160. is to learn the three basic aims of public speaking.

238. can be traced to one thing.

240. - Practically all of us would be better speakers

247. If this speaker would concentrate

248. upon overcoming his speech fault of saying uh and ur,

249. he could be an interesting and effective speaker.

256. of her speech just to get them said,

262. - Think about it, won't you?

265. of the man who runs his words together?

268. - Have you found yourself yet?

269. Do you know what your careless speech habits are?

270. The important thing is to recognize the trouble

271. and then take steps to correct it.

272. - And then crush it like a cockroach.

275. - Should practice opening the mouth

276. wider than usual as he or she speaks.

277. - And fresh breath, please.

279. the words can flow out,

280. and the audience can easily hear you.

281. Speak with life and animation,

282. yet speak deliberately.

283. Use plenty of lip and tongue actions.

284. - So you can annunciate clearly,

285. so you will be understood.

286. - And don't forget the wire rack.

287. - Speak in low full tones,

288. so that what you say will be pleasing

289. and appealing to the ear.

291. - Don't let your voice be high, shrill,

292. and unpleasant just because you're a little excited.

293. Keep it low and pleasing.
