had a listCopy !req
5. of everything I'd accomplished,
which so far, was nothing.Copy !req
6. This was my last chance to make
sure that didn't happen again.Copy !req
7. Why aren't you filling out
your yearbook activities form?Copy !req
8. Because right now,
the only thing I haveCopy !req
9. to put under my picture is
"human punching bag."Copy !req
10. How about "First Black
kid at Corleone"?Copy !req
11. Actually, I wasn't the first
Black kid at Corleone...Copy !req
12. I was just the first one
that made it into the building.Copy !req
13. Okay, so I might be the first.Copy !req
14. But until now,
that hasn't meant a whole lot.Copy !req
15. But you tried out for
the basketball team.Copy !req
16. And ran for class president.Copy !req
17. Yeah, but I failed.Copy !req
18. Nobody remembers failure.Copy !req
19. I thought about
other Black peopleCopy !req
20. who were first at something,Copy !req
21. and what it would be like
if they had failed.Copy !req
22. Thanks for showing up.Copy !req
23. This Black guy was
in here, uh, Robinson.Copy !req
24. You know I was going to break
the color line for him.Copy !req
25. He showed up 20 minutes late.Copy !req
26. Claimed he couldn't
get a seat on the bus.Copy !req
27. Now you, kid,
you can't hit.Copy !req
28. You can't run.Copy !req
29. You can't throw.Copy !req
30. But you show up on time.Copy !req
31. It's not too late.Copy !req
32. You can still get
involved in an activity.Copy !req
33. Like what?Copy !req
34. I don't know.Copy !req
35. Something that plays
into your strong suits.Copy !req
36. Problem was,
all I had were weak suits.Copy !req

Glee Club.Copy !req
39. I can't sing.Copy !req
40. The debate team.Copy !req

42. Yeah, but that's full.Copy !req
43. Well, it looks like
the only thing leftCopy !req
44. is the Chess Club
and Journalism staff.Copy !req
45. I thought about joining
the Chess Club.Copy !req
46. Go!Copy !req

in white neighborhoods.Copy !req
52. For one thing,
there's no obituary column.Copy !req
53. So, what do you
want to write about?Copy !req
54. Politics.
No.Copy !req
55. I write about politics.Copy !req
56. Okay, then sports.Copy !req
57. No, Ping does
the sports column.Copy !req
58. Mostly covers Ping-Pong.Copy !req
59. Okay, then entertainment.Copy !req
60. Like, movie reviews
and stuff like that.Copy !req
61. This isn't Jet magazine,
this is a newspaper.Copy !req
62. I like Jet.Copy !req
63. Okay, then what do you
want me to write about?Copy !req
64. I don't know, something
that you know about.Copy !req
65. She doesn't have the guts to
suggest a fried chicken column.Copy !req
66. Like what?
I don't know.Copy !req
67. Something that's
unique to you.Copy !req
68. You know, something that's
unique to you, Blackety.Copy !req
69. While I thought
about what to write,Copy !req
70. my father thought
something was wrong.Copy !req
71. Re!Copy !req
72. Why're you campaigning
for this guy?Copy !req
73. Because my daddy
supported his daddyCopy !req
74. when he was
city councilman,Copy !req
75. and now I am just carrying
on the tradition.Copy !req
76. But you're hardly home as it is.Copy !req
77. Who gonna take
care of the house?Copy !req
78. That look means,
"Ain't you got two hands?"Copy !req
79. Baby, don't worry.Copy !req
80. The campaign will be over soonCopy !req
81. then everything will be
back to normal.Copy !req
82. I don't know why you want
to be involved with this guy.Copy !req
83. He's nothing but a
crook and a womanizer.Copy !req
84. Julius, would you
quit being jealous.Copy !req
85. He is not a crook.Copy !req
86. I've know him
since I was a teenager.Copy !req
87. So, even Saddam Hussein
had friends.Copy !req
88. Could you get that?Copy !req
89. Thank you, baby.Copy !req
90. Julius, ha-ha!Copy !req
91. Good to see you,
my brother.Copy !req
92. Hope you plan to
vote next week.Copy !req
93. Yeah, I-I do.Copy !req
94. Hope you plan to lose.Copy !req
95. Hi, Lamar!Copy !req
96. Rochelle, how're you doing?Copy !req
97. Good to see you.
Look at you.
