KAOS 1x6

1. Hey.

2. How they doin'?

3. You know, Orpheus and your husband.

4. You okay?

5. Fuck you.

6. Hey! He's doin' it.

7. Your man's doin' it.

8. He's crossed the fucking Styx!

9. Can I?

10. Uh...

11. Sorry.

12. It's cool.

13. I forget, once you're dead, you don't need stuff in the same way.

14. Uh, are we nearly there yet?

15. What are you, five?

16. I'm really gonna need a drink soon.

17. Right.

18. This is it.

19. This is... This is what?

20. Your final test.

21. The wilderness.

22. I leave you here.

23. - You're leaving me? - Sorry, kid.

24. You gotta do this bit by yourself.

25. What's the test?

26. I don't know.

27. - No one's ever got this far before.

28. Okay. So, I... I just keep walking?

29. - This way? - Yeah.

30. Good luck.

31. Oh, wait! Shit. Thank...

32. Thank you.

33. I defy them. I defy the gods.

34. I can't sleep. - I can't sleep either.

35. All I can think about is that place, what Hades did...

36. Can I come in?

37. Uh, yeah. Yeah, sure.

38. Is that your mom? Uh, yeah.

39. I've been thinking about mine too.

40. She became a tacita when I was five.

41. Oh, wow.

42. Yeah. Cut out her tongue, gave herself to Hera.

43. Great honor, right? Serve the gods.

44. I wouldn't accept it.

45. I used to curse them every night.

46. Maybe that's why I felt so much pain in that place.

47. It's for bad people, for people who dishonored the gods.

48. Well, if that's the case, then I would have felt it too.

49. I... I dishonored the gods.

50. How?

51. I changed.

52. Well, I... I would say I just... I became myself.

53. - But that's not how the Amazons saw it. - Just keep it nice and soft.

54. When boys come of age, they have to leave the compound.

55. If they ever return, they're executed.

56. My best friend had just been sent away.

57. He was the only person who knew how I felt.

58. Caenis.

59. Leos?

60. You shouldn't be here.

61. I want to come home, Caenis.

62. I hate it.

63. They'll kill you if they find you.

64. You're a man now.

65. You're not allowed.

66. When are you going to tell them about you?

67. You promised, Leos.

68. Take this.

69. It's bright.

70. You need to go.

71. Over here!

72. Go.

73. Never tell anyone.

74. Not if you want to stay here.

75. Leos!

76. You both knew the rules.

77. No men, Sofie.

78. No men.

79. Caenis...

80. You're my flesh,

81. my blood, my bones.

82. I know you.

83. Do you understand me?

84. When you were small, I thought it was a phase, but...

85. the form really doesn't fit the content.

86. Does it?

87. - What do you mean? - You know what I mean.

88. You have to leave.

89. No. I don't want to do that.

90. - I'm an Amazon, Mom. - You can't be.

91. But I am.

92. I have a friend in Krete. She'll help you.

93. Your male name would be Caeneus, by the way.

94. It... You could pick something else, of course.

95. Do you hate me?

96. The opposite.

97. My mom's prophecy actually foretold that I'd be a boy.

98. When I was born, she was relieved, you know.

99. - Thought there'd been a mistake.

100. But there aren't any mistakes when it comes to prophecies.

101. I used to curse the gods too.

102. I still do.

103. Yeah, humans do terrible things to each other in the name of Olympus.

104. But I don't think the gods care about us at all.

105. My mother, she loved me.

106. I know she did.

107. But she betrayed me because of them.

108. Yeah, fuck the gods.

109. I mean it.

110. I hate them.

111. Same.

112. I'm sorry. I...

113. Water.

114. I need water.

115. Fuck!

116. No.

117. Come on.

118. Come on.

119. - No tie. - Tie.

