105. I don't have him,

You liar!Copy !req
106. Carolyn, Carolyn, Carolyn.Copy !req
107. Listen to me,

Of course.Copy !req
115. Do you mind if we wait

116. He should be
here any minute.Copy !req
117. I don't care what she told you.Copy !req
118. I didn't kidnap my own son.Copy !req
119. Nobody is accusing youCopy !req
120. of anything, Mr. Forbes.Copy !req
121. But when there's
a custody fight,Copy !req
122. we have to rule
everybody out.Copy !req
123. God knows where Adam is
and you're wasting
your time with me.Copy !req
124. We wouldn't be if we knew
where you were last night.Copy !req
125. Oh, for crying out loud.Copy !req
126. I was at my
girlfriend's place.Copy !req
127. Ira,
help me out here.Copy !req
128. My client will be glad
to give you her name.Copy !req

132. Motor Vehicles.
My license expired.Copy !req

crazy messagesCopy !req
141. as soon as I turned it back on.Copy !req
142. Yeah, to call
Mr. Rosenman here.Copy !req
143. I brought Ira because
I knew CarolynCopy !req
144. would try to turn this on me,
just like everything else.Copy !req
145. She got half my money,
my house...Copy !req
146. And Adam.Copy !req
147. You're suing for sole custody.Copy !req
148. Afraid you might lose?Copy !req
149. You think I have Adam?Copy !req
150. Search my place, take my DNA,
my fingerprints,Copy !req
151. whatever you need.Copy !req
152. But I'm telling you,
I love my son.Copy !req
153. I would never put him through
this kind of hell.Copy !req
154. Motor Vehicles confirmsCopy !req
155. Peter got there just after
8:00 this morning.Copy !req
156. Girlfriend swears he was
with her all last night.Copy !req
157. Forget the
cleaning lady.Copy !req
158. She's been in Antigua since
Friday visiting family.Copy !req
159. Which leaves Carolyn herself,
or big brother Eric.Copy !req
160. Is he capable of doing something
to his little brother?Copy !req
161. I didn't get
that vibe from him.Copy !req
162. But with the custody
battle going on,Copy !req
163. Adam's probably getting
most of Mom's attention.Copy !req
164. Eric got tired of it,
anything's possible.Copy !req
165. Maybe we should ask him,
before he skips.Copy !req
166. Eric...Copy !req
167. Can I help you?Copy !req
168. They're cops, Dad.Copy !req
169. Detectives Benson and Stabler.Copy !req
170. You're Eric's father?
Steven Manning.Copy !req
171. I'm taking Eric until
this is ironed out.Copy !req
172. Can I have
a word with you?Copy !req
173. Sure. Anything
I can do to help.Copy !req
174. Stay with the detective.Copy !req
175. Why don't you have
a seat over here.Copy !req
176. Sorry that we, uh,Copy !req
177. we got
interrupted before.Copy !req
178. So, Eric, you and Adam are
pretty tight, right?Copy !req
179. I guess.Copy !req
180. And when you lived
with Adam's dad,Copy !req
181. were you pretty tight
with him, too?Copy !req
182. Not really.Copy !req
183. I mean, Peter's cool and all,
but I got my own dad.Copy !req
184. Did Peter or your mom ever
talk about taking Adam away?Copy !req
185. If you know something,
you've got to tell us.Copy !req
186. I can't.Copy !req
187. I'll get in trouble.Copy !req
188. You'll get in trouble
with who, Eric?Copy !req
189. Mom.Copy !req
190. What did
your mom say?Copy !req
191. Eric... it's okay.Copy !req
192. That she'd hide Adam before
she'd let Peter have him.Copy !req
193. That was just talk.Copy !req
194. I was angry.Copy !req
195. I thought I was going
to lose custody.Copy !req
196. We understand that.Copy !req
197. Look, if someone threatened
to take my kids,Copy !req
198. I can't say that I wouldn't do
something desperate.Copy !req
199. You really think
I'm hiding Adam?Copy !req
200. That I would harm my own son?Copy !req
201. Carolyn, we know that
you wouldn't hurt Adam.Copy !req
202. But the only way for us
to focus this investigationCopy !req
203. is to rule out everyone
who had daily access to him.Copy !req
204. Including you.Copy !req
205. Detectives?Copy !req
206. A moment? Now.Copy !req
207. I'm pretty sure you can
rule her out as a suspect.Copy !req
208. I brought a dummy screen
to show you, and this.Copy !req
209. A fingerprint.Copy !req
210. Fresh off the handrail
of the fire escape.Copy !req
211. Matches several prints
on the screen.Copy !req
212. Why is there a print outsideCopy !req
213. when the screen was cut
from inside the house?Copy !req
214. I asked myself
the same question.Copy !req
215. So I took another look
at the screenCopy !req
216. and found this under
the microscope.Copy !req
217. It's oxidation.Copy !req
218. Happens when the
screen and frameCopy !req
219. are exposed
to the elements.Copy !req
220. So, what's
the problem?Copy !req
221. This side of the screenCopy !req
222. is supposed to face out.Copy !req
223. But it's less weatheredCopy !req
224. than the side
that's supposed to face in.Copy !req
225. So the screen was
in backwards.Copy !req
226. They took it out to clean it
and just put it in wrong.Copy !req
227. Which means that it was
cut from the outsideCopy !req
228. by a perp who came up
the fire escape.Copy !req
229. You get a hit
on those prints?Copy !req
230. Sorry. Not in the system.Copy !req
231. We got to go.
What's up?Copy !req
232. Fin just called.Copy !req
233. Adam may have been spotted
three blocks from here.Copy !req
234. A newspaper delivery guy sawCopy !req
235. a man carrying a boy in pajamasCopy !req
236. around the grocery store
at 5:00 a.m. this morning.Copy !req
237. Called when he saw
the kidnapping on TV.Copy !req
238. You think Adam and
whoever snatched
him are inside?Copy !req
239. Precinct's cops said
this place has been openCopy !req
240. every day for 12 years,
except today.Copy !req
241. And they can't locate
the owner.Copy !req
