1. B-I-N-G-O, B-I-N-G-O,
and Bingo was his name-oCopy !req
2. There was a farmer had a dog
and Bingo was his name-oCopy !req
3. B-I-N-G-O, B-I-N-G-OCopy !req
4. B-I-N-G-O, and Bingo was his name-oCopy !req
5. There was a farmer had a dog
and Bingo was his name-oCopy !req
6. - Ah! What was that?
- What's happening?Copy !req
7. It's OK, it's OK. I just had a flat.Copy !req
8. - Oh, no!
- No problem here, honey.Copy !req
9. Darn it!Copy !req
10. Honey, would you hold the light?Copy !req
11. - Aagh!
- Paul!Copy !req
12. Paul!Copy !req
13. Paul!Copy !req
14. Where are you, Paul?Copy !req
15. What happened?Copy !req
16. Paul!Copy !req
17. Over here! I've found something!Copy !req
18. His leg's been eaten off.Copy !req
19. Hey! Up here!Copy !req
20. I need some help!Copy !req
21. It's in here! It's as tall as a house!Copy !req
22. - We can smoke him out.
- And then what?Copy !req
23. - I see it!
- He's coming at us!Copy !req
24. Agent Finley speaking.Copy !req
25. Working hard, Mulder?Copy !req
26. This woman claims she was
taken aboard a spaceship...Copy !req
27. .. and held in an anti-gravity chamber
for three days.Copy !req
28. Anti-gravity is right.Copy !req
29. Sorry to interrupt
your serious investigation.Copy !req
30. - I heard a story that'll take your knees out.
- What's that?Copy !req
31. They found a body
in the New Jersey woods yesterday,Copy !req
32. .. missing its right arm and shoulder.Copy !req
33. They think
they may have been eaten off... by a human.Copy !req
34. - Where in New Jersey?
- Just outside Atlantic City.Copy !req
35. Not an uncommon place to lose a body part.
They think it's the Mob?Copy !req
36. He was a homeless man.
There's no motive.Copy !req
37. You feeling lucky, Scully?Copy !req
38. Relative to whom?Copy !req
39. It's not our case, Mulder.
The local police are handling it.Copy !req
40. An X-File?Copy !req
41. Ever hear of something
called the Jersey Devil?Copy !req
42. A beast that's supposed to come out
of the woods and attack cars,Copy !req
43. ..like an East Coast Bigfoot.Copy !req
44. Read the file about the case in 1947.Copy !req
45. Save me the trouble.Copy !req
46. 1947. Family watches Dad
get dragged off into the woods.Copy !req
47. Cops find Dad
with a few appendages gnawed off.Copy !req
48. Cops corner a large, naked man
in the woods and gun him down.Copy !req
49. Autopsy shows human flesh and bones
in his intestine. A beast man.Copy !req
50. - Is the autopsy report here?
- Requisition for a car.Copy !req
51. The original disappeared
from the files after the incident.Copy !req
52. - There is a statement from the pathologist.
- I've heard this story since I was a kid.Copy !req
53. It's a folk tale, a myth.Copy !req
54. I heard the same story
when I was a kid, too.Copy !req
55. Funny thing is, I believed it. Thanks, Doreen.Copy !req
56. Fact is, we've got
a cannibalised body in New Jersey.Copy !req
57. Someone or something out there is hungry.Copy !req
58. They say animals can develop an appetite
for human flesh, but... this is no animal.Copy !req
59. See the teeth marks,
just below the clavicle?Copy !req
60. They're human.Copy !req
61. - Who found the body?
- A park ranger.Copy !req
62. Was he alive when it happened?Copy !req
63. It's hard to tell.Copy !req
64. There's no sign of a struggle.
His blood alcohol level was up.Copy !req
65. - Probably never knew what hit him.
- Any ideas about that?Copy !req
66. From the size of that bite mark,
I'd say large, adult male.Copy !req
67. - Detective Thompson is handling the case.
- Glenna?Copy !req
68. Hi. I'm Special Agent Dana Scully
and this is Agent Fox Mulder.Copy !req
69. I don't remember anybody
calling the FBI in on this.Copy !req
70. We're not here officially.
Agent Scully is a medical doctor.Copy !req
71. We heard about your victim
and thought we'd look.Copy !req
72. I'm sorry. I'm going to ask you to leave.Copy !req
73. - We have an investigation.
- Tommy, this is no time to get pissy.Copy !req
74. - We have jurisdiction here.
