206. I was here working
a double shift.Copy !req
207. We'll be checking on that.Copy !req

to go outCopy !req
214. and prove my manhood,
if you know what I mean.Copy !req
215. Dr. Heints is a pioneer
in the field.Copy !req
216. She operates on the assumptionCopy !req
217. that all sex offenders were

228. she'd be a hero.Copy !req
229. Sexual predators
can't be changed.Copy !req
230. All you can do
is lock them up.Copy !req
231. Yeah, but sooner or later,
they get out.Copy !req
232. Seven out of ten rape again.Copy !req
233. As least
she's trying something.Copy !req
234. What's wrong with
civil commitment?Copy !req
235. Ah, yes, after prison,
toss them in the nuthouse.Copy !req
236. Punish them twice
for the same crime.Copy !req

247. The day he got out of prison,Copy !req
248. he was civilly committed
to the state psych hospital.Copy !req
249. Where is Benny now?Copy !req
250. On the street. A few months ago,Copy !req
251. he was released
from the psych hospitalCopy !req
252. right here
on Randall's Island.Copy !req
253. Of all the psychosCopy !req
254. our victim could have set free,
why this one?Copy !req
255. She claimed his treatment
was a complete success.Copy !req
256. Planning your next rape, Benny?Copy !req
257. Dr. H. completely rewired me.Copy !req
258. I don't even think that way
anymore.Copy !req
259. STABLER
Really?Copy !req
260. Now, isn't this your old
restraint of choice here?Copy !req
261. You don't have to broadcast it.Copy !req
262. I paid my debt,
and I'm registered.Copy !req
263. Seen your
therapist lately?Copy !req
264. I never missed
a session.Copy !req
265. Afraid this week's is canceled.Copy !req
266. Why?Copy !req
267. Somebody put her
in the hospital.Copy !req
268. What happened?Copy !req
269. You tell us.Copy !req
270. I would never hurt the doc.Copy !req
271. She's the reason why I'm out.Copy !req
272. Where is she?Copy !req
273. Why would you need
to know that?Copy !req
274. I'd like to send her flowers.Copy !req
275. She's like a mother to me.Copy !req
276. So tell me,Copy !req
277. why do you hate your mother?Copy !req
278. I told you,
it wasn't me.Copy !req
279. Where were you Sunday night?Copy !req
280. Home.Copy !req
281. Don't tell me. Alone.Copy !req
282. Yeah. So?Copy !req
283. Can somebody put you there?Copy !req
284. Yeah.Copy !req
285. Mr. Ankle Bracelet.Copy !req
286. It's a pilot program.Copy !req
287. One of the conditions
of his releaseCopy !req
288. is that he not go out at night.Copy !req
289. So there's no way
that he could haveCopy !req
290. gone out last
Sunday night?Copy !req
291. If he had so much as stepped out
onto the sidewalk,Copy !req
292. I'd have been notified.Copy !req
293. He's never broken curfew once.Copy !req
294. Really? How do you
know that for sure?Copy !req
295. We've got him on GPS.Copy !req
296. This system can track him
within six feet.Copy !req
297. So, You can tell us
where he is right now?Copy !req
298. See the moving dot?Copy !req
299. 56th and Broadway.Copy !req
300. Two blocks from work,
on his way home.Copy !req
301. What are the red zones?Copy !req
302. Known areas of prostitution.Copy !req
303. Most of his victims
were hookers.Copy !req
304. Well, they're now off-limits.Copy !req
305. He's getting awful close
to a ho zone right now.Copy !req
306. What happens
if he takes a right here?Copy !req
307. Well, that would signal
an unauthorized departure.Copy !req
308. And I would be beeped
immediately on my PDA.Copy !req
309. Well, get ready.Copy !req
310. Nope. Resisted temptation again.Copy !req
311. And there's no way
of beating the system?Copy !req
312. It's foolproof.Copy !req
313. Although, every time
they build a better mousetrap,Copy !req
314. someone finds a way
to outsmart it.Copy !req
315. Looks like he's itching
to get out.Copy !req
316. This guy Benny's
climbing the walls.Copy !req
317. Okay, thanks.Copy !req
318. Munch just got the LUDs
from Dr. Heints' patient line.Copy !req
319. How'd we get those?Copy !req
320. Cragen talked her
into giving us the hourCopy !req
321. before the attack.Copy !req
322. Any calls from Benny?Copy !req
323. No, and none coming
from his building.Copy !req
324. It was a pay phone.Copy !req
325. In this neighborhood?Copy !req
326. No, 86th and Lex.Copy !req
327. Now, you got a subway
right down here,Copy !req
328. and two stops up
on the 6 trainCopy !req
329. is the pay phone.Copy !req
