1. My men need me to protect them from Tozawa.

2. And you bring his mistress here?

3. I saw him. He would have killed her.

4. That is not my problem. She's not my problem.

5. I could trade her right now in exchange for peace.

6. You wouldn't do that.

7. Why? Why wouldn't I do that?

8. Because I trusted you enough to bring her here.

9. Also...

10. she's fucking Jake.

11. I'm so glad he didn't hurt you.

12. Jake, he knows about us.

13. Well, then that'll be front and center in his mind

14. when he reads my byline

15. in the article that takes him down.

16. - Are you enjoying this? - No, I'm not enjoying this.

17. I'm—I'm just—of course I'm not enjoying this.

18. What do you mean "take him down"?

19. I have confirmation that Tozawa works with the FBI.

20. Do you have your phone?

21. Sato said not to use them.

22. I know, but I need to get my article to the "Meicho,"

23. and this is the only way.

24. Maruyama-san, it's Jake.

25. Where are you?

26. I can't say, and I don't have an awful lot of time.

27. So can I dictate this FBI piece to you?

28. - Jake... - Do you have a pen and pad?

29. I'm going to start.

30. Jake, the story is not running.

31. What? What do you mean? Why?

32. The "Meicho" received a threat.

33. A threat? Are you serious?

34. I get threatened every fucking day.

35. Tin-Tin was stabbed. He's in the hospital.

36. I'm here with him now.

37. - Is—is he going to be okay? - They don't know yet.

38. What—what hospital? I'll come.

39. There's nothing you can do here.

40. Stay where you are. Stay safe.

41. And, Jake, I promise you,

42. I'll find another home for the story, okay?

43. It's all my fault.

44. I pushed the story. I dragged everyone into it.

45. What the fuck is wrong with me?

46. This is what you do. Journalists, no?

47. So you did your job. I did my job.

48. And when we do our jobs, there are...

49. - Consequences. - Consequences.

50. I do not know how to protect these people now.

51. It will not be long before Tozawa finds us.

52. I know someone who might be able to help.

53. Give me your phone.

54. Come on, I know it's a risk,

55. but what other choice do we have?

56. - Katagiri. - It's Jake.

57. Where have you been?

58. I've tried to reach you many times.

59. I've been tied up.

60. Were you able to prove Tozawa worked with the FBI, hmm?

61. The story's not going to run.

62. Tozawa had my colleague at the "Meicho" stabbed

63. as a warning.

64. They shelved it.

65. Okay.

66. It is time for a different plan.

67. Taniguchi Misaki, you know her?

68. Yeah, we've met.

69. What the fuck were you thinking?

70. Hooking up with the mistress of a gangster?

71. It's not a hook-up, okay?

72. When this is over, her and I are going to—

73. When it's over? You might end up getting her killed.

74. And what about you?

75. I'm not going to be scolded

76. by an ex-Mormon missionary turned yakuza gun moll.

77. What the fuck is wrong with us?

78. Mm...

79. we're going to be okay.

80. Hai.

81. Oh, shit.

82. - You cannot come. - Come on, you got to let me.

83. This is police business.

84. Katagiri is sending officers he trusts

85. to protect the building.

86. They'll be here soon.

87. But I must leave now.

88. To do what?

89. The detective has a plan to finish Tozawa.

90. Hai.

91. Hai.

92. Hai!

93. We got him. We fucking got him.

94. What'll the charge be for this?

95. What'll Tozawa be arrested for?

96. We will know soon.

97. Tozawa's men are outside.

98. - Any cops out there? - No.

99. Come on.

100. They're receipts— proof Shigematsu

101. received big campaign donations from Tozawa.

102. We should check it against the political-contribution records.

103. But I'm certain it wasn't reported.

104. And that's bad news, right?

105. Ministers have had to resign for unreported donations.

106. Tokyo's most notorious gangster

107. tries to buy the next prime minister.

108. We print this, Shigematsu's done.

109. Will the "Meicho" print it if they fear more attacks?

110. Tozawa is exposed here, too.

111. Let me take this.

112. Oh.

113. You should have this back.

114. Good work.

115. Oi.

116. Let's go over here.

117. I am sorry to put all these people in danger.

118. Hey, it's not your fault.

119. Well, it's not completely your fault.

120. Well, hopefully we all make it out of here alive

121. and you and Jake can have your "happily ever after."

122. Tell him you'll meet him,

123. that you need time and you'll call him back.

