-off, here we come.Copy !req
367. Ohh!Copy !req
368. Man, even PB and J cannot get
rid of the taste of that last one.Copy !req
369. (SIGHS) Okay.Copy !req
370. It's clinch time,
and Ogden knows it.Copy !req
371. He's about to make
the play of the game.Copy !req
372. Peanut butter
and jelly smoothie.Copy !req
373. It's bold.Copy !req
374. It's daring.Copy !req
375. Oh! Ow! Come on...Copy !req
376. Please... stop!
Turn off!Copy !req
377. It's...Copy !req
378. Someone's coming.Copy !req
379. Mmm.Copy !req
380. (SIGHS) It's official.
He really is as dumb as he looks.Copy !req
381. Eddie, I don't know what's going on
with you. You seem distracted.Copy !req
382. The missed plays,
foot off the bag.Copy !req
383. You know, if you're not gonna
take this seriously, why should I?Copy !req
384. I'm taking it seriously.Copy !req
385. Eddie, whether you like it or not,
you're the leader.Copy !req
386. The team looks up to you
and expects you to set an example.Copy !req
387. - I'm sorry.
- Baseball's got to be your priority...Copy !req
388. And stop playing with your food.Copy !req
389. You're dancing around
like a little girl.Copy !req
390. Dad, baseball is my priority.Copy !req
391. I swear, it's the most important
thing in the world to me.Copy !req
392. I know it is.Copy !req
393. I don't mean to come down hard on you.Copy !req
394. It's just...Copy !req
395. that you're so good,
and you got so much potential.Copy !req
396. Less coach, more dad.Copy !req
397. So, how was school today?Copy !req
398. Did you sign up for computer science
like your brothers told you to?Copy !req
399. Uh... Yeah. It was our very first choice.Copy !req
400. Good boy.Copy !req
401. Eddie, you'd tell me if something
was bothering you, right?Copy !req
402. Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
No, everything's cool.Copy !req
403. MRS.
and although similar,Copy !req
404. each leavening agent
has its own advantages and disadvantages.Copy !req
405. Now, yeast is a living organism,Copy !req
406. and it contains over
3,200 billion cells per pound.Copy !req
407. Now, it comes in several
different forms.Copy !req
408. We're gonna be working
today with the dry form.Copy !req
409. There's a few that will be
using the baking powderCopy !req
410. and the baking soda combo
for making tea breads,Copy !req
411. but we're gonna be mostly
talking about the dry yeast.Copy !req
412. Now, the most important
thing to remember...Copy !req
413. Your turn. Pick a letter.Copy !req
414. Uh... Q.Copy !req
415. MRS. If the water's
too hot or too cold...Copy !req
416. Man, you're really bad at this.Copy !req
417. MRS.You'll end up with crackers.Copy !req
418. All right, then, let's start cooking.Copy !req
419. Okay, I'm done talking now.
You can move.Copy !req
420. All right. Move it, people!Copy !req
421. Hey.Copy !req
422. What?Copy !req
423. Hey.Copy !req
424. And I said what?Copy !req
425. So, have you found
your recipe yet,Copy !req
426. you know, for the cook-off?Copy !req
427. I'm working on it.
Why do you care?Copy !req
428. Just curious.Copy !req
429. Uh... Do you think people would ever use
peanut butter as a primary ingredient?Copy !req
430. Well, the peanut is the most
versatile of the legumes,Copy !req
431. So why couldn't it be the
cornerstone of any sound entry?Copy !req
432. I'll take that as a yes.
Have you ever noticed thatCopy !req
433. - when you heat it up just right and...
- What are you doing?Copy !req
434. Nothing.Copy !req
435. We're talking about the cook-off.Copy !req
436. - No, we're not.
- Yes, we are.Copy !req
437. She's crazy.
Come on, we better get back to...Copy !req
438. Hey, is there something
going on with you guys?Copy !req
439. With me and Bridget?
Get real.Copy !req
440. Hello! Standing right here.Copy !req
441. It sounds to me
like someone's reallyCopy !req
442. starting to take an interest
in this class.Copy !req
443. No, I'm not. I hate this class.Copy !req
444. Okay, "interest" might have
been a little strong.Copy !req
445. Then... (CHUCKLES) What are
you doing over here?Copy !req
446. I, uh...Copy !req
447. I...Copy !req
448. I just came over
here to do this.Copy !req
449. Eddie.Copy !req
450. - You know what I gotta do, right?
- DB...Copy !req
451. If you must, you must.Copy !req
452. Stay calm.
Take a deep breath.Copy !req
453. And, class, everybody,
we don't want a...Copy !req
454. Food fight!Copy !req
455. Food fight, now, that's the thing
we definitely want to avoid.Copy !req
456. Food fight!Copy !req
457. Cover me.
I'm going in.Copy !req
458. I swear, boys are never
setting foot in this class agai...Copy !req
459. Apologies all around, ladies!Copy !req
460. - (CRASH)
- Good arm, Hannah.Copy !req
461. Oh! Martha Stewart never
had to put up with this.Copy !req
462. Aah!Copy !req
463. That was absolutely the best food fight
I've ever had in my entire life.Copy !req
464. Even with a month of
Saturday detention.Copy !req
465. Even better than that
summer camp soda massacre?Copy !req
466. Even better than the ice cream fight
at my cousin's Sweet 16?Copy !req
467. Totally.Copy !req
468. Even better than the
second-grade spaghetti melee?Copy !req
469. Hey.Copy !req
470. It's gonna take Bridget like weeks
to get that cake batter out of her hair.Copy !req
471. She should just enter herself
into that cook-off.Copy !req
472. I guess I shouldn't have
blasted her with that egg.Copy !req
473. That was so gross.Copy !req
474. Hey, you know what's gross?Copy !req
475. This.Copy !req
476. Oh, that is disgusting.Copy !req
477. - That is nasty.
