1. Get the tape.Copy !req
2. Get it. It's in the back.Copy !req
3. Come on!Copy !req
4. It's all right.Copy !req
5. You don't have to do this.Copy !req
6. No.Copy !req
7. I want to.Copy !req
8. Why are you doing this?Copy !req
9. Come.Copy !req
10. His name was Isaac Luria.Copy !req
11. He lived in the Williamsburg
section of Brooklyn—Copy !req
12. home to a sect
of Hasidic JewsCopy !req
13. who have lived there since
the late 19th century.Copy !req
14. It's an area also known
for its historyCopy !req
15. of racial tension
and hate crimes—Copy !req
16. Yankel Rosenbaum,
Tawana Brawley...Copy !req
17. And now Isaac Luria.
Yeah.Copy !req
18. He was murdered two days ago
in the market that he owned—Copy !req
19. severely beaten and shot five
times at point-blank range.Copy !req
20. Police ruled out robbery 'cause
the only thing that was missingCopy !req
21. was this videotape from
the surveillance camera.Copy !req
22. Police found it
early this morning.Copy !req
23. Police found it
early this morning.Copy !req
24. Where?Copy !req
25. In the VCR of a 16-year-old
named Tony Oliver.Copy !req
26. That's him
on the upper right.Copy !req
27. Has he been arrested?Copy !req
28. No.Copy !req
29. Because he's dead.Copy !req
30. Apparently, he'd beenCopy !req
31. watching this tape
when he was strangled to death.Copy !req
32. Very Old Testament.Copy !req
33. Yeah, but with a new twist.Copy !req
34. The Brooklyn homicide detectivesCopy !req
35. contacted the FBI's
Civil Rights branchCopy !req
36. with an interesting set
of fingerprintsCopy !req
37. with an interesting set
of fingerprintsCopy !req
38. that they pulled off
of the boy's body.Copy !req
39. Interesting how?Copy !req
40. Interesting in thatCopy !req
41. they belong to Isaac Luria.Copy !req
42. Risen from the grave
to avenge his own death?Copy !req
43. Some people might assume that.Copy !req
44. It's probably what someone
would like us to think.Copy !req
45. But you have your own idea.Copy !req
46. I think that this is
a crime of hatredCopy !req
47. like the crime that spawned it—Copy !req
48. a hatred that
goes back 4,000 years,Copy !req
49. but masquerading
as something else here.Copy !req
50. A callow attempt
at murderous retributionCopy !req
51. A callow attempt
at murderous retributionCopy !req
52. disguised as spectral justice.Copy !req
53. A resurrection hoax?Copy !req
54. And not a very good one.Copy !req
55. Yeah, spectral figures
are not oftenCopy !req
56. known to leave fingerprints;
