18. I still have 15 minutes before class starts!

19. - Hello. - Huh?

20. Hi, oh, I just..

27. Good for you. Well, I better—

28. And if elected, I will do all I can to make Dakota Union

29. a high school of which everyone can be proud.

30. In fact, I've drawn up a description

31. 'of my platform that includes 32 issues.'

32. - 'Item one, uniforms.' - Madelyn.

33. To keep distractions such as improper clothing

34. or social pressures from negatively impacting

35. the educational environment—

48. Man, those machines have been funky all year!

49. But does the school repair 'em? No!

50. "I'm sorry, Mr. Foley, that Is a low-priority item."

51. Yeah, for them, maybe.

52. Maybe we should tell Madelyn Spaulding

53. to add it to her campaign platform.

54. That control freak?

55. Last week, she came up to me at lunch

56. and criticized the way I was chewing.

57. Hey, maybe you should run for president.

58. You know, on a "fix the snack machines" crusade.

59. Hmm, that's not a bad idea.

60. Oh, yeah, and as a bonus

61. I get to give Ms. High and Mighty Madelyn

62. a little competition.

63. Deal.

64. 'Are you tired of snack machines that don't work?'

65. Are you hungry for change and maybe a burrito?

69. 'That's right, fellow students.'

70. 'No longer will we go without our chips, our sodas'

71. 'our creme-filled treats.'

72. Excuse me, "Fix the vending machines?"

73. You call that a platform?

74. He already has enough signatures

75. to qualify as a candidate.

76. - He does? You do? - Yep.

77. Which means, that it's gonna be one mighty tight race

78. between me and Joey Bonbora.

79. Really? Well..

80. Well, then, we'll just see about that, mister.

81. And how's your sign-up goin'?

88. Darn that Richie Foley!

89. I should be president, not him.

90. And not Joey Bonbora.

91. Me, I deserve it. It's just spite, jealousy and..

92. Excuse me, Mr. Homeless Person.

93. My name is Madelyn Spaulding

94. and I'm writing an essay for extra credit

95. on the poverty-stricken population in Dakota.

96. Therefore, I'd like to ask you a few..

104. I hope they don't beat me up again.

105. Hey, Spaulding, you got a problem?

106. Yeah, her problem is nobody's gonna vote for her.

107. Why don't you both buzz off?

108. - Huh? Buzz, buzz, buzz. - Huh? Buzz, buzz, buzz.

109. - Buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz. - Buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz.

110. - Buzz, buzz, buzz. - Buzz, buzz, buzz.

111. I can control them!

112. Okay, people, quiet down.

113. We have a lot of speeches to hear today.

114. Uh, no, no, wait, wait, wait.

115. Give me caramel corn or give me death.

116. Uh, better fed than read?

117. Huh?

118. Uh, how about, let my people snack?

119. Hey, Richie, my man, how's it goin'?

120. Uh, fine, Joey.

121. Uh, you know, we're running against each other.

122. Yeah? Oh, well, good luck!

123. He could actually win this thing.

124. Come on, he's a nice guy, but he's not smart enough

125. to be president.

126. Never stopped anybody before.

127. And now the candidates for freshman class president.

128. Up first is Joey Bonbora.

129. Joey, Joey, Joey Joey, Joey, Joey..

130. Hey, hey!

131. Joey, penny for your thoughts.

132. 'Joey, Joey, Joey, Joey.'

133. 'Joey.'

134. What's going on there?

135. Mr. Bonbora, we're waiting.

136. Fellow students..

137. I no longer wish, to be freshman president.

138. So, I withdraw my name

139. and ask you to support the only candidate

140. who really deserves your vote.

141. Madelyn Spaulding.

142. - 'What?' - Madelyn?

143. Psst, V, check this..

144. Not so fast, Richard.

150. Richie, what's with you, man?

151. You're supposed to be on stage.

152. No, V, I heard Madelyn.

153. Well, yeah, she was just here talking to you.

154. No, bro, listen, it wasn't her talking.

155. It was like, she was inside my head.

156. 'I mean it, V.'

158. my skull, trying to change me into a, a brain puppet!

159. Ugh!

160. - Brain puppet? - Drone, mind slave, whatever.

161. When you showed up, your energy field

162. must've caused some kind of feedback and stopped her.

163. Richie, you have definitely been watching

164. too much science fiction.

165. Bro, I heard her thoughts.

166. She plans to turn every student here into a zombie!

167. Look, if Madelyn had mind-control powers

168. do you honestly think she would waste time

169. taking over a high school?