- Eeew.Copy !req
478. Ohh!Copy !req
479. Hey! Now, that's not bad.Copy !req
480. Actually, that's better than not bad.
I'd have to say that's quite delicious.Copy !req
481. What?Copy !req
482. Hey, we missed lunch
and I'm hungry.Copy !req
483. Mmm!Copy !req
484. Good.
- Hey, this is great.Copy !req
485. It tastes kinda like barbecue sauce,
only better.Copy !req
486. Hey, you put this stuff on anything,
and I'll eat it.Copy !req
487. Okay, we've got to find
out what was in this.Copy !req
488. Do you remember what they
were making at this station?Copy !req
489. And why is it purple?
What is this texture?Copy !req
490. Does it remind you more
of applesauce or ketchup?Copy !req
491. Dude.Copy !req
492. Get a grip.Copy !req
493. I mean, it's good, but it's
just a bowl of purple sauce.Copy !req
494. - Well, yeah, but...
- But what?Copy !req
495. Uh... But nothing.Copy !req
496. Come on.
We still gotta wash down the ceiling.Copy !req
497. Samson...Copy !req
498. We have sauce.Copy !req
499. All right, come on, guys!
We can do this!Copy !req
500. Mmm!Copy !req
501. Okay, Groundhogs, focus.
We're still in this.Copy !req
502. Frankie.Copy !req
503. Hey, I gotta keep up
with my Yankees.Copy !req
504. - Okay, Jordan, come on!
- Come on, let's go.Copy !req
505. Don't let those Panthers
intimidate you!Copy !req
506. All right, Jordan!
All right! Way to go!Copy !req
507. He hit it!
I can't believe it!Copy !req
508. We might actually win!Copy !req
509. Oliver.Copy !req
510. What are you doing?Copy !req
511. Hey, is that the gunk from class?Copy !req
512. Did you make that?Copy !req
513. Would you guys chill out?Copy !req
514. It's my mom's recipe
she got from a magazine.Copy !req
515. Well, put it away, people.
There's no food in the dugout.Copy !req
516. What's the matter with you?Copy !req
517. Eddie, you're up.Copy !req
518. - It's all up to you, buddy.
- Okay.Copy !req
519. - Let's go, Eddie.
- Go, Eddie.Copy !req
520. Tell your mom it's the
best sauce I've ever tasted.Copy !req
521. All right, Eddie, let's go!Copy !req
522. All right!
Let's go, Eddie!Copy !req
523. No problem.Copy !req
524. Yes!Copy !req
525. We win! We win!
(LAUGHS)Copy !req
526. We win! We win!Copy !req
527. Congratulations, Groundhogs.Copy !req
528. I think this might be
the start of something big.Copy !req
529. Yeah.Copy !req
530. Hannah, you were fantastic today.
You're really one of the guys.Copy !req
531. If we keep working,Copy !req
532. there is no reason we
can't beat the Eagles.Copy !req
533. Man, would I love
to beat that coach.Copy !req
534. For all his tough talk, you
know what he does for a living?Copy !req
535. He's a nurse.
(CHUCKLES)Copy !req
536. You're gonna spit
your gum out, right?Copy !req
537. But you can't
just test it once.Copy !req
538. You've got to double-check it.Copy !req
539. Actually, triple-check it.Copy !req
540. MRS.
I know, dear.Copy !req
541. This isn't my first
time at the rodeo.Copy !req
542. What does that have
to do with anything?Copy !req
543. Is that your big cook-off recipe?Copy !req
544. Aren't you finished yet?Copy !req
545. So not your business.Copy !req
546. She finished yesterday, but we're
just making sure everythingCopy !req
547. is absolutely perfect.Copy !req
548. Oh, I sifted the flour twice.Copy !req
549. Make sure you
take that into account.Copy !req
550. Oh, I assume
that would be here.Copy !req
551. The part that you underlined,Copy !req
552. in bold, and put
arrows around.Copy !req
553. I, uh, I don't understand.Copy !req
554. You wouldn't.
Cooking is a science,Copy !req
555. and all of the measurements
have to be precise,Copy !req
556. down to the last quarter-teaspoon.Copy !req
557. That's the little one.Copy !req
558. If they're not,
you're immediately disqualified.Copy !req
559. Oh, well, uh,
well, good luck with that.Copy !req
560. Whatever.Copy !req
561. Okay. Only an hour
before anyone gets home.Copy !req
562. All right. Don't panic.Copy !req
563. Just start with two cups of sugar
and work your way back from there.Copy !req
564. No! We're out of sugar.Copy !req
565. Now what?Copy !req
566. Mom!Copy !req
567. I can explain.Copy !req
568. There's this contest,
you know,Copy !req
569. like on the back
of cereal boxes.Copy !req
570. Like the Million Dollar Cook-Off.Copy !req
571. The entry form is next to you.Copy !req
572. It's not what you're thinking.
It's not some stupid girl thing...Copy !req
573. I mean, it is mainly girls,
But guys can enter, too.Copy !req
574. And it comes with this cash prize,
and a scholarship to this amazing school.Copy !req
575. And I don't know if you've
ever seen the food channel,Copy !req
576. but every other person
on there is a guy,Copy !req
577. so I don't know why you're making
such a big deal out of this!Copy !req
578. Okay.Copy !req
579. I don't think I'm the one who's
making a big deal out of it.Copy !req
580. Why is this so important to you?Copy !req
581. I don't know.Copy !req
582. It's not.Copy !req
583. Hey, maybe if I win, it won't
matter if I like to do it.Copy !req
584. Who says you have to win?
So, that's it?Copy !req
585. That's what this is all about?
You like to cook?Copy !req
586. It was just some dumb idea.
Can we please just forget about it?Copy !req
587. And deprive the world of
Eddie's Incredible Edible Barbecue Sauce?Copy !req
588. Okay, but you can't tell dad.Copy !req
589. - Or Alex and Andy.