Casper never did.Copy !req
57. Somehow the killer got ahold
of Isaac Luria's fingerprints,Copy !req
58. and we have been asked
to prove how.Copy !req
59. Excuse me, sir.Copy !req
60. We're with the FBI.Copy !req
61. We'd like to speak
with Ariel Luria.Copy !req
62. Is she home?Copy !req
63. I'm Ariel's father,
Jacob Weiss.Copy !req
64. I'm Ariel's father,
Jacob Weiss.Copy !req
65. Why are you
bothering her again?Copy !req
66. She's already spoken
with the police.Copy !req
67. It's all right.
Let them in.Copy !req
68. Please.Copy !req
69. Come in.Copy !req
70. Thank you.Copy !req
71. We can talk in the study.Copy !req
72. This is why you're here?Copy !req
73. This is why you're here?Copy !req
74. This is what you come to ask
in this house of mourning?Copy !req
75. What is this?Copy !req
76. We would like your permission
to reopen Isaac's grave.Copy !req
77. No!Copy !req
78. The answer's no!Copy !req
79. Why does this
have to be done?Copy !req
80. We're looking for evidence
in the murder of this young man.Copy !req
81. His name is Tony Oliver.Copy !req
82. He is one of three suspects
in the murder of your husband.Copy !req
83. We believe it was
an act of retaliationCopy !req
84. We believe it was
an act of retaliationCopy !req
85. and that the other
two suspects are targets.Copy !req
86. He's just a boy.Copy !req
87. He's an animal—Copy !req
88. a monster—Copy !req
89. just like the others
who killed Isaac,Copy !req
90. whose grave you're
asking us to desecrateCopy !req
91. so you can now protect them.Copy !req
92. Tata, please.Copy !req
93. But where were youCopy !req
94. when Isaac needed
your protection?Copy !req
95. When we called the police,Copy !req
96. they said
that we were paranoid,Copy !req
97. that there was nothing
to worry about.Copy !req
98. They always say that
when someone threatens the Jews.Copy !req
99. They always say that
when someone threatens the Jews.Copy !req
100. So, there was
a specific threat of violence?Copy !req
101. The threat is always there.Copy !req
102. Just this morning...Copy !req
103. this is what I find
under our door.Copy !req
104. And now you've come
here not to help us,Copy !req
105. but to ask our help so you
can impose your justiceCopy !req
106. on the only man who's taken
justice into his own hands.Copy !req
107. We would be happy
not to disturb the gravesiteCopy !req
108. if you could tell us
who that man is.Copy !req
109. if you could tell us
who that man is.Copy !req
110. Even if I knew,
why would I tell you?Copy !req
111. Because this isCopy !req
112. a homicide investigation, sir,Copy !req
113. and you are required by law
to assist us.Copy !req
114. I know all about your laws.Copy !req
115. Sir, I'm afraid
that even without your consent,Copy !req
116. we can get a court order
to exhume Isaac's grave.Copy !req
117. Do what you feel is necessary.Copy !req
118. But leave us alone.Copy !req
119. Let us mourn in peace.Copy !req
120. Let us mourn in peace.Copy !req
121. I have a feeling he knows
who killed Tony Oliver, Mulder.Copy !req
122. Think he doesn't want us
disturbing Luria's graveCopy !req
123. because he knows
what we'll find.Copy !req
124. because he knows
what we'll find.Copy !req
125. Maybe.Copy !req
126. But it's hard
to fault his attitudeCopy !req
127. when you see
something like that.Copy !req
128. And anybody delivering
justice to a peopleCopy !req
129. who've known that kind
of persecution and hatred—Copy !req
130. why wouldn't they protect him?Copy !req
131. Justice or revenge?Copy !req
132. I'm not saying those kids
don't warrantCopy !req
133. full prosecution
under the law,Copy !req
134. but the hatemongering
goes both ways.Copy !req
135. Yes, but the right
to free expressionCopy !req
136. doesn't extend to murder.Copy !req
137. I bet that whoever
published thatCopy !req
138. knows the boys
who killed Isaac Luria,Copy !req
139. and probably has a good idea
who killed Tony Oliver, too.Copy !req
140. Well, sure, I knew him;
the man owned the storeCopy !req
141. right across the street.Copy !req
142. But I'd be lyingCopy !req
143. if I said I was surprised
it happened.Copy !req
144. Why is that?Copy !req
145. Well, you know
how they are.Copy !req
146. Well, you know
how they are.Copy !req
147. They're always trying
to find ways to make moneyCopy !req
148. off of honest folks
who work for a living.Copy !req
149. Can you think of anyone who
might have held a grudge?Copy !req
150. I can't think
of anyone who didn't.Copy !req
151. Did you?Copy !req
152. Why?Copy !req
153. I'm... not under
any kind of suspicion, am I?Copy !req
154. No, not directly,
but these young men are,Copy !req
155. and we have reason to
believe that you know them.Copy !req
156. Their names are Derek Banks
and Clinton MacGuire.Copy !req
157. I'm sorry.
I'm not familiar with them.Copy !req
158. Are you familiar
with this?Copy !req
159. Are you familiar
with this?Copy !req
160. We think those kids
are familiar with it,Copy !req
161. enough to incite them to
the murder of Isaac Luria.Copy !req
162. You work for them, too,