Oh, good.Copy !req
98. Rochelle,
I want to thank youCopy !req
99. for volunteering
to help our campaign.Copy !req
100. Oh, not a problem, Lamar.Copy !req
101. You know you are
like family to me.Copy !req
102. Like play cousins.Copy !req
103. My mother saw a councilman,
but my father saw this:Copy !req
104. Rochelle, baby,Copy !req
105. Daddy needs you to get on out
there with your fine selfCopy !req
106. and get Daddy them votes.Copy !req
107. Aw! But Daddy, it's raining
cats and dogs out there.Copy !req
108. Cats...Copy !req
109. Girl, you better
get on out thereCopy !req
110. and go on
that campaigning.Copy !req
111. Get on out there.Copy !req
112. Vote for Daddy.
Vote for Daddy.Copy !req
113. Uh, so can I pick
these up later?Copy !req
114. Oh, yeah, you know what,
I'll get started on them now.Copy !req
115. Whoa, whoa, wait a minute.Copy !req
116. What about dinner?Copy !req
117. Oh, baby, can't we order
Chinese food?Copy !req
118. Well, who gonna pay
for this Chinese food?Copy !req
119. Uh, I can pay you
with my undying gratitude.Copy !req
120. Well, can you
pay me back with $13.43?Copy !req
121. Julius...Copy !req
122. Julius, you funny, man.
Yeah.Copy !req
123. No, you funnier.Copy !req
124. No, you funny.
No, you really funny.Copy !req
125. And you lucky.Copy !req
126. I mean, you got yourself
a fine woman right here.Copy !req
127. Yes, yes.Copy !req
128. Don't worry, baby, I'll cook.Copy !req
129. Uh, I was going anyway.Copy !req
130. Bye.
Listen,
don't forget to vote.Copy !req
131. Oh, I won't.Copy !req
132. Oh, he won't, but not for you.Copy !req
133. Oh, Julius.Copy !req
134. Yuck!
What's the matter?Copy !req
135. My peas are touching
my mashed potatoes.
