1. Bye-bye, Devil.

2. And, hello, precious bed.

3. Mornin', Mommy.

4. Uh-uh-uh, where is your silk bonnet, Lu?

5. You mean my silk nuts and bolts holder?

6. Lunella Lafayette,

7. it's time you took proper care of your hair.

8. But that's what I've got you for.

9. You know you love doing it.

10. I do, baby.

11. But don't even try it!

12. You're 13.

13. Old enough to know that to love your hair is to love yourself.

14. Oh, c'mon, Ma. It's just hair.

15. Just hair?

16. - Just hair? - Ugh, not...

17. - The Lunella Wall of Fame. - The Lunella Wall of Fame!

18. I look at this and remember who you were in each moment.

19. Here, you were my curious, curly-haired baby.

20. My talented and twisted first-grader.

21. My bold and braided fourth-grader.

22. My calculating and cornrowed seventh-grader—

23. Please stop.

24. See, it's not "just hair," sweetie.

25. It's a part of you.

26. So when you take your school picture in a few days,

27. these precious puffs will help us remember

28. who you are right now.

29. Well, right now, I'm the girl who's gonna be late for school.

30. I should get dressed first.

31. Oh, Lafayette!

32. Hey, I may need an assist on the lesson today.

33. Like, you may need to teach it.

34. Oh, you know, I got you, Coach Hrbek.

35. Case! Since when are you in this science class?

36. Oh, I'm not.

37. I just needed to consult on my picture day outfit.

38. Sunny. Spicy.

39. Sunny. Spicy.

40. Sunny. Spicy.

41. - Sunny— - Casey. Hit it, girl.

42. Please. Always go spicy.

43. But I still don't get all the fuss about picture day.

44. My mom went in on me about how my hair looked this morning.

45. - That's ridiculous. - Right?

46. Thank you, girl.

47. I mean, your hair always looks messy like that.

48. Uh... (scoffs) Say what now?

49. Like how it stands on end all frizzy.

50. But that's the look you're going for, right?

51. Don't listen to her, Lu.

52. Yo, Clueless, after school.

53. In my office— Okay, so...

54. robots!

55. We're building 'em.

56. Uh, maybe it wouldn't hurt to try a new hairstyle for picture day.

57. More fly and less frizz.

58. Lunella, your hair is fly as it is.

59. Yeah, but I need picture day fly, you know.

60. I need some of that!

61. For the record, I love your natural hair.

62. But, since you insist...

63. welcome to my lab.

64. Okay, chica.

65. Say hello to your brand-new do!

66. More like "yo" to your bad fro!

67. It's way too poofy, Casey!

68. Yeah, the curls are strong with this one.

69. Maybe you should leave this to the professionals...

70. - ... with the hair goop. - A relaxer?

71. Oh, no. My mama not having it.

72. She's scared of the chemicals for some reason.

73. Oh, what's this, Ma?

74. Ugh!

75. If only some super genius could bioengineer

76. a mega-strength hair straightening product

77. without the harsh chemicals.

78. Wait a minute...

79. Moon Girl Magic.

80. What do you mean you have a bad feeling?

81. I have to do this.

82. Give my creation...

83. juice!

84. Yes, yes.

85. A little help, D?

86. Yes!

87. Look. At. That. Swang!

88. Watch out I.S. 833!

89. Ya girl got more silk than a worm,

90. and she's gonna slay picture day.

91. All right.

92. Go ahead, Devil, tell me how cute I am.

93. Come on, don't hold back.

94. What's wrong?

95. Shh! Casey! Casey! Shh!

96. My bad.

97. Okay. I'm done.

98. Que te paso?

99. I thought you weren't gonna use harsh chemicals.

100. Well, yeah.

101. I made my all-natural hair straightener,

102. but I supercharged it and somehow

103. changed the molecular structure.

104. Just say you used too much juice.

105. I used too much doggone juice.

106. Yeah, you did.

107. You guys okay?

108. I heard yelling.

109. Oh, Hey, Mom. Yeah. We're fine.

110. We're just screaming and giggling

111. like normal teen girlies who aren't hiding anything!

112. It's so fun being a youth.

113. Hey, yeah.

114. Who gave you that ridiculous lid?

115. The hat from our matching Halloween costumes!

116. I knew you'd come around! Should I get mine?

117. I'm gon— I'm gonna get mine.

118. What is going on in here?

119. We're, uh...

120. having a silly hat contest!

121. See, we're fine in here.

122. So, you guys...

123. go do you.

124. Out there.

125. You know Lu, bald is not a bad look on you.

126. Seriously, it brings out your eyes!

127. Oh, my family cannot find out about my hair.

128. And picture day is coming!

129. Oh, my mom's gonna wig out.

130. That's it!

131. Let's just say I went through a wig phase.

132. You're so weird, Casey.

133. Thank goodness!

134. Okay. Let's do this!

135. - Crista. - Nope.

