The X-Files 2x10

1. 7:30.

2. See you tomorrow, Beth.

3. Okay.

4. See you tomorrow.

5. get some information about

6. a crack house.

7. This is some pretty direct information.

8. Came from an informant who made a buy, and...

9. Came from an informant who made a buy, and...

10. I'm home.

11. Hi.

12. Hi, Mom.

13. Hey.

14. Hey?

15. All I get is "hey"?

16. Hey, Mom.

17. I'm going to take a quick shower.

18. I'm going to take a quick shower.

19. You guys interested in getting a pizza delivered?

20. If that was a "yes," you can call the order in.

21. And no pepperoni for me.

22. Hello?

23. Oh, yeah.

24. Sure.

25. Ow!

26. Tell Mom I'll be back in five minutes, okay, butt-crumb?

27. He said he was only going to be gone five minutes,

28. and that was over four hours ago.

29. Yes.

30. No, I don't know who called him.

31. The last person to see him?

32. His younger brother.

33. Whoa, whoa, whoa! Hmm?

34. Gary?

35. Gary Kane?

36. Go get him a blanket.

37. It's going to be okay, son.

38. Hey, we're here to help you.

39. Hey, what's wrong?

40. Oh, my God.

41. Gary Kane, 16 years old, high school junior.

42. "C" student, first-string varsity football,

43. member of the local 4-H club.

44. Not one of Wisconsin's more remarkable kids,

45. but still the apple of his mother's eye.

46. What does that mean?

47. Nobody knows.

48. What does the police report say?

49. The victim received a phone call and left his home.

50. He was discovered in the woods in his underwear 12 hours later.

51. He's been unable to give a coherent statement.

52. He's been unable to give a coherent statement.

53. Any evidence of sexual assault? No.

54. Does it seem like it might have been a schoolboy prank?

55. The other victims have had to be sedated

56. and hospitalized since their ordeals.

57. They're reportedly

58. hysterical with fear.

59. "Victims"? You mean there have been others?

60. One in Eastern Wisconsin.

61. One three towns away.

62. Both with the same words written in black magic marker.

63. What's your interest in this?

64. The local sheriff in Delta Glen, Wisconsin,

65. thinks he knows what's been happening to these kids.

66. What's that?

67. What's that?

68. He thinks they've been possessed.

69. There's something I think you ought to see first.

70. They call themselves the Church of the Red Museum.

71. They're followers of a guy named Odin

72. that moved out here from California three years ago

73. and bought a ranch.

74. What's the significance of the name Red Museum?

75. Well, Odin and the rest of them are a bunch of vegetarians.

76. They drove the ranch

77. right into the ground.

78. Turned 500 head of beef cattle into pets.

79. Calls it a monument to barbarism.

80. Probably went over big with the local ranchers.

81. (laughs) Well, you got to admit,

82. (laughs) Well, you got to admit,

83. it takes some big ones to set down

84. in the middle of cow country and start a church like his.

85. Kind of stick out like a sore thumb, don't they?

86. You know, Sheriff, from what little we've seen,

87. what you've told us, they seem rather unlikely to be involved

88. in the kind of activities that you described.

89. Well, I-I won't say another word.

90. You can just see for yourself.

91. That's Odin.

92. Today is a blessing from our lord and master

93. who awaits his flock in this time,

94. the dawning of the age of Aquarius,

95. 18 Earth years from the beginning

96. of the new kingdom.

97. The guides speak through me today

98. as messengers of the word

99. as messengers of the word

100. that we may be free from death and the passage into spirit.

101. As the acceleration continues,

102. we, the enlightened, must bring the teachings

103. of the skills for survival to mankind.

104. (quietly): They're Walk-ins.

105. What are Walk-ins?

106. We, the second souls of the first bodies...

107. We the second souls of the first bodies...

108. Bearers of the word and keepers of the sacraments

109. of a new enlightenment...

110. of a new enlightenment...

111. Believers in soul transference—

112. enlightened spirits who have

113. taken possession of other people's bodies.

114. Blessed mission and toil...

115. Blessed mission and toil...

116. Our struggle is transcendent,

117. and your guidance, our guides...

118. Our struggle is transcendent,

119. and your guidance, our guides...