- Any suspects yet?Copy !req
75. I don't work for you, sir.Copy !req
76. Unless you hear from the attorney general,
this is a local matter.Copy !req
77. - Agent Mulder, we should go.
- No need to get bent out of shape!Copy !req
78. On the contrary,
I think I've been exceedingly polite.Copy !req
79. - So what's eating that guy?
- He was perfectly in his rights.Copy !req
80. The FBI has no overriding jurisdiction
in a murder case.Copy !req
81. You'd feel the same
if someone horned in on your work.Copy !req
82. Chances are, he'll be scratching his head
when they bring the next body in.Copy !req
83. You could have really humiliated him
and told him who the perpetrator was.Copy !req
84. The Jersey Devil.Copy !req
85. What do you say we grab a hotel, take in
a floor show, drop quarters in the slot,Copy !req
86. ..do a little digging.Copy !req
87. - You're kidding?
- OK, skip the floor show.Copy !req
88. - Mulder, I have to be back in DC.
- Have you got a date?Copy !req
89. No.Copy !req
90. I have my godson's birthday party at 6.30.Copy !req
91. - What are you doing?
- A little poking around.Copy !req
92. - Maybe make a weekend out of it.
- It's a three-hour drive back by myself.Copy !req
93. In Friday night traffic.Copy !req
94. Change of fifty.Copy !req
95. I found the bodyjust over there,
lying face down on the rocks.Copy !req
96. 32 years with the Parks Service,
I've seen some weird stuff,Copy !req
97. .. but never anything like this.Copy !req
98. The victim was a homeless man.
You get many wandering around?Copy !req
99. Well, occasionally, you'll see some, but...Copy !req
100. Most are scared of the woods.Copy !req
101. Scared? Of what?Copy !req
102. I don't know.Copy !req
103. The devil.Copy !req
104. - People say that's just a myth.
- Depends on who you talk to.Copy !req
105. What do you think?Copy !req
106. Well, like I said,Copy !req
107. ..32 years,Copy !req
108. ..I see a lot of weird stuff.Copy !req
109. Like one time,Copy !req
110. ..a little over four years ago,Copy !req
111. ..I saw what I thought was...Copy !req
112. ..a large man...Copy !req
113. .. come out of a copse of birch trees.
Not a stitch of clothing.Copy !req
114. He was about sixty yards away.Copy !req
115. And he starts sniffing the air,
you know, like a dog.Copy !req
116. And then he looked straight at me,
and I swear he smelled me,Copy !req
117. .. because he took off into the woods so fast
you'd swear he wasn't human.Copy !req
118. Really?Copy !req
119. - You never saw him again?
- No.Copy !req
120. But I feel him.Copy !req
121. And... I've found things.Copy !req
122. Some scat,Copy !req
123. .. half-buried, like a cat's, only more human.Copy !req
124. Found a half-eaten rabbit with
what looked like a human cuspid tooth,Copy !req
125. .. and deer bones, looked like
they'd been sharpened into tools.Copy !req
126. You think it's responsible
for the body you found?Copy !req
127. Well...Copy !req
128. I got a pension coming up in a few years.Copy !req
129. You know, you say the wrong thing...
I'll tell you one thing.Copy !req
130. I don't ever come out here
without my weapon any more.Copy !req
131. How far is it into town from here?Copy !req
132. About a mile, a mile and a half.Copy !req
133. I'm staying at the Galaxy Gateway
for a couple of days.Copy !req
134. - If you think of anything, will you call me?
- Sure.Copy !req
135. Look at this gorilla outfit!Copy !req
136. Where am I? I can't see!Copy !req
137. It's OK. It's all right.Copy !req
138. What happened? Did you bump your head?Copy !req
139. Cruiser! Stop that!Copy !req
140. Go on.Copy !req
141. What happened?Copy !req
142. - Jungle warfare.
- I could kill that dog.Copy !req
143. If the hit squad
doesn't get to him before you do.Copy !req
144. I am so glad you're here, Dana.Copy !req
145. Hey! Get off me! Cruiser!Copy !req
146. Cruiser, get down!Copy !req
147. Oh!Copy !req
148. - You're amazing.
- What?Copy !req
149. You're a natural.
I don't know how you keep it together.Copy !req
150. Mommy radar.Copy !req
151. I don't think I'm cut out for this, El.Copy !req
152. You went to the FBI Academy.
What better training for motherhood?Copy !req
153. Seriously. You're great with kids.
What do you mean?Copy !req
154. - When do I find the time?
