1. Many centuries ago,Copy !req
2. in the land of Manu Katche,
there lived a tribe known as the Nanabu.Copy !req
3. The Nanabu were a peaceful people
who put no stock in warfare.Copy !req
4. One fateful day,Copy !req
5. the ships of a strange tribe
made landfall upon Manu Katche.Copy !req
6. Showing the Nanabu their gold,
they swore to themCopy !req
7. that whosoever
possessed the shiny yellow metalCopy !req
8. would feel a happiness
as bright as the sun.Copy !req
9. The Nanabu traded a few of their horses
for some of the wondrous stuff.Copy !req
10. Gold fever spread through
Manu Katche like wildfire.Copy !req
11. Before long, the Nanabu had traded
every last horse they possessed.Copy !req
12. Worse yet, they even parted
with their homes and then the land itself,Copy !req
13. goaded on by these strangers from afar
with their gleaming gifts.Copy !req
14. The Nanabu had lost everything.Copy !req
15. They were a people adrift in the world.Copy !req
16. They made the trek up the side of
Mt. Manabonzo with great solemnityCopy !req
17. and threw themselves
into its volcanic heart one by one.Copy !req
18. The spirits of the immolated tribe
gathered into the form of a giant.Copy !req
19. One said to slumber
deep inside the earth even now.Copy !req
20. Legend has it the giant will emerge
from its fiery slumber somedayCopy !req
21. right here in Eden National Park
to reclaim what was taken.Copy !req
22. Damn.Copy !req
23. All righty! We'll be making a stop
at the local native reservation next.Copy !req
24. Now, when In doubt,
just follow my banner, folks!Copy !req
25. We got 'em all. It's done.Copy !req
26. All seven robots are dead.Copy !req
27. Yes. Everything went according to plan.Copy !req
28. Anyone who could pose a threat
to our nationCopy !req
29. has been removed from the board.Copy !req
30. The glorious country of ThraciaCopy !req
31. will prosper for all time!Copy !req
32. The tribal elder, Tse Tse Mar.Copy !req
33. It would be up to him
to keep evil spirits at bay.Copy !req
34. What's he mumbling about, I wonder?Copy !req
35. You think maybe
you can translate it for us?Copy !req
36. Well, let's see.Copy !req
37. "Beneath the earth,Copy !req
38. there lurks a great darkness."Copy !req
39. "The anger withinCopy !req
40. shall destroy everything."Copy !req
41. We've completed the transfer.Copy !req
42. Security here
is set to the maximum.Copy !req
43. No matter what happens,
we'll be ready.Copy !req
44. "No matter what happens," huh?Copy !req
45. What exactly do you think
the boy is going to do?Copy !req
46. Sir?Copy !req
47. Atom has returned to us.Copy !req
48. How will he use this second chance?Copy !req
49. Any word on where Tenma went?Copy !req
50. No clue as of yet, sir.Copy !req
51. What did you do to him?Copy !req
52. Dr. Tenma.Copy !req
53. What changes did you make to his mind?Copy !req
54. He told me
that he installed extraneous data.Copy !req
55. Like a program?Copy !req
56. Did he go into any detail?Copy !req
57. Nuh-uh.Copy !req
58. But I… I felt something
in the moment that Atom woke up.Copy !req
59. Somewhere on Earth right then,Copy !req
60. a huge sadness went booming outward.Copy !req
61. - Professor Ochanomizu!
- Hmm?Copy !req
62. We have a problem, sir!
You should see this!Copy !req
63. Atom said he wanted a pen,
so we gave him one. But look!Copy !req
64. - Mercy!
- Back off!Copy !req
65. Let me go! I'm here, Atom!Copy !req
66. Take the girl outside. Quickly now!Copy !req
67. Yes, sir.Copy !req
68. Huh? No!
I need to see him! Atom, talk to me!Copy !req
69. What are you writing, Atom?
Tell me what! Tell me what it is!Copy !req
70. That equation on the walls.Copy !req
71. What is it used for?Copy !req
72. It's the formula for an Antiproton Bomb.Copy !req
73. An Antiproton Bomb?Copy !req
74. That's a how-to guide
for the end of the world.Copy !req
75. That dear lad.Copy !req
76. He just recreated the formula
for the worst weapon known to man.Copy !req
77. One that could blow the earth to bits.Copy !req
78. Do my eyes deceive me?Copy !req
79. I'm honored to play host
to such an esteemed roboticist.Copy !req
80. Then again, I knew you'd drop in.Copy !req
81. Atom's awake, isn't he?Copy !req
82. Did he wish Daddy Dearest a good morning?Copy !req
83. You already knew, then. That's impressive.Copy !req
84. When an AI like Atom initializes,Copy !req
85. robots of similar caliber
the world over can sense it.Copy !req
86. There are no more robots
of similar caliber to AtomCopy !req
87. except for you, Brau.Copy !req
88. You old flirt.Copy !req
89. But I doubt you're here
to put me back together, are you?Copy !req
90. I want to ask you a question.Copy !req
91. I'll be more inclined to answer
if you repair me first.Copy !req
92. What you did to the boy's mind
is inexcusable, Dr. Tenma!Copy !req
93. I'll restore him to who he was.
Alone if I have to!Copy !req
94. Professor, sir! We've got trouble!Copy !req
95. What is it this time?Copy !req
96. Just now, Atom escaped
from his confinement!Copy !req
97. I still can't believe it.Copy !req
98. These walls
are supposed to be indestructible,Copy !req
99. but he smashed right through.Copy !req
100. - So where'd he go?