120. Will carry us toward the dawning of a new age.

121. Will carry us toward the dawning of a new age.

122. Today we bear witness to three who do not believe.

123. We encourage them to open their hearts

124. and minds to our teachings, that they who slaughter

125. the flesh, slaughter their own souls,

126. and must be taught the way.

127. I only remember parts of it.

128. Which parts are those?

129. Which parts are those?

130. I was in the woods, and...

131. I felt... a spirit enter me.

132. When you say "spirit," Gary,

133. I'm not sure what you mean.

134. It...

135. It might have been an animal spirit.

136. I can't explain it.

137. Something...

138. Something...

139. just came over me.

140. And you don't remember who called you?

141. Anything at all about what happened

142. immediately after you left home that night?

143. Have you ever had any dealings

144. with anyone from the Church of the Red Museum?

145. I see them around.

146. Do you have any reason to believe

147. that they may be involved with what happened to you?

148. Now, tell him what you told me, Gary.

149. Hi.

150. Hi.

151. Who are you?

152. Stevie.

153. Oh, you're in all the pictures.

154. You must be Gary's younger brother.

155. I'm Dana.

156. Stevie, do you remember who your brother

157. might have gone out to see the other night?

158. Did he say anything?

159. Scully, we'll meet you outside.

160. Scully, we'll meet you outside.

161. Has this boy ever been in any trouble?

162. Gary? Yeah.

163. No, I've known him since he was a kid.

164. He's the same age as my son.

165. He's done some beer drinking,

166. but he's just your basic 16-year-old.

167. At least he was.

168. You see a noticeable difference in him?

169. Yeah, yeah.

170. Gary Kane lived for football.

171. He's a damn good athlete, too.

172. Now he won't even suit up.

173. The Red Museum— how are they treated by the local citizens?

174. The Red Museum— how are they treated by the local citizens?

175. Nobody much cares for them.

176. But are they ever singled out—

177. shop owners refusing to sell to them, stuff like that?

178. Well, there's a reasonable amount of tension,

179. but most folks are happy to just try to avoid them.

180. Uh, can you recommend a good motel in the area?

181. Sure. That means you're going to stay on for a bit.

182. You think there might be something to this?

183. Well, I want to run a background check

184. on the church and this guy Odin.

185. If you could just show us a good motel,

186. maybe point out a good place to eat?

187. You come to the right place for that.

188. You know, Mulder, ribs like these—

189. I'd say the Church of the Red Museum

190. has its work cut out for it.

191. Yeah.

192. Thanks.

193. So, you started to tell me about Walk-ins,

194. but I'm not sure if I grasped the finer points.

195. Uh, it's kind of a new age religion based on an old idea:

196. that if you, uh, lose hope or despair,

197. and want to leave this mortal coil, you become open

198. and want to leave this mortal coil, you become open

199. and vulnerable.

200. To inhabitation by a new spirit.

201. A new enlightened spirit.

202. According to the literature, Abe Lincoln was a Walk-in

203. and Mikhail Gorbachev

204. and Charles Colson, Nixon's advisor.

205. But not Nixon?

206. No. Not even they want to claim Nixon.

207. So are you still subscribing to the sheriff's claims

208. of a possession?

209. I don't know.

210. In the absence of any other plausible explanation,

211. it's a novel theory.

212. Well, I'll tell you something—

213. Well, I'll tell you something—

214. I feel kind of weird saying this,

215. but I got the creeps in that apartment tonight.

216. Really?

217. Hey, you tofu-eating towel head!

218. (car horn honks) Yeah, why? What's going on?

219. Hey! Hey, veggie burger, who let you out?

220. I think the Spur Posse just rode into town.

221. Hey, diaper head, we're talking to you, man.

222. How's your pet cow?

223. Did you get any milk out of him?

224. We're talking to you, Aladdin.

225. What's the matter, diaper head?

226. Huh? Huh?

227. Nothing.

228. Hey, leave him alone.

229. Hey, leave him alone.

230. Leave him alone.

231. Go home.

232. Go ahead. Go home.

233. Catch you later, Red.

234. You got a problem?

235. Yeah, but who asked you?

236. I see four against one,

237. I got a problem. Mulder?

238. Yeah, well, why don't you run along

239. with the little wife.

