Shannon always told me
where she was goingCopy !req
78. and who she was with,
so when I hadn't heardCopy !req
79. from her by 9:00, I knew
something was wrong.Copy !req
80. I don't know how I'm

81. Is your husband on

87. Mrs. Coyle, how was
Shannon doing in school?Copy !req
88. She was a straight-A student.Copy !req
89. I mean, I think
she cut an occasional class,Copy !req
90. but she was never any trouble.Copy !req
91. Hey, Brian, was
there anyoneCopy !req
92. she didn't like?Copy !req
93. Uh, someone giving herCopy !req
94. a hard time?Copy !req
95. If there was,
she would have told me.Copy !req
96. Mrs. Coyle, there's evidenceCopy !req
97. that your daughter had sex
before she died.Copy !req
98. She was raped?Copy !req
99. Well, we don't
know that for sure,Copy !req
100. but we have to consider
all possibilities.Copy !req
101. Can you think of anyoneCopy !req
102. that she may have been
involved with?Copy !req
103. If my daughter was having sex,
she would have told me.Copy !req
104. And when isCopy !req
105. the last time
you heard from her?Copy !req
106. 2:30 yesterday
afternoon.Copy !req
107. She called me
from her cell phoneCopy !req
108. and said she was going
to be late.Copy !req
109. Her choir teacher called
an extra rehearsal.Copy !req
110. This is Shannon.Copy !req
111. See you later,
Shannon.Copy !req
112. Lisa Faber, you just

117. Hi, Mom.Copy !req
118. Reminds meCopy !req
119. of Elizabeth's friends,

120. What do you think?Copy !req
121. Confident,Copy !req

to chat rooms,Copy !req
128. no suspicious e-mails.Copy !req
129. Maybe it was
a random attack.Copy !req
130. I doubt it.Copy !req
131. Checked the inventory
of Shannon's backpack.Copy !req
132. No cell phone.Copy !req
133. Perp must've taken it.Copy !req
134. He probably thought his number
was stored in the memory.Copy !req
135. Which points to
someone she knew.Copy !req
136. Warner says that
Shannon had sex,Copy !req
137. but the mother and brother
say she wasn't seeing anyone,Copy !req
138. which means Mom doesn't knowCopy !req
139. that Shannon
was sexually active.Copy !req
140. Maybe her friends do.Copy !req
141. The school is giving us
the cafeteria for interviews.Copy !req
142. John, Fin,
see if they canCopy !req
143. help us reconstruct
her day.Copy !req
144. Shannon
was last seenCopy !req
145. at choir practice.Copy !req
146. You two start
with the music teacher.Copy !req
147. Shannon was
the best of the best.Copy !req
148. Two years,
never missed a rehearsal.Copy !req
149. Beautiful voice,
unlimited potential.Copy !req
150. I feel like
I lost my own child.Copy !req
151. Do you always rehearse
after school,Copy !req
152. Mr. Abruzzo?Copy !req
153. Please, call me Steve.Copy !req
154. Um, no, not usually,Copy !req
155. but the state competition
is just a few weeks awayCopy !req
156. and we need
extra practice.Copy !req
157. Steve, how late did you
keep the kids yesterday?Copy !req
158. Till 5:00.Copy !req
159. I didn't want their
parents to complainCopy !req
160. that they missed dinner.Copy !req
161. You have any idea if
Shannon was headed home?Copy !req
162. I wish I knew.Copy !req
163. Would she know?Copy !req
164. That's, um, Lisa Faber.
She might.Copy !req
165. She and Shannon
were joined at the hip.Copy !req
166. We, uh, we went
for a cup of coffee,Copy !req
167. around the corner
after rehearsal.Copy !req
168. ( crying ):
