Snowfall 3x9

1. FX presents Snowfall.

2. Holy shit.

3. Here we are, killing ourselves

4. to keep these drugs away,

5. and our government is just bringing them in.

6. - So what are you thinking? - Burn the whole fucking thing down.

7. Why the fuck is the DEA coming after me?

8. My name isn't Reed Thompson, it's Teddy McDonald,

9. and I'm an officer with the CIA.

10. You got to get the fuck out of that house and don't even stop

11. to pack your bags. You got it?

12. You blew up my whole operation.

13. You outed every last one of my assets. Have you lost

14. - your fucking mind? - I could ask you the same thing.

15. Bringing cocaine into the U.S.?

16. Exposing yourself, the Agency, me?

17. You don't keep drugs at your place.

18. You know he ain't got the badge and the gun.

19. Something else is missing.

20. File detailing all my business with Reed Thompson.

21. Forget you ever saw any of this shit, Andre.

22. I put in 18 years out of my 20, and I'm not gonna let you

23. destroy this community. Here's your file.

24. Now get the fuck out of my house.

25. What time was I here?

26. Dinnertime, around 7:00.

27. We had frozen pizza. Celentano's.

28. - Pepperoni. I kind of burnt it. - And then?

29. We watched TV. St. Elsewhere. A rerun.

30. It was about a rapist in the hospital.

31. - And you fell asleep on the sofa. - Okay, good.

32. Good, and-and what time was that?

33. It was 11:30 or so. You slept here all night.

34. Woke up around 8:00 'cause of the garbage trucks.

35. What garbage trucks?

36. There were garbage trucks this morning.

37. Yeah. Right. Good. Good.

38. Y-You're not gonna give me any idea what this is about?

39. The less you know, the better.

40. Make sure you get rid of that.

41. What we doing here, nephew?

42. Aw...

43. Andre, uh, sh-shot hisself dead last night.

44. - What? - Fuck you talking about?

45. How you know that?

46. Moms called. Cops are everywhere.

47. I was in the Valley at Rob's.

48. But you know how it is.

49. Cops gonna be asking questions,

50. coming up with their own answers.

51. So I think it's best if we all lay low for a while.

52. - Lay low where? - Rob's.

53. - Shit... - He's got plenty room, it's far away from here.

54. Cops want to come at us,

55. it ain't gonna matter where we at.

56. Ain't no reason to make it easy for them.

57. Prentice and his people, they're ready and waiting,

58. in case y'all get picked up.

59. What if picking us up ain't what they got in mind?

60. What happened, Officer?

61. Franklin?

62. Franklin!

63. Mama's calling.

64. Lior, watch the door.

65. I love what you've done with the place.

66. Wouldn't it just be easier to close the blinds?

67. You know enough to warn me,

68. but not enough to stop my men from dying.

69. I'm truly sorry about Yuda. I am.

70. Someone in your camp outed me.

71. But what matters is, we weren't the ones who pulled the trigger.

72. What matters is my man is dead.

73. And you still won't give me

74. any straight fucking answer as to why.

75. You have enemies.

76. People want you dead.

77. I just need to know who they are

78. and I'll get the target off your back.

79. The timing.

80. The sniper.

81. It's Mossad.

82. Your own country's after you? Why?

83. A few years ago, I acquired some timing circuits

84. on the black market from a Viet Cong general.

85. I turned around and sold it, not realizing

86. they were only intermediary buyers.

87. And who did they sell them to?

88. The Islamic Revolutionary Guards.

89. They used them in IEDs.

90. - Against Israel. - Mm.

91. I tried to make amends.

92. Paid off officials, blackmailers on top of that.

93. I thought I was over with this shit!

94. Somebody made a stronger argument to retarget you.

95. Who?

96. Who did this?

97. They're being taken care of.

98. I am going to fix this.

99. I just need a couple days.

100. Mel found him?

101. Mm-hmm. And she all tore up.

102. Yeah, and uh, this Detective Aviles was over here

103. wondering where you were last night.

104. I-I told you. I-I was at Rob's.

105. - At his daddy's house? - Nah.

106. He got his own place now.

107. Hey, I was thinking...

108. two of you should stay at one our new apartments.

109. Just for a few days.

110. Mm-hmm.

111. No. Why? We're not leaving.

112. We didn't do anything wrong.

113. No one said you did. I just—

114. I think it'd be smart. Right?

115. Well, don't worry about us, son.

116. Me and your mama know how to weather this kind of storm.

117. - Good. - Yeah.

