1. What's her name?Copy !req
2. Whoever you're thinking about,
your girlfriend or whatever.Copy !req
3. - I don't have a girlfriend.
- Yeah?Copy !req
4. What's in the bag?Copy !req
5. Oh, is it a pizza?Copy !req
6. Because I could really
go for a mushroom pizza.Copy !req
7. Yeah, it's a mushroom pizza.Copy !req
8. Awesome.Copy !req
9. You're not married, are you?Copy !req
10. Not that it's any of my business.Copy !req
11. You never know about people.Copy !req
12. My name isn't Amber, by the way.Copy !req
13. Obviously.Copy !req
14. That's just for the club.Copy !req
15. Wanna know my real name or what?Copy !req
16. Yes, I do. Very much.Copy !req
17. Loraine.Copy !req
18. Ready for this? Loraine Daisy.Copy !req
19. All my sisters have
flowers for middle names.Copy !req
20. My mom couldn't even
spell Loraine right.Copy !req
21. What's... ?Copy !req
22. - What is it?
- I don't know.Copy !req
23. - What is it?
- Oh, God, what's happening?Copy !req
24. It'll be over in a second. Hold on.Copy !req
25. I want you to get up. Try
and get up. Try and get up.Copy !req
26. Everything okay?Copy !req
27. You need a lift to the
hospital? I got a van.Copy !req
28. Thanks, I'll take her. I'll take her.Copy !req
29. What's happening to me?Copy !req
30. Don't leave me!Copy !req
31. Okay, everything's gonna be fine.Copy !req
32. - How'd you get here?
- All right?Copy !req
33. - Let's get her to Operating Room 2.
- Take a deep breath.Copy !req
34. - How many months are you?
- How many months what?Copy !req
35. - Pregnant.
- I'm not... I'm not pregnant.Copy !req
36. Hold her down. We gotta strap her in.Copy !req
37. We gotta cut
this baby out now, doctor.Copy !req
38. No time for anesthetic.Copy !req
39. BP's 60, pulse is thready.Copy !req
40. What the hell was that?Copy !req
41. - We lost her heartbeat.
- Go for the baby.Copy !req
42. - Give me a scalpel.
- Scalpel.Copy !req
43. - Are you getting anything?
- All right, come on.Copy !req
44. That's good.Copy !req
45. On two.Copy !req
46. Thank you all for
convening at this late hour.Copy !req
47. Forty-three minutes ago, we
were alerted to an incident...Copy !req
48. at Wallace Bromley Medical Center.Copy !req
49. While the details are still coming
in, it appears to be another anomaly...Copy !req
50. whose mysteries and origins remain
the sole purpose of this committee.Copy !req
51. I've called you together tonight
to introduce you to my team...Copy !req
52. who I've tasked to assist us in
our investigation of these events.Copy !req
53. Hopefully, they'll have
more success than our last.Copy !req
54. Walter Bishop...Copy !req
55. dubbed by his contemporaries as
the successor to Albert Einstein.Copy !req
56. Worked for the Defense Advanced Research
Projects Agency from the late '70s...Copy !req
57. Until he was committed to the St. Claire's
Mental Institution for manslaughter.Copy !req
58. - He was never convicted of that crime.
- But in one of your own reports...Copy !req
59. you theorized that
Bishop's previous work...Copy !req
60. may itself be the root of
all these unexplained phenomena.Copy !req
61. Given that he's been hugging
a padded cell for 17 years...Copy !req
62. I think we can probably
exclude him as a suspect.Copy !req
63. However, his knowledge makes him uniquely
qualified to assist our efforts...Copy !req
64. while he remains in the
legal custody of his son, Peter.Copy !req
65. Yes, Peter Bishop...Copy !req
66. whose history of questionable
business practices verge on fraud.Copy !req
67. Yet you propose giving him
access to information...Copy !req
68. that if made public
would cause mass panic.Copy !req
69. Nothing we could tell him that
he can't learn from his father...Copy !req
70. or deduce himself with a 190 IQ.Copy !req
71. What were you thinking when
you recruited Olivia Dunham?Copy !req
72. An FBI agent who had an
illicit affair with her partner...Copy !req
73. a man who turned out to be a traitor.Copy !req
74. I was thinking that a woman
who didn't hesitate to follow evidence...Copy !req
75. and expose the man she loved at the cost
of great personal pain and embarrassment...Copy !req
76. must surely be worthy of our trust.Copy !req
77. I love you.Copy !req
78. Who? Who are you working for?Copy !req
79. - Hello?
- Wake up.Copy !req
80. There's something you need to see.Copy !req
81. Well, waking up is not gonna be a problem,
but thank you for the gentle nudge.Copy !req
82. Pick up the others...Copy !req
83. and meet me in 30 minutes
at the Bromley Medical Center.Copy !req
84. Well, good morning to you too.Copy !req
85. - You're kidding me, right?