don't you?Copy !req
163. Who?
You know who.Copy !req
164. You look like you mightCopy !req
165. be one yourself.Copy !req
166. We work for the FBI, sir.Copy !req
167. Who's the FBI work for?Copy !req
168. That's right.Copy !req
169. You call me paranoid,Copy !req
170. 'cause that's exactly
what they want you to do.Copy !req
171. But there is one thing
you can't call me,Copy !req
172. and that is
a Zionist collaborator.Copy !req
173. and that is
a Zionist collaborator.Copy !req
174. You take a long look
at these photos.Copy !req
175. It may be your last chance
to save their lives.Copy !req
176. One of their
accomplices—Copy !req
177. a young man
named Tony Oliver—Copy !req
178. was found murdered
this morning.Copy !req
179. Why you telling me this?Copy !req
180. You haven't
heard the rumors?Copy !req
181. What rumors?Copy !req
182. That Luria is back
from the dead,Copy !req
183. that he's risen
from his grave.Copy !req
184. What kind of Jew trick is this?Copy !req
185. A Jew pulled it off
2,000 years ago.Copy !req
186. A Jew pulled it off
2,000 years ago.Copy !req
187. We're just relating
the evidence, sir.Copy !req
188. You can draw your
own conclusions.Copy !req
189. But I know you wouldn't
want to be responsibleCopy !req
190. for, uh, endangering
these young men's lives.Copy !req
191. Bless you.Copy !req
192. Derek?Copy !req
193. Are you sure about this?Copy !req
194. I heard them, man.Copy !req
195. I'm not waiting around
to find out if it's true.Copy !req
196. Damn!
What's wrong?Copy !req
197. It's nailed shut.Copy !req
198. There's some tools in the trunk.Copy !req
199. There's some tools in the trunk.Copy !req
200. I got it open, man!Copy !req
201. Get down here!Copy !req
202. Get down here!Copy !req
203. Hey, Clinton.Copy !req
204. Check it out.Copy !req
205. Clinton.Copy !req
206. Hey, Clinton.Copy !req
207. Check it out.Copy !req
208. Clinton?Copy !req
209. You trying to mess with me?Copy !req
210. Oh, man.Copy !req
211. The ligature marks
on the victim's neckCopy !req
212. are consistent with
our vigilante's M.O.Copy !req
213. Forensics come up
with anything?Copy !req
214. Yeah, second set
of footprints,Copy !req
215. but the mud was too soft
to take a mold.Copy !req
216. My guess is Clinton was
here with Derek Banks.Copy !req
217. Looking for what?Copy !req
218. Maybe they came to
desecrate the corpseCopy !req
219. as retribution for
Tony Oliver's death.Copy !req
220. That seems pretty redundant,
doesn't it?Copy !req
221. Messing up somebody
you've already killed?Copy !req
222. I think they came here
because they were afraid.Copy !req
223. Afraid?Copy !req
224. Afraid that the man
they hated enough to killCopy !req
225. wasn't really dead.Copy !req
226. Look.Copy !req
227. There goes your theoryCopy !req
228. of how Isaac Luria's
fingerprintsCopy !req
229. found their way
onto the victim's body.Copy !req
230. found their way
onto the victim's body.Copy !req
231. What does that
look like to you?Copy !req
232. Well, the body wasn't embalmed
as according to custom.Copy !req
233. Maybe it's post-mortem lividity
or some kind of tattooing.Copy !req
234. It's hard to tellCopy !req
235. in this stage of decomposition.Copy !req
236. What's this?Copy !req
237. Little bedtime reading?Copy !req
238. You owe me for two weeks.Copy !req
239. Where have you been?Copy !req
240. Is it true?Copy !req
241. You and your friends
killed the Jew?Copy !req
242. You and your friends
killed the Jew?Copy !req
243. Just give me my money.Copy !req
244. What the hell
were you thinking?Copy !req
245. I never told you to kill anyone.Copy !req
246. I never said to do that.Copy !req
247. No?Copy !req
248. What'd you expect me to do?Copy !req
249. Hide back here like you?Copy !req
250. Licking envelopes in the dark,
calling them names?Copy !req
251. We're working
to spread the truth.Copy !req
252. The truth?Copy !req
253. Man, you're as pathetic
as they are.Copy !req
254. I...Copy !req
255. I...Copy !req
256. I am exposing their lies.Copy !req
257. Man, those are just words.Copy !req
258. You think they killed
my friends with words?Copy !req
259. That's right.Copy !req
260. Clinton's dead, too.Copy !req
261. Now, I'd like my money.Copy !req
262. It's called
the Sepher Yetzirah—Copy !req
263. the Book of Creation.Copy !req
264. The earliest known Hebrew textCopy !req
265. on man's mystical communion
with the divine.Copy !req
266. Is it ever
buried with the dead?Copy !req
267. No. In observance
of the Jewish beliefCopy !req
268. that with death
comes equality,Copy !req
269. the corpse is buried
only in its shroud.Copy !req
270. No personal symbols of class
or worldly position are allowed.Copy !req
271. Has it ever been knownCopy !req
272. to spontaneously combust?Copy !req
273. Uh, no.Copy !req
274. No, it hasn't.Copy !req
275. It's a book on mysticism,
not mysticism itself.Copy !req
276. Is it printed on any special
paper or with any special ink?Copy !req
277. No. It's just a book—
leather and paper.Copy !req
278. No. It's just a book—
