1. Javier, if the boss
catches you resting...Copy !req
2. He's gonna do what —
fire me?Copy !req
3. Francisco, the guy
doesn't even pay us.Copy !req
4. I didn't come to America
to be a slave.Copy !req
5. I came to be with my mom.Copy !req
6. If we run fast enough,
we can escape.Copy !req
7. Everyone who's tried to run
has disappeared.Copy !req
8. Francisco, you've known me
your whole life.Copy !req
9. Have I ever let you down?Copy !req
10. You just got to trust me.Copy !req
11. Francisco, come on!Copy !req
12. ¿Está bien?
¿necesita ayuda?Copy !req
13. Somebody call a doctor!Copy !req
14. What's happening here?Copy !req
15. Get him some water.Copy !req
16. You two, come on,
back to work.Copy !req
17. Let's go!Copy !req
18. Francisco,
if you stay here,Copy !req
19. you're gonna end up
like that guy back there.Copy !req
20. Let's go find my mom.Copy !req
21. Hurry, Francisco.Copy !req
22. Come on.
Let's go.Copy !req
23. What?Copy !req
24. I don't know.
What was that?Copy !req
25. Shh! Shh! Shh!Copy !req
26. Run.Copy !req
27. Come on.
Let's go!Copy !req
28. Hurry, Francisco.
Run faster!Copy !req
29. Come on.Copy !req
30. Francisco?Copy !req
31. Francisco?Copy !req
32. Francisco?Copy !req
33. you didn't get much sleep.Copy !req
34. Neither did you.Copy !req
35. It's kind of become
a pattern lately.Copy !req
36. You mean
since you proposed?Copy !req
37. Lana, I don't want you
to give me an answerCopy !req
38. until you're ready.Copy !req
39. To be honest,
I wish I could take it back.Copy !req
40. Look, I'm usually...Copy !req
41. More calculated
and strategic.Copy !req
42. But with you,
you never make me see clearly.Copy !req
43. I do everything
out of impulse.Copy !req
44. You're not the only one.Copy !req
45. Things have just moved
so fast.Copy !req
46. Take as much time
as you want.Copy !req
47. Thank you.Copy !req
48. Um, are you sure
that the board can't surviveCopy !req
49. without their boss
for one more hour?Copy !req
50. Believe me, if I could stay
with you, I would.Copy !req
51. Look, just because I'm stuck
in an office all dayCopy !req
52. doesn't mean you can't be
off having fun.Copy !req
53. Three lost vermeer paintings
were discovered last month.Copy !req
54. You should go
to the opening.Copy !req
55. At Metropolis museum?Copy !req
56. Actually,
it's a bit farther.Copy !req
57. The rijksmuseum.Copy !req
58. In Amsterdam?Copy !req
59. Lex, that's 4,000
Miles away.Copy !req
60. And one of the most romantic
cities in the world,Copy !req
61. where you'll feel
very lonelyCopy !req
62. and realize how much
you miss me.Copy !req
63. Nice strategy, boss.Copy !req
64. Only if it works.Copy !req
65. Hey!Copy !req
66. Wait. Hold on.Copy !req
67. What happened to you?
Are you all right?Copy !req
68. You should get those cleaned up.
Why don't you come inside?Copy !req
69. I promise, no one's
gonna hurt you.Copy !req
70. I think we have milk,
orange juice...Copy !req
71. And, uh, lemonade.Copy !req
72. Guess this would be easier
if I spoke Spanish.Copy !req
73. Orange juice, please.Copy !req
74. Orange juice.Copy !req
75. Your English is perfect.Copy !req
76. I watched a lot
of American TV.Copy !req
77. Oh.
And what's your name?Copy !req
78. Javier.
I'm Clark.Copy !req
79. So, javier...Copy !req
80. Why don't you tell me
how you got all scraped upCopy !req
81. and why you were hiding
in our barn?Copy !req
82. Please promise you won't
call the police.Copy !req
83. Why would I call
the police?Copy !req
84. Because I ran away
from that farm down the road.Copy !req
85. What, jed McNally's?Copy !req
86. If I ever wanted to see
my mom again,Copy !req
87. I had to escape
from that place.Copy !req
88. You talk about that farm
like it's a prison.Copy !req
89. It is.Copy !req
90. No one was allowed to leave.Copy !req
91. There was barely enough
