5. Anybody you need you can have.Copy !req
6. - His name's Walter Bishop.
- My father.Copy !req
7. He worked out of Harvard. He was part...Copy !req
8. of a classified U.S. Army experimental
program. In an area called fringe science.Copy !req
9. You're telling me my
father was Dr. Frankenstein.Copy !req
10. So much happened here.
So much is about to.Copy !req
11. Captain
Loeb, what's your 20?Copy !req
12. We're in tow, 200 meters out.Copy !req
13. - What's your ETA?
- We're in position. Standing by.Copy !req
14. - No activity, captain.
- Roger. Hold position. Charlie.Copy !req
15. In position. Standing by.Copy !req
16. - Delta.
- Standing by, captain. In position.Copy !req
17. Roger.Copy !req
18. Cutting engines. At south bank now.Copy !req
19. Go, go, go.Copy !req
20. - South bank quiet. Bravo, status?
- All quiet, sir.Copy !req
21. Wait, I think I hear something.Copy !req
22. We have tango in sight.Copy !req
23. All teams move out. Go, go, go.Copy !req
24. Stop the truck.
Stay where you are.Copy !req
25. Out. Out. Get out.
Hands where I can see them.Copy !req
26. Panda bears? I assume
you checked inside them.Copy !req
27. They knew we were coming.
Somewhere they made a switch.Copy !req
28. Joseph Smith. Began working
for the shipping company...Copy !req
29. a week before the container
was packed. He had access.Copy !req
30. He's also got a science
background. Customs has him...Copy !req

eight times in the past 12 months.Copy !req
32. - Are the local agents on the operation?
- Coscarelli and Scrimm. Page 47.Copy !req
33. Weight of the container
after pickup was 1306 pounds.Copy !req
34. The weight when it arrived in
Germany before shipping, 1299.Copy !req
35. That's 7 pounds. What
the hell weighs 7 pounds?Copy !req
36. Mitchell?Copy !req
37. - Let's get a medic in here.
- Is he okay?Copy !req
38. What'd you give him?Copy !req
39. One epi. Cardiac
arrest. I've never seen this.Copy !req
40. Pupils fixed one minute,
dilating the next.Copy !req
41. - How's the rhythm now?
- Asystole.Copy !req
42. Charge the paddles, we'll start at 200.Copy !req
43. - Phillip, what's happening?
- We don't know.Copy !req
44. Is he gonna be okay?
Is it a heart attack?Copy !req
45. The only thing for us to do is wait.Copy !req
46. Clear.Copy !req
47. - All right, again.
Go to 300. - V-fib.Copy !req
48. Clear.Copy !req
49. We gotta open him up, pump
the heart manually. Prep him.Copy !req
50. Scalpel.Copy !req
51. Saw.Copy !req
52. Retractor.Copy !req
53. - We've got something.
- His heart's beating.Copy !req
54. What is that?Copy !req
55. I don't know.Copy !req
56. It happened in
my office two hours ago.Copy !req
57. It wasn't a heart attack. At
least not in the traditional sense.Copy !req
58. They cordoned off the area.Copy !req
59. But ID's been here already, said
the thing isn't communicable.Copy !req
60. - The "thing"?
- We'll get to that.Copy !req
61. - Do you have any gum?
- No, Walter.Copy !req
62. - Mints?
- No, later.Copy !req
63. Agent Loeb returned from an
operation last week in Frankfurt.Copy !req
64. - Do you know him at all?
- No.Copy !req
65. He collapsed. Thought it was a seizure at
first except he appeared lucid, in pain.Copy !req
66. Didn't seem like a heart attack either.Copy !req
67. None of us knew what it was.
And none of us know now either.Copy !req
68. - How are his vital signs?
- Weakening.Copy !req
69. Dr. Bishop.Copy !req
70. What you're about to see...Copy !req
71. I don't know if you've seen
anything like it before.Copy !req
72. But I'm hoping you have.
I'm hoping you can help.Copy !req
73. The man lying in that room
is not just a colleague.Copy !req
74. - He's a friend.
- I see.Copy !req
75. Do you have any mints?Copy !req
76. - This is spectacular.
- Spectacular.Copy !req
77. I'm sure he'd be just thrilled
to hear your diagnosis.Copy !req
78. Do you know what that is?
Your work, old experiments.Copy !req
79. - Does that look... ?
- Familiar? No.Copy !req
80. It couldn't be more aberrational.Copy !req
81. I'm simply admiring the design.Copy !req
82. It's at least partially organic.Copy !req
83. Most likely a hybrid result
of genetic manipulation.Copy !req
84. Symmetrical. Its central body mass...
If indeed it is an organism at all.Copy !req
85. is designed, it seems, to
envelop the entire human heart.Copy !req
86. Look, look. A series of tendrils.
A root system. Don't you see it?Copy !req
87. - How beautiful this is.