242. How you want
to play it, Captain?Copy !req
243. Lift the gate.
Let's take a look inside.Copy !req
244. We've got a victim down.
Some movement.Copy !req
245. Take the door.Copy !req
246. Give me your flashlight.Copy !req
247. He's cut, but he's breathing.Copy !req
248. Sir, we're the police.Copy !req
249. We're going to get you
to a hospital.Copy !req
250. You hang in there, okay?Copy !req
251. Got another one here.Copy !req
252. Go. I got him.Copy !req
253. All set?Copy !req
254. That's stairs to a basement.Copy !req
255. Clear on the left.Copy !req
256. Clear on the right.Copy !req
257. Guys...Copy !req
258. check this out.Copy !req
259. Home sweet home.Copy !req
260. One of the victims
must sleep here.Copy !req
261. Or whoever stabbed them.Copy !req
262. Look at this.Copy !req
263. That was taken
in the store here.Copy !req
264. It's Adam.Copy !req
265. The deceased victim is
Lester Hale, store owner.Copy !req
266. Multiple stab wounds
to the chest.Copy !req
267. This guy's the
assistant manager,
Emilio Vasquez.Copy !req
268. Unconscious, but EMS thinks
he's going to make it.Copy !req
269. What about
our basement resident?Copy !req
270. The precinct cops sayCopy !req
271. the guy that works
here, his name is Kevin.Copy !req
272. Nobody's seen him today,Copy !req
273. but people I canvassed
say he's a little off.Copy !req
274. Captain!Copy !req
275. Get a sketch artist
down here.Copy !req
276. Perp left us some
patent prints.Copy !req
277. Forgot to wipe the
blood off his handsCopy !req
278. after he opened the
doors from the inside.Copy !req
279. So he stabbed
the victims,Copy !req
280. he takes Adam
down into the basementCopy !req
281. and they come out
this way.Copy !req
282. And goes
who knows where.Copy !req
283. The blood trail
ends here.Copy !req
284. What do you got?Copy !req
285. So far, just
this picture.Copy !req
286. Found three more.Copy !req
287. "I'm coming
to get you, Son."Copy !req
288. He thinks Adam
is his boy.Copy !req
289. He's been stalking
him for months.Copy !req
290. Those kids are
wearing winter jackets.Copy !req
291. Here's the Forbes' brownstone,
labeled "Tate's house."Copy !req
292. "Tate's Room." He even
scoped out Adam's window.Copy !req
293. He's X-ed out the facesCopy !req
294. of the other kids
in this picture,Copy !req
295. but he's completely
obliteratedCopy !req
296. the face of the mother.Copy !req
297. She's the one that could
pose a threat to his fantasy.Copy !req
298. So he snatches the kid,Copy !req
299. and takes him down
to his bedroom.Copy !req
300. The victims catch him
in the act with the boy.Copy !req
301. He chases them upstairs,
stabs themCopy !req
302. so they can't talk.Copy !req
303. Except that his bed is so neat
you can bounce a quarter off it.Copy !req
304. I don't think he'd take
the time to make itCopy !req
305. after he just stabbed
two people.Copy !req
306. Adam's not defacedCopy !req
307. in any of these pictures.Copy !req
308. A pedophile has his choice
of any kid on the street,Copy !req
309. but this guy believesCopy !req
310. he has an absolute right
to Adam.Copy !req
311. So this isn't a pedophile.Copy !req
312. I doubt it. But the
clock's still tickingCopy !req
313. and he's in a volatile state;
so if Adam sets him off,Copy !req
314. then he's going to probably
kill him, too.Copy !req
315. So we got to find out
who this Kevin is in a hurry.Copy !req
316. Maybe we
should start
with Carolyn.Copy !req
317. The window's three stories high.Copy !req
318. He knows it's Adam's room.Copy !req
319. He must have been inside.Copy !req
320. Kevin from the grocery store?Copy !req
321. I never let him in here.Copy !req
322. Why, did he do
something?Copy !req
323. Well, every time Adam
and I were there,Copy !req
324. Kevin gave himCopy !req
325. a candy barCopy !req
326. and I thought it was
a little weird.Copy !req
327. And you never once
saw him follow you home?Copy !req
328. No.Copy !req
329. Stabler.Copy !req
330. What kind of person stalks
a five-year-old child?Copy !req
331. Kevin believes
that Adam is his son.Copy !req
332. You just have to think
positive,Copy !req
333. that he wouldn't harm
his own child.Copy !req
334. Assistant manager
just woke up
from surgery.Copy !req
335. Two of our detectives
will be talking to him now.Copy !req
336. Lester and I came inCopy !req
337. and Carolyn was there
with the boy.Copy !req
338. This boy?Copy !req
339. Kevin says he's his son,Copy !req
340. but I knew the kid
from deliveries.Copy !req
341. Lester told me
to take him back home.Copy !req
342. What happened?Copy !req
343. Kevin went loco.Copy !req
344. He said we were "hombres malos."Copy !req
345. I tried to grab the boy,
and Kevin stabbed me.Copy !req
346. Then Lester tried
to stop himCopy !req
347. and Kevin cut him, too.Copy !req
348. Kevin ever mention
any favorite places of his,Copy !req
349. some place he might have
taken Adam?Copy !req
350. He mostly just talked
to himself.Copy !req
351. Lester said Kevin has demons
in his head.Copy !req
352. He feels sorry for himCopy !req
353. because he lost his house
and family,Copy !req
354. so he let Kevin live
in the basementCopy !req
355. in exchange for work.Copy !req
356. For how long?Copy !req
357. Seven, maybe eight months.Copy !req
358. Did Kevin ever make
a delivery to Adam's house?Copy !req
359. A couple days ago.Copy !req
360. I was alone in the store
and Kevin was all I had.Copy !req
361. He said he knew
where it was because...Copy !req
362. he used to live
across the street.Copy !req
363. Carolyn's cleaning ladyCopy !req
364. let him leave a candy bar
on Adam's bed.Copy !req
365. Which explains how he
knew where Adam's room was.Copy !req
366. Okay, so the super
