1. It looks like another scorcher today.Copy !req
2. Hey, it's summer,
yet you're all bundled up.Copy !req
3. Aren't you hot?Copy !req
4. What's that?
That paper's three days old.Copy !req
5. They say this time a middle-aged couple
in Verden was killed.Copy !req
6. I hear the killer is a doctor...Copy !req
7. Oh, yeah... You said you're going
to Verden, didn't you?Copy !req
8. You know someone there?Copy !req
9. Yeah... I don't know if I can
meet up with him or not, but...Copy !req
10. I have to go there...Copy !req
11. The Girl and the Seasoned SoldierCopy !req
12. Giessen Police Station
(Germany)Copy !req
13. You got your start
in the French Foreign Legion.Copy !req
14. After going off on your own, you joined
the fighting in Nicaragua in 1979.Copy !req
15. From 1981 to 1984 you aided
the Afghan rebel guerillas...Copy !req
16. In 1987, you played a central role
in the Mossad's secret operationCopy !req
17. to assassinate Islamic extremists.Copy !req
18. What a brilliant fighting record,
Hugo Bernhardt...Copy !req
19. Since a mercenary such as you
is sponsoring this seminar,Copy !req
20. I'm sure you must have some
outstanding students graduating...Copy !req
21. It might be a good idea to send
our young ones to attend your lecturesCopy !req
22. and have you whip them into shape.Copy !req
23. Yes, well...Copy !req
24. Incidentally...Copy !req
25. Was this man outstanding?
I believe he showed upCopy !req
26. at your training grounds
about five months ago.Copy !req
27. He is brilliant with a scalpel...Copy !req
28. but did he show an aptitude
with a pistol?Copy !req
29. I have no wish to speak
about my students...Copy !req
30. I see.Copy !req
31. Five Months AgoCopy !req
32. Have you ever learned
to shoot a gun?Copy !req
33. No...Copy !req
34. So you're self-taught...Copy !req
35. No...Copy !req
36. I've never shot a gun before...Copy !req
37. Not once?Copy !req
38. No... I know I'm asking
for the impossible, but...Copy !req
39. I have no choice
but to ask you for help.Copy !req
40. Anyway, anyone
who comes here is askedCopy !req
41. to forget all he's learned about guns.Copy !req
42. But...Copy !req
43. I've never had anyone
who'd never shot a gun before.Copy !req
44. Jump rope...Copy !req
45. Regardless of your experience,
this is where everyone starts.Copy !req
46. Just like that child...Copy !req
47. Don't just stand there!Copy !req
48. Get busy!Copy !req
49. Y-Yes, sir!Copy !req
50. Faster.Copy !req
51. Faster!Copy !req
52. Watch your balance! Your balance!Copy !req
53. Faster!Copy !req
54. Faster!Copy !req
55. I just can't do it as well as you do...Copy !req
56. Do you always keep an eye
on the trainees for the trainer?Copy !req
57. Okay, okay, you needn't glare at me
that way. I'll do it.Copy !req
58. I must do it.Copy !req
59. Oh, a brambling...Copy !req
60. I wonder if it's looking for food
for its chicks.Copy !req
61. Are you so exhausted that
you've lost your appetite?Copy !req
62. Huh? Yes...Copy !req
63. Eating is part of your training.Copy !req
64. Yes, sir...Copy !req
65. Is she your child... or, your grandchild?Copy !req
66. No...Copy !req
67. That child's mother
was shot and killed by me.Copy !req
68. Right before her eyes... in Myanmar...Copy !req
69. When I ran into a hut in the jungles
for shelter, they were there.Copy !req
70. The mother was holding a gunCopy !req
71. If I'd been a fraction
of a second slower,Copy !req
72. I'd have been shot dead.Copy !req
73. And that's why
I brought that child here.Copy !req
74. Since she began living with me,
that child has never smiled.Copy !req
75. She'll probably die hating me...Copy !req
76. When you have a gun,
that sort of thing happens.Copy !req
77. If you don't like it, you're better off
never picking up a gun.Copy !req
78. What's that?Copy !req
79. Something smells nice...
It smells like daphne blossoms...Copy !req
80. Thanks...Copy !req
81. That's enough.Copy !req
82. Huh? Then?Copy !req
83. It's time for some running.Copy !req
84. Oh, I see...Copy !req
85. When you're done running,
come to the low ground in the back.Copy !req
86. Huh?Copy !req
87. Low ground?Copy !req
88. The firing range.Copy !req
89. Firing range...Copy !req
90. Remember, twice...Copy !req
91. Whenever you shoot your gun,
pull the trigger twice.Copy !req
92. By pulling the trigger twice,
you raise the probabilityCopy !req
93. that you'll get your target.Copy !req
94. If you can't do that,
consider yourself dead.Copy !req
95. What is this?Copy !req
96. You're always preparing meals for me,Copy !req
97. so today I decided to make you
some Japanese food.Copy !req
98. This is called nikujaga.
I hope you'll like it.Copy !req
99. Those are chopsticks.
They're carved out of wood.Copy !req
100. I thought they would enhance
the Japanese feel of the dish.Copy !req
101. You're good...Copy !req
102. You use those chopsticks well.Copy !req
103. Once more!Copy !req
104. Aim!Copy !req
105. Do it again!Copy !req
106. Aim!Copy !req
107. What's wrong?Copy !req
108. Oh, it's a brambling chick.
I guess it fell out of its nest.Copy !req
109. Oh... no, no!Copy !req
110. You have to return it to its nest!Copy !req
111. That chick is going to die!Copy !req
112. It's very difficult to raise it
away from its nest.Copy !req
113. It's rare that you
can do it successfully.Copy !req
114. Let's return it to its nest...
to its mother.Copy !req
115. Three seconds!Copy !req
116. Everything is determined
in three seconds!Copy !req
117. If there's even an instant of hesitation,
the one killed will be you.Copy !req
118. So...Copy !req
119. How was his performance record
when he finished the course?Copy !req
120. Technically, he had a perfect score,
and his physical condition also improved.Copy !req
121. His concentration
was phenomenal. However...Copy !req
122. However?Copy !req
123. Being able to shoot a person
is another issue altogether.Copy !req
124. Oh?Copy !req
125. Whether he's able to shoot
his first person will determineCopy !req
126. whether he will or won't be able to
use his gun.Copy !req
127. I see... I wonder which way he'll go...Copy !req
128. Well, never mind about that.
Do you have any idea where he went?Copy !req
129. I'd like you to tell me if you do know...Copy !req
130. Thank you for everything,
these five months...Copy !req
131. Enclosed is the rest of my tuition.Copy !req
132. And please help yourself
to the nikujaga.Copy !req
133. You have my sincere thanks.Copy !req
134. Jeez...Copy !req
135. Damn...Copy !req
136. She laughed...Copy !req
137. How about it? You do know where
he went, don't you?Copy !req
138. I can't tell you that.Copy !req
139. That's fine... You may leave.Copy !req
140. This way.Copy !req
141. A Past ErasedCopy !req
