1. An S.Copy !req
2. How exactly did you come up
with this, Clark?Copy !req
3. It's for Smallville High.Copy !req
4. Thought the school logo
could use an update.Copy !req
5. Your form could use a little function.Copy !req
6. I told you. Stick with the basics.Copy !req
7. You can't miss with a candlestick holder.Copy !req
8. You call this a letter opener?Copy !req
9. Poorly cast, shoddy workmanship.
I expected better from you, Ian.Copy !req
10. You're not gonna
grade me down, are you?Copy !req
11. I'm gonna give you
the grade you deserve.Copy !req
12. But I did the work.
I came to every class.Copy !req
13. Attendance isn't everything.
There's also attitude and effort.Copy !req
14. That's it. Good work, most of you.Copy !req
15. Grades will be posted Thursday.Copy !req
16. Clark, how about a sneak preview?Copy !req
17. Come on, man.
I'm not gonna tell your dad.Copy !req
18. So? Come on, man.
Don't keep me in suspense. How'd I do?Copy !req
19. You were smart to stick to the basics.Copy !req
20. What's bugging him?Copy !req
21. Let's just say that Ian's legendary 4.0
took a hit. I saw his grade.Copy !req
22. His name's right above yours
in Frankel's book.Copy !req
23. That's too bad.
Kid's an academic dynamo.Copy !req
24. But keep loading up on night classes and
extracurriculars, something's gotta give.Copy !req
25. Yeah.Copy !req
26. Ian.Copy !req
27. I need an A in this class.Copy !req
28. Mr. Frankel, we need to talk
about my grade.Copy !req
29. I told you, it'll be posted on Thursday.Copy !req
30. No, I need to know now.Copy !req
31. It's a C. And frankly, that was generous.Copy !req
32. Wait, that's not fair. I work twice
as hard as anybody at this school...Copy !req
33. and I need a perfect 4.0 to lock down
the Luthor Foundation scholarship.Copy !req
34. That grade is final, Ian,
and this conversation is over.Copy !req
35. Ian, what the hell is this?Copy !req
36. I'm calling the police!Copy !req
37. I just can't accept a C.Copy !req
38. Yes, I'm aware I'm late.Copy !req
39. Look, make my apologies to the EPA rep
and start the plant tour without me.Copy !req
40. Yes, I still plan on being in Metropolis
for the charity auction.Copy !req
41. Excuse me. I've been here
less than five minutes.Copy !req
42. Too late. I've already started
writing the ticket.Copy !req
43. I'm in a hurry, I have a headache,
I don't have time for this.Copy !req
44. Yeah, wouldn't want you to miss
your tee time.Copy !req
45. These are for a charity auction.Copy !req
46. So you'll give away a $4000-dollar
set of golf clubs...Copy !req
47. but you'll gripe over a $25
parking ticket.Copy !req
48. I'm sorry, have I done something
to offend you?Copy !req
49. It's always the rich ones
that put up a stink.Copy !req
50. Some of us actually work for a living.Copy !req
51. Watch where you park your car
in the future...Copy !req
52. Lex.Copy !req
53. Hey!Copy !req
54. Are you crazy?Copy !req
55. I employ 2500 people in this town.Copy !req
56. Who all pay taxes,
which provide your salary.Copy !req
57. Get a real job.Copy !req
58. - Here you go.
- Thank you very much.Copy !req
59. - More?
- I know. Just a couple more boxes.Copy !req
60. Thanks for letting me live with you,
Mr. Sullivan.Copy !req
61. - It really, really means a lot.
- You're welcome.Copy !req
62. In honor of the day,
I'm gonna make dinner.Copy !req
63. - Oh, hey, don't put yourself out.
- Mi casa es su casserole.Copy !req
64. - So how you feeling?
- Excited and terrified at the same time...Copy !req
65. if that makes any sense.Copy !req
66. Well, it is a big change.Copy !req
67. Huge, and not just for me.
Even though she agreed to it...Copy !req
68. Nell was kind of upset that I decided
to stay in Smallville.Copy !req
69. It's not easy when someone you love
moves away.Copy !req
70. So that looks like it's everything,
if you need to get your truck back.Copy !req
71. I lucked out. My mom called and said
she was gonna take off early...Copy !req
72. help finish up the chores.