- I can't lie to your father.Copy !req
590. I really think he would
understand if...Copy !req
591. No, he wouldn't.
And you know he wouldn't.Copy !req
592. Well, maybe he would.Copy !req
593. Okay, maybe he wouldn't.Copy !req
594. Anyway, what have you
got left to do?Copy !req
595. - How can I help?
- (MUSIC PLAYING)Copy !req
596. Well, walk on down
To big mama's kitchenCopy !req
597. Gonna see what's cookin' todayCopy !req
598. People are talkin' all over this town
They can't seem to stay awayCopy !req
599. I can smell that...Copy !req
600. And not only that,
it's colorful.Copy !req
601. And it's easy to eat.Copy !req
602. So good
I want some soul foodCopy !req
603. Gimme, gimme some...Copy !req
604. - (LAUGHING)
- Ew!Copy !req
605. Bye, Mom.Copy !req
606. Hear the jukebox music
From the Golden Goose CaféCopy !req
607. Say, you better slow that row downCopy !req
608. Nice and low-down
Hear that good man sayCopy !req
609. I've got a crazy little thingCopy !req
610. That I'm sure you will enjoyCopy !req
611. We got soul foodCopy !req
612. I want some soul foodCopy !req
613. Gimme some soul foodCopy !req
614. I want some soul foodCopy !req
615. Whoa, yeah!Copy !req
616. He's out!Copy !req
617. Hey, hey, hey, Eddie!Copy !req
618. Way to go, Eddie!Copy !req
619. You two have got to be
the double play kings.Copy !req
620. Or king and queen.Copy !req
621. You had it right at kings.Copy !req
622. Excuse me, class.Copy !req
623. I've got a little
announcement to make.Copy !req
624. (LAUGHS) Well, actually, it's quite a big
announcement. It's huge.Copy !req
625. Um, I've just gotten off the
phone with the cook-off people.Copy !req
626. And, you know, they were so sweet.
They all remembered me.Copy !req
627. Said people still talking about my winning
triple berry torte 30 years later.Copy !req
628. And, I don't know, maybe
they were just being nice, but...Copy !req
629. Of course, they were
just being nice.Copy !req
630. Did I make the finals,
or didn't I?Copy !req
631. Bridget, there's a little something
called building anticipation.Copy !req
632. Yes, Bridget,
you are in the finals.Copy !req
633. Oh, my gosh, yes!Copy !req
634. Go, Bridget.Copy !req
635. (SIGHS) Ohh.Copy !req
636. Oh! And, oh,
and the other finalistCopy !req
637. is Eddie Ogden.Copy !req
638. Yes!Copy !req
639. Yes!Copy !req
640. Hey! I got in, too.Copy !req
641. My recipe used three
different types of cheeses.Copy !req
642. I have copies.Copy !req
643. Does anyone want to see?Copy !req
644. (SIGHS) I'm making a difference.Copy !req
645. I really am.Copy !req
646. Wait, DB, come on.
Don't be mad.Copy !req
647. I'm sorry. It was just a joke.
I thought it would be funny.Copy !req
648. Jokes are usually funnier when
you share them with your friends.Copy !req
649. I know.
I should've told you.Copy !req
650. I just thought that you
would think it was stupid.Copy !req
651. Yeah. Good guess.
I do think it's stupid.Copy !req
652. Just tell me this...Copy !req
653. Do you like Home Ec?Copy !req
654. Yes or no?Copy !req
655. No, I don't like it.Copy !req
656. I... I don't know.Copy !req
657. Maybe I don't hate it
as much as you guys do.Copy !req
658. Sometimes it's not that bad.Copy !req
659. Okay. I like it.Copy !req
660. I like making something
out of nothing.Copy !req
661. I like figuring out
what goes together.Copy !req
662. I like doing something
no one's ever done before.Copy !req
663. I don't know why.
I just like it.Copy !req
664. He likes it.Copy !req
665. Come on, this is stupid.Copy !req
666. I won with that
gross purple gunk.Copy !req
667. This whole cook-off thing
is a total joke.Copy !req
668. You gotta admit,
it is kinda funny.Copy !req
669. Yeah. Kinda.Copy !req
670. I thought Bridget's head
was gonna spin right off.Copy !req
671. Hey, you know
what's gonna be funny?Copy !req
672. Your dad's face
when he finds out.Copy !req
673. My dad!Copy !req
674. Hey, I'm home.Copy !req
675. Edwina's home!Copy !req
676. Hey... lookin' for this?Copy !req
677. - Gimme that!
- Oh!Copy !req
678. Okay, okay. You can torture
your brother later.Copy !req
679. Come on.
Go, go, go, go.Copy !req
680. It's a certificate.Copy !req
681. And they ruined it.Copy !req
682. You know, it's against the law
to read other people's mail.Copy !req
683. Oh, they didn't open it.Copy !req
684. Your Home Ec teacher called.Copy !req
685. To share in our excitement.Copy !req
686. - You don't look very excited.