118. I'm gonna take off. You all right?

119. Are you?

120. Yeah.

121. Cops eat a bullet more than most.

122. Yeah, but he didn't seem like the type.

123. That hooker thing must've messed with him.

124. He said it wasn't a hooker.

125. And don't forget, his kid's a basehead.

126. That would send anyone down a hole.

127. Not to mention 'Nam.

128. Now, hold on. A lot of us served.

129. I know I'm not thinking about that shit.

130. He talked a lot about that Saint kid.

131. The next-door neighbor.

132. You hear they're doing, like, a million a week on the street?

133. - A million a week? That kid? - That's what I'm hearing.

134. Motherfucker...

135. All I know, if that M.E. report comes back

136. with anything suspicious...

137. we're gonna start taking shit apart.

138. Everyone hold on a minute.

139. Rigo Vasco, meet Stephen Havemeyer.

140. Mr. Havemeyer handles special compartmentalized issues

141. for the director of the CIA,

142. and he'll be able to facilitate any requests you might have

143. while you're working with the Agency.

144. Really? (chuckles)

145. Um... I-I don't know, maybe...

146. I would love a diplomatic passport.

147. Of course. You got it. We'll take care of it.

148. Thank you for being so accommodating, Rigo.

149. I can tell this is gonna be a very fruitful partnership.

150. Okay, thanks.

151. I look forward to talking more.

152. Hey, Stephen.

153. Come to our club sometime.

154. What the fuck are you doing?

155. I'm salvaging this operation.

156. - "Salvaging"? - You got played.

157. Julia did not come here to take the operation away from me.

158. She came here to blow it up.

159. And I can tell from the look on your face that you had no idea.

160. So I'm gonna make this extremely simple for you.

161. At this point, you have two options.

162. The first one is you call the director yourself

163. and let him know how you allowed one of your own agents

164. to destroy this operation and stop the flow of

165. tens of millions of dollars to the war effort.

166. Or?

167. You trust that I know what the fuck I'm doing

168. and you use your considerable influence to fix

169. what you unwittingly allowed Julia

170. to fuck up in the first place.

171. Start by contacting Mossad; set up a meeting.

172. What do you need from Mossad?

173. I don't have time to explain this to you.

174. People are dying.

175. Which call are you gonna make?

176. In a statement today, SoCal Edison

177. said that due to record high temperatures

178. in the ongoing heat wave,

179. the blackouts are likely to continue

180. over the next few days.

181. In tragic local news, Sergeant Andre Wright

182. was found dead in his home last night

183. in South Central Los Angeles.

184. The circumstances of his death are unknown.

185. An LAPD spokesperson said

186. - it's department policy... - Oh, my God.

187. not to comment on ongoing investigations.

188. We will continue to follow this story as details...

189. - Where's Melody? - Um...

190. she's still sleeping, Mama. You know she needs the rest.

191. No, what she needs is to eat

192. and to be with people that love her.

193. - Mel? Honey? - Mom. Mama, no.

194. Oh, my God.

195. - You're not high, are you? - No, Mama.

196. I just, I just didn't want her to leave.

197. Mel? I don't want you in this house.

198. Mama, no. - I cannot have

199. that poison in my house. I can't risk everything.

200. - You understand what I'm saying? We can't just

201. - throw her out. - That's all we can do, baby.

202. That drug is a sickness

203. that gets into everybody near.

204. Get out of my house.

205. - Get out! - I'm going.

206. - It's okay, Ms. Walker. - Don't touch me.

207. - Mel, Mel, no, just stay. - I'll see you later.

208. - Yeah, it's okay, I'll see you. - Mel. - No.

209. Hold up.

210. Oops. (laughing): I'm sorry.

211. Thought it was just you and me.

212. Anything you got to say to me you can say in front of Lee.

213. Fine.

214. Li'l Lee here been fucking with my crew.

215. Trying to take our territory.

216. Yeah, I ain't tried, I took that shit.

217. Let the man talk.

218. I feel like we need to renegotiate terms.

219. Okay.

220. Ten a key from now on.

221. (sniffles) Either that

222. or this little motherfucker head is my football.

223. That's my terms.

224. The prices are gonna stay the same.

225. You don't like it,

226. by all means, find yourself a new plug.

227. And Leon here...

228. well, he family.

229. Fuck with him, you fuck with me.

230. Understand?

231. Shit ain't right.

232. It ain't.

233. But that's the way it is.

234. Come on.

235. All right, nigga.

236. Hey, thanks for having my back with that motherfucker.

237. You know he want to take over and shit.

238. - Park the car. - What?