You wanna celebrate?Copy !req
73. I wish I could, but I've gotta get changed
and take a shift at the Talon.Copy !req
74. I only have a second to grab a bite before
I need to run over to the Torch. Sorry.Copy !req
75. Well, when you two are scheduled
to take a breath, give me a call.Copy !req
76. - Will do.
- Thanks, Clark.Copy !req
77. Yeah.Copy !req
78. Bye.Copy !req
79. This is gonna be so great.Copy !req
80. Well, looks like it's just you and me,
old girl.Copy !req
81. Come on.Copy !req
82. Come on, you.Copy !req
83. Mom? Dad?Copy !req
84. Anyone home?Copy !req
85. - Clark! Clark!
- Dad.Copy !req
86. Dad?Copy !req
87. I can't move my leg.Copy !req
88. It's broken. Hold on.Copy !req
89. Oh, sorry, the door was open. I'm Ian.Copy !req
90. Randall. Yeah, I know.Copy !req
91. You practically own the library table
by the math and science shelves.Copy !req
92. Yeah, and you've staked out carrel 17,
current events.Copy !req
93. Guess we're both candidates for
the Overachievers Anonymous Club.Copy !req
94. Yeah. So, what brings you to my
stressed-out part of the world?Copy !req
95. Well, actually, I had heard that most
of the library's reference books...Copy !req
96. had migrated over to this side
of the building.Copy !req
97. Oh, right. I've been meaning
to return these...Copy !req
98. But just couldn't find the time.Copy !req
99. Exactly. Days like this,
I could really use two of me.Copy !req
100. Are you getting started early as well?Copy !req
101. No, actually, I'm planning on graduating
at the end of this school year.Copy !req
102. But you're only a sophomore.Copy !req
103. Yeah, but I've been piling
on night classes, extra-credit work.Copy !req
104. If I can land the Luthor Scholarship,
I'll be going Ivy League next year.Copy !req
105. Color me journalistically intrigued.Copy !req
106. How about an interview?Copy !req
107. Okay. All right.Copy !req
108. But take it easy on me.
Your reputation precedes you.Copy !req
109. I have a feeling I'll be able
to leave my hard-hitting reporter hat...Copy !req
110. at home this time so don't worry.Copy !req
111. Is he gonna be all right?Copy !req
112. I don't see him square-dancing
in the near term...Copy !req
113. but if he stays off the leg,
he should heal fine.Copy !req
114. - Oh, my God. Jonathan.
- Stop. Martha, I'm gonna be fine.Copy !req
115. His doctor agrees. As soon as I can find
you a pair of crutches, you're good to go.Copy !req
116. Thank you.Copy !req
117. Where've you been?
I left a message an hour ago.Copy !req
118. I was in a closed-door teleconference
between Lionel and the LuthorCorp board.Copy !req
119. - I wish you'd waited for me.
- I did wait for you. I waited over an hour.Copy !req
120. I'm sorry. I tried to call,
but the machine was on.Copy !req
121. What's done is done. I would just really
like to get out of here. Now, please?Copy !req
122. - I'll pack up your stuff.
- Okay.Copy !req
123. I'm really sorry.Copy !req
124. I know.Copy !req
125. I'm looking for a Dr. Bryce.Copy !req
126. You found her.Copy !req
127. Yes, I'm a friend of Jonathan Kent's.Copy !req
128. I've placed a call to my father's personal
orthopedist in Metropolis.Copy !req
129. Any complications, he can be flown
out here within the hour.Copy !req
130. A broken leg is nothing to sneeze at, but
there's no reason to summon the cavalry.Copy !req
131. - I just want him to get the best care.
- So do I.Copy !req
132. I've offended you.Copy !req
133. I'm second-guessed
for a living, Mr. Luthor.Copy !req
134. It comes with the territory.Copy !req
135. Lex, what's going on?Copy !req
136. Mr. Luthor and I were just discussing
the state of small-town medicine.Copy !req
137. - How's your dad?
- He's okay.Copy !req
138. It's my mom I'm worried about.
She blames herself for the accident.Copy !req
139. Well, your mom's taken on a lot
and she's trying to find a balance.Copy !req
140. Believe me, it's not always that easy.Copy !req
141. Guess I'm just lucky she didn't take
a 9-iron to a meter maid's car.Copy !req
142. - You heard about that.
- The town is called Smallville.Copy !req
143. - I was having a bad day.
- Yeah.Copy !req
144. - I can do it. I can do it.