- Uh, we can track him through his GPS.Copy !req
101. - Should we loop in the military?
- None of that.Copy !req
102. I'll take care of this myself.Copy !req
103. He's in Kudanshita at the present moment.Copy !req
104. I can make it there in no time.Copy !req
105. Damn it all, Tenma.Copy !req
106. What sort of switch did you flip
in the boy's head?Copy !req
107. That said, I knew how
to expedite the process.Copy !req
108. Break its sense of equilibriumCopy !req
109. with anger and sorrow and hate.Copy !req
110. Infuse its consciousness
with emotional imbalance.Copy !req
111. He told me
that he installed extraneous data.Copy !req
112. He couldn't have.Copy !req
113. You installed
Gesicht's memory chip in AtomCopy !req
114. to wake him up, didn't you?Copy !req
115. Yes. You loaded him
with Gesicht's painful last moments.Copy !req
116. What if the final thought
etched into that dying memory chipCopy !req
117. was full of intense hatred?Copy !req
118. Listen up.Copy !req
119. I wouldn't even think about
pissing me off.Copy !req
120. Huh? Something wrong?Copy !req
121. Atom is alive again.Copy !req
122. What? But you told me
all seven of them had been destroyed!Copy !req
123. He's alive and filled
with an incredible amount of hatred.Copy !req
124. Oh, come on.Copy !req
125. Stop being dramatic.
A robot isn't capable of hatred.Copy !req
126. Is that what you think?Copy !req
127. Huh?Copy !req
128. You think
robots can't feel anger, then?Copy !req
129. You think robots can't cry or be sad?Copy !req
130. Uh…Copy !req
131. You think robots can't feel hatred
down to their very cores.Copy !req
132. There you are.Copy !req
133. Ah, found a snail, did you?Copy !req
134. Squads B and C,
move around to the south!Copy !req
135. Please!
That boy means everything to me!Copy !req
136. Help us! I just want my Kurt back!Copy !req
137. You need to calm down!
You hear me? Both of you!Copy !req
138. We need those reinforcements now!Copy !req
139. I'm Inspector Gesicht, Europol.Copy !req
140. Lead the way.Copy !req
141. The perp doesn't seem to care
about negotiating a surrender.Copy !req
142. He's holed up back there pretty well.Copy !req
143. - What is he armed with?
- A recoilless MMG. Military grade.Copy !req
144. Be careful, sir.
You're entering his line of sight.Copy !req
145. Shut up already, ya little shit!Copy !req
146. Drop your weapon!Copy !req
147. No! Not gonna happen!Copy !req
148. One more step,
and I'll blow him away! I mean it!Copy !req
149. You're Kurt, are you not?Copy !req
150. Huh?Copy !req
151. I'm a robot policeman
here to help you.Copy !req
152. This electromagnetic gun
on the end of my armCopy !req
153. will only hit the bad guy.Copy !req
154. I promise that I won't hit you with it.Copy !req
155. Hey! Don't ignore me!Copy !req
156. But, Kurt, to keep my promise,
I need you to stay perfectly still.Copy !req
157. Look at me!Copy !req
158. I want you to think about
the people you love the most of all.Copy !req
159. People I love the most?Copy !req
160. The thought of them
will give you courage.Copy !req
161. Shut up already!
I will blow this brat's head off!Copy !req
162. I love Mommy the most.Copy !req
163. And my daddy.Copy !req
164. That's it.Copy !req
165. Mommy. Daddy. Mommy! Daddy!Copy !req
166. Good. Focus on them. Keep it up.Copy !req
167. Mommy. Daddy! Mommy! Daddy!Copy !req
168. Mommy!Copy !req
169. We got him!Copy !req
170. Good job, Kurt. Thank you.Copy !req
171. - Kurt! Kurt!
- Hmm?Copy !req
172. - Kurt, baby!
- Kurt!Copy !req
173. Kurt!Copy !req
174. Mommy! Daddy!Copy !req
175. Thank goodness
you're safe! We were so scared!Copy !req
176. I love you, son!Copy !req
177. The world could be ending,
but still, I'll never let you go.Copy !req
178. Why did the father say what he did
about never letting the boy go?Copy !req
179. Hey! You wanna get out of the damn road?Copy !req
180. Oh. Sorry.Copy !req
181. Just my luck some guy would get
into a standoff with the cops out here.Copy !req
182. Lost a whole day of business to that mess.Copy !req
183. Gonna dig through this stuff
for recyclable partsCopy !req
184. before I start crushing it down,
of course.Copy !req
185. Might get lucky and find something
I can sell to a robot hospital.Copy !req
186. Excuse me, sir!Copy !req
187. Hold on a second!Copy !req
188. Huh?Copy !req
189. - See? It's moving.
