1665. at a benefit concert in Nashville

1666. called Love Rising,

1667. which helped fund organizations

1668. that help fight for our rights as LGBTQ people.

1669. And I'm very thankful for what she has done

1672. to voice out her opinion,

1673. and I really appreciate that about her.

1674. And you live in Nashville. What's the climate there like?

1675. It's-it's scary.

1676. I feel like I don't feel safe just driving to work in drag.

1677. I'm worried about my safety at my own bar.

1678. It's really disheartening and sad to see

1679. the progress that we have made as a community

1680. just being pulled back so easily.

1681. Robin, I understand you hosted an event

1682. at Yale University.

1683. I was the first drag queen to speak at Yale Law.

1684. It was a very important protest for them,

1685. because a lot of the lawmakers

1686. that are having laws put against us

1687. in the queer community have studied and graduated

1688. from Yale Law.

1689. So I stopped by. I did a Drag Queen Story Hour

1690. where I'm reading a children's book to grown-ass adults.

1691. But it was fully in protest

1692. to all of these heinous, hateful laws coming into place.

1693. I love that. I love it.

1694. Now, all you girls are touring the country right now.

1695. What is the climate out there?

1696. I actually was booked in Nashville,

1697. and I can honestly say

1698. I was, like, super nervous and scared.

1699. 'Cause we know when certain things like bills get passed,

1700. like, it causes a uproar.

1701. People have very, like, strong opinions and strong views,

1702. and I didn't know if they would come to the club,

1703. when what we do is out of love.

1704. But I think it's also important to mention

1705. that a lot of these bills are secretly—

1706. or not so secretly— meant to target

1707. trans men and women who aren't drag performers

1708. who just wanna live their lives.

1709. We are not the only ones that these bills are targeting.

1711. drag queen, I feel like the legislation right now

1712. is particularly zoned in on people like me.

1713. And I feel nervous traveling.

1714. Like, what if, when I go into the airport bathroom,

1715. and someone recognizes me that is not a fan

1716. and wants to call the police because

1717. I'm in their bathroom?

1718. It's really the other side showing their cards

1719. and knowing that we have displayed so much power

1720. and unity in the past few years

1721. that they need to just throw anything at the wall

1722. and see what sticks. - Right.

1723. Because we are now more out and proud,

1724. those small minorities are very loud,

1725. so it's just so important for all of us,

1726. no matter where we are, to speak up

1727. and protest in whatever little way is possible.

1728. And it means we're doing something right

1731. We are shining so bright that they are so nervous

1732. that they wanna take away everything.

1734. if you're gay, drag, trans— all of it's the same to them.

1738. and so they're lashing out at us