- Thank you.Copy !req
145. Thank you. No, I'm fine.Copy !req
146. - Oh, God. All right.
- Just take it easy.Copy !req
147. So perfect attendance, straight A's and a
class load that would make Einstein crack.Copy !req
148. Forget the interview.
Let's just call Ripley's.Copy !req
149. - It's kind of intense, huh?
- That's like saying the sun is kind of hot.Copy !req
150. I think it's an only-child thing.Copy !req
151. Part of me always wants to do
twice as much...Copy !req
152. make up for the children
my parents never had.Copy !req
153. As an only myself, I understand.Copy !req
154. Though I'll never get this mad rush
to graduate.Copy !req
155. I just know there's more to life than
Smallville. And I can't wait to take it on.Copy !req
156. You and me both.Copy !req
157. You are on a deadline, right?Copy !req
158. Oh, yeah. One of the drawbacks
of actually enjoying yourself.Copy !req
159. Time flies.Copy !req
160. Well, you know, if you want,
maybe I could tag along.Copy !req
161. We could do something
when you're through.Copy !req
162. Great. Yeah, I would love that.Copy !req
163. - Hey, Chloe.
- Hi, Clark.Copy !req
164. You remember Ian, the amazing Ian.
We were just finishing up.Copy !req
165. - Yeah, I'll grab the check.
- Okay, I'll grab the car.Copy !req
166. Meet you outside in five.Copy !req
167. Ian. Frankel gave you
a pretty hard time today, huh?Copy !req
168. Yeah, well, his bark's worse
than his bite.Copy !req
169. I caught him in the hall after class,
he said I definitely nailed the A.Copy !req
170. Really? That's good for you.Copy !req
171. Thank God. I thought you'd
forgotten about our math session.Copy !req
172. That's why I'm here.Copy !req
173. With my dad out of commission,
I have to make the feed store run.Copy !req
174. Okay. Yeah, I understand.Copy !req
175. So. Simultaneous equations
giving you grief?Copy !req
176. Higher math and I don't seem
to get along very well.Copy !req
177. I suffered through algebra last term.
If you want, I can give you a few tips.Copy !req
178. Are you serious?
Because I am totally lost.Copy !req
179. Yeah. Yeah, definitely.
When's a good time?Copy !req
180. I'm off in 10 minutes.Copy !req
181. Great.Copy !req
182. - I'll be right back.
- Okay, thanks.Copy !req
183. You okay, Clark?Copy !req
184. Yep.Copy !req
185. - I'd better go.
- All right.Copy !req
186. Hey, Ian. Hop in.Copy !req
187. - Come on.
- Oh, great car.Copy !req
188. - Thanks for the ride.
- No problem.Copy !req
189. - Thanks, Ian. You're a lifesaver.
- Trust me. There's no place I'd rather be.Copy !req
190. Dad, aren't you supposed to be
taking it easy?Copy !req
191. I am taking it easy.
I slept in till 6, didn't I?Copy !req
192. Besides, I've gotta go out
and feed and water the cattle.Copy !req
193. Done.Copy !req
194. Really?Copy !req
195. - Well, did you clean out the...
- Chicken coop?Copy !req
196. Dad, I took care of it, don't worry.Copy !req
197. Good morning.Copy !req
198. Mom, you're not dressed for work.Copy !req
199. I thought I would stay home today.
Just until things settle down.Copy !req
200. Sweetheart, I don't want my accident
to disrupt this whole family.Copy !req
201. Dad, the couch is over there.Copy !req
202. Clark, believe me.
I can take it just as easy...Copy !req
203. greasing the bearings on the tractor out
in the barn as I can sitting on that couch.Copy !req
204. Mom, you can't blame yourself
for Dad's accident.Copy !req
205. This farm is supposed
to be a partnership.Copy !req
206. But ever since I've been
working with Lionel...Copy !req
207. I haven't been able to do my share.Copy !req
208. You took that job to help the farm.Copy !req
209. No one expects you to be in two places
at once.Copy !req
210. No, but I should try to be
where I'm needed.Copy !req
211. How's that for weird? Frankel's
never even missed a class before.Copy !req
212. Looks like the metal-shop impaired
caught a break today.Copy !req
213. I'm glad you scoped out my grade.Copy !req
214. Hey, check out Lana's new study buddy.Copy !req
215. Yeah.Copy !req
216. Do I detect a hint of the J-word?Copy !req
217. - No, Lana and I are just friends.