136. - Melva. - Oh, yikes.

137. - Roxy. - Whack.

138. - Tish. - Fright.

139. - Veruca. - Crazy.

140. - Sheba - Yes.

141. Oh, welcome home, Sheba!

142. Duty calls!

143. Time to take my girl for a test drive.

144. You won't catch me, Moon Girl!

145. I am the baddest that's ever been, baby!

146. Faster, D!

147. Rockin' Rudy's getting away in that souped-up coupe!

148. Oh! Sorry.

149. My helmet doesn't fit right with this slippery wig.

150. Not that I don't love it!

151. Are y'all coming for these jewels or not?

152. I ain't gonna just give em to you.

153. Later, gator!

154. Oh, I can't see!

155. Have a nice trip!

156. Devil?

157. Oh, Devil. You're hurt.

158. Hey, what's this?

159. It looks like... hair.

160. I'm running an analysis on the hair I found as we speak.

161. I'll know who's behind the sabotage

162. by the time my robot takes first place.

163. Speaking of which, girl,

164. why are you still in my science class?

165. It's fun!

166. Don't worry, I'm not learning anything.

167. Hey, your hair is... pretty now.

168. Aw, thanks, girly, but I prefer "fierce."

169. So fierce!

170. All right. All right. Game day, people.

171. Let's see those robots!

172. Oh, my precious!

173. Whoa! Is that hair?

174. Oh, even I know this isn't right.

175. Someone's out to get me.

176. And they used hair to destroy my robot.

177. See.

178. - I just need more time to— - More time?

179. Can't believe I'm saying this, but you're out!

180. Oh, no.

181. Uh, Lu.

182. According to your pocket thingy, this is your hair.

183. Oh, what's that smell?

184. Sheba!

185. Sheba!

186. Hey, you cookin' somethin', baby girl?

187. No! I'm not really cooking.

188. Oh, it's okay.

189. Midnight snacking runs in our family.

190. Why is that awful smell coming from my kitchen?

191. Mimi, don't make her feel bad.

192. Ooh, that Sheba smells great, Lunella.

193. - No, no, guys, I— - Who's Sheba?

194. It's that stuff she's cooking.

195. She's not cooking, she's burning.

196. - Here, let me help you, child. - What ch'all doin'?

197. I'm getting a bowl of that Sheba, 'cause I'm hungry.

198. Everybody stop!

199. I...

200. I spent a lot of time on my Sheba soup,

201. and I'd like to eat it alone...

202. - please? - Okay.

203. Oh, so she can have a whole pot of soup,

204. but when I don't want to share my birthday cake,

205. it's a problem.

206. Okay. That was too close.

207. Casey, so sorry to bug you this late,

208. but you're not gonna believe—

209. Oh, I am wide awake.

210. Someone trashed Coiffure de Casey,

211. and they cut my wigs to shreds!

212. No, they didn't.

213. Oh, it's gonna take me days to give each of them

214. a proper send-off.

215. I'll see you at picture day.

216. You always think you'll have more time.

217. Oh, I'm telling you, D, the same person ruined

218. my robot, made you fall, and destroyed Casey's wigs.

219. And we're gonna search every warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse,

220. outhouse, and doghouse in this city until I find—

221. Me. - What the—

222. Devil.

223. Who are you?

224. Why, I'm your hair, Lunella.

225. My hair?

226. Well, I was your hair,

227. your naturally curly crowning glory.

228. Now I'm the baddest super-villain there is.

229. I'm Mane. Mane.

230. Unwittingly created when our favorite 13-year-old

231. super-genius went all Dr. Frankenstein

232. trying to bio-engineer a hair straightener.

233. Oh, wait, you already saw that part.

234. Anyway, she really is mad, y'all.

235. My compound did this?

236. Dang, I created life.

237. Huh, Black girl magic!

238. After you burned me and ripped at me with a tiny comb!

239. You have to use a wide-toothed comb

240. on naturally curly hair! Who doesn't know that?

241. Well, Newton never mentioned wide-toothed combs!

242. I'm sorry, girl!

243. Sorry? You tried to get rid of me!

244. Replaced me with some cheap wig that doesn't even

245. have a lace front!

246. You just decided out of the blue that I wasn't good enough.

247. - Why? - Well, I—

248. Be quiet! Answer the question!

249. Well, see, I— I said silence!

250. - Well? - I'm so confused.