I'm sorry.Copy !req
169. It's okay, Lisa.Copy !req
170. What time
did you leave?Copy !req
171. Um, like, 6:00,
I think.Copy !req
172. And did Shannon say
where she was going?Copy !req
173. No,Copy !req
174. but I figured home.Copy !req
175. Did you see her before choir?Copy !req
176. Yeah, I mean, Shannon and I have
two classes together:Copy !req
177. American history
and trig.Copy !req
178. Seventh
and eighth periods.Copy !req
179. And before that?Copy !req
180. We had lunch.
Here?Copy !req
181. Food here sucks.Copy !req
182. We grabbed a couple of slices
at Ray's, up the street.Copy !req
183. You walk over together?Copy !req
184. No, we met there.Copy !req
185. She make itCopy !req
186. to her morning classes?Copy !req
187. Probably, she
was in homeroom.Copy !req
188. You talk to her?Copy !req
189. Every day for
the past three years.Copy !req
190. My last name's Connor,
hers is Coyle.Copy !req
191. She sat behind me.Copy !req
192. You know if she was
dating anyone?Copy !req
193. She wouldn't talk
to me about that.Copy !req
194. Lisa would know.Copy !req
195. Shannon wasn't
going out with anyone.Copy !req
196. Not that she wasn't asked.
Constantly.Copy !req
197. How do you and Shannon
usually get home?Copy !req
198. I walk; she takes the subway.Copy !req
199. But it was freezing last night,
so she hopped a cab.Copy !req
200. Cab companies I talked toCopy !req
201. can't find a fare logged from
the coffee shop to Park Slope.Copy !req
202. Still looking.Copy !req
203. Nobody we've interviewedCopy !req
204. saw Shannon
after 6:00 in the evening.Copy !req
205. She didn't die
until ten.Copy !req
206. That's a lot of hours
unaccounted for.Copy !req
207. Looking
for you guys.Copy !req
208. Just ran every male employee
at William Theodore Prep.Copy !req
209. All clean.Copy !req
210. Only bump was the choir teacher,
Steven Abruzzo.Copy !req
211. What'd
you find out?Copy !req
212. He's new on the job.Copy !req
213. Just finished a six-year gigCopy !req
214. up in Riverdale
at Garfield High.Copy !req
215. What happened?Copy !req
216. I don't know.Copy !req
217. All anyone's saying
is he suddenly quitCopy !req
218. at the end
of the last school year.Copy !req
219. Go ask Mr. Music why.Copy !req
220. Okay, let's, um,
let's take a break.Copy !req
221. Wow, they
sound great.Copy !req
222. Yeah, I was going
to cancel practice,Copy !req
223. but the kids said ShannonCopy !req
224. would have
wanted them to sing.Copy !req
225. I think they need an outlet
for their emotions.Copy !req
226. Sounds like
you do, too.Copy !req
227. We know what happened
at your last school.Copy !req
228. Why bring that up?Copy !req
229. Well, let's see.Copy !req
230. One of your students
is dead,Copy !req
231. and apparently you
like younger women.Copy !req
232. A lot younger.Copy !req
233. That complaint cost me
tenure and a pay raise.Copy !req
234. That's a pretty high price
to pay if you're innocent.Copy !req
235. Damn right.Copy !req
236. It was a load of crap.Copy !req
237. Really?Copy !req
238. Because that girl said
that you invited herCopy !req
239. over to your place for
a "private" voice lesson.Copy !req
240. She's a liar, all right?
( cell phone ringing )Copy !req
241. Constantly cut class,
I gave her a "D."Copy !req
242. This is what I get
for trying to do my job?Copy !req
243. Benson.Copy !req
244. Look, Detective,
teaching is my life, okay?Copy !req
245. I would never do anything
to hurt these kids.Copy !req
246. Elliot.Copy !req
247. I hope not.Copy !req
248. The lab found something
in Shannon's purse.Copy !req
249. So what do you got?Copy !req
250. Heart-shaped key chain.Copy !req
251. With a Super Lock key.Copy !req
252. Cost ten bucks
to replace.Copy !req
253. It matched the locks
in Shannon's place?Copy !req
254. No, but I'm betting
this key to her heart,Copy !req
255. opens wherever she got these.Copy !req
256. They were tucked in
with the key chain.Copy !req
257. Condoms.Copy !req
258. So no boyfriend, but she's
ready to have safe sex.Copy !req
259. Maybe with the guy's
prints on the wrapper—Copy !req
260. right forefinger,
beautiful ten-point match.Copy !req
261. In the system?
No rap sheet.Copy !req
262. Pre-employment prints
from the Board of Ed.Copy !req
263. Some teacher...Copy !req
264. Steven Abruzzo.
How'd you know?Copy !req
265. I'm a good judge
of character.Copy !req
266. What do you know,