171. Madelyn..

172. No, really, you are too kind.

173. Thank you, thank you very much.

184. I know, sorry.

185. But I need to learn about how the mind works.

186. In case you ever get one?

187. Come on, I won't hurt 'em.

188. Then, maybe next time, you'll ask

189. before you just grab my stuff!

190. Please, Sharon.

191. Some of the kids at school have been acting weird.

192. I'm trying to figure out why.

193. Go on.

194. I figure maybe it's drugs or a virus

195. or something in the water.

196. Or somebody with telepathy.

197. Say what?

198. Well, there's this girl, Madelyn. Kind of a pain.

199. Anyway, she's running against Richie

200. for freshman class president.

201. Only Richie thinks she's a Bang Baby

202. and can turn people into brain puppets.

203. Brain puppets?

204. Okay, I know it sounds crazy.

205. Brain puppets!

214. 'Virgil Hawkins.'

215. Me? No, see, you got it all wrong.

216. I'm Static, not—

217. Now, Virgil, you can't fool me.

218. I know all about you.

219. Your static powers may protect you

220. but there are other ways to keep

221. you from ruining my campaign.

222. What do you mean?

223. Oh, you'll see.

224. Oh, it's just a dream.

225. Huh?

226. They're all brain puppets!

227. Hey, uh, family.

228. Up kind of late, aren't you?

229. Uh-huh. Listen, I'm just gonna go downstairs for, huh?

253. and I am running for freshman class president.

254. Hello.

255. Yay.

256. Some of us are destined for greatness. It's a gift.

257. But it's also a burden

258. especially if nobody else appreciates that greatness.

259. This could go on a while.

260. 'Especially if everybody is so mean'

261. and not doing their jobs

262. so that the really great people have to do all the extra work

263. and never get any thanks

264. and never get invited to sleepovers or anything!

265. Yeah.

266. Only now, it's gonna be different.

267. Tomorrow, you will all vote for me

268. as president of the freshman class.

269. And if that goes well, why stop with freshman?

270. I could run the school.

271. I could be president of everybody!

272. Whoa there, Madame President, I demand a recount.

273. What are you doing here?

274. Shutting you down, lady.

275. I have your whole crazy speech on tape.

278. I'm going to tell the whole world

279. that Static is really Virgil Hawkins.

280. I'm still gonna shut you down.

281. Attention, students, this is your president speaking.

282. Get me that superhero.

283. And his little tape, too!

284. Whoa!

285. Aah!

286. I have no power.

287. And no way out.

288. Except past them.

289. splash

290. Come on, come on!

291. Oh, yeah!

292. Woo-hoo!

293. Static?

294. Richie?

295. Yes, Richie.

296. And the varsity football team.

297. Aah.

298. You may as well give me that videotape.

299. Even if you show it to the police

300. I would just take over their minds, too.

301. From now on, I'm the boss.

302. Oh, yeah? Well, you're not the boss of me.

303. - Am too. Am too. - Am not. Am not.

304. Hold him!

305. Argh!

306. You will do

307. as I... command!

308. No, I won't!

309. Unh.

310. Aah!

311. Ugh.

312. Yes!

313. How did I end up at school?

314. Why are we out here in our underwear?

315. Huh, nice nightie, Ruth.

316. Take a hike, weasel face.

317. I'm so embarrassed.

318. - I can't remember a thing. - 'Oh, what happened?'

319. - Hey, what happened? - What are we doing here?

320. - What happened? - Uh..

321. Hello, I'm Sadelyn Maulding.

322. I'm running f-for-for, unh..

323. Oh, let's just say that Madelyn and I

324. had a little meeting of the minds.

325. Okay, okay, settle down, settle down.

326. My fellow Americans..

327. Oops, sorry, wrong speech.

328. This was a very close race.

329. Thanks to you, the faculty knows that we will not rest

330. until the vending-machine crisis gets resolved!

331. And thanks to my opponent Joey Bonbora

332. who will take up the issue during the next term

333. as the new president of the freshman class.

334. Come on out, Joey.

335. Great concession speech, man.

336. Very classy.

340. Madelyn? Well, Static peeked in on her this mornin'.

341. She took quite a zap to the head

342. but she's gonna be okay.

343. Does she remember who Static is?

344. She doesn't even remember she's a meta-human.

345. Let's just hope it stays that way.

346. V, I gotta hand it to you.

347. It must've been pretty scary

348. when she had us all under her control.

349. Not to mention having everyone turn against you.

350. Huh, yes, it was.

351. V? V?

352. Must eat meat.

353. Hamburger.

354. Yes, hamburger and fries.

355. - Ooh. - Hungry.

356. - Feed me. - Mm, yum.

357. - Ooh. - Must eat.
