1. 1x47 - "Political Power"

2. Hmm. This spot should be safe.

3. Amethyst, do you have the robonoid?

4. Yeah. Don't worry about it.

5. Amethyst! I just repaired that!

6. Yeah, yeah. It's fine.

7. Ugh! Okay.

8. We have everything we need for the experiment.

9. And Steven is home, fast asle-e-e-e-ep!

10. - Hey, guys! - Steven!

11. It's way past your bedtime! You should really go

12. - back to the house. - What?

13. I don't want to miss... whatever this is.

14. - What is this? - Pearl got lonely,

15. so she made herself a robot friend.

16. It's not a robot friend ... it's a robot disruptor!

17. It should produce a localized

18. energy blast. So when Peridot shows up to...

19. neet with us, we'll have something that can knock out

20. all her robonoids. Now, stand back, everyone!

21. We did it!

22. Well, you knocked out

23. - all the lights in town. - Steven, that was not

24. the point of the ... All right. That was a start!

25. Now I'm going to need to take some parts out of

26. the washing machine. Steven, you might have to wear

27. - the same shirt for a while. - No problem.

28. Hmm.

29. Hmph.

30. What's wrong with the microwav... Ow!

31. What is the meaning of this?

32. Huh?

33. - Mayor Dewey? - Hello, there, young Universe.

34. - Any of your... sisters home? - My sisters?

35. Your caretakers, you know ... the tall one, the purple one,

36. the hot one?

37. Look, the power's out, and I've been

38. mayor long enough to know they had something to do with it.

39. My sisters?

40. Is there anyone else I can talk to about this?

41. - Pearl! - Coming!

42. - Oh! Uh, can I help you? - Yes.

43. Oh, hi! Uh, Beach City is currently

44. experiencing a widespread power outage.

45. Oh, don't worry about that.

46. The power should be back on as early as tonight or

47. - as late as... never. - Never coming back?

48. - Yes? - No, no, no!

49. It has to come back! The people of Beach City can't

50. handle a situation like this! They need their electronic

51. distractions so they won't notice that this town

52. - is a magnet for disaster! - Oh, don't be dramatic.

53. I saw humans get on fine without power for millennia.

54. You used to hunt and gather.

55. What happened to that?

56. You don't understand. Sure, things seem calm now, in

57. the light of the day, but when the sun goes down, so does...

58. - the town. - He's right.

59. Mayor Dewey, this is our responsibility.

60. We'll help you clean up this mess!

61. No, we won't!

62. - I'll help you clean up this mess! - Okay.

63. But you're not getting paid.

64. We got to go do damage control now, or the boardies

65. - are gonna get restless. - Boardies?

66. Hello, youth resident of Beach City.

67. - Is everything all right? - You mean besides the power

68. knocking out the freezers and melting

69. - all this ice cream! - What? Ice cream?

70. It's a real pain in the ... Ugh!

71. I'd offer you some, but it's pretty soupy.

72. Is this happening to ice cream all over town?

73. - This really is a crisis! - Now let's all calm down here.

74. - I have everything under control. - You do?

75. Of course! The power will be back,

76. and the freezers will be working by sundown.

77. No need to cry over, uh, frozen milk.

78. Here. I'll catch you kids on the side

79. that flips! You take care now.

80. - See you later! - Thanks for the glowstick!

81. So, everything is going to be okay?

82. - What? No! - Y-You lied to them?

83. Look, Steven, it's not lying when you're the mayor.

84. - It's politics. - It is?

85. Of course it is. Let me tell you something.

86. When you work for the government, you can't control

87. what happens in the world, but you can control

88. how people feel about it. That's the real weight I carry ...

89. making the good people of Beach City feel better,

90. - safer, more secure. - But ...

91. What's my other option ... let the people panic and riot?

92. That didn't work out so well for Ocean Town!

93. I've never heard of Ocean Town.

94. Exactly! That's why you've got to give

95. the people something to believe in.

96. When they see my giant head on this car, rolling down

97. the boardwalk, they think, "here comes help."

98. Well, some people think, "here comes that exterminator guy,"

99. but then they realize it's me, their mayor!

100. Have you seen that exterminator truck with the head on it?

101. - He's totally copying me. - Uh...