to eat.Copy !req
92. My friend and I, Francisco,
tried to escape.Copy !req
93. But we started running,Copy !req
94. and there was this
really loud noise.Copy !req
95. Then he was gone.Copy !req
96. Look, um, I'm sorry.
I will have to call the sheriff.Copy !req
97. No! You can't.Copy !req
98. I'm here illegally.
They'll send me back to Mexico.Copy !req
99. Mexico?Copy !req
100. That's a long way
from Smallville.Copy !req
101. How did you get here?Copy !req
102. Last week, a coyote smuggled
15 of us across the borderCopy !req
103. in the back of a truck.Copy !req
104. I was supposed to be sent
to see my mom.Copy !req
105. Instead I ended up
at that farm.Copy !req
106. Where's your mom now?Copy !req
107. She works at a laundry company
down in granville.Copy !req
108. When my dad died,
she moved up north.Copy !req
109. Saved up money for two years
to get me here.Copy !req
110. Your mom must really
miss you.Copy !req
111. Yeah.
See this?Copy !req
112. She gave me this...Copy !req
113. To keep me safe.Copy !req
114. I should've given it
to Francisco.Copy !req
115. We did everything
together.Copy !req
116. He was like a brother
to me.Copy !req
117. Well, don't worry.
We're gonna find your friend.Copy !req
118. Hey, there, Clark.Copy !req
119. Mr. McNally.Copy !req
120. Well, it's been
a long time.Copy !req
121. Your farm looks great.Copy !req
122. Thought your crops
were nearly destroyedCopy !req
123. during the last
meteor shower.Copy !req
124. It may sound strange,Copy !req
125. but I've come to think of that
meteor shower as a blessing.Copy !req
126. Taught me,
with a little hard work,Copy !req
127. anything is possible.Copy !req
128. What did the deputy want?Copy !req
129. Looking for
illegal aliens.Copy !req
130. You better believe that all
my workers have their papers.Copy !req
131. I'm sorry to hear
about your father, Clark.Copy !req
132. How's your mom holding up?Copy !req
133. She's okay.
Thanks.Copy !req
134. Our tractor,
on the other hand —Copy !req
135. we broke an axle.Copy !req
136. I was hoping you might have
a spare pivot pin.Copy !req
137. Pivot pin?
You know, I just might.Copy !req
138. Let me check the barn.Copy !req
139. Excuse me.
I'm looking for Francisco.Copy !req
140. Do you know Francisco?Copy !req
141. El árbol Grande
a LA cinco.Copy !req
142. I'm sorry.
I don't understand.Copy !req
143. El árbol Grande
a LA cinco.Copy !req
144. Found one!Copy !req
145. You're in luck.
Still in the wrapper.Copy !req
146. Thanks.Copy !req
147. Give my best
to the senator.Copy !req
148. Sure.Copy !req
149. You know how I stand.Copy !req
150. Our budget issues
shouldn't get in the wayCopy !req
151. of one single classroom.Copy !req
152. Thank you.
You won't regret it.Copy !req
153. Bye.Copy !req
154. Mom, you're home early
from Topeka.Copy !req
155. The vote was postponed,
which isn't so bad.Copy !req
156. Gives me time
to shore up support.Copy !req
157. Is everything all right?Copy !req
158. Um...Copy !req
159. Afternoon, senator.Copy !req
160. Hello.
Is there a problem?Copy !req
161. Well, a motorist saw
a Latino boyCopy !req
162. running across highway 54,Copy !req
163. and he might be
an undocumented worker.Copy !req
164. Have you seen anyone?Copy !req
165. I just got home.
Clark?Copy !req
166. It seems like
an awful lot of troubleCopy !req
167. just to catch one person.Copy !req
168. Well, not if he's
in the country illegally.Copy !req
169. Do you mind
if I look at your barn?Copy !req
170. No.
Go ahead.Copy !req
171. Do you really have to search
our property?Copy !req
172. Clark, it's fine.
We don't have anything to hide.Copy !req
173. Then I'll go with you.Copy !req
174. No one seems
to be here.Copy !req
175. Well, it's best
to be thorough.Copy !req
176. You'd be surprised
where people can hide.Copy !req
177. You know, this kid