- Your phone was off the hook.Copy !req
86. It's because I didn't
wanna get woken up.Copy !req
87. You need to get your father.Copy !req
88. Apparently, there's
something we need to see.Copy !req
89. - And this something... ?
- It can't wait.Copy !req
90. Okay. Walter?Copy !req
91. Hey, Walter, come on. We gotta...Copy !req
92. Walter?Copy !req
93. Aw, come on.Copy !req
94. Tell me you're not in the closet.Copy !req
95. What the hell are you
doing in there again?Copy !req
96. Where I've been for the past 17
years, it was a mental hospital.Copy !req
97. St. Claire's. I'm the one that got
you out of that place, remember?Copy !req
98. There was a patient there. Carlos.Copy !req
99. He would sing "Row, Row,
Row Your Boat" every night.Copy !req
100. Funny how difficult it is
to sleep without that song.Copy !req
101. That's nice.Copy !req
102. We gotta go, Walter.Copy !req
103. Hey, I got here
as fast as we could.Copy !req
104. Twenty-seven minutes. Nicely done.Copy !req
105. Peter Bishop? I'm Phillip Broyles,
Department of Homeland Security.Copy !req
106. Thank you for agreeing to work with us.Copy !req
107. Just to be clear, I
haven't agreed to anything.Copy !req
108. I'm just here as the babysitter.
My father is the one you want.Copy !req
109. Nice to meet you, anyway.Copy !req
110. - Is he coming out?
- Well, that's unclear.Copy !req
111. He's currently in the car fiddling
around with the seat warmer.Copy !req
112. Dr. Bishop, hello. I appreciate
you coming out tonight.Copy !req
113. I've never seen a
feature like this before.Copy !req
114. It warms your ass. It's wonderful.Copy !req
115. Have you tried it?Copy !req
116. Seventeen past midnight,
a woman, pregnant to term...Copy !req
117. was found alone outside the hospital.Copy !req
118. She collapsed, suffering
severe abdominal pain.Copy !req
119. She's a Jane Doe.Copy !req
120. Prints and DNA are being run now.
Should have her ID'd by sundown.Copy !req
121. At 12:24, less than two minutes
after she was pronounced dead...Copy !req
122. Ms. Doe became a mother.Copy !req
123. Did the baby survive?Copy !req
124. The newborn was convulsing,
screaming in obvious pain.Copy !req
125. They placed it in a bassinet...Copy !req
126. were in the process of
transferring it to an Intensive Care...Copy !req
127. when they realized what was happening.
It was growing. Before their eyes.Copy !req
128. Growing? You mean, they
could see it getting larger?Copy !req
129. That's right.Copy !req
130. So where's the baby now?Copy !req
131. Walter.Copy !req
132. It remained alive for nearly half an
hour, finally dying from natural causes.Copy !req
133. Natural causes? I don't understand.Copy !req
134. What they realized is that the child
wasn't just growing, it was aging.Copy !req
135. Uh, okay, hold on a sec. It's
4 a.m., so I'm a little foggy...Copy !req
136. but we're supposed to believe that
Grandpa here was born four hours ago?Copy !req
137. Were there any calls or tips?Copy !req
138. Security cameras see how
the pregnant woman got here?Copy !req
139. Did she drive herself
or was she dropped off?Copy !req
140. We're checking those now.Copy !req
141. Dr. Bishop, any idea how
something like this might happen?Copy !req
142. I think you're probably
expecting a bit much, Mr. Broyles.Copy !req
143. Celermitosis.Copy !req
144. Disabling, reversing
cell-cycle inhibitors.Copy !req
145. Activating them, turning Cip/Kip
and INK4a/ARFs into catalysts.Copy !req
146. Ninety-two percent of Caucasian
newborns have blue eyes.Copy !req
147. Yours were green.Copy !req
148. To understand what happened here...Copy !req
149. I'll need to run extensive
tests, get these bodies to a lab.Copy !req
150. Therefore, of course, I'll
need a lab immediately.Copy !req
151. Doctor, you have one.Copy !req
152. Your old lab at Harvard,
we reopened it for you.Copy !req
153. Do you not remember that?Copy !req
154. No.Copy !req
155. No, but that's fantastic news.Copy !req
156. All right, let's assume for a second
that bundle of joy here is for real.Copy !req
157. What are we doing here?Copy !req
158. A series of events has occurred...Copy !req
159. Continues to occur. ... that has
us and other agencies on alert.Copy !req
160. These events appear to
be scientific in nature...Copy !req
161. and suggest a larger
strategy, a coordinated effort.Copy !req
162. It's being referred to as "the Pattern."Copy !req
163. Mr. Broyles, I consider myself
a fairly intelligent guy...Copy !req
164. - ... but I'm not following you here.