- Not so much, no.Copy !req
88. Can you help? Do you
think you can remove it?Copy !req
89. Oh, I'd be willing to try. But
not here. My breath is atrocious.Copy !req
90. I was deconstructing in my head...Copy !req
91. the approach to
designing something like this.Copy !req
92. Two things occurred to me on
the journey from the hospital.Copy !req
93. One, we could be dealing with something
as simple as, uh, Giardia duodenalis.Copy !req
94. - As simple as that, really?
- Single-celled parasite...Copy !req
95. lives in intestines of
animals. Common waterborne illness.Copy !req
96. Could we attach Mr... ?Copy !req
97. - Loeb.
- Loeb to the vitals machine, please.Copy !req
98. So you're saying that
that thing in his chest...Copy !req
99. Is a parasite? Yes. Yes, perhaps.Copy !req
100. But with an exceptional
means of attachment.Copy !req
101. Typically parasites use
whole-body insertion.Copy !req
102. This creature is unlike
anything I've seen before.Copy !req
103. So we won't be able to truly
examine it until it's removed.Copy !req
104. - Loeb's recent case files, as requested.
- Oh, thanks, Astrid.Copy !req
105. And his wife just arrived.
She asked to speak with you.Copy !req
106. - I'm gonna talk to her in the office.
- Okay, he's wired.Copy !req
107. - What was the other thing?
- Pardon?Copy !req
108. You said that two things occurred
to you. What's the other one?Copy !req
109. Oh, oh.Copy !req
110. I would still really like
some gum or some mints.Copy !req
111. Thank you, Peter.Copy !req
112. Mrs. Loeb.Copy !req
113. Olivia Dunham. I'm
with Homeland Security.Copy !req
114. Samantha. I'm hoping you can help
me. No one will tell me anything.Copy !req
115. Why was he transferred here?
Can you at least tell me that?Copy !req
116. I can tell you that
there's a doctor here...Copy !req
117. who is uniquely qualified...Copy !req
118. to save your husband's life.Copy !req
119. This was in his bag.Copy !req
120. Among the things he
brought back from Frankfurt.Copy !req
121. - I don't know if it'll help at all.
- It might.Copy !req
122. We'll check it out. Thank you.Copy !req
123. Can I see Mitchell, please?Copy !req
124. As soon as possible. I promise you that.Copy !req
125. Uh-oh.Copy !req
126. - What's happening?
- It's killing him.Copy !req
127. Squeezing his heart. It's killing him.Copy !req
128. - What are you doing?
- I'm gonna give him Cyclobenzaprine.Copy !req
129. If the parasite is constricting,
this might loosen its grip.Copy !req
130. It's a gamble, but I like
the theory. Look at this.Copy !req
131. Oh, this is good.Copy !req
132. Organism's tissue.Copy !req
133. - Where the hell are you going?
- DNA analysis should tell us much.Copy !req
134. Excellent work, son. You may have
found your true calling at last.Copy !req
135. - Working with me.
- I certainly hope not.Copy !req
136. Please tell me you guys
have some good news.Copy !req
137. I don't know if it's good
news, but it's something.Copy !req
138. This is fascinating.Copy !req
139. - What?
- We can assume that this, uh, growth...Copy !req
140. - ... this parasite is of human design, yes?
- Okay.Copy !req
141. I was looking for repetition.
The signature of the creator.Copy !req
142. A sign, a footprint that he or
she had been there before us.Copy !req
143. - I don't understand.
- Well, you're the same...Copy !req
144. as the rest of humanity. What
he's trying to say is we found this.Copy !req
145. Ah. See, that.Copy !req
146. This pattern repeats
throughout the DNA sequence.Copy !req
147. It appears again and again.Copy !req
148. But it's too organized to be
accidental, too perfect to be natural.Copy !req
149. So you're saying that someone put
in this line of DNA on purpose.Copy !req
150. - Why?
- Mischief, arrogance. We don't know.Copy !req
151. Your friend thinks it might be a code.Copy !req
152. The other one.Copy !req
153. I studied cryptology even
before I joined the bureau.Copy !req
154. I was obsessed as a kid.Copy !req
155. Now, I keep assuming it can't
be this, that it's too simple...Copy !req
156. to be plain text, but I think
it may just be the Caesar Shift.Copy !req
157. - What's that?
- It's a simple monoalphabetic cipher.Copy !req
158. Is it, now?Copy !req
159. It's what Julius Caesar used, apparently,
to send letters to his friends.Copy !req
160. You take one letter and replace it
with another, but in alphabetical order.Copy !req
161. There's a sequence of three
letters that appears repeatedly...Copy !req
162. in the parasite's DNA.
It could be CIW or DJX...Copy !req
163. - ... or EKY.
