1. Man, this little piece of wood
ain't gonna hold no twister!Copy !req
2. We need to dig a hole,
you know what I'm saying?Copy !req
3. A big hole. The man ought
to be givin' us shovels.Copy !req
4. This whole damn place is going
to blow away. Why even bother?Copy !req
5. - Yo, boy, back me up, here!
- Shut up and hold it still.Copy !req
6. I know you ain't talkin' to me!Copy !req
7. You a big man, huh?Copy !req
8. Is that right? Charley potatoes.
Big-ass criminal. You a bad man?Copy !req
9. You a bitch, that's all you are.
You ain't got no money.Copy !req
10. You ain't got nothing.Copy !req
11. I'll hold it still.Copy !req
12. Is that still enough for ya?Copy !req
13. Huh?Copy !req
14. Put down the hammer, Rawls!Copy !req
15. Rawls!Copy !req
16. - Messed up old Whaley, did he?
- Messed him up good.Copy !req
17. Now what'd you go and do that for?Copy !req
18. - Man pissed me off, Boss.
- Who the hell doesn't? Box him.Copy !req
19. You can't put me in that box, Boss.
The... the storm's coming.Copy !req
20. Should have thought of that before
you messed up old Whaley.Copy !req
21. Well, to hell with Whaley.
You can't put me in that box!Copy !req
22. Boss! You can't put me in there!
You can't put me in that box!Copy !req
23. You can't do it!Copy !req
24. You're going to kill me, Boss!
Boss!Copy !req
25. You know they're saying tornado
touchdowns all over the county.Copy !req
26. I can't be responsible for Acts of God.Copy !req
27. Sorry, Rawls.Copy !req
28. Let me out! Let me out!Copy !req
29. Let me out!Copy !req
30. Heeeelp! Somebody!Copy !req
31. Somebody help me, please!Copy !req
32. Oh, hell.Copy !req
33. Hello, sir?Copy !req
34. Oh, my God...Copy !req
35. HINDS COUNTY MORGUE
JACKSON, MISSISSIPPICopy !req
36. Should we arrest David Copperfield?Copy !req
37. Yes, we should... but not for this.Copy !req
38. Now this is, uh, Raybert Fellowes superintendent of
Road Farm Six, Mississippi Department of Corrections.Copy !req
39. One of his guards found him in his office.
Not a drop of blood in the place.Copy !req
40. - Well, maybe he was killed elsewhere.
- No, I don't think so.Copy !req
41. Whoever did it took 40 minutes to do it
in the middle of a tornado.Copy !req
42. What do you make of that?Copy !req
43. I don't know. It's, uh... it's
not a simple bisection.Copy !req
44. There's a considerable amount
of his abdomen missing.Copy !req
45. I mean, it almost looks like a
burning but it's too localized.Copy !req
46. Maybe an industrial acid.Copy !req
47. There's, um... no acid found in his office.Copy !req
48. Spontaneous human combustion.Copy !req
49. - Scully...!
- Well, isn't that where you're going with this?Copy !req
50. Dear Diary: Today my heart leapt when Agent Scully
suggested spontaneous human combustion.Copy !req
51. Mulder, there are one or two
somewhat well-documented cases.Copy !req
52. Mulder, shut up.Copy !req
53. - Okay. What do you make of this?
- I don't have a theory.Copy !req
54. But I know of someone who does.Copy !req
55. Hell, yes, Pinker Rawls who did it.Copy !req
56. Though you got me as to how.Copy !req
57. - And who is Pinker Rawls?
- An inmate.
- Mean son of a bitch.Copy !req
58. Rawls was the prisoner who supposedly died in the tornado
that preceded superintendent Fellowes's murder.Copy !req
59. So you're saying that a ghost did this?Copy !req
60. I'm not putting the word to it.
That's up to y'all.Copy !req
61. All I know is that Rawls
hated the Captain.Copy !req
62. Captain locked him in the box when the storm hit
and Rawls didn't want to be locked in the box...Copy !req
63. and when we found the box biggest piece was
about yay big... three miles from here.Copy !req
64. Now, this whole place was locked
and boarded up tight.Copy !req
65. No man got in here.Copy !req
66. That's all I'm saying.Copy !req
67. So we're looking for a dead man?Copy !req
68. I disagree.Copy !req
69. I think this Pinker Rawls is still very much alive.
You know, they never found his body.Copy !req
70. Okay. Well, at the risk of further ridicule,
Mulder, what if this wasn't a murder?Copy !req
71. I mean as I understand it, current theory
on spontaneous human combustion...Copy !req
72. is that climatic conditions play a large part.