So what?Copy !req
136. I just hate when one food
touches another.Copy !req
137. Baby, that's what mashed
potatoes are for.Copy !req
138. They're like little
clumps of glueCopy !req
139. that you use to
pick up your peas.Copy !req
140. That's disgusting.Copy !req
141. I could only imagine
what would've happenedCopy !req
142. if I'd tried that.Copy !req
143. I can't eat this.Copy !req
144. My peas are touching
my mashed potatoes.Copy !req
145. Are they separated now?Copy !req
146. Mm-hmm.Copy !req
147. Chris, put that paper away.Copy !req
148. You're just
like your daddy.Copy !req
149. You know better
than to read at the table.Copy !req
150. Sorry, ma— it's just that
I'm writing an articleCopy !req
151. in the school paper
and I'm looking for ideas.Copy !req
152. Oh, well...Copy !req
153. why don't you write
about Councilman Johnson,Copy !req
154. and all the wonderful thingsCopy !req
155. that are happening
in the neighborhood?Copy !req
156. Like crack?Copy !req
157. You know what,
as a matter of fact,Copy !req
158. I think we all should help.Copy !req
159. Drew, you can
help me put up posters.Copy !req
160. And Tonya,
you can hand out buttons.Copy !req
161. I've got homework.Copy !req
162. Yeah, and I got to read
an autobiography on Billy Ocean.Copy !req
163. Don't even look at me.Copy !req
164. You know, that's a shame.Copy !req
165. People marched and had dogs
and hoses turned on themCopy !req
166. for the right to vote, and
you guys can't even help.Copy !req
167. Maybe you should turn
dogs and hoses on them.Copy !req
168. Okay, fine.Copy !req
169. I'll do it by myself.Copy !req
170. My mother had to do it on her
own, and so did I.Copy !req
171. How's school?Copy !req
172. Tough, I've got to write
an article for the school paper.Copy !req
173. Oh, you're a writer now, huh?Copy !req
174. Well, it's just that this
is my last yearCopy !req
175. at Corleone and I think peopleCopy !req
176. won't remember me
unless I do something.Copy !req
177. Good for you.Copy !req
178. It's great to
be a writer.Copy !req
179. You can get your legacy started.Copy !req
180. Legacy?Copy !req
181. Your legacy.Copy !req
182. Like, what people remember
you for.Copy !req
183. Somebody should tell
Bobby BrownCopy !req
184. about this whole
"legacy" thing.Copy !req
185. Only problem is, I don't
know what to write about.Copy !req
186. Well, you happen to be in luck.Copy !req
187. I got a lot you can write about.Copy !req
188. But you're gonna have to
tone it down a little bit,Copy !req
189. because it's juicy.Copy !req
190. Really?
Yeah.Copy !req
191. You know, when I was young,Copy !req
192. I was arealplayer.Copy !req
193. I dated womenCopy !req
194. wherever I could find them.Copy !req
195. Oh, yeah, I was what you'd
call a serial dater.Copy !req
196. I went out with
thousands of women.Copy !req
197. They all cried when I left.Copy !req
198. But they'd all take me
back in a second.Copy !req
199. No, I didn't know that.Copy !req
200. I dated all the pretty
women in Syracuse.Copy !req
201. Both of them.Copy !req
202. Then I dated all the
pretty women in Albany.Copy !req
203. Now we're up to three.Copy !req
204. Then, I dated all the pretty
women in Pittsburgh.Copy !req
205. Okay, we're back at two.Copy !req
206. But I know it's hard
to look at old DocCopy !req
207. and think of me in that way,Copy !req
208. but I'm a real lady killer.Copy !req
209. I knew one thing for sure:Copy !req
210. nobody at school
was writing about this.Copy !req
211. While I was getting my story
down,
Johnson!Copy !req
212. my mother was
getting the vote out.Copy !req
213. Vote Johnson! Johnson!
You got it, you got it.Copy !req
214. Johnson!Copy !req
215. Vote for Johnson!
Vote for Johnson!Copy !req
216. Here, vote for Johnson,
he's a great guy.Copy !req
217. Vote for John... hey!Copy !req
218. Wait! Wait! Wait!Copy !req