330. But how'd he beat the monitor?Copy !req
331. The guy's in
electronics.Copy !req
332. I think he's also trying
to climb out the window.Copy !req
333. Just his cat.Copy !req
334. Unauthorized departure.Copy !req
335. Cat must be a diversion.Copy !req
336. Fin, he's on the move.Copy !req
337. You see him
coming out back?Copy !req
338. I've got nothing back here.
It's dead.Copy !req
339. How the hell
did he get out?Copy !req
340. I don't know.Copy !req
341. Liv.Copy !req
342. Check out the cat.Copy !req
343. Benny's ankle bracelet.Copy !req
344. That son of a bitch
slipped his leash.Copy !req
345. Benny Ralsay pop up
on the radar yet?Copy !req
346. No, and we're
working blind here.Copy !req
347. We can't even get
into his apartment.Copy !req
348. We're still waiting
on a warrant.Copy !req
349. Maybe his employer
could steer us
in some direction.Copy !req
350. Yeah, the unemployment line.Copy !req
351. It turns out he was fired
yesterday after we left.Copy !req
352. All the coworkers revolted
when they found out who he was.Copy !req
353. Well, if he's smart,
he's halfway cross-
country by now.Copy !req
354. The next of kin is listed
as a mother in Pennsylvania.Copy !req
355. Authorities there
are watching her house.Copy !req
356. Tell them not to
hold their breath.Copy !req
357. We just subpoenaed the
visitor logs from Attica.Copy !req
358. Mom didn't visit him
once in eight years,Copy !req
359. nor did anyone else.Copy !req
360. Where are you
on the search warrant?Copy !req
361. Floundering in
unchartered waters.Copy !req
362. What is the problem?Copy !req
363. This guy violated
the conditions of his release.Copy !req
364. He served his full
prison sentenceCopy !req
365. and was never on parole.Copy !req
366. Therefore, he was never subjectCopy !req
367. to the Department
of Corrections' supervision.Copy !req
368. So who has jurisdiction?Copy !req
369. The Department
of Mental Health.Copy !req
370. But remember, this
is their first civil
commitment release.Copy !req
371. They have never had to
deal with enforcement.Copy !req
372. I'm telling youCopy !req
373. this guy is
the Duct Tape Rapist.Copy !req
374. His victim is
his own psychiatrist.Copy !req
375. More than enough for a warrant
if Benny was on parole.Copy !req
376. Legally, he is Joe Citizen.Copy !req
377. The standards for probable cause
are much higher.Copy !req
378. I need more.Copy !req
379. Our only road left is
his shrink-slash-victim.Copy !req
380. Get her to hand over his file.Copy !req
381. Might have trouble finding it.Copy !req
382. Just got word somebody
vandalized her office.Copy !req
383. First he attacks you
personally, now professionally.Copy !req
384. This is a vendetta.Copy !req
385. In your sessions
with Benny,Copy !req
386. has he been unusually
upset recently?Copy !req
387. I take all my patients
to painful places.Copy !req
388. None have lashed out
like this.Copy !req
389. This is empty.Copy !req
390. What was in here?Copy !req
391. My session tapes
from the last week.Copy !req
392. Why would he take
all of them?Copy !req
393. They're sent out
for transcription.Copy !req
394. To ensure privacy,
they're-they're labeledCopy !req
395. by case number, not name.Copy !req
396. So whoever did this
would not knowCopy !req
397. which tape was his.Copy !req
398. Dr. Heints, has BennyCopy !req
399. disclosed anything
incriminating lately?Copy !req
400. Look, he hasn't reoffended.Copy !req
401. Course you couldn't say
even if he had, right?Copy !req
402. Dust this. Boy, I tell you,
therapists and priests—Copy !req
403. always there to listen,
just not allowedCopy !req
404. to tell, huh?Copy !req
405. Benny is my biggest success.Copy !req
406. He had a new life, a good job,
a healthy relationshipCopy !req
407. until you persecuted him.Copy !req
408. Who was this so-called
healthy relationship with?Copy !req
409. Doctor, you wantCopy !req
410. to clear him,
we need to find him.Copy !req
411. I only know her first name. Amy.Copy !req
412. Well, who else
would he go to?Copy !req
413. He was estranged
from his family,Copy !req
414. but I'd been encouraging him
to reconnect.Copy !req
415. He's an embarrassment
to the family.Copy !req
416. We want nothing
to do with him.Copy !req
417. He's your baby brother.Copy !req
418. If he had trouble,
seems like he'd come to you.Copy !req
419. Not after last time.Copy !req
420. I made myself
crystal clear:
lose my number.Copy !req
421. When was this?Copy !req
422. Couple of weeks ago.Copy !req
423. Said he needed to rebuild
his family support system.Copy !req
424. I don't know what talk show he's
watching, but I ain't buying.Copy !req
425. So, you don't think
he's changed?Copy !req
426. I got a wife
and three kids, all girls.Copy !req
427. I can't take
any chances.Copy !req
428. You at least catch up?Copy !req
429. Find out what's going on
in his life?Copy !req
430. New friends?Copy !req
431. Maybe a special lady?Copy !req
432. Yeah.
That was his big pitch.Copy !req
433. Said he was dating
a nice wholesome girl.Copy !req
434. Amy?Copy !req
435. Yeah. That was her name.Copy !req
436. I thought for sure
he was making that up.Copy !req
437. Why is that?Copy !req
438. Get this—
said she was a librarian.Copy !req
439. Here you are, Trishan.Copy !req
440. Benny and I just celebrated
our one-month anniversary.Copy !req
441. Uh, have you ever noticed, Amy,Copy !req
442. that Benny wears
an ankle bracelet?Copy !req
443. It's a little hard to miss.Copy !req
444. Oh, I know all about
his house arrest.Copy !req
445. And you didn't have
a problem with that?Copy !req
446. It's not his fault.Copy !req
447. Well, whose
fault is it?Copy !req
448. Benny had an addiction,
but it's under control now.Copy !req
449. Lady...
( clears throat )Copy !req
450. I gotta tell you,Copy !req
451. you are pretty damn
understanding.Copy !req
452. We have a whole section here
on that subject.Copy !req
453. You'd be surprised
how many peopleCopy !req
454. have a problem with gambling.Copy !req
455. Amy?Copy !req
456. Your boyfriend raped
over 30 women.Copy !req
457. Why would you say something
so horrible?Copy !req
458. He told you that he was
from Albany, right?Copy !req
459. In the early '90s, Benny was
known as the Duct Tape Rapist.Copy !req
460. No.Copy !req
461. Amy, where is he?Copy !req
462. He's at my apartment.Copy !req
463. He said his sentence was over.Copy !req
464. It was the first time
he ever spent the night.Copy !req
465. Ah, sweetie, you're early.Copy !req
466. I made your favorite.Copy !req
467. I wanted to surprise you.Copy !req
468. Trust me, Amy can't handle
any more surprises.Copy !req
469. Whatcha cookin'?Copy !req
470. That's a bad idea.Copy !req
471. Step away from
the knives.Copy !req
472. Step away
from the knives!Copy !req
473. You're a creature
of habit, Benny.Copy !req
474. You might want
to change your MO.Copy !req
475. Benny, tell me something.Copy !req
476. How many times
have you gone outCopy !req
477. while the cat stayed in?Copy !req
478. Never.Copy !req
479. This is my first time.Copy !req
480. Right. Where are
the tapes you stole?Copy !req
481. I told you!Copy !req
482. I didn't break
into the doc's office.Copy !req
483. And you didn't attack her
the night before?Copy !req
484. I don't do that anymore.Copy !req
485. Oh, I believe you,Copy !req
486. but Amy doesn't.Copy !req
487. What did you tell her?Copy !req
488. Ah, just a few things
that you were obviouslyCopy !req
489. too bashful to mention.Copy !req
490. That made her want
to learn more.Copy !req
491. So, she went
through your suitcase.Copy !req
492. She doesn't remember
posing for these.Copy !req
493. Or giving you permissionCopy !req
494. to take them
while she was sleeping.Copy !req
495. She looked so pretty.Copy !req
496. Well, she wasn't
when she found these. Uh...Copy !req
497. gloves, crowbar,
glass cutter...Copy !req
498. Oh, and look a-here,
it's our old friend,Copy !req
499. Mr. Duct Tape.Copy !req
500. What exactly were you doing
with these?Copy !req
501. Okay, I admit I
still think about it.Copy !req
502. It's-it's a
constant struggle,Copy !req
503. but the doc was
keeping me clean.Copy !req
504. Try again.Copy !req
505. I didn't buy them
until you started
hounding me.Copy !req
506. But I wasn't going
to use them, I swear.Copy !req
507. Benny, science has advanced
an awful lot since you went in.Copy !req
508. Now, all this stuff
is at our crime lab right now.Copy !req
509. If there's even one
microscopic wood fiberCopy !req
510. on this crowbar,
they can match itCopy !req
511. to the busted drawer
in her office.Copy !req
512. If the strip you bound
Dr. Heints withCopy !req
513. was the last off that roll,
we'll know it.Copy !req
514. I didn't do it!Copy !req
515. I wouldn't!
Don't you get it?Copy !req
516. Dr. H was helping me.Copy !req
517. Then why
did you run?Copy !req
518. Because my life here was ruined,
thanks to you.Copy !req
519. Can you believe
this guy?Copy !req
520. It's our fault
he's a sick...Copy !req
521. We were way
off track, huh?Copy !req
522. Yeah.Copy !req
523. Mental Health Board
finally took a standCopy !req
524. on the violations.Copy !req
525. We're shipping Benny
back to the state hospital.Copy !req
526. Screw civil commitment.Copy !req
527. We're putting this
guy back in prison.Copy !req
528. I'm afraid not.Copy !req
529. I just talked
to the lab.Copy !req
530. Nothing matches
Benny's tools or prints.Copy !req
531. So he must have worn gloves.Copy !req
532. Well, whoever broke in,
didn't.Copy !req
533. Prints were everywhere,
including on the locked drawer.Copy !req
534. Belong to a Robert Logan.Copy !req
535. I don't remember
that name from her
sex offender list.Copy !req
536. He's not a con.Copy !req
537. He's a second-year law student
from Hudson U.Copy !req
538. How do we have his prints?Copy !req
539. He clerked for the city
last summer.Copy !req
540. Well, Dr. Heints teaches
at Hudson U.Copy !req
541. Maybe she treats
some of her students there, too.Copy !req
542. His address is in the file.Copy !req
543. Pick him up.Copy !req
544. What's going on?Copy !req
545. Bloody mess.
Suicide attempt.Copy !req
546. Oh, maybe not.
Female victim?Copy !req
547. Male. Some law student.Copy !req
548. Robert Logan.Copy !req
549. Yeah, that should be him
right there.Copy !req
550. He's a suspect in a rape.Copy !req
551. He needs to be takenCopy !req
552. to Bellevue prison ward.Copy !req
553. Liv.Copy !req
554. What the hell is
she doing here?Copy !req
555. When I got to Robert's
apartment, he was despondent.Copy !req
556. He'd locked himself
in the bathroom.Copy !req
557. I feared the worst,
immediately called 911.Copy !req
558. Well, what were you thinkingCopy !req
559. making a house call after
what had just happened to you?Copy !req
560. He was a patient
in crisis.Copy !req
561. He's the one
who attacked you.Copy !req
562. ( sighs ):
