324. is really what I feel has grown during this experience.

326. I've learned to communicate more with people,

327. and warm up to people, and let them warm up to me.

457. you've had some real adversity.

459. How were you able to overcome that in your personal life?

460. - You know, there's something that happens

461. when you lose your parents at an early age.

462. - How old were you? - I was 27.

464. - At the same time. - Same year.

465. My mother passed in January and my father passed in July.

466. Being forced into that situation so early in life,

467. it provides for you a situation

468. where mentally, spiritually, emotionally, financially,

469. you have to depend on yourself because that's all you have.

470. But I think the beauty that came out of that for me

471. was I became hyper-sensitive to family connection

472. with people that I'm not related to.

473. - So you're creating family outside of your blood family.

474. - Yes.

475. - At what point did you have this breakthrough moment

476. in this competition?

477. - Actually it was when you were doing a walkthrough with me,

478. and you looked me squarely in the face,

479. and you said, remember who you are.

480. And I don't have any tattoos or piercings,

481. but that was the first phrase

482. that I ever ran across in my life

483. that I felt like

484. I could look at this on my body for the rest of my life.

485. And, you know, in that moment, you looked at me,

486. and it was more about the silence after you said it

487. where I felt like you were speaking to me

488. in so many different layers and levels,

489. and you knew everything about me,

490. both in and out of drag.

491. And now every decision I make,

492. both in my personal life and in drag since that moment

493. revolves around the statement remember who you are.

494. And that has opened up doors for me

495. to do what I do best and do it very well.