219. Wait, wait a minute!Copy !req
220. Wait a minute, what the
hell are you doing?Copy !req
221. I'm trying to prevent
the electionCopy !req
222. of this evil individual.Copy !req
223. Lamar Johnson is not evil.Copy !req
224. You know that since
this man has come into office,Copy !req
225. my business has dropped 35%?Copy !req
226. That's because the murder
rate has dropped 35%.Copy !req
227. The whole reason
I moved to Bed-StuyCopy !req
228. was because
business was booming.Copy !req
229. I couldn't keep
a casket in stock.Copy !req
230. They were literally
flying into the ground.Copy !req
231. You are sick.Copy !req
232. That's why I'm going
to do everythingCopy !req
233. in my power to get
him re-elected.Copy !req
234. I'm going to do everything
in my power to get him defeated.Copy !req
235. What? Wait a minute now.Copy !req
236. If you're not votingCopy !req
237. for Johnson,
who are you voting for?Copy !req
238. Himelfarb?Copy !req
239. Abe Himelfarb,
who owns the pawn shop?Copy !req
240. With Himelfarb in office,Copy !req
241. everything will fall
naturally into place.Copy !req
242. Over my dead body!Copy !req
243. That would be tragic,Copy !req
244. but if it were to happen,
you can rest assuredCopy !req
245. I'll give Mr. Julius
a nice discount.Copy !req
246. You... you just stay away
from my posters.Copy !req
247. Vote for Johnson!
Vote for John...Copy !req
248. Hey! Hey!Copy !req
249. Wait! Stop that man!Copy !req
250. Stop him!Copy !req
251. Wait! Wait!Copy !req
252. When I turned in my story,
Lisa read me the riot act.Copy !req
253. You call yourself a writer?Copy !req
254. This is the worst
story I've ever read.Copy !req
255. I just wasted
20 minutes of my life.Copy !req
256. Do you know how many trees
died for you to write this?Copy !req
257. You're destroying
the ozone layer.Copy !req
258. People are gonna get cancer.Copy !req
259. Okay, okay, I get it.Copy !req
260. So what's wrong with it?Copy !req
261. Everything—
who wants to readCopy !req
262. about some crusty
old ghetto Romeo?Copy !req
263. Well, you told me write
about something I know,
and I know this guy.Copy !req
264. Well, if this
is the best you can do,Copy !req
265. maybe you should think
about doing something else.Copy !req
266. Like the Chess Club?Copy !req
267. Go!Copy !req
268. I wonder if there's
a Checkers Club.Copy !req
269. Lisa hated my story,
so I showed it to Ms. Morello,Copy !req
270. who loved anything black.Copy !req
271. Lisa's right, this isn't good.Copy !req
272. What's wrong with it?Copy !req
273. Chris, there's nothing worse
than racial stereotypes.Copy !req
274. We've seen this
a thousand times.Copy !req
275. The tall, shirtless Black man,Copy !req
276. his ebony pecs
glistening with sweatCopy !req
277. from working in the fields.Copy !req
278. His furrowed brow
filled with savage lust.Copy !req
279. Where was I?Copy !req
280. I think you were talking
about racial stereotypes.Copy !req
281. Oh, right.Copy !req
282. I want to read
about the real Black menCopy !req
283. who walk the gritty streets
of the hood.Copy !req
284. People like Super Fly,Copy !req
285. the Mack, Black Belt Jones,Copy !req
286. Truck Turner and Blacula.Copy !req
287. Tell me the truth
about the pimpsCopy !req
288. and the hustlers,
the violence...Copy !req
289. all set to a jazzy beat!Copy !req
290. Oh, there's a jazzy beat
I want to give her,Copy !req
291. right upside the head.Copy !req
292. Everyone else hated my article,Copy !req
293. but I knew I could count
on Greg for support.Copy !req
294. It's horrible, dude.Copy !req
295. I've only been to your
neighborhood twice,Copy !req
296. and even I have more
exciting stories.Copy !req
297. Well, I don't know
what to write about,Copy !req
298. 'cause everything they're
asking for doesn't exist.Copy !req
299. That's the wrong
attitude.
