The Walking Dead 1x6

1. - Hey, hey.

2. Whoa, whoa, whoa.

3. Ma'am.

4. Ma'am, please.

5. Please, can you help me?

6. - No!

7. - OK.

8. I'm going to get you out of here, bud.

9. OK.

10. OK.

11. What do I do?

12. Come on, Corporal, move out!

13. - Listen to me.

14. If you're going to wake up, I need you to do it now.

15. OK?

16. Now!

17. Please, man, you just show me a sign, anything.

18. Please, Rick!

19. - I'm— damn it.

20. - Cover the back.

21. - Hello?

22. Hello?

23. - Close those doors.

24. Watch for walkers.

25. - Hello?

26. - Anybody infected?

27. - One of our group was.

28. He didn't make it.

29. - Why are you here?

30. What do you want?

31. - A chance.

32. - That's asking an awful lot these days.

33. - I know.

34. - You will all submit to a blood test.

35. That's the price of admission.

36. - We can do that.

37. - You got stuff to bring in, you do it now.

38. Once this door closes, it stays closed.

39. - Vi, seal the main entrance.

40. Kill the power up here.

41. - Rick Grimes.

42. - Dr. Edwin Jenner.

43. - Doctors always go around packing heat like that?

44. - There were plenty left lying around.

45. I familiarised myself.

46. But you look harmless enough.

47. Except you.

48. I'll have to keep my eye on you.

49. - Are we underground?

50. - Are you claustrophobic?

51. - A little.

52. - Try not to think about it.

53. Vi, bring up the lights in the big room.

54. Welcome to Zone Five.

55. - Where is everybody?

56. The other doctors, the staff?

57. - I'm it.

58. It's just me here.

59. - What about the person you were speaking with?

60. Vi?

61. - Vi, say hello to our guests.

62. Tell them welcome.

63. VI (OVER INTERCOM): Hello, guests.

64. Welcome.

65. - I'm all that's left.

66. I'm sorry.

67. - What's the point?

68. If we were infected, we'd all be running a fever.

69. - I've already broken every rule in the book

70. letting you in here.

71. Let me just at least be thorough.

72. All done.

73. You OK?

74. - She hasn't eaten in days.

75. None of us have.

76. - You know, in Italy, children have

77. a little bit of wine with dinner.

78. And in France.

79. - Well, and when Carl is in Italy or France,

80. he can have some then.

81. - What's going to hurt?

82. Come on.

83. Come on.

84. What?

85. - Here you are, young lad.

86. - Eww.

87. - That's my boy.

88. That's my boy.

89. - It tastes nasty.

90. - You— you stick to soda pop there, bud.

91. - Not you, Glen.

92. - What?

93. - Keep drinking, little man.

94. I want to see how red your face can get.

95. - It seems to me we haven't thanked our host properly.

96. - He is more than just our host.

97. - Here!

98. - Here!

99. - Booya!

100. - Booya!

101. - Thank you.

102. - So when are you going to tell us

103. what the hell happened here, Doc?

104. All the other doctors that were supposed

105. to be figuring out what happened, where are they?

106. - We're celebrating, Shane.

107. No need to do this now.

108. - Whoa, wait a second.

109. This is why we're here, right?

110. This was your move.

111. We're supposed to, you know, find all the answers.

112. Instead, we— we found him.

113. Found one man.

114. Why?

115. - Well, when things got bad, a lot of people just left.

116. Went off to be with their families.

117. And when things got worse— when the military cordon

118. got overrun— the rest bolted.

119. - Every last one?

120. - No.

121. Many couldn't face walking out the door.

122. They opted out.

123. There was a rash of suicides.

124. That was a bad time.

125. - You didn't leave.

126. Why?

127. - I just kept working, hoping to do some good.

128. - Dude, you are such a buzz kill, man.

129. - Most the facilities power down, including housing.

130. So you'll have to make do here.

131. Couches are comfortable, but there

132. are cots in storage if you'd like.

133. There's a rec room down the hall that you kids might enjoy.

134. Just don't plug in the video games, OK?

135. Or anything that draws power.

136. Same applies.

137. If you shower, go easy on the hot water.

138. - Hot water?

139. - That's what the man said.

140. - Andrea?