- First you have to get a life.Copy !req
155. Of course, it helps if you can find a man.Copy !req
156. - Know of any?
- They're disappearing faster...Copy !req
157. .. than the Brazilian rainforest.Copy !req
158. - What about that guy you work with?
- Mulder?Copy !req
159. - I thought you said he was cute.
- He's ajerk. He's not ajerk. He's... um...Copy !req
160. He's obsessed with his work.Copy !req
161. Hi. I'm Rob. Scott's dad.Copy !req
162. - Oh! Come in.
- Thanks.Copy !req
163. Hey, tiger!Copy !req
164. How you doing?
You having a good time?Copy !req
165. Divorced.Copy !req
166. Did anybody here know Roger Crockett?Copy !req
167. He was murdered two days ago.Copy !req
168. Ma'am, can I...Copy !req
169. Roger Crockett?Copy !req
170. Anybody?Copy !req
171. What do you want to know?Copy !req
172. Did you know Roger Crockett?Copy !req
173. Did you hear how he died?Copy !req
174. Yeah.Copy !req
175. Any ideas who might have done it?Copy !req
176. You a cop?Copy !req
177. No, I'm FBI.Copy !req
178. I'll show you something.Copy !req
179. OK.Copy !req
180. I need some money.Copy !req
181. - What is this?
- Stuck in the pocket of a jacket I found.Copy !req
182. Does it mean anything to you?Copy !req
183. - I've seen it.
- Where?Copy !req
184. - Right here, digging in the trash.
- Here?Copy !req
185. Are you hustling me?Copy !req
186. Swear to God.Copy !req
187. - What do you think it is?
- I don't know.Copy !req
188. It scared the hell out of me.Copy !req
189. - Has anybody else seen it?
- Everybody's pretty freaked.Copy !req
190. - Anybody told the cops?
- What, you think they don't know?Copy !req
191. - Where are you sleeping tonight?
- You're standing in my bedroom.Copy !req
192. You know the Galaxy Gateway?Copy !req
193. Room 756.Copy !req
194. Go ahead.Copy !req
195. They got HBO?Copy !req
196. Yeah. They do.Copy !req
197. - We've got a man up on that roof.
- Nothing to be afraid of.Copy !req
198. We can give you
a warm place to sleep it off.Copy !req
199. Hey! Back off!Copy !req
200. - There's a man up on that roof!
- Get in the car! Now!Copy !req
201. - What the hell are you doing?
- Enjoying the nightlife here in Atlantic City.Copy !req
202. I'll go right to the DA's office if I have to.Copy !req
203. - Obstructing an investigation. Misconduct.
- Let's go see her together.Copy !req
204. - We could add "withholding evidence".
- What are you talking about?Copy !req
205. Statements given to you
describing something stalking the city.Copy !req
206. This is the fishing trip they get me up
at three in the morning for?Copy !req
207. Unbelievable!Copy !req
208. Why else would you
be sweeping the streets tonight?Copy !req
209. You know it's out there.Copy !req
210. I got a perpetrator out there.Copy !req
211. Whether it's Hannibal the Cannibal or
Elmer Fudd, I've got a job to protect people.Copy !req
212. Is that your job? Or is it to keep
the dice rolling? The tour buses rolling in?Copy !req
213. You can't fill those casinos, this town
disappears like a quarter down the slot.Copy !req
214. I've seen it.Copy !req
215. Seen what?Copy !req
216. You've been spending too much time
in supermarket checkout lines.Copy !req
217. That story's as old as the hills.Copy !req
218. Who's gonna be responsible
when you lose your first tourist, Detective?Copy !req
219. - You are.
- No, you are, sir.Copy !req
220. Because you're wasting my time
and impeding the solution of this case.Copy !req
221. You wanna go on a safari, go to Africa.Copy !req
222. In the meantime,
enjoy the rest of your weekend.Copy !req
223. Agent Scully!Copy !req
224. Agent Mulder, line three.Copy !req
225. Where are you?Copy !req
226. - Not far from where you left me.
- You're still in Atlantic City?Copy !req
227. Scully, you got anything
happening this morning?Copy !req
228. What's that noise in the background?Copy !req
229. - That's a guy getting sick.