leather and paper.Copy !req
279. I suspect somebody might be
trying to play a trick on you.Copy !req
280. There is a
possibility that moistureCopy !req
281. may have leeched
into coffin,Copy !req
282. into the binding and
the pages of the book.Copy !req
283. If, uh, if the groundwaterCopy !req
284. was contaminated,Copy !req
285. arsenic or arsine gas
could have createdCopy !req
286. a combustible mixture.Copy !req
287. Is there anything
that distinguishesCopy !req
288. this particular Sepher Yetzirah
from other such books?Copy !req
289. Yes, but it's barely legible
because of the burning.Copy !req
290. It's a name
engraved in the leatherCopy !req
291. It's a name
engraved in the leatherCopy !req
292. or stamped into the leather.Copy !req
293. A name?Copy !req
294. Yes, a Hebrew name.Copy !req
295. Weiss.Copy !req
296. Jacob Weiss.Copy !req
297. Jacob Weiss.Copy !req
298. Why do you want to see him?Copy !req
299. There's been
another murder.Copy !req
300. Another suspect
in your husband's deathCopy !req
301. has been found dead
last night.Copy !req
302. Where was this?Copy !req
303. It was next to
your husband's grave.Copy !req
304. How does this concern my father?Copy !req
305. How does this concern my father?Copy !req
306. Yesterday, he expressedCopy !req
307. some strong feelingsCopy !req
308. towards this latest victim.Copy !req
309. He was angry.
They were just angry words.Copy !req
310. And we found evidence
placing himCopy !req
311. at the crime scene.Copy !req
312. This is escalating
into something else, Ariel.Copy !req
313. Something that has to stop.Copy !req
314. My marriage to Isaac...Copy !req
315. you have to
understand how muchCopy !req
316. it would have meant
to my father.Copy !req
317. it would have meant
to my father.Copy !req
318. What do you mean
"would have meant"?Copy !req
319. We got our marriage license
a few weeks ago,Copy !req
320. but the wedding
wasn't until today.Copy !req
321. I'm sorry.Copy !req
322. I'd like to show you something.Copy !req
323. It was a communal wedding ring
made in Kolin,Copy !req
324. a village near Prague.Copy !req
325. My father was an apprentice
to the man who designed it.Copy !req
326. My father was an apprentice
to the man who designed it.Copy !req
327. It's beautiful.Copy !req
328. Mm-hmm.Copy !req
329. Every woman who got married
in the synagogueCopy !req
330. wore this ring as a symbolCopy !req
331. that she was a queen,
her husband a king,Copy !req
332. and the home they made a castle,
not only on their wedding day,Copy !req
333. but for the rest
of their lives together.Copy !req
334. But most of those lives
ended in one dayCopy !req
335. in the spring of 1943.Copy !req
336. 9,000 Jews were massacred
after digging their own graves.Copy !req
337. But your father survived?Copy !req
338. But your father survived?Copy !req
339. Because he was ten years oldCopy !req
340. and he was
a jeweler's apprentice.Copy !req
341. He had small fingers
to make bulletsCopy !req
342. at a munitions factory.Copy !req
343. And through all this,
he hid the ring?Copy !req
344. Even after the war, he hid it.Copy !req
345. Even from my mother.Copy !req
346. Why?Copy !req
347. Because to him,Copy !req
348. it was a dead relic
from a forgotten place.Copy !req
349. Until the day that I told him
I was getting married.Copy !req
350. Until the day that I told him
I was getting married.Copy !req
351. And for the first time
in 50 years,Copy !req
352. he took out this ring.Copy !req
353. He saidCopy !req
354. he felt his village
was born again.Copy !req
355. He knew how much I loved Isaac.Copy !req
356. Ariel, tell us
where your father is.Copy !req
357. I know my father.Copy !req
358. He would never kill anyone.Copy !req
359. What if you're wrong?Copy !req
360. Do you see him?Copy !req
361. I'm sorry. We don't
mean any disrespect.Copy !req
362. Who are you?Copy !req
363. We're with the FBI.Copy !req
364. We're looking
for Jacob Weiss.Copy !req
365. Why?Copy !req
366. Excuse us.Copy !req
367. Mulder.Copy !req
368. Don't move!Copy !req
369. Federal agent!Copy !req
370. You okay, Mulder?Copy !req
371. Yeah.Copy !req
372. Put your hands
in the air where I can see them.Copy !req
373. Now turn around slowly.Copy !req
374. I got him, Scully.Copy !req
375. I got him, Scully.Copy !req
376. Mr. Weiss, we're placing you
under arrest.Copy !req
377. Come on.Copy !req
378. Let's go.Copy !req
379. Where is he?Copy !req
380. Where's my father?Copy !req
381. We've arrested
him, Ariel.Copy !req
382. Under suspicion
of murder.Copy !req
383. I don't believe you.Copy !req
384. It can't be him.Copy !req
385. Did he...Copy !req
386. did he tell you
he killed this person?Copy !req
387. I think that's the
direction it's going.Copy !req
388. Agent Mulder's in there
with him right now.Copy !req
389. I need to see him.Copy !req
390. Ariel, I suggest that
you get him an attorney.Copy !req
391. Ariel, I suggest that
you get him an attorney.Copy !req
392. He's refusing
legal representation.Copy !req
393. I need to see him.Copy !req
394. (sighs):
