42. Unfortunately, I haven't seen him for decades.

43. - Hello. - Welcome.

58. Whoever keeps the pet has to relinquish other property

59. or give money to the other person.

60. That's how most cases are settled.

61. Really? I didn't know that.

62. Sorry to jump in your conversation.

63. I'm...

64. Nakatsuka.

65. ATTORNEY YUKIO NAKATSUKA

66. You're an attorney?

67. Your office is in this area?

68. Has it been there for a long time?

69. Yes. For 35 years.

70. Thirty-five years? Wow?

71. But I'll be closing the office next month.

72. May I ask why?

73. Because times have changed.

74. "Old soldiers just fade away."

82. This is my home.

83. My late mother and I worked so hard to keep it.

84. Nobody can take it away from me.

89. Sure.

90. Administrative subrogation could be an option—

91. Go away!

92. - Thank you for the meal. - Thank you for coming.

93. I saw that on the evening news.

94. The government will appeal to administrative subrogation.

95. It's just a matter of time.

96. I guess so.

98. To build the Olympic stadium,

99. they have to demolish an old municipally-owned apartment.

110. - Enjoy your ham cutlets. - Thank you.

111. Ham cutlet, huh? It's a good old-fashioned dish.

112. I often ate it at a local butcher's shop when I was a kid.

113. The community was tighter. Oh, the good old days.

114. Come on, Chu. Don't be so nostalgic.

115. You're too young to understand.

116. If you glorify the past,

117. you won't be happy with the present and the future, which are more important.

118. You're right.

119. The young lady is absolutely right.

120. Young lady?

121. People finish their day

122. and hurry home.

123. But sometimes they don't want to go straight back home,

124. so they drop in somewhere on the way home.

125. Have some.

134. It's an accomplishment.

135. I started the firm with my wife.

136. Two years ago,

137. I lost her.

138. I think I may have lost my passion after that.

139. Would you like ham cutlet?

140. Wait.

141. Not tonight.

142. I see.

143. An unusual day, huh?

144. I've found my little brother.

145. Really?

146. I'm happy for you.

147. He actually lives nearby.

148. - Really? Then— - No.

149. I've wanted to see him so badly,

150. but I got intimidated when the moment arrived.

151. Why?

152. The other day,

153. I talked about the game Othello, right?

154. Yeah.

155. You played against your brother for ham cutlets.

156. I always won

157. and made my brother pay for ham cutlets.

158. He ran out of his allowance

159. and extorted money

160. from his classmate.

161. When the school found out,

162. he was questioned.

163. But he didn't say anything about our game.

164. He protected me.

165. I guess...

166. he didn't want to upset his newly-acquired big brother.

167. My father hit him so hard

168. as punishment.

169. I felt so guilty.

170. It was my fault.

171. I watched silently as my brother...

172. was beaten.

173. I was scared of my father.

174. I was afraid that he might abandon me.

175. Just like my real mother.

176. My little brother...

177. smiled at me

178. when my eyes met his,

179. as he was being beaten.

180. He was saying:

181. "I'm okay."

182. You can't shake the guilty feeling, huh?

183. Well...

184. my remorse is

185. like a hangnail, nothing too serious.

186. They say...

187. that you might get tetanus

188. if you don't treat the hangnail.

189. Go away!

190. Go away, asshole!

191. Don't upset him.

192. Go away!

193. Let's discuss it over there.

194. Who the hell are you?

195. If you don't go, you'll get wet.

196. Kenta.

197. It's me.

198. Long time, no see.

199. Big brother?

200. Really? You're a lawyer, huh?

201. I'm proud of you.

202. I failed the bar exam so many times,

203. you shouldn't be proud.

204. - Here you go. - Just like the good old days.

205. Let's eat.

206. It's delicious.

207. How long are you planning to stay there?

208. Why do you ask?

209. The electricity and gas were already cut off.

210. How can you survive?

211. Leave me alone.

212. This doesn't concern you.

213. They will start the demolition soon.

214. They will...

215. remove you by force.

