1. What's wrong, Nina?Copy !req
2. As if being dragged down these stairs...Copy !req
3. he was taken away...Copy !req
4. Who was?Copy !req
5. My big brother...Copy !req
6. Yes...Copy !req
7. He was known as the "Man of the Red Rose Mansion."Copy !req
8. What was his name?Copy !req
9. Franz Bonaparta.Copy !req
10. Franz... Bonaparta...Copy !req
11. However, I don't know if that was his real name or not...Copy !req
12. since he also had a pen name.Copy !req
13. A pen name?Copy !req
14. He was also the author of a picture book.Copy !req
15. I...Copy !req
16. I...Copy !req
17. was reading a picture book in here, and...Copy !req
18. Someone opened this door...Copy !req
19. and came home...Copy !req
20. A picture book?Copy !req
21. Yes.Copy !req
22. It was a very peculiar picture book.Copy !req
23. The title was "The Monster Without
A Name," or something like that.Copy !req
24. There's nothing here Nina.Copy !req
25. What is this... memory...?Copy !req
26. I should have been reading a picture book in here, but...Copy !req
27. the one who opened the door and came in...Copy !req
28. was me.Copy !req
29. I'm welcoming myself back home?Copy !req
30. Welcome back.Copy !req
31. Mr. Jan Suk's mother?Copy !req
32. Oh, Mrs. Suk is in room 409.Copy !req
33. Unfortunately, her memory seems to come and go.Copy !req
34. I wonder how she's doing today?Copy !req
35. Jan?Copy !req
36. Is that you, Jan?Copy !req
37. No.Copy !req
38. My, what a pretty girl you are.Copy !req
39. Are you a friend of Jan's?Copy !req
40. Yes.Copy !req
41. Such pretty flowers.Copy !req
42. I'll arrange them over here.Copy !req
43. I'll have to make sure Aunt Olga doesn't take them away.Copy !req
44. Aunt Olga always takes my things for herself.Copy !req
45. Like yesterday, she took away my doll.Copy !req
46. She's such a mean person.Copy !req
47. But she passed away over ten years ago, didn't she?Copy !req
48. Oh, that's right.Copy !req
49. You know a lot, don't you?Copy !req
50. I've heard a lot from Jan.Copy !req
51. I see.Copy !req
52. Is Jan still at school?Copy !req
53. No.Copy !req
54. Oh, that's right.Copy !req
55. He already graduated and became a detective.Copy !req
56. Don't worry.Copy !req
57. Jan is fine.Copy !req
58. You have nothing to worry about.Copy !req
59. You have very gentle eyes.Copy !req
60. Please talk about anything you want.Copy !req
61. Like different stories you remember.Copy !req
62. Let me see...Copy !req
63. katherina from next door is very stylish.Copy !req
64. And then...Copy !req
65. Oh, this is fun.Copy !req
66. It's been a long time since I've had this much fun.Copy !req
67. I'm glad.Copy !req
68. I'll have to thank you somehow.Copy !req
69. There's no need to thank me.Copy !req
70. I just wanted to see the thing Jan left in your care.Copy !req
71. The thing he left with me?Copy !req
72. A cassette tape.Copy !req
73. Oh, that's right here.Copy !req
74. The Scariest ThingCopy !req
75. Who would've thought you'd leave it with Suk's mother...Copy !req
76. I'll wait here while you go get the
cassette tape and the documents.Copy !req
77. However, you're going to forget about your business deal.Copy !req
78. That was our agreement.Copy !req
79. Let's go, Dr. Tenma.Copy !req
80. I'm sorry I said this had nothing to do with you.Copy !req
81. The story you told about what happened
to you in the last ten years...Copy !req
82. However, if that cassette tape is the
key to revealing the big picture...Copy !req
83. your innocence may be proven.Copy !req
84. The same goes for you as well, Mr. Grimmer.Copy !req
85. It's true that I've been investigating
what 511 kinderheim was.Copy !req
86. But you know...Copy !req
87. even if everything is revealed...Copy !req
88. my life won't change at all.Copy !req
89. You guys would like to visit Mr. Suk's mother?Copy !req
90. She seems to be doing very well today.Copy !req
91. Thank you.Copy !req
92. I guess the conversation she had with her
previous visitor did her a lot of good.Copy !req
93. A visitor?Copy !req
94. Who was it?Copy !req
95. I don't know...Copy !req
96. A beautiful woman with long, blond hair...Copy !req
97. The tape!Copy !req
