1. Oh, God.Copy !req
2. Wouldn't do that if I were you.Copy !req
3. Then again, maybe I would.Copy !req
4. The hell do I know
about Matt Murdock?Copy !req
5. - You stitched me up?
- Nope.Copy !req
6. That was your nurse friend.Copy !req
7. Claire?Copy !req
8. You had me get a hold of herCopy !req
9. after you took a swing at me
for trying to get you to the hospital.Copy !req
10. I don't remember.Copy !req
11. Sorry.Copy !req
12. She was hot, by the way.Copy !req
13. But I guess you already knew that, huh?Copy !req
14. - Foggy...
- Just tell me one thing, Matt.Copy !req
15. Are you even really blind?Copy !req
16. God damn it! Come on!Copy !req
17. Load. Load!Copy !req
18. - What?
- Excuse me, is this room 312?Copy !req
19. Yeah, who're you looking for?Copy !req
20. Oh, uh, sorry.Copy !req
21. - What for?
- You're blind, right?Copy !req
22. Uh, yeah, so they tell me.Copy !req
23. - I hope that won't be a problem.
- Why would it?Copy !req
24. Oh!Copy !req
25. You're... You're my roomie!Copy !req
26. Uh, Matt Murdock.Copy !req
27. Foggy Nelson.Copy !req
28. Wait, Matt Murdock?
Are you...Copy !req
29. You're not from Hell's Kitchen,
are you?Copy !req
30. Yeah, born and raised.Copy !req
31. So am I!Copy !req
32. Yeah, I heard about you
when you were a kid,Copy !req
33. what you did,
saving that guy crossing the street.Copy !req
34. Yeah, I...
I just did what anyone would have.Copy !req
35. Bullshit. You are a hero.Copy !req
36. I'm really not.Copy !req
37. Come on! You got your peepers
knocked out saving that old dude.Copy !req
38. They didn't get knocked out.Copy !req
39. Good,Copy !req
40. 'cause that would be
a little freaky. But no offence.Copy !req
41. Please, none taken. Uh...Copy !req
42. Most people dance around me
like I'm made of glass. I hate that.Copy !req
43. Yeah, you're just a guy, right?Copy !req
44. A really,
really good-looking guy.Copy !req
45. Oh, um...Copy !req
46. I mean, girls must love that,
the wholeCopy !req
47. wounded, handsome duck thing.Copy !req
48. - Am I right?
- Right.Copy !req
49. Yeah, it's been known to happen.Copy !req
50. This is gonna be awesome!Copy !req
51. What is?Copy !req
52. Me as your wingman!Copy !req
53. You're gonna open up a whole calibre
of women I've only dreamed of.Copy !req
54. A lot!Copy !req
55. We're gonna be
like Maverick and Goose!Copy !req
56. Okay.Copy !req
57. Oh, shit!Copy !req
58. Yes.Copy !req
59. I'm in!Copy !req
60. - In what?
- Punjabi. I got the last spot.Copy !req
61. You're taking Punjabi?Copy !req
62. It's spoken by 130 million people.
I'd like to know what they're saying.Copy !req
63. - That's the only reason?
- Well, yeah.Copy !req
64. I mean, why else would I learn it?Copy !req
65. I don't know, a girl, maybe?Copy !req
66. See? This is what I'm talking about.Copy !req
67. Me and you,
Maverick and Goose, no secrets.Copy !req
68. Goose died,
and he was married.Copy !req
69. Details.Copy !req
70. Hey, do you know a good place
to get a cup of coffee on campus?Copy !req
71. - No.
- Well, lucky for you, I do.Copy !req
72. And it's filled with luscious coeds.
Shall we?Copy !req
73. Yeah, lead the way.Copy !req
74. So, you can see.Copy !req
75. That's not... You're not...Copy !req
76. Are you even listening
to what I'm saying?Copy !req
77. Yeah, world on fire, I got it.
But you can see, right?Copy !req
78. Yeah, in a manner of speaking.
But I...Copy !req
79. No! No manner!Copy !req
80. How many fingers am I holding up?Copy !req
81. One.Copy !req
82. All these years,
I actually felt sorry for you.Copy !req
83. I didn't ask for that. I never...
I never asked for that.Copy !req
84. Yeah, I didn't ask to be lied to.Copy !req
85. - I thought we were friends.
- We are.Copy !req
86. You've lied to me, Matt,
since the day we met.Copy !req
87. What did you expect me to say, Foggy?Copy !req
88. "Hi, I'm Matt. I got some chemicals
splashed in my eyes when I was a kidCopy !req
89. "that gave me heightened senses."Copy !req
90. Well, maybe not lead with that.Copy !req
91. I didn't even tell my dad
after it happened.Copy !req
92. But you told that nurse, Claire.Copy !req
93. Because I didn't have a choice.Copy !req
94. She found me in a dumpster, all right?
Half dead.Copy !req
95. She didn't...
She didn't tell you?Copy !req
96. She wouldn't say anything about all this.Copy !req
97. She seemed nice.Copy !req
98. She is.Copy !req
99. Did you blow up those buildings?
Shoot those cops?Copy !req
100. You really even need to ask that?Copy !req
101. Yeah, I think I do.Copy !req
102. It was Fisk.Copy !req
103. It was all Fisk.Copy !req
104. - He did this to you?