a Super Lock.Copy !req
267. Let's test our evidence.Copy !req
268. A school backpack.Copy !req
269. What's that sound
like to you?Copy !req
270. Statutory rape.Copy !req
271. Sorry to interrupt.Copy !req
272. Get up, now.Copy !req
273. You can't just break in here.Copy !req
274. We didn't.Copy !req
275. We heard a girl in trouble.Copy !req
276. Same brand as Shannon.Copy !req
277. Hey, get up.Copy !req
278. Get dressed.Copy !req
279. Lisa.Copy !req
280. You're crazy if you
think I killed Shannon.Copy !req
281. You're screwing
one student;Copy !req
282. you were screwing
Shannon, too.Copy !req
283. You working your way through
the 11th grade there, Steve?Copy !req
284. I never slept with her.Copy !req
285. I believe him, don't you?Copy !req
286. He's probably
passing out condomsCopy !req
287. to his female studentsCopy !req
288. so they'll practice
safe sex.Copy !req
289. Or maybe Shannon
finds outCopy !req
290. you're doing her best friend.Copy !req
291. She tells anybody
your career's history.Copy !req
292. So I murder her?
Are you insane?Copy !req
293. Your career is over
anyway, choir boy.Copy !req
294. Lisa's 16.
She's jailbait.Copy !req
295. Steve didn't force me to do
anything I didn't want him to.Copy !req
296. We're in love.Copy !req
297. The law says you
can't consent to sex.Copy !req
298. Then I'm not pressing charges.Copy !req
299. We'll do that.Copy !req
300. But right now Steve's
looking pretty good for murder.Copy !req
301. My parents are on vacation.Copy !req
302. I spent the night
at Steve's place.Copy !req
303. He didn't go near Shannon.Copy !req
304. No?Copy !req
305. She got these condoms from a box
inside Steve's apartment.Copy !req
306. They match the spermicide
that we found in Shannon.Copy !req
307. How do you explain that?Copy !req
308. I gave Shannon the key
to Steve's apartment.Copy !req
309. So she could see her boyfriend.Copy !req
310. Their parents said
they couldn't go out,Copy !req
311. so they had
to sneak around.Copy !req
312. They sneak around last night?Copy !req
313. Steve had a meeting.Copy !req
314. So we hung out
at his apartment.Copy !req
315. They went in the bedroom
for like an hour,Copy !req
316. then they left.Copy !req
317. Together?Copy !req
318. In the same taxi.Copy !req
319. Boyfriend's name?Copy !req
320. Aidan.Copy !req
321. How'd you get past the doorman?Copy !req
322. Detective Benson.
This is Detective Stabler.Copy !req
323. Is Aidan home?Copy !req
324. I'm his mother.
What's this about?Copy !req
325. One of his classmates
was murdered.Copy !req
326. I heard. It's awful.Copy !req
327. Aidan, come to the door.Copy !req
328. What's up, Mom?Copy !req
329. This is ludicrous.Copy !req
330. Our son's not a murderer.Copy !req
331. You lied to me.Copy !req
332. I had to.Copy !req
333. They didn't know Shannon
and I were going out.Copy !req
334. Shannon was
your girlfriend?Copy !req
335. Even after I told you
to stay away from her?Copy !req
336. Debra, now is not the time.Copy !req
337. There was nothing wrong
with her like you think.Copy !req
338. I didn't kill Shannon.Copy !req
339. I loved her.Copy !req
340. Aidan, we know
that you two had sexCopy !req
341. the night she was murdered.Copy !req
342. What in God's name
did you do?Copy !req
343. Debra, please, please.Copy !req
344. Where did you go after you left
Mr. Abruzzo's apartment?Copy !req
345. We got into a cab.Copy !req
346. Shannon was going to Brooklyn,
so we dropped me off first.Copy !req
347. What time?Copy !req
348. Around 8:30.Copy !req
349. The taxi let me off
down the blockCopy !req
350. from our building so my folks
wouldn't see us.Copy !req
351. But Dad was already there,
getting out of another cab.Copy !req
352. It's true.
I still have the receipt.Copy !req
353. Where were you after that,
Aidan?Copy !req
354. Home. All night.Copy !req
355. Ask our doorman.Copy !req
356. We're going to need a
DNA sample from your son.Copy !req
357. I think we should call a lawyer.Copy !req
358. Detectives.Copy !req
359. Excuse us.Copy !req
360. Fin located Shannon's cabbie,
who said Shannon took a callCopy !req
361. right after
they dropped off Aidan.Copy !req
362. Then she told the cabbie
to take her to the school.Copy !req
363. TARU is dumping
her cell phone.Copy !req
364. This can't be good news.Copy !req
365. Shannon Coyle was
eight weeks pregnant.Copy !req