239. Park the car.

240. You know I got all this shit...

241. hanging over my head.

242. But you off trying to start a war with our partners?

243. The nigga dis me every time I see him.

244. Acting like he the one in charge and shit.

245. In Compton, he is the one.

246. You lose...

247. every time you bite with that nigga

248. and I'm the one that pays for it.

249. Now, you're gonna get off his corners,

250. you're gonna leave his people be,

251. or you the one that's gonna find yourself a new plug.

252. - You don't mean that shit. - The fuck I don't.

253. I built this shit.

254. Me. Brick by brick.

255. And I'll be damned if I let you tear it down

256. just 'cause you don't like the way another nigga talk.

257. Drive, motherfucker!

258. How this nigga living?

259. Your boy Rob doing good.

260. And so are we.

261. Maybe it's time we got a bigger place.

262. Not up here.

263. Hell no. (chuckles)

264. You knew...

265. that shit was gonna end up like this.

266. You blame me?

267. For taking Franklin and that brick

268. up to Claudia's that night?

269. If I ain't want to be in this game,

270. I wouldn't be.

271. And neither would you.

272. All that matter right now is that we survive.

273. That's it.

274. That's it.

275. I'll get it.

276. Who are you?

277. Melody. Well, honey, come on in.

278. Um...

279. U-Uh, Herb, you have a visitor.

280. Kids, let's all go play in the living room, okay?

281. - All right. - Let's go.

282. Good to see you, Melody.

283. Hey, Mel.

284. What are you doing here?

285. Did you always have two?

286. Uh, no. (chuckles)

287. No, we adopted Anthony last year.

288. - How are you holding up? - (scoffs)

289. What can I do, Mel?

290. Tell me what you need.

291. Franklin killed my daddy.

292. Franklin killed my daddy.

293. - (child crying) I got two more!

294. - (knocking on door) It's open.

295. (dog barking in distance

296. Hi, Bernice.

297. I'm Cissy. We-we live next door.

298. Oh, yeah. Aren't you sweet? Come on in.

299. You can put that on a magazine on the table.

300. - Oh, sure. - And have a seat.

301. I don't want to put you out none.

302. Don't be silly.

303. I could use some mature company.

304. How's she doing?

305. I had to nail her window shut.

306. We've already had half a dozen squabbles

307. that almost came to blows.

308. Between the-the grief and the drugs,

309. it's a wonder she don't explode.

310. I am so sorry.

311. I intend to get this house in shape and sell it,

312. and then move Mel down to Tyler...

313. till her heart and body can heal.

314. Of course. Is there anything I can do to help?

315. Between the cleaning, and watching that wild girl

316. and grieving,

317. I can't hardly think about the funeral.

318. We could host the repast.

319. Oh, that would be a godsend. Thank you.

320. Of course. And...

321. you're selling this house, huh?

322. I have a small real estate business.

323. Maybe I could help you with that.

324. I think the repast will be enough.

325. Oh, of course. Sure.

326. Andre told me everything.

327. You're a good woman, but your son...

328. His money and all his businesses,

329. even in real estate,

330. that's the devil's wages,

331. and I will not have nothing to do with that.

332. I was starting to think you weren't gonna show.

333. You all right?

334. We doing this again?

335. Doing what?

336. You calling me in here.

337. Find out if my mess is gonna end up in your lap.

338. Is it?

339. You don't need to worry, okay?

340. I did what needed to be done.

341. I've always done exactly what needed to be done.

342. To keep you protected and happy, keep the product moving,

343. make the money, everything!

344. (quietly): Everything.

345. I understand what you're going though.

346. You understand exactly zero

347. of what the fuck I'm going through, Reed.

348. You got blood on your hands.

349. You have innocent blood on your hands, even.

350. You're responsible for the lives

351. of everybody you love,

352. and you're worried all the time.

353. And you're afraid.

354. "What if I made a grave miscalculation?"

355. And inside of all that, you're completely,

356. utterly alone.

357. When does it end, Reed?

358. I don't know.

359. But...

360. until then...

361. I'll be right here with you.

362. There are things I wanted to say.

363. Um, because I'm guessing that after I leave,

364. unless it's about Paul, you and I won't—

365. won't be speaking for a while.

366. I wanted you to know how sorry I am.

367. Not for what I did, but that I had to hurt you to do it.

368. I don't know how else to try to make you understand

369. how scared I am for you,

370. except to say that

371. choosing between losing you...