98. So, you guys actually came.Copy !req
99. I was told you were coming soon.Copy !req
100. Where is the tape?Copy !req
101. The tape?Copy !req
102. It's right here.Copy !req
103. How is Jan doing?Copy !req
104. Right now, he's...Copy !req
105. Please take me to the hospital he's in.Copy !req
106. Jan's in trouble, isn't he?Copy !req
107. Right now my head feels very clear.Copy !req
108. The person who was just here woke me up.Copy !req
109. But it might only be for today.Copy !req
110. Please let me see Jan.Copy !req
111. I will take you to him.Copy !req
112. To the hospital where Jan Suk is.Copy !req
113. Mr. Grimmer...Copy !req
114. We've struck a deal with the secret police.Copy !req
115. Mom...Copy !req
116. Why didn't you call me, Jan?Copy !req
117. It's nothing... serious... Mom...Copy !req
118. You tried to keep me from worrying again, didn't you?Copy !req
119. It's the same as that time.Copy !req
120. That time?Copy !req
121. You fell from a tree when you were nine, remember?Copy !req
122. Even though I was worried...Copy !req
123. you said nothing was wrong and that
you were fine, and kept walking.Copy !req
124. Even though your ankle was badly sprained...Copy !req
125. Oh, God...Copy !req
126. Please don't let me forget this child...Copy !req
127. Jan is my child.Copy !req
128. Even if I forget many other things...Copy !req
129. please, God...Copy !req
130. please, just don't let me forget about Jan.Copy !req
131. Then, let's go back to the other question.Copy !req
132. What is it that you're most afraid of?Copy !req
133. The monster inside of me is getting biggerCopy !req
134. Chomp chomp.Copy !req
135. Munch munch. Crunch crunch.Copy !req
136. Gulp.Copy !req
137. Chomp chomp.Copy !req
138. Munch munch.Copy !req
139. Crunch crunch. Gulp.Copy !req
140. That's enough.Copy !req
141. I don't want to hear any more.Copy !req
142. No, you should listen.Copy !req
143. The nephew you sent to 511 kinderheim...Copy !req
144. is the same as this drugged boy being interrogated!Copy !req
145. You should know what they did to your nephew!Copy !req
146. We must listen to what comes after this.Copy !req
147. What lies be beyond this...Copy !req
148. What I am most afraid of...Copy !req
149. is that...Copy !req
150. I'll forget Anna.Copy !req
151. Because of all these strange experiments
done on me every day...Copy !req
152. my memories are disappearing.Copy !req
153. Please...Copy !req
154. don't let me forget Anna.Copy !req
155. In this whole world...Copy !req
156. there's only Anna and me.Copy !req
157. Please, just this one memory.Copy !req
158. Please...Copy !req
159. That's as far as I'll let you listen.Copy !req
160. What is this?Copy !req
161. It's the voice of a young man.Copy !req
162. Could it be that he deleted the old recording, and...Copy !req
163. I finally understand now.Copy !req
164. he recorded over it?Copy !req
165. I finally understand after listening to this tape.Copy !req
166. The person who came to visit Suk's mother recorded this?Copy !req
167. Dr. Tenma?Copy !req
168. This is what Johan's voice sounds like now...Copy !req
169. I finally understand...Copy !req
170. where I need to go...Copy !req
171. Dr. Tenma.Copy !req
172. He took time off?Copy !req
173. You mean the inspector?Copy !req
174. I can't believe that someone as devoted
to work as he would do that!Copy !req
175. I heard it's his first long vacation
since he came to this station!Copy !req
176. Well, he didn't seem all that busy lately anyway.Copy !req
177. He was considered to be an elite detective of the BKA.Copy !req
178. He probably worked too hard.Copy !req
179. Well, he doesn't know when to stop.Copy !req
180. I heard his wife and daughter left him because of that.Copy !req
181. So, where did the inspector say he's
going to spend his vacation?Copy !req
182. He said Prague, in the Czech Republic, but...Copy !req
183. I wonder if he even knows how to take a break.Copy !req
184. Prague (Czech Republic)Copy !req
185. Have you decided?Copy !req
186. Coffee.Copy !req
187. Yes, sir.Copy !req
188. No, wait, I'm on vacation.Copy !req
189. A beer.Copy !req