I suspected that.Copy !req
563. What?
What?Copy !req
564. The last time I saw him,
he had anger issues with me.Copy !req
565. Well, when was that?Copy !req
566. Friday.Copy !req
567. Doctor, it would've saved us
an awful lot of time and energyCopy !req
568. if you had told
us this before.Copy !req
569. I couldn't.Copy !req
570. Remember, I had
no memory of that night.Copy !req
571. My testimony would have
been based solelyCopy !req
572. on privileged communication,
which is inadmissible.Copy !req
573. We have a very
resourceful ADA.Copy !req
574. She would've found
a way around it.Copy !req
575. It's fruit
of the poisoned tree.Copy !req
576. Without
your independent investigation,Copy !req
577. any half-decent defense attorneyCopy !req
578. would've thrown
the entire case out.Copy !req
579. Well, you seem to haveCopy !req
580. the whole thing figured out.Copy !req
581. Now, why exactly
was Robert angry with you?Copy !req
582. I told him
I needed to transition himCopy !req
583. to another therapist.Copy !req
584. Because he threatened you?Copy !req
585. No, because
I'd lost control.Copy !req
586. Because I took him too far
too quickly.Copy !req
587. He'd become obsessed with me.Copy !req
588. I thought it best
he have a male therapist.Copy !req
589. So obviously Robert didn't
handle the rejection too well.Copy !req
590. Greta loves me.Copy !req
591. She's leaving her husband,
you know.Copy !req
592. To be with you?Copy !req
593. Yeah. In our sessions,
all we do is make love.Copy !req
594. Who initiated
this relationship?Copy !req
595. Greta.Copy !req
596. She was professional at first,Copy !req
597. and then she started dressing
seductively, just for me.Copy !req
598. How did you respond
to that?Copy !req
599. I had dreams about her
every night.Copy !req
600. I couldn't think
about anything else, you know?Copy !req
601. Why did you steal
her session tapes?Copy !req
602. So I could hear her voice.Copy !req
603. It hurts when I'm not with her.Copy !req
604. Where are the tapes now?Copy !req
605. Somebody stole them.Copy !req
606. I have to get them backCopy !req
607. because they prove
that she loves me.Copy !req
608. Really?
Yeah.Copy !req
609. Tell me about them.Copy !req
610. Well, uh... she wants me
to take my clothes offCopy !req
611. so we can take a bath together.Copy !req
612. She wants me
to suck on her breasts.Copy !req
613. Does she ask you to hurt her?Copy !req
614. No!Copy !req
615. Then why did you?Copy !req
616. Excuse me,
I would never hurt her.Copy !req
617. But what about the crack house?Copy !req
618. You called and told her
to meet you there.Copy !req
619. Tell me what happened.Copy !req
620. I can't remember. I-I...Copy !req
621. I lose chunks of time, you know.
I always have.Copy !req
622. That's why I started seeing her
in the first place.Copy !req
623. You have blackouts?Copy !req
624. I don't know. I don't know.
I don't know.Copy !req
625. You know, I go to sleep
and I wake up days laterCopy !req
626. and sometimes...
sometimes it's in another town.Copy !req
627. Did you black out
on Sunday night?Copy !req
628. I just told you
I don't know.Copy !req
629. I don't... I don't know.Copy !req
630. What is the last thing
you do remember?Copy !req
631. Greta breaking up with me.Copy !req
632. What happened?Copy !req
633. She just said she didn't want
to see me anymore.Copy !req
634. It's common for patientsCopy !req
635. to fantasize
about their therapists.Copy !req
636. In psychiatry,
it's called transference.Copy !req
637. Around here,
we call it sexual assault.Copy !req
638. Robert doesn't
deny the attack.Copy !req
639. He just has no memory
of the details.Copy !req
640. Oh, bull.
Plus, he has a historyCopy !req
641. of going into
psychogenic fugue states.Copy !req
642. Okay, I'll bite.
What's that?Copy !req
643. Dissociative episodes where
one loses days, even weeks.Copy !req
644. The patient is not aware
of the time that's lostCopy !req
645. nor has any memory of
what happened during it.Copy !req
646. Including a half-assed
suicide attempt?Copy !req
647. I read the report.
He sliced the wrong way.Copy !req
648. He sliced deep enough
to have the hospital
admit him.Copy !req
649. Look, this is obviously
a desperate attemptCopy !req
650. to get the doctor
back in his life.Copy !req
651. Or set up for a handy
insanity defense.Copy !req
652. In which case
we couldn't touch him.Copy !req
653. His attorney has
requested a 730 exam.Copy !req
654. I've asked our civil actions ADACopy !req
655. to observe
the psychiatric evaluationCopy !req
656. and let me know if and when
he is fit to stand trial.Copy !req
657. Well, frankly, I don't
see that happening
any time soon.Copy !req
658. He may be crazy,Copy !req
659. but he was competent enough
to plan that crime.Copy !req
660. Okay, look, we'll dig
into his mental state
leading up to it.Copy !req
661. Robert hasn't been
to class in weeks.Copy !req
662. Is that a habit
with him?Copy !req
663. No, it only happened
once before.Copy !req
664. When?
Last year.Copy !req
665. He made Law Review,
but the pressure got to him.Copy !req
666. Day his article was due,
he disappeared.Copy !req
667. When did he come back?Copy !req
668. A week later,
thinking it was due day.Copy !req
669. He freaked when they told him
he wouldn't be published.Copy !req
670. I had to force him
to get out of bed and eat.Copy !req
671. So you two were dating?Copy !req
672. I tried.Copy !req
673. It seemed like
he needed me.Copy !req
674. He's so smart and cute.Copy !req
675. But troubled.Copy !req
676. He's an overachiever.Copy !req
677. He worked so hardCopy !req
678. he just didn't have
any energy left for, you know.Copy !req
679. He's impotent?Copy !req
680. I hoped he'd work through it
with that shrink,Copy !req
681. but she only made him worse.Copy !req
682. How so?Copy !req
683. Robert told me
to stay away from himCopy !req
684. because I was dirty.Copy !req
685. Where'd that
come from?Copy !req
686. I don't know,
but it wasn't just me.Copy !req
687. He cut off everyone.
I'm late.Copy !req
688. What about family?Copy !req
689. Maybe his sister, Christina.Copy !req
690. They were really close.Copy !req
691. We've always been
so proud of him.Copy !req
692. He's a genius,
you know?Copy !req
693. He was going to be
the first person
in the familyCopy !req
694. to really make
something of himself.Copy !req
695. That's an awful
lot of pressure.
Maybe it got to him.Copy !req
696. I'll tell you what got
to him, that quack.