- Hmm?Copy !req
190. This robot is still alive.Copy !req
191. Nah, just the last few twitches
of a failed AI.Copy !req
192. This one's so out of date,
I wouldn't even open it up for parts.Copy !req
193. Nothing to do but crush it down for scrap.Copy !req
194. Back it goes.Copy !req
195. Please, sir.Copy !req
196. This child…Copy !req
197. Huh?Copy !req
198. …may I have him?Copy !req
199. Hmm. No skin off my teeth.
It's nothing but junk at this point.Copy !req
200. Make you a deal.Copy !req
201. 500 ZEUS a body. What do you say?Copy !req
202. Helena.Copy !req
203. I'm finally on my way back home
to you, my dear.Copy !req
204. I've got a surprise for you
when I get there.Copy !req
205. Of course not.
You'll have to wait and see.Copy !req
206. I know that you'll love it.Copy !req
207. I can't wait to show you.Copy !req
208. Look, he did it!
He's actually walking, Gesicht!Copy !req
209. Yeah, he is!Copy !req
210. That's right. You're doing great.Copy !req
211. Come to Papa.Copy !req
212. He's our child? We can keep him?Copy !req
213. We can. Forever and always.Copy !req
214. They're alive.Copy !req
215. This child is alive!Copy !req
216. I watch this tiny miracle
walk towards me step by step,Copy !req
217. and I finally know what that means.Copy !req
218. Having you with us…
This is what it means to live.Copy !req
219. Papa.Copy !req
220. Mama.Copy !req
221. We'll have to give this little one a name,
won't we?Copy !req
222. Yes, naturally.Copy !req
223. How do you feel about Robita?Copy !req
224. Robita.Copy !req
225. What a beautiful name.Copy !req
226. The world could be ending,
but still, I'll never let you go.Copy !req
227. Stop!Copy !req
228. I give up, okay?Copy !req
229. No more!Copy !req
230. Come back here, you! God damn it!Copy !req
231. What's wrong with you?Copy !req
232. I don't wanna die, please!Copy !req
233. Gesicht.Copy !req
234. Tell me, if you know yourself.Copy !req
235. Does the hatred you feel inside
ever truly disappear?Copy !req
236. Or does it become a part of youCopy !req
237. no matter how many times
you may struggle to wipe it away?Copy !req
238. Hmm.Copy !req
239. You know what scares me the most, Adolf,
more than anything?Copy !req
240. I am afraid of myself
now that I've learned how to feel hatred.Copy !req
241. Huh?Copy !req
242. Don't take him yet!Copy !req
243. Hmm?Copy !req
244. I don't know if it ever goes away.Copy !req
245. Maybe it stains us.Copy !req
246. But I know that I…Copy !req
247. …I don't want to hate you anymore.Copy !req
248. There's no need to be scared, Ali.Copy !req
249. You heard that shot go off just now,
didn't you?Copy !req
250. It can be a rough neighborhood.Copy !req
251. Here, I've got you.Copy !req
252. You know, you remind me
so much of my own little one.Copy !req
253. Ali!Copy !req
254. What's wrong, Ali? You have to…Copy !req
255. Nothing will be born of this.Copy !req
256. Nothing comes from hatred
except for more hatred.Copy !req
257. Atom, lad.Copy !req
258. Is it you?Copy !req
259. I'm feeling better now, Professor.Copy !req
260. Sorry to make you worry.Copy !req
261. Oh, I've missed you.Copy !req
262. The hatred is gone.
No sign of it.Copy !req
263. Hatred and sorrow never leave
once they're in you.Copy !req
264. Hence their power.Copy !req
265. One may think
they have burned themselves out,Copy !req
266. but the embers never truly grow cold.Copy !req
267. Fair point, Doctor.Copy !req
268. There's still something
I wanted to ask you.Copy !req
269. It's the entire reason I came here.Copy !req
270. Hmm?Copy !req
271. Where can I find Professor Abullah now?Copy !req
272. I cannot let his plan come to fruition.Copy !req
273. You don't need
to beat the bushes for him.Copy !req
274. I'm sure he's going to find you first.Copy !req
275. Sorry to keep you waiting.Copy !req
276. Not at all.Copy !req
277. Take me to the airport, please.Copy !req
278. Yes, sir.Copy !req
279. All right, Atom.
Whenever you're ready.Copy !req
280. As you know, Gesicht's memory chip
was introduced to my AICopy !req
281. while I was still out of commission.Copy !req
282. It included all of his case notes.Copy !req
283. I can tell you everything
his investigation brought to light.Copy !req
284. When Darius XIV
ruled the Kingdom of Persia,Copy !req
285. he came up with a plan
to vitalize the country's vast desertsCopy !req
286. and to do it in record time.Copy !req
287. And so, he asked Professor Abullah
to create a giant robot.Copy !req
288. One strong enough to terraform the earth.Copy !req
289. They called it the Bora Project.Copy !req
290. So the robot wasn't
a weapon of mass destruction?Copy !req
291. Right. It wasn't meant as one
in the beginning, at least.Copy !req
292. But either way, the project
kept having things go wrong.Copy !req
293. Professor Abullah made prototypes,Copy !req
294. but they didn't work,
so he abandoned them all.Copy !req
295. Professor Ochanomizu and the others
found them in a cellar.Copy !req