141. - That's it.

142. That's it.

143. Get it out.

144. There you go.

145. - God.

146. Everything is gone.

147. - It's always better going down than coming up.

148. - I don't mean the wine, Dale.

149. It's over.

150. There's nothing left.

151. Don't you see that?

152. - I see a chance to make a new start.

153. - Oh my god, Dale.

154. Dale, didn't you see the look on Jenner's face?

155. Hear what I'm saying.

156. There's nothing left.

157. - How's the blood?

158. - No surprises.

159. - I came to thank you.

160. - You did?

161. You all right?

162. - You don't know what it's like.

163. You don't know what it's like out there.

164. You may think you do, but you don't.

165. We'd have died out there.

166. It was only a matter of time.

167. There's too many of those things.

168. My boy— my— my wife, I never— I never

169. told them what I really thought.

170. I never even hinted, just— just kept it in.

171. Kept in— kept us moving, you know?

172. Just kept it in.

173. Kept—

174. - It'll all be OK.

175. It'll be OK.

176. - Any good books?

177. - Uh-huh.

178. Enough to keep us busy for years.

179. All right.

180. Come on, kids.

181. It's bedtime.

182. Baby, go say your prayers.

183. I'm going to browse a bit.

184. Come on.

185. It's the first night we might actually get some real sleep.

186. It's a miracle, isn't it?

187. - Jesus, you scared me.

188. - I'm going tell you a few things,

189. and you're going to listen to me.

190. - Now is not the time.

191. - Come on.

192. When is it ever the time?

193. How can you treat me like this?

194. - You're kidding, right?

195. - No, huh-uh.

196. - Because you told me my husband is dead.

197. - Laura, I didn't lie to you, all right?

198. I didn't, OK?

199. Do you know what it was like there?

200. Huh?

201. Stop.

202. Things were falling apart.

203. They were slaughtering people in the hallways.

204. It was a massacre.

205. There were walkers everywhere.

206. - Yeah.

207. So you left him.

208. - Everybody else ran.

209. There were no doctors there!

210. It was just me!

211. He was hooked up to machines, and I did not know what to do.

212. I even took my ear, and I put it on his chest,

213. and I listened for a heartbeat, and I did not hear one.

214. I— I don't know why.

215. Maybe it was gunfire.

216. I don't know what it was.

217. But there was no way he could have survived that.

218. No way.

219. - He did.

220. - Yeah.

221. But then I had John to think about, didn't I?

222. I had you and Carl, and I needed to think about it.

223. I had to get you—

224. - No.

225. - That's what I had to do.

226. Just stop it.

227. If you thought for one second that he was still alive,

228. would you have come?

229. So I saved your life.

230. You and your little boys, that's what I did.

231. OK?

232. And if I could have traded places with him, I would have.

233. I would trade places with him right now,

234. because— no, no no— you—

235. - No.

236. - I love you.

237. - No.

238. You're drunk.

239. No.

240. You're drunk. - And I know— here's the thing.

241. I thought that you loved me too, because there's no way that you

242. could have been with me the way that you were.

243. Just— it's OK.

244. Just stop.

245. Listen!

246. - Jake!

247. - You love me.

248. - Get your hands off me! Get your hands off me!

249. - I said I loved you.

250. There's nobody here.

251. - Please, stop!

252. - Stop!

253. Shh, Laura, all right, just— ah!

254. - We don't have to be afraid anymore.

255. We're safe here.

256. All right?

257. - Good morning.

258. - Are you hung over?

259. Mum said you'd be.

260. - Mum is right.

261. - Mum has that annoying habit.

262. - Eggs.

263. Powder, but I do them good.

264. I bet you can't tell.

265. Protein helps the hangover.

266. Where did all this come from?

267. - Jenner.

268. - Could you help me, please?

269. - We thought you could use it.

270. - Thank you.

271. - Some of us, at least.

272. - Don't ever, ever, ever let me drink again.

273. - Hey.

274. - Hey.

275. - You feel as bad as I do?

276. - Worse.

277. - The hell happened to you?

278. Your neck?

279. - Must have done it in my sleep.

280. Never seen you do that before.

281. - Me neither.

282. Not like me at all.

283. - Good morning.

