14. - But fortunately for Niky, I had an innovative idea

61. for an endorsement deal, and his mom seemed interested,

62. so I asked permission to take all his physical measurements

63. which I would then use to make my final decision.

65. Over the course of several days,

66. I gathered information

67. on as many of the top kids as I could,

68. and even though some parents had doubts

69. about their kids' potential...

79. who said he could accurately predict

80. what these kids would look like when they were all grown up.

93. and later that week, I returned to see the results.

240. - After James was done talking to Sasha,

241. I came back in to see how it went.

243. - Yeah, it was amazing.

244. - You got to talk to a real astronaut.

245. - Yeah. - So what did you learn?

246. - He said that his family died in space

247. because he didn't follow the rules, and he took his kid.

249. - And he told me that once,

250. a alien tried to— to pull him into the sun.

252. So do you still want to be an astronaut?

253. - Well, a little, not really, not as much.

254. - What do you think you're gonna do instead?

258. - I did it, and with Sasha back on track,

260. with the solid portfolio of kids I needed

261. to give him the best shot at becoming a national brand.

286. - But after surveying the neighborhood,

287. I realized that Emily might not be taking

288. full advantage of her surroundings,

289. so I paid her a visit with a way to help.

290. I noticed there are a lot of bars

291. and nightclubs in the area.

295. Sometimes we have some problems with over-serving

302. so if, instead of closing at 6:00 p.m.,

308. by staying open 24 hours a day.

326. and officially changed the hours.

327. Then to help our cause, I had the aisles narrowed slightly

328. and moved some of her poorer-selling items

329. to an area of the store that would increase

330. the likelihood of accidental contact.

331. So that evening, once the sun went down,

332. it was time to see if the new extended hours would work.

333. But knowing that tonight's sales

334. would determine if Emily kept using my idea,

335. I wanted to guarantee we had some results,

336. so I headed to a nearby bar

337. with a plan to befriend a drunk patron

338. and lead them back to the store.

341. - They're open 24 hours now.

343. - After a few unsuccessful attempts

369. - Over the course of the next hour,

370. we had several rounds,

371. and I noticed that JJ was getting pretty tipsy.

372. - My roommates put this piece of paper in my pocket.

373. Like, "Just in case you get too drunk and get lost tonight."

375. - They put a piece of paper

377. So you get drunk often.

378. - Oh, yeah.

379. - Really drunk. - Every night.

380. - And I felt that we were finally ready to head out.

381. I explained to him that the cameras were there

382. for a documentary about nightlife in Long Beach,

383. but in reality, my only goal

384. was to get him inside the antique shop.

385. There was just one more step I had to take to get him ready.

386. There's this costume party in the area that—

387. - A costume party?

388. - Yeah. - Let's go.

389. - You want to go? - Yeah.

390. - Safety is always my number one priority,

391. so I came up with the idea of a costume party

392. as a way to get JJ into a padded outfit

393. that would protect him

394. against any antiques he might shatter

395. once he stumbled into Emily's store.

398. And with that, we headed out to my made-up party.

426. JJ had destroyed a large selection of antiques,

427. and once he freed himself from the aisle,

428. all Emily had to do was catalogue the broken items...

430. - Is there any way I can take this thing off?

431. - And ring up the sale.

432. - It's about $280 worth of damage,

433. and that's probably getting off easy