366. With a girl.Copy !req
367. Aidan's got to be the father.Copy !req
368. He can't be.Copy !req
369. How do you know that?Copy !req
370. We haven't taken his DNA.Copy !req
371. Don't need it.Copy !req
372. All of us get half our DNA
from our motherCopy !req
373. and half from our father.Copy !req
374. The fetus has 62%Copy !req
375. of the same genes
as Shannon.Copy !req
376. So she and the baby-/////!s
father are related.Copy !req
377. So we're talking about incest.Copy !req
378. With who?Copy !req
379. Most likely her brother,Copy !req
380. but possibly her father,
an uncle or first cousin.Copy !req
381. Well, the pregnancy is enough
motive for any one of themCopy !req
382. to want to shut Shannon up.Copy !req
383. Aidan still could
have killed her.Copy !req
384. Until we can prove it, there's
nothing to hold him on.Copy !req
385. You better tell
Shannon's mother.Copy !req
386. Pregnant?Copy !req
387. That can't be true.Copy !req
388. Mrs. Coyle,
we understandCopy !req
389. how difficult this is.Copy !req
390. But the DNA proves that
the baby's fatherCopy !req
391. was related
to Shannon.Copy !req
392. What do you mean?Copy !req
393. Do you remember
ShannonCopy !req
394. spending any time
with uncles or cousins
about two months ago?Copy !req
395. No, she doesn't have any uncles
or cousins.Copy !req
396. My husband Barry is
an only child.Copy !req
397. He's been out of the country
for 11 weeks.Copy !req
398. Oh, God...Copy !req
399. No...Copy !req
400. Brian...Copy !req
401. Brian!Copy !req
402. Did you get Shannon pregnant?Copy !req
403. Tell me what you did.Copy !req
404. You tell me!Copy !req
405. I didn't do anything!Copy !req
406. Did you get
her pregnant?Copy !req
407. Tell me if you
got her pregnant!Copy !req
408. Mrs. Coyle.Copy !req
409. Mrs. Coyle,
calm down.Copy !req
410. Come down the stairs.Copy !req
411. Mom, I never
touched her.Copy !req
412. Shut up!Copy !req
413. You shut up!Copy !req
414. Brian, you're going
to have to come with us.Copy !req
415. Mrs. Coyle, we need
your permissionCopy !req
416. to test your son's DNA.Copy !req
417. Do whatever you want with him.Copy !req
418. Come on.Copy !req
419. I was home
the night Shannon died.Copy !req
420. My mom will tell you.Copy !req
421. I'm sure she will.Copy !req
422. I didn't kill
my sister, okay?Copy !req
423. Okay.Copy !req
424. I never slept with her.Copy !req
425. Brian, I know
how tough it is.Copy !req
426. You accidentally
see ShannonCopy !req
427. coming out of the shower,
undressing in her room...Copy !req
428. You're sick.Copy !req
429. Looks good like
all the girls...Copy !req
430. That's disgusting. Stop!Copy !req
431. You couldn't help
yourself.Copy !req
432. Stop! I never touched Shannon!Copy !req
433. How could I be the father
of her baby?Copy !req
434. Okay, what about your dad?Copy !req
435. You sure he's out of town?Copy !req
436. Why would he come back
and not tell us?Copy !req
437. We can't even have Shannon's
funeral until he gets here.Copy !req
438. Barry Coyle's company confirmsCopy !req
439. that he's been
working in Africa.Copy !req
440. So Brian is the only oneCopy !req
441. who could have impregnated
his sister.Copy !req
442. Elliot's got him
at the M.E. for a DNA test.Copy !req
443. No arrest until
we get the results.Copy !req
444. He may have killed Shannon...Copy !req
445. Just because
he slept with her?Copy !req
446. I can't take that
to the Grand Jury.Copy !req
447. Susan Coyle called.Copy !req
448. She said she lost her headCopy !req
449. when she tried to beat
the crap out of Brian.Copy !req
450. I'm not sure I would have
reacted any different.Copy !req
451. Is there any history
of previous abuse?Copy !req
452. Neighbors never
even heardCopy !req
453. them talk loud.Copy !req
454. They say that Susan
keeps to herself.Copy !req
455. She lives for those kids.Copy !req
456. What does Brian say?Copy !req
457. He wants to go home.Copy !req
458. Then cut him loose.Copy !req
459. He's not the only suspect.Copy !req
460. We know where Aidan and BrianCopy !req
461. were the night
of the murder?Copy !req
462. Their parents alibi
for both of them.Copy !req
463. But parents cover
for their kids.Copy !req
464. Let's find out who's lying.Copy !req
465. Start with the Connors.Copy !req
466. And ask them why they didn't
want Romeo and JulietCopy !req
467. to see each other.Copy !req