So, possibly a tornado may fit the bill.Copy !req
73. We've got lightning, um, static
electricity at a high potential.Copy !req
74. I can't argue with that.Copy !req
75. But I do think it's murder.Copy !req
76. Well, then how did Rawls
or whoever do this?Copy !req
77. How did he get in and out of a locked office and
prop a body up against the inside of a door?Copy !req
78. Termites?Copy !req
79. This is all he had in his bunk area.Copy !req
80. Wilson Pinker Rawls, age 34.Copy !req
81. Eight years into 30 for robbing a
wire office in Bay Saint Louis.Copy !req
82. The $90,000 he stole was never recovered.Copy !req
83. Well, it's not in here.Copy !req
84. Hey. Look at this.Copy !req
85. His record dates to 1978. Mostly small-time.
History of violence throughout.Copy !req
86. I wonder who she is.Copy !req
87. Thanks, Cutie.Copy !req
88. - Hey, you broke out the good stuff.
- Well, we're worth the good stuff.Copy !req
89. Hey, Robert?Copy !req
90. Can I show you something?
I mean, just a little food for thought?Copy !req
91. Wh... Oh. Wait, Sweetie.
They're talking about the tornado.Copy !req
92. Take a look at this video just in.Copy !req
93. Hardest hit was a state prison farm
outside the village of Stringer...Copy !req
94. where two deaths are reported in
the wake of the storm.Copy !req
95. A funnel cloud with winds topping 150 miles per hour
tore through the isolated work camp...Copy !req
96. passing within yards of a barracks
filled with terrified inmates.Copy !req
97. Among the dead, Captain Raybert Fellowes,
the farm's superintendent,Copy !req
98. a 28-year veteran of the Department of Corrections.
A second casualty was a prison inmate:Copy !req
99. Wilson P. Rawls, age 34, of Pascagoula.
Prison authorities say...Copy !req
100. - Excuse me.
- ... whose job was to secure the prison...Copy !req
101. - You okay, June?
- ... from the oncoming storm.Copy !req
102. High winds apparently carried the man away.Copy !req
103. Though his body has not been found, Rawls
is presumed dead. In other news...Copy !req
104. You got a gun pointed at you.
Don't try to run.Copy !req
105. I ain't runnin'.Copy !req
106. Hey! Hey, that's store property.
Take those off.Copy !req
107. Oh... There's something so nice about
putting on a brand-new pair of socks.Copy !req
108. - I don't know what it is.
- I said, take those off, boy.Copy !req
109. What you think?Copy !req
110. That's me, right?Copy !req
111. - And room to grow in.
- You got an attitude, I'll say that.Copy !req
112. Get the hell up.Copy !req
113. Turn around.
Hands behind the pole.Copy !req
114. This is Bobby in security.Copy !req
115. I've detained an intruder at the Val-U-Mart
on Nine Mile Road and Route 60.Copy !req
116. I don't know how the hell he got in here.Copy !req
117. Got him cuffed in the back.Copy !req
118. Yeah, I'll hold.Copy !req
119. Is that the guy?Copy !req
120. Yeah, could be.
I guess. It was pretty dark.Copy !req
121. How'd he get away?Copy !req
122. - Whoever he was.