What do you mean?Copy !req
300. Do you want to be rememberedCopy !req
301. for being something more
than just a human pinata?Copy !req
302. Yeah.
Do you want to
have somethingCopy !req
303. under your picture
in the yearbook?Copy !req
304. Yeah.
Then give the
people what they want.Copy !req
305. I thought journalism
was supposedCopy !req
306. to be about
reporting the facts,Copy !req
307. but what I found out is thatCopy !req
308. people don't always
want the facts.Copy !req
309. So I decided to givethe people
what they want.Copy !req
310. I took Doc's story
about being a lady killer,Copy !req
311. and dropped the word "lady."Copy !req
312. Who do you want to beat?Copy !req
313. Johnson!Copy !req
314. When do you want to beat him?
Now!Copy !req
315. When I say, "Johnson,"
you say, "Fool." Johnson!Copy !req
316. Fool!
Johnson!Copy !req
317. What is that noise?Copy !req
318. That's Mr. Omar.Copy !req
319. He's having
an anti-Johnson rally.Copy !req
320. When do you want
to beat him?
What?Copy !req
321. When I say, "Johnson," you
say, "Fool"-- Johnson!
Fool!Copy !req
322. Johnson!
Oh! J...Copy !req
323. Who do you
want to beat?
Johnson!Copy !req
324. Tonya, tap your butt on
downstairs and lock the door.Copy !req
325. Go on, now!Copy !req
326. you say,
"Fool." Johnson!Copy !req
327. Fool!Copy !req
328. Johnson!
Fool!Copy !req
329. Hey, hey, don't
listen to that fool.Copy !req
330. Johnson is a good man.Copy !req
331. He's cleaning up our streets!Copy !req
332. Vote Johnson!Copy !req
333. What kind of councilman gotCopy !req
334. people campaigning for him
hollering out of windows?Copy !req
335. Vote for Himelfarb!Copy !req
336. How you gonnaCopy !req
337. vote for somebody, and you can't
even spell their name?Copy !req
338. Vote Johnson!Copy !req
339. We can't spell his name, 'cause
Johnson ruined the schools.Copy !req
340. Vote for Himelfarb!Copy !req
341. When I say, "Himel,"
you say "Farb"-- Himel!Copy !req
342. Farb!
Himel!Copy !req
343. Farb!
Well, at least
Johnson ain't lockedCopy !req
344. out of his own
damn house!Copy !req
345. When I say, "Locked,"
you say, "Out"-- Locked!Copy !req
346. Out!Copy !req
347. Locked!
Out!Copy !req
348. That's what he is.Copy !req
349. Hey, wait, wait, wait, wait!Copy !req
350. Where you going?
Where you going? Come on!Copy !req
351. Himelfarb will open doors
that's been shut.Copy !req
352. He will put a chicken
in every pot.Copy !req
353. After I changed my story,
everyone else changed theirs.Copy !req
354. Oh, Chris!Copy !req
355. Oh!Copy !req
356. My brilliantCopy !req
357. little Alex Haley.Copy !req
358. So, did you like the story?Copy !req
359. Like it? I love it!Copy !req
360. The Scissor Killer?Copy !req
361. I wouldn't step
foot in Bed-StuyCopy !req
362. for all the money
in the world.Copy !req
363. That's how most people feel.Copy !req
364. It was so
frightening!Copy !req
365. So real!
The truth leapt off the page.Copy !req
366. The truth jumped off a cliff.Copy !req
367. So, are you going to publish it?Copy !req
368. Are you kidding?
After this story,Copy !req
369. no one at this school
will ever forget you, Chris.Copy !req
370. But that's just
the beginning.Copy !req
371. This Scissor Killer has got
to be stopped,Copy !req
372. atthe Brooklyn Crier, and
they published it, too! Look!Copy !req
373. Because of you,Copy !req
374. they're going to bring
this man to justice.Copy !req
375. Because of me,
they're gonna waste their time.Copy !req
376. I wanted to be remembered,
and this was somethingCopy !req
377. people were never going
to forget.Copy !req
378. Brooklyn was paralyzed
with fear.Copy !req
379. There was fear
in the beauty shop.Copy !req
380. "Put the knife to her and..."Copy !req
381. There was fear
in the barbershop.Copy !req
382. There was even fear
in the gutter.Copy !req
383. There was only one man
who was happy.Copy !req
384. Now that's what
I'm talking about.Copy !req
385. The Brooklyn Crier is working
in conjunctionCopy !req
386. with local authorities
to determine the whereaboutsCopy !req
387. of a man known only
as The Scissor Killer.Copy !req
388. The Scissor Killer was brought
to the attention of the CrierCopy !req
389. by this Corleone Junior
High School student after...Copy !req
390. Rochelle, good God,
have you seen the stories?Copy !req
391. I just saw it on TV.Copy !req
392. This is a... a...Copy !req
393. Oh, this is a disaster!Copy !req
394. Can you believe what this is
going to do to the community?Copy !req
395. I mean, why would you let
your son Chris write a storyCopy !req
396. like this when I'm trying
to get reelected?Copy !req
397. What? You're worried about
being reelected when my sonCopy !req
398. is out there
about to beCopy !req
399. snipped to death by
a scissor killer?Copy !req
400. Is that what you
saying to me?Copy !req
401. Uh, n-no, no.Copy !req
402. Yes!Copy !req
403. I'm sayingCopy !req
404. what would people thinkCopy !req
405. if I'm allowing a
serial killer to roam
the neighborhood?Copy !req
406. I hadn't seen spin like that
since Usher battled Omarion.Copy !req
407. I don't know
if you noticed or not,Copy !req
408. but ain't nobody
in the neighborhoodCopy !req
409. except that killer
and my baby!Copy !req
410. My story had pulled the wool
over the community's eyes,Copy !req
411. but Doc's eyes
weren't woolly at all.Copy !req
412. Who keeps taking
these posters down?Copy !req
413. Now, Chris, let me see
if I understand this correctly.Copy !req
414. The killer
came over hereCopy !req
415. and spontaneously
confessed to youCopy !req
416. about his murderous
past in Syracuse,Copy !req
417. Albany and Pittsburgh.Copy !req
418. Is that about right?Copy !req
419. Yeah, if by right,
you mean wrong.Copy !req
