8. a monument built by nature honoring disuse

10. of nature being left to its own devices.

11. But it's another kind of jungle, the kind that comes

12. in the aftermath of man's battles against himself.

13. Hardly an important battle,

14. not a gettysburg or a marne or an iwo jima.

15. More like one insignificant corner patch

16. in the crazy quilt of combat,

17. but it was enough to end the existence of this little city.

18. It's been five years

19. since a human being walked these streets.

20. This is the first day of the sixth year

21. as man used to measure time.

22. Perhaps a hundred years from now, or sooner,

23. or perhaps it's already happened two million years ago.

24. The place?

25. The signposts are in english

26. so that we may read them more easily,

27. but the place is the twilight zone.

28. Here, invader... eat.

29. Eat.

30. The only reason I can see for our fighting

31. is that your uniform is a different color

32. than mine.

33. Do you understand my language?

34. I suppose not.

35. Anyway, I repeat...

36. there's no longer any reason for us to fight.

37. There are no longer any armies.

38. Only rags of various colors that were once uniforms

39. like the two sets of rags we wear.

40. There are no more boundaries, governments or noble causes,

41. therefore no reason to fight.

44. hereby declare peace upon the entire world!