- Or ZFT.Copy !req
164. Yeah, ZFT fits, what is that?Copy !req
165. I've been reviewing
John Scott's cases...Copy !req
166. checking to see if any
of them were mishandled...Copy !req
167. or seeing if any of the
cases were left unsolved.Copy !req
168. - And?
- And one of them that I remember...Copy !req
169. was an operation tracking
a group working out of Budapest.Copy !req
170. The name on the file,
what was written was ZFT.Copy !req
171. That means something to you? What?Copy !req
172. A month ago, a man, a British
national named David Robert Jones...Copy !req
173. was arrested in Frankfurt, Germany,
by Interpol in possession of state secrets.Copy !req
174. His background is indeed
biotechnology, notably genetic weaponry.Copy !req
175. A senior fellow at the Bremming Institute
for 12 years, then went off the grid.Copy !req
176. He'd show up now and then,
often in Eastern Europe.Copy !req
177. - So you think he's ZFT.
- I don't know. But Loeb did.Copy !req
178. It was one of the reasons he was
in Frankfurt. Investigating Jones.Copy !req
179. - Meaning that thing...
- May be retribution.Copy !req
180. So ZFT, what is it? Who are they?Copy !req
181. There is much you have not been
made aware of regarding the Pattern.Copy !req
182. Well, I'm here, I have time.Copy !req
183. Are you available?Copy !req
184. What we've learned so
far is the following.Copy !req
185. There are cells. We don't know
how many. Privately funded...Copy !req
186. with presence in 83 recorded
countries. ZFT is among them.Copy !req
187. - Terrorists.
- Not in a conventional sense.Copy !req
188. They traffic not in drugs or
weapons, but in scientific progress.Copy !req
189. - Meaning what?
- Meaning what happened on Flight 627...Copy !req
190. or what happened to Agent Loeb...Copy !req
191. these may have been simply proof...Copy !req
192. that a scientific
theory, an experiment, worked.Copy !req
193. So that thing we found in Loeb
could be one of those experiments.Copy !req
194. Do you think Jones will
tell us how to remove it?Copy !req
195. He might. If we were allowed to see him.Copy !req
196. German authorities refused us access.Copy !req
197. - What?
- They're not giving the U.S. access.Copy !req
198. - And he's being kept in Frankfurt.
- Yeah.Copy !req
199. - I may be able to get in.
- You got superpowers...Copy !req
200. - ... you aren't telling me about?
- Maybe.Copy !req
201. - You're not really going to Germany.
- Yeah, I'm really going.Copy !req
202. Let me save you the trip.
You're not getting in.Copy !req
203. We don't know each other well enough
for you to say something like that to me.Copy !req
204. And I don't see any other
option here. Do you, sir?Copy !req
205. Loeb's your friend.Copy !req
206. And I promised his wife.Copy !req
207. - What's wrong?
- This may be...Copy !req
208. something of an understatement,
but he is not doing well.Copy !req
209. Dehydrated.Copy !req
210. Walter, come here.Copy !req
211. What is that?Copy !req
212. That's the root.Copy !req
213. - Coming up from his arm.
- Into the IV, yes.Copy !req
214. This parasite is spreading
faster than I thought.Copy !req
215. - How long do you think he's got?
- A day, maybe.Copy !req
216. - Hey.
- Hi.Copy !req
217. So the good news is I
think we have a lead.Copy !req
218. Bad news is I have to
go to Germany to see him.Copy !req
219. I don't think that's the bad. He's
dying. I don't think we're gonna make it.Copy !req
220. We're gonna make it.
I'll call you when I land.Copy !req
221. - Look at you.
- Well, don't let the suit throw you.Copy !req
222. Wow, Lucas, I never
thought I'd see the day.Copy !req
223. It's more comfortable
than the military uniform.Copy !req
224. - Hi.
- Hi. Sorry.Copy !req
225. - I'm not sure I can help you.
- You have contacts at the prison.Copy !req
226. I'm in the Bundestag, I
have contacts everywhere.Copy !req
227. You jumped on a plane so fast I
didn't have time to check anything out.Copy !req
228. - Well, what did you find?
- I know the warden.Copy !req
229. He wouldn't agree to anything.
He didn't want me to show up.Copy !req
230. So, what do we do?Copy !req
231. We show up.Copy !req
232. Tenacious as always.
What can I do for you, Lucas?Copy !req
233. - Olivia Dunham, this is Johan Lennox.
- Thank you for seeing us.Copy !req
234. - You want time with a prisoner?
- David Robert Jones.Copy !req
235. - This will be a problem.
- I'm sure we can work something out.Copy !req
236. I'm sorry.Copy !req
237. Your friend
wants to be persuasive.Copy !req
238. Mr. Lennox, you have reasons
why you won't allow access...Copy !req
239. to your prisoners. But
this is very important to me.Copy !req
240. I would be willing to sign anything.Copy !req
241. I like her.Copy !req
242. You have good taste.Copy !req
243. Even if I were to give the okay...Copy !req
244. Mr. Jones talks to no one.Copy !req
245. Well, I have reason
to believe he will talk to me.Copy !req
246. If I write him a message,
will you give it to him?Copy !req
247. I don't expect miracles.Copy !req
248. I don't know if I expect anything.Copy !req
249. But I am grateful for whatever
you can do in this case.Copy !req
250. - Sorry?