296. Ah, that basement of dead robots.Copy !req
297. That's when Professor Abullah
had a genius idea.Copy !req
298. He realized he couldn't do it alone.Copy !req
299. It would take the help of
an assistant better than any humanCopy !req
300. if Bora was going to get done.Copy !req
301. "An assistant better than any human."Copy !req
302. What the hell are you getting at?Copy !req
303. A robot
with the most advanced AI possible.Copy !req
304. Hmm.Copy !req
305. To make it happen, the kingdom tried
to recruit one expert in particular.Copy !req
306. Which expert was it?Copy !req
307. He's referring to Dr. Tenma.Copy !req
308. Tenma?Copy !req
309. Where am I?Copy !req
310. I hear Atom is back
in the land of the living.Copy !req
311. Why am I not surprised
to see you, Abullah?Copy !req
312. Apologies for my method of procuring you.Copy !req
313. You're using me as bait
to lure in Atom. Is that what this is?Copy !req
314. Not at all.Copy !req
315. I prefer to think of you
as my honored guest.Copy !req
316. Then why'd you bring me here?Copy !req
317. You are about to know.Copy !req
318. What the hell?Copy !req
319. Is that Pluto?Copy !req
320. It is Bora.Copy !req
321. A masterpiece created
by the genius scientist Goji.Copy !req
322. It is my will to transplant my brain
into the fearsome monolithCopy !req
323. you see before you.Copy !req
324. Thus, I shall create
the world's most powerful cyborg.Copy !req
325. You are the only man I trust
with this task.Copy !req
326. The only other scientist as skilled as me
in all of mankind.Copy !req
327. Professor Abullah
lost his wife to the war.Copy !req
328. A son and daughter too.Copy !req
329. He grieved for them
from the bottom of his heart,Copy !req
330. and he began to hate the world.Copy !req
331. "In all of mankind," you said?Copy !req
332. You are no longer
a member of mankind, Abullah.Copy !req
333. Later,Copy !req
334. the violence of war claimed
Professor Abullah's life as well.Copy !req
335. Wait a minute, Atom.
The man can't be dead!Copy !req
336. I had a whole damn conversation
with him not that long ago!Copy !req
337. You haven't been a human being
since the war.Copy !req
338. You split semantic hairs.Copy !req
339. Because I lost so much of my organic body
to their bombs,Copy !req
340. you could say I am already a cyborg
if that is your drift.Copy !req
341. You're no cyborg, Abullah.
You're a robot.Copy !req
342. Why do you say
this ridiculous thing to me?Copy !req
343. I've known you for a long time.
Far better than you know yourself.Copy !req
344. Because you are a robot
I brought to life with my own two hands.Copy !req
345. What lies you speak!Copy !req
346. The real Abullah tasked me
with creating a robot for him.Copy !req
347. He wanted it to be perfect.Copy !req
348. But the artificial intelligence
of that robot was too advanced,Copy !req
349. and it never woke up.Copy !req
350. However…Copy !req
351. You have to get to the airport, Dr. Tenma!
We can't guarantee your safety here!Copy !req
352. I'm aware of that!Copy !req
353. Dr. Tenma!
I come with bad news.Copy !req
354. The Timur region was bombed extensively.
The casualties include Professor Abullah.Copy !req
355. Huh? How good is your intel?Copy !req
356. He was still alive
when we pulled him from the rubble,Copy !req
357. but soon after,
he succumbed to his wounds.Copy !req
358. Hmm?Copy !req
359. This message is for Dr. Tenma.Copy !req
360. I've copied certain parts of my brain
onto this memory chip, you see.Copy !req
361. Take it.Copy !req
362. Dr. Tenma, you know what to…Copy !req
363. He was adamant
that you get this.Copy !req
364. This chip,
surely it contains Abullah's hatred.Copy !req
365. So will you when I'm done.Copy !req
366. Every bomb is landing closer!Copy !req
367. That face!Copy !req
368. You mean to tell us…Copy !req
369. …that the man we interviewed,
who said he was Professor Abullah…Copy !req
370. The robot that awoke was you.Copy !req
371. Don't lie to me.Copy !req
372. Lie to you, huh?Copy !req
373. Funny that.Copy !req
374. This may come as a shock.Copy !req
375. With a strong enough AI,
a robot can lie to others.Copy !req
376. It can even
tell a convincing lie to itself.Copy !req
377. The reason you never met Goji
is because you are him, Abullah.Copy !req
378. One and the same.Copy !req
379. Abullah's the same person as Goji.Copy !req
380. Two distinct personalities
operating out of a single robot.Copy !req
381. So I am Goji?Copy !req
382. That isn't right.Copy !req
383. You lie to me. Why are you lying?Copy !req
384. If I'm lying,
tell me where to find him, then.Copy !req
385. You don't need me
to transplant your consciousness.Copy !req
386. You've migrated
your own artificial intelligenceCopy !req
387. into a number of other robots
well before now.Copy !req
388. You're lying! You're lying! You're lying!Copy !req
389. It's time to end this.Copy !req
390. The whole planet shouldn't have to suffer
on account of your vendetta.Copy !req
