86. The way that they work is definitely, like, having fun,

87. laughing, chasing that, and never making it, like, a grind.

263. When push comes to shove and we're in production,

264. people just have to be able to turn stuff around.

265. Most studios have a storyboard department,

266. and all they do is storyboard.

267. Then you'll have a character design department,

268. and all they do is character design,

269. and then they'll have a background design department,

270. and they'll all get a couple of days or three days or so

271. to at least do their job.

272. Everybody in here does all that,

273. and in 1/10 of the time of a normal studio.

274. Usually, Simpsons and Family Guy,

275. those shows take, like eight to ten months,

276. and we're doing it, you know, six days.

277. No one does an animated show like this.

278. On Thursday, we get one scene.

279. We jam it through the storyboard departments.

280. We get the boards drawn.

281. We get editorial to build that initial animatic.

282. The guys will go in and record that scene.

283. Trey's the quarterback.

284. We're kind of like the offensive line.

285. If Trey all of a sudden wants to do an homage to Heavy Metal,

286. the animated movie...

287. Appease the gods by lathering her boobs with soapy suds.

468. It took the guys two to three hours to do one shot,

469. and it took pretty much all summer to do the pilot.

481. You know, it was still animated,

482. but you didn't have to draw every frame.

483. He'd just draw our characters, and some of the comedy

484. comes from the crudeness of the animation.

487. Like, this is our original panning shot for the cafeteria.

488. Yeah, so the frame would be like that, you know,

489. so we'd pull the camera way in.

490. Depending on what was taped down

491. and what wasn't taped down on the animation side of it,

494. or putting on different eyes,

495. your character would have a slightly different bump

496. and a little jiggle to it.

497. It's still stop-motion animation.

501. and a bunch of really talented people looking at every piece

502. of visual art and doing it really fast.