isn't hurting anyone.Copy !req
178. Why not just let him be?Copy !req
179. I'm just doing my job,
Clark.Copy !req
180. If you want to get
into the country,Copy !req
181. you need to do it the legal way,
like my parents did.Copy !req
182. If you see anything,
give us a call.Copy !req
183. Will do, deputy.Copy !req
184. You can come out now.
He's gone.Copy !req
185. How'd you know
I was in there?Copy !req
186. I used to play a lot of
hide-and-seek when I was a kid.Copy !req
187. Why didn't you tell
the police?Copy !req
188. Because I know what it feels
like to be out of place.Copy !req
189. Besides, I'm not
from around here, either.Copy !req
190. Where are you from?Copy !req
191. It's a place a lot
further than Mexico.Copy !req
192. Listen, javier,
I need your help.Copy !req
193. All the workers at the farm
are too scared to talk,Copy !req
194. but one of them
said this to me.Copy !req
195. Can you translate it
for me?Copy !req
196. "Big tree 5."Copy !req
197. There's a huge willow tree
at the farm.Copy !req
198. I'll go check it out.
You just stay here, all right?Copy !req
199. You're not going
anywhere, Clark.Copy !req
200. We have no choice.
We have to call immigration.Copy !req
201. I told Javier he'd be safe here,
and I meant it.Copy !req
202. I want to help this boy
as much as you do,Copy !req
203. but I took an oath
to uphold the law.Copy !req
204. All he's trying to do
is find his mom.Copy !req
205. I know,
but we have to go throughCopy !req
206. the proper legal channels.Copy !req
207. Was it legal when you forged
my adoption papers?Copy !req
208. I'm an illegal
immigrant, mom.Copy !req
209. You've been harboring me
for over 17 years.Copy !req
210. Your situation
was entirely different.Copy !req
211. We had to protect you!Copy !req
212. And I need to protect Javier.Copy !req
213. If I don't defend him,
who will?Copy !req
214. Clark...
There's a mother out thereCopy !req
215. who hasn't seen her son
in over two years.Copy !req
216. Do you really want to stand
in the way of that?Copy !req
217. I thought you of all people
would understand.Copy !req
218. I-I'll take him
to Chloe's, okay?Copy !req
219. Just give me 24 hours
before you call the deputy.Copy !req
220. I got to go somewhere,
mom.Copy !req
221. Are you Francisco?Copy !req
222. Do you know
where I can find him?Copy !req
223. LA tierra lo tragó.Copy !req
224. I'm sorry.
I don't understand.Copy !req
225. He says the ground
swallowed him,Copy !req
226. like all the others.Copy !req
227. Diablo de bajo
de LA tierra.Copy !req
228. There are three laundry services
in granville.Copy !req
229. Your mom must be
at one of them.Copy !req
230. All right.Copy !req
231. As soon as Clark finds
Francisco, we can go find her.Copy !req
232. One second.
Write those addresses down.Copy !req
233. Hi.Copy !req
234. Brace yourself for the date
of a lifetime.Copy !req
235. Start with a fancy dinner
complete with a snobby waiter,Copy !req
236. extra forks,
inappropriate footsie.Copy !req
237. Jimmy.Copy !req
238. Then a moonlit stroll
down main street.Copy !req
239. Hand-holding optional,
of course.Copy !req
240. And then we conclude
the evening here...Copy !req
241. With dessert.Copy !req
242. Uh...Copy !req
243. Hey.Copy !req
244. Uh, who's your friend?Copy !req
245. Javier, meet Jimmy.Copy !req
246. Javier is Clark's friend
from Mexico.Copy !req
247. He's only been in the country
for a couple weeks,Copy !req
248. and we're hanging out
until Clark gets back.Copy !req
249. Sorry.Copy !req
250. Well, let's get
this party started.Copy !req
251. Javier...Copy !req
252. You have not experienced
AmericaCopy !req
253. until you've experienced
pepperoni pizza.Copy !req
254. Isn't pizza from Italy?Copy !req
255. Well, that's
a-a common misconception.Copy !req
256. Um, we came up
with the cheese angle.Copy !req
