1. I don't understand why
we have to drive seven hours
to see a psychiatrist.Copy !req
2. Because... (sighs)
we want the best care
possible for you.Copy !req
3. When Jules was
eleven years old,Copy !req
4. her mother took her
on a road trip.Copy !req
5. - Wasn't Dali, like,
a sexual predator?
- Was he?Copy !req
6. I hadn't heard that before.Copy !req
7. Would you like me
to take it down?Copy !req
8. No. It's a cool painting.Copy !req
9. It is a cool painting.Copy !req
10. He was actually
really sweet, though.Copy !req
11. They talked for over an hour,Copy !req
12. and only later
did Jules realize
that she hadn't lied once.Copy !req
13. After the session, they wanted
to give her a tour of the Unit.Copy !req
14. - Well, what's the Unit?
- Dr. Think of it like
a second home,Copy !req
15. where children can learn how
to feel better about themselves.Copy !req
16. (hesitantly):
Okay.Copy !req
17. Let me give you a tour.Copy !req
18. So, this is our common area,Copy !req
19. where we have group sessions,Copy !req
20. watch movies, play games,Copy !req
21. have art class.Copy !req
22. Um, on Tuesdays we have
canine therapy.Copy !req
23. Uh, Thursdays we have
music therapy.Copy !req
24. - Boy: Dr. Kay!
- Allan!Copy !req
25. Suck my dick, you fucking cunt!Copy !req
26. - Dr. Allan!
- (boy cursing indistinctly)Copy !req
27. Dr.
Usually there's two to a room,Copy !req
28. depending on how many patients
are with us.Copy !req
29. So the kids live here?Copy !req
30. For short periods of time.Copy !req
31. And this is the quiet room.Copy !req
32. I'm gonna fucking
rape you, Dr. Kay!Copy !req
33. - (pounds wall)
- You just bought yourselfCopy !req
34. another 30 minutes
in the quiet room, Jesse.Copy !req
35. - (spits)
- Rue: It was around then
when Jules thoughtCopy !req
36. she had just about
had enough of the tour.Copy !req
37. I think I wanna go home.Copy !req
38. And that's when
Jules realized,Copy !req
39. this wasn't a tour at all.Copy !req
40. It was an elaborate plan
to admit herCopy !req
41. to a fucking
psychiatric hospital.Copy !req
42. Mom! Mom!Copy !req
43. No, no, no, no, no!Copy !req
44. (screaming):
No! No! No!Copy !req
45. During the ensuing struggle,
Jules accidentallyCopy !req
46. scratched an RA
across the face,Copy !req
47. which she felt
really guilty about.Copy !req
48. But quickly, that guilt
turned into anger...Copy !req
49. and that anger,
into defeat.Copy !req
50. Hi. I'm Jules.Copy !req
51. - How are you feeling?
- Jules: Better.Copy !req
52. Good. Good.Copy !req
53. Why don't you tell the group
a little about yourself
and why you're here.Copy !req
54. I don't know.Copy !req
55. Maybe because I was, like,
sad for a really long time.Copy !req
56. What do you mean
by a long time?Copy !req
57. Maybe since I was
seven or eight or something.Copy !req
58. And I've been to see,
like, a bunch of doctors.Copy !req
59. I've been on, like,
a bunch of medications,Copy !req
60. but nothing's
really helped, so...Copy !req
61. Maybe these mitts
will do the trick.Copy !req
62. - (pen scribbles)
- And, Jules, do you self-injure?Copy !req
63. The truth was,
Jules hated herself.Copy !req
64. She hated
how her brain worked...Copy !req
65. the way it would
get stuck on a thought,Copy !req
66. - like choking.
- (coughs)Copy !req
67. All right. Keep present.Copy !req
68. And it would just play
on an infinite loop,Copy !req
69. until she couldn't thinkCopy !req
70. or breathe
or stand to be alive.Copy !req
71. David (softly): This is hard,
Jules. You're going to get
through it, okay?Copy !req
72. She didn't just
hate her brain, though.Copy !req
73. She hated her body,
not every part,Copy !req
74. just her shoulders,
and her arms,Copy !req
75. and her hands.Copy !req
76. Also her chest,
her stomach, her thighs.Copy !req
77. Her knees were the worst.Copy !req
78. Plus her ankles, and her big,
fucking, stupid feet.Copy !req
79. She hated her life,
not because it was bad,Copy !req
80. but because when you hate
your brain and your body,Copy !req
81. it's hard to enjoy the rest.Copy !req
82. So, Jules developed
a few coping mechanisms.Copy !req
83. None of them healthy,
and a few scary enough
to land her in...Copy !req
84. So, how are you
liking the Unit?Copy !req
85. It's okay.Copy !req
86. - Are you making
any friends?