- Oh, really?Copy !req
687. Because nothing excites me more
than having my son lie to meCopy !req
688. and sneak around behind my back.Copy !req
689. I'm sorry that I lied.Copy !req
690. And this cook-off thing...
what's that about?Copy !req
691. It's nothing.
It's just a thing.Copy !req
692. It's not gonna interfere with baseball
or school or anything.Copy !req
693. I promise.Copy !req
694. Eddie, I thought we had
some kind of understanding.Copy !req
695. Hi. Everybody's home early.Copy !req
696. What's going on?Copy !req
697. I got into the cook-off.Copy !req
698. Oh, honey, that's great.
Congratulations!Copy !req
699. Obviously, this isn't coming
as a big surprise to you.Copy !req
700. No. Not really.Copy !req
701. I mean, his recipe
was really good. (LAUGHS)Copy !req
702. Eddie, is there some reason you
told your mother and not me?Copy !req
703. I'm sorry I didn't tell you.Copy !req
704. I guess I was just... afraid.Copy !req
705. I don't know what
I was afraid of.Copy !req
706. I think we all know
what you were afraid of.Copy !req
707. Okay. Fine.Copy !req
708. Clearly, I have no idea what's
going on around here anymore.Copy !req
709. You think you can handle it,Copy !req
710. more power to you.Copy !req
711. Handle what?Copy !req
712. (PA SYSTEM) Not only is
Eddie Ogden the first boyCopy !req
713. from Cedar Valley Junior High
to make the finals,Copy !req
714. he's also the only boy
in his age bracket.Copy !req
715. Oh, and Bridget Simmons
is also a finalist.Copy !req
716. Simons, you buffoon!
Bridget Simons!Copy !req
717. Left on the outsideCopy !req
718. Wonderin' whyCopy !req
719. I don'tCopy !req
720. fit inCopy !req
721. Left on the outside...Copy !req
722. - Hey, Eddie. Wanna try out?
- (GIGGLING)Copy !req
723. Wonderin' whyCopy !req
724. I can't fit in with youCopy !req
725. - You okay?
- Uh, yeah, I'm fine.Copy !req
726. Want me to take 'em out?Copy !req
727. No, really, I'm okay, but
thanks for the offer.Copy !req
728. I can't believe you're
going through with this.Copy !req
729. You know, I don't know why everybody's
making such a big deal out of it.Copy !req
730. 'Cause people are idiots.
Just lay low and...Copy !req
731. MRS. Eddie!Copy !req
732. Get in here!Copy !req
733. We've got some serious
cook-off training to do!Copy !req
734. Alrighty, then,
let's get crackin'.Copy !req
735. I really don't think we need to do this.
I'm serious.Copy !req
736. So am I. Start cracking those
eggs before they hatch.Copy !req
737. Hmm. Smooth.Copy !req
738. Okay, so I can't
crack an egg.Copy !req
739. Who cares? I can do
all the rest of it.Copy !req
740. Oh, really?
Can you sauté?Copy !req
741. Fricassee? Cleave? Fold?Copy !req
742. Mince? Scald? Cream?Copy !req
743. Reduce? Extract?
Whip, and flambé?Copy !req
744. Can you...Copy !req
745. zest a lemon?Copy !req
746. Poach a pear?
Cream a custard?Copy !req
747. Layer a lasagna?
Coddle an egg?Copy !req
748. Dress a lamb?Copy !req
749. Well, you're gonna learn.Copy !req
750. The finals are about knowledge
and mastery of a craft,Copy !req
751. and they can throw
anything at you.Copy !req
752. Your days of self-indulgent
creativity are over.Copy !req
753. Come on, you wanna
win this, don't you?Copy !req
754. - Yeah, but I really...
- No, no, no, no "buts." No.Copy !req
755. The world is gonna learnCopy !req
756. that Mrs. Rose Hadley,
certified nutritionist,Copy !req
757. is still a force
to be reckoned with,Copy !req
758. and you guys are gonna
tell 'em. So...Copy !req
759. for the next month,
you're gonna do nothingCopy !req
760. but eat, breathe, sleep
Home Economics.Copy !req
761. Oh... except Tuesday.Copy !req
762. That's when I Jazzercise.Copy !req
763. Hey.Copy !req
764. You coming?Copy !req
765. Uh... I've got some work to do.Copy !req
766. You said it, brother.Copy !req
767. Whatever.Copy !req
768. Okay... now...Copy !req
769. So, right hand,
take the egg...Copy !req
770. There you go,
and in it goes.Copy !req
771. Oh... try again. It's okay.Copy !req
772. Should have been there
Should have made it by nowCopy !req
773. But I'm down on my knees
When nobody's aroundCopy !req
774. Yeah, I tried to be strong
But I lost it somewhereCopy !req
775. In the midst of my dream
I forgot about realityCopy !req
776. And it hit me real hardCopy !req
777. Tears make it hard to see...Copy !req
778. - Hey, bud.
- Hey.Copy !req
779. - Good game?