- I was just saying...Copy !req
251. - ... I'm grateful for your work.
- You're most welcome.Copy !req
252. You know, I had a fruit
cocktail once in Atlantic City.Copy !req
253. Mind you, I'm not the
fruit-cocktail sort of guy.Copy !req
254. Excuse me.Copy !req
255. We need to discuss your father.Copy !req
256. - Is it the fruit-cocktail
thing? - Mm-hm.Copy !req
257. Yeah, he's been doing that recently.Copy !req
258. He's obsessed about
certain foods. It's weird.Copy !req
259. - We need him to focus.
- To focus? Mr. Broyles...Copy !req
260. two-thirds of the time my father's
not even lucid. And in those rare...Copy !req
261. unpredictable moments of clarity,
he rambles about food he missed...Copy !req
262. while incarcerated in a
mental institution for two decades.Copy !req
263. To say that he's not focused
is to say that he's a biped.Copy !req
264. Which is to say, you're
absolutely right, he's not focused.Copy !req
265. And also, it's not going
to change any time too soon.Copy !req
266. I'm his son, not a puppeteer.
Don't have a remote control.Copy !req
267. No master switch I can flick and turn
him into the man I wish raised me...Copy !req
268. or even somebody I don't
have to babysit every day.Copy !req
269. I've had that on my mind for a while.Copy !req
270. Apparently.Copy !req
271. - Broyles.
- It's Charlie Francis.Copy !req
272. I understand I'm not at clearance
level, but I have something for you.Copy !req
273. - What is it?
- A local connection to the ZFT.Copy !req
274. - Speak to me.
- We analyzed the document...Copy !req
275. Loeb brought back from Frankfurt.Copy !req
276. We figured out each line
corresponds to an FBI case file.Copy !req
277. And an ID number for the agent
or agents assigned to it...Copy !req
278. every one of them originating
from this field office.Copy !req
279. Another mole in this office?Copy !req
280. You think what? John Scott,
he was working with ZFT?Copy !req
281. Maybe, maybe not.Copy !req
282. Whoever did this needed
upper-level security clearance.Copy !req
283. Access to the FBI mainframe.Copy !req
284. - You said local connection.
- Yeah.Copy !req
285. One of the lines is a phone number
registered to a Joseph Smith.Copy !req
286. - And we have him tied...
- Yeah, I know Joseph Smith.Copy !req
287. Loeb was briefing me on
him when he collapsed.Copy !req
288. - You got an address?
- Hold on.Copy !req
289. - 4331 Broad Street, Saugus.
- 4331 Broad Street. I'll call you back.Copy !req
290. This is Broyles. I want a SWAT
team surrounding Joseph Smith.Copy !req
291. He's at 4331 Broad Street in Saugus.Copy !req
292. And I want this radio-silent.Copy !req
293. It's good to see you again.
Despite the strange circumstance.Copy !req
294. You don't have to wait with me.Copy !req
295. As you keep telling me.Copy !req
296. I want to.Copy !req
297. I like it here.Copy !req
298. Thank you.Copy !req
299. I'm surprised. He'll see you.
But not until tomorrow morning.Copy !req
300. This is not Jones' rule. Or
mine. This is the institution's.Copy !req
301. Long before I got here, there have been
strict regulations regarding visitors.Copy !req
302. Tomorrow morning, you'll have
14 minutes, not a second more.Copy !req
303. Mr. Jones wanted you to have this.Copy !req
304. - Hello?
- Peter, it's me.Copy !req
305. - I'm looking for Broyles. Is he there?
- No, he's on some raid.Copy !req
306. Jones has agreed to meet me tomorrow.Copy !req
307. But only on the condition that
he first talks to a colleague.Copy !req
308. So we're looking for a guy
local to Boston. He's in Saugus.Copy !req
309. - He's in what?
- His name's Joseph Smith.Copy !req
310. At 4331 Broad Street.Copy !req
311. - How'd you know that?
- That's who Broyles is after right now.Copy !req
312. - What? How?
- I don't know.Copy !req
313. Peter, we need him alive.Copy !req
314. - Hey.
- Are you there?Copy !req
315. No. I'm on my way. You get
in touch with Broyles yet?Copy !req
316. No, they're still radio-silent. I'm
gonna call HQ. I'll call you back.Copy !req
317. I know they're radio-silent,
but get someone down there now.Copy !req
318. You need to get the message to them
they need to keep Joseph Smith alive.Copy !req
319. Goddamn it.Copy !req
320. - Hey.