- Not really.Copy !req
87. Well, that'll change.Copy !req
88. Wait. Can you leave
me the rest?Copy !req
89. Sure.Copy !req
90. - This guy did some damage.
- Jules: Allan?Copy !req
91. I did something really stupid.Copy !req
92. Is everything okay?Copy !req
93. I'm so sorry.Copy !req
94. Please don't be mad at me.Copy !req
95. Eventually Jules got better
and came home.Copy !req
96. But her mom got worse
and went away.Copy !req
97. And her dad quit his job
to be closer to home,Copy !req
98. which she liked,
'cause she loved her dad.Copy !req
99. By 13, she started
to transition.Copy !req
100. And by 16, Jules had gotten
a little slutty.Copy !req
101. And every guy was the same:Copy !req
102. cis, white, married,Copy !req
103. engaged,
in long-term relationships,Copy !req
104. and always, always...Copy !req
105. I mean,
I'm a hundred percent straight.Copy !req
106. Um, cool.Copy !req
107. So do you like top?Copy !req
108. - No.
- Cool.Copy !req
109. 'Cause that's, like,
not my thing.Copy !req
110. Some were sweet.
Some were weird.Copy !req
111. And a few were aggressive.Copy !req
112. - (gagging)
- Cal: Spit.Copy !req
113. And whenever anything
got too uncomfortable...Copy !req
114. Jules would just imagine
that she wasn't really herself,Copy !req
115. and this wasn't
really her life.Copy !req
116. She was just a character
in a book or a movie or a show.Copy !req
117. That none of it was real,
and if it was,
how did it matter?Copy !req
118. It's not like her body
ever really belonged to her
in the first place.Copy !req
119. But fuck it.
She'd save it for the memoirs.Copy !req
120. 'Cause that was the night
she met her new best friend.Copy !req
121. And although she had never
really been in a relationshipCopy !req
122. or even in, like, love,Copy !req
123. she imagined spending
the rest of her life with her.Copy !req
124. How they'd live together
in some shitty New York
apartment,Copy !req
125. and maybe date other people,
but always sleep
in the same bed.Copy !req
126. She even said it to her once,
which was probably a mistake,Copy !req
127. for, like, a lot of reasons.Copy !req
128. Plus, that was before
she fell for Tyler,Copy !req
129. like, hard,
like, really hard.Copy !req
130. What are you smiling about?Copy !req
131. I don't know.
Just... life.Copy !req
132. There's nothing
I'm really passionate about.Copy !req
133. You know, like, I'm not dying
to say or do anything, really.Copy !req
134. And every time
I admit that to people,Copy !req
135. they're like, "Oh, my gosh,
that's so sad." But...Copy !req
136. I think that's the case
for most people.Copy !req
137. You know? Like, when I look
at my mom or...Copy !req
138. like, the kids at my school—Copy !req
139. like, their profiles
or their posts
and their Tumblr rants...Copy !req
140. you realize they're all just
fucked up, too... and lost.Copy !req
141. They just have
a reason to mask it...Copy !req
142. whether it be, like,
their, their familiesCopy !req
143. or their boyfriends
or their hashtag activism.Copy !req
144. And they're just reaching
for somethingCopy !req
145. - to make it
all seem meaningful.
- Rue...Copy !req
146. But sometimes
I just sit and think...Copy !req
147. - Rue. Rue.
- ... like, what's the point?Copy !req
148. Rue, I don't give a shit.Copy !req
149. - Why'd you call me?
- Honestly...Copy !req
150. I didn't really
have anybody else
to call.Copy !req
151. Well, what happened
to make you call?Copy !req
152. Um...Copy !req
153. you know...Copy !req
154. just like...Copy !req
155. (screaming):
Open the fucking door!Copy !req
156. Fuck!Copy !req
157. just the usual bullshit.Copy !req
158. Rue, you know that drug addicts
don't reach out for helpCopy !req
159. unless there's no options.Copy !req
160. So what happened?Copy !req
161. Um...Copy !req
162. I was with my best friend.Copy !req
163. Okay, well, she's—
I mean, she's a new friend,Copy !req
164. but we hang out every day.Copy !req
165. And, um...Copy !req
166. It's stupid.
It's stupid.Copy !req
167. - Ali: What?
- I just...Copy !req
168. I misread...
the whole situation.Copy !req
169. And now it's gonna be
really, really, really...Copy !req
170. really fucking awkward.Copy !req
171. And I guess thatCopy !req
172. hanging out with her was...Copy !req
173. was the best thing
that's happened to me
in a while, so...Copy !req
174. Does the way
in which you feel about her
remind you of anything?Copy !req
175. - What do you mean?
