1. Starting from that side, tell us special ways you eat snacks.

2. Well, I don't know if it's a special way,

3. but I like to wrap rice crackers in ham.

4. Rice crackers with ham?

5. So that's why you're fat.

6. I'm not fat.

7. Of course you are.

8. He's not fat, he's just a growing—

9. "Fruits Basket"

10. Man, it totally feels like summer now.

11. In summer, you gotta go to the pool.

12. This is the life.

13. Why's the delinquent here for swimming class?

14. Don't they usually ditch?

15. It's weird that an outdated delinquent like her is even part of our class...

16. right...?

17. Sorry, I was wrong.

18. She's the weirdest one.

19. Well, rather than weird...

20. —... she's scary!

21. —Wow, you both swim fast! —... she's scary!

22. Did you find your hair tie?

23. No, it must have drifted away.

24. It's a shame. Now I can't enjoy the pool.

25. You like the pool, too, huh?

26. Hana-chan!

27. I found an extra hair tie!

28. "School Swimsuit"

29. You went looking for one for me?

30. Thank you, Tohru-kun.

31. You're welcome!

32. Uo-chan? What's the matter?

33. Arisa, you must get used to it.

34. You see Tohru-kun in her school swimsuit every year.

35. Yeah, I know, but...

36. —Uo-chan, Hana-chan! It's deep here! —They were mandatory in middle school,

37. —Uo-chan, Hana-chan! It's deep here! —but we can wear our own now!

38. Isn't it adorable, though?

39. I'm not saying it's unflattering or embarrassing!

40. But it's like...

41. It's the feeling I get seeing a grandpa and grandma

42. buy convenience store food.

43. They probably think nothing of it,

44. but I can't stand watching them. It's so sad.

45. And I start crying for no reason!

46. The tears just start flowing!

47. Yeah, I actually cry when ringing them up!

48. Arisa, you cry so easily.

49. Swimsuits are expensive,

50. so I thought it would be wasteful to buy one when this one still fits.

51. I should buy one this year, though.

52. I don't want to cause Uo-chan more grief.

53. Ah, I know!

54. I have a great idea!

55. We're about to shop for Tohru's new swimsuit.

56. I decided it'll be a present from all of us.

57. You better be in.

58. What? Why are you deciding things for us?

59. And why a sw-swim—

60. Quit blushing.

61. Don't you all make Tohru do all the housework?

62. Show her some gratitude once in a while.

63. Swimsuit...

64. Nice. I like the sound of that!

65. I love summer!

66. See, the writer's all in.

67. Ignore the pervert!

68. Well... I'm fine with buying a present.

69. But... why a swimsuit?

70. Right, you don't know.

71. It's because Tohru-kun still wears her school swimsuit.

72. That's gross, Shigure!

73. What are you doing?

74. Sorry to keep you waiting—

75. Tohru-kun!

76. Tohru-kun! Please buy one. Please, go buy a proper one!

77. Huh? Um...

78. You will, won't you? I'm begging you! I can't bear it if you don't!

79. He's weak when it comes to Tohru-kun, too.

80. Uh-huh.

81. Picking one will be harder than I thought.

82. There are so many types.

83. Perhaps a one-piece?

84. Hey, you two!

85. Do you like bikinis or one-piece swimsuits better?

86. Don't ask us!

87. Hey, come here and help out.

88. Don't make guys come to places like this, seriously.

89. What? Then why'd you come along?

90. You forcefully dragged us here!

91. —Why be embarrassed if your thoughts are pure? —This one's cute, too!

92. It's not like I'm asking your underwear preference.

93. You should feel a little more embarrassed!

94. Fine, fine.

95. A color, then.

96. You can at least think of a color that looks good on Tohru.

97. —Blue. —Orange.

98. Blue? What about her makes you think she'd look good in that bleak color?

99. And you think orange is better?

100. That idiotic color is for idiots like you.

101. Don't call me an idiot!

102. A brighter color fits her better!

103. It's too bright for Honda-san.

104. Back off if you have no aesthetic sense.

105. —Not like you have any either! —These two are like an open book.