- You must stay back.Copy !req
321. - I need to talk to Broyles.
- This is a police action.Copy !req
322. You're not authorized to
get any closer to the house.Copy !req
323. - Are you close?
- I'm here, but I can't get to the house.Copy !req
324. They're already inside.Copy !req
325. On the roof, on
the roof. Freeze, FBI.Copy !req
326. - Oh, no.
- What? Peter.Copy !req
327. - Oh, God.
- Freeze, FBI.Copy !req
328. - Oh, no, no.
- Stop or we'll shoot.Copy !req
329. - Oh, no, no.
- Drop your weapon.Copy !req
330. No, no, no!Copy !req
331. Peter?Copy !req
332. Peter.Copy !req
333. Have Evidence
Response catalog and box...Copy !req
334. every item down to the toilet paper.Copy !req
335. Bishop, what are you doing here?Copy !req
336. I just got off the phone with Olivia.
She's headed back to the airport.Copy !req
337. It turns out Mr. Jones would only
help us if he could talk to Mr. Smith.Copy !req
338. The same Mr. Smith that
your people just killed.Copy !req
339. - You're kidding me.
- The first serious thing I've said all day.Copy !req
340. - Hello.
- Peter. Hey, it's Astrid.Copy !req
341. Your father wanted to inform you there's
fluid accumulating in Loeb's lungs.Copy !req
342. - Tell him we need help quickly.
- He says we need help quickly.Copy !req
343. Insert this into his
IV. Let me talk to him.Copy !req
344. Hello. Peter, this is me,
your father. Walter Bishop.Copy !req
345. - Thank you, Walter, I know who you are.
- Excellent.Copy !req
346. We need to talk to that
man Smith right away.Copy !req
347. He may be our best chance
to save Agent Loeb's life.Copy !req
348. I know that, but he's dead.
He was shot. We're out of luck.Copy !req
349. Does he still have his head? Is
it still attached to his body?Copy !req
350. Only you would ask that question
seriously. Yes, he has a head.Copy !req
351. Splendid. Then perhaps in this case
death is simply an inconvenience.Copy !req
352. Bring him in. And hurry. Agent Loeb's
tissue is already deteriorating...Copy !req
353. which makes it
exponentially messier.Copy !req
354. What?Copy !req
355. - So close.
- You never did lose well.Copy !req
356. What happened, Olivia?Copy !req
357. There is something
that has shifted in you.Copy !req
358. - Something's happened.
- Well, a lot's happened.Copy !req
359. You know, it's been a strange time.Copy !req
360. I wasn't going to say these words.
But here we are, so I'm gonna say them.Copy !req
361. I've become, and I'm not
kidding, a spectacular cook.Copy !req
362. Spend the night.Copy !req
363. - I can't, Lucas.
- Of course you can.Copy !req
364. Of course you can.Copy !req
365. - Dunham.
- Does Jones know about Smith?Copy !req
366. - What?
- Does David Jones know...Copy !req
367. - ... that Joseph Smith is dead?
- No, why?Copy !req
368. If you can still get in to see
him tomorrow, he may not have to.Copy !req
369. Oh, good. Bring
him down here, son, quickly.Copy !req
370. - Get me ice.
- You asked.Copy !req
371. - The halo head brace.
- It's over there.Copy !req
372. - Good.
- We got it from here.Copy !req
373. - Did I ask... ?
- To put salt water in the trough? Yes.Copy !req
374. Ninety kilograms. Not a drop more.Copy !req
375. - He's been shot in the head.
- Is that a problem?Copy !req
376. Yes, that's a problem.
Of course it's a problem.Copy !req
377. A bullet in the head would normally
indicate significant brain trauma.Copy !req
378. It'd also indicate he's dead. You
didn't have a problem with that.Copy !req
379. This isn't like removing tonsils.Copy !req
380. I never had a conversation
with a dead guy.Copy !req
381. - Forgive me if I don't know the rules.
- Is this going to work or not?Copy !req
382. I'll need to alter the procedure.
And I'm not making any promises.Copy !req
383. - Eighty-six degrees, Dr.
Bishop. - Good. Almost there.Copy !req
384. Let me know when it's exactly 84.5 blue.Copy !req
385. The human brain is
like a computer. Green.Copy !req
386. It just needs electricity to function...Copy !req
387. which the body ceases
to produce upon death.Copy !req
388. Which is why we're
keeping his body cold.Copy !req
389. To retard degeneration.Copy !req
390. It's astonishing how this
man's scalp resembles...Copy !req
391. Peter's bare bottom when he was a baby.Copy !req
392. - How did you know that?