- You know, like...
the obsession,Copy !req
176. the feelings,
the withdrawal.Copy !req
177. What, like drugs?Copy !req
178. Bingo.Copy !req
179. Okay, but this is a good thing.Copy !req
180. Didn't drugs feel real good
the first time you tried 'em?Copy !req
181. Shit.Copy !req
182. Yeah. It's gon' be
a good night, tonight, man.Copy !req
183. Let's get this money.Copy !req
184. What's good, bro?Copy !req
185. - (bell rings)
- Rue: Fuck.Copy !req
186. - Lexi: You wanna go
on the Gravitron?
- Uh, no.Copy !req
187. - The Ferris wheel?
- Nope.Copy !req
188. - Why?
- Rue: Because I
don't wanna die.Copy !req
189. Where are you? I'm standing
by the fucking Ferris wheel.Copy !req
190. I don't see you.Copy !req
191. Why do you always
do this to me?Copy !req
192. - Jules: Whoa! Whoa! Aah!
- Kat: We're gonna die, die!Copy !req
193. Oh, my God.
(screams)Copy !req
194. - (screaming, giggling)
- Stop! Stop!Copy !req
195. Stop! You're rocking
the fucking thing.Copy !req
196. - You're rocking—
- (screams) Oh, my God.Copy !req
197. Yo, are you at
this Ferris wheel
or that Ferris wheel?Copy !req
198. Well, how the fuck
am I supposed to know
which one you're at?Copy !req
199. You don't fucking tell me—Copy !req
200. Yeah, I know, I know.
I'm on my way. I—Copy !req
201. How am I supposed
to know that there's
two Ferris wheels?Copy !req
202. - Yo, why are dressed
like a hooker?
- Maddy: What?Copy !req
203. Jesus Christ, Maddy.
I'm here with my parents.Copy !req
204. - So what? It's the carnival.
- No. It's the chili cook-off.Copy !req
205. It's very important.
I can't have you hanging out
at the booth dressed like that.Copy !req
206. Yeah, well maybe
it'll sell better.Copy !req
207. Yo, this isn't
a fucking joke, okay?Copy !req
208. Why are you being
like this?Copy !req
209. - Listen, my parents
already don't like you.
- What?Copy !req
210. Go home, get changed,Copy !req
211. and come back
looking like a person.
Fuck.Copy !req
212. - Aaron: Well, did you
break up again?
- Nate: No.Copy !req
213. - Looks like you broke up again.
- No, we didn't.Copy !req
214. If you ask me,
she's a distraction.Copy !req
215. - Man: Hurry up, guy, go!
- (retching)Copy !req
216. - Crowd: Oh!
- (laughing): Ew!Copy !req
217. Hold on.Copy !req
218. Oh, my God.
Jules!Copy !req
219. Come!Copy !req
220. Hands and feet inside the ride
unless you want to die.Copy !req
221. - Hey.
- Hey.Copy !req
222. - (ride whirring)
- Kat: I'm really
fucking scared.Copy !req
223. Oh, no!Copy !req
224. - Hi.
- Hey.Copy !req
225. - I missed you.
- I missed you, too.Copy !req
226. Um, I think she's
in love with her.Copy !req
227. Really?Copy !req
228. Yeah, like...
Rue is in love
with Jules, I think.Copy !req
229. - Jules: Are you mad at me?
- No. No, no.Copy !req
230. Are you mad at me?Copy !req
231. - No.
- Okay.Copy !req
232. Don't you think?Copy !req
233. I hadn't really
thought about it.Copy !req
234. Oh. I don't know.Copy !req
235. Can we just pretend like
what I did wasn't super-weird?Copy !req
236. - It wasn't weird. It—
- It was weird, but...Copy !req
237. we don't have
to talk about it.Copy !req
238. Talk about what?Copy !req
239. - Nothing.
- Right. (laughs)Copy !req
240. Okay, um...
Anyway, I'm gonna go
catch some friends.Copy !req
241. - All right.
- Okay.Copy !req
242. - Uh-oh. Mr. Jacobs.
- Oh!Copy !req
243. - Stingray McKay.
- I see you—Copy !req
244. - I see what you got
going on over here.
- Cal: All right, chili.Copy !req
245. Let me get some.Copy !req
246. - Yo, what's up, brother?
- How you doin', man?Copy !req
247. Yo.Copy !req
248. What are you...
Are you guys, like,
in a relationship?Copy !req
249. - Nah, we're just chillin'.
- Nate: Are you just chillin'?Copy !req
250. Yeah, we're chillin'.Copy !req
251. (Nate chuckles)
Okay.Copy !req
252. - Okay.