- Yeah, yeah, it's going great.Copy !req
780. How's Kerry Wood doing?Copy !req
781. It's, uh, it's
going really good.Copy !req
782. Later.Copy !req
783. If you want it
You can get itCopy !req
784. If you choose it
Don't regret itCopy !req
785. If you feel it
Make it realCopy !req
786. It's what you wantedCopy !req
787. Don't forget it
When you find itCopy !req
788. Don't rewind it
Love-infuse itCopy !req
789. And you're starting to growCopy !req
790. Everybody gets as far as they goCopy !req
791. Set your mind
Tell your mindCopy !req
792. You're gonna get thereCopy !req
793. Pick up yourself
You're gonna come true...Copy !req
794. It was still pretty close.
And it was onlyCopy !req
795. our second loss of the season.Copy !req
796. Usually we've had,
like, five or six losses by now.Copy !req
797. Guess I was just
getting used to winning.Copy !req
798. - Are you blaming me?
- Hey, how could we blame you?Copy !req
799. You're still better than
all of us put together.Copy !req
800. Maybe we just want it more.Copy !req
801. What is that supposed to mean?Copy !req
802. - It's weird.
- What's weird?Copy !req
803. It's weird that you'd rather
bake cakes than play baseball.Copy !req
804. It's weird that you'd rather read
a cookbook than a comic book.Copy !req
805. It's just weird.Copy !req
806. I thought we talked
about this...Copy !req
807. Yeah, I know, you like it.Copy !req
808. But what if I suddenly said
I liked playing with dolls?Copy !req
809. You used to play with dolls all the time.Copy !req
810. - What?
- Don't you remember?Copy !req
811. In kindergarten, you brought
your sister's Barbie to show and tellCopy !req
812. like three times.
Now, that was weird.Copy !req
813. That is not the same
thing and you know it.Copy !req
814. See ya.Copy !req
815. Yeah, well, gotta go.Copy !req
816. If you want itCopy !req
817. Everybody gets as far as they goCopy !req
818. You're starting to growCopy !req
819. If you want it
You can get itCopy !req
820. If you choose it
Don't regret itCopy !req
821. If you feel it...Copy !req
822. Oh, Eddie,Copy !req
823. I really think this is
your best effort so far.Copy !req
824. Thanks.Copy !req
825. Oh, I'm so dead.Copy !req
826. And you're starting to grow...Copy !req
827. - Let's go, Frankie!
- Come on, Frankie!Copy !req
828. Hey. Sorry I'm late.Copy !req
829. I didn't know a soufflé takes
over an hour to bake.Copy !req
830. What's the matter?Copy !req
831. We're losing.Copy !req
832. By a lot.Copy !req
833. That's nothing.Copy !req
834. Marcus and Kimberly
are on base.Copy !req
835. I'll just hit them home,
and then we're only down by two runs.Copy !req
836. Strike three!
You're out!Copy !req
837. Okay, Jordan, you're up.Copy !req
838. Jordan?Copy !req
839. No, come on, Dad, put me in.
There's two outs.Copy !req
840. You missed three innings.
You're out of the game.Copy !req
841. Out of the game?Copy !req
842. Come on, can't you
make an exception?Copy !req
843. Strike one!Copy !req
844. Longo...Copy !req
845. Is there a soufflé exception?Copy !req
846. Nope. Just one for apple pie.Copy !req
847. Strike three!
You're out!Copy !req
848. Okay, everybody out on the field.Copy !req
849. Hannah, keep playing first.
DB, you take short.Copy !req
850. Come on, Groundhogs, let's go!Copy !req
851. Come on, guys.
Hustle, hustle, hustle!Copy !req
852. DB: I figured it out last night.Copy !req
853. Even though we lost yesterday,
we just have to win one more game,Copy !req
854. and we get to play the Eagles
for the championships.Copy !req
855. - Okay, that's cool.
- Yeah.Copy !req
856. Hey, it's the Hogs!Copy !req
857. The only team with
their own chef!Copy !req
858. So... what are you gonna do on the 15th?Copy !req
859. What?Copy !req
860. The 15th.Copy !req
861. If we make it to the playoffs,
that's the day we play the Eagles.Copy !req
862. And it's also the day
of your cook-off.Copy !req
863. So what's it gonna be?Copy !req
864. - Well, I...
- Yeah, that's what I thought.Copy !req
865. Hey, why are you mad at me
for something that might not even happen?Copy !req
866. Why don't you go sit with the girls,
swap recipes?Copy !req
867. Here's my applesauce.Copy !req
868. Maybe you can bake a cake
out of it or something.Copy !req
869. Or something.Copy !req
870. Food fight!Copy !req
871. You're just madCopy !req
872. 'cause you couldn't win
a baseball game by yourselfCopy !req
873. if your life depended on it.Copy !req
874. I'd rather win like a man
than cook like a girl!Copy !req
875. Come on,
you're teammates!Copy !req
876. - Not anymore. I quit!
- Eddie, no, you can't!Copy !req
877. I don't care what you say,Copy !req
878. but that was definitely
the greatest food fightCopy !req
879. of all time.
I mean, I just felt so free...Copy !req
880. Okay, so...Copy !req
881. I'm not the one who
has to clean the cafeteriaCopy !req
882. every day for the next month,Copy !req
883. - but if you look at it my way...
- Frankie.Copy !req
884. You see?Copy !req
885. There?Copy !req
886. - Like that?
- Is that applesauce in your hair?Copy !req
887. Yeah, I'm baking
a cake later.Copy !req
888. How much longer do
we have to do this?Copy !req
889. Where do you have to go?Copy !req
890. I hear your baseball
career is over.Copy !req
891. Okay, focus, people.
Focus, people. Hmm?Copy !req
892. This is crunch time.
Magic hour is just a week away,Copy !req
893. and neither of you can
chop to save your life.Copy !req
894. Okay, now.Copy !req
895. When it comes to julienning,
there are two schools of thought.Copy !req
896. There's the ultra-skinny
French toothpick style,Copy !req
897. and then there is the more robust
American matchstick style.Copy !req
898. - Now, each has its pros and cons...
