Directed by Mike Rohl

Cameron Bancroft as Dr. Coats • Stephen Lobo as Randall Brady • Mike Dopud as Security guard • Alessandro Juliani as Emil Hamilton • Jody Thompson as Police Woman

Zod and his soldiers release a virus into the air that turns humans into zombies. The only way to stop it is to make an antidote from the blood of another Kryptonian. After Lois is infected, Chloe pleads with Clark to donate his blood to stop the epidemic, even though it risks outing him to Zod.

1. Lois.

2. Lois.

3. Lois, are you okay?

4. Extended outlook is sunny and beautiful.

5. This is a false alarm, apparently.

6. Metro 12...

7. It's about, uh, two days before and they still haven't...

8. Here, have this filed for me by tonight. Thanks.

9. Sure thing.

10. Put away the pepper spray, Smallville. It's only me.

11. I wasn't hiding.

12. Well, looks like another thrilling Friday night.

13. Just you and me flying the redeye on this paper airplane.

14. - Almost like you never left the cockpit. - Well, it's nice to have my copilot here.

15. - What's with the bag? - All-nighter survival kit.

16. Comfort food, comfort footwear, and comfort music.

17. Chicken soup for my soul.

18. Everything okay?

19. You just seem a little off.

20. The only thing I'm off is a blurry butt-kicker's to-do list.

21. Over a week and not so much as a:

22. "Sorry, I've been busy saving the world, but gotta run."

23. I didn't realize the two of you were actually seeing each other now.

24. At this point it's not really seeing so much as still looking...

25. but a girl's gotta hope.

26. Okay, get your engines going.

27. Looks like there's a major fire on East Brunswick.

28. If we're here all night, I'll get coffee.

29. That's what I love about you, Smallville.

30. I say "fire," you say "food." I'll take mine black.

31. That was quick.

32. - Do you smell smoke? - No.

33. The fire just got put out by the Blur.

34. He is so amazing. Here you and I are having a coffee...

35. while he's out squelching fires in three seconds flat.

36. Two seconds.

37. - Not that anyone's counting. - Yeah.

38. There's a high-speed motorcycle chase out near the bypass.

39. Well, at least somebody's getting a little action tonight.

40. Clark, this is ice-cold.

41. Never mind. I'll get it myself.

42. Oliver.

43. Is this your idea of fun, now that you've hung up your bow?

44. Should have known it was you. Clark Kent, the king of buzz kill.

45. You and your pet rock put on a hell of a barbecue.

46. But I had my money on Doomsday, so...

47. You can play it off as a joke, but I know that the loss of Jimmy affected us both.

48. Well, I guess God's got a sick sense of humor.

49. I'm sorry. I shouldn't be taking your name in vain.

50. What, you need to hear me say it?

51. I should have listened to you.

52. I should have gotten rid of Davis instead of believing in him.

53. It's a little late.

54. I'm trying to make up for what happened, not add to the casualty list.

55. Well, I can't get my thrills leaping tall buildings or outrunning speeding bullets.

56. We mortals, we rely on a tweaked-out Ducati and the open road.

57. You're meant for more than this. This isn't you.

58. Who are you, huh?

59. What's this? What's the S stand for? What is that, "superstar"?

60. It gives people hope.

61. I'll tell you what, Clark.

62. Why don't you, uh, go ahead and plaster your symbol of superiority all over the city...

63. so people can worship you like some kind of modern Jesus.

64. That's what you want, right? That's why you're here?

65. - Here to save us. - You need help.

66. Maybe. But I hate to break it to you.

67. Not everybody believes in the second coming.

68. Have you found them?

69. They should have reported in by now.

70. They may have run into trouble.

71. They didn't send out an SOS.

72. And I should like to think that 12 ex-Navy SEALs could hold their own.

73. The longer it takes for us to locate these Kryptonians...

74. the more they'll blend in and disappear.