106. —More than an idiot like you. —These two are like an open book.

107. —Orange would look better, and that's that! —These two are like an open book.

108. —Orange would look better, and that's that! —How do they not realize? Are they stupid?

109. —Blue! —How do they not realize? Are they stupid?

110. Pink!

111. Tohru-kun would look best in p-i-n-k.

112. You think other colors could be better? Not that they wouldn't look good.

113. Try again after you've studied more.

114. Yeah. Pink is best for Tohru.

115. Don't ask us if you'd already decided!

116. Why not? Now you gave your input.

117. Kyoko-san did say that pink fit Tohru best.

118. She'd say that she was red, because she was the Crimson Butterfly.

119. And that Tohru's dad, a straightforward man, was white.

120. Mix those, and you get pink for Tohru.

121. A pink swimsuit?

122. Yep. That'll definitely be cute.

123. It seems both you and Hanajima-san really love Honda-san.

124. Yeah. I mentioned before that Tohru saved me,

125. and thanks to her, I'm happy as a respectable civilian.

126. Respectable? You consider yourself respectable?

127. Anyone with eyes can see I am.

128. —Unbelievable. —What are you gonna do, Ishi-chan?

129. —Well, believe it, 'cause it's true. —What are you gonna do, Ishi-chan?

130. —Well, believe it, 'cause it's true. —Isn't that Uotani?

131. Yeah, right! She left the gang, but look how much she stands out!

132. Wanna rough her up?

133. She's got guys with her, though.

134. Idiot. A pair of ordinary guys can't scare us.

135. They'll just turn tail and run like all the other useless guys these days.

136. Got that right.

137. But...

138. they're some good-looking guys.

139. Yeah... They're some good-looking guys.

140. What? A-A present for me?

141. Oh, but...

142. Thank you for everything you do.

143. B-But I don't deserve...

144. Come on, just take it.

145. Yes, it represents our feelings of gratitude.

146. Please accept it, Honda-san.

147. Thank you very much. I will treasure it...

148. very much!

149. Tohru!

150. Tohru-kun.

151. "Soba"

152. Here's your seat.

153. Which swimsuit did you end up getting?

154. You'll find out when she wears it.

155. You'll all probably go to the beach, right?

156. Yeah, I hope so.

157. The three of us should take a trip somewhere, too.

158. Yes!

159. I look forward to it.

160. The three of you are very close.

161. Did you meet in elementary school?

162. No, we met in middle school.

163. Hanajima, you transferred to our school in 8th grade?

164. Yes. I caused some minor problems at my previous school.

165. Oh...

166. Uo-chan, you were still active then, right?

167. Yeah. I joined the gang in 5th grade.

168. You always wore a mask.

169. With thinned eyebrows and a long skirt, too.

170. Oh, Arisa. That's still true today.

171. I guess you're right.

172. Why is she so cheerful?

173. That said, I was way more on edge back then.

174. Kinda like an unfed lion, I guess?

175. A problem child that left my teachers and dad hopeless.

176. I wonder why it's so easy to "go bad."

177. Before I knew it, I'd joined a female gang,

178. running with tough women and causing nothing but trouble.

179. I punched people and got punched.

180. You don't even wanna know half the things I did.

181. In short, I was a great, big idiot.

182. I was an idiot,

183. but still...

184. there was someone I looked up to.

185. She pushed aside men and became a gang leader, despite being a woman.

186. Her street name was the Crimson Butterfly.

187. She was Kyoko-san, Tohru's mom.

188. Oi, Ishicchi, when are you gonna say something?

189. Wait.

190. After I get a picture of those guys.

191. E-Excuse me...

192. "Soba"

193. Enjoy your meal.

194. All right! The food's here!

195. You briefly mentioned this before...

196. Uh, so Honda-san, your mom was...

197. Yes! Mom was a bike gang leader before she had me.

198. Oh... I see...

199. It's hard to imagine, knowing you.

200. She wasn't just any ordinary delinquent!

201. They say whenever she rode her motorcycle,

202. the red tail lights resembled a fluttering butterfly.