257. I'm gonna go order.
Okay.Copy !req
258. Is that your boyfriend?Copy !req
259. Yeah, I'd like to order
one pepperoni pizza, please.Copy !req
260. Yeah. Large.Copy !req
261. Define "boyfriend."Copy !req
262. Hey.Copy !req
263. Clark.Copy !req
264. Did you find Francisco?Copy !req
265. Um, I'm still working on that.Copy !req
266. Chloe, can I talk to you
for a second?Copy !req
267. Just a second.Copy !req
268. Clark,
what did you find?Copy !req
269. Chloe, that place
is a graveyard.Copy !req
270. There's bodies buried
everywhere.Copy !req
271. I called the sheriff.Copy !req
272. He's on his way
to McNally's farm.Copy !req
273. I took a look at the farm's
property records.Copy !req
274. Guess which fortune 500 company
so graciously came inCopy !req
275. and purchased the land
after it had been pummeledCopy !req
276. during the last
meteor shower.Copy !req
277. Luthorcorp.Copy !req
278. Would you watch javier?
I'll be right back.Copy !req
279. Of course.Copy !req
280. I thought I told you
you're no longer a welcome guestCopy !req
281. at the mansion.Copy !req
282. Trust me, Lex —
I don't want to be here, either.Copy !req
283. But after
what you've done —Copy !req
284. and exactly
what did I do?Copy !req
285. Did I SWAT at a fly
with too much force?Copy !req
286. I know you want to make money,
Lex, at any cost,Copy !req
287. but exploiting and murdering
migrant workers?Copy !req
288. Is that really worth
the bottom line?Copy !req
289. Clark, if you're going to
accuse me of murder,Copy !req
290. you might want to have the facts
to back it up.Copy !req
291. Last year, Luthorcorp bought
jed McNally's farm,Copy !req
292. and any illegal immigrant
who didn't want to be usedCopy !req
293. as forced labor
was buried in a cornfield.Copy !req
294. I don't know
what you're talking about.Copy !req
295. But then I could quote you
"the farmers' almanac,"Copy !req
296. and you'd still call me
a liar.Copy !req
297. What do you think Lana would do
if she found out about this?Copy !req
298. Well, we could ask her,Copy !req
299. except she's on her way
to Amsterdam on my jet.Copy !req
300. I wasn't able to clear
my schedule.Copy !req
301. You should know I've told
the sheriff about this,Copy !req
302. so you can save your lies
about Luthorcorp for him.Copy !req
303. C.K. Missed a mean
stuffed crust.Copy !req
304. So where did he
run off to?Copy !req
305. Clark just had some stuff —Copy !req
306. look, you don't have to cover
for him, Chloe.Copy !req
307. I know why he left.Copy !req
308. He doesn't like me.
And I get it.Copy !req
309. You're my girl,Copy !req
310. and the poor guy is madly
in love with you.Copy !req
311. I can't really blame him.Copy !req
312. Clark and I are just friends.
Trust me.Copy !req
313. That ship is anchored
firmly at bay.Copy !req
314. And as far as him
not liking you,Copy !req
315. that's impossible, Jimmy...Copy !req
316. Because you make me
so happy.Copy !req
317. Uh, we have company,
remember?Copy !req
318. Oh, no.Copy !req
319. Javier!Copy !req
320. Wait!Copy !req
321. Javier!Copy !req
322. Clark, you got to come quick.
I'm at the apartment, okay?Copy !req
323. Just get here
as soon as you...Copy !req
324. Can.Copy !req
325. Where's javier?Copy !req
326. Oh, Clark,
I am so sorry.Copy !req
327. What happened?Copy !req
328. He was just eating pizza,
and then he disappeared.Copy !req
329. Jimmy is outside
looking for him right now.Copy !req
330. Chloe, all I did
was ask you to watch him.Copy !req
331. I know, and I plead guilty
to child negligenceCopy !req
332. in the third degree.Copy !req
333. Look, he just jumped
onto a truck and disappeared.Copy !req
334. Clark, if something
happens to him...Copy !req
335. Any luck?Copy !req
336. Been looking all night.Copy !req
337. I haven't found javier.Copy !req
338. Do you think any of those guys