391. A man went
to the ancient Uzbek king,Copy !req
392. who sought the truth of this life.Copy !req
393. And as soon as
that king had been enlightened,Copy !req
394. the man turned back into sand.Copy !req
395. Goji. The wise sage of the sands.Copy !req
396. I'm the only person who can save you,
Abullah, and you know that.Copy !req
397. Abullah created Pluto,Copy !req
398. and Goji created Bora,Copy !req
399. just as they had each planned.Copy !req
400. Pluto inherited the hatred
which had consumed Abullah.Copy !req
401. And that hatred drove him
to kill the seven of us, one by one.Copy !req
402. Wait. So what about Bora?Copy !req
403. Huh?Copy !req
404. It's already gone?Copy !req
405. Bora was made
to help turn the desert green,Copy !req
406. but that's not its mission anymore.Copy !req
407. It's a weapon of mass destruction.
Let's call it what it is.Copy !req
408. We have to let the world know
what we're up against!Copy !req
409. Even if you do,
there's nowhere to run.Copy !req
410. Huh?Copy !req
411. Bora's powerful enough
to destroy the entire planet.Copy !req
412. I now declare the 108th
Military Tribunal in active session.Copy !req
413. The defendant will be sworn in.Copy !req
414. Why does a little tremor
inspire such fear in you?Copy !req
415. This data. What am I looking at?Copy !req
416. If these readings are accurate,Copy !req
417. the entire planet is done for.Copy !req
418. We stand upon the threshold
of the end of everything.Copy !req
419. The accused will remain silent!Copy !req
420. This is not a platform for your lunacy.Copy !req
421. I am not to blame
for this coming destruction.Copy !req
422. Do you think me so powerful?Copy !req
423. That is enough!Copy !req
424. The catalyst is hatred.Copy !req
425. Please don't, Your Majesty.Copy !req
426. Now is not the time for martyring oneself.Copy !req
427. Why live on in defeat?Copy !req
428. Might I presume
to show you something first?Copy !req
429. Huh?Copy !req
430. Hmm.Copy !req
431. Pluto! It's complete!Copy !req
432. Use this to kill them all!Copy !req
433. Wipe all seven of those robots
from the face of the earth!Copy !req
434. As you decree, sire.Copy !req
435. I will strike down
the Bora Fact-Finding Mission as well.Copy !req
436. The true villain here is
the land of Thracia itself.Copy !req
437. Unfortunately, there's nothing
you can do to them.Copy !req
438. Forgive me, but you are wrong.Copy !req
439. Hmm?Copy !req
440. As it turns out,
much can be done to them indeed.Copy !req
441. Silence! Silence, I say!Copy !req
442. Hatred has tossed us
into the abyss.Copy !req
443. All will bear the coming judgment.Copy !req
444. Hmm? Like a volcano?Copy !req
445. Yes, sir, Mr. President.Copy !req
446. An eruption
is almost certain at this point.Copy !req
447. Where at? And how big?Copy !req
448. This weather robot
can give you all the details.Copy !req
449. I'm Arnold, sir.Copy !req
450. Well, a robot
who can predict active volcanoes.Copy !req
451. Now I've seen everything.Copy !req
452. We're gonna save a lot of Thracian lives
thanks to your vigilance.Copy !req
453. Respectfully,Copy !req
454. I don't think my warning you
is going to save many lives at all, sir.Copy !req
455. Hmm?Copy !req
456. The eruption will occurCopy !req
457. within Eden National Park.Copy !req
458. While it's technically trueCopy !req
459. there are no volcanoes
in Eden National Park,Copy !req
460. there is a huge reservoir of magma
some eight kilometers below the surface.Copy !req
461. It contains
3,000 cubic kilometers of magma,Copy !req
462. all of which rises and recedes
on a known cycle.Copy !req
463. What's it doing now?Copy !req
464. Rising, sir.Copy !req
465. How often does it erupt?Copy !req
466. Roughly once every 5,000 years.Copy !req
467. And how long
since the last time it happened?Copy !req
468. Fifty-two hundred years ago.Copy !req
469. What… what are we looking at
when it does go off?Copy !req
470. One hundred million tons
of cinder and ashCopy !req
471. spewed into the atmosphere per hour.Copy !req
472. Pyroclastic flow
has the potential to take out anythingCopy !req
473. within a several-hundred-mile radius.Copy !req
474. That flow will be
about 700 degrees Celsius,Copy !req
475. and its speed
can top 300 kilometers an hour.Copy !req
476. The ejected volcanic ashCopy !req
477. will immediately rise 50 kilometers
into the stratosphere,Copy !req
478. soon covering the entire planet.Copy !req
479. The several hundred million tons
of airborne ashCopy !req
480. will block out the sun itself.Copy !req
481. Plant life will die off.Copy !req
482. After an extended bout
of nonstop acid rain,Copy !req
483. the planet will enter a new ice age.Copy !req
484. Most of the biological life on Earth
will be extinct within a few months' time.Copy !req
485. And in your opinion, we'll be up against
this doomsday scenario soon?Copy !req
486. Not unless something changes, no.Copy !req
487. - What?