- Hello?Copy !req
165. Inexplicable and frightening
things are happening...Copy !req
166. and there's a connection somehow.Copy !req
167. - Just a second.
- That much I understand.Copy !req
168. I got Henning on the phone.Copy !req
169. The hospital got a call from a
guest at the Scarlet Red Motel...Copy !req
170. checking to see if the
pregnant woman was doing okay.Copy !req
171. Was she staying there?Copy !req
172. Yes, with a Caucasian
male, 20s, brown hair...Copy !req
173. but there's no description
of him or the car he was driving.Copy !req
174. Call the motel. Make sure they don't
touch anything. They shouldn't even go in.Copy !req
175. I already called and you're good to
go. The motel room is empty and locked.Copy !req
176. Dr. Bishop? I may need you to
take samples from the motel room.Copy !req
177. I need you to come with me.Copy !req
178. - Walter.
- Do you see what I'm doing here?Copy !req
179. Hey. Relax.Copy !req
180. I can't figure this out
with a girl buzzing in my ear.Copy !req
181. I am trying to put these
pieces together, like a puzzle.Copy !req
182. How this happened, how he
happened to her. I'm working.Copy !req
183. Come on, Olivia.Copy !req
184. I can do this.Copy !req
185. My limited stint at MIT
did teach me something.Copy !req
186. "Loraine Daisy Alcott."Copy !req
187. Loraine Daisy.Copy !req
188. That's just sad.Copy !req
189. One R.Copy !req
190. Hey. I think I actually got
something to sample in here.Copy !req
191. It's some kind of orange gel.Copy !req
192. Sorry about my father.Copy !req
193. He always was a little myopic.Copy !req
194. Her things were left
behind, but not his.Copy !req
195. Checking the thread count?Copy !req
196. Yes.Copy !req
197. - Open the cabinet.
- Why?Copy !req
198. There are gonna be sheets in there.Copy !req
199. Okay, how'd you do that?Copy !req
200. Hey. Car's right here.Copy !req
201. Olivia. What's going on?Copy !req
202. That's what he would do. He'd
go to motels ahead of time...Copy !req
203. to replace the sheets with
leak-proof, medical-grade linen...Copy !req
204. so he wouldn't leave blood evidence.Copy !req
205. - Who?
- I know who was in that room.Copy !req
206. The killer, I know his profile. It
was a case that John and I worked.Copy !req
207. Serial murders in New Jersey and
New York and we never caught him.Copy !req
208. You can't beat yourself up because you
didn't catch the bastard on your first try.Copy !req
209. I feel like I've been
asleep for the last year.Copy !req
210. Every case that John
and I worked together...Copy !req
211. I have to go back and try
and find whatever I missed.Copy !req
212. Okay, then tell me.Copy !req
213. How'd the killer do it?Copy !req
214. When I joined the FBI...Copy !req
215. this was one of the cases
John and I investigated together.Copy !req
216. Each time, he'd kill five
young women within a few days.Copy !req
217. He'd pick them up,
take them to motels...Copy !req
218. and then he'd give
them a muscle paralyzer.Copy !req
219. They'd be wide awake but unable to move.Copy !req
220. He'd make an incision
here, along their gums.Copy !req
221. And then he'd pull their
mouths open up to their eyes.Copy !req
222. Okay. That's enough. You can stop...Copy !req
223. He'd go through their nasal cavity
and remove a piece of their brain.Copy !req
224. And all of this connects
to Magic Old-Man Baby...Copy !req
225. and the pregnant woman how?Copy !req
226. I don't know.Copy !req
227. But there's a connection somewhere.Copy !req
228. The muscle paralyzer he
used was bright orange.Copy !req
229. So if that's our sample, then
I'm telling you, this is our guy.Copy !req
230. Which...Copy !req
231. means he's gonna kill again.Copy !req
232. I'm Stacey.Copy !req
233. Memorial services for Agent
Scott are being planned for late next week.Copy !req
234. I know everybody's
heard a lot of things...Copy !req
235. surrounding the
circumstances of his death...Copy !req
236. but I just wanna be clear:Copy !req
237. John Scott was one of us.Copy !req
238. And we will pay him the respect
of considering him innocent...Copy !req
239. until the inquiry can establish
the full facts of the matter.Copy !req
240. Now, as far as any contacts...Copy !req
241. our official word
right now is "no comment."Copy !req
242. Dismissed.Copy !req
243. What are you doing here?Copy !req
244. - I left you a message.
- You know, I got it.Copy !req
245. You wanna open up a
12-year-old serial case.Copy !req
246. The brain surgeon.Copy !req
247. I don't think he retired.Copy !req
248. How long is Broyles gonna
have you on special assignment?Copy !req
249. The hell are you working on, anyway?Copy !req
250. You knew, didn't you?Copy !req
251. About me and John?Copy !req
252. I'd like to think that I
have some powers of deduction.Copy !req
253. I took advantage of our friendship.Copy !req
254. You kept quiet even
though you didn't approve.Copy !req
255. Hadn't seen you that
happy in a long time.Copy !req
256. - Look, Olivia, you have nothing to prove.