in Kevin's building saidCopy !req
367. that he lived there
till about four years ago.Copy !req
368. He know
what happened?Copy !req
369. Said Kevin was a partner
in some big accounting firmCopy !req
370. until they fired him.Copy !req
371. Kept showing up
to work drunk.Copy !req
372. About the same time,
he got a bad case
of paranoia,Copy !req
373. started talking
to himself.Copy !req
374. He thought that everybody
in his officeCopy !req
375. was staring at him.Copy !req
376. What about the family?Copy !req
377. Sold the apartment last year,
moved awayCopy !req
378. when Kevin started begging
on the street corner.Copy !req
379. Kevin's wife take the son
named Tate with her?Copy !req
380. He's about five years old now,
same as Adam.Copy !req
381. Super doesn't know
where they went.Copy !req
382. Kevin lived across the
street from Adam.Copy !req
383. He panhandled on the corner,Copy !req
384. worked three blocks away
in a grocery.Copy !req
385. Seems he likes it
close to home.Copy !req
386. It's pretty risky
to be hanging aroundCopy !req
387. if he's got Adam with him.Copy !req
388. They both got to eatCopy !req
389. and Kevin's cut off
from the grocery store.Copy !req
390. Well, the precinct community
cops might knowCopy !req
391. where Kevin used to go
Dumpster divingCopy !req
392. before he worked
at the grocery.Copy !req
393. Guess what.Copy !req
394. He's not in this one,
either.Copy !req
395. Cragen wants us back
at the command post.Copy !req
396. Didn't take him
five minutes to
tell you that.Copy !req
397. Three years ago,
cops picked up KevinCopy !req
398. for yelling
at some woman
on the streetCopy !req
399. he swore was
following him.Copy !req
400. But they didn't collar him,
or we'd have his prints.Copy !req
401. They just sent him off
to Bellevue PsychCopy !req
402. and that's the last
they heard of him.Copy !req
403. Until now.Copy !req
404. Across the street—
Dumpster.Copy !req
405. That's him.Copy !req
406. Excuse me.
Excuse me.Copy !req
407. I wonder if you
can help me out.Copy !req
408. I'm busy.
I can't talk to you.Copy !req
409. I was wondering if you
could just help me out.Copy !req
410. I'm looking for 569.Copy !req
411. Sorry, I'm in a hurry.
I can't talk to you.Copy !req
412. My son's waiting for me.
I'm in a hurry.Copy !req
413. Do you mean Tate?Copy !req
414. Kevin?Copy !req
415. Cacisti! Cacisti!Copy !req
416. My son— don't let her
take my son!Copy !req
417. No one's going
to take your son!Copy !req
418. Don't let her
take my son!Copy !req
419. Cacisti! Cacisti!Copy !req
420. I know she's back there,
watching me behind the glass.Copy !req
421. I know she is.Copy !req
422. Kevin, I've told you before,Copy !req
423. there's no one
behind the mirror.Copy !req
424. You lie like a rug.
Snug as a bug in a rug.Copy !req
425. You pull the rug out
from under me,Copy !req
426. I will go underground.
I will go underground.Copy !req
427. Kevin...
You're cacisti.Copy !req
428. You are cacistis, all of you.Copy !req
429. You can run, but you can't hide.Copy !req
430. Kevin, talk to me.
Where's the boy?Copy !req
431. I won't tell you
where the boy is.Copy !req
432. I won't tell you where he is.Copy !req
433. I know who you are.
I know what's going on here.Copy !req
434. You're working
for that witch
behind the window,Copy !req
435. and she is evil.Copy !req
436. She is trying to steal
my thoughtsCopy !req
437. and I will protect myself.Copy !req
438. I work for you.
I'm trying to help you.Copy !req
439. Just tell me where the boy is.
I want to protect the boy.Copy !req
440. Elliot, can I talk to you
for a minute?Copy !req
441. and they want to
indoctrinate my sonCopy !req
442. and I will stop them!Copy !req
443. I will stop them!
I will stop you!Copy !req
444. I will stop you!Copy !req
445. I have news for you.
I will stop you!Copy !req
446. The guy's hopeless.Copy !req
447. He's a paranoid
schizophrenicCopy !req
448. and these cacistis
are his delusion.Copy !req
449. You're not going to get
anything more out of him.Copy !req
450. Well, he's got a five-year-old
kid stashed out there somewhere.Copy !req
451. And he's decompensating.Copy !req
452. Any more stress,
and he could go intoCopy !req
453. a psychotic break
and he'll never talk.Copy !req
454. He needs medication.Copy !req
455. You got a medical bag.Copy !req
456. You got anything in thereCopy !req
457. to make him lucid
enough to talk?Copy !req
458. Yes, but I can't give it to him
just to make him confess.Copy !req
459. Why not?Copy !req
460. Because he's not my patient.Copy !req
461. I could lose my license.Copy !req
462. We need to get him
to a psych hospitalCopy !req
463. for treatment.Copy !req
464. And lose him
in the mental health system?Copy !req
465. We don't have that kind of time.Copy !req
466. Well, we don't have a choice.Copy !req
467. Without medication,Copy !req
468. he's never going to be able
to tell youCopy !req
469. what you need to know.Copy !req
470. How fast can you make it happen?Copy !req
471. I'll make some calls.Copy !req
472. Any luck, he'll be able
to talk tomorrow morning.Copy !req
473. I appreciate that.
Thank you very much. Bye-bye.Copy !req
474. Hey. Found Kevin's
wife and son.Copy !req
475. Jersey City.Copy !req
476. Doesn't want anything
to do with him.Copy !req
477. Oh, too bad.
Did you get him
in somewhere?Copy !req
478. Yeah. Bellevue Psych's
going to take him.Copy !req
479. The bus is going
to be here any minute.Copy !req
480. ( crash )
Is Elliot still in there
with Kevin?Copy !req
481. What the hell's going on?Copy !req
482. You're one of them!Copy !req
483. They sent you!Copy !req
484. Elliot!Copy !req
485. Need a little help in here!
She sent you!Copy !req
486. She's the one
who did this!
