1. - Hey, Felix. Are you awake?

2. Over.

3. I am, now. What's up, man?

4. Hey, man. - Hey.

5. I, I could have come to yours.

6. - Oh, no. No. My, um, my mom's a really light sleeper.

7. So what's up?

8. - I don't know how I'm gonna say this, but...

9. I know that if I don't say it now, I'm gonna lose my nerve, so, um...

10. Here it goes.

11. Can you turn around?

12. - Seriously?

13. - I'm, I'm sorry, it's just too much pressure with you staring at me,

14. especially since you hardly ever blink.

15. - What are you talking about?

16. I blink a normal amount.

17. - Felix, uh...

18. I...

19. like guys.

20. Like, I'm into them.

21. I thought I might for a while, but I wasn't totally sure, and...

22. I really wanted to make things work with Mia, because...

23. she's awesome.

24. But I, but I can't. Because...

25. I like guys.

26. - Can I turn around now?

27. - Yeah.

28. - I, um...

29. I really don't know the perfect thing to say.

30. But I'm really happy you told me.

31. And this doesn't change anything between us, obviously.

32. - Actually, as... As far as perfect things to say go,

33. that was pretty good.

34. Felix, don't cry. - I'm not crying. You...

35. made me aware of my blinking. Irritated my eye.

36. Whew. So...

37. How does it feel to get all this off your chest?

38. - Kind of amazing.

39. But, um, you were the easy one.

40. - Yeah. Telling Mia's gonna suck.

41. - Yeah. - But she'll understand.

42. It's not like you cheated on her, or killed her cat.

43. - I kind of kissed Benji.

44. - Whoa.

45. - Hey.

46. Hi, my love!

47. I didn't hear you come in last night.

48. How was your basketball trip?

49. - It was... It was perfect.

50. - I'm so glad.

51. - Um...

52. I have to get ready for school,

53. but good luck on your first day of piano lessons.

54. - Thank you. Hey, is this a new jacket?

55. - Yeah. - Suits you.

56. - Macho.

57. Welcome home, huh? - Hey.

58. - Oh, wow.

59. Did, uh, somebody turn our living room

60. into a piano academy?

61. So, uh, who are your new students?

62. - Like, what are their names?

63. - Nah, I just mean, like, um, what's their deal?

64. Are they, uh, guys? Girls? How old are they?

65. - Well, let's see. There's Kyle, the ninth grader

66. who wants to be the next John Legend.

67. There's Lisa, the fourth grader. She's all thumbs.

68. And there's Fabian, the male underwear model

69. who insists on playing without a shirt.

70. Sorry. I was going for a joke to break the tension.

71. Didn't work. - Nope.

72. - Mando. Don't worry.

73. Just say good luck.

74. - Good luck.

75. Good luck, and have a great first day of lessons.

76. Okay? - Okay.

77. - Bye.

78. Aw. The school dance.

79. The perfect place for a night of romance with my sweetie.

80. If my sweetie didn't think

81. being seen with me was social suicide.

82. - What's the latest with you two?

83. - She still doesn't want anyone knowing we're hooking up.

84. - Mm. - But she did tell Mia, so baby steps.

85. Or what's smaller than baby steps? Fetus steps?

86. - Ugh. - No, no, no. It's okay. I totally get it.

87. She is completely out of my league.

88. We're kind of like if Taylor Swift was dating the dog from A Dog's Purpose.

89. - Hey! You're not a dog.

90. Okay, you're charming,

91. you have thick, shiny hair, and really nice brown eyes.

92. - You are literally describing the dog from A Dog's Purpose.

93. - Okay, do you want to be with Lake for real?

94. - Of course. I mean, I've thought of so many ways to ask her to the dance.

95. I mean, skywriting, flash mob, a cappella serenade...

96. - Then ask her. But, you know, in like, a, a normal way.

97. - Okay.

98. - Oh, God.

99. - So, what's the game plan with Mia?

100. - Uh, I'm gonna ask her if I could come over tonight

101. so she has some privacy when I tell her the truth.

102. Am I doing it?

103. Am I walking towards her?

104. - Nope.

105. You are fully rooted in place.

106. Now, let me just give a tiny... Yep.

107. - Hey. - Hey.

108. How dope is Mia for letting me borrow these for the school dance?

109. I've said it before and I'll say it again.

110. She's way too good for you. Thanks.

111. - Yeah.