- Yeah, I do.Copy !req
257. I have to live with the fact that I
didn't see him for who he really was.Copy !req
258. I have to live with the feeling
that whatever awful things he did...Copy !req
259. I should've stopped them.Copy !req
260. Livvy, you can nev...Copy !req
261. Mostly, I just wanna take a
shower from the inside out.Copy !req
262. I'll get you the case files.Copy !req
263. So I started working
there a couple weeks ago.Copy !req
264. It's a lot better than
the one in Providence.Copy !req
265. That place is a total dive.Copy !req
266. Heh, most guys bring me to a hotel.Copy !req
267. Wow.Copy !req
268. Look at this place.Copy !req
269. Those windows have a really
great view of the bridge.Copy !req
270. I don't care about the bridge.Copy !req
271. What do you like?Copy !req
272. I like the bridge.Copy !req
273. Go check it out.Copy !req
274. Humph.Copy !req
275. Hello?Copy !req
276. Over here.Copy !req
277. Over here.Copy !req
278. What are you doing?Copy !req
279. I'm doing two things at once:Copy !req
280. I'm waiting for you and
I'm doing her a favor.Copy !req
281. You were supposed to be
doing extensive testing.Copy !req
282. Our 80-year-old
man-baby. Remember that?Copy !req
283. Done.Copy !req
284. Tests complete. You underestimate me.Copy !req
285. Which I suppose I deserve.Copy !req
286. But...Copy !req
287. wonderful news all round.Copy !req
288. DNA results confirm my suspicions
that the woman was impregnated...Copy !req
289. by a man who is the
result of experiments...Copy !req
290. identical to those conducted by me
in this very lab around 30 years ago.Copy !req
291. - So you know how this happened.
- No. No idea.Copy !req
292. Uh, the specifics elude me completely.Copy !req
293. So then what's this wonderful news?Copy !req
294. Because I remembered something else.Copy !req
295. I remembered where I parked my car.Copy !req
296. Really?Copy !req
297. You remember where you
parked your car 17 years ago.Copy !req
298. Three, one, four, one, five, nine.Copy !req
299. Pi to six digits.Copy !req
300. I can't fathom that it's
still here. Look at it.Copy !req
301. This is your car?Copy !req
302. Of course it is.Copy !req
303. So, what, you got cars stuffed
with papers all over town?Copy !req
304. Not just cars.Copy !req
305. You have no idea where
I've hidden things.Copy !req
306. Friend of yours?Copy !req
307. Oh. I certainly hope not.Copy !req
308. Come on, boy. We need to get
these file boxes back to the lab.Copy !req
309. You may be able to reanimate
dead guinea pigs or whatever...Copy !req
310. but I can bring anything
mechanical back from the dead.Copy !req
311. - This is the last of them.
- Nope.Copy !req
312. No. Hello, I'm Dr. Walter Bishop.Copy !req
313. Yes, Dr. Bishop, we've met. I'm
Junior Agent Astrid Farnsworth.Copy !req
314. Third time's the charm.Copy !req
315. You know, we'd be a lot more help to you
if you told us what we were looking for.Copy !req
316. My research.Copy !req
317. Sella turcica, diaphragma sellae, the
dural folds of the pituitary fossa...Copy !req
318. in which the pituitary gland
sits, situated in the sphenoid bone...Copy !req
319. Did you just say "pituitary gland"?Copy !req
320. Did I?Copy !req
321. Well, that's how he killed.Copy !req
322. He'd perform surgery on his victims,
remove the pituitary gland...Copy !req
323. before he overdosed
them with anesthesia.Copy !req
324. Look for anything
with "pituitary" in it.Copy !req
325. I'm sorry, I don't get it.Copy !req
326. I mean, what's the link to
what happened at the hospital?Copy !req
327. Advanced rapid aging, like
the disease called progeria...Copy !req
328. can be induced artificially by
manipulating the pituitary gland.Copy !req
329. P. Pituitary, P. P. Mm... .Copy !req
330. All the hormones in the human
body that control growth...Copy !req
331. which is aging, really, are in the
brain, and the pituitary gland is the boss.Copy !req
332. - Pinot. Pinto. Penny. Oh. Ha, yes, penny.
- Progeria.Copy !req
333. Case file by Dr. Penrose.Copy !req
334. Yes, Penrose. Penrose.Copy !req
335. I remember him. A
former colleague of mine.Copy !req
336. Although he suffered from
severe pseudofolliculitis nuchae.Copy !req
337. - Razor burn.