Okay.Copy !req
395. You can ask Detective
Bartley down the hall.Copy !req
396. He'll give you
a place to waitCopy !req
397. until your father's
been processed.Copy !req
398. Ariel...Copy !req
399. I'm sorry.Copy !req
400. Why'd you kill him, Jacob?Copy !req
401. Why'd you kill him, Jacob?Copy !req
402. Our synagogue
has been vandalizedCopy !req
403. 13 times in the last year.Copy !req
404. I heard a noise in the attic.Copy !req
405. I went up to see what it was,
and he attacked me.Copy !req
406. It was self-defense.Copy !req
407. Hanging a man in self-defense?Copy !req
408. Is it any worse
than what they did to Isaac?Copy !req
409. Is it any better?Copy !req
410. They found your book,Copy !req
411. your Sepher Yetzirah,
on Isaac Luria's grave.Copy !req
412. So?Copy !req
413. So that puts you
at a second crime scene.Copy !req
414. So that puts you
at a second crime scene.Copy !req
415. I'm guilty.
What more do you want from me?Copy !req
416. The truth.Copy !req
417. I have given you the truth.Copy !req
418. There was someone else in
that attic with you. Who was it?Copy !req
419. There was no one else.Copy !req
420. Then you're a liar.Copy !req
421. Then you know nothing
about nothing,Copy !req
422. and I have no more
to say about this.Copy !req
423. I would like to see my daughter.Copy !req
424. Want to see the background
check I ran on him?Copy !req
425. He emigrated to Israel
after World War TwoCopy !req
426. where he joined the Irgun,
the Jewish military underground.Copy !req
427. He was arrested in 1959
by the BritishCopy !req
428. for a bombing
that killed seven civilians.Copy !req
429. He was a terrorist, Mulder.Copy !req
430. A killer.Copy !req
431. He's not our killer though.Copy !req
432. He's not our killer though.Copy !req
433. What do you mean? I...
He just gave a confession.Copy !req
434. I stood here and listened to it.Copy !req
435. I think there
might have beenCopy !req
436. a second person in
that attic, Scully.Copy !req
437. Weiss knows it, too,Copy !req
438. and he's protecting
whoever it is.Copy !req
439. Well, who? His daughter?Copy !req
440. No, no. It was
somebody big enoughCopy !req
441. and strong enough
to knock me down.Copy !req
442. Well, who do you
think it was?Copy !req
443. You should stick around.
This could be interesting.Copy !req
444. Where are you going?Copy !req
445. To see a man
about a burning book.Copy !req
446. They say you confessed.Copy !req
447. Why are you doing this?Copy !req
448. To protect you.Copy !req
449. From what?Copy !req
450. I think you know.Copy !req
451. They found my book
in Isaac's grave.Copy !req
452. That can't be true.Copy !req
453. No?Copy !req
454. There's something
you didn't tell me.Copy !req
455. About the contents
of this Sepher Yetzirah.Copy !req
456. What is it you want to know?Copy !req
457. I want to know about
the myth of the golem.Copy !req
458. I told you, Mr. Mulder,
this is a mystical text.Copy !req
459. These pages are filled
with golems and dybbuksCopy !req
460. and demons
of every size and shape.Copy !req
461. It's the golem that
I'm interested in.Copy !req
462. And I'm interested inCopy !req
463. why an FBI agent would beCopy !req
464. so interested in such a thing.Copy !req
465. That's what I was hoping
you could tell me.Copy !req
466. The early cabalists—Copy !req
467. they believed
that a righteous manCopy !req
468. could actually create
a living beingCopy !req
469. from the earth itself,
fashioned from mud or clay,Copy !req
470. but this creature
could only be brought to lifeCopy !req
471. by the power of the word.Copy !req
472. In-in practical terms,Copy !req