190. What brand is this beer?Copy !req
191. It's the local Prazdroj.Copy !req
192. You think the public will be satisfied
with a report like this?Copy !req
193. We don't even know the whereabouts
of Detective Suk yet!Copy !req
194. On top of that, do you know what would happen
if we announced these half-assed results...Copy !req
195. about the former Czechoslovakian
secret police connection.Copy !req
196. We'll be sitting ducks for the media!Copy !req
197. B-But now that all the people
who were involved are dead...Copy !req
198. The current situation of the Czech
police and the Prague station...Copy !req
199. can't be resolved by simply
using the dead as scapegoats!Copy !req
200. Y-Yes, sir.Copy !req
201. If you understand, then hurry up
and continue the investigation!Copy !req
202. And track down Suk too!Copy !req
203. On the double!Copy !req
204. Yes, sir!Copy !req
205. Excuse me.Copy !req
206. Umm, there is someone who would like to see you.Copy !req
207. I won't see anyone who doesn't have an appointment.Copy !req
208. Besides, I don't have time for that right now.Copy !req
209. But, umm...Copy !req
210. Y-You're!Copy !req
211. Well, you surprised me, Inspector Runge.Copy !req
212. We haven't seen each other since
last year's Interpol conference.Copy !req
213. The lecture you gave at the subcommittee
seminar was very interesting.Copy !req
214. I'm sorry to have interrupted you at a busy time.Copy !req
215. No, I had no idea you were over here on vacation.Copy !req
216. I'm really envious.Copy !req
217. Under the circumstances,
I can't even get a decent break...Copy !req
218. It seems you have your hands full, Commissioner Nepela.Copy !req
219. Yeah.Copy !req
220. I'm at the point where I'd like to ask you
for some advice, if you don't mind.Copy !req
221. After all, the case is in absolute chaos right now.Copy !req
222. The connection between the Prague police department
and the former Czechoslovakian secret police...Copy !req
223. It all began when an inspector named Zeman...Copy !req
224. was found dead among members
of the former secret police.Copy !req
225. At the time, Inspector Zeman...Copy !req
226. was conducting an investigation into the murder
of the director of an unauthorized orphanage.Copy !req
227. We found out later, but...Copy !req
228. both Zeman and the murdered orphanage director...Copy !req
229. had ties to the secret police.Copy !req
230. Who is the suspect?Copy !req
231. A man named Grimmer, who first discovered
the bodies, has surfaced as a suspect, but...Copy !req
232. the children at the orphanage said
they witnessed another person...Copy !req
233. leaving the scene of the crime.Copy !req
234. Another person?Copy !req
235. A blond beauty.Copy !req
236. However, the case didn't end there.Copy !req
237. It got even bigger.Copy !req
238. The previous commissioner and two veteran detectives...Copy !req
239. were all killed with poisoned candy.Copy !req
240. They were also affiliated with the former
Czechoslovakian secret police.Copy !req
241. Who is the suspect for the poisonings?Copy !req
242. A young detective named Suk who worked
directly under Inspector Zeman.Copy !req
243. Any proof?Copy !req
244. We don't have any proof.Copy !req
245. But the two detectives with the special investigative
task force who were watching Suk...Copy !req
246. were found shot to death in Suk's room!Copy !req
247. I see.Copy !req
248. So, where is this Detective Suk now?Copy !req
249. He is currently missing.Copy !req
250. All the circumstantial evidence points to Suk.Copy !req
251. Y-Yes?Copy !req
252. He doesn't smell like a man who'd commit such a crime.Copy !req
253. O-Okay...Copy !req
254. Umm, how do you know?Copy !req
255. I know of a very similar case.Copy !req
256. Impressive!Copy !req
257. Even though you're on vacation, that
hand of yours is still working.Copy !req
258. The objective collecting of data, wasn't it?Copy !req
259. And you also said something else at the lecture.Copy !req
260. By using that data...Copy !req
261. you can conduct the investigation from
a completely subjective perspective.Copy !req
262. In other words, by becoming the killer himself, right?Copy !req