- He'll know.Copy !req
338. We ran experiments on rapid growth.Copy !req
339. Obviously, someone has
made a breakthrough...Copy !req
340. and Penrose could
lead us to that person.Copy !req
341. Dr. Claus Penrose.Copy !req
342. He moved to the East
Coast two years ago.Copy !req
343. He's a professor at Boston College.Copy !req
344. - Agent Francis.
- Charlie, it's me.Copy !req
345. Dunham. What's up?Copy !req
346. I need a cross-check of
recent unsolved homicides.Copy !req
347. See if any bodies have turned up
with a missing pituitary gland.Copy !req
348. - Oh, you say the sweetest things.
- Only to you, Charlie.Copy !req
349. I'll get somebody on it.Copy !req
350. - Dr. Penrose.
- Yes?Copy !req
351. Agent Dunham, FBI.Copy !req
352. Can we ask you a few questions?Copy !req
353. Do you drink tea?Copy !req
354. The body you see there...Copy !req
355. was photographed only
hours after being born.Copy !req
356. - Where's the mother?
- She died during childbirth.Copy !req
357. When she was admitted, she
claimed she wasn't even pregnant.Copy !req
358. You worked with Dr. Bishop,
manipulating growth hormones...Copy !req
359. at the end of the Vietnam War.Copy !req
360. Yes.Copy !req
361. So, what can I do for you?Copy !req
362. In the years since, have you
shared your research with anyone?Copy !req
363. - I must tell you both, our work was...
- Highly theoretical?Copy !req
364. Yes, but I was going to say
that, more than anything...Copy !req
365. it was wrong.Copy !req
366. I resigned from the employ of
the United States government...Copy !req
367. after only one year.Copy !req
368. When I refused to continue...Copy !req
369. I was harassed,
threatened with deportation.Copy !req
370. Didn't feel like the America...Copy !req
371. I remembered from when I was a boy.Copy !req
372. Which is why, as sorry as I was to
hear about Dr. Bishop's incarceration...Copy !req
373. I believe it was the best thing
that could ever happen to humanity.Copy !req
374. No one in power should
ever learn what he knows.Copy !req
375. Forgive me for sounding
uncooperative, Agent Dunham...Copy !req
376. but my work to which you
are referring ended years ago.Copy !req
377. Since then, I've done
all I can to forget it.Copy !req
378. - What do you think?
- I think you know what I think.Copy !req
379. - Yeah, he meant what he said.
- He's not telling us everything.Copy !req
380. Dunham.Copy !req
381. Sudbury Police
has a blond, female victim.Copy !req
382. "Surgical incision
along her upper gum line.Copy !req
383. The central endocrine
gland has been removed."Copy !req
384. This count?Copy !req
385. - Can you get the body brought to the lab?
- Will do.Copy !req
386. Astrid called.
She said you have news.Copy !req
387. You're right.Copy !req
388. The pituitary gland has
indeed been removed...Copy !req
389. and I may be able to
posit an hypothesis as to why.Copy !req
390. Years ago, when I worked
with the Defense Department...Copy !req
391. we were tasked with a program
designed to cultivate soldiers.Copy !req
392. "Cultivate"?Copy !req
393. Quite literally. Grow them.Copy !req
394. It was highly theoretical, of course.Copy !req
395. Female eggs were to be
fertilized in a lab...Copy !req
396. and given a cocktail
of growth hormones.Copy !req
397. If perfected, a baby was
born and within three years...Copy !req
398. aged to the equivalent
of a 21-year-old male.Copy !req
399. A soldier in prime condition.Copy !req
400. You're telling me you developed
a way to grow soldiers. People.Copy !req
401. Theoretically.Copy !req
402. The only problem was how
to slow the aging process...Copy !req
403. once the subject had reached
the desired physical age.Copy !req
404. Once started, we couldn't
turn the aging off.Copy !req
405. So you think now, what, that the
killer somehow continued your work?Copy !req
406. Not exactly. But I believe that
someone has made a breakthrough.Copy !req
407. That the killer is the product:Copy !req
408. A test-tube human
afflicted with rapid aging.Copy !req
409. To slow the process, he
must extract the hormones...Copy !req
410. from the pituitary glands
of his victims to treat himself.Copy !req
411. To stay young.Copy !req
412. - Then the pregnant woman at the hospital...
- She was an accident.Copy !req
413. And the killer's condition
was passed on to the baby.Copy !req
414. Even condoms are not
100 percent effective.Copy !req
415. You two should be aware of this.Copy !req
416. That night, he was going to kill
her, but first they fornicated.Copy !req
417. - Had intercourse. Sex.
