The X-Files 2x17

1. It's going to crash.

2. Are you saying these men are clones?

3. Unless you protect us, we are already dead.

4. Who's Mom talking to?

5. Your sister.

6. I'm in danger, Fox.

7. Scully.

8. Scully, it's me. Where are you?

9. Scully? Are you there?

10. Scully?

11. Scully?

12. Sir.

13. Captain.

14. What have you got?

15. I'm not quite sure, sir.

16. We picked up some paint approximately two minutes ago.

17. We picked up some paint approximately two minutes ago.

18. Looks like the damn thing's just hanging there.

19. Yes, sir. It's approximately 200 meters below the ice.

20. Looks to be about 80 meters across, and it's noisy.

21. Noisy? How?

22. It's emitting radio signals across the spectrum,

23. but it's just random noise, sir.

24. We can't detect any pattern.

25. Get me Pacific Command on the satellite uplink.

26. Yes, sir.

27. Yes, Admiral.

28. I don't know what we found,

29. but it appears to be some kind of craft.

30. Yes, sir, that's correct.

31. Yes, sir, that's correct.

32. But we're on a cartography mission, Admiral.

33. My crew isn't prepared to...

34. Yes, sir.

35. Understood, sir.

36. Set a course heading 0-4-7.

37. Toward the object, sir?

38. Weapons room.

39. Aye, sir. Lock torpedoes on target.

40. Prepare to fire on command. Captain, shouldn't we at least

41. attempt to identify this object first?

42. attempt to identify this object first?

43. We have our orders, Lieutenant. But, sir...

44. Everything's down! Lost everything.

45. Reactor's gone down.

46. Engine room.

47. That won't work, Captain.

48. We've only got battery power.

49. I'm going down there.

50. Prepare to surface at once.

51. Surface into what?

52. Surface into what?

53. We're under 32 feet of glacial ice.

54. Scully? Are you there?

55. Scully?

56. What's going on?

57. No, sorry.

58. Who was that?

59. It's a wrong number.

60. (clears throat) Where have you been, Mulder?

61. I've been trying to get ahold of you.

62. I was trying to reach you.

63. I went by your house, but you weren't there.

64. I got here as quickly as I could.

65. I got here as quickly as I could.

66. Why didn't you call when you got my message?

67. I-I did call.

68. I couldn't get through.

69. Put your hands against the wall.

70. Scully, what are you doing?

71. I said put your hands

72. against the wall!

73. What's wrong?

74. Do it!

75. Scully, it's me.

76. I don't know who you are.

77. Okay, I'm going to take my left hand

78. and reach into my pocket and get my I.D., okay?

79. Just don't shoot me.

80. I got shot once, I didn't much care for it.

81. I said keep your hands up.

82. Where is he?

83. That was him on the phone, wasn't it?

84. Tell me where he is.

85. I don't know what you're talking about.

86. Scully?

87. He's been here.

88. Your partner is alive.

89. How do you know?

90. He took her to get me.

91. There's no sign of a break-in.

92. She wouldn't have just let him in.

93. She might not have known who he was.

94. She might not have known who he was.

95. She might have thought it was you.

96. He's going to contact you.

97. He's going to say he wants to make a trade—

98. your partner's life for mine.

99. Why? Why does he want to kill you?

100. Because I know how to kill him. How?

101. By piercing the base of his skull.

102. That would kill anybody.

103. Yes, but this is the only way to kill him,

104. and it must be precise.

105. I'm fairly sure it'll work.

106. Fairly sure?

107. He's got powers I've never seen before.

108. If it doesn't work, there's a chance you could die.

109. From what?

110. Their blood is toxic.

111. Their blood is toxic.

112. Human exposure to it is fatal.

113. I know this must seem incredible to you...

114. No, no, no, no, no. That's just it.

115. It doesn't seem incredible at all.

116. Now, how do we find him?

117. We don't.

118. He'll find us.

119. He'll call.

120. You're sure?

121. I know what he wants.

122. And if he doesn't get it?

123. I know this is hard for you, Fox...

124. No, it's not hard. It's unbelievable.

125. No, it's not hard. It's unbelievable.

126. You don't believe me.

127. After 22 years, why come back?

128. I've explained to you.

129. No, no, you've explained only what you had to.

130. I know next to nothing about

131. these people you call your parents

132. or about the man who wants to kill them.

133. The men you've been seeking

134. are the progeny of two original visitors—

135. clones who have been attempting

136. to establish a colony here since the late 1940s.

137. A colony?

138. Loosely. The community by necessity is dispersed.

139. There are clones identical to my parents

140. There are clones identical to my parents

141. living in virtually every part of the country.