- He and Nobu.Copy !req
105. Nobu?Copy !req
106. Yeah, I think he's some kind of ninja.Copy !req
107. A ninja.Copy !req
108. I think.Copy !req
109. What are you doing, Matt?Copy !req
110. You're a lawyer.
You're supposed to be helping people.Copy !req
111. I am.Copy !req
112. In a mask!Copy !req
113. Do you know what they call that?
A vigilante.Copy !req
114. Someone who acts outside of the law.Copy !req
115. Karen. Karen.Copy !req
116. Karen. Karen. Karen.Copy !req
117. Foggy, Foggy, Foggy.Copy !req
118. - She deserves to know.
- You can't tell her, Foggy, please.Copy !req
119. Is this what you do?Copy !req
120. When we call, trying to get
you to come out for drinks?Copy !req
121. Trying to find you when bombs
are going off and we're worried?Copy !req
122. Voicemail.Copy !req
123. You just hit ignore?Copy !req
124. No.Copy !req
125. - It's her again.
- Please, Foggy.Copy !req
126. - Hey.
- Hey.Copy !req
127. I tried calling Matt.
Where are you guys?Copy !req
128. We're at his place.Copy !req
129. Is everything okay?Copy !req
130. No, Matt was...Copy !req
131. Matt was in an accident.Copy !req
132. Oh, my God.Copy !req
133. What happened?Copy !req
134. He was in a car accident.Copy !req
135. - Matt was driving?
- No, he, um...Copy !req
136. He got hit.Copy !req
137. Well, is he all right?
Look, I... I'm coming over.Copy !req
138. No, stay at the office.
We need you there.Copy !req
139. - There's nothing you can do here.
- Okay.Copy !req
140. - Foggy...
- I got this, Karen.Copy !req
141. I'll call you if we need anything.Copy !req
142. Thank you.Copy !req
143. Screw you. I just lied
to somebody that I care about.Copy !req
144. I want to know everything.Copy !req
145. And don't you leave
a damn thing out.Copy !req
146. I speak your tongue now.Copy !req
147. So there is no mistaking my words.Copy !req
148. There is conflict within you.Copy !req
149. Conflict?Copy !req
150. Man cannot be both
saviour and oppressor,Copy !req
151. light and shadow.Copy !req
152. One has to be sacrificed for the other.Copy !req
153. Choose, and choose wisely.Copy !req
154. Or others shall choose for you.Copy !req
155. Hello, gorgeous.Copy !req
156. Hello, handsome.Copy !req
157. Mmm...Copy !req
158. You're wearing that aftershave.Copy !req
159. - You remember?
- Of course, I do.Copy !req
160. Always got me going.Copy !req
161. I've missed you.Copy !req
162. They say anything?Copy !req
163. They, um...Copy !req
164. They think you're improving.Copy !req
165. What are you working on?Copy !req
166. Uh...Copy !req
167. It's nothing. Just, uh,Copy !req
168. outsmarted by a story.Copy !req
169. You'll figure it out. Always do.Copy !req
170. There are more important things
than the job right now.Copy !req
171. I should be here with you, not, uh,Copy !req
172. chasing down leads,
getting my ass in trouble.Copy !req
173. Your name is Ben Urich,Copy !req
174. and you are a reporter.Copy !req
175. It's not a job.
It's who you are.Copy !req
176. I don't know.Copy !req
177. This was 20 years ago, maybe.Copy !req
178. I was more fearless then.Copy !req
179. Don't see much of that guy now.Copy !req
180. When we first met,
you weren't fearless.Copy !req
181. You were reckless, pushy.Copy !req
182. You were all about making a big splash,
turning heads.Copy !req
183. You certainly turned mine.Copy !req
184. But that's not who you were
always supposed to be.Copy !req
185. Experience made you more careful,Copy !req
186. wise.Copy !req
187. I don't know, Ben Urich,Copy !req
188. I think your best work is still ahead.Copy !req
189. You keep sweet-talking,
I'm gonna climb in there with you.Copy !req
190. Doris?Copy !req
191. Baby?Copy !req
192. Hello, gorgeous.Copy !req
193. Hello, handsome.Copy !req
194. Ben?Copy !req
195. I'll be right back.Copy !req
196. Is this about the extension?Copy !req
197. Let's speak outside, yeah?Copy !req
198. - I'm sorry.