75. It's okay. It's just...

76. This doesn't make any sense. Tess is not the nervous-breakdown type.

77. But she is the lying, cheating, scheming type.

78. You keep enough secrets, they back up on your brain.

79. Seriously, alien orb? Now she's rambling about zombies?

80. All adds up to "C for crazy."

81. Just trust me. There's more to the story than that.

82. I respect how you got the lowdown on Little Miss Lithium's mental break.

83. - Sometimes you can be a little gullible. - Really?

84. Why don't you call your new friend to weigh in on it?

85. I'm not gonna cry wolf just to get a pity call from Studly Do-Right.

86. Something tells me he'd side with me on this one, anyway.

87. Why? Because you have so much in common?

88. Dr. Coats. Maybe it's psychological.

89. We could go with a Thorazine drip.

90. No, the delusions are most likely caused by the virus.

91. We can't identify it, and she's not responding to anti-virals.

92. I want her isolated. I'm sending all samples to the disease control labs.

93. I'll get the samples ready for transport.

94. Tess.

95. Come on, Lois. Wait till she's awake to get your comment.

96. Don't you wanna find out what made Cruella snap?

97. Tess, what happened to you?

98. Care to comment?

99. Tess?

100. It's me, Clark.

101. Doctor! Please, do something!

102. Do something to help her now!

103. Lois, are you okay?

104. I've thrown down with Tess before, but not quite like that.

105. I think there may be some truth in her story after all.

106. Which is why I'm heading back to the office right now to write it.

107. Three mils per hour, push. Yes, doctor.

108. Hey. Care for a little lo mein?

109. I just came from that Korean macrobiotic place.

110. They do an exquisite kelp salad.

111. I couldn't help noticing that you jumped out of your chair when I came in here.

112. I'd prefer if there were no secrets between us.

113. Then you're in the wrong business.

114. Chloe, I need your help.

115. Can you run a blood test on this? It belongs to Tess Mercer.

116. She's infected with something.

117. Lois and I went to see her. She attacked us both.

118. That's different than the way she is every day, how?

119. We'll get right on it. - I'm already in there.

120. It looks like she had some visitors this evening.

121. And not the friendly kind.

122. Viral rage can be traced to a dysfunctional anterior singular cortex...

123. The part of the brain that controls the primitive fight-or-flight instinct.

124. leaving the victims vulnerable to hyper-aggression.

125. Well, the DCA site's pretty impenetrable.

126. That's okay. The Disease Control Agency's sending a specialist.

127. - Think you can get something out of him? - I could try.

128. It'll take me at least a half hour to cross town.

129. - Do you get motion sickness? - Not really. Why do you ask?

130. Really?

131. Dr. Coats. Emil Hamilton.

132. Has her condition changed at all?

133. I'm afraid not. And now the virus has spread to 31 people and counting.

134. Any idea how the virus metastasized so quickly throughout her body?

135. Well, generally something spreading this fast is airborne.

136. We're about to quarantine the hospital, send a team to Miss Mercer's office.

137. The Daily Planet?

138. I thought Miss Mercer called an ambulance from the Luthor mansion?

139. No, she arrived at work experiencing some type of a mental trauma.

140. Paramedics picked her up at the Daily Planet.

141. Lois.

142. Randall?

143. Randall.

144. Still sleeping on the job, I see.

145. Rise and shine, Randall. I've got a major news flash for you.

146. - Clark. - I'm gonna get you out of here.

147. You have no idea what you're up against.

148. I'll get us through this.

149. Are you okay?

150. - That was close. - Yeah.

151. - You're hurt. - I'm okay.

152. Let's get you someplace safe.

153. I know I was supposed to give this to you after I checked your license...

154. but I couldn't help myself.

155. A lot of platinum cards in here.

156. But I bet this is the most valuable one of all.

157. Who is she?

158. It's, uh... Ahem. She's just someone I used to know.

159. Hey, watch it.

160. Just because I let that speeding ticket slide doesn't mean you can speed in here.

161. Well, I apologize, officer. Don't shoot.

162. But I've been up since, uh... It's like 4:00, yeah, on Tuesday.

163. So those pills right now are the only thing keeping me vertical right now.

164. It's fine. Just leave it.

165. - Is this a camera? - Ha, ha. It's a what?