Dr. Heints?Copy !req
697. Since he started
seeing her,Copy !req
698. he hasn't had
a thought of his own.Copy !req
699. You.
( groans )Copy !req
700. You, you better
come with me.Copy !req
701. Everything's always,
"Greta said this.Copy !req
702. Dr. H. said that."
( groans )Copy !req
703. Robert's obsessed
with her.Copy !req
704. Because she brainwashed him.Copy !req
705. Thanks to her,
he's a nonfunctioning mess.Copy !req
706. It got so serious,
I filed a complaintCopy !req
707. with the State Medical Board.Copy !req
708. Excuse me!
Excuse me, Dorothy.Copy !req
709. Yeah?Copy !req
710. Dorothy, take care of him.
Okay.Copy !req
711. And what did they say?Copy !req
712. They contacted Robert,Copy !req
713. who said she was helping
him, so they dropped it.Copy !req
714. Then he tried to kill himself
over her.Copy !req
715. Over what he did
to her.Copy !req
716. What did he do to her?Copy !req
717. Your brother attacked
Dr. Heints.Copy !req
718. He put her
in a hospital.Copy !req
719. Robert's never been violent
his whole life.Copy !req
720. When was she attacked?
Sunday night.Copy !req
721. Then it couldn't have been him.Copy !req
722. Let me guess...Copy !req
723. He was with you that night.Copy !req
724. No, earlier, that morning.Copy !req
725. He was rambling
like a three-year-old.Copy !req
726. He didn't even know who I was.Copy !req
727. So I took him to St. John'sCopy !req
728. where they admitted him
for 24-hour observation.Copy !req
729. Robert Logan was admitted
at 2:15 Sunday afternoon.Copy !req
730. Take a look
at his file?Copy !req
731. Sorry, it's...Copy !req
732. Confidential,
we know.Copy !req
733. Hey, Nurse Lynch.Copy !req
734. Uh, no pun intended,Copy !req
735. but this place
is kind of a madhouse.Copy !req
736. Is there any chance that Logan
could've slipped out of here?Copy !req
737. Absolutely not.Copy !req
738. When someone's checked in
for observation,Copy !req
739. we do observe them,
quite regularly.Copy !req
740. So he was hereCopy !req
741. the whole 24 hours?Copy !req
742. No...Copy !req
743. five.Copy !req
744. Wait a minute.Copy !req
745. You just said he
couldn't get out.Copy !req
746. I said
he couldn't sneak out.Copy !req
747. Robert checked in voluntarily
so he was free to leave.Copy !req
748. AMA, mind you.Copy !req
749. Against medical advice.Copy !req
750. Right, so you knew
he was dangerous.Copy !req
751. His behavior was erraticCopy !req
752. when he came in,
but he settled down.Copy !req
753. He wasn't suicidal or homicidal,Copy !req
754. so we couldn't stop him
from going.Copy !req
755. BENSON
You got a real
crack team here.Copy !req
756. After he left, your
patient tried to killCopy !req
757. his own psychiatrist
and then himself.Copy !req
758. Dr. Heints?Copy !req
759. You know her?Copy !req
760. First couple hours Robert
was here he kept asking for her,Copy !req
761. but we couldn't reach her.Copy !req
762. And how did he
respond to that?Copy !req
763. Not well.
But when he settled down,Copy !req
764. he remembered
they had a session coming up.Copy !req
765. He said he'd be fine
as soon as he talked to her.Copy !req
766. Got a pretty solid motive:
she rejects him, he falls apart,Copy !req
767. begs to see her,
she doesn't come.Copy !req
768. Just hours before the attack,Copy !req
769. he tells witnesses
he's going to find her.Copy !req
770. You know,
he may be crazy,Copy !req
771. but he definitely knew
what he was doingCopy !req
772. when he lured her there.Copy !req
773. Who cares?Copy !req
774. Who the hell are you?Copy !req
775. Bettina Amador.Copy !req
776. You must be Benson and Stabler.Copy !req
777. The Civil Actions ADACopy !req
778. Alex so highly
recommended.Copy !req
779. Ms. Amador here
was informing meCopy !req
780. Mr. Logan won't
be going to trial.Copy !req
781. Why?Copy !req
782. I just got the results
of his 730 exam.Copy !req
783. Powers-that-be
say he's not fit to proceed.Copy !req
784. Well, they're wrong.
Look, we just busted our humpCopy !req
785. getting this guy's
state of mind.Copy !req
786. It was premeditated.Copy !req
787. It's not relevant.Copy !req
788. Doesn't matter how sane he was
at the time of the attack,Copy !req
789. they're saying
he's looney tunes now.Copy !req
790. Which means he can't help
with his own defense.Copy !req
791. Well, I think that he's doing
a damn fine job.Copy !req
792. He's faking it.Copy !req
793. Okay. It's a long shot,Copy !req
794. but I can challenge
the findings.Copy !req
795. Might want to spruce up
a little bit for court.Copy !req
796. I examined Mr. LoganCopy !req
797. and found him to be delusional