- You got me. The guy's like Houdini.Copy !req
123. Turned my back and he was gone.
I had him right here.Copy !req
124. You had him handcuffed... here.Copy !req
125. Can I see your handcuffs?Copy !req
126. We have a last known
address for Pinker Rawls?Copy !req
127. Hey, hello?Copy !req
128. Rawls?Copy !req
129. What's up?Copy !req
130. You're on the news, man.
They're saying you got killed.Copy !req
131. Where is she?Copy !req
132. June? She's gone. Long gone, man.
She left me, like, four years ago.Copy !req
133. You mad 'cause her and me shacked up?Copy !req
134. I'm sorry, buddy.Copy !req
135. Bo, I want what's mine.Copy !req
136. I might have her address.Copy !req
137. You got nothing in there but your nine.Copy !req
138. Get the hell out of my house.Copy !req
139. Bo, you're going to shoot me?Copy !req
140. Are you gonna do something?Copy !req
141. This is Rawls's last known address.
Security guard's car.Copy !req
142. Mulder.Copy !req
143. Gesundheit.Copy !req
144. Oh, my God.Copy !req
145. Pistol in his hand, slide locked open,
shell casings everywhere.Copy !req
146. I don't see any bullet
holes anywhere, Mulder.Copy !req
147. Don't recognize him from
his driver's license, do you?Copy !req
148. Bo Merkle.
This is his house.Copy !req
149. Yeah, but Rawls used to live here and
he's come back looking for something.Copy !req
150. 90,000 dollars.Copy !req
151. The wire office robbery eight years ago.
The money hasn't been recovered.Copy !req
152. I don't think he spent that in prison.Copy !req
153. I don't think Mr. Merkle did either,
judging by the decor.Copy !req
154. Maybe she knows.
That's this house, isn't it?Copy !req
155. Yeah.Copy !req
156. - I can run down the name.
- Yeah, I bet Rawls is looking for her.Copy !req
157. Yeah, this is Special Agent
Dana Scully with the FBI.Copy !req
158. There's been a murder here at
922 Washington Avenue in Jackson.Copy !req
159. I need crime scene support on-site
as soon as possible. Thank you.Copy !req
160. Oh, and could you transfer me to
the records division, please?Copy !req
161. Got a name to go with the face.Copy !req
162. June Gurwitch. There's no current address,
though and, uh, no record of her since 1996.Copy !req
163. Maybe she changed her name.Copy !req
164. Maybe she was afraid she'd
end up like that.Copy !req
165. The state police have put out
an APB on Rawls.Copy !req
166. You might warn them not to shoot to kill.
He seems to find that annoying.Copy !req
167. Look, Mulder, even if those were bullets...Copy !req
168. They are. It's just that their
composition has been changed...Copy !req
169. just like the handcuffs and
just like the prison wall.Copy !req
170. Even if these were bullets, there is no way that they could
pass through Rawls in the way that you're describing-not,Copy !req
171. not without leaving him sprawled
dead on the ground for us to find.Copy !req
172. I think they just went
right through him,Copy !req
173. like his wrist went through the handcuffs and
like he walked right through that prison wall.Copy !req
174. - He walks through solid objects?
- Changing their composition fundamentally,Copy !req
175. making steel brittle, turning
lead bullets into powder.Copy !req
176. - And flesh into carbon.
- I don't know how else to explain...Copy !req
177. what happened to that prison superintendent or to poor
Mr. Merkle over there, who's got no face anymore.Copy !req
178. But where's the science in all of this, Mulder?
You're talking alchemy.Copy !req
179. I'm not saying that it can't be explained
scientifically. Maybe it's the tornado.Copy !req
180. You suggested it yourself. Unusual climatic
conditions... high electrical potential...Copy !req
181. I'm sorry I even brought it up.Copy !req
182. - Okay, we both agree on who he's looking for?
- June Gurwitch.Copy !req
183. And do we have any idea of how
to find June Gurwitch?Copy !req
184. She has a sister named Jackie,
and I have the address.Copy !req
185. Hello.Copy !req
186. Hey, it's me.
Is this a good time?Copy !req
187. - No, Jackie, it is never a good time.
- Look, the Jackson City police just called me.Copy !req
188. Yeah. They're looking for you.Copy !req
189. - What'd you tell them?
- Nothing, but they brought up Pinker...Copy !req
190. and they wanted to know what
he might want with you.Copy !req
191. - Pinker's dead. I heard it on the news today.
- Well, maybe you'd better call him...Copy !req
192. just in case he's not.Copy !req
193. - June?
- I got to go.Copy !req
194. June?Copy !req
195. Hey, Jackie.Copy !req
196. That's not very friendly, Jackie.Copy !req
197. Jackie...Copy !req
198. Tell me where she is.Copy !req
199. I'm not telling you anything.Copy !req
200. Jackie Gurwitch?Copy !req
201. FBI!Copy !req
202. "I WANT WHAT'S MINE"Copy !req
203. Where'd he go?Copy !req
204. He left.Copy !req
205. Her son's spending the night at a friend's
house and she's going to meet them there.Copy !req
206. She said that she didn't tell
Rawls where her sister was.Copy !req
207. Mulder, she said that he walked
right through the wall.Copy !req
208. Bo Merkle's car is parked down
the street. That's how he got here.Copy !req
209. - I don't know how he left.
- Maybe he left on foot or he stole another car.Copy !req
210. Why would he leave without getting
the information he wanted?Copy !req
211. Well, maybe he's still in the neighborhood. I think the,
uh, local PD can search but we have to get going.Copy !req
212. - Where to?