- How do you knowCopy !req
199. you did everything?Copy !req
200. I did everything.Copy !req
201. The hell you get all this crap?Copy !req
202. The Internet.Copy !req
203. The Internet.Copy !req
204. Thought you long-underwear types
stitched these together yourselves.Copy !req
205. I never learnt how to sew.Copy !req
206. But you learnt how to fight.Copy !req
207. That news footage of you,
in the alley, after the bombings,Copy !req
208. the way you were flipping around.Copy !req
209. Your dad was a boxer.Copy !req
210. He didn't teach you
any of that stuff, did he?Copy !req
211. He didn't want me to fight.
You know that.Copy !req
212. So, how'd you get so good at it?Copy !req
213. An old man named Stick.Copy !req
214. You're shitting me.Copy !req
215. He found me at the orphanage.Copy !req
216. Blind like me.Copy !req
217. Well, almost like me.Copy !req
218. A blind old man taught you
the ancient ways of martial arts.Copy !req
219. Isn't that the plot to Kung Fu?Copy !req
220. I know how it sounds.Copy !req
221. I don't think that you do.Copy !req
222. He did more than start my training.Copy !req
223. He taught me that my blindness
wasn't a disability,Copy !req
224. that sight was a distraction.Copy !req
225. He helped me understand
everything I could do.Copy !req
226. Define "everything."Copy !req
227. - It's hard to explain, Foggy.
- My abilities...Copy !req
228. I just know things, okay?Copy !req
229. No, not okay.Copy !req
230. Can you read my mind?
Can you predict the future? What?Copy !req
231. What things do you just know?Copy !req
232. I know you haven't showered
since yesterday morning.Copy !req
233. But you rinsed your face
in my kitchen sink.Copy !req
234. I know you had onions
in your lunch two days ago.Copy !req
235. I know you're hungry, and tired.Copy !req
236. And I know the more I say,
the faster your heart beats.Copy !req
237. You can hear a heartbeat?
From across the room?Copy !req
238. Helps to anticipate behaviour.Copy !req
239. When someone's gonna attack,
when they're lying.Copy !req
240. That's how you knew
Karen was telling the truth,Copy !req
241. - when we first met her at the precinct.
- Yeah.Copy !req
242. You listened to her heartbeat
without her permission?Copy !req
243. We're lawyers!
You can't do that!Copy !req
244. There's a system in place,
and it's weird and invasive and...Copy !req
245. Wait.Copy !req
246. Are you telling me that
since I've known you,Copy !req
247. any time I wasn't telling the truth,
you knew?Copy !req
248. And what, you just played along?Copy !req
249. Basically.Copy !req
250. If you weren't half dead,
I would kick your ass, Murdock.Copy !req
251. Am I lying about that?Copy !req
252. No.Copy !req
253. Was anything ever real with us?Copy !req
254. Watch out, everybody!
I'm Blind Matt Murdock! Whoa!Copy !req
255. Most... Most people just say,
"Matt Murdock."Copy !req
256. I look like most people?Copy !req
257. I don't know, I can't see you.Copy !req
258. Well, at the moment,
that may be a blessing.Copy !req
259. Oh, God,
we should be studying.Copy !req
260. You're gonna graduate
summa cum laude,Copy !req
261. you can take a night off, you nerd!Copy !req
262. Yup, you'd be...Copy !req
263. You'd be graduating with that, too,
if you took a few less nights off.Copy !req
264. Point being,
we are both one day gonna beCopy !req
265. fine, upstanding members
of the legal profession.Copy !req
266. El grande...
How do you say "lawyers" in Spanish?Copy !req
267. Lawyers? Abogados.Copy !req
268. El grande avocados!Copy !req
269. That's not Spanish, that's fruit.Copy !req
270. - That's fruit.
- It's a vegetable at best.Copy !req
271. See, that's what you get for taking
Punjabi instead of Spanish with me,Copy !req
272. - just to chase a girl.
- What? No!Copy !req
273. I'm sorry.Copy !req
274. I'll have you know that Punjabi
is the future language of the future,Copy !req
275. of business.Copy !req
276. Couple years,
we'll all be speaking it.Copy !req
277. And she was so hot.
She was so hot!Copy !req
278. Yeah, say that in Punjabi.Copy !req
279. - God! Shut up! Kiss my ass.
- You can't speak...Copy !req
280. No! No, no, no, no.Copy !req
281. Are you trying to tell me
that you didn't take SpanishCopy !req
282. - to snuggle up to what's-her-name...
- What?Copy !req
283. the Greek girl?Copy !req
284. Well, I... Surely I would take Greek?Copy !req
285. No, because she was taking Spanish.
She already spoke Greek.Copy !req
286. Whatever happened to her?
She was smokin'.Copy !req
287. Man, it didn't work out.Copy !req
288. When does it ever with you, buddy?
How can I help you?Copy !req
289. What are you
looking for, my young Padawan?Copy !req
290. I don't know.Copy !req
291. I guess just someone
I really like listening to.Copy !req
292. - Where are those stairs?
- Stairs, here.Copy !req
293. I would like to sit now.Copy !req
294. Yes, we sit!Copy !req
295. And then we forage for hamburgersCopy !req
296. and more libations!Copy !req
297. How about just the burgers?Copy !req
298. Lightweight!Copy !req
299. Hey, do you get the spins?Copy !req
300. - Can you get those if you can't see?
- Yeah, I get the spins.Copy !req
301. - Really?