and highly agitated.Copy !req
798. His sense of reality is so poor,Copy !req
799. he doesn't understand
the charges against him.Copy !req
800. Agitated?Copy !req
801. He looks pretty calm
and collected to me, Dr. Baca.Copy !req
802. He's heavily medicated.Copy !req
803. Oh, he's high.Copy !req
804. Well, maybe that accounts
for his inabilityCopy !req
805. to help in his own defense.Copy !req
806. Objection.Copy !req
807. Mr. Logan is so
entrenched in fantasy,Copy !req
808. he believes
his relationshipCopy !req
809. with Dr. Heints was consensual.Copy !req
810. Does Robert understand
assault is a crime?Copy !req
811. Yes.Copy !req
812. And does he
also understandCopy !req
813. he's being charged
with attempted rape?Copy !req
814. Yes, and he's deeply
upset about it.Copy !req
815. Upset?Copy !req
816. Doesn't that indicate remorse?Copy !req
817. Well, that's where
it gets complicated.Copy !req
818. Robert is devastated
that Dr. Heints was injured,Copy !req
819. but he maintains
that she controlledCopy !req
820. every sexual aspect
of the relationship.Copy !req
821. The victim was asking for it?Copy !req
822. Isn't that what they all say?Copy !req
823. Objection.
Withdrawn.Copy !req
824. Nothing further.Copy !req
825. Robert is extremely ill.Copy !req
826. I'm afraid the attack
came out of our intense therapy,Copy !req
827. which triggered
his emotional ability.Copy !req
828. Actually, his competency
at the time of the attackCopy !req
829. is not at issue here.Copy !req
830. But his premorbid
condition is.Copy !req
831. He suffers from well-documented
psychogenic fugue states.Copy !req
832. He was in one
when the incident occurred.Copy !req
833. Have you ever requested—
of anyone—Copy !req
834. to be hit over the head
with a blunt object,Copy !req
835. rendering you unconscious?
No.Copy !req
836. Are you in love
with Robert Logan?Copy !req
837. No.Copy !req
838. What? Why would she say that?Copy !req
839. AMADOR
Have you ever engagedCopy !req
840. in sexual intercourse
with him?Copy !req
841. No, of course not.Copy !req
842. What? Why are you lying?Copy !req
843. Just tell them the truth.Copy !req
844. Tell them you love me.Copy !req
845. Counselor.Copy !req
846. Robert, calm down.Copy !req
847. Is it safe to sayCopy !req
848. your patient was, and is,
sexually obsessed with you?Copy !req
849. Not with me.Copy !req
850. Then who?Copy !req
851. You're the one
he attacked.Copy !req
852. The fantasized relationshipCopy !req
853. is projection
based on transference.Copy !req
854. In layman's terms?Copy !req
855. He has confused the painCopy !req
856. of his severe
childhood abuseCopy !req
857. with the intimacy of
our corrective therapy.Copy !req
858. In his mind the two have melded,Copy !req
859. and he is desperate to believe
that we are in love.Copy !req
860. Oh, come on. We are!Copy !req
861. Why are you denying it?
Just tell them that...Copy !req
862. tell them you love me.
Why won't you do that?Copy !req
863. Just tell them you love me.
Counselor, control
your client.Copy !req
864. Come on.
Just tell them you love me.
( gavel pounding )Copy !req
865. Robert, please.
Robert, let her go.Copy !req
866. Please, calm down.
( gavel pounding )Copy !req
867. I am not who you think I am.Copy !req
868. Robert, I'm
your doctor.Copy !req
869. Please, just tell them.Copy !req
870. Just tell them you love me.Copy !req
871. Please restrain
this man!Copy !req
872. Just tell them you love me.Copy !req
873. Just... just tell them
you love me, please.Copy !req
874. Just tell them...
just tell them you love me.Copy !req
875. Just t-tell them.
Tell them. Tell them.Copy !req
876. You missed quite a circus.Copy !req
877. Robert had a complete
meltdown in court.Copy !req
878. For show or for real?Copy !req
879. It doesn't matter.Copy !req
880. Judge deemed him
unfit to proceed.Copy !req
881. I'll tell you why.Copy !req
882. Because of what that woman
did to him.Copy !req
883. I want her arrested
for malpractice.Copy !req
884. Christina Logan,
this is Robert's sister.Copy !req
885. This is our captain,
Donald Cragen.Copy !req
886. I'm sorry, Miss Logan.Copy !req
887. This is a matter
for civil court, not criminal.Copy !req
888. Just listen.Copy !req
889. This is what your illustrious
Dr. Heints considers therapy.Copy !req
890. You know what my favorite time
of the day is, Robert?Copy !req
891. When you come out
of the bathtub.Copy !req
892. You're naked and clean
and you smell so good.Copy !req
893. I hold you close.Copy !req
894. You find my breast with your
lips, and you start to suckle.Copy !req
895. ( turns off tape )