- Mulder, where are you?Copy !req
230. The drunk tank?Copy !req
231. It's not hard to see
why they mistook you for a vagrant.Copy !req
232. Are you gonna rag on me
or take me to get something to eat?Copy !req
233. Am I buying? Or did you manage
to panhandle some changeCopy !req
234. while you were at it?Copy !req
235. It moved like a cat. Quick and graceful.Copy !req
236. There's no way a human could've
gotten up on the roof that fast.Copy !req
237. - Mulder...
- What?Copy !req
238. What happens when word
gets to the Bureau?Copy !req
239. They dropped the charges.
Thompson did it to spite me.Copy !req
240. - I'm talking about this Jersey Devil.
- It's exactly like the ranger described.Copy !req
241. The way it moved, sniffed the air...Copy !req
242. - It's probably in search of food.
- Yeah, I'll say!Copy !req
243. It was in the garbage. If it was a man-eater,
why didn't it go for me?Copy !req
244. - It probably felt threatened.
- You've already given it a motive and alibi.Copy !req
245. It chewed somebody's arm off.
Hardly a defensive posture.Copy !req
246. - You do believe I saw something?
- You saw something, I'll give you that.Copy !req
247. But I'm not about to go in and sell
a sighting in a dark alley.Copy !req
248. - I've still got a hotel room I'm paying for.
- I have to get back to Washington by 7.30.Copy !req
249. - Got another birthday party?
- No.Copy !req
250. I have a date.Copy !req
251. Can you cancel?Copy !req
252. Unlike you, Mulder...
I would like to have a life.Copy !req
253. I have a life.Copy !req
254. Come on. I have somebody
I want you to meet on the way home.Copy !req
255. Just about every culture has one.
Yeti, Sasquatch,Copy !req
256. .. Russian almas, sonnequat.Copy !req
257. - Why is that?
- It's a universal wild-man myth.Copy !req
258. A fear of our dual natures as humans,
as creators of life and destroyers of life.Copy !req
259. - What's this chart?
- It shows the historic entry of man...Copy !req
260. .. onto each continent,
and the effect on other species,Copy !req
261. - .. which, as you see, has been disastrous.
- Why?Copy !req
262. We humans have retained hereditary traitsCopy !req
263. that have proven
to be extremely destructive.Copy !req
264. We tend to be tribal,
aggressively territorial,Copy !req
265. .. oriented by selfish sexual
and reproductive drives...Copy !req
266. .. that make co-operation beyond the family
or tribe extremely hard for us.Copy !req
267. We kill other species in order to survive?Copy !req
268. Humans sit at the top of the food chain,Copy !req
269. .. and we reduce other species'
chances of survival.Copy !req
270. I'm glad Dana left here
with more than a degree!Copy !req
271. What if something
entered the food chain above us?Copy !req
272. It won't happen.
Our intelligence virtually ensures that,Copy !req
273. .. barring the introduction of alien life,
we will live our days as rulers of the world.Copy !req
274. But what if, by some fluke of nature,Copy !req
275. ..a human was born who reverted
to its most animal instincts?Copy !req
276. A carnivorous Neanderthal.Copy !req
277. Wouldn't he be above us on the food chain?Copy !req
278. Sure. All he'd have to do is wait
outside any fast-food restaurant...Copy !req
279. .. and eat us on the way in.Copy !req
280. Haven't there been cases
of men raised in the wilderness...Copy !req
281. ..by animals who have no language
and hunt like predators?Copy !req
282. Several. But cannibalism is rare.Copy !req
283. - Even among the lower mammals.
- When faced with extinction?Copy !req
284. Maybe in the jungles of New Guinea...Copy !req
285. It's highly unlikely
that what you're suggesting...Copy !req
286. .. could have survived
in the woods of New Jersey.Copy !req
287. Highly unlikely, but not outside
the realm of extreme possibility?Copy !req
288. Well, it would be an amazing discovery.Copy !req
289. The hard thing was
when my wife remarried.Copy !req
290. I felt very competitive
for my son's attention.Copy !req
291. - It was weird.
- I'm sure.Copy !req
292. I became a superdad
on the weekend with Scott.Copy !req
293. I had this unconscious fear
of being replaced.Copy !req
294. I had dreams where I was running
over his stepfather with my car.Copy !req
295. You'll understand when you have kids.
They change everything.Copy !req
296. That's what they say.Copy !req
297. Maybe some weekend
we could take the kids to the beach.Copy !req
298. - Yeah!