Elliot.Copy !req
487. She wants Tate.
You can't have him!Copy !req
488. You can never have him!Copy !req
489. He's locked away!
Hidden away!Copy !req
490. My medical bag's
in your office.
Go!Copy !req
491. secret police probes!Copy !req
492. Your drones, your spies,
your agents!Copy !req
493. What the hell happened?Copy !req
494. I told him he was going
to the hospital!Copy !req
495. He freaked out on me.Copy !req
496. Grabs a chair.
Knocked over the table.Copy !req
497. Your stealth weapons!Copy !req
498. Oh, you can kill me,
you can murder me,Copy !req
499. but you can't find my son!Copy !req
500. Here you go, Doc.Copy !req
501. You will never
find my son!Copy !req
502. Come on, we got him, Doc.
Let's go!Copy !req
503. What are you
giving him?Copy !req
504. Ativan and Haldol.Copy !req
505. Hold him still!
Got it.Copy !req
506. ( screaming ):
No!Copy !req
507. No!Copy !req
508. It'll take about ten minutes
to kick in.Copy !req
509. No!Copy !req
510. He stable?Copy !req
511. Enough to transport.Copy !req
512. I need two minutes
with him.Copy !req
513. Well, you better
make it quick.Copy !req
514. He's on the express
to La-La Land.Copy !req
515. Kevin,Copy !req
516. where's Tate?Copy !req
517. Don't be scared, Tate.Copy !req
518. Daddy'll be home soon.Copy !req
519. Hey.Copy !req
520. Kevin, Kevin!Copy !req
521. You're not pulling that
on me now.Copy !req
522. Where's your son?
Where's Tate?Copy !req
523. Look out the window, baby.Copy !req
524. Look out the window, Tater.Copy !req
525. See the man
with the big white hat?Copy !req
526. Hey, hey!Copy !req
527. Kevin, come on. Come on, Kevin.Copy !req
528. Hey, what are you
trying to do?Copy !req
529. I'm trying to wake
him the hell up.Copy !req
530. A nuclear bomb
won't wake himCopy !req
531. with what the doc
gave him.Copy !req
532. We've been throughCopy !req
533. every building
within 12 blocksCopy !req
534. of the kidnap site.Copy !req
535. Have the teams
go two more blocks.Copy !req
536. Adam has been gone for 36 hours.Copy !req
537. What are we missing?Copy !req
538. "Look out
the window, Tater,Copy !req
539. see the man in
the big white hat?"Copy !req
540. When did he
say that?Copy !req
541. He mumbled it when
they put him on the bus.Copy !req
542. Sounds like a parent
talking to a baby.Copy !req
543. Do we know where
Kevin livedCopy !req
544. immediately after
his son was born?Copy !req
545. Two-family
houseCopy !req
546. in Astoria.Copy !req
547. The 109 Precinct checked itCopy !req
548. and the entire
neighborhood—nothing.Copy !req
549. What about where
he grew up?Copy !req
550. Maybe he's flashing back
on his own childhood.Copy !req
551. DMV has every
addressCopy !req
552. where Kevin
had a driver's license.Copy !req
553. The earliest one was East 200th
Street in the BronxCopy !req
554. when he was seventeen.Copy !req
555. Manhattan
Special Victims?Copy !req
556. Stabler, Benson.Copy !req
557. Thanks for helping
us out here.Copy !req
558. If you want
to call it that.Copy !req
559. There's your location.Copy !req
560. The parking lot?Copy !req
561. Sorry.Copy !req
562. We checked the buildings
on either side,Copy !req
563. no sign of him.Copy !req
564. We'll go through them
again if you like.Copy !req
565. Not necessary,
thanks.Copy !req
566. Hey, I hope you
find your kid.Copy !req
567. Damn it.Copy !req
568. We have nowhere
left to look.Copy !req
569. Elliot, back up, back up,
back up.Copy !req
570. Man in a white hat,
around the corner,Copy !req
571. down that
side street.Copy !req
572. He was talking about
that bakery.Copy !req
573. Elliot, that building,
boarded up.Copy !req
574. The building's
condemned.Copy !req
575. Perfect view from here
of the sign.Copy !req
576. Adam!Copy !req
577. Adam Forbes, you in there?Copy !req
578. Adam!
This is the police.Copy !req
579. If you can hear us,
bang on something.Copy !req
580. There's no way
to get in back here.Copy !req
581. Adam, do it again!Copy !req
582. Bang again!Copy !req
583. I can hear him,Copy !req
584. I just can't tell
where it's coming from.Copy !req
585. Kevin's gotten in and
out of there quickly.Copy !req
586. We're going to need
flashlights.Copy !req
587. And a crowbar.Copy !req
588. You okay?Copy !req
589. Yeah.Copy !req
590. Manhattan SVU to Central,
requesting a bus and ESUCopy !req
591. to 511 Valentine Avenue
in the Bronx.Copy !req
592. Watch it!Copy !req
593. Place is a hellhole.Copy !req
594. Adam, it's the police!Copy !req
595. Knock again!Copy !req
596. Elliot!Copy !req
597. Are you all right?Copy !req
598. Aside from my armpits
killing me, I'm fine.Copy !req
599. Take the flashlight.Copy !req
600. Step back.Copy !req
601. It's coming from