- Why haven't I seen you
on the field?Copy !req
253. Uh... (chuckles).Copy !req
254. Just freshmen
got to earn their due,
that's all.Copy !req
255. You take that attitude,
you'll spend the rest
of your life on the bench.Copy !req
256. It's really not that big
of a deal, Mr. Jacobs.
It's just the first season.Copy !req
257. No, it is a big deal.Copy !req
258. You got one of the best
slide-steps I've ever seen.Copy !req
259. You've got promise.
You've got talent.Copy !req
260. You're not pushing yourself
hard enough.Copy !req
261. Dad, I think McKay's
gonna be just fine.Copy !req
262. I'm just trying to help him
keep a girl like her.Copy !req
263. Why? It's not like
we're in a relationship.Copy !req
264. - Plus, I don't even care
about football.
- Whoa.Copy !req
265. It's not just football.Copy !req
266. It's life.Copy !req
267. It's about maintaining
your focus.Copy !req
268. It's about putting your all
into everything you do.Copy !req
269. Why do you think I have
the business I have?Copy !req
270. Why do think I have
the family I have?Copy !req
271. The success that I have?Copy !req
272. Why do think this chiliCopy !req
273. has been voted
best chili in the county
five years in a row?Copy !req
274. 'Cause you refuse to lose.Copy !req
275. No.Copy !req
276. It's about who you want
to become in the world.Copy !req
277. I'm just lookin' out
for you.Copy !req
278. - Bye.
- Cassie.Copy !req
279. - (Nate laughing)
What the fuck is her problem?
- Come on, bro.Copy !req
280. Yo, Cass. Cass.Copy !req
281. Cass, stop.Copy !req
282. Why would you say that?Copy !req
283. That we're
just chillin'?Copy !req
284. It's not that big of a deal,
Cass. It's a figure of speech.Copy !req
285. - It is a big deal.
- It's really not.Copy !req
286. You literally just told me
that you loved me.Copy !req
287. What does that have
to do with anything?Copy !req
288. You just told Nate
that we're not even
in a fucking relationship.Copy !req
289. That's because I know the guy.
He's just gonna talk shit.Copy !req
290. - Like what?
- Like about you.Copy !req
291. Or whatever, Cassie.Copy !req
292. What do you mean,
whatever?Copy !req
293. Like whatever the fuck
you've done.Copy !req
294. What have I done, McKay?Copy !req
295. Look, I don't want
to talk about this
right now, Cass.Copy !req
296. We're in the middle
of a fucking carnival.Copy !req
297. I don't know what
you're talking about.Copy !req
298. It's not like it's that big
of a fucking secret, Cassie.Copy !req
299. You know what?
It's cool.Copy !req
300. We should just call it a night.
I gotta get back, anyway.Copy !req
301. So, what you was lookin' for?Copy !req
302. - Molly.
- Oh. She over there
workin' at the pretzel stand.Copy !req
303. Thank you.Copy !req
304. Hey.Copy !req
305. - Hey.
- You're not having fun?Copy !req
306. - No.
- Yeah, me, neither.Copy !req
307. You wanna do Molly?Copy !req
308. Welcome to Pretzelmania.
Can I take your order?Copy !req
309. How many pretzels do you want?Copy !req
310. - We don't eat carbs.
- Two, please.Copy !req
311. That'll be forty.Copy !req
312. So, you think Nate's
cheating on you?Copy !req
313. I don't know.
He's just been acting
super-weird lately.Copy !req
314. Have you gone through
his phone?Copy !req
315. I've never not gone through
someone's phone.Copy !req
316. Bitch, you're
my soul mate.Copy !req
317. Thank you.Copy !req
318. Yo, what's going on
with you and McKay?Copy !req
319. I thought you two
were in love.Copy !req
320. (Cassie scoffs)
Nate asked McKay
if were were in a relationship,Copy !req
321. and McKay said that
we were just chillin'.Copy !req
322. - What?
- Yeah.Copy !req
323. Honestly, fuck them both.Copy !req
324. Right?Copy !req
325. Okay, so if I tell you
something,Copy !req
326. you swear on your fucking life
you won't say a word?Copy !req
327. Yeah. What?Copy !req
328. I went through Nate's phone.Copy !req
329. And it was weird.Copy !req
330. - Oh, my fucking God.
- What?Copy !req
331. - That's him.
- Who?Copy !req
332. The guy.Copy !req
333. - What guy?
- The one from the motel.Copy !req
334. Okay, what guy are
we looking at, exactly?Copy !req
335. Okay, the one in the apron,
serving the chili.Copy !req
336. - I swear to God.
- No fucking way. Jules,
do you know who that is?Copy !req
337. - Yeah, the guy from the motel.
- That's Cal Jacobs.Copy !req
338. - Who's that?
- Nate Jacobs's dad.Copy !req
339. - That's Nate's dad?