- To Meridian.Copy !req
213. That's where June Gurwitch lives...
or June Burdett as she's now called.Copy !req
214. - Yes?
- Agents Scully and Mulder with the FBI.Copy !req
215. We are looking for a June Gurwitch,
also known as June Burdett.Copy !req
216. "also known as..."
June.Copy !req
217. Look, what's this all about?Copy !req
218. An escaped convict by the name
of Wilson Pinker Rawls.Copy !req
219. We believe that he may be pursuing Ms. Gurwitch
with the intention of harming her.Copy !req
220. "Gurwitch"?
I don't understand.Copy !req
221. June?Copy !req
222. Pinker's alive, isn't he?Copy !req
223. Jackie? She and her son...?Copy !req
224. They're fine.Copy !req
225. Who is Rawls to you?Copy !req
226. A mistake.Copy !req
227. The biggest one of many.Copy !req
228. We lived together.Copy !req
229. Are you sure you know who
you're looking for?Copy !req
230. I remember one time this guy cuts Pinker off on the
highway. I mean, just cut him off-you know,Copy !req
231. kind of thing that happens
to everybody every day.Copy !req
232. He followed this guy for 62 miles right over the state
line; 62 miles. Me pleading with him the whole way to stop.Copy !req
233. Follows the guy up to his house. The guy gets out of his
car, smiling. He doesn't know what's coming to him.Copy !req
234. Pinker pulls a picket off a white picket fence
and cracks that guy's skull open with it.Copy !req
235. - He's not going to stop.
- What does Rawls want?Copy !req
236. The money?Copy !req
237. $90,000 from the Bay
Saint Louis robbery?Copy !req
238. I didn't even know about that till they came
to the door to arrest him, okay?Copy !req
239. I mean, Pinker was already in
prison before I found that money.Copy !req
240. By accident.Copy !req
241. So you took it.Copy !req
242. Eventually, yeah.Copy !req
243. - I thought about it for about a week or two.
- And where's the money now?Copy !req
244. Put a down payment on this place.Copy !req
245. Bought a couple of sofas...
chintz curtains... PC for Robert.Copy !req
246. I just wanted another chance.Copy !req
247. Look, I have a job. I've got responsibilities.
I can't just disappear like this.Copy !req
248. It's best you both stay under 24-hour
guard until Rawls is apprehended.Copy !req
249. - It's for your protection.
- No, it's for her protection. Let's be clear here.Copy !req
250. This guy Rawls or whoever, he's not
looking for me. She took his money.Copy !req
251. - Robert, I'm sorry...
- Excuse me.Copy !req
252. I've got my own place. I promise to stay the hell
away from here, okay? How about it?Copy !req
253. Look, I just want to get out of here, okay?
I didn't break any laws.Copy !req
254. Don't discuss this with
anyone, Mr. Werther.Copy !req
255. I'm forgetting it ever happened.Copy !req
256. Give me your keys.Copy !req
257. Get her out of here.
I want a guard on her at all times.Copy !req
258. - Rawls was in the trunk?
- Yeah. And we took him right where he wanted to go.Copy !req
259. Mulder?Copy !req
260. "I WANT WHAT'S MINE"Copy !req
261. You think he's trying to
tell us something?Copy !req
262. Scully, look at this.Copy !req
263. I'm assuming Rawls wrote this with his
finger just like the other one. Look here.Copy !req
264. - He stopped at the mirror.
- Or the mirror stopped him.Copy !req
265. What makes an object solid, Scully?Copy !req
266. I mean, what, what prevents one solid object from
passing through another solid object, usually?Copy !req
267. Electrostatic repulsion.Copy !req
268. Individual electrons repelling one
another like magnets.Copy !req
269. Electrons. What if Rawls's ability somehow has to do
electricity? What would preclude it or contain it?Copy !req
270. Resistance against electrical current.
A good insulator like rubber, like glass.Copy !req
271. Exactly. Rawls couldn't pass
through this.Copy !req
272. Say... say that your theory is correct,
that he can walk through walls.Copy !req
273. Why go through all this effort over an old robbery score?
It's $90,000— he could get that anywhere, right?Copy !req
274. It's not about the money.
It's never been about the money.Copy !req
275. Yet he turned this place upside down which
means he was looking for something.Copy !req
276. And I think it has to do with this.Copy !req
277. It's a lien on unpaid hospital bills
dating back to 1992...Copy !req
278. and the patient name is June Gurwitch.Copy !req
279. And this is an IC D-9 number;
a hospital diagnostic code.Copy !req
280. - This particular one means...