203. She was strong in a fight,

204. and chivalrous, too.

205. Every time the older members talked about her,

206. my admiration grew.

207. It happens to everybody, right?

208. They're your hero, and you put them on a pedestal.

209. You really love the Butterfly, huh, Uotani.

210. Oh, yeah, I heard that the Butterfly lives near here.

211. You serious?

212. Yeah. They say she got married and changed her last name to Honda,

213. and that she has a daughter your age.

214. She might even go to your middle school.

215. The Butterfly's daughter?

216. Look out, it's Uotani.

217. It's Kyoko-san's daughter we're talking about.

218. She must be a total delinquent.

219. "Yo, I'm Crimson Butterfly II"

220. "Yo, I'm Crimson Butterfly II" "Mental Image"

221. I'm pretty sure I'd have noticed someone like that...

222. But if all goes well, I might be able to meet Kyoko-san, the real deal!

223. —I-I'm sorry— —Ow, watch where you're goin', dummy.

224. I-I will. I'm very sorry. I will be more careful—

225. O-Oh, no! How terrible.

226. —Oh, I'm such a... —What's with her?

227. —Hey, did you watch last night? —Please don't step on them.

228. —Yeah! —Wasn't the host awesome? —Please don't step on them.

229. —Yeah! —Wasn't the host awesome? —P-Please don't step...

230. —Naw, the comedian group was way funnier. —P-Please don't step...

231. —Naw, the comedian group was way funnier. —Excuse me, p-please don't step on those.

232. —What? Were you even watching? —Excuse me, p-please don't step on those.

233. —Of course I was! —Excuse me, p-please don't step on those.

234. She said don't step on them, you dumbos!

235. And you! Stop spacing out and pick these up!

236. O-Okay!

237. Screw everyone for making me do this crap.

238. You. What's your name?

239. Oh. Um... I'm Tohru Honda.

240. Honda?

241. I'll kick your butt if you end up claiming to be the Crimson Butterfly's daughter.

242. Oh, yes!

243. That was my mom's name when she was active.

244. Grit your teeth.

245. H-H-Huh?

246. Seriously?

247. Please do meet my mom. She'll like that.

248. Is she...

249. actually the Kyoko-san's daughter?

250. Of course I wouldn't realize.

251. She's as plain as you get.

252. What's more...

253. Um, may I call you Uotani-san?

254. Huh? Y-Yeah.

255. Nice to meet you, Uotani-san!

256. She seems...

257. a little, how should I put it...

258. strange.

259. You're back! Welcome home, Tohru!

260. —Wh-What the heck? —I'm back. You're heavy.

261. I'm so lucky that I get to meet you on your way back!

262. Hey, listen! Today—

263. Before that, Mom, someone wants to meet you.

264. Could this...

265. person be...

266. Oh, my, and who's this?

267. This is Uotani-san.

268. The Kyoko-san that I admired so much...

269. had become a total doting parent.

270. At that moment,

271. my admiration for her crumbled to dust.

272. It was a huge disappointment at the time.

273. Which was totally unfair of me.

274. I'd made up this image of her as my hero,

275. and then had the nerve to be disappointed when the real her wasn't what I expected.

276. It's obvious she'd be different from what I'd imagined.

277. Selfish, huh?

278. Kyoko-san just smiled.

279. She smiled and forgave my selfishness back then.

280. Sorry it's such a mess. Anyway, make yourself comfortable.

281. The Crimson Butterfly is bringing in the laundry!

282. Say, Uo-chan, why don't you join us for dinner?

283. "Uo-chan"?