are his buddy Francisco?Copy !req
339. Deputy morales?Copy !req
340. Have you identified
any of the bodies yet?Copy !req
341. They appear to be
undocumented laborers.Copy !req
342. All their papers
were forged.Copy !req
343. When the others found out
they were missing,Copy !req
344. they were too scared
to report it.Copy !req
345. What's gonna happen
to the others?Copy !req
346. They'll be detainedCopy !req
347. and sent back
to their country of origin.Copy !req
348. The good news is,
though,Copy !req
349. thanks to your tip, Clark,
McNally can't hurt anyone else.Copy !req
350. You sure there's no other field
we should check, McNally?Copy !req
351. Be in your best interests,
sir, to tell us now.Copy !req
352. That punk who got away —
he got to you, didn't he?Copy !req
353. Mr. McNally,
why did you do it?Copy !req
354. Desperate times
call for desperate measures.Copy !req
355. This farm
is my livelihood.Copy !req
356. So you brought in
slave laborCopy !req
357. then killed them
when they tried to leave?Copy !req
358. I wasn't about to let
a couple of lazy potato pickersCopy !req
359. turn me in.Copy !req
360. I guess I did that
for them.Copy !req
361. Well, then you and that boy
will pay for it!Copy !req
362. Get him out of here.Copy !req
363. When I told you
to keep me informedCopy !req
364. of jed McNally's activities,Copy !req
365. I thought you might include
such trifling detailsCopy !req
366. as mass murder.Copy !req
367. Sir, I had no ideaCopy !req
368. that he was killing
his workers.Copy !req
369. You might want to get
a stronger prescriptionCopy !req
370. for those glasses,
Dr. Bauer.Copy !req
371. They found corpses
on that farm.Copy !req
372. All that I knewCopy !req
373. was that the meteors
gave him the abilityCopy !req
374. to displace minerals
and burrow through earth.Copy !req
375. I didn't spend millions
on researchCopy !req
376. for the test subject
to end up in jail.Copy !req
377. Find McNally
before the authorities do.Copy !req
378. Mr. Luthor, you and I both know
the man could be anywhere.Copy !req
379. Then I suggest
you start digging.Copy !req
380. I want him back.Copy !req
381. Hey, Clark,
what happened?Copy !req
382. Javier is not the only one
who escaped.Copy !req
383. The police had McNally
in custody,Copy !req
384. and all of a sudden he
disappeared into the ground.Copy !req
385. Makes sense,
seeing as jed McNallyCopy !req
386. is 100% certified
meteor freak.Copy !req
387. I checked
into the planet's archives,Copy !req
388. and it looks like
our farmer friendCopy !req
389. was buried under a Mountain
of kryptonite.Copy !req
390. That's why he went missing
for three days,Copy !req
391. and it may explain his ability
to move underground.Copy !req
392. Being a human rototillerCopy !req
393. definitely helps
with the harvest.Copy !req
394. In the last year and a half,Copy !req
395. his farm has tripled
in productivity.Copy !req
396. It sounds like he was being
his own personal border patrol.Copy !req
397. I mean, if anyone
ever tried to leave,Copy !req
398. he made sure they wouldn't live
to tell the authorities.Copy !req
399. I can't believe it.Copy !req
400. The same jed McNally who used to
go fishing with my dadCopy !req
401. is now a murderer.Copy !req
402. If anything could turn
a law-abiding citizenCopy !req
403. into a card-carrying
serial killer,Copy !req
404. it's kryptonite.Copy !req
405. Unit 12.Copy !req
406. Suspected stowaway on bus
headed toward granville.Copy !req
407. Suspect male,
hispanic, early teens.Copy !req
408. No I.D.
Javier.Copy !req
409. I've been monitoring the police
scanner in granville.Copy !req
410. Absolutely could be...Copy !req
411. Hurry, Clark.Copy !req
412. Come on, kid,
the police are coming.Copy !req
413. Let's do this
the easy way, huh?Copy !req