- Okay. We got it.Copy !req
418. She became pregnant, but the
pregnancy became horribly accelerated.Copy !req
419. Someone must've heard her scream.
He couldn't go through with his plan.Copy !req
420. He couldn't kill her.Copy !req
421. Which is why he didn't kill this girl
at a motel, because he was scared.Copy !req
422. And if his m.o. has changed,
then we have nothing.Copy !req
423. No, we have to go back and
start again from the beginning.Copy !req
424. - No, this is okay. We're making progress.
- Why don't you tell her...Copy !req
425. that everything's going to be okay?Copy !req
426. I thought you had a way with women.Copy !req
427. Christopher!Copy !req
428. The FBI came to see me today.Copy !req
429. I know what happened.Copy !req
430. You got that woman pregnant.Copy !req
431. Son, we have to be so careful.Copy !req
432. I know.Copy !req
433. How's the pain?Copy !req
434. Getting worse.Copy !req
435. Yes. Well, we're almost there.Copy !req
436. You just need to get one
more and you'll be okay again.Copy !req
437. Yes, yes, yes.Copy !req
438. Something on your mind?Copy !req
439. Oh, please. The term "on your mind"
vexes me with its depictive inaccuracy.Copy !req
440. Oh, stop. Would you
just talk like a person?Copy !req
441. - What are you thinking?
- Jules Verne.Copy !req
442. 20,000 Leagues Under
the Sea Jules Verne?Copy !req
443. Yes. Although I was referring...Copy !req
444. to his lesser-known
masterwork The Kip Brothers...Copy !req
445. in which he posited that
the last image seen in life...Copy !req
446. right at the moment of death...Copy !req
447. is permanently imprinted
on the retina of the eye.Copy !req
448. Also a work of fiction, which is
a small but critical distinction.Copy !req
449. When was it you lost
your imagination, son?Copy !req
450. All right, you wanna play? Let's play.Copy !req
451. The only way that we could see
what she saw, even in theory...Copy !req
452. is if we could recover
the electric impulses...Copy !req
453. that were traveling along
her optic nerve, which we can't.Copy !req
454. Ah! But we're in luck. This
woman was given a muscle relaxant.Copy !req
455. The drug would've frozen
her neural pathways...Copy !req
456. at the moment of death, and
the last images she saw with it.Copy !req
457. Okay, assuming we're actually
having this conversation...Copy !req
458. we would still need a... .Copy !req
459. I don't know, but we'd need something
that could translate what she saw...Copy !req
460. Something that could translate
from her eyes to a monitor.Copy !req
461. A TV screen.Copy !req
462. Hey.Copy !req
463. - I'm sorry about the lab. I don't usually... .
- What?Copy !req
464. Lose control.Copy !req
465. To tell you the truth,
it was kind of a relief.Copy !req
466. You've been so together, with
everything that's going on...Copy !req
467. I was starting to develop
an inferiority complex.Copy !req
468. Knowing that Walter's work is
responsible for all those murders... .Copy !req
469. I just want you to know
that you're not alone here.Copy !req
470. Listen, heh, I can't believe
that I'm about to propose this...Copy !req
471. but I think we've actually figured
out a way to track down that psycho.Copy !req
472. - How?