- This is so stupid.Copy !req
899. Who cares how big they are?Copy !req
900. Who cares if they're
in cubes or starsCopy !req
901. or little sticks?
They're carrots!Copy !req
902. And no matter what
you do to them,Copy !req
903. they're going to taste like carrots.Copy !req
904. - This is a total waste of time.
- Hey!Copy !req
905. - I'm guessing there's more.
- Yeah, there's a lot more.Copy !req
906. I hate not having any friends.Copy !req
907. I hate that my dad
can barely look at me.Copy !req
908. I hate that my brothers
tease me.Copy !req
909. I hate that everybody makes fun of me
because of this stupid cook-off,Copy !req
910. and more than anything,
I hate chopping up vegetables.Copy !req
911. Are you through?Copy !req
912. You may hate all those things now,Copy !req
913. Eddie Ogden, but I'm guessing,Copy !req
914. that deep down,
you love cooking even more.Copy !req
915. So don't talk yourself
out of doing this just because...Copy !req
916. Look, forget it. I'm done.Copy !req
917. I'm going back to where
I'm supposed to be.Copy !req
918. Eddie... (SIGHS)Copy !req
919. Do you think that's why
everybody makes fun of me?Copy !req
920. Because I love to cook?Copy !req
921. No! Oh, no.Copy !req
922. There are plenty of other reasons.Copy !req
923. Okay, back to chopping.Copy !req
924. Okay! I don't want to
psych you guys out,Copy !req
925. but we beat the Cougars,Copy !req
926. and we're in the playoffs!
Huh?Copy !req
927. - (TEAM CHEERS)
- Yeah! Ha ha!Copy !req
928. - Where's Eddie?
- Baking cookies.Copy !req
929. Okay, now, look.
I know you guys can do this,Copy !req
930. but it's gonna take
a little strategy.Copy !req
931. First, keep the ball low
and down the third base line.Copy !req
932. The Cougar third baseman,
he can catch anything,Copy !req
933. but he throws like a real girl.Copy !req
934. - He can barely get it to first...
- I throw like a girl.Copy !req
935. What?Copy !req
936. I throw like a girl
because I am a girl.Copy !req
937. Hannah throws like a girl, too.Copy !req
938. She's just good at it.Copy !req
939. Kimberly, that...
that's not what I meant.Copy !req
940. Why is it a compliment
every time you say I run like a boy,Copy !req
941. but an insult when you
say I run like a girl?Copy !req
942. Can't I just be a good
runner or a bad runner?Copy !req
943. You are a bad runner.Copy !req
944. I know that.
Everyone knows that.Copy !req
945. But it's not because I'm a girl.
It's because I'm an uncoordinated dork,Copy !req
946. - like Marcus and Jordan.
Hey!Copy !req
947. The Cougars' third
baseman can't throw.Copy !req
948. Period.Copy !req
949. Okay.Copy !req
950. If there aren't any more
unresolved issues...Copy !req
951. - My dad's a nurse.
- What?Copy !req
952. You made fun of the Eagles'
coach for being a nurse.Copy !req
953. Oliver, I'm sorry.
I didn't mean anything...Copy !req
954. He saves people's lives.Copy !req
955. My father's a florist.Copy !req
956. And why do I have to be
one of the guys?Copy !req
957. Can't I just be
part of the team?Copy !req
958. Hey, what's everybody
standing around for?Copy !req
959. What are you doing here?Copy !req
960. I'm here to play some baseball.Copy !req
961. This is where I'm supposed to be.
Right, Dad?Copy !req
962. Well... right.Copy !req
963. Definitely right.Copy !req
964. And since that's settled,
let's go win ourselves a ballgame!Copy !req
965. - Yeah!
- (TEAM CHEERS)Copy !req
966. My old man was
a hairdresser. (LAUGHS)Copy !req
967. Well, I beat the drumCopy !req
968. And hold the phoneCopy !req
969. The sun came out todayCopy !req
970. We're born againCopy !req
971. There's new grass on the fieldCopy !req
972. A-rounding thirdCopy !req
973. And headed for homeCopy !req
974. It's a brown-eyed handsome manCopy !req
975. Anyone can understandCopy !req
976. The way I feelCopy !req
977. Okay, Groundhogs,
two outs!Copy !req
978. One more out, we win!Copy !req
979. You're out!Copy !req
980. Put me in, coach
I'm ready to playCopy !req
981. TodayCopy !req
982. Put me in, coachCopy !req
983. I'm ready to play...Copy !req
984. (ALL CHANTING)
Eddie! Eddie!Copy !req
985. Eddie! Eddie!Copy !req
986. Eddie! Eddie!Copy !req
987. We're out of pizza!Copy !req
988. Oh, if I had a dollar
for every time I heard that...Copy !req
989. I could pay
for these extra pizzas.Copy !req
990. Don't worry, boys and girls,
reinforcements have arrived.Copy !req
991. Hey!Copy !req
992. Good game.Copy !req
993. Thanks. You, too.Copy !req
994. Hi.Copy !req
995. Hi.Copy !req
996. I'm sorry, I was
expecting the pizza guy.Copy !req
997. You're not him.Copy !req
998. Are you?Copy !req
999. Somebody wants
her apron back!Copy !req
1000. Well, I wish we had something
we could offer you.Copy !req
1001. Oh...Copy !req
1002. Cookies?Copy !req
1003. Ooh.Copy !req
1004. Thank you.Copy !req
1005. Eddie, you know why I'm here.Copy !req
1006. You need to be at
that cook-off tomorrow.Copy !req
1007. - Oh, I can't.