240. You're gonna miss the tour bus.

241. She's got a gun.

242. Well, what's she going to do, shoot us?

243. Go call my dad, Katie.

244. Go call my dad, Katie.

245. I think he'd like to hear about this.

246. Who's your dad?

247. He's the sheriff.

248. Yeah, I think he would like to hear about this.

249. Come on, let's just get out of here, Rick.

250. Kind of hard to tell the villains

251. without a scorecard.

252. Pupperdog?

253. Is that you?

254. Pupperdog?

255. What are you doing here, huh, girl?

256. Get off me! Get off me!

257. Help me!

258. Please, somebody help me!

259. Help me! Please!

260. Yeah, Danny, this is all good stuff. Yeah.

261. See what else you can find on him

262. from the NCIC and call me back. (door opens)

263. At this number or on my cellular.

264. I just examined the girl.

265. What'd you find?

266. Not much until the toxicology report came back.

267. They found trace amounts

268. of an unspecified alkaloid substance in her blood—

269. possibly an opiate derivative—

270. as well as a dangerously large quantity

271. of something called scopolamine.

272. Is that the stuff they use for motion sickness?

273. Well, only in very small dosages.

274. Well, only in very small dosages.

275. Anything past 0.2 micrograms and you've got a powerful anesthetic

276. with hallucinogenic qualities.

277. It's been in the news lately because Colombian gangs

278. have been using it in kidnappings

279. to subdue their victims.

280. Is it a controlled substance?

281. Yes. You'd probably have to be a doctor

282. or a pharmacist to get ahold of these quantities.

283. "Richard Odin, also known as Doug Herman,

284. "left AMA in 1986 over questionable ethics inquiry.

285. Did not renew license."

286. I'll drive.

287. I'm Special Agent Fox Mulder.

288. We're with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

289. We'd like to speak to Richard Odin.

290. Is he in?

291. Just a moment.

292. Mr. Odin?

293. Yes.

294. We'd like to ask you some questions. May we come inside?

295. I'm sorry.

296. I can't allow you in this house.

297. We can get a warrant if that's what it takes.

298. We can get a warrant if that's what it takes.

299. You can get a warrant if you'd like,

300. but you will not enter this building.

301. Well, how's that?

302. Because you're meat eaters.

303. The building that houses our kitchens

304. cannot be desecrated by your presence.

305. I believe I'm well within my religious rights to prevent it.

306. Yes, sir, but you can't hide behind your rights

307. if a crime has been committed.

308. Have I been accused of a crime?

309. We can always determine that elsewhere.

310. We can always determine that elsewhere.

311. Can you step outside, please, sir?

312. Can you step outside, Mr. Odin?

313. We're placing you under arrest.

314. Are you familiar with a substance

315. called scopolamine, Mr. Odin?

316. Are you familiar with bovine growth hormones

317. and inhumane treatment of beef and dairy cows...

318. Just answer the question, Mr. Odin.

319. Yes, I know it.

320. But I've never prescribed it or administered it.

321. But I've never prescribed it or administered it.

322. Have you ever ordered others to do so?

323. No.

324. Do your religious beliefs preclude you

325. from exacting revenge, either physically or psychically

326. on those who might not share them?

327. The barbarians will one day be cleansed from the earth.

328. Answer the question! You did it, didn't you?

329. You did something to those kids!

330. Sheriff.

331. I've already had to go through this once with your kid.

332. Can you just take a walk?

333. You know, for a holy man,

334. You know, for a holy man,

335. you've got quite a knack for pissing people off.

336. We got problems down the street.

337. Keep your minds open to the wisdom of the guides.

338. We don't care about the wisdom of the guides!

339. All we ask is that you listen,

340. question what we say and consider it seriously.

341. You have the power to change your whole lives

342. before it is too late.

343. End the slaughter.

344. The rights of the just

345. must be protected,

346. just as the barbarism must cease.

347. just as the barbarism must cease.

348. Violence against nature begets

349. violence against man.