468. Sweetheart, I expect
a phone callCopy !req
469. when you're through
with study group.Copy !req
470. Bye, Mom.
Bye, Dad.Copy !req
471. We wouldn't lie
to you, Detectives.Copy !req
472. Aidan was here
all night.Copy !req
473. Mrs. Conner, why didn't
you want your son AidanCopy !req
474. to go out
with Shannon?Copy !req
475. Because of her mother.Copy !req
476. Look, I've known Susan since
our kids started kindergarten.Copy !req
477. We used to be friends.Copy !req
478. What happened?Copy !req
479. I kept asking herCopy !req
480. when we were going
to go out together.Copy !req
481. You know, like
civilized couples do.Copy !req
482. She kept making excuses
about her husband being away.Copy !req
483. I finally realized, they thought
they were too good for us.Copy !req
484. You mean we were
too good for them.Copy !req
485. Look, I'm really sorry about
what happened to Shannon,Copy !req
486. but my Aidan
can do much better.Copy !req
487. Jason?Copy !req
488. It's a Maggie Norris.Copy !req
489. What do you think?Copy !req
490. Magnificent. How many more?Copy !req
491. Just the Dior.Copy !req
492. Oh, be a dear and stop
at the vaultCopy !req
493. and pick up my diamonds
tomorrow.Copy !req
494. We're hosting the Manhattan
Hospital Benefit tomorrow night.Copy !req
495. I have to apologize
for my wife.Copy !req
496. She's a bit of snob.Copy !req
497. You don't agree with
her about the Coyles?Copy !req
498. Barry Coyle's donated a lot of
money to William Theodore Prep.Copy !req
499. So you've met him.Copy !req
500. Sure.
Played golf with himCopy !req
501. a few times.Copy !req
502. My wife would kill me
if she found out.Copy !req
503. I'm a developer;
he's an engineer.Copy !req
504. We had plenty to talk about.Copy !req
505. He's a very down-to-earth guy,
really into his kids.Copy !req
506. Did you ever
meet Shannon?Copy !req
507. I've met all of Aidan's friends.Copy !req
508. But you didn't know
that they were dating?Copy !req
509. No, but I know my son.Copy !req
510. Forget killing his girlfriend;
he wouldn't hurt a fly.Copy !req
511. Well, thanks
for everything.Copy !req
512. We'll be in touch.Copy !req
513. TARU got the dump
on Shannon's cell phone.Copy !req
514. Munch and Fin are on it.Copy !req
515. It's just like the mother
told you—Copy !req
516. Shannon called home
from her cell at 2:31Copy !req
517. the afternoon
she was murdered.Copy !req
518. Then Shannon's
at school until 5:00.Copy !req
519. She has coffee with her
friend Lisa until 6:00.Copy !req
520. Back to the teacher's place
for a little loving with Aidan.Copy !req
521. They leave at 8:00, drop Aidan
off on the corner at 8:30.Copy !req
522. Right, then the cab
takes her back
to school at 8:30.Copy !req
523. When was that last call?Copy !req
524. 8:34. Incoming to Shannon's
phone from a blocked number.Copy !req
525. You able to un-block it?Copy !req
526. Traced it to a cell phone.Copy !req
527. Billed to one Jason Connor.Copy !req
528. Aidan called Shannon back.
They go out again.Copy !req
529. Which makes him the last one
to talk to herCopy !req
530. before she was killed.Copy !req
531. Better take this.Copy !req
532. Sector car responded
to a call for shots fired.Copy !req
533. Found him all bloodied up
in the driver's seat,Copy !req
534. What the hell was
he was doing here?Copy !req
535. Working.Copy !req
536. That's his latest construction
project across the street.Copy !req
537. .25-caliber Beretta Jet Fire.
CSU found it under the car.Copy !req
538. Already dusted, no prints.Copy !req
539. Whoever did it wanted to make
sure Jason Conner was dead.Copy !req
540. Emptied the whole clip into him.Copy !req
541. First Shannon is killed,
now her boyfriend's father.Copy !req
542. Why?Copy !req
543. The night of Shannon's murder,Copy !req
544. Jason Connor saw Shannon
and Aidan in a taxi together.Copy !req
545. I think that Aidan ConnorCopy !req
546. murdered Shannon
and then his father.Copy !req
547. How do you figure?Copy !req
548. Aidan finds out
that Shannon's pregnant.Copy !req
549. He knows he used condoms
when they had sex.Copy !req
550. He thinks that Shannon
cheated on him.Copy !req
551. Tragedy is, it was
with her brother.Copy !req
552. But Aidan
didn't know that.Copy !req
553. He kills Shannon,
then he realizesCopy !req
554. the last person to see them
together was his father.Copy !req
555. ( telephone rings )