120. You want him to take you seriously.

121. I promise you, it's the right thing, tellin' him.

122. There are so many of them, Persephone.

123. It could break.

124. The whole place could break. Not just down here.

125. Olympus, Earth...

126. Everything could just fall apart.

127. The Nothing was never meant to take that many.

128. That's why the Frame glitched.

129. And that's why we're going to Zeus.

130. How have I let this happen?

131. I've not been in there for so long. I'd avoided it, ignored it.

132. And it stops today.

133. We are dealing with it... right now.

134. My love, have a little self-belief.

135. You're not one of his ball boys.

136. You're his brother.

137. You are the god of death.

138. Who else is he gonna listen to?

139. Would you drink your fuckin' Meander water?

140. Please. It's just rude at this point.

141. There you go.

142. So, how are you? How are the phases?

143. - Uh, no more phases. - Ah?

144. Humans are not the problem.

145. I need to get to the source.

146. Uh, I think I need to destroy the Fates.

147. Destroy them, destroy my prophecy.

148. Uh, why do...

149. It... That would mean you would destroy...

150. You could destroy the entire world. You would...

151. You... You could destroy yourself.

152. Oh.

153. You know, the thing about the prophecy

154. is that it didn't foretell that you'd become immortal.

155. It didn't... It didn't predict that you'd become the ruler of all things

156. and the creator of Olympus because you've transcended.

157. You've ascended beyond it.

158. It has no meaning now other than the meaning you insist on giving it.

159. Oh. Interesting point.

160. You know there are humans on Earth

161. who are less bound by their prophecy than you are?

162. Like who?

163. Like President Minos of Krete.

164. - He lives in direct defiance of it. Yeah.

165. Wait, are you talking about the son?

166. The... The Minotaur?

167. Yeah, he has avoided his fate.

168. No, until the kid escapes and kills him, then it comes true.

169. No, he's just delayed it.

170. He's just...

171. Wait a minute. That's an idea.

172. Wait a minute. That's the answer.

173. Wow. What if, um,

174. we get Minos to kill his son?

175. Defy his prophecy, yeah. Follow me here.

176. If a human, an ordinary human, can defy what is written,

177. then, yeah, I could forget what was written about me.

178. It's a nice idea.

179. I think it's more than nice.

180. Caeneus?

181. Yeah?

182. What do you miss most? About being alive.

183. God. All of it.

184. Mm.

185. You have to choose.

186. - What do you miss most?

187. That smell when you water plants in the evening when it's warm.

188. Mm.

189. I had this tiny balcony in my apartment, and I bought all these pots.

190. You know, herbs, flowers.

191. Nothing grew in the Amazon compound.

192. But there, they did.

193. What about you?

194. What do you miss most?

195. Right now?

196. - Not very much. Come on.

197. No, I... I mean it.

198. You know, Orpheus, he, uh... he always felt enough for the both of us.

199. I never felt like this when I was alive.

200. So... what was your prophecy?

201. No. No, no, no.

202. Come on. I'm not Prue.

203. Fine. Uh...

204. A line appears, the order wanes, the family falls, and kaos reigns.

205. It's not great, is it?

206. Like I said, I crossed a line.

207. I changed. Changed my body.

208. Changed the order.

209. Ruined my family.

210. And brought chaos.

211. What?

212. It's the same as mine.

213. - That's impossible.

214. The word "prophecy" is banned. I've told the ball boys.

215. Well, the ones he hasn't shot, anyway.

216. - Where is he? - He went to see Prometheus.

217. Aren't you tired of all this bullshit?

218. Can't we just get away from it all?

219. - Maybe. There you are! Oh.

220. Uh, I got a job for you.

221. - Me? Yes!

222. - Minos, your guy in Krete. Tell him to— Zeus! Zeus.

223. I need to talk to you.

224. What the f...

225. - What do they want? - I have no idea.

226. Persephone, I know it's very on-brand, but would a color hurt?

227. - I need to talk. - It's the worst possible time.