- Pregnancy.Copy !req
281. Right. Specifically, c-section.Copy !req
282. This is seven years ago.Copy !req
283. That's just a few months after Rawls
was sent to a prison farm.Copy !req
284. "I want what's mine." This man is
looking for his child, Mulder.Copy !req
285. and will return in time to take
part in meetings at the UN.Copy !req
286. A statewide manhunt is underway at this point
as escaped convict Wilson Pinker Rawls,Copy !req
287. a man previously thought to be a victim of
Tuesday's storm, continues to elude police.Copy !req
288. He is to be considered armed
and extremely dangerous.Copy !req
289. I'd like to call my sister.Copy !req
290. Sorry, ma'am. No calls.Copy !req
291. This is a non-smoking room, ma'am.Copy !req
292. Looks like Collins put up a fight.
Guess it wasn't enough.Copy !req
293. I can't tell you what happened
here, how Rawls got in,Copy !req
294. but he took the woman with him.Copy !req
295. - Where are they headed?
- They stole a station wagon. Last seen headed south.Copy !req
296. He has to intend for June to
lead him to his child.Copy !req
297. - Yeah, we got to get there first.
- Yeah, but where? We don't have a name or an address.Copy !req
298. I mean, June may not either, for that matter.
If the child was... was adopted...Copy !req
299. I think our best bet is to go through state
records but it's going to take some time.Copy !req
300. I'm going to need some equipment.
Special issue.Copy !req
301. Pinker, I apologize.Copy !req
302. Look, I'm really scared right now, okay?
Talk to me.Copy !req
303. Please... please say something.
Anything.Copy !req
304. Look, I'm sorry about the money, your money.
I shouldn't have taken it. It was wrong.Copy !req
305. I was wrong.Copy !req
306. Pinker, I can pay you back.Copy !req
307. What was it?
What'd you have?Copy !req
308. You dumb bitch. You don't even
know what I'm talking about.Copy !req
309. What'd you have?
Was it a boy or a girl?Copy !req
310. A boy... a boy.Copy !req
311. A boy... a boy... a boy.Copy !req
312. What's his name?Copy !req
313. You know his name, don't you?Copy !req
314. - Trevor Andrew.
- Trevor what?Copy !req
315. Trevor Andrew.Copy !req
316. Trevor Andrew... Rawls.Copy !req
317. You never were going to tell me.Copy !req
318. I'd have gone to my grave
never knowing.Copy !req
319. But years later, a million-to-one shot,Copy !req
320. I hear on the Farm from a guy who knew a
guy who knew a guy. You know what that means?Copy !req
321. That means God wanted
me to know.Copy !req
322. He fixed it so I'd hear... and then
he fixed it so I'd have passage.Copy !req
323. And I'm here.Copy !req
324. God's will.Copy !req
325. What do you want with the boy?Copy !req
326. He's my son.Copy !req
327. Now you're going to
take me to him.Copy !req
328. Yeah, can you also check her alias, please?
It's Burdett, B-u—Copy !req
329. It was a live birth,
that's all you can tell me?Copy !req
330. Yeah, can you check on
that, please?Copy !req
331. - This what you were looking for?
- Yes. Thank you.Copy !req
332. All right, thank you very much.Copy !req
333. No match on Burdett or Gurwitch.Copy !req
334. Riot slugs, rubber.Copy !req
335. Yeah.Copy !req
336. No.Copy !req
337. Thank you.Copy !req
338. It's a boy. That's all I got.Copy !req
339. - Sealed files?
- No official files.Copy !req
340. No adoption records, no records of foster care
in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, nothing.Copy !req
341. Well, maybe she didn't go
through official channels.Copy !req
342. Maybe... maybe the kid's with a
friend or a relative somewhere.Copy !req
343. Come on, Trevor, put your...Copy !req
344. Trevor, put your toys away.
Dinner's almost ready.Copy !req
345. Trevor?Copy !req
346. - I'll get it.
- No. Go wash your hands. I'll get it.Copy !req
347. Jackie, this is Agent Mulder...Copy !req
348. June.Copy !req
349. I'm so sorry.Copy !req
350. You could have saved me a trip.Copy !req
351. Where is he?Copy !req
352. My boy, where is he?Copy !req
353. Right.Copy !req
354. I appreciate all you've done.Copy !req
355. Taking care of him.Copy !req