- Right.Copy !req
218. Thanks. I really appreciate this, Lana.Copy !req
219. Your peer recommendation's gonna carry
a lot of weight with Lex Luthor.Copy !req
220. Anyone who can help me
with double-angle functions...Copy !req
221. deserves a scholarship.Copy !req
222. Well, I'll talk to you later. Page me.Copy !req
223. Looks like the study date went well.Copy !req
224. Yeah, Ian showed me this great shortcut
and after that, the study part was over.Copy !req
225. Ian’s really intense.
You know, in a good way.Copy !req
226. We're getting together again tonight.Copy !req
227. - More studying?
- Actually, we're gonna go see a movie.Copy !req
228. - What does Chloe think?
- What do you mean?Copy !req
229. You saw her and Ian
at the Talon last night.Copy !req
230. - Yeah, they were doing an interview.
- No...Copy !req
231. they were gonna go on a date.Copy !req
232. He bailed on her to help you
with your algebra homework.Copy !req
233. Chloe and I were unpacking for an hour
last night, she didn't say a word.Copy !req
234. Lana, I swear, they...Copy !req
235. Listen, this move's been tough enough.
And Chloe and her dad have been great.Copy !req
236. So please, if you don't have any facts,
just stay out of it.Copy !req
237. Dr. Bryce?Copy !req
238. Mr. Luthor.Copy !req
239. - Like your nametag.
- It's my secret identity. Don't tell anyone.Copy !req
240. Gotta admit, you are the last person
I expected to see here today.Copy !req
241. - What are you here for?
- I drop-kicked an orderly.Copy !req
242. I have a violent reaction
to incompetence.Copy !req
243. Drop-kick must have caught him
off guard.Copy !req
244. So, what'd you do?
Verbally demean your butler?Copy !req
245. Cute. I took a 9-iron
to a meter maid's car.Copy !req
246. Now I'm really jealous. I've always
wanted to do that. How'd it feel?Copy !req
247. Great.Copy !req
248. Word of advice,
keep that to yourself in here.Copy !req
249. Wanna get together after class?
Grab something...Copy !req
250. No.Copy !req
251. - Got a thing about dating classmates?
- No, I've got a thing about dating you.Copy !req
252. Why?Copy !req
253. You don't remember me, do you?Copy !req
254. If everyone could please
take their seats...Copy !req
255. - Chloe?
- Yeah.Copy !req
256. - Got a second?
- Sure.Copy !req
257. "Primed to graduate two years early,
Ian Randall is a true academic superstar."Copy !req
258. Well, so much for
journalistic detachment.Copy !req
259. Believe it or not, not every story
has to be Wall of Weird material.Copy !req
260. Why am I defending myself?Copy !req
261. Do you like him?Copy !req
262. I don't not like him.
What is this about, Clark?Copy !req
263. Nothing, I just want you to be careful.Copy !req
264. Why?Copy !req
265. Look, I probably shouldn't
say anything...Copy !req
266. but I saw him and Lana in the hallway
and they seemed pretty close.Copy !req
267. Oh, I get it.Copy !req
268. You just wanna make sure that poor
little Chloe doesn't get burned. Again.Copy !req
269. - No. Chloe...
- You know what, Clark?Copy !req
270. Not that it matters, but Ian already
told me Lana was kind of into him...Copy !req
271. but he'd rather be with me.Copy !req
272. He asked me to keep it a secret because
he doesn't wanna hurt her feelings.Copy !req
273. And you believe that?Copy !req
274. You really can't imagine that someone
would choose me over Lana, can you?Copy !req
275. Chloe, wait...Copy !req
276. Ian, we need to talk.Copy !req
277. - Later, Clark, I'm busy.