112. - Hey, look, before you say anything, I, I know I've been M. I. A.

113. It's just, it's— between work and this trip...

114. I've been really crappy at keeping in touch.

115. And I'm sorry.

116. - So, just because you're aware that you've been acting crappy,

117. I'm supposed to forgive you?

118. - That's the hope. Yeah.

119. What if we hung out after school today?

120. Maybe I could come over to your house?

121. Are you free?

122. - My dad and Veronica are going to a Billy Joel concert tonight,

123. so I have the house to myself.

124. And I had kind of a weird plan.

125. Um, I'm making homemade sushi.

126. - Really? - Yeah.

127. Ever since I saw, um, that Jiro Dreams of Sushi documentary,

128. I've been dying to try it.

129. So, are you in?

130. We'll either have an amazing dinner, or we'll get mercury poisoning.

131. - I'm in.

132. - Well, mata ne.

133. It's, uh, it's Japanese for "I'll see you later." Okay.

134. - Bye. - Bye.

135. - Mm, Lake. Lake.

136. I've been thinking.

137. I should be more honest with you about what I want.

138. Look, I think we should go to the dance together.

139. - Uh, I, I'm not really into dances.

140. - What? You love everything dance-related.

141. Dancing With the Stars. World of Dance.

142. Dance Dance Revolution. Dirty Dancing. So You Think You Can Dance.

143. - You're such a good listener. - Mmm.

144. - Felix...

145. Couples who go to dances are scrutinized,

146. and I'm just not ready to put us under the Creekwood microscope.

147. - So we can only see each other in a supply closet?

148. I can't live in the shadows, Lake. I'm pale enough as it is.

149. - Well, uh, my parents won't be home after school.

150. Wanna come over?

151. Maybe it'll be so hot you'll catch a tan.

152. - Oh, my God. Um...

153. - And just to be clear, we're not advancing bases.

154. We're just advancing to an actual bedroom. - Totally understand.

155. Just one thing. Is this a no-shoes household,

156. because if so, I want to plan my sock situation accordingly.

157. - Shh.

158. - Hey.

159. Didn't think you were working today. - I'm not.

160. I'm clearing out my stuff.

161. Starting next week, I'm transferring to a different location.

162. - Is this because I kissed you?

163. - I guess... kind of.

164. - You don't have to switch stores, Benji.

165. What happened on our trip, it... it won't happen again.

166. - Look.

167. My relationship with Derek isn't perfect.

168. But I don't want to lose him.

169. And when you kissed me, it put me in a tough spot.

170. - You told him?

171. - No. There's no reason to. He'd just get upset.

172. But the idea of working with you every day makes me feel...

173. guilty. - Why?

174. You didn't do anything wrong.

175. - I know that.

176. - Well, I guess, uh...

177. Guess I'll see you at school?

178. - I think it's best if we stay out of each other's way.

179. - Right.

180. Dear Simon, I'm coming out to Mia tonight.

181. And if that wasn't enough, Benji won't even talk to me.

182. Why does everything have to be so hard?

183. - Lake, your room is beautiful.

184. Oh, my God.

185. Is that you as a little girl?

186. Oh!

187. Look at your little baby cheeks. I could just bite 'em.

188. - Okay, could we not make this about me as a baby?

189. We finally have some privacy.

190. - You're right. What's wrong with me?

191. Sweetheart, I'm home!

192. - Uh, crap. Uh, my mom's home early. Just...

193. Just get under the bed. Okay? Go.

194. Go.

195. Hurry. She's coming. Okay? Go, go!

196. Hi, Mom.

197. - Whose bag is that? - Uh, mine.

198. Boy bags are the new trend.

199. - Oh, honey, no. Even as far as boy bags go,

200. that is a very ugly backpack.

201. - Um, thought you were getting your hair toned tonight.

202. - Well, my stylist bailed, because her "child has croup."

203. Wah-wah. Anyway, I was already at the mall,

204. so I did some shopping for you, so... fashion show.

205. - Oh, uh, that's okay.

206. - Lake, you're traipsing around school with a boys' backpack.

207. This jacket just makes your shoulders look like you're a bouncer.

208. Please? I really want you to go through some of these looks.

209. - Uh, okay.

210. - Yay! Fun!