I can't listen anymore.Copy !req
896. It makes me sick.Copy !req
897. Where did you get this?Copy !req
898. I needed answers so
I searched Robert's apartment.Copy !req
899. You still think
she's the victim?Copy !req
900. You were screwing
your patient.Copy !req
901. I absolutely was not.Copy !req
902. Think about meCopy !req
903. lying next to you in bed.Copy !req
904. I wrap my arms around you
and smother you with kisses.Copy !req
905. Insurance cover
a session like that?Copy !req
906. It is not what it sounds like.Copy !req
907. This is all part
of Robert's therapy.Copy !req
908. Sex therapy?Copy !req
909. I'm a professional.
This is my life's work.Copy !req
910. I would never be inappropriate
to a patient.Copy !req
911. I was reparenting him.Copy !req
912. Lady, I've got four kids.Copy !req
913. If I ever talked to one of them
like that, I'd arrest myself.Copy !req
914. I had to regress RobertCopy !req
915. to the point
where he was traumatizedCopy !req
916. and give him the love
and affectionCopy !req
917. he desperately needed,
but never got.Copy !req
918. And that just had
to involve breasts, huh?Copy !req
919. Yes.Copy !req
920. A baby bonds with his motherCopy !req
921. during breast-feeding.Copy !req
922. So you simulated
breast-feeding?Copy !req
923. No, not physically.Copy !req
924. I talked him through it.Copy !req
925. Like phone sex.Copy !req
926. There was never
any physical contact.Copy !req
927. I'd say the doctor has some
unresolved issues of her own.Copy !req
928. Maybe it's
countertransference.Copy !req
929. That's when
the therapistCopy !req
930. develops feelings
for the patient.Copy !req
931. It's not uncommon.Copy !req
932. Well, and when the therapist
has sex with a patient,Copy !req
933. that's Rape Three.Copy !req
934. And don't forget,
he assaulted her.Copy !req
935. She's the victim.Copy !req
936. Well, they're
both victims.Copy !req
937. And perps.Copy !req
938. We know Robert attacked her.Copy !req
939. The judge ruled him unfit,
so we can't touch him.Copy !req
940. The question is:
Did she have sex with him?Copy !req
941. I ran Robert's picture
past the junkiesCopy !req
942. busted at the shooting gallery
that night.Copy !req
943. No one puts him there.Copy !req
944. What you got?Copy !req
945. You talk to the lookout?Copy !req
946. Mr. Bad-Ass is
in the wind.Copy !req
947. We're tracking him down.Copy !req
948. He's the guy we need.Copy !req
949. Everyone had to get past him.Copy !req
950. One of my informants just did.Copy !req
951. We're on it.Copy !req
952. You drive.Copy !req
953. Business never skips a beat.Copy !req
954. I'm out.Copy !req
955. Hey, man, I got
no business here, man.Copy !req
956. Then you're
loitering.Copy !req
957. Let's go. You're going
to come with us.Copy !req
958. Now, what do you want?Copy !req
959. This guy ever
cross your path?Copy !req
960. Yeah, I seen him before.Copy !req
961. Night of the bust?Copy !req
962. No, couple weeks
before that.Copy !req
963. Doing what?Copy !req
964. Passing out needles.Copy !req
965. Showed up with one
of those do-gooders.Copy !req
966. What's his name?Copy !req
967. Her. Pain-in-the-ass woman
come around all the time,Copy !req
968. passing out flyers
for her clinic.Copy !req
969. Pushing methadone?Copy !req
970. Yeah. She gets a few,Copy !req
971. but they always
come home to Papi.Copy !req
972. Robert's sister, Christina,
works at a clinic.Copy !req
973. Christina,
that's the bitch's name.Copy !req
974. Was she there
that night?Copy !req
975. Yeah, it was kind of weird.Copy !req
976. She don't usually
come around after dark.Copy !req
977. It all makes sense now.Copy !req
978. You hated Dr. Heints.Copy !req
979. You tried to get
her fired.Copy !req
980. You tried to get
her license taken away.Copy !req
981. And when no one
would do anything,Copy !req
982. you decided to take it
into your own hands, huh?Copy !req
983. Who knows how many lives
she's screwed up.Copy !req
984. I doubt I'm her only enemy.Copy !req
985. You're the only one a witness
puts there that night.Copy !req
986. I'm there all the time
trying to help people.Copy !req
987. He mixed up the nights.Copy !req
988. He also plant your prints
on duct tape?Copy !req
989. The strip you usedCopy !req
990. to bind her.Copy !req
991. Hmm?Copy !req
992. Come on, Christina.Copy !req
993. Tell us what happened.Copy !req
994. After I checked Robert
into the hospital,Copy !req
995. I went back to his apartment
and I found that... cassette.Copy !req
996. I went crazy when I heard it.Copy !req
997. I didn't know what to do.Copy !req
998. The things she was
doing to him—Copy !req
999. they were humiliating.Copy !req
1000. I phoned her and told her
that I was a friend of Robert's,Copy !req
1001. that he was in trouble
and to please come quick.Copy !req
1002. Why the crack house?Copy !req
1003. It was the lowest
place I know.Copy !req
1004. I wanted her to fall
as far as Robert had.Copy !req
1005. You sexually
assaulted her.Copy !req
1006. No.Copy !req
1007. Christina, there was trauma
to her genitals.Copy !req
1008. That's because I kicked her
as hard as I couldCopy !req
1009. between her whoring legs.Copy !req
1010. No matter what she did
to your brother, this wasCopy !req
1011. a pretty, um, extreme thing
to do, don't you think?Copy !req
1012. I am all he has.Copy !req
1013. I've been looking out for
him since he was seven,Copy !req
1014. when Mother died of cancer.Copy !req
1015. So, you were just
being a good sister.Copy !req
1016. And if I have to go
to jail for that, fine...Copy !req
1017. but she has to pay, too.Copy !req
1018. Christina insists on pressing
charges against Dr. Heints.Copy !req
1019. That's a tough week
for the doc.Copy !req
1020. Brutally attacked,
life's work discredited.Copy !req
1021. Now she's facing jail time.Copy !req
1022. If she Freudian-slipped it
to him,Copy !req
1023. she could end up serving
longer than her attacker.Copy !req
1024. It's Christina's
first offense.Copy !req
1025. She's looking
at a year, tops.Copy !req
1026. Dr. H. could do up to four.Copy !req
1027. Yeah, well,
Robert could beCopy !req
1028. screwed up for life.Copy !req
1029. He's turning out to be
the only pure victimCopy !req
1030. in this whole thing.Copy !req
1031. That's messed up.Copy !req
1032. Well, so is this.