- Well, we need a piece of equipment.Copy !req
473. It's a laser-optic hardware. Very
crazy and very, very hard to find...Copy !req
474. but as it turns out, only
one company has the patent.Copy !req
475. Sorry for the delay. Ms.
Sharp will be right with you.Copy !req
476. I have reservations about asking
Massive Dynamic for a favor.Copy !req
477. The corporate mind always
looks for quid pro quo.Copy !req
478. Can I ask you a question?Copy !req
479. Of course.Copy !req
480. Before he died, Agent Scott suggested
that this was more than a coincidence...Copy !req
481. that you recruited
me for this assignment.Copy !req
482. Agent Dunham...Copy !req
483. do you mind if I ask you a personal
question about you and Agent Scott?Copy !req
484. The very last time you were intimate...Copy !req
485. were you safe?Copy !req
486. You weren't, were you?Copy !req
487. Agent Dunham?Copy !req
488. Ms. Sharp will see you now.Copy !req
489. I hope the ride was comfortable.Copy !req
490. I'm not a big fan of airplanes myself.Copy !req
491. I mean, despite the obvious intellectual
understanding of their safety.Copy !req
492. My hands still get sweaty on takeoff.Copy !req
493. Thank you again for your
cooperation. We're very...Copy !req
494. No need to thank me. You know,
I've been thinking of you.Copy !req
495. Meaning to thank you for
being a woman of your word...Copy !req
496. and keeping Massive
Dynamic out of the press.Copy !req
497. I also wanted to say...Copy !req
498. you have my sincere condolences
on the loss of Agent Scott.Copy !req
499. And what do you know about Agent Scott?Copy !req
500. I know that he was your partner.Copy !req
501. I've lost people close to me.
I know how hard that can be.Copy !req
502. Not to mention the rumor about
what he was involved with.Copy !req
503. And, of course, the joy of being a female
in a traditionally male line of work.Copy !req
504. I mean, no doubt some of
your male colleagues...Copy !req
505. are assuming that
you two were intimate.Copy !req
506. Ah.Copy !req
507. The electronic-pulse camera.Copy !req
508. Travel safely, Agent Dunham.Copy !req
509. We ready?Copy !req
510. Dear, the lights.Copy !req
511. Goggles, all of you. Do not
look directly into the light.Copy !req
512. And we're really gonna
be able to see her last image?Copy !req
513. Faith. Never a bad thing to have.Copy !req
514. This is taking too long.
If he's picked up another victim...Copy !req
515. Impatient. You always were.Copy !req
516. As if you ever knew me well enough
to make a statement like that.Copy !req
517. Ha. You're a smart boy, but
there is much you don't know.Copy !req
518. - Did you see that?
- What was that?Copy !req
519. Wait, wait. What was that?Copy !req
520. - Can you focus?
- It's not a slide projector.Copy !req
521. Wait. Astrid, can
you flip it over? - Yes.Copy !req
522. That's a bridge.Copy !req
523. I know that bridge.Copy !req
524. I used to live in
Dighton. That's, um... .Copy !req
525. That's Sargent Bridge.
That's in Stoughton.Copy !req
526. - What's in Stoughton?
- A warehouse district.Copy !req
527. This would be one of
the last images she saw?Copy !req
528. In theory, yes.Copy !req
529. Where would she have to have been
to see that angle of the bridge?Copy !req
530. Pull up NRO online,
image-mapping database.Copy !req
531. Okay, match the angles.Copy !req
532. Wait, stop.Copy !req
533. That's it. Pull out to
aerial view and triangulate.Copy !req
534. It looks like she's
in this warehouse district.Copy !req
535. The 1600 block of Bond Street.Copy !req
536. I want satellite images of
that area for the last 24 hours.Copy !req
537. Street sweeper on the
access road at 8:05 p.m.Copy !req
538. I got nothing between 6 and 7:45 p.m.Copy !req
539. What are we looking for, exactly?Copy !req
540. She died in one of these buildings.Copy !req
541. I've got a gray sedan parked
outside Unit 17 at 8:05 a.m.Copy !req
542. I've got the same
vehicle eight hours later.Copy !req
543. That's the estimated time
of death of our last victim.Copy !req
544. If you get anything
more specific, call me.Copy !req
545. You got it.Copy !req
546. It worked, Peter. Hear that? Worked.Copy !req
547. - So Lessing, Borrow, Belmont...
- Hold on.Copy !req
548. Did you say Borrow? Did
we pass Borrow already?Copy !req
549. There.Copy !req
550. - Stay there.
- That's just not gonna happen.Copy !req
551. FBI. Put your hands up.Copy !req
552. I said, put your hands up.Copy !req
553. She's alive.Copy !req
554. Is there anyone else here?Copy !req
555. - You have your phone?
- Yeah.Copy !req
556. Dial 17224, ask for Charlie Francis.Copy !req
557. Tell him we need field assist. Tell
him to ping the GPS for the location.Copy !req
558. Safety's on the right.
Do not let him move.Copy !req
559. Freeze!Copy !req
560. Hey, hey! Back off.Copy !req
561. Hello? It's Peter.Copy !req
562. Just making popcorn.Copy !req
563. I'm with a
woman in her mid-20s.Copy !req
564. She is going into cardiac arrest
due to an overdose of anesthesia.Copy !req
565. - Her heart just stopped.
- Do you have any cocaine?Copy !req
566. Cocaine? No, I don't have any cocaine.Copy !req
567. Oh, that's too bad. You'll
have to shock her heart.Copy !req
568. Yeah, I know that.Copy !req
569. Unfortunately, I don't
have a defibrillator.Copy !req
570. - Hey, you still there?
- Mm.Copy !req
571. What is the optimal voltage
for cardiac resuscitation?Copy !req
572. Try 200 volts.Copy !req
573. All right, here goes.Copy !req
574. - It's not working.
- Well, you'll have to crank it.Copy !req
575. Hey, it worked.Copy !req
576. Good work, son. Good work.Copy !req
577. Hey. Ha, ha.Copy !req
578. You're gonna be okay.Copy !req
579. He...Copy !req
580. He should have let me die...Copy !req
581. a long time ago.Copy !req
582. I was... .Copy !req
583. I was an experiment.Copy !req
584. Someone... .Copy !req
585. Someone paid him.Copy !req
586. The man I call my father.Copy !req
587. He should have let me die.Copy !req
588. That was his mistake.Copy !req
589. But he was blinded because he loved me.Copy !req
590. He loved me.Copy !req
591. He... .Copy !req
592. Thank you again for your help.Copy !req
593. That's what I'm here
for. I hope it served you well.Copy !req
594. I'd ask you what you
wanted the camera for...Copy !req
595. but I respect your confidentiality.Copy !req
596. Well, we're grateful for your help.Copy !req
597. Seems you're settling well
into your new position.Copy !req
598. - Excuse me?