350. How about a little cow blood!

351. What do you think you're doing?

352. Get out of here! Get going! Get!

353. Get in the truck!

354. You the FBI agents?

355. Yes.

356. There's something I'd like to show you.

357. This pastureland

358. belonged to my granddad.

359. He bought it in 1890.

360. Yeah, he died right over there next to that cattle pen—

361. Yeah, he died right over there next to that cattle pen—

362. 82 years old.

363. Just fell off the tractor one morning.

364. Hmm.

365. Then my dad worked this piece for the next 40 years.

366. I put in 25 myself

367. before I decided to call it quits.

368. Sold it for

369. 80 times what my granddad paid.

370. Why'd you sell it?

371. Ah, business changed.

372. People changed, too.

373. In what way?

374. In what way?

375. Competition.

376. Used to get by with 50 milk cows.

377. Now you got to have 500.

378. Used to turn them out to pasture.

379. Now you keep them in pens and grain feed them.

380. You said you wanted to show us something.

381. You're looking at it.

382. See those men over there?

383. Well, they're injecting the cattle

384. with something called BST.

385. Bovine somatotropin.

386. A genetically-engineered growth hormone.

387. A genetically-engineered growth hormone.

388. Yeah, shoot 'em up and the cow will produce

389. ten percent more milk.

390. Feed it to beef cattle— more meat on the hoof.

391. Changed the business.

392. Changed a whole lot of things.

393. How do you mean?

394. Well, now, that, uh...

395. fracas in town this afternoon.

396. Ten, even five years ago,

397. never would have happened.

398. People around here have changed,

399. you know, they've gotten mean,

400. you know, they've gotten mean,

401. spiteful, dog-eat-dog.

402. We had seven rapes here last year

403. by high school boys.

404. Well, that, um...

405. this-this business of the, uh, kids being found in the woods—

406. well, I think

407. that you're going to find

408. it all comes from the same root source.

409. The growth hormone.

410. Yes, sir.

411. But those hormones have been proven safe.

412. They've been cleared by the FDA.

413. They've been cleared by the FDA.

414. Says who?

415. The government?

416. I don't know, Doc.

417. I'm losing oil pressure like crazy.

418. I don't know what's going on.

419. How far are we from the airport? We're not gonna make it.

420. I'm gonna have to find some place to put it down.

421. Look out!

422. Still trying to I.D. the pilot.

423. What about the second body?

424. That's Dr. Jerrold Larson.

425. Did you know him?

426. Yeah.

427. Yeah.

428. He delivered my kid.

429. Something else over here I want you to see.

430. Thank you.

431. Looks like the doctor

432. may have been delivering more than babies.

433. That's why I brought you ought here.

434. Any clue what this is about?

435. I have no idea.

436. Jerry Larson was a pillar in this community;

437. he was the last of the country doctors.

438. Well, wherever he was coming from,

439. I'd say that was one hell of a house call.

440. You don't think this has anything to do

441. with what happened to those kids?

442. I think we'll know more once we find out what this is.

443. You're sure?

444. Both kids?

445. No, that's okay.

446. I'm sure you're correct.

447. Thank you very much.

448. Thank you very much.

449. Scully? You're not going to believe this.

450. You found a connection between the out-of-town kids

451. and the kids abducted here.

452. Every one of them was delivered

453. and treated through childhood by Dr. Larson.

454. Yeah, the printouts we found in the briefcase

455. were mostly shipping orders,

456. along with a list of credit card numbers—

457. each number corresponding to a card in the victim's family.

458. Why would he carry a list of credit card numbers?

459. I don't know, maybe to track them the way

460. credit card companies track stolen cards?

461. But why?

462. And what was he treating them for?

463. What was he treating them with?

464. What was he treating them with?

465. I don't know.

466. We won't get the test results back on the vial until tomorrow.

467. Are you thinking it might be bovine growth hormone?

468. I know that was the first thing through

469. both of our minds, Scully, but it just doesn't track—

470. not with that briefcase full of cash.

471. I know, and it still doesn't answer the question

472. about who's marking those kids.