473. In-in practical terms,Copy !req
474. by the direct applicationCopy !req
475. of certain
secret letter combinations.Copy !req
476. Combinations found in that book?Copy !req
477. Look.Copy !req
478. See... see, these pages.Copy !req
479. They're basically instructions
for animating the inanimate.Copy !req
480. You see, in this...Copy !req
481. Yeah, this passage hereCopy !req
482. talks about inscribing
a single wordCopy !req
483. on the golem itself.Copy !req
484. On the back of his hand?Copy !req
485. I'm impressed.Copy !req
486. I'm impressed.Copy !req
487. What is the magic word?Copy !req
488. "Emet."Copy !req
489. See?Copy !req
490. These three letters—Copy !req
491. "aleph, mem, tav"--Copy !req
492. creates the word "emet."Copy !req
493. I don't speak Hebrew.Copy !req
494. I don't know what that means.Copy !req
495. "Truth." Emet means "truth."Copy !req
496. But you see, Mr. Mulder,Copy !req
497. therein lies the paradox,Copy !req
498. because the danger
of the truthCopy !req
499. is contained in the word
"golem" itself.Copy !req
500. is contained in the word
"golem" itself.Copy !req
501. Which means
"matter without form,"Copy !req
502. "body without soul."Copy !req
503. So the golem is
an imperfect creation.Copy !req
504. Well, kind of a monster, really.Copy !req
505. Unable to speak
or feel anythingCopy !req
506. but the most
primitive emotions.Copy !req
507. In the legends, it runs amokCopy !req
508. and has to be destroyed
by its creator.Copy !req
509. Destroyed how?Copy !req
510. By erasing
the first letter aleph,Copy !req
511. "emet" becomes "met,"Copy !req
512. "emet" becomes "met,"Copy !req
513. which means "dead."Copy !req
514. Again, Mr. Mulder,
the power of letters,Copy !req
515. not just to create but to kill.Copy !req
516. Yeah.Copy !req
517. Mulder, it's me.Copy !req
518. There's been another homicide.Copy !req
519. Who?Copy !req
520. Curt Brunjes.Copy !req
521. I'm on my way to the print shop
right now.Copy !req
522. Okay, I can be there
in ten minutes.Copy !req
523. He was a man on a mission.Copy !req
524. Look at all the energy he spent
spreading his hatred.Copy !req
525. He certainly wasn't
toiling in obscurity.Copy !req
526. This mailing list has
hundreds of names,Copy !req
527. including our three
murder victims.Copy !req
528. Well, at least we know
Jacob Weiss didn't kill him.Copy !req
529. Yeah, I'll call the precinct
and have him released.Copy !req
530. Agent Scully?Copy !req
531. The image is fuzzy,
but I think we've got a hit.Copy !req
532. There.Copy !req
533. There.Copy !req
534. Oh, my God.Copy !req
535. It's Isaac Luria.Copy !req
536. He's still alive.Copy !req
537. I'm not so sure about that.Copy !req
538. No, thank you.
That won't be necessary.Copy !req
539. Well, the coroner matched
Luria's dental records.Copy !req
540. It was definitely his corpse
that was in that grave.Copy !req
541. You know, Mulder,
this-this videotape—Copy !req
542. it must have been
altered somehow,Copy !req
543. planted by whoever
is staging this hoax.Copy !req
544. It's not a hoax, Scully.
It never was.Copy !req
545. But if Luria
is dead, Mulder...Copy !req
546. But if Luria
is dead, Mulder...Copy !req
547. This is not Luria—
not really.Copy !req
548. Well, who do you
think it is?Copy !req
549. You think it's some kind
of a ghost?Copy !req
550. A ghost is spirit without form.Copy !req
551. But I believe
what we're looking forCopy !req
552. and what we're seeing here
is form without spirit—Copy !req
553. something called a golem.Copy !req
554. A golem?Copy !req
555. Yeah, it's, um, kind of
a manmade monsterCopy !req
556. described in