228. - We're in the middle of something. Now, Zeus!

229. Keep your knickers on.

230. This affects all of you, and you should all hear it.

231. - Yes, they should. Yeah.

232. - Okay. All right. Well, can we go inside?

233. Yes. It's very bright.

234. No.

235. Tell me.

236. But what does it mean now?

237. If we share it.

238. Who's "the family"?

239. I... I met a woman on my last day.

240. I think... she knew that I was gonna die.

241. Today's the day.

242. I think my mom did too. That's why she wrote down my prophecy.

243. I think that our prophecies have something to do with that place.

244. No one ever said anything about another place in the underworld.

245. Never. Not at school, not at temple.

246. Yeah, it was... it was just Renewal.

247. That's Hades's gift to us. He... He built the Frame for Renewal.

248. Oh shit.

249. Lies, lies, lies!

250. Hades's gift to us is the Frame.

251. People dedicate their lives to the gods in order to renew.

252. To get a better life the next time round.

253. What if there is no next time?

254. What if everyone that goes through the Frame ends up in that place?

255. They're stealing our souls!

256. - I think that it's all a lie. - There's no Renewal?

257. And the family who could fall...

258. - Is the gods.

259. Bingo.

260. - Where is that guy? Zeus, he's there.

261. What? - This side.

262. - Zeus. - Ah. Don't sneak up on me like that.

263. All right, quickly! Quickly! Enough!

264. Out! Out!

265. - Thank you. Help yourselves. - No, thanks.

266. Um, no... no Meander water?

267. No, today, just, uh... just the juice.

268. So, yes, please, Hades.

269. Uh, Zeus...

270. I love you.

271. Okay.

272. So what I'm about to say is because I want to protect you.

273. - Do you understand that? - Are you on some 12-step program, or...

274. Shut up. Let him talk.

275. I think you're right.

276. I think the prophecy is real and you are making it come true.

277. Hades, for crying out loud.

278. I had to go down into the Nothing yesterday.

279. Why? A soul escaped.

280. The Frame hadn't worked, and he was... Well, he was unfinished.

281. - He had to do a manual extraction. - Yeah.

282. - A bit old-school. - Has that happened before?

283. Never, but there'll be more.

284. Because it's a sign that the underworld

285. cannot take the strain that you are putting on it.

286. There wouldn't be a strain if you did your job, but you don't.

287. You don't listen to me. You'd listen to this—

288. Zeus, please! Get a grip!

289. It's been like this ever since we were kids!

290. You refuse to listen, you refuse to take advice,

291. and as soon as everything goes to shit, you just look for someone else to blame.

292. Well, it won't be me this time. Do you understand?

293. You told me to make the Frame.

294. But, Zeus, there are too many souls passing through it.

295. And now I think it's making everything unstable.

296. Because what do you think happens in the long term?

297. What? What? - Huh? Ah.

298. I'll show you. Look.

299. I mean, we get all the juice.

300. Oh, yes.

301. We take all the bloody juice, don't we?

302. - Oh god. Is he doing a metaphor? Look. We take it, and we take it...

303. And none of it goes back to the Earth anymore!

304. These don't get the time or the space to disintegrate.

305. This eventually breaks.

306. And what do we do when we run out of these?

307. Can't run out of these. Not possible. Can't run out of souls.

308. How do you know that?

309. 'Cause I'm the king of the motherfuckin' gods, Hades.

310. - I'm the reason you're all here.

311. Zeus, we... we do have to start again.

312. We have to go back to the way it was and... and allow a baseline level of Renewal

313. for the safety and the preservation of us all.

314. Absolutely not.

315. What are you so scared of?

316. You're paranoid, just like Dad.

317. Hades, look at you. You're... You're sweatin'.

318. - You're... You're flushed. Are you hot? - Yes, it's hot.

319. Oh well, take a dip.

320. - Go in the pool. - No, I... I'm fine, thanks.