102. What's going on?

103. Attention, my good citizens!

104. As you may or may not be aware of,

105. there is a power outage affecting all of Beach City

106. - area proper. - Oh. Really?

107. This problem is just a temporary one, not a big

108. worry at all! Things could be worse!

109. We could be in... Ocean Town!

110. - Too soon! - Anyway, the power will be

111. back on by sundown, so, in the meantime, just enjoy this

112. beautiful, peaceful day outside.

113. The power will be back on before you know it. I promise!

114. - Ohh! - I trust this man!

115. Okay. Make sure everyone gets

116. a button and a glowstick.

117. Have a glowstick. Here you go.

118. - Uh, here. - Hey, Schtu-ball.

119. You get some sort of secret government internship

120. - I need to know about? - Here.

121. Apparently, you can never have too many

122. Mayor Dewey buttons. Sounds like I'm not gonna be

123. needing this glowstick, though. See you later, buddy!

124. But, Dad!

125. Nooooo.

126. So what if she shows up with more?

127. - I say we just mash 'em all! - It's not just

128. the robonoids. According to Lapis, she's going

129. - to have backup. - Who knows what she's

130. going to have? We won't stand a chance against

131. their weapons, but if we can just knock them out ...

132. It's not about the robonoids, Pearl.

133. - She's coming with other gems! - Says who?

134. Who cares? What does Lapis even know?

135. - Calm down, Amethyst. - You calm down-uh... Hey!

136. Look who it is! It's Steven!

137. Our ... Our best friend Steven! What are you doing here, buddy?

138. I... live here. Is everything okay?

139. - Of... course! - In fact, we were just

140. - about to play... cards. - Yes, cards!

141. Want to play war?

142. - I mean... peace? - Yeah, but how are we

143. - gonna play cards in the dark? - We can light a fire

144. - in the fireplace. - Yes! Like early man!

145. Come on, early man!

146. When the sun goes down, so does...

147. The town.

148. - Oh, my gosh! - How come there's still no power?

149. You said it would be on by sundown!

150. Everyone just calm down. I'm sure if we just talk

151. rationally, we can come to an agreement.

152. No agreement! You promised us!

153. Without power, I can't take care of my family!

154. Well, this one's fine. But he can't take care of himself!

155. I'm sure the power will be on

156. - tomorrow, I think... maybe. - Stop pulling our legs!

157. You lied to us, and you're lying again!

158. Please!

159. Good citizens of Beach City ... Ow!

160. - Liar! - You're a liar!

161. - If you'd all just calm down ... - Tip the truck!

162. Whoo-hoo!

163. Everyone, please!

164. The power might not be back on tonight. It might not be back on

165. - for even a year! - A year?

166. - What? - But I know that wou're

167. all going to be okay because I know each and every

168. one of you. You're smart and you're tough and you're

169. resourceful, and you all care about each other more

170. than you care about microwave dinners or video games or being

171. able to see in the dark. I know it'll hurt your

172. businesses. I know it'll hurt your lives.

173. But are we really going to hurt each other?

174. Of course not!

175. We'll face the night together, and we'll survive, because we

176. - are the light of Beach City! - Yeah!

177. - Whoo-hoo! - Uh, yes.

178. Thank you, Steven! I couldn't have said it better!

179. Don't try to worm your way out of this!

180. - Oh, no, no! - It's okay! It's okay!

181. Mayor Dewey was hiding things from you, but he did it because

182. he didn't want you to worry. He was just sheltering you from

183. the truth because he ... he loves you.

184. Mayor Dewey!

185. Oh, hey, Steven. If I can just concentrate

186. - the wave a little more... - Um... do you guys want to talk?

187. And why would we need

188. - to do that? - Hey, Steven, you still

189. - owe us a game of cards! - Yeah, get in on this.

190. N-No! I don't want to play cards!

191. - I want to talk about Peridot! - Oh, yes!

192. - Well, everything is fine! - No, it's not!

193. I know it's not. I know you ... you just don't

194. want me to be scared, but just tell me the truth.

195. Peridot is coming, and we don't know who or what

196. she'll be coming with. She's a modern gem with modern

197. gem technology that's bound to overpower us.

198. Steven, the truth is... we're scared.

199. We've been scared before, right?

200. None of us know what's going to happen, but that's okay.

201. We can figure things out... together.