- Yeah, it's...Copy !req
302. It's an equilibrium thing,
it's not your eyes.Copy !req
303. Liquid in your inner ear gets disturbed,
has trouble levelling off or something.Copy !req
304. Huh.Copy !req
305. That sucks. I thought
you might get a pass on that one.Copy !req
306. No, it's even worse for me, I think.Copy !req
307. 'Cause my senses are so... Are...Copy !req
308. Mmm.Copy !req
309. - So what? Delicate?
- Hmm?Copy !req
310. Yeah, you could say that.Copy !req
311. Hey, how old were you
when you had your first drink?Copy !req
312. - Nine.
- Nine?Copy !req
313. Lush.Copy !req
314. My dad gave me a sip
from this bottle of Scotch.Copy !req
315. Go, Dad!Copy !req
316. He didn't want my hands shaking
while I stitched him up.Copy !req
317. He got cut pretty bad over his eye.
Boxing match.Copy !req
318. He win?Copy !req
319. No.Copy !req
320. - He'd be proud of you, buddy.
- Thanks, man.Copy !req
321. All he ever wanted was for me
to use my head, not my fists.Copy !req
322. Not like him.Copy !req
323. My mom wanted me to be a butcher.Copy !req
324. I think she liked the idea of free ham.Copy !req
325. Hey, they coming to graduation?
Your family?Copy !req
326. The whole extended brood.Copy !req
327. It's not every dayCopy !req
328. a Nelson breaks from the ranks
of hardware and cured meats.Copy !req
329. Franklin Nelson for the defence,
Your Honour.Copy !req
330. Defence! I like that.
There's money in that.Copy !req
331. Oh, come on.
Is that all you care about?Copy !req
332. No. No.Copy !req
333. Truth and justice and all of that.Copy !req
334. Couple of bucks?Copy !req
335. Me and you, pal.Copy !req
336. We're gonna have big,
fancy offices one day,Copy !req
337. with steel and glass and chairs
you don't even know how to sit in.Copy !req
338. Murdock and Nelson,
attorneys at law!Copy !req
339. Nelson and Murdock.
Sounds better.Copy !req
340. - You think?
- Yeah, trust me.Copy !req
341. I can't see worth shit,
but my hearing's spectacular.Copy !req
342. Me and you, pal,
we're gonna do this.Copy !req
343. We're gonna be the best damn
avocados this city has ever seen.Copy !req
344. Best damn avocados.Copy !req
345. Let's get the hell out of here, come on.Copy !req
346. - You're strong.
- I work out.Copy !req
347. Hey, got a minute?Copy !req
348. Yeah.Copy !req
349. Caldwell says you, uh, handed
the fundraiser piece off to her.Copy !req
350. I had something come up.
Going to be a problem?Copy !req
351. I don't know. You tell me.Copy !req
352. It's personal. You mind?Copy !req
353. Just...Copy !req
354. Just checking.Copy !req
355. Haverson cornered me
in the bathroom this morning.Copy !req
356. This something I'm gonna wanna hear?Copy !req
357. Maybe. He's packing it in,
the end of the month.Copy !req
358. Wants to spend quality time with
his grandkids or some such bullshit.Copy !req
359. Metro could use you.Copy !req
360. It's a good section.
No more running around.Copy !req
361. I'm no editor.Copy !req
362. I'm a reporter.Copy !req
363. Yeah, well, that's what I said.
Now, look how fancy I am.Copy !req
364. Like a damn peacock.Copy !req
365. Well, I'm... I'm just saying,Copy !req
366. be nice to keep the
wheels on the wagon.Copy !req
367. Get you a bump, better benefits.Copy !req
368. You know,
for whatever comes up.Copy !req
369. I'll think about it.Copy !req
370. Okay.
You know where to find me.Copy !req
371. Hey.Copy !req
372. Thanks.Copy !req
373. Just let me know,Copy !req
374. next couple of days, okay?Copy !req
375. Foggy, it's me, again.Copy !req
376. Call me back.
Um, it's important.Copy !req
377. - Shit!
- You're out of cream.Copy !req
378. Uh, yeah, I know.
It's, um... It's on my, uh...Copy !req
379. - How did you get in here?
- Front door.Copy !req
380. You jimmied it?Copy !req
381. Unlocked.Copy !req
382. I keep telling you,
you got to be more careful.Copy !req
383. I am.Copy !req
384. No, I... I am.Copy !req
385. I was going to call you.Copy !req
386. I was out getting lunch
and I thought, "What the hell,Copy !req
387. "I'll swing by the county clerk's office
and see what I can find."Copy !req
388. You gonna ask about the box?Copy !req
389. Is that yours?Copy !req
390. No, yours.Copy !req
391. Go ahead.
You've earned it.Copy !req
392. What the hell is this?Copy !req
393. Everything I have on the story.Copy !req
394. And why are you giving it to me?Copy !req
395. I used to be like you back in the day.Copy !req
396. Good at turning heads,
getting people's attention.Copy !req
397. Pissing them off.Copy !req
398. And that's half of it.Copy !req
399. But the other half
is knowing when not to.Copy !req
400. I thought that
we were past this.Copy !req
401. Do... Do I have to convince you
again just how important this is?Copy !req
402. I know how important it is, Karen.Copy !req
403. It's just not the most important.Copy !req
404. Not to me, not right now.Copy !req
405. Well, then where is this coming from?
Did something happen?Copy !req
406. - The extension didn't come through.