upstairs.Copy !req
602. Hold on.Copy !req
603. Adam...Copy !req
604. Adam, we're police officers.Copy !req
605. We're here to help you.
Are you okay?Copy !req
606. I think so.Copy !req
607. You think so?Copy !req
608. You okay?Copy !req
609. We're going to get
you loose here.Copy !req
610. Is Kevin coming back?Copy !req
611. No, you're safe now.Copy !req
612. Kevin hurt those guys
in the grocery store.Copy !req
613. We know, sweetheart.Copy !req
614. We're going to take you to
your mommy and daddy now.Copy !req
615. He said he had to protect me.Copy !req
616. Okay, you're
going home.Copy !req
617. Casey Novak?Copy !req
618. Yes?Copy !req
619. Rebecca Balthus.Copy !req
620. Kevin Walker's
Legal Aid attorney.Copy !req
621. Your, uh, boss order youCopy !req
622. to try my client?Copy !req
623. No, that was my decision,Copy !req
624. but the District Attorney
did sign off on it.Copy !req
625. Waste of time
and money.Copy !req
626. Kevin's a lunatic.Copy !req
627. Your client kidnapped
a five-year-old boy,Copy !req
628. murdered a manCopy !req
629. and almost killed another
who tried to stop him.Copy !req
630. And a jury will
institutionalize him quickerCopy !req
631. than you can say "cacisti."Copy !req
632. He's schizophrenic.Copy !req
633. He stalked
Adam ForbesCopy !req
634. for months.Copy !req
635. He took photographs
to help plan the kidnapping.Copy !req
636. He knew what
he was doing was wrong.Copy !req
637. He tied the boy up,Copy !req
638. and consciously tried
to elude the police.Copy !req
639. BecauseCopy !req
640. a bunch of little men
in his head told him to.Copy !req
641. We're pleading insanity.Copy !req
642. You'll get his psych records.
Read them.Copy !req
643. Not good enough.Copy !req
644. I want him examined
by our psychiatrist.Copy !req
645. Thank you.Copy !req
646. They started talking to me
when I was 25.Copy !req
647. Who's "they"?Copy !req
648. The cacistis?Copy !req
649. Yeah, the drinking
helped at first,Copy !req
650. but after a while
it didn't do anything.Copy !req
651. Let's talk about
Adam Forbes, okay?Copy !req
652. Okay.Copy !req
653. He came into the store one day.Copy !req
654. The cacistis told me
he was my son, Tate.Copy !req
655. I try not to listen to them,Copy !req
656. but they scream at me
if I don't.Copy !req
657. What are cacistis?Copy !req
658. Secret police.Copy !req
659. They know everything.Copy !req
660. And are they talking to you
right now?Copy !req
661. No.Copy !req
662. They go away when the
doctors give me drugs.Copy !req
663. Then why don't you
stay on the medication?Copy !req
664. I don't want to talk about that.Copy !req
665. Okay.
Fair enough.Copy !req
666. Do you remember the
night you took Adam?Copy !req
667. Yeah, I went up the fire escape
a couple of times before,Copy !req
668. but they kept telling me
to stop.Copy !req
669. Cacistis kept telling me
to stop.Copy !req
670. Until that night,
and they said it was time.Copy !req
671. Yeah, I told him not to scream,Copy !req
672. because I wasn't
going to hurt him.Copy !req
673. But he was scared.Copy !req
674. Like Lester.Copy !req
675. You feel pretty bad
about Lester, huh?Copy !req
676. I don't want to
talk about that.Copy !req
677. Why, because
you did something bad?Copy !req
678. Don't want to talk about it.Copy !req
679. Kevin...Copy !req
680. what did you do?Copy !req
681. You know I didn't mean to.Copy !req
682. I didn't want to kill him.Copy !req
683. He's the only person
who ever tried to help me.Copy !req
684. Then why did you stab him?Copy !req
685. Well,
the cacistisCopy !req
686. told me that he was going
to call the police,Copy !req
687. and that they would take
my son Tate away from me.Copy !req
688. So I grabbed a box cutter
and I couldn't stop myself.Copy !req
689. So the cacistisCopy !req
690. told you to throw the chair
at the police station?Copy !req
691. Oh, no.Copy !req
692. No, I did that
because I was scared.Copy !req
693. What were you scared of?Copy !req
694. The police officer.Copy !req
695. You were
scaredCopy !req
696. of Detective Stabler?Copy !req
697. Why?Copy !req
698. When he came back in, he told meCopy !req
699. the cacistis were going
to take my son,Copy !req
700. and that if I didn't tell them
where the boy wasCopy !req
701. they would kill me.Copy !req
702. It's not coercion.Copy !req
703. You pushed
Kevin intoCopy !req
704. a psychotic break
so I would drug himCopy !req
705. so you could coerce
his confession.Copy !req
706. I did what I had to do
to save that boy.Copy !req
707. Great, what are
you going to do next?Copy !req
708. Bash in people's skulls
to make them talk?Copy !req
709. You know,
your way,Copy !req