372. and seeing you destroyed, I did the only thing

373. that I felt I could live with.

374. I know you can't believe me right now,

375. but everything I said...

376. everything I felt was true.

377. It's not too late, Teddy.

378. We could still have a life.

379. Please come with me.

380. You should leave your keys on the table before you go.

381. Returning a page.

382. Yeah, I can be there in-in 30.

383. Keep your hands on the wheel.

384. You arresting me?

385. Andre Wright was my friend.

386. But more than that, he was my partner.

387. Do you understand what that means?

388. I've got an idea.

389. I was with him hours before.

390. That was not a man contemplating suicide.

391. But what I couldn't figure out

392. is how somebody made it look so convincing.

393. How he would let anybody get that close.

394. You knew him for a long time, right?

395. - Since I was a child. - So I bet

396. he let you get real close.

397. Like this.

398. Andre thought he could stop the rain from coming.

399. Ain't a fucking thing you can do with a man like that.

400. If you're gonna kill me...

401. get on with it.

402. If you want a bullet,

403. I'd be more than happy to give it to you.

404. - But if you want to live... - (uncocks pistol)

405. maybe you and I can work something out.

406. The almighty dollar.

407. Yeah.

408. So long as you got enough of 'em.

409. I've got plenty.

410. And you'll make sure none of your buddies go rogue...

411. decide to come after me and mine?

412. You'll be covered.

413. But get one thing straight.

414. You work for me.

415. It's whatever I want whenever I want it.

416. You understand?

417. Yes, Officer.

418. Don't get smart, Franklin.

419. Because I promise I'll never let you get that close.

420. Drive safe.

421. It's just awful what happened to Andre.

422. Last week I saw him coming home from work, and...

423. now he's dead.

424. I never thought he'd be capable of something like that.

425. So sad.

426. You know he did it, right?

427. Either Franklin killed Andre

428. - or he had him killed. - Police ruled it a suicide.

429. That might be, but you see the way Franklin's been acting.

430. The weight he's been carrying...

431. I don't want to talk about this.

432. And I don't want to say it,

433. but if we're gonna continue to be in his life,

434. then we got to know where we're going.

435. Franklin hasn't spent the night

436. in the Valley in a long time.

437. I need to... I...

438. Wait, wait.

439. Melody? You asleep?

440. Officer Nix is here to see you.

441. Said you'd want to hear him out.

442. Don't take too long.

443. - She a mess and we got to get ready. - Yes, ma'am.

444. I'll be in the kitchen if you need me, baby.

445. The medical examiner's report came in.

446. It was a suicide.

447. That's fucking bullshit and you know it.

448. His prints on the gun,

449. the angle and trajectory of the shot,

450. - the weapon that he claimed... - Franklin Saint murdered my dad.

451. Franklin killed him!

452. These things happen.

453. You never know how someone's gonna react...

454. - The fuck are you talking about? - He was suspended,

455. and you've been in so much trouble...

456. Oh, I killed him?

457. I killed him. Great. I—

458. You know what? Get the fuck out.

459. - Get out! - I'm sorry.

460. (screaming): Get out!

461. - Bab... - Get out— Don't touch me!

462. We can't use this as any kind of trampoline.

463. - It's way too close to the border. - I know. I know.

464. Reed, this is Hernan.

465. - He's helping me. - Helping you with what?

466. I first thought about it that night in the woods,

467. digging, you remember?

468. What can we do to not need anyone's farm or routes,

469. - or whatever? - (clanking)

470. Not to be worried about la migra or customs...

471. So— What is that sound?

472. Yeah. Come on in.

473. Come on in.

474. You're digging a tunnel.

475. Starting to.

476. And it's going to go all the way under the border?

477. All the way.

478. We're going slowly on the other side.

479. In San Ysidro.

480. It's a clothing store.

481. Tunnel should be ready in less than a month.

482. So? What do you think?

483. Do you have beer?

484. What?

485. Thank you so much for having us here.

486. I'm only sorry we couldn't do more.

487. I'm sorry, Mel.

488. I know how it feels.

489. You do?

490. Yeah.

491. My dad died when I was five.

492. That must have been awful.

493. - (screen door slams) How you doing?

494. - Welcome. - Mm-hmm.

495. Mel?

496. Mel, did you...

497. Oh, Mel, you don't need that shit.

498. Baby, please...

499. Mel...

500. (quietly): Oh... fuck...

501. Mel, the fuck you doing?

502. Mel?

503. Aah!

504. Mel... (grunts)

505. Mel, don't...