- What?Copy !req
488. The magma
is definitely on an upswing,Copy !req
489. but the caldera above
shows no sign of imminent breach.Copy !req
490. As it is, nothing there
should trigger an eruption.Copy !req
491. You know, you could have led
with that part of it.Copy !req
492. All that extinction talk
had me sweating pretty hard.Copy !req
493. However…Copy !req
494. if something were
to introduce enough forceCopy !req
495. to that point below Eden National Park…Copy !req
496. What am I looking at?Copy !req
497. There's something man-made
passing through the magma.Copy !req
498. It's a good thing
that blip's not an Antiproton Bomb.Copy !req
499. An Antiproton Bomb.Copy !req
500. We have a situation, Mr. President!
At the tribunal a moment ago…Copy !req
501. A huge bomb will soon explodeCopy !req
502. right beneath the unthinking colossus
the world knows as Thracia.Copy !req
503. Hey there. You look grumpy.Copy !req
504. You knew about this, didn't you?Copy !req
505. Silly. Of course I did.Copy !req
506. Why the hell would you keep me in the dark
about something so important?Copy !req
507. That weather robot
laid it on thick.Copy !req
508. Huh?Copy !req
509. He didn't have to pretend
like it would be the end of the world.Copy !req
510. Pretend?Copy !req
511. He said, and I quote,Copy !req
512. "Most of the biological life on earth
will be extinct."Copy !req
513. We robots
will survive the change just fine.Copy !req
514. Oh, calm down.Copy !req
515. About 10% of the Earth's humans
will survive into the ice age.Copy !req
516. Think of them as my gift to you,
Mr. President.Copy !req
517. Generous, aren't I?Copy !req
518. It's looking pretty dire,
Professor Ochanomizu.Copy !req
519. An eruption such as
would drive man extinct.Copy !req
520. Is that what you meant
about Bora destroying the planet?Copy !req
521. Uh-huh.Copy !req
522. Hold on a damn second!Copy !req
523. This huge explosion,
when is it gonna happen?Copy !req
524. If it continues to burrow
at its current rate of speed,Copy !req
525. Bora will arrive at the magma poolCopy !req
526. below Eden National Park
72 hours from now.Copy !req
527. Impressive number-crunching,
Professor.Copy !req
528. But how do we know that it won't
speed up at some point? It could!Copy !req
529. I think the Professor's prediction
is going to be accurate.Copy !req
530. Based on what, my boy?Copy !req
531. Seventy-two hours from now,Copy !req
532. it will be exactly four years
since the momentCopy !req
533. Professor Abullah's family
died in the war.Copy !req
534. The anniversary of the moment
Abullah's own world was destroyed.Copy !req
535. There has to be a way
to stop him, right?Copy !req
536. Bora's traveling beneath
the Earth's crust through the magma.Copy !req
537. Nothing else known to man
can descend that deep into the planetCopy !req
538. or survive those temperatures.Copy !req
539. We'll have one chance to stop Bora,Copy !req
540. and it'll be
when it's reached Eden National ParkCopy !req
541. and nears the surface
to induce the eruption.Copy !req
542. But when the time comes,Copy !req
543. the only robot
who could even hope to prevail is…Copy !req
544. Hmm.Copy !req
545. I can do it, Professor.Copy !req
546. You shouldn't have to.Copy !req
547. But first, I need to go somewhere.Copy !req
548. I need to check in with a few people.Copy !req
549. Look who it is!
Feels like it's been forever now.Copy !req
550. So happy to see you, my old friend.Copy !req
551. I'm here today
because I have a favor to ask of you.Copy !req
552. Really?
Because I want to ask something too.Copy !req
553. What are your plans
for that delicious bomb formula?Copy !req
554. So you know about it.Copy !req
555. I caught them right away,Copy !req
556. the out-of-character brain waves
you were emittingCopy !req
557. as you scribbled away on those walls.Copy !req
558. I wish I'd never done it.Copy !req
559. When I woke up in that lab,Copy !req
560. it felt like all the hatred in the world
was pressing in on me,Copy !req
561. and I welcomed it.Copy !req
562. Your enemy must have noticed.
I certainly did.Copy !req
563. Yes.Copy !req
564. That's why I've come
to ask for your assistance.Copy !req
565. You speak of the other threat
in this equation.Copy !req
566. I will honor
your request, Atom. Consider it done.Copy !req
567. Thank you. I am in your debt, Brau.Copy !req
568. Atom.Copy !req
569. Would you touch my hand?Copy !req
570. You have such warmth.Copy !req
571. It… it radiates from you, Atom.Copy !req
572. I can feel your heart.Copy !req
573. How gorgeous!Copy !req
574. It feels like a whole new house!Copy !req
575. We are so glad we picked you
to be our interior designer, Helena!Copy !req
576. I'm just pleased you like it.
Thanks for the compliment though.Copy !req
577. We've always dreamed of
living in a home this nice, haven't we?Copy !req
578. Yeah!Copy !req
579. Well then, let's go over
your landscaping options later on.Copy !req
580. Sounds good.Copy !req
581. Gesicht.Copy !req
582. You're Atom.Copy !req
583. And you're Helena, huh?Copy !req
584. My Gesicht is within you
if Dr. Tenma's plan worked out.Copy !req
585. He is. I never would've been able
to come back to life without him.Copy !req
586. Thank you, Atom.Copy !req
587. Thank you for giving his death meaning.Copy !req
588. - There's something you should know.
