450. My dad, he had been battling cancer for about five years,

453. went into the hospital,

454. and two days before the cast for Season 9 got announced,

455. he passed away.

456. And, um...

457. It was really tough.

458. Because my dream for RuPaul's Drag Race

459. was wrapped in the idea of him getting to watch and see me,

460. because I know he would have been proud.

461. And for me, the imagery

462. of having this Christian, military, Black father

463. sitting in that audience rooting for his son

464. was all I'd ever wanted.

465. When I felt like I was coming to terms with that,

466. a month later to the day

467. my oldest sister passed away from breast cancer.

468. And she was the one

469. that showed me Supermodel Of The World.

470. Her and I used to strut around that living room.

471. - Your soul sister. - Yeah.

472. She encouraged me to be the person that I am today,

473. and I felt really lost,

474. because I felt like

475. my two biggest cheerleaders were now gone.

476. Though I miss them both every single day,

477. I feel them with me.

478. My dad is half of who I am.

479. I carry him with me everywhere I go,

480. and I know that he's proud of me.

503. but my two sisters were put into foster homes.

506. We disconnected for about five years,

507. and then got back together.

508. So how have you created family in your adult life?

509. I've had to let go of a lot of the people in my past,

510. because it wasn't healthy for me.

511. So most of my friends now

512. are my friends that I meet at my meetings,

513. because we share the same spirituality.

514. - We're all broken inside. - Yeah.

515. But we're working on becoming better human beings.

516. A couple years ago,

517. I made some decisions that would affect my life.

518. I broke up with my fiancée of 12 years,

519. and I also made a conscious decision

520. to stop using drugs and drinking.

521. And that has been very impactful for me

522. not only as a human being, but as a drag queen.

523. I'm not completely found,

524. but I'm not as lost as I used to be.