- Oh, Ben, I...Copy !req
407. I'm sorry.Copy !req
408. I made a few calls.Copy !req
409. This place,
I can't put her in here.Copy !req
410. No.Copy !req
411. Gonna take some time off
and bring her home.Copy !req
412. Come take a ride with me.Copy !req
413. Where?Copy !req
414. There's, um... There's a nursing home
that I just heard about upstate.Copy !req
415. Uh... I think it might change your mind.Copy !req
416. - Karen.
- No, just take a ride.Copy !req
417. Come on.
What could it hurt?Copy !req
418. Okay.Copy !req
419. You burnt him alive?Copy !req
420. Christ.Copy !req
421. I never laid a hand on Nobu.Copy !req
422. So, you manoeuvred that
masked idiot to take him out.Copy !req
423. Same result.Copy !req
424. - I need you to speak with Gao.
- Me?Copy !req
425. The hell am I gonna say to her?Copy !req
426. Reassure her, everything is fine.Copy !req
427. So, you want me to lie.Copy !req
428. Mmm, you weren't
particularly fond of Nobu.Copy !req
429. You thought he was unsettling,
if I recall.Copy !req
430. I think you're unsettling half the time.
See me lighting a match?Copy !req
431. Wesley,Copy !req
432. have the car brought around.Copy !req
433. Let Vanessa know we're on our way.Copy !req
434. Sir.Copy !req
435. This is getting out of hand.Copy !req
436. Ever since you started
seeing that woman...Copy !req
437. Leland.Copy !req
438. - You have a son, yes?
- You know I do.Copy !req
439. Which means at some point in the past,
I assume you met a woman,Copy !req
440. fell in love.Copy !req
441. - What does that have to do with this?
- Everything.Copy !req
442. Gao is right. You've changed.Copy !req
443. Change is inevitable,Copy !req
444. for me, this city,Copy !req
445. and certain relationships.Copy !req
446. All right.Copy !req
447. All right, I'll go speak with her.Copy !req
448. I appreciate your support in the matter.Copy !req
449. Sure, why not?Copy !req
450. We're all in this together, right?Copy !req
451. What's left of us.Copy !req
452. Yeah.Copy !req
453. Yeah, okay.
Thanks for reaching out.Copy !req
454. - That was Brett.
- What'd he say?Copy !req
455. You couldn't hear,
with your super whatever?Copy !req
456. It doesn't work like that.
I... I have to concentrate.Copy !req
457. Focus on letting it in.Copy !req
458. That junkie that killed Elena,Copy !req
459. - they found him.
- Good.Copy !req
460. Brett says he took a dive off the roof,
building he was shooting up in.Copy !req
461. They had to sponge him
off the sidewalk.Copy !req
462. - No.
- Did you do that?Copy !req
463. I told him to turn himself in.Copy !req
464. I can't hear your heartbeat.
Are you telling me the truth?Copy !req
465. I didn't kill him, Foggy.Copy !req
466. It's Fisk, covering his ass.Copy !req
467. So, you've never...
You've never gone that far?Copy !req
468. No.Copy !req
469. But I... I wanted to,Copy !req
470. after Elena,Copy !req
471. after everything Fisk had done, I...Copy !req
472. I went to a warehouse
I thought he'd be at.Copy !req
473. I went to kill him.Copy !req
474. It's not enough
playing judge and jury?Copy !req
475. You gotta add executioner to the list?Copy !req
476. I didn't think I had a choice.Copy !req
477. What happened to all that talk about
going after him through the system?Copy !req
478. Making the law work for us?Copy !req
479. Sometimes the law isn't enough.Copy !req
480. As you can see
in the countersuit,Copy !req
481. not only does my client
Roxxon Energy CorporationCopy !req
482. categorically deny
any culpability in your diagnosis,Copy !req
483. but also cites clear and
actionable breach of contractCopy !req
484. regarding your decision to share detailsCopy !req
485. of your highly sensitive work
in the Londonderry plant.Copy !req
486. And while my client is, uh,
sympathetic towards your condition,Copy !req
487. Roxxon must vigourously
defend its patentsCopy !req
488. in relation to the extraction
and refinement processCopy !req
489. that you, by admission,
had intimate knowledge of.Copy !req
490. In light of this,
we will be pursuing damages.Copy !req
491. Damages?Copy !req
492. You released
sensitive information regarding...Copy !req
493. The only person
I ever told anything to was my doctor.Copy !req
494. So that he could try to figure out
what was wrong with me.Copy !req
495. I didn't release anything.Copy !req
496. Give us a minute.Copy !req
497. - Hey.
- Hey.Copy !req
498. I just bumped into Morales.Copy !req
499. Guess what he heard?Copy !req
500. They're gonna offer us the job.Copy !req
501. No more interning in a broom closet.Copy !req
502. We're each going to have our own office
with a view of something.Copy !req
503. We did it, buddy!Copy !req
504. Glass and steel
at Landman and mother-effin' Zack...Copy !req
505. Why do you have that look on your face?Copy !req
506. Oh.Copy !req
507. - What look? I...