Murder your fatherCopy !req
556. to cover up killing
your girlfriend?Copy !req
557. That's cold.Copy !req
558. Kid doesn't strike me
as a sociopath.Copy !req
559. Captain,
this kid has lied to usCopy !req
560. every single time
we've talked to him.Copy !req
561. You want us to
bring Aidan in?Copy !req
562. Mother's just gonna
lawyer him up.Copy !req
563. Especially now that Dad's dead.Copy !req
564. Ballistics traced the gun.Copy !req
565. Bought in Pennsylvania in 1985
by Jason Connor.Copy !req
566. That narrows down
our suspect pool.Copy !req
567. Yeah, to Aidan.Copy !req
568. Better not jump to conclusions.Copy !req
569. Gun's registered to Susan Coyle.Copy !req
570. How many times
you gonna knock?Copy !req
571. Let's talk to a neighbor.Copy !req
572. Can I help you?Copy !req
573. Police.Copy !req
574. We're looking for
Susan and Brian Coyle.Copy !req
575. They left early this morning.Copy !req
576. Woke me out of a deep sleep
putting a bunch of suitcasesCopy !req
577. into the trunk
of their car.Copy !req
578. She say where
they were going?Copy !req
579. Greensburgh,
Pennsylvania.Copy !req
580. Wish they were having
it here, though.Copy !req
581. Having what here?Copy !req
582. Shannon's funeral.Copy !req
583. She was a sweet girl.Copy !req
584. Thank you.Copy !req
585. It's pretty hard
to have a funeralCopy !req
586. when the M.E. hasn't released
Shannon's body yet.Copy !req
587. Why would Susan be running
if she didn't murder Jason?Copy !req
588. What was she doing
with his gun?Copy !req
589. Maybe they knew each otherCopy !req
590. a lot better
than Jason let on.Copy !req
591. Having an affair?Copy !req
592. Susan Coyle and Jason ConnorCopy !req
593. were definitely
having an affair.Copy !req
594. How do you know that?Copy !req
595. I'll show you.Copy !req
596. Coyle family tree.Copy !req
597. We call it a genotype.Copy !req
598. We know Shannon's fetus
should have hadCopy !req
599. half its genes from Shannon
and half from the father.Copy !req
600. I re-tested the DNA just in case
the samples were contaminated.Copy !req
601. Got the same results.Copy !req
602. The fetus has 62-percent
of Shannon's genes.Copy !req
603. So it was incest.
Yes.Copy !req
604. But her brother Brian's
not a match.Copy !req
605. And we know that
Shannon's father BarryCopy !req
606. was gone for more
than eight weeks,Copy !req
607. so it couldn't have been him.Copy !req
608. So who got Shannon pregnant?Copy !req
609. At first I thought
there wasCopy !req
610. another sibling
we didn't know about.Copy !req
611. Or her family lied about
no uncles or cousins.Copy !req
612. We checked,
we couldn't find any.Copy !req
613. Then there's only
one other option.Copy !req
614. The fetus has
a double grandparent.Copy !req
615. What the hell does that mean?Copy !req
616. The DNA confirms it.Copy !req
617. Shannon and the guy
who impregnated herCopy !req
618. have the same father.Copy !req
619. Jason Connor and Barry Coyle
are the same person.Copy !req
620. Which means that Aidan Connor
is the father of Shannon's baby.Copy !req
621. It all makes sense now.Copy !req
622. Jason's behavior.Copy !req
623. All those trips out of town
to "manage his projects."Copy !req
624. Why Susan never wanted us
to meet Barry.Copy !req
625. He was a fraud.
He didn't exist.Copy !req
626. You're sure Aidan didn't know?Copy !req
627. I'm not sure of anything now.Copy !req
628. We have to tell him.Copy !req
629. No, please.Copy !req
630. He's a good boy.Copy !req
631. First his girlfriend gets
murdered, then his father.Copy !req
632. I don't think
he can handle any more.Copy !req
633. I'm sorry.Copy !req
634. But we have to find out
who killed your husband.Copy !req
635. Where's my mom?Copy !req
636. With my boss.Copy !req
637. You and I,
we got to talk privately.Copy !req
638. Look, I told you
I didn't kill Shannon.Copy !req
639. I believe you.Copy !req
640. There's something
you need to know.Copy !req
641. About what?Copy !req
642. Your father.Copy !req
643. You know who shot him?Copy !req
644. We're investigating.Copy !req
645. I know how much
you loved your dad.Copy !req
646. So what I'm about
to tell youCopy !req
647. is not gonna be
easy to understand.Copy !req
648. Did he do something wrong?Copy !req
649. Aidan, your father...
was also Shannon's father.Copy !req
650. Shannon's not my sister.Copy !req
651. Her DNA tests prove she is.Copy !req
652. How can you know this?Copy !req
653. Because Shannon was pregnant.Copy !req
654. And we tested the
fetus's genes.Copy !req
655. The fetus?Copy !req
656. Oh, God.Copy !req
657. Listen to me,
this is not your fault.Copy !req
658. No.
None of this
is your fault.Copy !req
659. No...Copy !req
660. She was my sister?Copy !req
661. I had sex with my sister?Copy !req
662. It's not true!Copy !req
663. ( sobbing ):