251. You turned me into a monster.

252. Now, I'll take your compound and make monsters of my own.

253. My hair minions and I will destroy this city!

254. Stop! Don't do this! No!

255. Your two-ton vat is ruining my evil exit!

256. You really are the worst, Moon Girl.

257. What's the matter, Lu?

258. What in the world?

259. Oh, my baby's head. It's bald.

260. There was this jerk in class...

261. and I felt unpretty, and then I supercharged

262. the amino acids and now I look like this!

263. Oh, my poor baby.

264. Sweetheart, we live in a society

265. that's never valued our natural hair.

266. People tend to criticize what they don't understand,

267. so they tell us our natural hair is sloppy,

268. unkempt, unprofessional, or even ugly.

269. But they're wrong.

270. Our hair is versatile, textured, beautiful,

271. political, powerful, bold.

272. It reflects our culture, who we are

273. and what we've been through.

274. Hmm. Someone at school said my Afro puffs looked messy.

275. And when we believe those lies and start to feel

276. insecure about how we look, that's when the trouble starts.

277. That's how it started for me.

278. I wanted my hair straight so badly,

279. but regular heat wouldn't get it straight enough.

280. So I made that hot comb extra hot.

281. What I did to my hair was even worse.

282. I gave myself a home relaxer,

283. but I skipped an important step.

284. And then... disaster.

285. So that's why you're afraid of relaxers!

286. Wait, what step did you skip?

287. The neutralizer.

288. It's a liquid that you put in your hair

289. to make the chemical in the relaxer stop working.

290. Oh, that's it! I didn't make a neutralizer!

291. That was my mistake!

292. Your real mistake was letting other people

293. make you feel bad about yourself.

294. Always be proud of who you are, little girl,

295. no matter what the world tells you.

296. And remember, Lunella, if you want your hair

297. to be good to you, you've got to be good to it.

298. Because to love your hair is to love yourself.

299. Where are you going?

300. I've got to go stop Mane.

301. Stop maintaining these hurt feelings

302. and start taking better care of my hair.

303. Bye!

304. I did it, Devil!

305. I reversed the electrostatic attraction between

306. the oppositely charged ions in my original compound!

307. In other words...

308. Now, all we gotta do is find Mane's hideout,

309. spray her with this juice, and she goes back

310. to being a big old, normal hairball.

311. The Hair Lair?

312. That's so Mane.

313. Remember, a sneak attack is our best chance,

314. so I'll go in here, you go in through the alley.

315. Quietly.

316. Huh! D!

317. You were supposed to sneak in!

318. Neutralizer?

319. To stop you, Mane.

320. Devil Dryersaur! Attack!

321. Devil Dryersaur?

322. You jammed a dryer full of hair

323. and brought it to life with my compound?

324. I needed a sidekick to laugh at my jokes.

325. Which he would if he understood them,

326. but he's not that smart.

327. But he is vicious!

328. He and I together will destroy—oh, man.

329. Look, Mane.

330. Your sidekick was no match for Devil.

331. And you're no match for me.

332. Oh, really? How about now?

333. Give it up, Mane!

334. Don't bother, honey.

335. If there's one thing I can do, it's bob and weave.

336. I know, Devil!

337. But what did— what did he say?

338. That we're too evenly matched,

339. and I'm going to be here forever fighting myself.

340. Wait. I-I'm fighting myself.

341. Always be proud of who you are, little girl,

342. because to love your hair is to love yourself.

343. I don't want to fight you anymore, Mane,

344. because you're a part of me.

345. I was a part of you until you ruined it.

346. Actually, you were one of the best parts!

347. My hair helped make me, me!

348. You never took care of me!

349. You never gave a hair flip about me!

350. I know. Okay, you're right.

351. I took you for granted.

352. I didn't know I could lose you until you were gone.

353. I'm not falling for your trickery, Moon Girl!

354. It's not a trick, okay.

355. When that girl made fun of me, I felt ashamed.

356. That's why I made the stupid compound.

357. But when I wore that straight hair,

358. it just—it wasn't me.

359. I miss my natural hair.

360. - You do? - Sure.

361. I miss how my curls bounced,

362. and how my hair fits perfectly inside my helmet.

363. My signature style makes me look adorable

364. and manages to stay on point no matter how fast I skate!

365. I miss all of that, Mane...

366. and I miss you.

367. I miss you, too, Lunella.

368. We were a great team.

369. And we will be again!

370. Go ahead, Big Red.

371. Be good to me, Lunella, and I'll be good to you!

372. - Uh, gorgeous! - Oh, muy bonita.

373. Still can't believe you made an instant hair growth serum!

374. Now, that's some Black Girl Magic.

375. Right?

376. Oh, that's my girl.

377. Don't y'all stay up too late.

378. Sorry I missed all sixty-seven of your wig funerals.

379. - You okay? - It was time to let them go.

380. And besides, at least I still have Sheba.

381. Where is she, by the way?

382. Sheba!