- You know what look.Copy !req
508. I've been reading Thurgood Marshall.Copy !req
509. Oh, shit, not Marshall.Copy !req
510. "We must dissent from the indifference.
We must dissent from the apathy.Copy !req
511. - "We must dissent from..."
- "From the fear." Yeah, I know.Copy !req
512. You've read it a million times.Copy !req
513. You think what happened
in there today was right?Copy !req
514. No, Matt, I don't think it was right.Copy !req
515. But according to the law,
if he did disclose trade secretsCopy !req
516. - to a third party other than his doctor...
- He didn't.Copy !req
517. How the hell do you know?Copy !req
518. 'Cause I... I have a feeling.Copy !req
519. Last time I checked,
those are inadmissible.Copy !req
520. Is this what you want,
to be a part of that?Copy !req
521. Protecting corporations
from people that need help?Copy !req
522. It doesn't have to be like that.Copy !req
523. We get a toehold, make partner...Copy !req
524. And then in 10, 15 years, we what?Copy !req
525. Change the system
from the inside?Copy !req
526. On our way to work in our Bentleys?Copy !req
527. You know how many of the other interns
would kill for a real spot here?Copy !req
528. Murder us in our sleep
without a second thought.Copy !req
529. Well, then maybe those aren't the kind
of people we should be working with.Copy !req
530. Foggy?Copy !req
531. What are you doing?Copy !req
532. Well,Copy !req
533. I'm gonna steal as many bagels
as I can fit in this box.Copy !req
534. With you as my partner,Copy !req
535. there's no telling when I'll be able
to afford a real meal again.Copy !req
536. We will get by.Copy !req
537. Come on, Mother Teresa,
let's go save the world.Copy !req
538. Hey.Copy !req
539. You want to say something.Copy !req
540. Really don't.Copy !req
541. Your breathing changes
when you're about to.Copy !req
542. Now you're just showing off.Copy !req
543. Say what you need to say.Copy !req
544. Why didn't you tell me
it was that serious?Copy !req
545. Saying it means it's true.Copy !req
546. She has her good moments.
Lucid ones, you know?Copy !req
547. And she's sharp and strong.Copy !req
548. More than me.Copy !req
549. But she always was.Copy !req
550. She was always...Copy !req
551. I'm sorry, Ben.Copy !req
552. Yeah.Copy !req
553. There's nothing worse,Copy !req
554. feeling choices are made for us.Copy !req
555. There's nothing you can do,
but swim in shitCopy !req
556. and hope you don't
get too much in your mouth.Copy !req
557. She'd like you.Copy !req
558. Should've taken you around
to meet her, but...Copy !req
559. Yeah.Copy !req
560. You know, we all have things
we hold onto for ourselves,Copy !req
561. that we don't want anyone to know.Copy !req
562. But there's always someone who does,Copy !req
563. sooner or later.Copy !req
564. Admissions is on another tour.Copy !req
565. Shouldn't be too long.Copy !req
566. - Thanks.
- Mmm-hmm.Copy !req
567. What are we doing here?Copy !req
568. I can't afford this place.
This is a waste of time.Copy !req
569. Let's just take a look around.Copy !req
570. Maybe it'll be worth the drive.Copy !req
571. You run around dressed like a moron,
beating people up!Copy !req
572. - It's not that simple and you know it.
- No, I don't know shit.Copy !req
573. Not about this. I mean, how...Copy !req
574. Okay, so you get these
whatever-you-call-themsCopy !req
575. when you're a kid.Copy !req
576. How do you go from that
to what you're doing now?Copy !req
577. When I was a kid, before the accident,Copy !req
578. I'd lay awake at night
listening to the sirens.Copy !req
579. I liked to put stories to them.Copy !req
580. Trying to figure out what they were for,
ambulance or cops, robbery or fire.Copy !req
581. I don't know, just a stupid game.Copy !req
582. But after I lost my sight,
after my abilities developed,Copy !req
583. I realised how many sirens
there actually were,Copy !req
584. how much this city suffered
every single night.Copy !req
585. You've been running around
doing this since you were a kid?Copy !req
586. No, I... I tried not to fight,Copy !req
587. to make my dad proud.
To... To block it out.Copy !req
588. The sirens, the pain, the fear,
all strangling Hell's Kitchen.Copy !req
589. For years,
I buried my head and turned away.Copy !req
590. Then one night,Copy !req
591. right after we quit Landman and Zack,Copy !req
592. - I heard it.