321. It wasn't a suggestion. Get in.

322. No, no. Don't... don't... don't do that. Don't...

323. - What did you say? What did she say?

324. It's okay. I'll swim.

325. - It's okay. You hate swimming.

326. You hate swimming. You don't have to do this, all right?

327. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah.

328. - Talk him into it. - Zeus.

329. There you go.

330. There you go.

331. - Feel good? - It's fine, thanks.

332. Look. Mommy approves, right?

333. I'm not scared of you, Zeus.

334. - You should be. Well, I'm not.

335. Even though you seem to be trying to behave exactly like our father.

336. - What is...? What— Shh.

337. - Shh. Well, look at you now.

338. You did it. You destroyed Dad.

339. Just don't become him.

340. - Listen to what I'm telling you. - Great.

341. And what... what is that, um, exactly?

342. There are forces even greater than us.

343. Even if you don't like it, you know that there are.

344. I think the prophecy is a warning.

345. It's not too late.

346. You must reset the Frame, Zeus.

347. - It was never meant to be all souls!

348. If you won't do that to protect the family, then I will.

349. - Please.

350. - I'm just trying to help. - No, no! No, you're not!

351. You're trying to destroy me. You want to rule in my place.

352. - What? Yeah!

353. - You're an ambitious little weasel. Zeus.

354. That's what you are. - Zeus.

355. You never liked that I gave you death. You always felt you deserved more,

356. but you're the runt, Hades.

357. You're where you belong, down in the dark!

358. If there's no Renewal, we need to prove it.

359. - Should we go back to that place? - Absolutely not—

360. - Yes, we do. We go back, and—

361. Oh, Prue. Hello.

362. - Caeneus. - Is everything all right? What time is it?

363. Well, time for work, so you might want to get a wriggle on.

364. Um, I just, um, wanted to talk to you about last night.

365. I shouldn't have gone on about your prophecy.

366. Oh, it's fine.

367. I don't want it to affect our friendship going forward.

368. Really, Prue, it's okay.

369. Well, you didn't miss much after you left.

370. Well, Adrian had a small cry.

371. Where did you go?

372. Uh, uh... just... just here.

373. Hmm. Riddy.

374. Hi, Prue.

375. Have you been here all night?

376. I thought you were married.

377. I'm dead.

378. Well, I'd better get to work.

379. You're a nice boy, Caeneus.

380. - Work. That's it. - What?

381. We go to the River Lethe, and we stop people going through the Frame.

382. Uh.

383. Fuck.

384. Fuck!

385. Hades, please wake up, darling.

386. You can't leave me with these vultures. Wake up.

387. Look, he's breathing! He's... he's breathing. He's breathing.

388. He's breathing. He's...

389. Of course he's breathing. I didn't kill him.

390. But I could, Persephone.

391. So you better make damn sure that he never pulls

392. any shit like that ever again!

393. The Frame stays as it is, and you guys deal with the Nothing.

394. That's your job!

395. Now...

396. come with me.

397. I will destroy him, Hera.

398. I swear, I will find a way.

399. The fuck is going on?

400. He was being a jag-off. He was bein' a prick.

401. - He's our brother, Zeus. - And he'll be fine.

402. - Now, listen. Minos... - What? What about him?

403. - Tell him to kill his son. - What?

404. Why?

405. Because everybody thinks I'm not relaxed.

406. And seein' a prophecy defied is gonna help me relax.

407. - Okay. Sure. Yeah.

408. We'll... We'll watch it. Live.

409. I'll make lamb.

410. - Salmon for you.

411. But... you can't help him.

412. He's gotta do it alone.

413. - He will.

414. - Yes!

415. So he definitely can?

416. With my help, he can kill the firstborn, the son, the Minotaur?

417. Hmm?

418. I thought Zeus said you weren't allowed to help.

419. I can't even remember his prophecy. Can you?

420. - No. Cloth ears?