It's not...Copy !req
664. He couldn't fake that kind
of physical reaction.Copy !req
665. This kid didn't kill anyone.Copy !req
666. Susan and Brian Coyle just
turned up south of Montreal.Copy !req
667. State Police stopped themCopy !req
668. from crossing
into Canada.Copy !req
669. Bring them back.Copy !req
670. Where's Brian?Copy !req
671. He's down the hall.Copy !req
672. We have done nothing wrong.Copy !req
673. Why are you taking us
back to New York?Copy !req
674. You're under arrest for murder.Copy !req
675. You think I killed
my own daughter?Copy !req
676. Not Shannon.Copy !req
677. Her father, Jason Connor.Copy !req
678. What?Copy !req
679. Jason's dead?Copy !req
680. I didn't kill Jason.Copy !req
681. He was shot with
your gun, Susan.Copy !req
682. No, you've got this
all wrong.Copy !req
683. Really?Copy !req
684. Now are you gonna put on
another performanceCopy !req
685. like you did when you slapped
your son around?Copy !req
686. I knew Brian
didn't hurt Shannon.Copy !req
687. That's true.Copy !req
688. I was just trying
to protect Jason.Copy !req
689. Why would you protect the man
who murdered your daughter?Copy !req
690. He didn't murder Shannon.
It was an accident.Copy !req
691. You knew what happened
all along.Copy !req
692. From the first time
we talked to you.Copy !req
693. I suggest you start
telling the truth.Copy !req
694. Jason called Shannon
after they saw each other,Copy !req
695. and they met a couple of blocks
from the school.Copy !req
696. When Jason told Shannon, Aidan
was her brother, she fell apart.Copy !req
697. She told him she was pregnant.Copy !req
698. Jason begged Shannon
to forgive him.Copy !req
699. She pushed him away.Copy !req
700. She slipped and fell backwards
and hit her head.Copy !req
701. Jason tried to revive her,
but it was too late.Copy !req
702. She was gone.Copy !req
703. So he left her in an alley.Copy !req
704. Jason was confused.Copy !req
705. He didn't know what to do.Copy !req
706. And you bought his story.Copy !req
707. You're telling me
that you don't blame JasonCopy !req
708. for your daughter's death?Copy !req
709. Would I blame him
if he was with ShannonCopy !req
710. and she got hit by a car?Copy !req
711. Of course not.Copy !req
712. Jason would give up
everything he hadCopy !req
713. before he'd hurt Shannon.Copy !req
714. When did Jason tell you this?Copy !req
715. The night it happened.Copy !req
716. He came to me
after Brian was asleep.Copy !req
717. He was devastated,Copy !req
718. crying.Copy !req
719. He said he was finally
going to leave his wife.Copy !req
720. He told me I should take Brian
and drive up to Montreal,Copy !req
721. catch a plane to Cuba.Copy !req
722. That he would meet us
in Havana in a few days.Copy !req
723. Susan...Copy !req
724. your daughter is dead.Copy !req
725. Nothing's going
to bring Shannon back.Copy !req
726. Why would I kill him?Copy !req
727. We found the real Barry CoyleCopy !req
728. living outside St. Louis
with his wife and two kids.Copy !req
729. Susan tells us that
Jason stole his name
and professionCopy !req
730. from an engineering directory
from the public library.Copy !req
731. What about Susan's
travel plans?Copy !req
732. We found Brian and Susan's
plane tickets to Cuba.Copy !req
733. But not Jason's.Copy !req
734. There's no evidence
he ever intendedCopy !req
735. to go down there
and meet them.Copy !req
736. If he backed out,Copy !req
737. could be why
Susan killed him.Copy !req
738. I'd say that's a good bet.Copy !req
739. Debra Connor brought
some show-and-tell.Copy !req
740. Mrs. Connor,
can I help you?Copy !req
741. I'm here to help you.Copy !req
742. What are these?Copy !req
743. My diamonds.Copy !req
744. They were in my
safe-deposit boxCopy !req
745. until they were stolen
two days ago.Copy !req
746. Susan Coyle?Copy !req
747. How'd she get in your vault?Copy !req
748. She had ID in my name,
and she forged my signature.Copy !req
749. I never went to that bank.Copy !req
750. Jason always took care
of our finances.Copy !req
751. How much was the jewelry worth?Copy !req
752. Over two million dollars.Copy !req
753. She cleaned me out.Copy !req
754. Thank you.Copy !req
755. Susan stole the diamonds,Copy !req
756. she had the gun,
she had the motive.Copy !req
757. I have all I need
for an indictment.Copy !req
758. The bank called me.Copy !req
759. Said I'd forgotten my sunglasses
the previous day.Copy !req
760. I said that was impossible
because I'd never been there.Copy !req
761. That's when I learned
I'd been robbed.Copy !req
762. How long were you married
to Jason, Mrs. Connor?Copy !req
763. 26 years.Copy !req
764. Did you have any inkling
he was planning to leave you?Copy !req
765. No. Quite
the opposite.Copy !req
766. We were planning
a benefit dinnerCopy !req
767. the night after