710. Adam wouldn't have been foundCopy !req
711. till he was starved to death.Copy !req
712. All right,
that's enough.Copy !req
713. Both of you.Copy !req
714. Did the medication
hurt Kevin?Copy !req
715. No.Copy !req
716. Then what's
the harm?Copy !req
717. Unless a court forces him to,
it's Kevin's choiceCopy !req
718. whether
to take it.Copy !req
719. We don't have the right
to make that decision for him.Copy !req
720. Do me a favor,
stop treating this perpCopy !req
721. like he's your patient.Copy !req
722. He became
my patientCopy !req
723. the second I gave him
that injection.Copy !req
724. Do me a favor,
start thinkingCopy !req
725. about the victims here.Copy !req
726. The kid he kidnapped,
the two people he stabbed.Copy !req
727. They're your victims, Doc,
not Kevin.Copy !req
728. You made Kevin a victim,Copy !req
729. and I'm going to testify
on his behalfCopy !req
730. if this goes to trial,Copy !req
731. which Kevin will winCopy !req
732. since you handed
the defense its case.Copy !req
733. How'd I do that?Copy !req
734. They're going to make you sayCopy !req
735. that he wasn't rational
until he was medicated,Copy !req
736. which means he's
not responsibleCopy !req
737. for his actions
before then.Copy !req
738. You get it now?Copy !req
739. Let him go,
Elliot.Copy !req
740. I didn't do anything wrong here.Copy !req
741. I understand why you did
what you did.Copy !req
742. You didn't have time
to think about the consequences.Copy !req
743. We saved that kid.Copy !req
744. Kevin goes to trial,
you testify,Copy !req
745. what you did to him
goes on the record.Copy !req
746. Every perp you collar
from then on,Copy !req
747. their lawyer's going to make you
tell the juryCopy !req
748. how you coerced a confession
from Kevin Walker.Copy !req
749. How do I make this right?Copy !req
750. Well, you got some
pop in that bat.Copy !req
751. Bet you didn't come all the way
here to watch me swing.Copy !req
752. I need you to plead
Kevin Walker out.Copy !req
753. Why is that?Copy !req
754. I can't tell you.Copy !req
755. Oh, well, I don't really
need to know, do I?Copy !req
756. You're an officer
of the court.Copy !req
757. And you don't want whatever
happened going on the record.Copy !req
758. I don't know your detectives
and I don't know you.Copy !req
759. When you worked felonies,Copy !req
760. you had a different cop
on every case, right?Copy !req
761. Yeah. So?Copy !req
762. Special Victims,
it's just us.Copy !req
763. We got
to trust each other.Copy !req
764. You're asking for
a hell of a lot of trust.Copy !req
765. Either way, Kevin Walker
goes someplaceCopy !req
766. where he can't hurt anybody.Copy !req
767. You take him to trial,
a good detectiveCopy !req
768. loses his credibilityCopy !req
769. as a cop.Copy !req
770. He'll never be able
to testify in court again.Copy !req
771. His only choicesCopy !req
772. will be to quit or
finish his careerCopy !req
773. in the Property
Clerk's office.Copy !req
774. What this detective did
was necessary?Copy !req
775. Under the circumstances,Copy !req
776. I can't say I would
have done any different.Copy !req
777. Can you assure me
the defendant wasn't hurtCopy !req
778. and I'm not going to get
my ass kicked in courtCopy !req
779. on a technicality?Copy !req
780. Yes.Copy !req
781. I kidnapped Adam ForbesCopy !req
782. because I thought
he was my son Tate.Copy !req
783. I stabbed Lester Hale
and Emilio VasquezCopy !req
784. because I was afraid they
would take him away.Copy !req
785. I'm a paranoid
schizophrenic,Copy !req
786. and was not medicated
at the time.Copy !req
787. And though I am not
being heldCopy !req
788. legally accountable
for my actions,Copy !req
789. I feel completely
responsible for them.Copy !req
790. You can never know
how sorry I amCopy !req
791. for all the harm I've caused.Copy !req
792. Are the PeopleCopy !req
793. satisfied the requirementsCopy !req
794. of the plea agreement
have been met?Copy !req
795. We are, Your Honor.Copy !req
796. The defendant
will rise.Copy !req
797. Kevin James Walker,Copy !req
798. on the counts of
second degree murder,Copy !req
799. attempted murder and kidnapping,Copy !req
800. I am entering a plea
of not guilty by reasonCopy !req
801. of mental disease
or defect.Copy !req
802. I order you remanded
to the custodyCopy !req
803. of the Commissioner
of Mental HealthCopy !req
804. until such time...
Mental Health?Copy !req
805. You can't send
me back there.Copy !req
806. Kevin, take it...Copy !req
807. Your Honor, you can't
send me back there.Copy !req
808. Please, be quiet
Mr. Walker.
They'll kill me.Copy !req
809. Another word
and I'll have you removed.