- You told us that already. Twice.Copy !req
393. Oh.Copy !req
394. - What did I say next? - That
we're gonna kick-start his brain.Copy !req
395. Ah, yes. Excellent.Copy !req
396. Conductive gel to prevent the electrical
current from setting him on fire.Copy !req
397. Spread it evenly and
don't forget his nipples.Copy !req
398. Oh, Peter.Copy !req
399. In '75, the FBI asked
me to use this procedure.Copy !req
400. Someone had been murdered.Copy !req
401. I don't... I don't recall his name.Copy !req
402. James, I believe. Or Jimmy. They
wanted to identify his assassin.Copy !req
403. Union leader, I think.Copy !req
404. - Jimmy Hoffa?
- Yes.Copy !req
405. Yeah. The trouble was he had a
shockingly low electro-sensitivity.Copy !req
406. When I turned on the machine, it
instantly fried his brain like an egg.Copy !req
407. Everyone has a unique tolerance
to electrical stimulation.Copy !req
408. Mine, for instance, is remarkably
high. Yours, Peter, unusually low.Copy !req
409. As for our friend here, we don't know.Copy !req
410. Too little current and it won't work,
too much and we will overcook his brain.Copy !req
411. - So I will have to...
- You used to do this to me.Copy !req
412. You'd attach wires to car batteries
and then you would shock me.Copy !req
413. - Yes, I was accumulating data.
- No, you were experimenting on me.Copy !req
414. Son, we're ready.Copy !req
415. First we must test if this will
register any brain activity.Copy !req
416. And this will indicate if he's
transmitting any thoughts to you.Copy !req
417. Since he's dead, Peter, you'll
obviously have to be his ears and mouth.Copy !req
418. Eventually we'll connect
this to your head.Copy !req
419. Okay, dear, we're ready. Turn it on.Copy !req
420. Try 200 microvolts.Copy !req
421. Oh, look, Peter, he's talking to you.Copy !req
422. Whoa!Copy !req
423. I suppose it's a good thing it
wasn't attached to your head.Copy !req
424. Ha-ha. I don't believe you.Copy !req
425. I'm not kidding, looked into it.Copy !req
426. - You have not.
- I have.Copy !req
427. - So...
- Mm?Copy !req
428. who was he?Copy !req
429. Whoever it was who broke your
heart. Or am I misreading you?Copy !req
430. He was my partner from the bureau.Copy !req
431. And you of all people should know I've
always been a little inept at this.Copy !req
432. But he was straightforward, decisive...Copy !req
433. charming. And it was wonderful.Copy !req
434. Except it was all a lie.Copy !req
435. And he betrayed me. Betrayed the job.Copy !req
436. Then he died.Copy !req
437. That's the end.Copy !req
438. That's the end for him.Copy !req
439. I've known this for years.Copy !req
440. I screwed up with you.Copy !req
441. - The timing wasn't right for either of us.
- Yes, it was. I know it was.Copy !req
442. But I was scared. And that's
the God's honest truth.Copy !req
443. I think about you so often.Copy !req
444. And I don't call.Copy !req
445. Because... Because I'm
ashamed of how I treated you.Copy !req
446. No, it was just...Copy !req
447. Lucas, I...Copy !req
448. - I have to... I have to get this.
- I hate whoever that is.Copy !req
449. - Hello.
- You're not gonna believe this.Copy !req
450. Because I'm not sure that I do,
but this might actually work.Copy !req
451. Walter figured it out?Copy !req
452. Well, there are limits.
Some issues and problems.Copy !req
453. But Walter seems to think we can
get the dead guy to answer questions.Copy !req
454. Then we're on. I'll call you from
the prison, 8 a.m. tomorrow, my time.Copy !req
455. You okay?Copy !req
456. I'm good. Thank you.Copy !req
457. I'm gonna go back to the hotel. Ha.Copy !req
458. Grateful to you, to the
incredible cooking...Copy !req
459. and your sweet words.Copy !req
460. Do you hear anything?Copy !req
461. I think we gotta ask
him a question first.Copy !req
462. I see.Copy !req
463. Are we ready to see how this is working?Copy !req
464. When I say go, you, Astro,
will ask Peter a question...Copy !req
465. I will flip this switch, which will
stimulate our naked friend's brain...Copy !req
466. and Peter, you will hear
his response. Any questions?Copy !req
467. - Yeah. What should I ask?
- Anything you like, it's only a dry run.Copy !req
468. And, son, I should apologize
in advance. I'm afraid this...Copy !req
469. - Well, I shouldn't frighten you.
- No, wouldn't want to do that.Copy !req
470. Three, two, one, go.Copy !req
471. What's your favorite
flavor of ice cream?Copy !req
472. - Anything?
- Did I hear anything? No.Copy !req
473. - Three, two, one, go.
- What's your favorite color?Copy !req
474. No, still nothing.
Just extreme discomfort.Copy !req
475. - Hello.
- They're taking me to see Jones now.Copy !req
476. - Olivia. They're taking her.
- We're not ready.Copy !req
477. - No. Tell her to stall.