216. Go ahead. I'm not worried.

217. Even if I'm torn apart by a power shovel,

218. I won't leave that place.

219. You're still so stubborn, huh?

220. Is this...?

221. It's the one we played with.

222. I kept it.

223. Master, you don't mind if I open it here?

224. Not at all.

225. What do you think? Want to play?

226. Play for what?

227. If you win,

228. I will buy as many ham cutlets as you want.

229. And beer.

230. If I win,

231. you must leave the apartment.

232. It is not the best place for you to live anymore.

233. Fine. Then I'll beat you.

234. Brother,

235. I'm better now.

236. We shall see.

237. When I grow up, I'll be rich and build a huge house.

238. And live with Mom.

239. Brother, you can live with me.

240. Dad can't, because he beats Mom.

241. Good. I won. Go and buy the usual ones.

242. Give me another chance. If I lose again, then I'll buy.

243. - Please. - No. Crying won't erase your loss.

244. Fine. I go and buy it, right?

245. I'll win the next one anyway.

246. This one... and this one.

247. Is the house we used to live in still there?

248. No. It's gone.

249. A tall building stands there now.

250. I see.

251. Why is that apartment so important to you?

252. I've lived there for most of my life.

253. Mother died there.

254. I'll die there, too.

255. You haven't changed much.

256. You have no strategy for playing this game.

257. I'm not interested in a tiny victory.

258. I still have a chance to come from behind to win.

259. Oh, no...

260. Here you go.

261. Do I have to pass?

262. Look.

263. I lost.

264. What's wrong with you, brother?

265. Did you lose it to your old age?

266. Master, beer, please.

267. - Two bottles. - Sure.

268. Don't be bothered. I'll get them myself.

269. Let me open it.

270. Master, would you like some beer?

271. - What do you say? - But...

272. - Go ahead. - I'm really sorry.

273. You can't do that.

274. "Crying won't erase your loss." You always said that.

275. I just watched while my father beat you up.

276. I'm so sorry.

277. It was a long time ago. I forgot about it.

278. I will negotiate with the government

279. and get you the best compensation

280. in return for vacating the apartment.

281. I'm a lawyer.

282. Let me do what I can.

283. Come on. I won.

284. That's not what we agreed on.

285. I've already found a new place for you.

286. It's smaller than your current place,

287. but it's tidy and has good sunlight.

288. And the rent is cheap.

289. If you don't like it, I can find another.

290. Or you can live with me...

291. if you don't mind.

292. I have an extra room anyway.

293. Both of us are single.

294. Would it be so bad to spend a quiet retirement life together?

295. We can play Othello once in a while.

296. Idiot!

297. Don't spoil me.

298. Just think about it.

299. - See you later. - Thank you.

300. - Bye. - Hey, brother.

301. After that,

302. Mr. Nakatsuka negotiated with the government

303. and brought both sides to terms on how to solve the issue.

304. His brother finally agreed to leave the apartment.

305. That means...

306. I was preparing to live with him at my place.

307. But he wanted to take the biggest gamble of his life

308. with the compensation money for his forced removal.

309. And he won big at a casino

310. and bought a mansion with a pool overseas.

311. Unbelievable.

312. He wants...

313. me to go over there and live with him.

314. Are you going?

315. - Hello. - Welcome.

316. Mr. Nakatsuka, regarding the case from the other day...

317. I have some information here.

318. My friend has a personal debt issue

319. and I want to ask Mr. Nakatsuka for advice.

320. Even though I closed the office, I still have a license.

321. I can still work.

322. Let's see...

323. This document is here.

324. This is a table of contents.

325. Both of you have a good look.

326. When you make ham cutlets,

327. most importantly, make sure that the flour doesn't get lumpy.

328. Coat it with bread crumbs evenly and firmly.

329. Here you go.

330. What's the best strategy to win?

331. I don't know.