124. Please tell me you have a plan.

125. Shinohara.

126. It's Jason.

127. You need to get over to my place right now.

128. What restaurant?

129. Some fancy place Tozawa used to take her to.

130. I had her tell him Jake would only meet in public.

131. I just texted you the address.

132. And she is willing to do this?

133. Yeah. Now I just got to track Jake down.

134. We're headed there soon,

135. so you might want to get things moving on your end.

136. Thank you, Samantha.

137. Good luck.

138. - What's going on? - They're sending me home.

139. What? Why?

140. For disclosing confidential information.

141. I might be brought up on charges.

142. Jason...

143. I'm so sorry.

144. Was it you, Jun?

145. Of course not.

146. I promise. I had nothing to do with this.

147. Well, there's only one other person

148. who could have told on me.

149. There must be another explanation.

150. Whatever you got from this info,

151. I hope it was worth it.

152. The story about Shigematsu will go to print?

153. My editor's working on it right now.

154. And...

155. off the record,

156. when are you bringing Tozawa in?

157. Once he's locked up,

158. maybe I can get my story about him back on track.

159. I will not be arresting Tozawa.

160. I gave the contract to Sato.

161. He will use it to administer a different kind of justice.

162. I should check in with Misaki.

163. Hey, are you okay?

164. What, you're where?

165. So he's coming?

166. I'll be close by.

167. You got this.

168. Tozawa...

169. - They're all inside? - Yeah, all of them.

170. Hai.

171. Tanaka, Ichikawa, Naruse— they all showed up.

172. Mossad?

173. - Mossad? - Yeah, hey.

174. - Is that you? - Yeah.

175. Yeah, it's me.

176. You look like shit.

177. Look who's talking.

178. How you feeling?

179. I'm...

180. I'm hungry.

181. That's good.

182. Can I have something to eat?

183. Sorry, but the doctor says broth only.

184. You are a terrible friend.

185. I know.

186. I'm glad you're back, buddy.

187. Me too.

188. Okay.

189. He's up and awake.

190. Nice.

191. I need to ask you something.

192. Did you tell that FBI woman

193. that Jason was our source?

194. They're sending him home

195. because somebody named him.

196. Only two people knew— me and you.

197. You really think I would sell out a source?

198. All I know is that it wasn't me.

199. There's got to be some other explanation.

200. There's surveillance all over that fucking place,

201. people listening—

202. Hai.

203. Yo!

204. How are you feeling?

205. Better.

206. I'm still shaken.

207. Are you glad he's dead?

208. After everything that fucker did?

209. Yeah.

210. It was great to see him get what he deserved.

211. What?

212. My mother came close to being killed.

213. - As did I. - Yeah.

214. But he's gone now.

215. You're both safe. You don't have to worry.

216. He is gone.

217. But, Jake...

218. I need a life where the yakuza and police

219. have nothing to do with me.

220. We can have that.

221. No...

222. we cannot.

223. Misaki—

224. A quiet, boring life— do you really want that?

225. Will you actually live that?

226. You will do daring, exciting things.

227. And I will read all about them in the paper.

228. - How did you get in? - I have friends here now.

229. Better watch your step.

230. Mmm, looks good.

231. - The suit? - The job.

232. You already look like a new man.

233. Thank you.

234. See you tonight?

235. Actually, that's why I stopped by.

236. I'm leaving town,

237. just for a little while.

238. I didn't say anything because I wasn't sure.

239. But I had a meeting today, and it went really well.

240. And now I decided.

241. I'm going to recharge my batteries

242. and do some thinking.

243. Then I'll be back.

244. Where are you going?

245. I'll be in touch.

246. Oh...

247. I wanted to show you.

248. Took them long enough to publish it, but here it is.

249. Yeah, I saw.

250. I'm a subscriber.

251. How does it feel to finally see it in print?

252. Well, I guess it feels...

253. deflating.

254. All being done with one thing means

255. is that you haven't started the next one yet.

256. So...

257. what'll you do now?

258. Nothing.

259. That is what retirement is.

260. Right, I get that, but...

261. a lot of people have second careers,

262. second acts.

263. Tell me, what should be my second act?

264. Well, Japan needs a new prime minister.

265. I do not care for politics.

266. You could be a...

267. a boat tour guide for tourists.

268. I do not care for tourists.

269. I just don't see this retirement thing working out.

270. You're going to be back on the beat in two weeks.

271. No.

272. I love being retired.

273. I love doing nothing.

274. It is you, Jake, who cannot do nothing.

275. You cannot stop.

276. You said it to me in this house—

277. I won't stop until I get them.

278. I can do nothing.

279. I can do nothing better than you.

280. I got to take a leak.

281. What, like you could do better?