- Yes, that's Nate's dad.Copy !req
340. - No fucking way!
- Yes, fucking way.Copy !req
341. - You're full of shit.
- No way.Copy !req
342. You're full of shit.Copy !req
343. Do you—
Do you know who he is?Copy !req
344. He fucking owns
half this town.
He built it.Copy !req
345. All the apartment buildings
past Kemper, they're his.Copy !req
346. - Rue, I swear to God.
- There's no way.Copy !req
347. - That's the guy I fucked.
- There's no way.Copy !req
348. Bullshit.Copy !req
349. I'm being
a hundred percent serious.Copy !req
350. - You— You don't believe me?
- No, actually.Copy !req
351. - I don't.
- Okay. Watch.Copy !req
352. - Jules: Excuse me, sir.
- Cal: Hmm?Copy !req
353. Hi. Can I help you?Copy !req
354. Uh, can I please have
a small cup of chili?Copy !req
355. Yeah, sure.Copy !req
356. Oh.Copy !req
357. Shoot.Copy !req
358. Sorry.Copy !req
359. Uh, it— it's okay.
It was my fault.Copy !req
360. I'll get you another cup.Copy !req
361. Hi. It's two dollars.
All the proceeds go
to the football team.Copy !req
362. Uh... cool.Copy !req
363. Thank you.Copy !req
364. Thanks.Copy !req
365. Yo, Nate, who was that?Copy !req
366. Her name's Jules.
She's new here.Copy !req
367. She goes to East Highland?Copy !req
368. Yeah. She's a junior.Copy !req
369. Damn. That's jailbait.Copy !req
370. That's too bad.Copy !req
371. - Rue: ... nuts!
- Jules: Why the fuck
did you let me do that?Copy !req
372. I didn't let you do that!
You just fucking—Copy !req
373. You just did it.
You went over there
and you did it. (scoffs)Copy !req
374. Did you see that
his hands were fucking shaking?Copy !req
375. - Yes, and then he dropped—
- And then he fucking
dropped the chili!Copy !req
376. - Oh, my God.
- He dropped
the fucking chili.Copy !req
377. Oh, he dropped
the fucking chili.
And then he—Copy !req
378. And then you looked at me.Copy !req
379. Yeah, because
I was screaming inside.Copy !req
380. Yeah, well, that made him
fucking look at me.Copy !req
381. - He looked at me
in the fucking eyes.
- I'm sorry.Copy !req
382. (groans) I feel so bad.
That was literally
the meanest thingCopy !req
383. - I've ever done.
- Oh, shit, hold on.
It's my mom.Copy !req
384. Hey, Mom.Copy !req
385. Yeah. Yeah, no.Copy !req
386. Well, because she's been
in the Gravitron for like
20 straight minutes.Copy !req
387. Yes, yes. I promise.
We will be home by ten.Copy !req
388. Okay, I love you, too.Copy !req
389. Apparently, Gia's
not answering her phone.Copy !req
390. - Jules: Uh...
- It's just going
straight to voicemail.Copy !req
391. It burns.Copy !req
392. It's so weird
to think that, like,Copy !req
393. no matter what happens,Copy !req
394. the universe is just out here
giving, like, zero fucks.Copy !req
395. Wow.Copy !req
396. - Gia: You look super cute.
- Emma: Thanks. You, too.
I love that shirt.Copy !req
397. Thank you.
Even though I have
the same body as Bruno Mars.Copy !req
398. - Shut up, you look hot.
- No, I don't.Copy !req
399. - Yes, you do.
- No, I don't, 'cause these
right here, they're cutlets.Copy !req
400. No, they're not.
Trust me, these guys
are super chill, okay?Copy !req
401. Do not worry.Copy !req
402. - Your mom's, like,
all organic, right?
- Oh, yeah. Yeah.Copy !req
403. - There's your issue.
- What do you mean?Copy !req
404. Uh, organic food
doesn't have any
good hormones.Copy !req
405. You gotta get her to buy, like,
the regular stuff, okay?Copy !req
406. What's the regular stuff?Copy !req
407. - Trust me. Oh, and milk,
and milk.
- Gia: No!Copy !req
408. - I hate milk!
- At least three glasses a day.
Three glasses.Copy !req
409. That's how I went
from a small A to a full B.Copy !req
410. - (Gia groans)
- Mm-hmm.Copy !req
411. - Fine, I'll try it.
- I'm telling you.Copy !req
412. - You gotta do it.
- How old are the boys again?Copy !req
413. They're, like, our age.
Yeah.Copy !req
414. - (Ethan laughs)
- Kat: That's a lot.Copy !req
415. - I know.
- They are so good.Copy !req
416. - Right?