Christina just told usCopy !req
1033. her mother died
of cancer, right?Copy !req
1034. Yeah.Copy !req
1035. I just Googled
the Logan family.Copy !req
1036. Newspaper article
says that Victoria LoganCopy !req
1037. died in a house fire in 1987.Copy !req
1038. You sure you got
the right woman?Copy !req
1039. "Her son, Robert, age seven,Copy !req
1040. "was found wandering the streetsCopy !req
1041. with no memory
of what happened."Copy !req
1042. Sounds like one of his
psychogenic fugue states.Copy !req
1043. Losing your mother in a fire?Copy !req
1044. That's probably
what started them.Copy !req
1045. The fire was suspicious.Copy !req
1046. Accelerant used
was lighter fluid.Copy !req
1047. We thinking Robert set the fire?Copy !req
1048. What fire?Copy !req
1049. The one that killed
Robert's mother.Copy !req
1050. What are you talking about?Copy !req
1051. Their house burned down
when he was seven years old.Copy !req
1052. It's a matter
of public record.Copy !req
1053. You two never talked
about this?Copy !req
1054. We spent a year on his motherCopy !req
1055. and we never got
anywhere near this.Copy !req
1056. Are you telling me he witnessed
the death of his mother?Copy !req
1057. We believe that he
may have caused it.Copy !req
1058. My God.Copy !req
1059. If I'd known this, I would have
never taken him down that path.Copy !req
1060. This completely
explains the attack.Copy !req
1061. He-/////!s not the one
who attacked you.Copy !req
1062. What?Copy !req
1063. It was his sisterCopy !req
1064. Christina.Copy !req
1065. Why?Copy !req
1066. She felt you were responsible
for Robert's condition.Copy !req
1067. Not for the reasons
that she thinks.Copy !req
1068. I never touched him,
but I did push him too far.Copy !req
1069. Listen to me.Copy !req
1070. It's imperative someone
see him immediately,Copy !req
1071. to talk him through this.Copy !req
1072. You know that we can't
allow you to do that.Copy !req
1073. No, of course not,
I'm the worst personCopy !req
1074. at this point.Copy !req
1075. What about the psychiatrist
you had see him?Copy !req
1076. Dr. Huang.Copy !req
1077. Did Robert respond
to him at all?Copy !req
1078. He talked— pretty
freely, actually.Copy !req
1079. He's got to talk
to him again.Copy !req
1080. Well, you got to give us
something that he can go on.Copy !req
1081. Robert's mother was
a religious fanatic.Copy !req
1082. She'd pull him out of bed
in the middle of the nightCopy !req
1083. and make him pray for his sins.Copy !req
1084. You're seven years old.Copy !req
1085. What sins does she
think you committed?Copy !req
1086. I was born a boy and...
boys are dirty.Copy !req
1087. Is that why she washes you?Copy !req
1088. All the time.Copy !req
1089. Does it hurt
when she washes you?Copy !req
1090. Yes.Copy !req
1091. She... She...Copy !req
1092. She hits me down there.Copy !req
1093. Your genitals.Copy !req
1094. Yeah.Copy !req
1095. She ties a string
around it, tight.Copy !req
1096. Why?Copy !req
1097. So it'll die and fall off.Copy !req
1098. Why would she want
to castrate you?Copy !req
1099. Sex is evil.Copy !req
1100. That's what makes men bad.Copy !req
1101. Robert, when
your mom died...Copy !req
1102. how did it make you feel?Copy !req
1103. I don't want to talk about it,
okay?Copy !req
1104. I know it hurts.Copy !req
1105. You've kept it in too long.Copy !req
1106. Robert, you've got
to let it out.Copy !req
1107. I can't.Copy !req
1108. I'm right here.
Just take me through it.Copy !req
1109. I'm not allowed.Copy !req
1110. Who won't allow you?Copy !req
1111. I don't want to talk
about it, okay? I can't.Copy !req
1112. I can't! I can't!Copy !req
1113. I don't...Copy !req
1114. Don't do this to me!Copy !req
1115. I don't want
to talk about it!Copy !req
1116. Robert!Copy !req
1117. You don't have to keep
punishing yourself.Copy !req
1118. We can take away the pain,Copy !req
1119. but we have to talk
about the fire.Copy !req
1120. No, please... Please.Copy !req
1121. Your mother is
in the house.Copy !req
1122. Where are you?Copy !req
1123. Where are you, Robert?Copy !req
1124. Outside.Copy !req
1125. Tell me
what's going on.Copy !req
1126. I can hear her screaming.Copy !req
1127. She can't get out.Copy !req
1128. But you did get out—Copy !req
1129. after you
set the fire.Copy !req
1130. No, I didn't set the fire.Copy !req
1131. Who did?Copy !req
1132. She did.
Who's she?Copy !req
1133. I can't tell.Copy !req
1134. Why can't you tell?Copy !req
1135. Because I promised.Copy !req
1136. Who did you promise?Copy !req
1137. Christina.Copy !req
1138. It's okay, Robert.
You had to tell.Copy !req
1139. Christina will understand.Copy !req
1140. No, she won't.Copy !req
1141. Why not?Copy !req
1142. She did something bad
when she was littleCopy !req
1143. and my mother
sent her away.Copy !req
1144. She wasn't allowed
to be there.Copy !req
1145. But she came back that night.Copy !req
1146. To save me.Copy !req
1147. You killed your mother.Copy !req
1148. My mother threw me out
when I was 14.Copy !req
1149. I never saw her again.Copy !req
1150. Why'd she kick you out?Copy !req
1151. She didn't approve of
the boy I was seeing.Copy !req
1152. We heard she didn't approve
of any boys at all.Copy !req
1153. What was that about?Copy !req
1154. One got me pregnant.Copy !req
1155. Mother nearly beat me to death,Copy !req
1156. and left me with relatives
in Minnesota.Copy !req
1157. Told me never to come back.Copy !req
1158. But you did come back.Copy !req
1159. You were there
the night of the fire.Copy !req
1160. You're mistaken.Copy !req
1161. I came back after I read
about it in the paper.Copy !req
1162. No one here even knew I existed.Copy !req
1163. She told everyone
Robert was her only child.Copy !req
1164. And we all know
what she did to him.Copy !req
1165. Christina, we understand
why you killed her.Copy !req
1166. We know the horrible things
she did to your brother.Copy !req
1167. She wasn't abusing
my brother.Copy !req
1168. She was abusing my son.Copy !req
1169. She tore him out of my arms
the day he was born.Copy !req
1170. He was punished for seven years
for my sins.Copy !req
1171. When you came back for him,
you saw what she had done.Copy !req
1172. You had to protect him.Copy !req
1173. Wouldn't you do the same thing
for your son?Copy !req