- Now. It's about Chloe and Lana.Copy !req
278. I know you're playing them
off each other.Copy !req
279. Must have learned from the master.Copy !req
280. What does that mean?Copy !req
281. Chloe told me how you dumped her
the day after spring formal.Copy !req
282. And Lana said you send off so many
mixed signals you could scramble a radar.Copy !req
283. Maybe they'd rather be with a guy
who's going someplace.Copy !req
284. You know, after I get my scholarship,
I am out of this hick town.Copy !req
285. So you don't care about them at all,
do you?Copy !req
286. You're using them
to get your scholarship.Copy !req
287. Chloe writes you the big article and
Lana gives you the fast track to Lex.Copy !req
288. I never said that.Copy !req
289. Why don't you just admit it.Copy !req
290. The two girls who used to like you
now like me and you're jealous.Copy !req
291. It's gonna be hard to keep your 4.0
when Frankel gave you a C.Copy !req
292. I never saw any grades posted.Copy !req
293. It's pretty weird, Frankel takes
the day off. Lucky break for you.Copy !req
294. You trying to say something?Copy !req
295. Guy took a sick day.Copy !req
296. Stay out of my life, Kent.Copy !req
297. Clark, for the record, this is messed up.
Mr. Frankel's sick.Copy !req
298. I checked with Principal Reynolds' office.
He didn't call in sick. He didn't call at all.Copy !req
299. This is the last place anyone
saw Frankel. I just wanna look around.Copy !req
300. You wanna look around,
we'll look around.Copy !req
301. But I don't know what
you think we'll find.Copy !req
302. Gonna have a little look around.
There.Copy !req
303. - Just take a look.
- I'm looking around.Copy !req
304. You happy? We looked around.
There's nothing here.Copy !req
305. What are you doing here?Copy !req
306. What's it look like?Copy !req
307. Chloe, he just tried to kill me and Pete.Copy !req
308. And I think he murdered Frankel.Copy !req
309. What is this, a joke?Copy !req
310. Yeah, Clark. When did this
deadly encounter occur?Copy !req
311. Twenty minutes ago. I came right over.Copy !req
312. - Okay, stop, that's impossible.
- Why?Copy !req
313. Because I've been here for the last
three hours, Clark.Copy !req
314. Lana, have you seen Chloe?Copy !req
315. She's at the sheriff station
giving her statement.Copy !req
316. I don't remember ordering
a side of hostility.Copy !req
317. I can't believe you accused Ian
of murdering Mr. Frankel.Copy !req
318. Lana, you have to believe me.Copy !req
319. I don't know how he did it,
but he's lying to everyone.Copy !req
320. A boy with secrets. I'm surprised
you're not fast friends.Copy !req
321. Don't try to turn this around on me.Copy !req
322. He's seeing you and Chloe both.
He was at her house, she's his alibi.Copy !req
323. Clark, they were finishing up
an interview.Copy !req
324. Does Chloe always finish up
her interviews...Copy !req
325. by making out with her subjects?Copy !req
326. Ian told me that Chloe had a little
crush on him but it wasn't serious.Copy !req
327. And he told you not to say anything
to Chloe about it, didn't he?Copy !req
328. Lana, he said the same thing
to Chloe about you.Copy !req
329. If this is all because I enjoy spending time
with Ian, then you are way overreacting.Copy !req
330. I'd say you were jealous.Copy !req
331. No, Lana, I'm trying to be your friend.Copy !req
332. Look, you gotta ask yourself...Copy !req
333. what kind of person asks the two
people he cares about to lie for him?Copy !req
334. Metropolis General. I was drunk,
puking my guts out in the ER.Copy !req
335. You were the first-year med student
assigned to sober me up.Copy !req
336. It's a night I'll never forget either.Copy !req
337. - Guess I owe you a belated thank-you.
- Actually, I should be thanking you.Copy !req
338. It's cases like yours that convinced me
to leave Metropolis.Copy !req
339. I'm flattered I turned you from nose jobs
and liposuction to small-town medicine.Copy !req
340. Your father is Stanley Bryce, right?Copy !req
341. Plastic surgeon to the Metropolis
rich and famous?Copy !req
342. Somebody's been doing his homework.Copy !req
343. You intrigue me, Helen.Copy !req
344. Suddenly we're on
a first-name basis, Lex?Copy !req
345. Don't worry, I won't give up
your secret identity.Copy !req
346. For the record,
I refused to join my father's practice...Copy !req
347. and we stopped speaking.Copy !req
348. They hate when you do that.Copy !req
349. Sounds like you speak from experience.Copy !req
350. You witnessed my
self-destructive phase.Copy !req
351. Then I almost let my father die. Now I'm
just trying to beat him at his own game.Copy !req
352. - How's that going?