- I could drink these, like,
every day of my life.Copy !req
417. Yes. Uh, how 'bout you grab
another slushie,Copy !req
418. I go get more tickets,
and then get super drunk
and ride the Ferris wheel?Copy !req
419. Deal.Copy !req
420. - Okay.
- Okay. All right.Copy !req
421. - All right.
- (both laugh)Copy !req
422. - Thank you.
- No problem.Copy !req
423. Just tell your sister
I really need herCopy !req
424. - to cover my shift
on Wednesday.
- Okay.Copy !req
425. For real.
She's not answering
any of my texts.Copy !req
426. I promise you
I will say something.Copy !req
427. I'm supposed to meet
my boyfriend's family
for the first time.Copy !req
428. It's really important.Copy !req
429. Yeah, I got you.Copy !req
430. Thank you.
You're the best.Copy !req
431. - Maddy: Honestly,
fuck that whole family.
- Cassie: For real.Copy !req
432. 'Cause right now
I'm looking at a thousand
versions of myself,Copy !req
433. and not only do I look good,
I fucking feel good.Copy !req
434. - It's a bitch.
- So, if they've got
something to say,Copy !req
435. they should just say it
to my face, right?Copy !req
436. - Or you could just say it
to their fucking face.
- Right?Copy !req
437. That's what I would do.Copy !req
438. - I feel like this
is a turning point.
- Totally.Copy !req
439. We should just pick
the hottest,Copy !req
440. most confident,
bad bitch version of ourselves,Copy !req
441. and be that for the rest
of the school year.Copy !req
442. - Maddy: Yo.
- (both laugh)Copy !req
443. And this year's winner
of the chili cook-off is...Copy !req
444. Cal Jacobs!Copy !req
445. - (crowd cheering)
- Make it six years and running!Copy !req
446. Yeah, I'm not supposed
to be here right now,Copy !req
447. because I'm dressed
like a hooker,Copy !req
448. and none of you like me,Copy !req
449. but I just wanted to say
congratulations.Copy !req
450. Maddy, get out of—Copy !req
451. - (clattering)
- Crowd: Ooh!Copy !req
452. What in God's name
is your problem?Copy !req
453. - You, cunt.
- (crowd gasps)Copy !req
454. - Hey.
- 'Sup, Cass?Copy !req
455. You wanna ride the carousel?Copy !req
456. Cool.Copy !req
457. Shit.
She's not answering.Copy !req
458. - It's just going straight
to voicemail.
- I mean, she can't be too far.Copy !req
459. Well, I have to get her home
in like, 30 minutes.Copy !req
460. - Gia!
- Gia!Copy !req
461. Excuse me. Sorry.Copy !req
462. Gia!Copy !req
463. - Gia!
- Rue: Gia!Copy !req
464. Fuck. Okay. Uh...Copy !req
465. It'd be faster
if we split up.Copy !req
466. - Yeah. Okay.
Text me. Thank you.
- Okay.Copy !req
467. - (Maddy giggling)
- Nate: I'm not gonna let you
fucking embarrass meCopy !req
468. like that again,
I swear to fucking God.Copy !req
469. Shut the fuck up!
I'm fucking done with you!Copy !req
470. - I'm so fucking done with you.
- Maddy: So what else is new?Copy !req
471. - I'm not fucking joking.
- Yeah, fucking right.
(giggles)Copy !req
472. Calling my mom a cunt.
What the fuck is actually wrongCopy !req
473. - with your fucking brain?
- I think you're overreacting.Copy !req
474. You're fucking dead to me.Copy !req
475. - (Maddy wheezes)
- Fuck you.Copy !req
476. - I do have one question, though.
- Yo, what?Copy !req
477. Man, I'm telling you,
that girl has some real,
fucking issues.Copy !req
478. I have to use the bathroom.Copy !req
479. - (fireworks popping, whistling)
- Gia!Copy !req
480. Gia!Copy !req
481. Gia!Copy !req
482. Got an extra cigarette?Copy !req
483. Damn, you're so fucking hot.Copy !req
484. I could ride
the carousel for hours!Copy !req
485. - Emma. Yo.
- Yo, Rue. What up?Copy !req
486. - Have you seen Gia?
- Yeah, like, over there.Copy !req
487. - Over where? Where is she?
- You know. Like, the Gravitron.Copy !req
488. - Is she in the Gravitron?