284. It's Uotani, right? So, I'll call you Uo-chan.

285. Excuse me?

286. Please join us for dinner, Uo-chan!

287. It's already stuck!

288. Oh, er... I'm going home.

289. Oh, come on! Stay and eat.

290. Tohru's a great cook!

291. Th-That's not...

292. By the way, what's for dinner tonight?

293. Let's see, meat stewed with potatoes and marinated rapeseed blossoms.

294. I've really got to go.

295. Oh, my, are your parents pretty strict?

296. You can tell from looking at me that I don't have strict parents.

297. That's not necessarily true.

298. Everyone's circumstances are different.

299. I'm just completely disappointed!

300. That the Crimson Butterfly turned into a domestic, overly friendly, doting parent!

301. I can't believe you've sunken this low!

302. I just relaxed a bit, that's all.

303. Uo-chan!

304. Uo-chan! Um, you forgot this!

305. Don't nickname me like you're my friend!

306. I don't want anything to do with you anymore.

307. Run home and let your mommy spoil you!

308. So stupid!

309. Your family makes me wanna puke!

310. That's...

311. What the heck?

312. They get on my nerves,

313. but I also feel like I'm being left behind.

314. I dunno know why I'm so pissed.

315. Maybe it's because that atmosphere doesn't fit me.

316. Something there felt uncomfortable.

317. Uotani...

318. Akimoto-sempai.

319. Did you get to meet the Butterfly's daughter?

320. Eh... I don't care anymore. It's a pain to go to school anyway.

321. It's not worth going.

322. Got that right.

323. The atmosphere I fit into...

324. Who do you think you are, bitch? Wanna die?

325. I'll give you some scars that won't fade!

326. is this one.

327. My mom called the freakin' cops on me.

328. I swear I'm gonna kill her someday.

329. My old man told me to never come back.

330. He says that every day.

331. —It's like, "You're the stupid losers who gave birth to us!"

332. My kind of place is one where I can fall to rock bottom.

333. Nowhere else to go today.

334. I guess I'll go home for once.

335. It's just your dad at home, right?

336. Smother him in his sleep.

337. Go snitch some cash!

338. My mom left with another guy when I was in 1st grade.

339. I've been living with just my dad since then.

340. Starting from that side, tell us special ways you eat snacks.

341. Well, I don't know if it's a special way,

342. but I like to wrap rice crackers in ham.

343. —Rice crackers with ham? —All he does is drink.

344. —So that's why you're fat. —All he does is drink.

345. I'm not fat.

346. —Of course you are. —I'm used to it, though.

347. He's not fat, he's just a growing boy.

348. Yeah, right!

349. I recommend adding cheese to that—

350. You get used to it

351. whether you like it or not.

352. I just relaxed a bit,

353. that's all.

354. Hey, you!

355. What, that's all you got?

356. Was it weird?

357. Well, it's wasn't weird...

358. Just lacking in words.

359. Let me try.

360. What the hell are you lookin' at? You wanna go at it?

361. Now you've done it! I'll **** your ♪ so **** and even ****!

362. What's more, I'll **** make sure ****--

363. Wh-Whoa, hang on a sec!

364. Isn't that a little much?

365. It's improper for a girl to say such things.

366. Don't get all shocked on me, loser.

367. What'd you say?

368. You wanna piece of me?

369. —What? —That's it.

370. Huh?

371. What you just said was good.

372. You wanna piece of me?

373. Sweet. Let's scare some rando with that.

374. Someone's coming.

375. Ready, go!

376. You wanna piece—

377. A-A foreigner!

378. Wh-Wh-What should we do, Ishicchi?

379. D-D-Don't be wimps!

380. L-L-Let's fight!

381. —She went for it! —Nice, Ishi-chan!

382. Was meinst du? Sich gestritten?

383. Wir holen uns jetzt Hamburgers.

384. Habt ihr Lust mitzu kommen?

385. Sie sind ganz lec ker. Kommt schon!

386. I-I'll be back!

387. Hm?

388. "This Is for Uo-chan!"

389. This is for Uo-chan!