211. Hey, Vic.

212. I'm not gonna sugarcoat it.

213. Telling Mia is gonna be really, really hard.

214. You just gotta rip the gay Band-Aid off

215. and hope that eventually she forgives you.

216. As for Benji,

217. when I screwed things up with all with my friends,

218. they wouldn't talk to me, either.

219. So, I wrote them a big apology on Creek Secrets.

220. I'm not saying you should do that,

221. but maybe try and help Benji understand where you're coming from.

222. - Hey.

223. - You, um...

224. You made me feel like such an idiot

225. this morning when I asked about your students.

226. - What?

227. - You told that stupid joke

228. to make me think that your students were all children.

229. That you weren't giving lessons to grown-ass men in our apartment.

230. - Armando! - But of course you would lie to me about something like that.

231. That's exactly what somebody who betrayed her husband

232. and her family would do.

233. - That man you saw wasn't a student.

234. He was dropping off a student.

235. - So, how long until I can play "All of Me"?

236. In a month, I'd like to serenade Kira Brownstein at her bat mitzvah.

237. - That sounds amazing. Okay...

238. Where were we? Okay. Yeah.

239. - Oh, honey. This one's a keeper.

240. - Thanks, Mom. Um...

241. I really appreciate it, but I think I can do my own shopping.

242. - Oh, you just worked so hard to lose all that weight,

243. and I just want you to present yourself in the most flattering light possible.

244. - I think I'm presenting just fine.

245. - Just fine?

246. I mean, do you think I'd be the top-rated anchor in greater Atlanta

247. if I presented "just fine"?

248. - I guess not.

249. - No, you bet your ass, I wouldn't.

250. I mean, when I first started as a production assistant at Channel Nine,

251. do you know what they called me?

252. "Omaha."

253. Because I was a small town girl from Omaha

254. with a crappy haircut and polyester clothes.

255. So I lived on ramen and air

256. until I could afford an appointment at the nicest salon in town.

257. And on the weekends, I scoured thrift stores to find designer clothes.

258. A year later,

259. "Omaha" was the youngest field reporter in Channel Nine history.

260. Now look, you do fine in school,

261. but clearly, your grades aren't gonna open any doors,

262. so you need to get used to putting your best foot forward.

263. And that means knowing how to look curvy, but not big.

264. And attractive, but not like a floozy.

265. Public perception is crucial.

266. - Uh, yeah. You're right. Thank you.

267. Um, I'll just... try the rest on later.

268. - Oh, that's my girl.

269. Okay, for the record, she is insane.

270. Your body is literally perfect. - Felix, please.

271. I'll just sneak you out the back door.

272. I can't even look at you, knowing you heard that conversation.

273. - Actually, I want to take you somewhere.

274. Show you something.

275. - We should probably eat these before they get cold.

276. Just a good old-fashioned sushi joke.

277. Um, you okay? You seem kind quiet.

278. - No, yeah. Yeah, I'm great.

279. Aah. Cheers.

280. - Cheers.

281. Should we drop out of high school, run away, and start a sushi restaurant?

282. Mm.

283. - Hey, Mia, look. I, I wanted to talk—

284. Mia, we're home!

285. - Why are they back?

286. Uh, wow. I guess you're finally gonna meet my dad.

287. - Oh, look at this.

288. I didn't realize we were having company over.

289. Hey.

290. - Hi, I'm Victor.

291. - Hello.

292. - Victor. Nice to meet you. Hi. - Veronica.

293. Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you.

294. - Uh, what happened to the concert?

295. - Ah, we decided to bail.

296. Veronica, she wasn't feeling too well.

297. - I guess I'm not really in a New York state of mind.

298. It's a Billy Joel reference. You know that song—

299. Never mind. Here you go, sweetheart.

300. - Thank you. Well, did you guys eat?

301. - Uh, no. Actually, I'm starving.

302. - Well, we have plenty of sushi.

303. - Thank you. I'm okay.

304. I'm not a huge sushi girl.

305. - Yes, you are. You eat it all the time.

306. - So, Victor, um...

307. You wouldn't know this, but we are big fans of your Instagram.

308. Thank you. Harold!

309. You can't tell him we look at his Instagram!

310. - Oh, my God. Are you pregnant?

311. - Mia.

312. Come on, that's ridiculous. She's, um... - Honey...

313. Yes. I'm, I'm ten weeks pregnant.

314. I thought we were gonna wait for the right time to tell her.