- I terrorize meter maids.Copy !req
353. Yeah. I drop-kick orderlies. It's funny,
I was never an angry child.Copy !req
354. I'll see you in class.Copy !req
355. I'm off in 10 minutes.Copy !req
356. If you wanted to go do something.Copy !req
357. Clark, I got your 911.
I assume we're back on the Ian trail?Copy !req
358. I got Ian’s scholarship information
from Lex.Copy !req
359. He was taking classes
at Smallville Community College...Copy !req
360. at the exact same time he was
at Smallville High.Copy !req
361. Any idea how an only child can make like
the Olsen twins?Copy !req
362. "How" isn't important.Copy !req
363. I wanna make sure we're right
before throwing around charges.Copy !req
364. Yeah, well, I wouldn't look for much
help in our Lana and Chloe department.Copy !req
365. Maybe I can. Doesn't Ian carry a pager?Copy !req
366. - Hey, Ian.
- Mr. Sullivan, hi.Copy !req
367. - Is Chloe here?
- No, I'm afraid she's not home.Copy !req
368. I don't understand. She paged me
to meet her here at 5:30.Copy !req
369. Must be some kind of mix-up.Copy !req
370. Last I heard,
she was working late at the Torch.Copy !req
371. - Okay, thanks.
- All right.Copy !req
372. - Hey, Pete, have you seen Lana?
- Not for a while. Why?Copy !req
373. Well, she paged me, said she wanted
to get together at 5:30.Copy !req
374. What can I say?
Something must have come up.Copy !req
375. Clark, Mr. Punctual made his appearance
at exactly 5:30.Copy !req
376. Which means we're definitely
seeing double.Copy !req
377. Thanks, Pete. I'll call Chloe.Copy !req
378. God, Clark. Give it a rest.Copy !req
379. Hey, Ian, I will be with you
in just one second.Copy !req
380. Lana, hi. Would you...Copy !req
381. I thought that you were going home
after your shift was over.Copy !req
382. We need to talk.Copy !req
383. Okay, sure. About what?Copy !req
384. About Ian.Copy !req
385. He's... Actually, he's stopping by
to look over his article.Copy !req
386. Is that why you're wearing
a new blouse?Copy !req
387. Okay, this just got incredibly awkward.Copy !req
388. Clark came by the Talon.
I know about you and Ian.Copy !req
389. For a guy so concerned with privacy,
he can't seem to keep his mouth shut.Copy !req
390. This isn't about Clark. It's about us.Copy !req
391. I hated keeping it from you...Copy !req
392. but I really like Ian
and I didn't wanna hurt your feelings.Copy !req
393. I don't wanna hurt your feelings either.
But I was out with Ian last night too.Copy !req
394. Making me 0 for 2 in the "they always
go for Lana" sweepstakes.Copy !req
395. Chloe, he's playing us both.Copy !req
396. And I should have been honest
with you up front.Copy !req
397. Me too.Copy !req
398. Hey.Copy !req
399. Ian. What are you doing here?Copy !req
400. Well, I was looking for you.
Both of you, actually.Copy !req
401. The two-for-one special?
Ian, we know.Copy !req
402. Well, can you blame me?Copy !req
403. I mean, I enjoyed being with the two
smartest, prettiest girls in school.Copy !req
404. Together, you're almost my equal.Copy !req
405. I don't believe this.
Clark tried to warn us about you.Copy !req
406. Kent.Copy !req
407. Is that why you paged me
at the same time?Copy !req
408. What are you talking about?
I never paged you.Copy !req
409. Ian, what are you doing?Copy !req
410. Securing my future.Copy !req
411. Your futures, on the other hand,
don't look so bright.Copy !req
412. Hey, girls. How about a double date?Copy !req
413. Chloe! Lana!Copy !req
414. Chloe!
Clark, check this out.Copy !req
415. "We've both been deceiving ourselves
over Ian."Copy !req
416. "Now the pain's too much. We've gone
to the dam to end our suffering."Copy !req
417. Sounds like a suicide note.Copy !req
418. Ian wanted me to see that.Copy !req
419. He's gonna kill them to get to me.Copy !req
420. - Ian, don't. Please.
- I'm not gonna let you ruin my life.Copy !req
421. - Ian, you need help.
- That's what I'm doing. Helping myself.Copy !req
422. No!Copy !req
423. Chloe!Copy !req
424. - Hey, give me a hand here!