- No, she's like, by it.Copy !req
489. I— I really have to pee.Copy !req
490. Gia!Copy !req
491. Gia!Copy !req
492. Gia!Copy !req
493. Aren't you Luke Kasten?Copy !req
494. Yeah.Copy !req
495. You used to go
to East Highland, right?Copy !req
496. Yeah, like,
fuckin' forever ago.Copy !req
497. I used to hear stories
about you, like, all the time
in middle school.Copy !req
498. Oh, yeah?
What kind of stories?Copy !req
499. That you had a...Copy !req
500. have a really big dick
and fucked every girl
in your grade.Copy !req
501. Basically.Copy !req
502. That's cool.Copy !req
503. How old are you?Copy !req
504. Sixteen.Copy !req
505. I'm just saying,
as your girlfriend,Copy !req
506. those pictures
are a little suspicious.Copy !req
507. It's not what it looks like.Copy !req
508. Yeah? Well, then,
explain to me
why you haveCopy !req
509. someone else's
dick in your phone.Copy !req
510. It's really
fucking complicated.Copy !req
511. How many reasons
could there be?Copy !req
512. I can't explain it
to you right now.Copy !req
513. Yeah, what does that mean?Copy !req
514. Look, I'm going through
a lot of shit right now.Copy !req
515. I need— I just—
I need you to promise meCopy !req
516. that you're not gonna
tell a soul.Copy !req
517. I am not gonna
tell anyone, I promise.Copy !req
518. - Like, on your life.
- Yeah, on my life.Copy !req
519. I'm sorry I got so angry
at you before.Copy !req
520. I am sorry.Copy !req
521. I'm sorry.Copy !req
522. I love you.Copy !req
523. Maddy, I love you.Copy !req
524. I got a lot of sh...Copy !req
525. a lot of shit
going on right now
and I'm really confused.Copy !req
526. I don't know what to do.Copy !req
527. Mmm!Copy !req
528. Ho, ho, ho. Nasty!Copy !req
529. Gia!Copy !req
530. What the hell?
I've been calling you.Copy !req
531. Rue.Copy !req
532. - Are you stoned right now?
- Nah. Um-mm.Copy !req
533. - Troy: We're just chillin'.
- Gia: Yeah, that's my sister.Copy !req
534. - Yo, Roy.
- What's up?Copy !req
535. This is Rue's little sis.Copy !req
536. Oh, yeah. I knew that
by the way she was
hittin' the weed.Copy !req
537. - (laughter)
- That's me.Copy !req
538. All right, Gia, get up.
Let's go.Copy !req
539. What do you mean, let's go?
You see we're havingCopy !req
540. a funky good time.Copy !req
541. - That's great.
- I'm having the best time.Copy !req
542. - We need to go, now.
- We having the best time.Copy !req
543. Gia, get the fuck up
and let's go.Copy !req
544. - I'm not playing with you.
Let's go.
- Troy: Wow.Copy !req
545. What'd you do?
Decide to just clean up,Copy !req
546. - and, like, oh, I wanna
become a mom? Like...
- Right?Copy !req
547. - Relax.
- Rue: Gia, get the fuck up.
Let's go.Copy !req
548. - Now.
- Mom.
What's your problem, Mom?Copy !req
549. - Hey, if she's a mom,
you know she a MILF.
- (laughter)Copy !req
550. - (laughing)
- Get up.Copy !req
551. Yo, for real. When'd you
become such a bitch?Copy !req
552. Excuse me?Copy !req
553. Was it after
you fuckin' OD'd?Copy !req
554. Yeah. It's good.
I know it's only weed,Copy !req
555. but you might get addicted.Copy !req
556. Get up.Copy !req
557. Just hope you don't
get addicted again.Copy !req
558. All I'm saying is,
if I were you,Copy !req
559. I wouldn't be taking
advice from her.Copy !req
560. Yo. Text me.Copy !req
561. Don't do that shit again,
all right?Copy !req
562. You fucking scared me.Copy !req
563. Hey.Copy !req
564. Look, I know you have the power
to ruin my life right now.Copy !req
565. I'm begging you,Copy !req
566. pleading with you,Copy !req
567. please don't.Copy !req
568. I know you already
told your friend.
I saw her look at me.Copy !req
569. She won't tell anyone.Copy !req
570. - I promise.
- 'Cause if this ever came out,Copy !req
571. I'd lose everything.
I'd lose everything.Copy !req
572. I'll do whatever
you want me to do.Copy !req
573. I have no intention
of, like, hurting you
or anything.Copy !req
574. I'm sorry about earlier.Copy !req
575. That was kind of dumb.Copy !req
576. That's okay.Copy !req
577. I just wanted to...Copy !req
578. It won't be a thing.Copy !req
579. - Don't worry.
- Thank you.Copy !req
580. Thank you so much.Copy !req
581. Where were you?Copy !req
582. - What's wrong?
- I just think the Molly's, like,
way too strong or something.Copy !req
583. So... did you come?Copy !req
584. No.Copy !req
585. Uh, do you think
Mom's gonna beCopy !req
586. sitting in the living room
when we get there?Copy !req
587. - No, she won't.