- Gmm.Copy !req
299. Thank you.Copy !req
300. Can I ask about the case you're on,
or can't you say?Copy !req
301. I don't think it's a case
we should discuss over dinner.Copy !req
302. I don't suppose you want to hear about the
finer points of estate planning and taxation?Copy !req
303. Mulder.Copy !req
304. This is Peter Brullet
of the Jersey Parks Department.Copy !req
305. Oh, yeah. Hi.Copy !req
306. I found a body out in the woods today,Copy !req
307. looks like it's been dead
six to eight months.Copy !req
308. A long-haired male, missing
the same tooth I found in that rabbit.Copy !req
309. - Could be your devil.
- Where's the body now?Copy !req
310. - With the coroner's office.
- You're sure it was a male?Copy !req
311. It had all the plumbing.Copy !req
312. Excuse me.Copy !req
313. I'm sorry.Copy !req
314. Excuse me.Copy !req
315. - Scully.
- Mulder.Copy !req
316. - Sony to interrupt your evening.
- That's OK. What's up?Copy !req
317. I just had an amazing thought.Copy !req
318. Maybe it isn't a beast man
we're looking for, after all.Copy !req
319. If they picked it up, nobody logged the body
on the chart. I sure haven't seen it.Copy !req
320. What else would they have done with it?Copy !req
321. We may have called you for nothing.Copy !req
322. They're trying to sweep it under the carpet.Copy !req
323. Why?Copy !req
324. Any publicity, and the streets are crawling
with people who aren't playing crap tables.Copy !req
325. Word gets out it's on the loose, forget it.Copy !req
326. - You said it was a female?
- The body was a male.Copy !req
327. There's a chance there was a mate.
We have to find out.Copy !req
328. What are the chances of capturing it alive?Copy !req
329. If it is a primate,
it would have a natural fear of heights.Copy !req
330. It would also want to stay close
to its food source.Copy !req
331. This thing has no fear of heights.Copy !req
332. We'll stay together
and start with the lower floors.Copy !req
333. - How much time will that dart give us?
- It'll put down a bear for an hour.Copy !req
334. If I hit it.Copy !req
335. - What's a park-ranger vehicle doing here?
- I don't know.Copy !req
336. Check it out.Copy !req
337. Run a check for me.Copy !req
338. There's something here!Copy !req
339. It's blood.
She could be bringing her killing here.Copy !req
340. She could be injured.Copy !req
341. Roger. Zebra Team in position.Copy !req
342. What if it is a female, Scully?Copy !req
343. How close is she to you or me?Copy !req
344. Does she feel emotion?Copy !req
345. Or are her days just spent...
looking for food?Copy !req
346. Maybe she spends her day shopping.Copy !req
347. Eight million years out of Africa.
We're not all that different.Copy !req
348. We've put men into space. Built computers
that work faster than the human mind.Copy !req
349. While we overpopulate the world and create
new technologies to kill each other with.Copy !req
350. Maybe we're just beasts with big brains.Copy !req
351. What?Copy !req
352. No, I was just... thinking about
my godson's birthday party.Copy !req
353. Eight little six-year-old boys
running around.Copy !req
354. Talk about primitive behaviour!Copy !req
355. Mulder. He's a federal agent.
Ever hear of him?Copy !req
356. No.Copy !req
357. - What are you doing here?
- I'm a professor of anthropology.Copy !req
358. Mulder. That sound familiar?
I know he's here.Copy !req
359. Check upstairs, Andrew.
I want this place searched top to bottom.Copy !req
360. Move! Move!Copy !req
361. Mulder!Copy !req
362. Mulder, where are you?Copy !req
363. Mulder?Copy !req
364. Scully!Copy !req
365. Lay back.Copy !req
366. Oh! Mulder, you're hurt!Copy !req
367. You should have seen her.Copy !req
368. She was beautiful.Copy !req
369. She just about ripped your lungs out.Copy !req
370. She could have torn my head off, but
she didn't cos she sensed I wasn't a threat.Copy !req
371. I need federal jurisdiction on this case.
Mulder!Copy !req
372. - How old would you say she was?
- The assistant DA's on the phone.Copy !req
373. He wants to know what the hell is going on.Copy !req
374. Tell him he's got
a Neanderthal on the loose.Copy !req
375. - She was young.
- The Crime Unit has filed a complaint...Copy !req
376. .. that we're endangering
a murder investigation.Copy !req
377. - That is such crap.
- They've got her cornered in a building.Copy !req
378. It crawled into the wall.Copy !req