They will murder me,Copy !req
810. Your Honor,
if you send me back...Copy !req
811. Remove
the defendant.Copy !req
812. just like they murdered
Martha. No! No! No!Copy !req
813. No, Your Honor,
listen to me.Copy !req
814. No, this is you!Copy !req
815. You did this!Copy !req
816. They sent youCopy !req
817. to shut me up so I wouldn't
talk about Martha!Copy !req
818. Don't let them kill me!Copy !req
819. Don't let them kill me
like they killed Martha!Copy !req
820. Don't send me back there!
Please don't send me!Copy !req
821. What the hell was Kevin
talking about?Copy !req
822. I have no idea.Copy !req
823. So it has nothing to doCopy !req
824. with whatever you got me
to cover up?Copy !req
825. I'm not covering up
anything.Copy !req
826. I put my ass on the line
for you when I pled Kevin out.Copy !req
827. Now he's lucid, screaming
about someone killing Martha.Copy !req
828. Well, I'm telling you I don't
know who Martha is.Copy !req
829. You better
find out.Copy !req
830. If there's been another murder
in this case,Copy !req
831. I am holding you responsible,Copy !req
832. and your dirty little secret's
going on the record.Copy !req
833. Elliot, Novak is
digging in her heels.Copy !req
834. She wants an
answer by tomorrow.Copy !req
835. Is there any chance we can
get Kevin's psych records?Copy !req
836. His pleading out takes away
our right to see them.Copy !req
837. Then how in the hell
am I going to prove to NovakCopy !req
838. that I'm not trying
to cover up for murder?Copy !req
839. We have to figure out what Kevin
was rambling on about in court.Copy !req
840. Well, I just spoke with
Kevin's social worker.Copy !req
841. Says he was never
institutionalized.Copy !req
842. Well, where was heCopy !req
843. before
Lester Hale's grocery store?Copy !req
844. Three years at an adult homeCopy !req
845. for the mentally ill,
out in Queens,Copy !req
846. called Jackson Manor,
until he walked out a year ago.Copy !req
847. What about our mystery
murder victim Martha?Copy !req
848. Don't know.
But Jackson ManorCopy !req
849. says there hasn't beenCopy !req
850. a homicide there
since the early '80s.Copy !req
851. They say why Kevin left?
No, but they couldn'tCopy !req
852. force him to stay.Copy !req
853. He did tell an aide
that he was going homeCopy !req
854. to his wife and son.Copy !req
855. I told the detective
on the phoneCopy !req
856. that I didn't want
to talk about Kevin.Copy !req
857. Mrs. Walker, I'm sorry.Copy !req
858. I just need
to ask you one question.Copy !req
859. Did Kevin ever talk to you about
a woman named Martha?Copy !req
860. A woman who lived next door
to him at Jackson Manor?Copy !req
861. Yes, constantly. Why?Copy !req
862. Because in court
this morning,Copy !req
863. Kevin talked about someone
named Martha being murdered.Copy !req
864. Then maybe you should ask his
cacistis instead of to me.Copy !req
865. Kevin's been on
medication ever sinceCopy !req
866. we arrested him.Copy !req
867. He wasn't delusional.Copy !req
868. Then I don't know
what to tell you.Copy !req
869. If that's all...Copy !req
870. Do you know why he left
Jackson Manor?Copy !req
871. He said they kicked him out.Copy !req
872. When did he tell you that?Copy !req
873. Last year...Copy !req
874. when he asked to move back
in with me and Tate.Copy !req
875. You let him come back?Copy !req
876. He called from the home.Copy !req
877. Said he was on his meds,
doing great,Copy !req
878. that he wanted to see us.Copy !req
879. I told him he could come over
the next day.Copy !req
880. What happened?Copy !req
881. He showed up at
the apartment a week later.Copy !req
882. Said the cacistis wouldn't find
him here.Copy !req
883. I told him to leave.Copy !req
884. He lied to me, just like
all the other times.Copy !req
885. He wasn't
taking his meds.Copy !req
886. Did you ask him why?Copy !req
887. I loved him... I still do,Copy !req
888. but I couldn't stand
the lies anymore.Copy !req
889. He said Jackson Manor ran out
of his medication.Copy !req
890. How could that happen?Copy !req
891. I hear you're jammed up.Copy !req
892. Word travels fast.Copy !req
893. I got a call from Novak.Copy !req
894. I told her the injection
didn't harm Kevin, and...Copy !req
895. he's right
where he belongs.Copy !req
896. I'm sure you didn't
come all the way up hereCopy !req
897. at this time of night
just to tell me that.Copy !req
898. No.Copy !req
899. Martha Davis, age 45.Copy !req
900. Lived in the room next to Kevin
at Jackson Manor.Copy !req
901. And I thought I was going
to have to go throughCopy !req
902. every obituary on the Internet.Copy !req
903. How'd you find out
about Jackson Manor?Copy !req
904. Friend at the Health Department.Copy !req
905. This friend of yours know
how a place like thatCopy !req
906. could run out of medication?Copy !req
907. You know, the good adult homesCopy !req
908. help schizophrenics
lead productive lives.Copy !req
909. The bad ones, the flophouses,
just provide minimum careCopy !req
910. while their owners line their
pockets with government money.Copy !req
911. So instead of drugsCopy !req
912. for their patients,
they use the moneyCopy !req
913. to buy themselves Mercedes.Copy !req
914. What was Martha Davis'
cause of death?Copy !req
915. Uh, suicide.Copy !req
916. Why'd Kevin say
she was murdered?Copy !req
917. Let's ask him.Copy !req
918. What's he doing here?Copy !req
919. We need to speak
to Kevin.Copy !req
920. Speak to him?Copy !req
921. Or send him into another
psychotic break?Copy !req
922. I know you didn't mean
to kill Lester.Copy !req
923. And I'm sorryCopy !req
924. about what happened.Copy !req
925. Kevin, I'm sorry.Copy !req
926. I'm sorry for
what I did.Copy !req
927. That little boy might have died
if I hadn't found him.Copy !req
928. Yes, I know.Copy !req
929. I know.Copy !req
930. What do you want?Copy !req
931. We know you were telling the
truth about Martha in court.Copy !req
932. I can't talk about that.Copy !req
933. Why can't you talk about that?Copy !req
934. Because they'll get me.Copy !req
935. The cacistis?Copy !req
936. No. No.Copy !req
937. No, the people from the home.Copy !req
938. Kevin, nobody from
Jackson Manor can hurt you now.Copy !req
939. But if you're right—Copy !req
940. if they killed Martha,Copy !req
941. you know they're going to
do it to someone elseCopy !req
942. some time unless we stop them.Copy !req
943. We need your help.Copy !req