142. What are they trying to accomplish?

143. It's their belief

144. that our stewardship of the planet is being forsaken,

145. and that by default

146. they'll someday become the natural heirs.

147. And in the meantime?

148. Through hybridization,

149. they've been working to erase that aspect

150. which has forced the community to scatter—

151. their identical natures.

152. All the clones worked in abortion clinics. Why?

153. Access to fetal tissue.

154. Though the biologies are incompatible,

155. Though the biologies are incompatible,

156. they finally found a way

157. to combine human DNA with alien DNA.

158. And this man—

159. why has he been sent to kill them?

160. The experiments weren't sanctioned.

161. It was considered a dilution of their species,

162. a pollution of their race.

163. So a bounty hunter was dispatched

164. to destroy them and terminate the colony.

165. That's a good story,

166. but I've heard a lot of good stories lately.

167. I've got no reason to lie to you.

168. I've got no reason to lie to you.

169. I'm your sister, Fox. You have to trust me.

170. Who is it?

171. Who is it?

172. Skinner.

173. Mulder?

174. Door's open.

175. Make yourself at home.

176. What's going on here, Agent Mulder?

177. Why are the lights out?

178. Orders from my ophthalmologist.

179. You all right?

180. Yeah, I'm fine.

181. I've been trying to reach you and Agent Scully.

182. I haven't checked my messages.

183. Are you aware

184. that Agent Scully incarcerated four men

185. with the Federal Marshal's office

186. with the Federal Marshal's office

187. and those men are now missing?

188. It's all right. It's not him.

189. What the hell is going on here, Mulder?

190. This is my sister, Samantha Mulder.

191. What?

192. I haven't had time to explain.

193. Agent Scully is missing.

194. What do you mean, missing?

195. Hello.

196. Mulder, it's me.

197. Scully, where are you?

198. I don't know.

199. I'm in a telephone booth.

200. He's got my gun, Mulder.

201. He says he's going to kill me

202. He says he's going to kill me

203. if you don't give him what he wants.

204. What does he want?

205. A woman who's with you.

206. He says you'll know what I'm talking about.

207. All right, tell him we'll negotiate.

208. He doesn't want to negotiate.

209. He says he wants to make a trade.

210. All right, let me speak to him.

211. He wants you to be at Memorial Bridge

212. in Bethesda in one hour.

213. Scully, I need time. I need more time than that.

214. Mulder...

215. Where is she?

216. What's this about a negotiation?

217. What's this about a negotiation?

218. We don't... we don't have any time.

219. If I ever needed your help, your trust,

220. I need it now.

221. Mulder's in position.

222. We just need to get him out of the car.

223. Make him think we're going to make a trade.

224. We just need one shot. To the base of the neck.

225. These guys can hollow out a dime at 200 yards.

226. And, Samantha,

227. do not take any unnecessary risks out there.

228. Scully?

229. Bring her out.

230. Take your shot when you got it.

231. Step close.

232. Right up close.

233. Right up close.

234. Scully, you all right?

235. Yeah.

236. Yeah? I'm okay.

237. Samantha!

238. I lost the shot.

239. There's no way out.

240. We got both sides of the bridge covered.

241. Now, let her go.

242. Tell me where she is.

243. Let her go!

244. Samantha!

245. Samantha!

246. Spread it out.

247. Clear.

248. Mulder.

249. You should be in the hospital, Scully.

250. I was discharged an hour ago, and I asked to come here.

251. Have they found anything yet?

252. Nothing yet.

253. You think she could have survived?

254. Maybe.

255. Maybe.

256. But the water's 36 degrees.

257. Maybe she went into hypothermic shock.

258. I've heard about people that have lived

259. after being stranded in water like this

260. eight to ten hours.

261. Mulder, why didn't you tell me on the phone

262. that it was her?

263. I couldn't tell you.

264. Why not?

265. 'Cause you'd never let me go through with it.

266. Are you sure that it's your sister?

267. Why would you even question me on that?

268. Because back at the motel, Mulder, it was you,

269. but-but it wasn't you. Well, it was her.

270. but-but it wasn't you. Well, it was her.

271. Well, then who is this man and where is he...?

272. He's an alien.

273. Is that what you're going to tell Skinner?

274. I already told Skinner.

275. That was the easy part.

276. Now I got to tell my father.

277. You didn't have me come all this way

278. to give me good news.

279. What is it, Fox?

280. Samantha's gone, Dad.

281. I lost her.

282. What do you mean you lost her?

283. There was a man...

284. he was holding my partner hostage

285. he was holding my partner hostage

286. in exchange for Samantha.