414. I got to get to my mom.Copy !req
415. Leave him alone.Copy !req
416. Mind your own business,
kid.Copy !req
417. He is my business.Copy !req
418. How'd you do that?Copy !req
419. Javier, promise me you won't
tell anybody about this.Copy !req
420. Don't worry.Copy !req
421. I've become an expert
at keeping secrets.Copy !req
422. All right,
get in the truck.Copy !req
423. Let's get you home.Copy !req
424. So, I'm assuming that
a behind-the-scenes tourCopy !req
425. of a laundry wasn't exactly
on your dream-date itinerary.Copy !req
426. I wouldn't rule it out.Copy !req
427. A stack of towels
could be awfully cushiony.Copy !req
428. Easy.Copy !req
429. Uh, excuse me.
Hi.Copy !req
430. I'm just looking
for Esperanza Ramirez.Copy !req
431. Are you Esperanza?Copy !req
432. We know your son,
javier.Copy !req
433. Javier?Copy !req
434. He's in America?Copy !req
435. Yeah.
He's looking for you.
Where is he?Copy !req
436. At our friend's house.
We can take you there.Copy !req
437. Yes.Copy !req
438. We found her.Copy !req
439. Great. Thanks.Copy !req
440. That was Chloe.Copy !req
441. Your mom is her way
to my house right now.Copy !req
442. Oh, I can't believe it!Copy !req
443. After two years,
I finally get to see her.Copy !req
444. You never told me
about Francisco, Clark.Copy !req
445. Just tell me. Please.Copy !req
446. Javier, I'm sorry.
He's dead.Copy !req
447. The sheriff I.D.'D his body.Copy !req
448. Look, I know it's tough.Copy !req
449. I've lost people
close to me, too.Copy !req
450. Stop the car.Copy !req
451. Javier, I —Copy !req
452. please, just stop the car.Copy !req
453. Javier!Copy !req
454. Javier, I got to get you
out of here.Copy !req
455. I never should have brought
Francisco with me.Copy !req
456. Why didn't I give this
to Francisco?Copy !req
457. If we hadn't
tried to escape...Copy !req
458. It's not your fault,
javier.Copy !req
459. Come on.Copy !req
460. Let's go see your mom.Copy !req
461. Clark!Copy !req
462. Clark!Copy !req
463. Clark...Copy !req
464. You're all right.Copy !req
465. I think this is yours.Copy !req
466. Come on.
Let's go see your mom.Copy !req
467. Mamá!Copy !req
468. Javier.Copy !req
469. Are you okay?
What happened?Copy !req
470. Clark saved me.Copy !req
471. Javier should get to a hospital,
be checked out.Copy !req
472. No. We can't.
No hospitals.Copy !req
473. Hopefully you won't have to
worry about that anymore.Copy !req
474. I'm doing everything in my power
to get your family legal status.Copy !req
475. Mom, you can do that?Copy !req
476. I'm working on it.Copy !req
477. I've been talking
to Esperanza.Copy !req
478. Javier seems
like an amazing boy,Copy !req
479. a boy I'd be proud to see
as a citizen someday.Copy !req
480. What about your position
on the senate?Copy !req
481. Sometimes when you're dealing
with extraordinary people,Copy !req
482. you need to take a risk.Copy !req
483. That's a lesson
I learned from my son.Copy !req
484. Hey.Copy !req
485. Hi.Copy !req
486. How was your trip?Copy !req
487. A small-town girl
from KansasCopy !req
488. in the presidential suiteCopy !req
489. with a stretch limousine
at her Beck and call —Copy !req
490. it was definitely
a change.Copy !req
491. I'm sorry
if you felt uncomfortable.Copy !req
492. Not at all.Copy !req
493. Actually,
I thought it was amazing.Copy !req
494. Yeah, it's easy
to get used to, isn't it?Copy !req
495. Lex, there were 2,000 people
in line for that art exhibit,Copy !req
496. and suddenly
the ocean parted,Copy !req
497. and I was escorted
past everyone.Copy !req
498. I realized that money
isn't just luxury, Lex.Copy !req
499. It's power.Copy !req
500. And that power can be yours,
too, now.Copy !req
501. Think of all the good
we can do in the world.Copy !req
502. And I know exactly
where I want to start.Copy !req
503. "Huge 1-bedroom, dsl ready.
