Percy grumbles about taking the milk when Daisy doesn't bother to do so. Toby offers him to swap jobs; he takes the milk and Percy fetches his trucks. However, Percy becomes rather cocky and soon finds himself in trouble with runaway trucks and a breakvan in the way...

17. They were so quiet, Percy thought they were under control.

18. They saw a notice ahead.

19. “Peep-peep. Brakes, guard.”

20. But the trucks surged forward.

21. “On, on," they cried. "Help!" whistled Percy.

22. The man on duty rushed to warn traffic.

23. He was too late to switch Percy to the runaway siding.

24. Gripping the rails, Percy sped into the yard. "Look out!"

25. The brake van was in pieces. The driver had jumped clear.

26. Percy was stranded.

27. The Fat Controller arrived. Toby and Daisy had cleared up.

28. Percy remained on his perch of trucks.

29. “We must run the line with Toby and a diesel.

30. “This is an awkward predicament."

31. “Lam sorry, sir." "Stay there till we are ready.

32. “It'll teach you to be careful."

33. Percy sighed. The trucks groaned.

34. He understood awkward predicaments.

35. The Fat Controller told Daisy off.

36. “I send lazy engines away.”

37. Daisy was ashamed. "Toby says you worked hard after Percy's accident.

38. “So one more chance.”

39. “Thank you. I will work hard. Toby will help me.”

40. “What Toby doesn't know isn't worth knowing.

41. “Toby's experienced.”

42. Next day Thomas came back.

43. Percy was sent to be mended.

44. Annie and Clarabel were delighted and Thomas took them for a run.

45. All are now friends and Toby has taught Daisy a lot.

46. She shooed a cow off the line.