- Heard what?Copy !req
593. A little girl,Copy !req
594. crying in her bed,
in a building down the block.Copy !req
595. Her father liked to go to her room
late at nightCopy !req
596. when his wife was asleep.Copy !req
597. Oh, Jesus.Copy !req
598. I called Child Services,Copy !req
599. like you're supposed to.Copy !req
600. But the mom, she wouldn't believe it.Copy !req
601. Said it wasn't true.
And the dad, he was smart.Copy !req
602. He made sure what he did,
how he did it, didn't leave a mark.Copy !req
603. The law couldn't do anything
to help that little girl.Copy !req
604. But I could.Copy !req
605. I knew his routine.Copy !req
606. Waited till he was alone.Copy !req
607. You touch your daughter again,
and I will know.Copy !req
608. He spent the next month in a hospital,
eating through a straw.Copy !req
609. And I never slept better.Copy !req
610. You say all this,Copy !req
611. like one day you'd just had it
with how things are.Copy !req
612. But to do what you do,Copy !req
613. you had to keep training,
all those years since that Stick guy,Copy !req
614. knowing you would do
something like this.Copy !req
615. Maybe it isn't only about justice, Matt.Copy !req
616. Maybe it's about you
having an excuse to hit someone.Copy !req
617. Maybe you just can't stop yourself.Copy !req
618. I don't want to stop.Copy !req
619. You're very pretty.Copy !req
620. Thank you.Copy !req
621. Looks like you've
got yourself an admirer.Copy !req
622. All the people here,Copy !req
623. all the years that they've lived,
there must be so many stories.Copy !req
624. Only thing we have,
everything said and done.Copy !req
625. No buildings named after us,
fancy inheritances to leave behind,Copy !req
626. just the stories those who were
close to us tell to keep us alive.Copy !req
627. Even if it's just in memory.Copy !req
628. Well, maybe that's enough.Copy !req
629. Hey, um, why don't we talk to
somebody that actually lives here?Copy !req
630. See what it's really like.Copy !req
631. All right, let's get a...Copy !req
632. - Let's get an attendant or somebody.
- Or we could just knock.Copy !req
633. See?Copy !req
634. - Karen.
- Come in.Copy !req
635. She said, "Come in."Copy !req
636. Is it time?Copy !req
637. - Time for what?
- You know what.Copy !req
638. You bring it
before I go to bed every night.Copy !req
639. Oh.Copy !req
640. - I don't know you, do I?
- Oh...Copy !req
641. Uh, no. We, uh, we just...Copy !req
642. We wanted to ask you some questions.Copy !req
643. About how you like it at Saint Benezet.Copy !req
644. - It's very nice, isn't it?
- It is.Copy !req
645. - How long have you been here?
- A while now.Copy !req
646. Ever since my husband passed.Copy !req
647. Are you two married?Copy !req
648. No.Copy !req
649. - Well, I am, but not to her.
- No, I'm single.Copy !req
650. Uh, Mrs Vistain...Copy !req
651. Is it time?Copy !req
652. Uh...Copy !req
653. We're sorry to bother you, ma'am.Copy !req
654. We should go.Copy !req
655. Mrs Vistain, um, your husband...Copy !req
656. - Was that your first marriage?
- Arthur?Copy !req
657. Lord, no, he was my third.Copy !req
658. Kept his name,
thought it sounded like royalty.Copy !req
659. I always loved that.Copy !req
660. Martin was my second.Copy !req
661. Such a beautiful man.Copy !req
662. But confusedCopy !req
663. by other men.Copy !req
664. Oh, um...Copy !req
665. Your first marriage,
who was that to?Copy !req
666. He tried so hard,
but he drank, you know.Copy !req
667. I didn't.Copy !req
668. Never touched a drop.
Not once, no.Copy !req
669. And, uh, did you have any children
with your first husband?Copy !req
670. - Karen...
- Just let her answer.Copy !req
671. Mrs Vistain?Copy !req
672. He's such a good boy.Copy !req
673. Comes to see me every weekend.Copy !req
674. He's gentle, sweet.Copy !req
675. Not like his father.Copy !req
676. And what's his name?
Your son?Copy !req
677. Wilson.Copy !req
678. Fisk?Copy !req
679. Wilson Fisk?Copy !req
680. I haven't used that name since...Copy !req
681. It wasn't his fault.Copy !req
682. His father, he was...Copy !req
683. Wilson just wanted him to stop.Copy !req
684. It wasn't his fault, what he did.Copy !req
685. Mrs Vistain, what did your son do?Copy !req
686. There are those that question
why a man such as myself,Copy !req
687. a man who treasures his privacy,Copy !req
688. would willingly subject himself
to the public eye.Copy !req
689. I question the man
who wouldn't step forwardCopy !req
690. when his city, his heart,
is in such a time of need.Copy !req
691. With your help,Copy !req
692. we can ensure that everyoneCopy !req
693. that was affected by the recent attacks,Copy !req
694. and all who call
Hell's Kitchen their home,Copy !req
695. will see a brighter day.Copy !req
696. I thank you,
and please enjoy your evening.Copy !req
697. That was beautiful.Copy !req
698. That word is meant for only you tonight.Copy !req
699. - Thank you for coming.
- Of course.Copy !req
700. - Thank you so much.
- Thank you.Copy !req
701. - It's a pleasure to see you again.