- Why?Copy !req
1008. The Groundhogs
are in the playoffs.Copy !req
1009. Oh, is that all?Copy !req
1010. (LAUGHS) Boy, have you walked into
the wrong house.Copy !req
1011. It's the biggest game of the year,
and everybody's counting on me.Copy !req
1012. He's not gonna let his team down,
Mrs. Hadley.Copy !req
1013. No. Apparently just himself.Copy !req
1014. Look, you've got Bridget.
She'll be great.Copy !req
1015. Yeah. Bridget. Sure. She can...Copy !req
1016. whisk till the cows come home.Copy !req
1017. But she has no passion, she has no...Copy !req
1018. no instinct.Copy !req
1019. But you,
Eddie Ogden, you are...Copy !req
1020. you're a natural.Copy !req
1021. It's... it's what you were
born to do.Copy !req
1022. That was a little
melodramatic, huh?Copy !req
1023. (LAUGHS)
Oh, I was afraid of that.Copy !req
1024. That's what you get for practicing
in front of your cats.Copy !req
1025. Well, alrighty, then,
I gave it the old Cordon Bleu try.Copy !req
1026. Well, thanks for coming.Copy !req
1027. And, uh, thanks
for the cookies.Copy !req
1028. They're amazing.Copy !req
1029. It's the ginger.Copy !req
1030. You see, I'm sorry for all this,Copy !req
1031. but it's just that Eddie,
he has so much potential,Copy !req
1032. and I want him to think long-term,
and I know I shouldn't push...Copy !req
1033. Oh, no, but sometimes
you have to.Copy !req
1034. Yeah.Copy !req
1035. Well, good-bye.Copy !req
1036. Good-bye. Thanks for coming, Mrs. Hadley.Copy !req
1037. Eddie.Copy !req
1038. Could you do me
just one favor?Copy !req
1039. Sleep on it.Copy !req
1040. Don't make your final
decision till tomorrow.Copy !req
1041. Please? Just promise me.Copy !req
1042. I promise.Copy !req
1043. But, uh, if I know my son,Copy !req
1044. I wouldn't count on it.Copy !req
1045. Well, I'm sure nobody
knows him better than you.Copy !req
1046. Another home run for Ogden?Copy !req
1047. I think it is.Copy !req
1048. It's high and long...Copy !req
1049. against the back fence,
and it's...Copy !req
1050. good!Copy !req
1051. (TV CAMERAMAN)
Five, four, three, two...Copy !req
1052. Hi, everybody,
I'm Bobby Flay,Copy !req
1053. and welcome
to the Million Dollar Cook-Off!Copy !req
1054. Today, eight talented finalistsCopy !req
1055. will tantalize us with
spectacular dishesCopy !req
1056. as they compete for
prizes and scholarshipsCopy !req
1057. for the culinary schools
of their dreams.Copy !req
1058. (CAMERAMAN)
Nice, Bobby. You look good.Copy !req
1059. There's no blender!
I can't work without a blender!Copy !req
1060. MRS.
We need a blender at station two!Copy !req
1061. Stat!Copy !req
1062. Eddie Ogden.Copy !req
1063. Yeah!Copy !req
1064. Welcome, but, uh...
you better hustleCopy !req
1065. and get yourself set up, here.Copy !req
1066. Oh, I'm not staying. I just kind
of wanted to see everything.Copy !req
1067. It's so cool.Copy !req
1068. - What do you mean, you're not staying?
- Oh, I've got a game.Copy !req
1069. It's kind of hard to explain.Copy !req
1070. You know, people are counting on me,
and my dad is...Copy !req
1071. I think I get it.Copy !req
1072. Well...Copy !req
1073. Good luck.
You'll be missed.Copy !req
1074. Thanks.Copy !req
1075. - See ya.
- Hey...Copy !req
1076. How do you crack an egg
with one hand?Copy !req
1077. You stick around
and I'll show you how.Copy !req
1078. I'm gonna be late.
See ya.Copy !req
1079. See ya.Copy !req
1080. I don't know where he is.
Why are you blaming me?Copy !req
1081. I'm sorry. It's just...Copy !req
1082. I don't know...Copy !req
1083. I don't know who he is anymore.Copy !req
1084. He doesn't tell me anything.Copy !req
1085. He doesn't tell you,Copy !req
1086. or he's telling you things
you just don't want to hear?Copy !req
1087. What's that supposed to mean?Copy !req
1088. Hey, Mom. Hey, Dad.
Sorry I'm late.Copy !req
1089. (LAUGHS) Yes!Copy !req
1090. One... two... three...
Go Groundhogs!Copy !req
1091. You made the right decision.Copy !req
1092. Now let's
go get 'em, huh?Copy !req
1093. Remember,
it's all about beating the Eagles.Copy !req
1094. I remember.Copy !req
1095. Hey, batter, batter,
batter, batter!Copy !req
1096. He's out.Copy !req
1097. Go get 'em. Let's do this.Copy !req
1098. Go, Eddie!Copy !req
1099. If it isn't little Eddie Crocker.Copy !req
1100. I thought you had
cupcakes to bake.Copy !req
1101. Gee, you know, I'd love to sit
around and compare recipes, but...Copy !req
1102. I've got some bases to run.Copy !req
1103. Welcome back to the
Million-Dollar Cook-Off.Copy !req
1104. We are just seconds away
from seeing these eight...Copy !req
1105. well, actually,
seven young chefs in action.Copy !req
1106. When I ring the bell, every contestant
will have exactly two hoursCopy !req
1107. to present the judges
with a complete meal,Copy !req
1108. using the ingredients
you see here.Copy !req
1109. Easy, easy, easy.Copy !req
1110. And they also must use all four
of today's secret ingredients...Copy !req
1111. Chocolate, chicken,
lemons,Copy !req
1112. and check this out...Copy !req
1113. - red-hot chili peppers.