284. - Hey, Doc.

285. Hey, Doc.

286. - Doc, I don't mean to slam you with questions first thing.

287. - But you will anyway.

288. - We didn't come here for the eggs.

289. - Give me a playback of TS 19.

290. VI (OVER INTERCOM): Playback of TS 19.

291. - Few people ever got a chance to see this.

292. Very few.

293. Is that a brain?

294. - An extraordinary one.

295. Not that it matters in the end.

296. Take us in for the HIV.

297. VI (OVER INTERCOM): Enhanced internal view.

298. - What are those lights?

299. - It's a person's life.

300. Experiences, memories— it's everything.

301. Somewhere in all that organic wiring, all those ripples

302. of light, is you— the thing that

303. makes you unique and human.

304. - You don't make sense ever?

305. - Those are synapses— electric impulses

306. in the brain that carry all the messages.

307. They determine everything a person says, does, or thinks

308. from the moment of birth to the moment of death.

309. - Death?

310. That's what this is?

311. A vigil?

312. - Yes.

313. Or rather, the playback of the vigil.

314. - This person died?

315. Who?

316. - Test Subject 19.

317. Someone who was bitten and infected

318. and volunteered to have us record the process.

319. Vi, scan forward to the first event.

320. VI (OVER INTERCOM): Scanning to first event.

321. - What is that?

322. - It invades the brain like meningitis.

323. The adrenal glands haemorrhage.

324. The brain goes into shutdown, then the major organs.

325. Then death.

326. Everything you ever were or ever will be gone.

327. - Is that what happened to Jim?

328. - Yes.

329. - She lost somebody two days ago.

330. Her sister.

331. - I lost somebody, too.

332. I know how devastating it is.

333. Scan to the second event.

334. VI (OVER INTERCOM): Scanning to second event.

335. - The resurrection times vary wildly.

336. We have reports of it happening in as little as three minutes.

337. The longest we heard of was eight hours.

338. In the case of this patient, it was

339. two hours, one minute, seven seconds.

340. - It restarts the brain?

341. - No, just the brain stem.

342. Basically, it gets them up and moving.

343. - But they're not alive.

344. - You tell me.

345. - It's nothing like before.

346. Most of that brain is dark.

347. - Dark, lifeless, dead.

348. The frontal lobe, the neocortex, the human part,

349. that doesn't come back— the you part.

350. Just a shell driven by mindless instinct.

351. - God.

352. What was that?

353. - He shot his patient in the head.

354. Didn't you?

355. - Vi, power down the main screen and the workstations.

356. VI (OVER INTERCOM): Powering down main screen

357. and workstations.

358. - You have no idea what it is, do you?

359. - It could be microbial, viral, parasitic, fungal.

360. - Or the wrath of God?

361. - There is that.

362. - Somebody must know something— somebody somewhere.

363. - There are others, right?

364. Other facilities?

365. - There may be some.

366. People like me.

367. - But you don't know?

368. How can you not know?

369. - Everything went down— communications,

370. directives, all of it.

371. I've been in the dark for almost a month.

372. - So it's not just here.

373. There's nothing left anywhere.

374. Nothing.

375. That's what you're really saying, right?

376. Jesus.

377. - Man, I'm going to get shit faced drunk again.

378. - Dr. Jenner, I know this has been taxing for you,

379. and I hate to ask one more question.

380. But that clock, it's counting down.

381. What happens at zero?

382. - The basement generators, they run out of fuel.

383. - And then?

384. - Vi, what happens when the power runs out?

385. VI (OVER INTERCOM): When the power runs out,

386. facility-wide decontamination will occur.

387. - Decontamination?

388. What does that mean?

389. - I don't like the way Jenner clammed up,

390. the way he just wandered off like that.

391. - What's wrong with him?

392. Seriously, man?

393. Nuts, medicated, or what?

394. - In there.

395. Check that way.

396. Check.

397. VI (OVER INTERCOM): Emergency lighting on.

398. - What the hell is this?

399. - Hey!

400. You guys got lights?

401. - Nah, they just went out.

402. - Anything?

403. - Yeah.

404. A lot of dead generators and more empty fuel

405. drums than I can count.

406. - It can't be down to just that one.

407. - Mum?