- Did you hear that?Copy !req
478. I'll do what I can, but I've
only got 14 minutes, starting now.Copy !req
479. Fourteen minutes.Copy !req
480. What a pleasure this is.Copy !req
481. We have your Mr. Smith in custody.
You will not speak with him directly.Copy !req
482. You will ask me one question
that you want answered.Copy !req
483. I will relay that question
to an agent in the States...Copy !req
484. who will talk to Mr. Smith. I will
then relay Mr. Smith's response to you.Copy !req
485. Then you will tell me how to save
Agent Loeb. That is how it works.Copy !req
486. You're very serious. Do you know that?Copy !req
487. Your friend's life hangs
in the balance. Is that it?Copy !req
488. And you want me to save him. I
gather as much from your note.Copy !req
489. Tell me something.Copy !req
490. Why not your freedom or extradition?Copy !req
491. You must realize that
you have leverage here.Copy !req
492. Yet all you want is the
answer to one question.Copy !req
493. You make two assumptions, Ms. Dunham.Copy !req
494. Both incorrect.Copy !req
495. The first is that there is nothing
more valuable than my freedom.Copy !req
496. The second is that I am responsible...Copy !req
497. for the infection of Agent Loeb.Copy !req
498. Hello, Gene.Copy !req
499. Shh. Not a word. I think
I know your problem.Copy !req
500. You think too much. It's a family
curse. Your own brain function...Copy !req
501. is interfering with the process.
You need to be a passive receiver.Copy !req
502. This is a sedative. It will
numb your higher brain function.Copy !req
503. I've mixed it with a
euphoria inhibitor...Copy !req
504. which will clear the high from
your system in a matter of minutes.Copy !req
505. If I tell you to, stick this in his
chest right here, beneath the breast bone.Copy !req
506. - Whoa, whoa, whoa. What is that?
- Adrenaline.Copy !req
507. Why, Walter? Are you
planning on stopping my heart?Copy !req
508. Walter, what are you giving me?Copy !req
509. Nothing for you to worry
about. Perfectly harmless.Copy !req
510. - What is going on in here?
- Mitchell.Copy !req
511. If you're not responsible for
infecting Agent Loeb, who is?Copy !req
512. Perhaps the same people responsible
for bringing us together.Copy !req
513. What if someone wanted
information from the both of us?Copy !req
514. Do you see? Perhaps they've
orchestrated all of this.Copy !req
515. What if you and I, both of
us, at this very moment...Copy !req
516. were being manipulated?Copy !req
517. By who? And what would they want?Copy !req
518. You've not been doing
this very long, have you?Copy !req
519. There are very few things in life
that surprise me anymore, Ms. Dunham.Copy !req
520. And yet, I confess, I am confused.Copy !req
521. If it is so urgent to save
the life of your friend...Copy !req
522. why haven't we gotten on with it?Copy !req
523. - Peter. Peter, can you hear me?
- This can't possibly be scientific.Copy !req
524. Peter, look at me.Copy !req
525. Daddy?Copy !req
526. I think we're ready.Copy !req
527. - Hello.
- Go, quick.Copy !req
528. Go ahead. Ask your question.Copy !req
529. Ask my friend Joe:Copy !req
530. "Where does the gentleman live?"Copy !req
531. Mr. Jones would like to know,
"Where does the gentleman live?"Copy !req
532. Three.Copy !req
533. - Mitchell. Oh, God, what is it?
- Parasite in his bloodstream...Copy !req
534. choking his oxygen.
Asteroid, nitroglycerine. A vial.Copy !req
535. I don't understand.Copy !req
536. Could you give
us some room, please?Copy !req
537. I'll call you back.Copy !req
538. Come on, Sam,
let them do their job.Copy !req
539. Is there a problem?Copy !req
540. My phone doesn't get the best
reception in prison isolation cells.Copy !req
541. You do have Mr. Smith, do you not?Copy !req
542. I'm curious...Copy !req
543. why you think he would cooperate
with you after you had him arrested.Copy !req
544. Oh. The people I work
with are loyal to the end.Copy !req
545. Can you say the same?Copy !req
546. - Hello.
- Okay, we're trying again.Copy !req
547. - Three, two, one, go.
- Where does the gentleman live?Copy !req
548. - Do you hear anything?
- No, no.Copy !req
549. I'm going to have
to increase the voltage.Copy !req
550. I'm sorry, son. Three, two, one, go.Copy !req
551. Where does the gentleman live?Copy !req
552. Uh-uh. Nothing. No.Copy !req
553. Astrid,
I need the answer now.Copy !req
554. Agent Dunham, it's not working.Copy !req
555. I need paper. Paper. Give me
some paper quick. I see something.Copy !req
556. - Wait, hold on.
- Untie my hand. Quickly.Copy !req
557. What is that?Copy !req
558. I have no idea.Copy !req
559. I need the answer now.Copy !req
560. Don't have it. Don't think it's working.Copy !req
561. - Walter, what is this?