- Okay, not so easy.Copy !req
1114. But I bet you Eddie could win it,
using nothing more than a pickle forkCopy !req
1115. and a Bunsen burner.
Right, Eddie?Copy !req
1116. Why are you watching that?Copy !req
1117. Well, Eddie might not be on TV,
but his name was.Copy !req
1118. That's pretty cool.Copy !req
1119. Let's go, Eddie. Eye on the ball.
Eye on the ball.Copy !req
1120. Strike one!Copy !req
1121. If it was that cool,
he'd be there.Copy !req
1122. Okay, Eddie.Copy !req
1123. Focus, Eddie. Focus.Copy !req
1124. So, on your mark...Copy !req
1125. Strike two!
- Get set...Copy !req
1126. Strike three!
You're out!Copy !req
1127. Cook!Copy !req
1128. And they're off.Copy !req
1129. The is the scariest and most exciting
time for these young chefs...Copy !req
1130. Turn that off.Copy !req
1131. And at the end of two innings,Copy !req
1132. the score is tied 3 to 3.Copy !req
1133. All right, come on, Groundhogs!
Let's go! Easy out!Copy !req
1134. Safe!Copy !req
1135. Off the bag.Copy !req
1136. Eagles lead 4 to 3.Copy !req
1137. Okay, Groundhogs, focus, focus, focus!Copy !req
1138. Eddie, get in the game!Copy !req
1139. Get in the game!Copy !req
1140. All right, come on, Jordan! Let's go!Copy !req
1141. Okay, come on. Eye on the ball!
Eye on the ball!Copy !req
1142. What's wrong with Eddie?
We've never seen him play this bad.Copy !req
1143. Yeah, he better pull himself together.Copy !req
1144. Or what?Copy !req
1145. What do you mean, "or what"?Copy !req
1146. Or we're gonna lose, that's or what.Copy !req
1147. And turn that off. I don't think
your cook-off play-by-plays are helping.Copy !req
1148. Well, I don't think that making him chooseCopy !req
1149. between cooking
and having friendsCopy !req
1150. is helping, either, DB.Copy !req
1151. What? Now you've completely lost it.Copy !req
1152. See, this is what happens
when you forget to wear a batting helmet.Copy !req
1153. Strike one!
- All right, Jordan, let's go!Copy !req
1154. Eddie's here because he wants to be here.Copy !req
1155. Because he wants to beat the Eagles.Copy !req
1156. Is that why you're here?Copy !req
1157. No, I'm here because I love baseball.Copy !req
1158. Yeah, kind of like Eddie and cooking, huh?Copy !req
1159. - Yeah!
- (ALL CHEERING)Copy !req
1160. All right! I'll just hit Jordan home
and we're back in this.Copy !req
1161. But without Eddie,
we can't win.Copy !req
1162. Let's go, Eddie!Copy !req
1163. Oh, man.Copy !req
1164. Hey, Ogden.Copy !req
1165. Why is it always
up to you?Copy !req
1166. What?Copy !req
1167. "Eddie, hit a home run."Copy !req
1168. "Eddie, make the play.
Eddie, save us."Copy !req
1169. Why don't you let us
do it for a change?Copy !req
1170. Do we want to say
Eddie did this for us,Copy !req
1171. or that we won it
for ourselves?Copy !req
1172. Hey, I'm just
trying to help.Copy !req
1173. Help? We don't
need your help.Copy !req
1174. We don't want your help.
In fact, we don't want you.Copy !req
1175. You're better off
baking some piesCopy !req
1176. at some stupid contest
than here.Copy !req
1177. - Right?
Right!Copy !req
1178. So go.Copy !req
1179. You go do
what you have to do,Copy !req
1180. and let us do
what we have to do.Copy !req
1181. Batter up!Copy !req
1182. Help me out here, guys.Copy !req
1183. Go! Get out of here!Copy !req
1184. Get going!Copy !req
1185. So you guys are
really cool?Copy !req
1186. Oh, give me that.
You're not the only oneCopy !req
1187. who can hit in a couple of runs.Copy !req
1188. Yeah!Copy !req
1189. See?Copy !req
1190. Kimberly, run! Go!Copy !req
1191. Woo-hoo! All right!Copy !req
1192. Yes!Copy !req
1193. All right,
Groundhogs have tied it up.Copy !req
1194. - So you going, or what?
- I'm going.Copy !req
1195. I think I should have about
an hour and a half left.Copy !req
1196. - Wish me luck.
- All right.Copy !req
1197. So, what?Copy !req
1198. That's it?Copy !req
1199. You're quitting?Copy !req
1200. No, I'm not quitting.
I'm starting.Copy !req
1201. You wouldn't understand.
I gotta go.Copy !req
1202. - You'll get there quicker if I drive you.
- Thanks.Copy !req
1203. Eddie!Copy !req
1204. Good thing the Eagles'
coach is a nurse,Copy !req
1205. 'cause I think Mr. Ogden's
gonna need one.Copy !req
1206. Uh-oh. Looks like a late