944. Last summer, one day
during the heat waveCopy !req
945. Martha shut herself
in her roomCopy !req
946. and wouldn't come out.Copy !req
947. I, uh... begged them
to help herCopy !req
948. because she was burning up.Copy !req
949. You see, she was burning up.Copy !req
950. And they won't turn
the air-conditioning on thereCopy !req
951. unless you pay extra,
and she couldn't affordCopy !req
952. to pay extra.Copy !req
953. Kevin, what happened?Copy !req
954. Well, the same night,
I heard a commotion.Copy !req
955. They tried
to save her.Copy !req
956. They put her in a tub
full of ice water,Copy !req
957. and... you know
it was too late.Copy !req
958. And I asked them what happened,Copy !req
959. and they said
she slit her wrist;Copy !req
960. but they were lying.Copy !req
961. I knew they were lying.Copy !req
962. So I started screaming.Copy !req
963. I started screaming,
screaming at themCopy !req
964. calling them killers,Copy !req
965. telling them that I'm going
to tell the police.Copy !req
966. And the next dayCopy !req
967. I went for my medication,Copy !req
968. and they told me
that they ran out.Copy !req
969. And the same thing
the next day,Copy !req
970. and the next day,Copy !req
971. and then on the fourth day,
they told meCopy !req
972. that they didn't have any room
for meCopy !req
973. and I was going
to have to leave.Copy !req
974. Kevin...Copy !req
975. why didn't you tell anyone?Copy !req
976. Well, they said if I did,Copy !req
977. what happened to Martha
would happen to me.Copy !req
978. Whoever runs Jackson Manor's
as guilty of killing LesterCopy !req
979. as if he put the knife
in himself.Copy !req
980. Kevin, thank you.Copy !req
981. I promise you,
we're going to make this right.Copy !req
982. Excuse me.
Excuse me.Copy !req
983. Can I ask
you something?Copy !req
984. Yes.Copy !req
985. When I moved out of there,Copy !req
986. they wouldn't let me
take my things,Copy !req
987. and in my room I had a really
nice photo of my son Tate.Copy !req
988. Could you just bring it to me?Copy !req
989. You got it.Copy !req
990. No security.
Anyone could walk in here.Copy !req
991. Yeah, or out.Copy !req
992. A health facility
and they're smoking?Copy !req
993. Who's going
to stop them?Copy !req
994. Who's going to put
this guy's pants on?Copy !req
995. You got nobody
supervising these people.Copy !req
996. Except her.
She's handing out meds.Copy !req
997. She must work here.Copy !req
998. Tomlinson.Copy !req
999. Tomlinson.Copy !req
1000. Police. We need to see
Kevin Walker's records.Copy !req
1001. She don't speak English.Copy !req
1002. Of course she doesn't,Copy !req
1003. but she's passing out
the medication.Copy !req
1004. Actually, this is exactly
what I'm looking for.Copy !req
1005. Thank you.Copy !req
1006. Put that down.Copy !req
1007. Those records are confidential.Copy !req
1008. Excuse me.
Who are you?Copy !req
1009. Randall Haber, the owner.Copy !req
1010. Mr. Haber, this is
a binding consentCopy !req
1011. signed by Kevin Walker
and his attorneyCopy !req
1012. permitting us to
see his records.Copy !req
1013. Why don't you
stand there and read it.Copy !req
1014. It says here that
Kevin Walker was givenCopy !req
1015. ten milligrams
of olanzapine before
bedtime last night.Copy !req
1016. Mr. Haber, we find that
really very funnyCopy !req
1017. because Mr. Walker
hasn't lived here in a year.Copy !req
1018. I don't know how this happened.Copy !req
1019. Sure you don't.Copy !req
1020. Why don't you put
your hands behind
your back,Copy !req
1021. since you're under
arrest for fraud.Copy !req
1022. You're making a mistake.Copy !req
1023. My wife is on
the city council.Copy !req
1024. Really? That's great.
I'll tell you what.Copy !req
1025. We're going to make
a phone call,Copy !req
1026. see if she wants
to join youCopy !req
1027. when we parade your sorry ass
in front of the TV cameras.Copy !req
1028. I didn't even know
Kevin Walker was gone.Copy !req
1029. Your administrator's
going to testifyCopy !req
1030. that you ordered her to keep
Kevin on the booksCopy !req
1031. so you could get his money
from the State.Copy !req
1032. Those people are no longer
your ownCopy !req
1033. personal cash cows.Copy !req
1034. That's enough.Copy !req
1035. You think you have a case,Copy !req
1036. charge him
so he can make bail.Copy !req
1037. Fine.Copy !req
1038. What the hell is this?Copy !req
1039. Randall Haber,Copy !req
1040. you're now under arrest
for the murdersCopy !req
1041. of Lester Hale
and Martha Davis.Copy !req
1042. Murder?Copy !req
1043. Martha Davis committed suicide.Copy !req
1044. We exhumed her body.Copy !req
1045. She died of severe
heat stroke.Copy !req
1046. Because you told themCopy !req
1047. not to turn on
her air-conditioning.Copy !req
1048. A jury's going
to believe him?Copy !req
1049. He murdered that grocer
in cold blood.Copy !req
1050. Which only happenedCopy !req
1051. because you withheld
his medicationCopy !req
1052. and kicked him out
on the street.Copy !req
1053. That makes you responsible
for Lester Hale's death.Copy !req
1054. Okay...Copy !req
1055. one count of Man Two with
a sentencing recommendation.Copy !req
1056. Are you crazy?
I'm not making a deal.Copy !req
1057. Why did you tellCopy !req
1058. the aide to cut Martha's wrists?Copy !req
1059. I heard you.Copy !req
1060. He doesn't know
what he heard.Copy !req
1061. He's a mental patient.Copy !req
1062. He's back
on his medication.Copy !req
1063. He's perfectly lucid,
and he's our star witness.Copy !req
1064. Two counts, Man One,
concurrent.Copy !req
1065. He does his 15.Copy !req
1066. 15 years?Copy !req
1067. That or a jury can sentence
you to 25 to life.Copy !req
1068. It's your choice.Copy !req
1069. A deal.Copy !req
1070. A deal.Copy !req
1071. How are you doing?Copy !req
1072. I'm okay.Copy !req
1073. Good.Copy !req
1074. You found my picture?Copy !req
1075. Uh, no. I'm sorry.
They tossed everything.Copy !req
1076. I did get you
a camera, though.Copy !req
1077. What's that for?Copy !req
1078. I brought him to see
how greatCopy !req
1079. his father's doing.Copy !req
1080. It's okay, Tate. Say hello.Copy !req
1081. Hello, Daddy.Copy !req
1082. Hey, hey...
hey, Tate.Copy !req
1083. Hi.Copy !req
1084. How you doing?Copy !req
1085. Good.Copy !req
1086. I missed you.Copy !req
1087. I missed you, too, Dad.Copy !req
1088. I missed you
very, very much.Copy !req