- How do I know? You saw it, not me.Copy !req
562. He seems rather irritated with you.Copy !req
563. - Astrid, please, I have no time.
- I know. You have to hold on. I'm sorry.Copy !req
564. Walter, what is it? Do you see it? It's
there, there's just something missing.Copy !req
565. Obviously horizontal lines.
There's literature on this.Copy !req
566. Misrepresentation of horizontal
spacing, unilateral brain damage.Copy !req
567. Astrid, please hurry.Copy !req
568. - I don't understand.
- It's conjecture. But the bullet...Copy !req
569. may have destroyed that part of the
brain that helps process horizontal lines.Copy !req
570. We are going to have
to fill in the blanks.Copy !req
571. God. Astrid, I have no time. I
need the answer now. Astrid, please.Copy !req
572. - Little Hill.
- Little Hill.Copy !req
573. Little Hill.Copy !req
574. Three parts Mebendazole, two
parts thermophilic hydrolase.Copy !req
575. A syringe directly into the parasite.Copy !req
576. Astrid, write this down.Copy !req
577. Three parts Mebendazole, two
parts thermophilic hydrolase.Copy !req
578. A syringe directly into the parasite.Copy !req
579. Walter, look.
The roots, they're dying.Copy !req
580. What does that mean?Copy !req
581. Is Mitchell gonna live?
Is he gonna be okay?Copy !req
582. Yes, my dear. I believe he will.Copy !req
583. Thank you, Dr. Bishop.Copy !req
584. Jones asked me a question about loyalty.Copy !req
585. And something about the way he said
it, it felt like he knew something.Copy !req
586. Like what?Copy !req
587. Something about my partner
betraying the bureau.Copy !req
588. I don't know.Copy !req
589. You know, I have other means of
gathering information about Mr. Jones.Copy !req
590. If you'd like me to use them.Copy !req
591. Say yes, Olivia.Copy !req
592. It'll give me an excuse
to call you again.Copy !req
593. Mitchell, I understand that you're
feeling far from 100 percent.Copy !req
594. But while you were unconscious,
we made a discovery.Copy !req
595. An organization with
connections to the Pattern...Copy !req
596. may have someone working
with us on the inside.Copy !req
597. - John Scott?
- That was our first thought.Copy !req
598. But he would have needed higher
clearance than Scott was afforded.Copy !req
599. We thought that perhaps
you were targeted...Copy !req
600. because you might have
discovered who that person was.Copy !req
601. Scott's the only one I know of.Copy !req
602. You're making me paranoid.Copy !req
603. All I wanna do is make you better.Copy !req
604. I'll see you in the morning.Copy !req
605. All right.Copy !req
606. Hey, Sam.Copy !req
607. - Hey, you.
- Hey.Copy !req
608. Sir.Copy !req
609. - How is he?
- He's good.Copy !req
610. The doctor here removed
that thing from his chest.Copy !req
611. - Walter made sure he saved it for him.
- I bet he did.Copy !req
612. But what about answers?Copy !req
613. The question Jones asked Smith.Copy !req
614. And the response he got. Little Hill?Copy !req
615. We know Agent Loeb was
infected, but don't know by whom.Copy !req
616. Jones says it wasn't him.
We don't know anything.Copy !req
617. You have a problem, Agent Dunham.Copy !req
618. You're not easily satisfied.Copy !req
619. You want everything and you want it now.Copy !req
620. In your mind, somehow, a
small victory is no victory.Copy !req
621. What you did was save a man's
life. That doesn't land for you.Copy !req
622. - No, sir...
- I'd tell you to snap the hell out of it.Copy !req
623. Stop whining about what you can't
know, can't control, can't change.Copy !req
624. I'd tell you to get sleep while you can.Copy !req
625. Because tomorrow we'll do this
all over again. And guess what.Copy !req
626. You'll have a million new answers
and a million and one new questions.Copy !req
627. I would tell you those
things, but I won't.Copy !req
628. Because your dissatisfaction
is what makes you so damn good.Copy !req
629. Someone I'm proud to say I work with.Copy !req
630. Thank you.Copy !req
631. Now, go get some sleep while you can.Copy !req
632. Hey. How are you feeling?Copy !req
633. I should be asking you that.Copy !req
634. - Good job.
- Thank you. You too.Copy !req
635. You hungry?Copy !req
636. After everything I saw
today, no. Not at all.Copy !req
637. - I am thirsty. Really, really thirsty.
- Me too.Copy !req
638. Look at that.Copy !req
639. Yeah, look at that.Copy !req
640. - They're gone.
- So did it work?Copy !req
641. - What we did?
- Yes.Copy !req
642. It led them back to Mr. Jones.Copy !req
643. Did he ask the question?
And did we get the answer?Copy !req
644. Little Hill.Copy !req