473. Or why.

474. Go on. Away we go.

475. So, I'll see you in the morning.

476. Yeah. 8:30 sharp.

477. Howdy.

478. Hi.

479. Sorry to come unannounced.

480. Gary's not home right now.

481. Actually, we wanted to talk with you, if that's okay.

482. I don't know what to say.

483. You think Dr. Larson was doing some kind of tests on Gary?

484. Well, thinking back,

485. was there anything that seemed strange to you?

486. Was Gary sick often?

487. Was Gary sick often?

488. No. Actually, Gary's never been sick a day in his life.

489. Gary was never sick?

490. No.

491. Why was he going to Dr. Larson?

492. Dr. Larson gave him vitamin shots.

493. He gave them to a lot of kids.

494. He said it was like treating their teeth with fluoride—

495. as a preventive measure.

496. Did you ever take Gary to another doctor?

497. No. Jay had wanted to.

498. Jay's your husband?

499. Yes.

500. He was concerned Gary wasn't growing.

501. He was concerned Gary wasn't growing.

502. Jay was 6'5".

503. He wanted Gary to play college ball.

504. But then there was Jay's accident.

505. What accident?

506. It was seven years ago.

507. He worked at the packing plant.

508. He had an accident with one of the machines.

509. Excuse me.

510. What is this?

511. What?

512. What?

513. This light here.

514. I don't know.

515. There's something back there.

516. What is it, Mulder?

517. Looks like somebody's private little movie studio.

518. What?

519. What?

520. Oh, my God.

521. Got to drain the lizard.

522. What do you want, applause, man?

523. Rick?

524. Rick?

525. All right.

526. Sheriff, we're gonna find who did this...

527. Get away from him.

528. Get back.

529. Oh, my God.

530. (sobbing): Ricky.

531. Son.

532. Son.

533. No.

534. No. No!

535. His name is Gert Thomas.

536. He's owned the building for 21 years.

537. He used to run a day care center out of it.

538. They're holding him for us.

539. What is it?

540. I know that face.

541. What?

542. What?

543. That's quite a video library you've compiled for yourself.

544. I especially like the ones with the little boys.

545. I know.

546. I'm... a sick man.

547. No.

548. No, men who know they're sick try to get help.

549. No, men who know they're sick try to get help.

550. You just kept right at it for years.

551. I didn't mean to hurt anyone.

552. Did you kidnap those kids?

553. Yes.

554. Are you prepared to confess to those crimes?

555. Yes.

556. And to the murder of Rick Mazeroski and...

557. No.

558. I never murdered anybody.

559. Did you kidnap Rick Mazeroski?

560. Did you write this on his back?

561. Oh, my God.

562. Answer the question!

563. No, I...

564. I never killed them.

565. I never killed anybody.

566. I...

567. I really loved those kids.

568. I really loved those kids.

569. Is this how you express your love for them?

571. Did you write that on his back?

572. Yes! Why?

573. Because of what he had become!

574. What did he become?

575. Because those kids have become monsters.

589. So you're saying that Dr. Larson was paying you

590. a lot of money to inject the cattle with something

605. I don't think he killed anyone.

606. How can you be sure?

607. I just got the toxicology report back

629. It's been going on for years.

630. Does that man know anything about it?

631. No.

632. He's just some pour soul who blew their cover.

633. I don't think he knows any more than he's telling us.

634. Well, I think his boss must have,

635. because they just found him shot to death in a cow pasture.

636. What?

637. I think I know who shot him, Mulder.

638. That man that I recognized on the road today—

639. That man that I recognized on the road today—

640. that's the same man that executed Deep Throat.

641. Well, whoever's behind this, he's here covering their tracks.

642. He's going to go after the kids.

643. You get the sheriff

644. and meet me at Gary Kane's apartment.

645. And, Scully...

646. I want this guy alive.

647. Where's Gary?

648. He's in his bedroom. Go pack some clothes,

656. Call out every man you've got.

657. Where are we taking them?

658. Yes?

659. I need your help.

660. For?

661. It may offend your religious sensibilities,

662. but it could help save some kids' lives.

663. Sheriff.

664. Where's Mulder?

665. He told me to make sure that the kids were safe.

666. He told me to make sure that the kids were safe.

667. He thought there was some other place

668. this guy might be.

669. Stop right there!

670. Hey!

671. Don't move!

672. Don't move!

673. Put it down. Now.