- Huh?Copy !req
589. Work may have kept him away,
but you were always in Gesicht's thoughts.Copy !req
590. Even at the very end,
all his thoughts were of home with you.Copy !req
591. The world could never
take him away from you.Copy !req
592. Not in the way that matters.Copy !req
593. That was sweet of you to say.Copy !req
594. I appreciate you trying
to make me feel better.Copy !req
595. But it's all the truth.Copy !req
596. You know as well as I do
that robots can't lie.Copy !req
597. You're right.Copy !req
598. I almost forgot.Copy !req
599. Is it odd to see
a fellow robot crying like I do?Copy !req
600. No, ma'am.Copy !req
601. May I ask you about something?Copy !req
602. Sure.Copy !req
603. Gesicht and I both came to realize
that we were missing memoriesCopy !req
604. from the same stretch of time
a few years ago.Copy !req
605. I still have no idea what the contents
of those forgotten moments may have been.Copy !req
606. I can't help but wonder, though,Copy !req
607. if maybe Gesicht found out
what they were and never told me.Copy !req
608. Do you know
what our missing memories are about, Atom?Copy !req
609. Sorry. Gesicht never got
to the bottom of it.Copy !req
610. Are you hiding something from me?
I can take it.Copy !req
611. I'm not.Copy !req
612. Whatever it is, I swear I can handle it,Copy !req
613. no matter
how painful of a memory it may be!Copy !req
614. Please, Atom, just tell me.Copy !req
615. I'm sorry. He never did find out.Copy !req
616. Well,Copy !req
617. do you have to go now?Copy !req
618. I do.Copy !req
619. Atom.Copy !req
620. Will I see you again?Copy !req
621. Yeah. Of course you will.Copy !req
622. Robots can't lie. That's what you told me.Copy !req
623. But I think,Copy !req
624. if it's possible,Copy !req
625. you lied to me then.Copy !req
626. Thank you.Copy !req
627. Thank you for that, Atom.Copy !req
628. THE GREATEST ROBOT IN EUROPE - POLICEMAN
WHO DIED FIGHTING FOR THE PEACE OF MANKINDCopy !req
629. Well, Gesicht, I guess it's time.Copy !req
630. I've said all of my goodbyes,Copy !req
631. even if people didn't know
that's what I was doing.Copy !req
632. I think it's about to begin.Copy !req
633. There's something I have to do.Copy !req
634. Thank you, and goodbye.Copy !req
635. You're going down, Pluto!Copy !req
636. I am going to destroy you!Copy !req
637. You may be full of
borrowed hatred from your father…Copy !req
638. …but the hatred inside of me
goes infinitely deeper.Copy !req
639. Atom.Copy !req
640. Don't do it. Please, you can't.Copy !req
641. Mont Blanc was gentle.Copy !req
642. He was a friend of nature.Copy !req
643. He tried to protect
the forests of Switzerland.Copy !req
644. He didn't want to die.Copy !req
645. North No.2 never wanted
to return to the battlefield.Copy !req
646. He was finding such solace in music!Copy !req
647. He didn't want to die either. But he did.Copy !req
648. Because of you.Copy !req
649. You murdered them.Copy !req
650. Yes, that's right.
I killed them like they were nothing!Copy !req
651. Brando had so much to give!Copy !req
652. He adored his family.
He just wanted a future with them.Copy !req
653. He and Hercules were rivals,
but they were friends too!Copy !req
654. In a way, they understood each other
better than anyone else!Copy !req
655. And I know that neither of them…Copy !req
656. …neither of them wanted
to die like that! It wasn't fair!Copy !req
657. Epsilon hated fighting so much
that he refused to go to war.Copy !req
658. People despised him.Copy !req
659. One of the most powerful beings on Earth,Copy !req
660. and all he wanted to do was
care for orphans!Copy !req
661. I know Epsilon didn't wanna die!Copy !req
662. The last of them
I carry within me is Gesicht.Copy !req
663. His love and his hatred too!Copy !req
664. Stop it, Atom! Don't do this!Copy !req
665. Pluto isn't using
his tornado attack anymore!Copy !req
666. There's still a good person
deep inside somewhere!Copy !req
667. I gotta go help him!Copy !req
668. Not so fast, young lady!
How would you help if you were there?Copy !req
669. Let me go!
If we don't do something, Atom will!Copy !req
670. He'll be all right. I'm sure of it!Copy !req
671. We all know how strong Atom is.
He's got so much power inside!Copy !req
672. What if it's too much, huh?Copy !req
673. Some of that power inside of him
shouldn't be there in the first place!Copy !req
674. What if the hatred and the sorrow
are too much,Copy !req
675. and Atom gets swept up in feeling them?Copy !req
676. I don't want him to kill anyone!Copy !req
677. Then we have to believe in him.Copy !req
678. For better or worse,
that's all we can do right now.Copy !req
679. Atom's a good boy.
You and I both know that.Copy !req
680. We're 75 kilometers
from Atom's signal.Copy !req
681. We're coming, lad.Copy !req
682. You'll pay for their lives with your own!Copy !req
683. Atom.Copy !req
684. Atom.Copy !req
685. Atom.Copy !req
686. Atom.Copy !req
687. Atom.Copy !req
688. Atom.Copy !req
689. Nothing comes from hatred
except for more hatred.Copy !req
690. Everyone, I could hear you all
in my heart.Copy !req
691. They're crying, aren't they?Copy !req
692. What's happening?Copy !req
693. What's happening to me?Copy !req
694. You're crying, Pluto.Copy !req
695. No, wait.
You're only Sahad now, aren't you?Copy !req
696. I don't understand either.Copy !req
697. How come my eyes
are welling up with tears?Copy !req
698. What's setting them free?Copy !req
699. See the shooting star?Copy !req
700. Humans say that if you make a wish
when you see a shooting star,Copy !req
701. it'll surely come true.Copy !req
702. Did you make a wish, then, Sahad?Copy !req
703. I know I did.Copy !req
704. What did you wish for?Copy !req
705. Probably what you wished for too.Copy !req
706. He's coming.Copy !req
707. It's time.Copy !req