408. Something wrong?

409. - Nothing.

410. It's just— the air conditioning stopped.

411. - I did the best I could in the time that I had.

412. I hope you'd be proud of that.

413. I always think there's going to be more time.

414. And it burns out.

415. - Why is the air off?

416. - And the lights in our room?

417. - Yeah, what's going on?

418. Why is everything turned off?

419. - Energy use is being prioritised.

420. - Air isn't a priority?

421. And lights?

422. - It's not up to me.

423. Zone 5 is shutting itself down.

424. - Hey.

425. Hey, what the hell does that mean?

426. Hey, man, I'm talking to you.

427. What do you mean, it's shutting itself down?

428. How can a building do anything?

429. - You'd be surprised.

430. - Rick?

431. - Jenner, what's happening?

432. - The system is dropping all nonessential uses of power.

433. It's designed to keep the computers

434. running to the last possible second.

435. It starts as we approach that half hour mark.

436. Right on schedule.

437. It was the French.

438. - What?

439. - They were the last ones to hold out as far as I know.

440. While our people were bolting up the doors

441. and committing suicide in the hallways,

442. they stayed in the labs until the end.

443. They thought they were close to a solution.

444. - What happened?

445. - Same thing that's happening here.

446. No power grid.

447. Ran out of juice.

448. The world runs on fossil fuel.

449. I mean, how stupid is that?

450. - Let me tell you something!

451. - To hell with this, Shane!

452. I don't even care.

453. Laurie, grab our things.

454. Everybody, get your stuff.

455. We're getting out of here.

456. Now!

457. - OK.

458. - We're set.

459. - What's that?

460. VI (OVER INTERCOM): 30 minutes to decontamination.

461. - Doc.

462. What's going on here, Doc?

463. - Everybody, y'all heard Rick. Get your stuff and let's go.

464. Go now! - Let's go!

465. Come on!

466. - Did you just lock us in?

467. He just locked us in!

468. - We've hit the 30-minute window.

469. I am recording.

470. - Carl.

471. You son of a bitch!

472. - Shane!

473. - You locked us in here!

474. You locked us in here!

475. - No, no, no, no!

476. Don't!

477. No, don't do it!

478. - Jenner, open that door now.

479. - There's no point.

480. Everything top side is locked down.

481. The emergency exits are sealed.

482. - Well, open the damn things.

483. - That's not something I control.

484. The computers do.

485. I told you— once that front door closed,

486. it wouldn't open again.

487. You heard me say that.

488. It's better this way.

489. - What is?

490. What happens in 28 minutes?

491. What happens in 28 minutes?

492. - You know what this place is?

493. We protected the public from very nasty stuff!

494. Weaponised smallpox!

495. Ebola strains that could wipe out half the country!

496. Stuff that you don't want getting out, ever!

497. In the event of a catastrophic power failure

498. and a terrorist attack, for example, HITs

499. are deployed to prevent any organisms from getting out.

500. - HITs?

501. Vi, find.

502. - HITs— High-Impulse Thermo baric fuel-air explosives—

503. consist of a two-stage aerosol ignition that produces a blast

504. wave of significantly greater power and duration than any

505. other known explosive except nuclear.

506. The vacuum pressure effect ignites the oxygen

507. between 5,000 and 6,000 degrees, and is useful when the greatest

508. loss of life and damage to structures is desired.

509. - It sets the air on fire.

510. No pain.

511. An end to sorrow, grief, regret.

512. Everything.

513. - Open the damn door!

514. - Out of my way!

515. - You should have left well enough alone.

516. It would have been so much easier.

517. - Easier for who?

518. - All of you.

519. You know what's out there.

520. A short, brutal life and an agonising death.

521. Your— your sister.

522. What was her name?

523. - Amy.

524. - Amy.

525. You know what this does.

526. You've seen it.

527. Is that really what you want for your wife and son?

528. - I don't want this.

529. - Can't make a dent.

530. - Those doors are designed to withstand a rocket launcher.

531. - Well, your head ain't!

532. - Back up!

533. - You do want this.

534. Last night, you said you know it was just a matter of time

535. before everybody your loved was dead.

536. - What, you really said that after all your big talk?

537. - I had to keep hope alive, didn't I?