- I don't think a woman of your talents...Copy !req
599. should be in public service.Copy !req
600. Oh?Copy !req
601. And where should I be?Copy !req
602. - Here. At Massive Dynamic.
- You're offering me a job?Copy !req
603. Phillip Broyles is a good man
and his record speaks for itself.Copy !req
604. I'm sure you got into law enforcement
because you wanted to make a difference.Copy !req
605. So consider this:Copy !req
606. Massive Dynamic is one of the 10
largest economic entities in the world.Copy !req
607. Our weapons technologies shape the
Defense Department's strategies.Copy !req
608. Our investments sway the markets and
make or break presidential elections.Copy !req
609. Overseas, we have responsibilities...Copy !req
610. traditionally sacred to the state:Copy !req
611. The right to direct private armies.Copy !req
612. To manage global affairs
into stable equilibrium.Copy !req
613. - You're serious.
- Yes, I am.Copy !req
614. Not to mention I believe a position here
would speed your effort to find answers.Copy !req
615. - You're referring to the Pattern?
- Among other things.Copy !req
616. Penrose took a hit.Copy !req
617. Forensics tracked a
2-mile spatter trail...Copy !req
618. leading from the
warehouse out to Route 1.Copy !req
619. Local P.D. is on the lookout and I've
ordered checkpoints along the interstates.Copy !req
620. But nothing so far.
He's still out there.Copy !req
621. Listen.Copy !req
622. Every aspect of these investigations
is strictly classified.Copy !req
623. All of it.Copy !req
624. - You understand that?
- Of course.Copy !req
625. Certain private individuals have been
granted clearance regarding the Pattern.Copy !req
626. Including Nina Sharp. But
that clearance is limited.Copy !req
627. I understand. Sure. But... .Copy !req
628. I'm not clear on what you're getting at.Copy !req
629. When you were with her, did
she share anything with you?Copy !req
630. Did she mention the Pattern? Did
she comment or ask you anything...Copy !req
631. about the details
of your investigation?Copy !req
632. Yeah, she did.Copy !req
633. She said you were a good man.Copy !req
634. And that was it?Copy !req
635. She offered me a job.Copy !req
636. And what did you say to that?Copy !req
637. I told her you were
gonna give me a raise.Copy !req
638. "I acknowledge that
by signing this document...Copy !req
639. I waive my constitutional right
against unreasonable search and seizure."Copy !req
640. - I'm not signing this.
- I, however, will.Copy !req
641. Well, of course you will.
What have you got to lose?Copy !req
642. You're already committed
to a mental institution.Copy !req
643. You have to sign it too.Copy !req
644. I'm not signing my rights
away to the federal government.Copy !req
645. I already got enough trouble in my life.Copy !req
646. Peter told me...Copy !req
647. about my former
colleague and his son.Copy !req
648. It's one of the inherent
pitfalls of being a scientist.Copy !req
649. Trying to maintain that distinction...Copy !req
650. between God's domain and our own.Copy !req
651. Sometimes I forget myself.Copy !req
652. But then, you already know that.Copy !req
653. What do you mean?Copy !req
654. If you've read my file...Copy !req
655. then you know the truth...Copy !req
656. about Peter's medical history.Copy !req
657. - I've been meaning to ask you...
- Walter.Copy !req
658. There was no mention
of any medical history.Copy !req
659. Just his birthday.Copy !req
660. Oh.Copy !req
661. Okay, I was going to ask you to
keep it between just the two of us...Copy !req
662. but I suppose, then, there's no need.Copy !req
663. Zero. One. One.Copy !req
664. Two. Three. Eight.Copy !req
665. Thirteen. Twenty-one.
Thirty-four.Copy !req
666. - Fifty-five.
- Hey!Copy !req
667. Walter.Copy !req
668. You're awake, Peter?Copy !req
669. Me too.Copy !req
670. I was trying to lull myself to sleep.Copy !req
671. Yeah, I'm... I'm aware of that.Copy !req
672. I can hear you.Copy !req
673. - You think you could do that in your head?
- Wasn't I?Copy !req
674. I thought I was. Sorry.Copy !req
675. That's okay. Just try and
keep it down, all right?Copy !req
676. One. Two.Copy !req
677. Thirty-three. Three.Copy !req
678. Seventy-seven.Copy !req
679. Two. Twenty-one.Copy !req
680. Six. Hundred and ten.Copy !req
681. Son?Copy !req
682. Is that you?Copy !req
683. Yes, Walter, it's me.Copy !req
684. Just stop talking and
close your eyes, okay?Copy !req