- Be there in a sec.Copy !req
425. Come on.Copy !req
426. Clark!Copy !req
427. You okay?Copy !req
428. You sure?Copy !req
429. Clark, any word on Lana and Chloe?Copy !req
430. They're shaken up, but okay.Copy !req
431. They didn't see you use your abilities?Copy !req
432. I think they were a little preoccupied
with the idea of two Ians.Copy !req
433. I thought we were done with bills
this month.Copy !req
434. We were, but I thought
I'd take another look...Copy !req
435. and see if we could get along
without my extra paycheck.Copy !req
436. I've been thinking that I've been trying
to do too many things.Copy !req
437. - I really should stay on the farm.
- Look...Copy !req
438. I was not angry because
you weren't here.Copy !req
439. But I'm not gonna lie to you.Copy !req
440. Ever since you took this job...Copy !req
441. things have been different between
you and me.Copy !req
442. I don't want you to quit.Copy !req
443. But you've gotta know that
it seems to me like sometimes...Copy !req
444. the Luthors take top priority.Copy !req
445. I guess I've just gotta work through that.Copy !req
446. I really like what
I'm doing, Jonathan...Copy !req
447. but you and Clark will always
come first. You know that.Copy !req
448. Yeah.Copy !req
449. - Hey, Lana.
- Oh, hey.Copy !req
450. - How you feeling?
- Still a little freaked.Copy !req
451. Kind of stupid.Copy !req
452. Ditto. What really gets me is
I should have known better.Copy !req
453. Only Chloe Sullivan could fall for a guy
who splits himself in two.Copy !req
454. I don't know. What is it about me?Copy !req
455. Do I have a sign around my neck
that says "mutant magnet"?Copy !req
456. He fooled me too, Chloe.Copy !req
457. So much for our taste in guys.Copy !req
458. It only went as far as it did because we
weren't being honest with each other.Copy !req
459. - So no more secrets, okay?
- Okay.Copy !req
460. I'm gonna finish the laundry because
I'm cooking dinner tonight.Copy !req
461. - Lana, you don't have to do that.
- Oh, I don't mind.Copy !req
462. You're not a glorified guest.
This is your house too...Copy !req
463. and we're not gonna kick you out
if there's evidence you actually live here.Copy !req
464. I guess after my parents and Nell,
I've got a few abandonment issues.Copy !req
465. I went through the same thing
when my mom walked out.Copy !req
466. I was afraid my dad was
gonna leave too.Copy !req
467. But he sat me down and said I didn't have
to earn the right to be part of this family.Copy !req
468. Neither do you.Copy !req
469. - Thanks, Chloe.
- Sure. Now, let's go over the house rules.Copy !req
470. Okay, and they are?Copy !req
471. One, do not make your bed
until after 5 p.m.Copy !req
472. Two, don't touch the dishes in the sink
until it's overflowing.Copy !req
473. And three, contrary to my dad's
protestations...Copy !req
474. your bedroom floor
is definitely a closet.Copy !req
475. - Okay.
- Okay?Copy !req
476. Got your message.
Is everything all right?Copy !req
477. We've been up all night talking.Copy !req
478. And you were the number-one topic
of discussion.Copy !req
479. This can't be good.Copy !req
480. Actually, we wanted to apologize to you
for the way we've been treating you.Copy !req
481. Even though you did technically
use us as bait.Copy !req
482. I didn't count on it
getting out of control.Copy !req
483. The point is, you warned us about Ian
and we didn't listen.Copy !req
484. Yeah, you thought I was jealous.Copy !req
485. There's a lot of water under the bridge
between us, Clark.Copy !req
486. I know you each have issues with me,
but you have to understand that...Copy !req
487. I would never let anyone hurt you.Copy !req
488. We know that, Clark.Copy !req
489. I find it interesting you gave
Ian all the latitude in the world...Copy !req
490. and I would just be
immediately dismissed.Copy !req
491. After all the times you've been
less than honest...Copy !req
492. can you really blame us
for having some doubts?Copy !req
493. You want honesty?Copy !req
494. The truth is that I expected more
from both of you.Copy !req
495. And we expected more from you.Copy !req
496. We made a mistake.
But it was ours to make.Copy !req
497. So, what do we do now?Copy !req
498. Well, first we can stop treating me
like the jealous boyfriend.Copy !req
499. Since none of us have actually dated.Copy !req
500. If you wanna be friends, let's be friends.Copy !req
501. Is that what you really want?Copy !req
502. Yeah, it is.Copy !req
503. Good night.Copy !req