Jewish folklore.Copy !req
557. It's fashioned from mudCopy !req
558. and then animated through
mystical incantation.Copy !req
559. Mud?Copy !req
560. Mulder, what are
you talking about?Copy !req
561. And for what purpose?
Exacting revenge?Copy !req
562. And for what purpose?
Exacting revenge?Copy !req
563. I don't think it was hate that
created this golem, Scully.Copy !req
564. I think it was love.Copy !req
565. Ariel, it's Agent Mulder.Copy !req
566. Open the door.Copy !req
567. It's not locked.Copy !req
568. Ariel?Copy !req
569. She's not here, Scully.Copy !req
570. How do you know?Copy !req
571. Because it's her wedding day.Copy !req
572. Ariel?Copy !req
573. I know you're here.Copy !req
574. I know you can hear me.Copy !req
575. Ariel?Copy !req
576. Leave us alone, tata.Copy !req
577. You don't belong here.Copy !req
578. I'm your father.Copy !req
579. Please go.Copy !req
580. Not without you.Copy !req
581. I'm not leaving without you.Copy !req
582. I want to see him.Copy !req
583. He's dead.Copy !req
584. Isaac is dead.Copy !req
585. No.Copy !req
586. The boys that killed him—Copy !req
587. their hate took him from you.Copy !req
588. And you tried bringing him back
with your love.Copy !req
589. But what you brought back—Copy !req
590. you have to understand, Ariel—Copy !req
591. it isn't him.Copy !req
592. It's an abomination.Copy !req
593. It has no place
among the living.Copy !req
594. He said he'd call me back, tata.Copy !req
595. We were talking
on the phoneCopy !req
596. about the wedding.Copy !req
597. Isaac said he had to go,
that a customer needed him,Copy !req
598. Isaac said he had to go,
that a customer needed him,Copy !req
599. and that he would call me back.Copy !req
600. But when I heard
the phone ring later,Copy !req
601. something told me
not to pick it up.Copy !req
602. A woman's voice was on the line.Copy !req
603. I didn't hear
what she was saying.Copy !req
604. I didn't have to.Copy !req
605. I knew Isaac wasn't
calling me back.Copy !req
606. I just wanted
to say good-bye, tata.Copy !req
607. I just wanted
to say good-bye, tata.Copy !req
608. I know.Copy !req
609. I know.Copy !req
610. I didn't think.Copy !req
611. It was just a wish.Copy !req
612. They were just...Copy !req
613. They were just...Copy !req
614. words.Copy !req
615. Stay here.Copy !req
616. I want to go with you.Copy !req
617. No.
Tata...Copy !req
618. No.Copy !req
619. Wait. I got a knife.Copy !req
620. His pulse is thready.
Will he be all right?Copy !req
621. If we get him
to a hospital.Copy !req
622. Call the paramedics.
Where are you going?Copy !req
623. To find Ariel.Copy !req
624. Ariel?Copy !req
625. We found your father.Copy !req
626. He's alive.Copy !req
627. He's alive.Copy !req
628. He's going to be okay.Copy !req
629. I know about Isaac.Copy !req
630. Where is he?Copy !req
631. I don't know.Copy !req
632. Okay. All right, come on,
we got to get out of here.Copy !req
633. No.Copy !req
634. Come on, Ariel,
let's go.
No.Copy !req
635. We have to go.
No.Copy !req
636. Come on, Ariel.
Come on.Copy !req
637. Isaac?Copy !req
638. Stop, or I'll fire!
No! No!Copy !req
639. No!Copy !req
640. No!Copy !req
641. Stop!Copy !req
642. No!Copy !req
643. Stay down.Copy !req
644. No!Copy !req
645. Isaac!Copy !req
646. I am to my belovedCopy !req
647. as my beloved is to me.Copy !req
648. I loved you.Copy !req
649. Mulder.Copy !req
650. Are you okay?Copy !req
651. I think so.Copy !req
652. I think so.Copy !req
653. I heard shots fired.Copy !req
654. What happened?Copy !req
655. What is she doing?Copy !req
656. Saying good-bye.Copy !req
657. I made this!Copy !req