263. So, what do you say?Copy !req
264. If you were Suk what would you be thinking?Copy !req
265. Where would you be now?Copy !req
266. I'm terribly sorry.Copy !req
267. But unfortunately, I'm on vacation.Copy !req
268. Oh, no, I should be the one apologizing.Copy !req
269. How do you like the city of Prague?Copy !req
270. For the most part, I've been visiting
secondhand bookstores.Copy !req
271. Secondhand bookstores?Copy !req
272. Are you looking for something?Copy !req
273. I went to thirteen stores already.Copy !req
274. I finally found a copy.Copy !req
275. The truth is, the reason I came here today...Copy !req
276. was to see if you could translate this Czech text
into German when you have some free time.Copy !req
277. Oh, a picture book?Copy !req
278. I'm surprised.Copy !req
279. I didn't know you had such hobbies.Copy !req
280. If you don't mind leaving this with me, I'll have
one of my men translate it by tomorrow.Copy !req
281. Is it for your child... no, grandchild?Copy !req
282. Yes, well... you could say that.Copy !req
283. Suk is definitely innocent!Copy !req
284. As his friend...Copy !req
285. I firmly believe without a doubt that he is innocent!Copy !req
286. The police asked me tons of questions, but...Copy !req
287. there's nothing shady about him!Copy !req
288. If you're with the police, then please help him!Copy !req
289. We'll cooperate in any way possible to help him!Copy !req
290. Unfortunately, I'm on vacation right now.Copy !req
291. I can't be of much help.Copy !req
292. Was there anyone else he opened up to?Copy !req
293. He was close to getting a girlfriend.Copy !req
294. He'd only gotten as far as getting her name, though...Copy !req
295. What was her name?Copy !req
296. Anna...Copy !req
297. Oh, that's right! Anna Liebert!Copy !req
298. She had blond hair and was extremely pretty.Copy !req
299. He was really happy because he thought
everything was going well.Copy !req
300. Anna Liebert...Copy !req
301. One of the twins who survived the homicide
involving a high official...Copy !req
302. who fled East Germany due to exile ten years ago.Copy !req
303. Moravia Publishing CompanyCopy !req
304. I don't think we have any left.Copy !req
305. Emil Scherbe's "The Monster Without A Name"...Copy !req
306. was indeed one of our publications, but...Copy !req
307. if it was published during the old regime...Copy !req
308. that would've still been during the
previous company president's time.Copy !req
309. Is Emil Scherbe a pen name?Copy !req
310. Yes, it probably was.Copy !req
311. There were several other pen names as well...Copy !req
312. Something Bonaparta...Copy !req
313. Also, Jakov Vyrobek.Copy !req
314. klaus Poppe and such...Copy !req
315. klaus Poppe's box is here, actually.Copy !req
316. What? I'm surprised you found it!Copy !req
317. May I open it?Copy !req
318. Sure, go ahead.Copy !req
319. It's probably just some old rough sketches anyway.Copy !req
320. A pregnant woman...Copy !req
321. And then...Copy !req
322. children were born.Copy !req
323. A girl.Copy !req
324. Twins...Copy !req
325. I see.Copy !req
326. You were able to translate it?Copy !req
327. I appreciate this, Commissioner Nepela.Copy !req
328. Oh, I'd like to ask something, since it's been bothering me.Copy !req
329. But could you please read the last page to me?Copy !req
330. Let me see...Copy !req
331. "Even though he now had a name..."Copy !req
332. "there was no one left to call him by his name."Copy !req
333. "Johan."Copy !req
334. "It is a wonderful name."Copy !req
335. What a curious picture book...Copy !req
336. Johan.Copy !req
337. Inspector Runge, how about having
dinner with me sometime?Copy !req
338. How long is your vacation going to be?Copy !req
339. You.Copy !req
340. I'd like coffee instead of beer.Copy !req
341. I think it'll be a long vacation.Copy !req
342. Yes... Gazing at what is known now in this world...Copy !req
343. Yes... Your eyes believe in kindness...Copy !req
344. Make it home... to your land of harmony...Copy !req
345. Make it home... to your land of purity...Copy !req
346. The Cruelest ThingCopy !req
