1. It gives me great pleasure to welcome the director of the Institute

2. and my old friend,

6. Seventy-five years ago, Ms. Nellie Edvardsen,

7. overcome with guilt by the fortune her late husband's family had amassed

8. producing mustard gas during World War I,

9. founded our Institute

10. so that the wonders of science could instead be used to help mankind.

11. In the 1950s,

12. the Institute identified overpopulation

13. as mankind's single greatest long-term threat.

14. The cause of all the catastrophes we are seeing today,

15. extreme climate and weather events,

16. and the devastating impact on food and water security.

17. Among the many solutions we conceived so many years ago,

18. one, which seemed then so ambitious, so out of our grasp,

19. has finally borne fruit.

20. And today, we are proud to unveil

21. what we fervently believe to be the only practical,

22. humane and inclusive remedy

23. to humanity's gravest problem.

33. Five years ago, building on the research of our predecessors at the Institute,

34. my team and I discovered a process

35. by which all organic material can be reduced at the cellular level

36. by a ratio of approximately 2,744 to 1.

37. Such a process converts a man of 1.8 meters

38. to just 12.9 centimeters.

39. A wide array of flora and fauna were subjected in this process,

40. and, with the exception of some fish and shellfish,

41. absolutely no side effects were detected.

43. Once the safety of the procedure was confirmed,

44. 36 brave volunteers joined my wife Anne-Helene and me

45. as the very first humans to undergo cellular reduction.

46. The process is short and painless,

50. and after a brief rest, fully recover within an hour or two.

107. African dictators shrinking rival ethnic groups.

108. Look, Ron, in any major transformation of society,

109. are there serious growing pains? Sure.

110. But at current mass and volume, human life on Earth is unsustainable.