538. - There is no hope.

539. There never was.

540. - There's always hope.

541. Maybe it won't be you.

542. Maybe not here.

543. But somebody somewhere.

544. - What part of everything's gone do you not understand?

545. - Listen to your friend.

546. She gets it.

547. This is what takes us down.

548. This is our extinction event.

549. - This isn't right.

550. You can't just keep us here.

551. - One tiny moment, a millisecond, no pain.

552. - My daughter doesn't deserve to die like this.

553. - Wouldn't it be kinder, more compassionate

554. to just hold your loved ones and wait for the clock to run down?

555. - Hey!

556. - Get out of my way, Rick!

557. Get out of my way.

558. - Open that door, or I'm going to blow your head off.

559. Do you hear me?

560. - Brother, brother, this is not the way you do this.

561. We will never get out of here.

562. - Shane, you listen to him.

563. - When he dies, we all— we all die!

564. - Shane!

565. Shane!

566. You done now?

567. Are you done?

568. - Yeah, I guess we all are.

569. - I think you're lying.

570. - What?

571. - You're lying about no hope.

572. If that were true, you'd have bolted with the rest

573. and taken the easy way out.

574. You didn't.

575. You chose the hard path.

576. Why?

577. - It doesn't matter.

578. - It does matter.

579. It always matters.

580. You stayed when others ran.

581. Why?

582. - Not because I wanted to.

583. I made a promise to her— my wife.

584. - Subject 19 was your wife?

585. - She begged me to keep going as long as I could.

586. How could I say no?

587. She was dying.

588. It should have been me on that table.

589. I wouldn't have mattered to anybody.

590. She was a loss to the world.

591. Hell, she ran this place.

592. I just worked here.

593. In our field, she was an Einstein.

594. Me, I'm just Edwin Jenner.

595. She could have done something about this.

596. Not me.

597. - Your wife didn't have a choice.

598. You do.

599. That's— that's all we want.

600. A choice, a chance.

601. - Let us keep trying as long as we can.

602. - I told you, top side is locked down.

603. I can't open those.

604. - Come on!

605. - Let's go!

606. Come on, let's go!

607. - Move it, move it, move it!

608. - There's your chance.

609. Take it.

610. - I'm grateful.

611. - The day will come when you won't be.

612. - Hey!

613. We got four minutes left!

614. Come on!

615. - Let's go.

616. Let's go, Jack.

617. - No, I'm staying.

618. I'm staying, sweetie.

619. - That's insane!

620. - No.

621. It's completely sane. For the first time in a long time.

622. I'm not ending up like Kim and Amy.

623. It's no time to argue, and no point,

624. not if you want to get out.

625. Just get out.

626. Get out.

627. - Dog, come on, man.

628. Come on, let's go!

629. Let's go!

630. - I'm staying, too.

631. - Andrea, no!

632. Just go!

633. Go!

634. - Andrea!

635. This isn't what Amy would want for you!

636. - She's dead.

637. And you need to leave.

638. - Shoot the doors open!

639. Come on!

640. - Does it work?

641. - Try, try!

642. - Dale?

643. - Time is almost up.

644. - Look out!

645. - Dog, get down, get down!

646. Jesus.

647. - The glass won't break?

648. - Rick, I have something that might help.

649. - Carol, I don't think a nail file's going to do it.

650. - No.

651. Your first morning at camp, when I washed your uniform,

652. I found this in your pocket.

653. - Look out!

654. - Get down!

655. - OK.

656. You win.

657. - What are you doing?

658. - I said OK.

659. - Don't pull this, Dale.

660. - I'm not pulling anything.

661. - If you're staying, I stay, too.

662. He's right.

663. We know what's waiting for us out there.

664. I don't want to face it alone.

665. - Dale, get the hell out.

666. I don't want you here.

667. - Too bad.

668. You don't get to do that— to come into somebody's life,

669. make them care, and then just check out.

670. I'm staying.

671. The matter is settled.

672. - Wait, wait, wait!

673. They're coming.

674. - They got out.

675. - Dale, get down!

676. Get down!

677. - Come back, everybody!

678. - Dale!

679. - Get down!

680. - Come on.

681. - Come on!

682. Come on, get in!

683. Get in!