- Okay.Copy !req
588. Because, if, um...Copy !req
589. If I walked in there,
I wouldn't know what to say.Copy !req
590. - I wouldn't say hi.
- No, she's—
She's gonna be in her bed.Copy !req
591. Trust me. Look, I need you,
when we get home,Copy !req
592. to just go straight
to your room and hide
under the covers. Okay?Copy !req
593. Just let me deal with her.Copy !req
594. Wh-what are you
gonna tell her?Copy !req
595. (sighs)
I don't know yet.Copy !req
596. - (giggles)
- What are you laughing at?Copy !req
597. - You good? (laughs)
- (Gia giggles)Copy !req
598. Come here.Copy !req
599. She's still a little sick
from riding the Gravitron
so many times.Copy !req
600. - Leslie: Should I check on her?
- Oh, no. It's good. I got it.Copy !req
601. Thank you for looking out
for her tonight.Copy !req
602. - Of course.
- Love you.Copy !req
603. - Love you, too.
Good night, Mom.
- Good night.Copy !req
604. Hey. Shut the door.Copy !req
605. Hey.Copy !req
606. Tyler?Copy !req
607. No. No!Copy !req
608. No, I'm not trying
to hurt you. I'm not.Copy !req
609. I'm not here to hurt you.Copy !req
610. I know that you have
these ideas about me,Copy !req
611. based on the first time
that we met,
and I understand that.Copy !req
612. But I'm not the person
that you met that night.Copy !req
613. Can you let go of me?Copy !req
614. You know,
over the past few weeks...Copy !req
615. I've spent...Copy !req
616. every moment of every day
getting to know you.Copy !req
617. At night...Copy !req
618. I fall asleep to you.Copy !req
619. And in the morning...Copy !req
620. I wake up to you.Copy !req
621. I kind of feel closer to you
than I do to anyone
in the whole world.Copy !req
622. (sniffles)
I don't trust you, Nate.Copy !req
623. I don't trust you, either.Copy !req
624. - (whispers):
Open your mouth.
- (whispers) Nate...Copy !req
625. Wider.Copy !req
626. Nate. Nate, stop.Copy !req
627. God, are
you broken inside.Copy !req
628. And that's precisely why
I don't trust you.Copy !req
629. Because you're so broken
you don't even trust yourself.Copy !req
630. And that's scary.Copy !req
631. Not just for you,
but for me.Copy !req
632. And for my entire family.Copy !req
633. I wouldn't answer that.
You're gonna wanna hear this.Copy !req
634. Over the last three weeks,Copy !req
635. you have knowingly
produced and distributed
child pornography.Copy !req
636. Including obscene images
that were taken
on school property.Copy !req
637. I've compiled
all these photos,Copy !req
638. along with an IP address,
and an account that's linked
to your name.Copy !req
639. I don't know if you're familiar
with child pornography laws
in this state.Copy !req
640. But they apply to minors
just as they apply to adults.Copy !req
641. I sent them to you.Copy !req
642. No. You sent themCopy !req
643. to an account of a person
that doesn't fucking exist.Copy !req
644. And I mean,
anyone can anonymously report
child pornography, right?Copy !req
645. - Then I'd tell
them everything.
- Okay.Copy !req
646. You could do that, but, um...Copy !req
647. here's what would
definitely happen.Copy !req
648. You'd end up on
a sex offenders list.Copy !req
649. It means no more college.Copy !req
650. It's gonna be
very fucking difficult
to find a job.Copy !req
651. And everywhere you go,Copy !req
652. for the rest of your life,Copy !req
653. you'll be harassed,
and spat at,Copy !req
654. and treated like
a fucking animal.Copy !req
655. You deserve better than that.
'Cause I know you.Copy !req
656. You're kind.Copy !req
657. You're smart.
You're generous.Copy !req
658. You got a big heart.Copy !req
659. You deserve whatever
the fuck it is in this world
that you want.Copy !req
660. So keep your head down.Copy !req
661. Keep your mouth shut.Copy !req
662. Don't try to ruin my life,Copy !req
663. and I won't have to ruin yours.Copy !req
664. You know what I think?Copy !req
665. I think you're a fucking faggot,
just like your daddy.Copy !req
666. You have a nice night.Copy !req
667. - Hey.
- Hey. Do you think I could,
uh, sleep over?Copy !req
668. Yeah. Yeah, of course.
Come on.Copy !req
669. Is everything okay?Copy !req
670. Um...Copy !req
671. Here.Copy !req
672. So how'd the date go with Tyler?Copy !req
673. Um...Copy !req
674. He didn't look like
his picture.Copy !req
675. Come here.Copy !req
676. Are you sure you're okay?Copy !req
677. What?Copy !req