287. You let this man take your sister?

288. Isn't that what you're trying to tell me?

289. I-I can't explain it to you, but, um...

290. I believed I was doing the right thing, Dad.

291. Was this your decision?

292. Yes.

293. Yes.

294. I'll tell Mom.

295. Do you realize what losing her again

296. is going to do to your mother?

297. Do you?

298. I'm sorry, Dad.

299. I'm sorry, Dad.

300. I'm sorry.

301. I'm...

302. I'm sorry.

303. Your sis...

304. Samantha left this at the house for you.

305. Mulder.

306. Mulder, it's me.

307. Scully, she left a path in case we got separated.

308. I think she's alive.

309. Mulder, I think you should come back as soon as you can.

310. Why?

311. What'd you find?

312. It's your sister.

313. We just pulled her body out of the river.

314. Mulder, I'm so sorry.

315. Mulder, I'm so sorry.

316. Are you sure?

317. Yeah.

318. You know...

319. whatever you're feeling, you can't blame yourself.

320. What about a second body?

321. Did you find a second body?

322. No, not yet.

323. I'll be there as soon as I can.

324. Agent Scully, something you need to see.

325. Agent Scully, something you need to see.

326. What is it?

327. It's the body we pulled from the water.

328. Something strange is happening.

329. Federal agent.

330. Keep your hands where I can see them and turn around...

331. slowly.

332. Who are you?

333. She's dead, isn't she?

334. What the hell is going on?

335. Come, please.

336. There's not much time.

337. Who are you?

338. Please.

339. It was all a lie.

340. It was all a lie.

341. We needed your help.

342. We knew you could be manipulated.

343. He'll be coming.

344. We must hurry now.

345. Who?

346. The man who's been sent to kill us.

347. He's dead.

348. How do you know?

349. He was shot, in the back of the neck.

350. How did he die?

351. He fell off a bridge.

352. With one of you.

353. Then we don't know for sure.

354. You could have been followed.

355. You could have been followed.

356. Come with me.

357. This way, Agent Mulder.

358. The rest of us are dispensable.

359. She was the first.

360. The one from which we all came.

361. The one you must save.

362. I'm not your savior.

363. You must help us.

364. You have no choice.

365. No, I...

366. I do have a choice.

367. And my choice is to walk out of here.

368. We know where your sister is.

369. Ask yourself, Agent Mulder:

370. how else would we know so much about her?

371. He's here.

372. I found one!

373. Sir, we're going to get you out of here.

374. What about the others?

375. We got real lucky.

376. There are no others.

377. No, wait.

378. There were women in here.

379. Relax! You're the only one here.

380. No! You've got to keep looking.

381. No! You've got to keep looking.

382. After being treated for smoke inhalation,

383. Agent Mulder was released from Samaritan Hospital

384. in satisfactory condition.

385. At his request, the abortion clinic

386. where he was found has been searched repeatedly,

387. but the bodies of the women he insists perished there

388. were not found.

389. My report on this case remains incomplete.

390. Many aspects continue to defy explanation,

391. including the identities of the identical men and women.

392. including the identities of the identical men and women.

393. Agent Mulder's claim of alien origins

394. cannot be substantiated.

395. The man suspected in their disappearances

396. is still at large and has now been charged

397. with the death of FBI Special Agent Barrett Weiss,

398. whose body has been quarantined

399. at the U.S. Medical Research Institute

400. of Infectious Diseases.

401. Weiss's cause of death involved a thickening of the blood.

402. It is now believed that he was subjected

403. to a virulent strain of virus

404. whose origin and behavior are also unexplainable.

405. It is my hope that further analysis

406. It is my hope that further analysis

407. of this contagion will aid in the solution of this case.

408. This is a retrovirus?

409. Yes, but none of us here have ever seen anything like it.

410. Do you recognize it?

411. Was the thickening of Agent Weiss's blood

412. an immunological response to the virus?

413. Apparently.

414. When the body's exposed to it, it triggers

415. a massive production of red blood cells.

416. Now, take a look at this.

417. We took a second culture and were able to control its growth.

418. What did you do to it?

419. All we did was lower the temperature

420. All we did was lower the temperature

421. by five degrees Fahrenheit.

422. So the virus is inhibited by cold.

423. Knocked out by it.

424. For some reason, this retrovirus

425. goes dormant at cold temperatures.

426. We pulled a body from the river yesterday

427. that was chilled near freezing.

428. When it started to thaw, it began to corrode.

429. Corrode?

430. If you find out anything else,

431. you let me know as soon as possible.