420. Yeah, kind of.Copy !req
421. Oh, what part of
that did I get wrong?Copy !req
422. The part about the killer
coming out here.Copy !req
423. Chris, you've got this
whole neighborhood terrified.Copy !req
424. Ain't nobody
on the streets.Copy !req
425. Ain't nobody out here, ain't
nobody coming in the store.Copy !req
426. I'm sorry; it's just that
I want to be remembered.Copy !req
427. Chris, you can't base
your legacy on lies.Copy !req
428. Now, you got to go and
tell somebody what you did.Copy !req
429. Walking home,
I couldn't help thinkingCopy !req
430. that my street was usually
filled with life,Copy !req
431. and now it was an empty
wasteland, all because of me.Copy !req
432. I felt worse
than food poisoning.Copy !req
433. Little dude from across
the street... come here, man.Copy !req
434. Man, what you
doing out there?Copy !req
435. Don't you know there's
a killer on the streets?Copy !req
436. Nah, I'll be all right.Copy !req
437. Let me hold a dollar.Copy !req
438. Be safe out here.Copy !req
439. Did I just get mugged
from a window?Copy !req
440. Not only was Brooklyn filled
with fear,Copy !req
441. it was filled with reporters.Copy !req
442. Today, the streets of
Bedford Stuyvesant are deserted.Copy !req
443. All of the murderers,
rapists and Black peopleCopy !req
444. who normally populate
these streetsCopy !req
445. are behind
closed doors.Copy !req
446. And yet, it
is no safer,Copy !req
447. because of one man—
the Scissor Killer.Copy !req
448. There's the young man
that-that broke the story.Copy !req
449. Let's see if we can get a word.
Young man... what we... how...Copy !req
450. Can you tell us any
more about the killer?Copy !req
451. What kind of sweat
socks did he use?Copy !req
452. How did you get away?
How did you get him...?Copy !req
453. The thing I was most afraid ofCopy !req
454. was telling my parents
I'd made up the story.Copy !req
455. I couldn't think
of anything worse.Copy !req
456. Hello, worse.Copy !req
457. Oh, my God, Chris,
where have you been?Copy !req
458. I was so worried
about you!Copy !req
459. Your daddy is
on his way home.Copy !req
460. This detective wants
to talk to you.Copy !req
461. If you're Black,Copy !req
462. that's a sentence
you never want to hear.Copy !req
463. Listen, Chris, we need a
description of the killer.Copy !req
464. Give me a second
to make one up.Copy !req
465. Well, he's Black,Copy !req
466. um, five-two,
light skin, uh, afro?Copy !req
467. He stopped listening
after Black.Copy !req
468. What's going on?
There he is!Copy !req
469. On the floor, now!
No! No! No, no, no, no, no!Copy !req
470. Hey! Oh, oh, oh!
You're going
to fry for this one!Copy !req
471. Hey! Chris!
You got the wrong person!Copy !req
472. No, no, no! That's my father.
He's not a killer!Copy !req
473. How do you know?Copy !req
474. If I didn't tell the truth,Copy !req
475. there was going
to be an obituary.Copy !req
476. 'Cause there is
no killer.Copy !req
477. What?Copy !req
478. You better explain
yourself, Chris.Copy !req
479. I made it up.Copy !req
480. When I handed in my story
to the school newspaper,Copy !req
481. they said it was so dull that
they wouldn't even print it,Copy !req
482. so I made the story a little bit
more interesting to read.Copy !req
483. I'm sorry.Copy !req
484. There's a gun pointing at
your daddy's head right now,Copy !req
485. and you're sorry?Copy !req
486. Lamar Johnson's
campaignCopy !req
487. is falling apart,
and you're sorry.Copy !req
488. People are running
around this neighborhoodCopy !req
489. just scared to death,
and you're sorry.Copy !req
490. Boy, you don't know
what sorry is.Copy !req
491. I'm going to ask you
one more time, ma'am:Copy !req
492. Do you know this man?Copy !req
493. Yes! That's my husband,Copy !req
494. for God sakes!Copy !req
495. Son,Copy !req
496. you've got a knack
for inventing evidence.Copy !req
497. You might want to consider
a career in law enforcement.Copy !req
498. In a moment,
I might need a cop myself.Copy !req
499. All I did was stretch the truth.Copy !req
500. Oh, that's a
coincidence,Copy !req
501. 'cause I'm about to
stretch your behind.Copy !req
502. Get upstairs!Copy !req
503. After my mother
set me straight,Copy !req
504. I had to set
the story straight.Copy !req
505. You made it up?
Well, I'm sorry.Copy !req
506. I was just giving the people
what they want.Copy !req
507. Oh, this is
just great.Copy !req
508. All the real killers
running around Bed-Stuy, and youCopy !req
509. had to make one up.Copy !req
510. That's just lazy.
What else did you make up?Copy !req
511. Is your real
name Chris?Copy !req
512. Are you
even Black?Copy !req
513. Who knows?Copy !req
514. This is so disappointing.Copy !req
515. You're the first
Black writer in the
school's history.Copy !req
516. I was the first Black
everythingCopy !req
517. in the school's history.Copy !req
518. You reach reporter status,
and you make up your story?Copy !req
519. What will your
people think of you?Copy !req
520. You just had to lie,
didn't you, Aesop?Copy !req
521. Hey, dude.Copy !req
522. So, I gave the people what
they want, and now look at me.Copy !req
523. Sometimes people don't
like what they want
after they get it.Copy !req
524. I wonder if he'll want my footCopy !req
525. in his behind
after he gets that.Copy !req
526. I got the yearbook.Copy !req
527. I learned a couple of important
things from this whole fiasco.Copy !req
528. Number one,
I learned the word legacy.Copy !req
529. Number two, people are suckersCopy !req
530. for a serial
Scissor Killer story.Copy !req
531. And C— hey, I could write.Copy !req
532. But best of all,Copy !req
533. I finally did get
something writtenCopy !req
534. under my school
yearbook picture.Copy !req