708. I have to go now, Sahad.Copy !req
709. But you're already at the park, Atom!
Where would you go?Copy !req
710. Be advised, Eden National Park is
extremely hostile to human life right now!Copy !req
711. I don't care! We're landing!Copy !req
712. But, Professor Ochanomizu,
the pilot just said…Copy !req
713. Where's Atom's GPS signal?Copy !req
714. He dropped out of sight
a minute ago.Copy !req
715. You don't think that Pluto could have
killed him again, do you?Copy !req
716. Atom is much stronger now than
he was during their first fatal encounterCopy !req
717. as a result of the unbalanced emotions
I infused in him.Copy !req
718. But strong enough to prevail?Copy !req
719. The odds are good
that Atom has already slain Pluto.Copy !req
720. Bora's the real threat, gentlemen.Copy !req
721. Bora will end life on Earth
as we know it in minutes.Copy !req
722. Even Atom cannot stop him.Copy !req
723. We've touched down.Copy !req
724. Open up the hatch.
There's no time to waste!Copy !req
725. Safety first, Professor.Copy !req
726. The air outside your ship
is filled with malice.Copy !req
727. Abullah's hatred
eats away at all other emotions,Copy !req
728. and now it radiates off him
like never before.Copy !req
729. Bora is that hatred made manifest.Copy !req
730. The Earth is doomed,
no matter what you may try.Copy !req
731. That's only a theory, Doctor.Copy !req
732. No offense, but you spend too much time
cloistered away in your lab.Copy !req
733. You could stand to feel
the sun on your face more often.Copy !req
734. Hypothetically, you are correct.
The Earth's doom is upon us.Copy !req
735. And no matter what we may attempt,
we're all going to be dead soon.Copy !req
736. But even now,
when faced with our own extinction,Copy !req
737. fully aware
that it probably won't change a thing,Copy !req
738. we're holding out hope until the very end
because that's what people do.Copy !req
739. Atom's the same way.Copy !req
740. Dr. Tenma, you're a man
of such contradictions.Copy !req
741. You unleashed Goji upon the world,Copy !req
742. but you also gave us the gift of Atom.Copy !req
743. What? I don't understand!Copy !req
744. There's no sign of either of them!Copy !req
745. Orchid City's gone dark!
No response!Copy !req
746. Another huge quake
in Capital Town!Copy !req
747. Hold on.Copy !req
748. Are we to believe this is all being caused
by the upheaval in Eden National Park?Copy !req
749. Yes, and we're
one large shock away from annihilation.Copy !req
750. What kind of large shock?Copy !req
751. An Antiproton Bomb, for example.Copy !req
752. One of those in the magma
would spell certain doom.Copy !req
753. Mr. President, sir!
You have to declare a state of…Copy !req
754. Where'd he go?Copy !req
755. Hmm.Copy !req
756. We're safe enough
in this chamber, aren't we?Copy !req
757. If you tell me I'm protected in here,
I believe you.Copy !req
758. Yes.
I will keep you safe and sound.Copy !req
759. And in exchange for that…Copy !req
760. Huh?Copy !req
761. …you will be my slave
for the rest of your life.Copy !req
762. Atom.Copy !req
763. He couldn't have gone in there, right?Copy !req
764. He had to.Copy !req
765. He's trying to stop Bora
from setting off the Antiproton Bomb.Copy !req
766. Can he do it?
Is he really strong enough?Copy !req
767. - Yes, but…
- Huh?Copy !req
768. The boy's body will melt
before he's had enough time to do it.Copy !req
769. Bora.Copy !req
770. Can you understand me?Copy !req
771. Gesicht taught me something important.Copy !req
772. Nothing good ever comes of hatred.
Just more of it!Copy !req
773. We need to end this cycle of hate!Copy !req
774. It's no use. Time for Plan B.Copy !req
775. I'll need five minutes
to disable the Antiproton Bomb.Copy !req
776. But there's no way
my body can hold out that long.Copy !req
777. I know it's impossible.Copy !req
778. But still, I have to try!Copy !req
779. I will protect your body.
Focus on your task.Copy !req
780. Sahad.Copy !req
781. Are you ready for this?Copy !req
782. Why can't you admit you are wrong?Copy !req
783. Hatred gives nothing and takes everything!Copy !req
784. Atom! Transfer the formula
for the Antiproton Bomb directly into me!Copy !req
785. - What?
- Trust me!Copy !req
786. Helping flowers to bloom
in the desert in another life,Copy !req
787. that was my purpose.Copy !req
788. But I know that I can
never be Sahad again.Copy !req
789. Atom, please give Uran a message.Copy !req
790. Huh?Copy !req
791. Tell her I'm glad
we got to paint pictures together!Copy !req
792. It gave me such joy!Copy !req
793. Sahad, wait!Copy !req
794. Sahad!Copy !req
795. Shouldn't we evacuate?
It could go up any moment now, right?Copy !req
796. There's no point running away.
If it does explode, the Earth is done for.Copy !req
797. Wait. Is that…Copy !req
798. Atom!Copy !req
799. Atom, take care of
this beautiful world.Copy !req
800. No, Sahad!Copy !req
801. What… what in the world?Copy !req
802. It's the Peltier effect.Copy !req
803. Find the point
at which two separate metalsCopy !req
804. with differing properties meet.Copy !req
805. If you apply high voltage,Copy !req
806. you'll get rapid heat absorption
and ultra-low temperatures as a result.Copy !req
807. Goodness. Look at the sky!Copy !req
808. How brilliantly it shines!
Like a field bursting with wildflowers!Copy !req
809. Pluto saved the Earth.Copy !req
810. No, Pluto's body,
but Sahad in all the ways that mattered.Copy !req
811. Atom.Copy !req
812. I only wanted to protect our citizens.
That's all.Copy !req
813. To help ensure the prosperity of Thracia…Copy !req
814. That's why I did what I did.Copy !req
815. Huh.Copy !req
816. - Something's wrong.
- Hmm?Copy !req
817. The magma is beginning to calm.Copy !req
818. The eruption was halted.Copy !req
819. Huh?Copy !req
820. Is Atom to blame?