he was murdered.Copy !req
768. He'd asked me to make sure
his tux was pressed.Copy !req
769. Thank you.Copy !req
770. Your witness.Copy !req
771. All those years
and you never knewCopy !req
772. your husband had
a second family?Copy !req
773. No. I trusted him.Copy !req
774. Obviously that trust
was misplaced.Copy !req
775. With all due respect,
Mrs. Connor,Copy !req
776. you must feel like the stupidest
woman on the planet.Copy !req
777. Objection.
Is there a question?Copy !req
778. I'll withdraw.Copy !req
779. Mrs. Connor,
do you own a handgun?Copy !req
780. No.Copy !req
781. Did your husband?Copy !req
782. He said he did.Copy !req
783. Are you saying you never saw it?Copy !req
784. Yes. I'm saying
I never saw it.Copy !req
785. Do you know where he kept it?Copy !req
786. No, I do not.
Nor do I want to.Copy !req
787. I don't like guns.Copy !req
788. It started out as an affair,Copy !req
789. but then I found out
I was pregnant with Shannon.Copy !req
790. And what did Jason say
when he found out?Copy !req
791. That children needed a fatherCopy !req
792. and he would be there
no matter what.Copy !req
793. He was good
to his word.Copy !req
794. But he wouldn't leave
his wife for you.Copy !req
795. Didn't you ever want
to break it off?Copy !req
796. Yes.Copy !req
797. But you didn't.Copy !req
798. Because you were
dependent on him?Copy !req
799. And because I loved him.Copy !req
800. And because he loved
Brian and Shannon.Copy !req
801. He tried to be as much
of a father as he could.Copy !req
802. He provided for them.Copy !req
803. Staying with Jason
was the only wayCopy !req
804. I could protect my kids.Copy !req
805. When Jason told youCopy !req
806. to meet him in Havana,Copy !req
807. did he give you money?Copy !req
808. No. But he did
give me his keyCopy !req
809. to the safe deposit box.Copy !req
810. I was only doingCopy !req
811. what he told me to.Copy !req
812. Objection. Hearsay.Copy !req
813. Sustained.Copy !req
814. Thank you.Copy !req
815. Nothing further.Copy !req
816. Did he give you the keyCopy !req
817. or did you take it from him
after you shot him?Copy !req
818. Objection.
Withdrawn.Copy !req
819. Ms. Coyle,Copy !req
820. it was really you
who forbade ShannonCopy !req
821. from seeing Aidan,
wasn't it?Copy !req
822. No, Debra Connor did, too.Copy !req
823. Because she didn't thinkCopy !req
824. that your daughter was
good enough for her son.Copy !req
825. But you didn't want them
to have a relationshipCopy !req
826. because you knew it would put
Jason's secret in jeopardy,Copy !req
827. isn't that right?Copy !req
828. Yes.Copy !req
829. People's two, Your Honor.Copy !req
830. Do you recognize this?Copy !req
831. Yes.Copy !req
832. We've heard testimony
that this weapon was usedCopy !req
833. to murder Jason Connor.Copy !req
834. Do you happen to knowCopy !req
835. in whose name
it's registered?Copy !req
836. My name.Copy !req
837. No further questions.Copy !req
838. Re-direct, Your Honor.Copy !req
839. When was the last time
you saw this gun?Copy !req
840. Approximately 15 years ago.Copy !req
841. I told Jason to get it
out of the house.Copy !req
842. Why was that?Copy !req
843. Shannon was a toddlerCopy !req
844. and I didn't
feel safeCopy !req
845. having a gun with
children around.Copy !req
846. Do you know
what happened to it?Copy !req
847. No. I never saw it again.Copy !req
848. The gun was Susan's,
but she didn't have it
in her possession.Copy !req
849. Right.Copy !req
850. I wouldn't worry about it.Copy !req
851. All this jury's heard
is how Susan's lived a lieCopy !req
852. for the last 20 years.Copy !req
853. They can't stand her.Copy !req
854. Elliot.Copy !req
855. Aidan.Copy !req
856. Can I talk to you alone?Copy !req
857. Yeah, what's up?Copy !req
858. Susan's telling the truth.Copy !req
859. About what?Copy !req
860. The gun that killed my father.Copy !req
861. It was in our house.Copy !req
862. Aidan, what are
you saying to me?Copy !req
863. Susan didn't kill
my dad, I did.Copy !req
864. Dad kept the gun
in his underwear drawer.Copy !req
865. Susan's lawyer was right.Copy !req
866. I knew Dad killed Shannon.Copy !req
867. Okay, but I want you to
tell me what happenedCopy !req
868. with you and your dad.Copy !req
869. I got the gun,
I went to his office.Copy !req
870. He was leaving.Copy !req
871. I got in his car
I and shot him.Copy !req
872. Just like that, huh?Copy !req
873. Are you going to arrest me now?Copy !req
874. Aidan, why are
you doing this?Copy !req
875. Because I'm guilty.Copy !req
876. His confession's not real,
but his guilt sure is.Copy !req
877. Because of the incest.Copy !req
878. Tell him he's not to blame; it's
not gonna change what happened.Copy !req
879. Why admit to something
he didn't do?Copy !req
880. To punish himself for