- Nice to see you.Copy !req
702. Thank you so much for the donation.Copy !req
703. It means the world to me,
and to my organisation.Copy !req
704. Yeah, mmm-hmm.Copy !req
705. I haven't been in a room with so many
deep pockets since the junk bond days.Copy !req
706. Leland, I was starting to worry.Copy !req
707. It's taken care of.Copy !req
708. Appreciate it.Copy !req
709. Yeah, great.Copy !req
710. So, does anybody
need a drink as bad as I do?Copy !req
711. Yes, please.Copy !req
712. It was a hell of a speech, Fisk.
You ever think about running for office?Copy !req
713. I'll leave that to
people like you, Senator.Copy !req
714. That's a good answer.Copy !req
715. You, um, got a minute
to talk about that zoning issue?Copy !req
716. Yes, of course.Copy !req
717. I'll be back in a minute.Copy !req
718. I didn't vote for
Senator Cherryh last election.Copy !req
719. Thank you so much.Copy !req
720. Few people did.Copy !req
721. But he still won.Copy !req
722. He said it was because of the
advice he got from Van LuntCopy !req
723. and his crackpot astrologer,
if you can believe that.Copy !req
724. Van Lunt?Copy !req
725. Yeah, he's the guy who
owns this mausoleum.Copy !req
726. Ask me, has more to do with Cherryh
having his fingers in all the right holes.Copy !req
727. Somebody can't hold his liquor.Copy !req
728. What the hell is this?Copy !req
729. Wesley, get the car.
We need to leave, now.Copy !req
730. Vanessa!Copy !req
731. Christ!
Somebody get a doctor here!Copy !req
732. Somebody get a doctor!Copy !req
733. Vanessa?Copy !req
734. Vanessa!Copy !req
735. Vanessa!Copy !req
736. You're going to get yourself killed,
you keep this up.Copy !req
737. You know that, right?Copy !req
738. I can take care of myself.Copy !req
739. What about the rest of us?Copy !req
740. Me, Karen,Copy !req
741. we're a part of this now,
because of you.Copy !req
742. And we didn't get a say in that.Copy !req
743. What do you think's gonna happen
if I give up now, Foggy?Copy !req
744. - Who's going to stop Fisk?
- Oh, I don't know, the law?Copy !req
745. Tell that to Elena.Copy !req
746. If you could have put on a mask
and prevented what happened to her,Copy !req
747. - you telling me you wouldn't have?
- It's not fair, Matt.Copy !req
748. We don't live in a world that's fair.Copy !req
749. We live in this one.Copy !req
750. And I'm doing everything I can
to make it a better place.Copy !req
751. "A better place."Copy !req
752. That kind of sounds like
what Fisk keeps saying.Copy !req
753. Don't say that. Don't twist it around.Copy !req
754. You tried to kill him, Matt.
You told me yourself.Copy !req
755. How is that any different than
the way he solves his problems?Copy !req
756. I made a mistake. I know that.Copy !req
757. Misspelling "Hanukkah" is a mistake.Copy !req
758. Attempted murder
is a little something else.Copy !req
759. You ever stop to think what would
happen if you went to jail? Or worse?Copy !req
760. You really think
that anyone would believeCopy !req
761. that I didn't know what you were doing?Copy !req
762. That Karen didn't know?Copy !req
763. This city needs me in that mask, Foggy.Copy !req
764. Maybe you're right.Copy !req
765. Maybe it does.Copy !req
766. But I don't.Copy !req
767. I only ever needed my friend.Copy !req
768. I wouldn't have kept this from you, Matt.
Not from you.Copy !req
769. You don't know that.
You don't know that.Copy !req
770. Yeah, I do.Copy !req
771. Foggy, wait.Copy !req
772. Foggy.Copy !req
773. I worry about you,
it's all I'm saying.Copy !req
774. - Foggy, I'm fine.
- Don't look fine.Copy !req
775. See, Josie's
worried about you too.Copy !req
776. - I wouldn't go that far.
- Gotta be more careful.Copy !req
777. I know. I know.Copy !req
778. Tripping and falling taking out the trash.Copy !req
779. You got to get someone
to do that for you.Copy !req
780. Come on, I just need to be
more careful, like you said.Copy !req
781. Done!Copy !req
782. Run your feelers over this little beauty.Copy !req
783. What is it, a napkin?Copy !req
784. No, my friend, this is our future.Copy !req
785. - Huh, feels like a napkin.
- It's a drawing of a sign.Copy !req
786. "Nelson and Murdock,
Attorneys At Law."Copy !req
787. You, uh...
You really want to do this?Copy !req
788. No, I'm pissing my pants.
There is actual urine in my trousers.Copy !req
789. But I trust you.Copy !req
790. You think this is what
we should be doing,Copy !req
791. then I'm with you.Copy !req
792. For better or worse.Copy !req
793. Sounds like we're getting married.Copy !req
794. This is way more important
than a civil union!Copy !req
795. Come on,
we're gonna be business partners.Copy !req
796. We're gonna share
everything with each other.Copy !req
797. Our thoughts, our dreams,
bills, crushing debt...Copy !req
798. There is no one I'd rather
be doing this with, buddy. Seriously.Copy !req
799. Me, too, pal.Copy !req
800. Now raise your damn glass,
'cause I'm gonna clink the hell out of it.Copy !req
801. Nelson and Murdock,
Attorneys at Law.Copy !req
802. Nelson and Murdock.Copy !req