166. It's some kind of spyware.

167. Well, it's not mine. I've never seen this.

168. Right. And it just accidentally got caught on your belt buckle?

169. So you could, what? Plaster my butt all over YouTube like Pamela Anderson?

170. Okay, first of all, no one's on YouTube looking at Pamela Anderson's butt. Ha.

171. Don't call or e-mail.

172. Don't worry. I never do.

173. Mercy.

174. Hey. I've isolated a suspect enzyme from Tess' blood...

175. but I haven't been able to find a match. Anything from the DCA?

176. Just that they think the virus is airborne and deliberately released by someone.

177. As you can see, I created a model of the virus path.

178. Oh.

179. Dr. Coats said the virus induces sleep so that it can germinate.

180. - If we could mimic the enzyme. We can create an antidote.

181. We just need to find the right blood match.

182. Huh.

183. I only ever seen an enzyme like that once before.

184. In Davis Bloome.

185. Do you think they've quarantined the city?

186. Probably. They found out it was an airborne virus.

187. You realize that means we could both have it.

188. We can't think like that.

189. I'm just saying, once we go out there, we might not make it.

190. - Lois. - I'm serious.

191. Those things are everywhere.

192. It would just suck to go out without any closure.

193. Clark, do you have any deep, dark secrets?

194. Do you?

195. Last year, when I was talking with the Red-Blue Blur...

196. for the first time in my life, I was doing something that mattered.

197. And I wanted to work with him because we did such good things together.

198. But then I started to realize...

199. that I wasn't just doing it to save people...

200. I was doing it for me.

201. I just wanted to be with him.

202. We all get crushes, Lois. It doesn't make you a bad person.

203. You don't understand.

204. I had never had this connection with someone before.

205. Now that I have this connection, I don't wanna go back to the way things were.

206. This is embarrassing to admit.

207. But I don't wanna be alone anymore.

208. We gotta go.

209. Oliver? What are you doing here?

210. Was looking for Tess when the whole building went Resident Evil.

211. Come on.

212. Got any idea what triggered this sudden appetite for human carpaccio?

213. One minute, my copy editor's dozing, next, he's trying to bite my face off.

214. Same thing happened to Tess. When she woke up she became one of them.

215. You think this incubates when people sleep.

216. Hope not. We only have a few hours till four million people get up to go to work.

217. That's one hell of a rush hour.

218. Get in here. You'll be safe.

219. Clark.

220. Someone's gotta go for help.

221. Please, be careful.

222. Everything's gonna be all right.

223. Okay. Good luck, Clark.

224. Oliver, she's in your hands now.

225. Don't let her fall asleep.

226. I found the antidote, but we're running out of time.

227. Where's this mystery, extraterrestrial specimen with Davis Bloome's blood type?

228. You're looking at him.

229. Well, that explains a lot.

230. How can you draw blood? No needle can puncture my skin.

231. Dr. Emil has a contact at LuthorCorp labs who sent over some liquid kryptonite.

232. We dip the needle in this and it'll penetrate your skin.

233. Here we go.

234. The reaction's quite intense.

235. - Get it out of him. - No, no. We need more blood.

236. - No. - Almost there.

237. It's killing him.

238. Good. He's gonna be okay, Chloe.

239. His vitals are within range.

240. - We need to get on that jet right now. - No. I'm not leaving him here.

241. I don't have time to prep the antidotes by myself.

242. Thousands, if not millions, may be unknowingly affected.

243. We have to get this into the water supply.

244. The sooner we do, the more people we can reach.

245. God, Ollie.

246. You're a mess.

247. Yeah, I know.

248. I'm sorry you have to see me like this, Lois.

249. Why don't you, um...?

250. Why don't you go ahead and tell me I'm full of it like you always used to, huh?

251. God, I miss you.

252. I miss our days together.

253. Deep down in your heart, I know you do too.

254. Lois. Lois.

255. Come on, hey. Lois. Hey, wake up.

256. The antidote's permeated the water supply...

257. and achieved its target concentration.