432. You wanted to see me?

433. How was the opera?

434. Wonderful.

435. I've never slept better.

436. I don't like these hasty public meetings, Agent Mulder.

437. I'm sorry.

438. I need your help.

439. It's over. The fat lady is singing.

440. I need to know what you know.

441. Okay, they're all dead.

442. No. One of them is alive—

443. the one who was sent to kill them.

444. the one who was sent to kill them.

445. Where is he?

446. A nuclear submarine located his craft

447. in the Beaufort Sea five days ago.

448. They were ordered to destroy it, but they were disabled.

449. An attack fleet left port

450. from Anchorage this morning

451. to make sure this man does not leave.

452. I got to get up there.

453. You'll only win the war

454. if you pick the right battles, Agent Mulder.

455. This is a battle you can't win.

456. Mulder, it's me.

457. Are you there?

458. Scully, when you get this message,

459. I'll be too far away for you to stop me,

460. but where I'm going, I can't allow you to follow.

461. I won't let you jeopardize your life and your career

462. for reasons purely personal to me.

463. You were right, Scully.

464. You were right, Scully.

465. You said a line has to be drawn somewhere.

466. And I'm drawing it for you here.

467. I'll contact you when I can.

468. Sir?

469. I'm sorry to come unannounced, sir,

470. but your assistant wasn't at her desk.

471. What is it, Scully?

472. May we speak off the record, sir?

473. About?

474. Agent Mulder.

475. Agent Mulder.

476. He's gone.

477. Where?

478. I don't know; I was hoping that

479. you could tell me or help me to find out.

480. When I spoke to Agent Mulder day before yesterday,

481. he said he was going to take some time off

482. after what he'd been through.

483. He told me the same thing,

484. but I don't think this matter with his sister is settled.

485. Sir, is there any way that you can reach him

486. through unofficial channels?

487. through unofficial channels?

488. I can't help you, Scully.

489. Please?

490. Agent Scully, you and I both

491. have a greater responsibility to consider,

492. and that is to the FBI.

493. Agent Mulder's actions in this case are in violation

494. of his duties, his oath of trust and Bureau protocol.

495. He's risked my position, your life...

496. Agent Mulder has saved my life!

497. If he wanted or expected you to do the same,

498. he would have told you where he was going.

499. Please close the door on your way out, Agent Scully.

500. Where is Mulder?

501. Sorry.

502. I must have the wrong apartment.

503. Where's Mulder?

504. I need to know, damn it!

505. I'm sorry, you've mistaken me for someone else.

506. I'm losing time!

507. I'm sorry.

508. I can't help you.

509. Excuse me.

510. Did you tell her what she needed to know?

511. How hard do you want to make this?

512. No harder than it has to be.

513. No harder than it has to be.

514. I've killed men for far less.

515. You pull that trigger, you'll be killing two men.

516. Now, I want to know where Mulder is.

517. Agent Mulder took a commercial flight to Tacoma, Washington.

518. From there, he caught a military plane

519. to Deadhorse, Alaska.

520. He used his FBI credentials

521. to charter a Rolligon all-terrain vehicle.

522. Still a ten-mile hike across the ice.

523. Here's the coordinates of his final destination.

524. How did you get this?

525. Unofficial channels.

526. Unofficial channels.

527. Hey!

528. Hey!

529. Stop!

530. Who are you?

531. Lieutenant Terry Wilmer.

532. Step out of there!

533. Come out!

534. What happened here?

535. I don't know.

536. We, uh...

537. we just lost power.

538. We... we...

539. we drifted under the ice for days.

540. Then, uh...

541. then we hit, uh...

542. Don't look at me! Face forward!

543. We hit a shallow patch and punched through, okay?

544. We hit a shallow patch and punched through, okay?

545. That's what happened.

546. So why did you run?

547. A man came.

548. He, uh...

549. he sealed most of the men below decks without any air,

550. and, uh...

551. and then he started to execute the rest of us.

552. (sobbing): Every...

553. They're all dead.

554. I, uh... I thought you were him.

555. I didn't know if you were him.

556. How is it you managed to survive?

557. How is it you managed to survive?

558. I hid under the body

559. of the chief petty officer, okay?

560. I, uh...

561. I played dead.

562. What's this for?

563. What, are you crazy?

564. No, I'm just tired.

565. And you're not getting back to your ship until I get the truth.

566. Now tell me where my sister is.

567. I don't know what you're talking about...

568. Base of the neck!

569. Base of the neck!

570. Now, you tell me how I can find her,

571. and I'll let you get back to your ship before it's destroyed!

572. Please... please.

573. You're making a really big mistake.

574. If I wanted to, I could have killed you many times before.

575. Where is she?

576. Is the answer to your question worth dying for?