Sprawling views of downtown."Copy !req
504. If that doesn't scream
Chloe Sullivan —Copy !req
505. Jimmy, I'm not screaming
for anyplace to live.Copy !req
506. Okay, well, this one
is well-lit, secure parking.Copy !req
507. Jimmy,
I have an apartment.Copy !req
508. And, yes, my roommate might
blast metallica in the bathroom,Copy !req
509. but I'm happy there.Copy !req
510. Chloe,
it's in Smallville.Copy !req
511. Look, I just don't feel
too comfortableCopy !req
512. with my... Friend
living in a townCopy !req
513. surrounded
by murderous freaks —Copy !req
514. a chick who sprouts vines,Copy !req
515. a serial-killer farmer
with a dirt fetish.Copy !req
516. I mean,
who knows what's next?Copy !req
517. Jimmy, your "friend"
has been living in SmallvilleCopy !req
518. for the past 10 years.Copy !req
519. And believe it or not,
she is still standing.Copy !req
520. Then you must have
one dedicated guardian angel.Copy !req
521. Jimmy, look,
Smallville got me stories,Copy !req
522. and those stories
got me hiredCopy !req
523. at one of the best newspapers
in the world.Copy !req
524. Are you sure your looks
had nothing to do with it?Copy !req
525. Aren't you two
still on the clock?Copy !req
526. C.K.Copy !req
527. Just the man
that I wanted to see.Copy !req
528. Look,
I'm a straight shooter,Copy !req
529. so we should probably just
get this out in the open.Copy !req
530. I know that you got
your issues with me.Copy !req
531. What do you mean?Copy !req
532. The whole
Chloe-and-me thing.Copy !req
533. And, hey, you know what?
I get it.Copy !req
534. But what I'm about
is working through it.Copy !req
535. Do you play hoops?Copy !req
536. Great. Cool.Copy !req
537. Then we will, you know,
go play a little one-on-one,Copy !req
538. and we'll just leave it out
on the courtCopy !req
539. 'cause I'm your bro,
not your foe.Copy !req
540. Ring that bell.Copy !req
541. There it is.Copy !req
542. Please don't ask
any follow-up questions.Copy !req
543. Nice byline.Copy !req
544. Hey, thanks.
Yeah.Copy !req
545. It wouldn't have a happy ending
if it wasn't for you, though.Copy !req
546. Come on, Clark,
you put a psycho killer away,Copy !req
547. and you reunited a mother
with her son.Copy !req
548. I mean, there are
only so many hours in the day.Copy !req
549. Well, see,
that's the thing.Copy !req
550. No matter how many people
I save,Copy !req
551. I can't solve
the world's problems.Copy !req
552. I don't know anyone elseCopy !req
553. who does more for this world
than you.Copy !req
554. Clark?Copy !req
555. I thought
you were in Amsterdam.Copy !req
556. I'm back.
Is your mom around?Copy !req
557. No, she's in Topeka.Copy !req
558. Um, well, I brought by
some paperwork for her.Copy !req
559. Should I leave it
in the house?Copy !req
560. That's all right.
I'll take it.Copy !req
561. I'll make sure she gets it.Copy !req
562. This must be
pretty importantCopy !req
563. if you're hand-delivering it
yourself.Copy !req
564. Luthorcorp wants to sponsor
the residencyCopy !req
565. of the workers
on your neighbor's farm.Copy !req
566. They'll all be given jobs
at the plant.Copy !req
567. You realize the only reason
Lex is doing thisCopy !req
568. is to wash his hands of it.Copy !req
569. Lex had no ideaCopy !req
570. what was going on
on that farm.Copy !req
571. Lana,
you don't believe that.Copy !req
572. Unlike some people I know,
Lex doesn't lie to me.Copy !req
573. Or he just wants his name clear
of murder and slavery,Copy !req
574. so he sends a messenger
to do his cleanup work.Copy !req
575. I'm not Lex's messenger,
Clark.Copy !req
576. This was my idea.Copy !req
577. I resent the fact
that you think I'm some puppetCopy !req
578. that he can manipulate.Copy !req
579. I didn't mean it
like that.Copy !req
580. It's exactly
what you meant.Copy !req
581. McNally remains
in a low-level coma.Copy !req
582. Put him with the others.Copy !req