421. Um, no.

422. We write so many, you see.

423. This help?

424. Why, thank you.

425. No, I remember this one.

426. "Your end begins in the marital bed."

427. "The first child to draw breath will kill you dead."

428. That was quite fun.

429. Well, go ahead, by all means.

430. To be clear, Minos can kill his son?

431. He can.

432. So people can defy their prophecies?

433. Occasionally.

434. Yassas!

435. Hades is right. Zeus, you are behaving like Kronos.

436. I am not like Dad.

437. But he lives in you.

438. Do not be what you swore you would not be, Zeus.

439. The time has come to tell you the truth

440. about how the gods were created.

441. Zeus hated his father.

442. They all did.

443. And so, one day, after years of torment, Zeus killed him.

444. He attacked him with such violence, such passion,

445. such fervor, and a most remarkable thing happened.

446. At the point of Kronos's death, Zeus absorbed his father's soul.

447. It became part of him.

448. It gave him power, and that power was intoxicating.

449. He wanted more.

450. It took Zeus years to work out how he'd done this.

451. But when he did, he did it again.

452. And again.

453. And again.

454. Eventually, Zeus got tired of all the killing.

455. And so the Frame was invented.

456. Not to renew human souls, but to harvest them.

457. To liquidize them.

458. The whole process was industrialized, sanitized.

459. The gods drink it to stay immortal.

460. And so, the lie must be preserved.

461. The myths maintained.

462. The humans distracted.

463. That's what Zeus relies on.

464. Distraction.

465. - I'm coming with you to see Minos.

466. Because he needs to succeed, Poseidon.

467. President Minos.

468. Your queen, Hera of Olympia.

469. I can't begin to tell you, ma'am,

470. what an honor this is to actually be in your presence.

471. Yes, yes. Shut up, Minos. Enough.

472. Well, can... can I get you something? Uh...

473. Enough!

474. To what do I owe the honor, ma'am?

475. Your son, Glaucus.

476. You need to kill him.

477. - But... Yep.

478. What are you...? But he's my son.

479. You keep him in a dungeon.

480. Because I couldn't kill him. I can't.

481. Hera, please, ma'am.

482. You must understand.

483. Really, why? Why must I understand?

484. Because you're a mother.

485. Aren't you?

486. You will kill him.

487. And if you refuse, which you won't, or if you fail, which you just can't,

488. then I will take your other child,

489. and I will make her suffer in ways that you cannot imagine.

490. Now, do you understand?

491. But how will I kill him? My prophecy.

492. You have our protection.

493. Speaking of children, this was made by one of mine.

494. Just... Just go and put some clothes on.

495. What?

496. - What if it doesn't work? - It will. It will.

497. You went to see the Fates. Everything will go back to normal.

498. - What if Zeus hurts me like he did Hades? - I won't let him.

499. How are you going to stop Zeus? You have no control over him.

500. You won't even let me fuck you without your tongueless vanguard around.

501. You're scared of him.

502. Come with me.

503. Hey.

504. Hey.

505. Hey. Hey.

506. Hey! Hey!

507. Hello.

508. Do I know you?

509. No.

510. Is that water?

511. Yep.

512. Is it real?

513. Want one?

514. Yes.

515. Yes, please.

516. Thank you. Thank you.

517. Just... one thing I'm required to say.

518. Small print.

519. If you drink that, you won't be able to get your wife back.

520. Wait. What?

521. It's an either-or situation.

522. But...

523. Where is she?

524. How much further is it?

525. I... I... I'm dying.

549. I'm alive.

550. I'm looking for my wife.

551. Her name's Eurydice.

552. Riddy.

553. You're Riddy's husband?

554. You know her?

555. Can you take me to her?

556. Yeah! Yeah, yeah. Of course.

557. Let's get to the Lethe. Whatever we have to do, we'll do together.

558. Okay?

559. If that's Prue, I swear to god...