258. That's great for the people taking a shower this morning.

259. But what about the rest of us?

260. We're seeding the atmosphere to release moisture.

261. Deliver the virus a knockout blow.

262. Should be able to create a curative precipitation to blanket the city.

263. We've reached our target coordinates. Prepare to launch.

264. In the event something goes wrong, I want you to know...

265. your contributions have been appreciated.

266. Nothing's going wrong.

267. Now I know why Oliver had such faith in you.

268. He finally met someone who was a match for his confidence.

269. Probably no surprise that you were the one to betray him.

270. Are you gonna explain that not-so-subtle barb?

271. Well, you've been tracking Oliver and the rest of his league, haven't you?

272. Apparently, you've made yourself more at home at Watchtower than I thought.

273. May I ask why you're spying on him?

274. The longer they stay separated, the more vulnerable they are.

275. - So you're protecting them? - Yes. Someone has to.

276. The people who are the worst at taking care of themselves...

277. are the ones the world actually needs the most.

278. I assume that no one else knows this.

279. No, it's my secret.

280. Now the real question is, will you keep it?

281. Well, I guess you'll just have to trust me.

282. Lois.

283. Lois, are you okay?

284. Lois?

285. Lois!

286. It's okay. You're gonna be all right.

287. Lois?

288. Clark.

289. Clark, what happened?

290. We made it.

291. There we go.

292. You only had to do one thing, Oliver...

293. keep her awake.

294. But Lois almost died.

295. You've spiraled down so far you couldn't even protect her.

296. Is there any part of the person I used to know still there?

297. Maybe not.

298. Look, I understand that it's hard trying to figure out...

299. how to come back from what happened. Maybe you need help.

300. Actually, I thought about what you said...

301. and I took a look in the mirror and you were right.

302. I've been running away from myself for a long time now.

303. But now I know who I really am.

304. All right. Then you know what you have to do.

305. Yeah.

306. Thank you, Clark.

307. Hey.

308. Lois.

309. Uh, I just came by to say thanks.

310. And to apologize if I tried to rip your head off or anything.

311. You know, you have a pretty mean left hook.

312. I don't remember any of that.

313. But I do remember seeing a whole new side of Clark Kent.

314. - Which side was that? - I'll give you a hint.

315. It starts with H and ends with "ero."

316. I wasn't even wearing red or blue.

317. You've got a long ways to go before you can do that.

318. Still, I think we make a pretty good team.

319. Yeah, we do.

320. You never did tell me your secret.

321. - Well... - Relax, Smallville.

322. Keep the mystery.

323. You need to work every last drop of it you've got.

324. Coats.

325. Three things cannot be long hidden.

326. The sun, the moon...

327. and the truth.

328. That's from a sacred human text, from a prophet they call Buddha.

329. - Major Zod... - No.

330. And the truth is...

331. you've become reckless, haven't you?

332. Unleashing a hostile virus to humanity.

333. Have you lost your foresight?

334. I did it all for our survival.

335. Our cloak of anonymity is the only thing keeping our presence from this world.

336. They will hunt us when they discover the virus' true origin.

337. They won't have the chance, sir.

338. I found the secret to our abilities that were promised us.

339. While you were rounding up our people, I discovered one of us in Metropolis...

340. under our noses.

341. Jor-El.

342. He survived.

343. Major, he didn't just survive.

344. According to the news reports of miraculous saves around the city...

345. he has power from the yellow sun.

346. And yet we have none?

347. He has chosen to harness the powers for himself and left us defenseless.

348. Jor-El betrayed us.

349. Releasing the virus was the most effective way to uncover him.

350. Were you successful?

351. His blood was used to create the antidote to the virus.

352. Track it. He's ours.

353. I trust you see the risk was worth it.

354. It takes a certain kind of man to step outside the boundaries of his station.

355. Kneel.
