1. Merlin, cease these games and tell me truly, is this the time?

2. - Time for what? - Thou does not know, truly?

3. Do you think he'd be asking if he did, tinhead?

4. Why, the answer to Excalibur's call. The time of restitution.

5. The time when Arthur rises to lead the Britons to war.

6. Vortigern's Lake, of course!

7. - Can you walk? - Can someone answer a simple question?

8. What's wrong, Doctor?

9. Can someone tell me what on earth is going on?

10. If my hunch is right, the Earth could be at the centre of a war

11. that doesn't even belong to this dimension!

12. Freeze! Everyone stand, nice and easy.

13. Listen, Winifred, we've got to be somewhere urgently,

14. so please get out of the way.

15. You're under arrest. You and your freaky friends.

16. Who are you calling freaky?

17. I can sort this out. Look, if I can just explain...

18. Kill them! Kill them now!

19. I'm an armed military officer. You are under arrest.

20. Lay your weapons down and put your hands in the air.

21. Winifred, this is not the way.

22. Put the guns down!

23. Listen, now that we're all here,

24. let me introduce myself. I am the Doctor, and this is...

25. - Mordred. - Ancelyn.

26. Fitting that you should die amongst peasants.

27. Look again, Mordred.

28. You recognise me?

29. Merlin!

30. Not again!

31. You were bound.

32. My mother sealed you into the ice caves for all eternity.

33. I am the master of time. I cannot be bound so easily.

34. - Master of lies. - Beware your tongue, Mordred.

35. Have you so easily forgotten Baden? Hmm.

36. Where he cast down your mother with his mighty arts?

37. Yes. Remember Baden and my mighty arts.

38. Do you think I would use my trickery against someone as formidable as you?

39. Go before I unleash a terrible something on you.

40. Go, Mordred, while you still live.

41. There will be a reckoning, Ancelyn. I have sworn it.

42. As for you, Merlin,

43. my mother has waited twelve centuries to face you.

44. You will bow down before her this time.

45. - Who was he? - That was Mordred.

46. And his mother is Morgaine, a mighty sorceress.

47. - You know these guys, then? - Never met them before.

48. ATC Docklands, this is Uniform November niner-zero.

49. Request clearance for London Central. Over.

50. Thank you, Docklands. Over.

51. We are clear all the way to London, sir.

52. Right, I want an exclusion zone around the whole of the Carbury area

53. extending for one mile.

54. One and a half kilometres outside the limit of radio jamming.

55. - Sir. - Oh, and, Lavel.

56. Sir?

57. The officer who requested the information on the Doctor,

58. this Brigadier Bambera.

59. Good man, is he?

60. Brigadier Bambera, if we're going to work together,

61. you've got to stop shooting at everything that moves.

62. Not you. I want to talk to you.

63. I am Ancelyn ap Gwalchmai. Knight General of the Britons.

64. - I do not talk to peasants. - You'll talk to me!

65. Professor!

66. Oh, ignore them. They're just establishing their credentials.

67. - They've got a funny way of doing it. - Don't worry about them.

68. What should we worry about?

69. Sorcery.

70. Here is the convocation.

71. This we make the meeting place.

72. The point between two worlds.

73. Two universes.

74. Two realities.

75. - No one's to go outside. - I heard gun shots earlier.

76. - Exactly. Why not?

77. There are things out there in the dark you wouldn't want to meet.

78. What was that?

79. Come on, move it, will you? Get in.

80. - Brigadier Bambera. - What happened to you?

81. She vanquished me and I threw myself on her mercy.

82. As of now, I'm in charge.

83. Everyone remain calm, we'll soon have everything under control.

84. I doubt that.

85. By this sword, brother to Excalibur,

86. I part the curtain of night.

87. - What's that noise? - What noise?

88. That noise!

89. Which way does that wall face?

90. Excuse me, but three inches to the left...

91. North, towards the lake.

92. Roger, Docklands ATC. Commencing approach now.

93. We'll be landing in London shortly, sir.

94. Across the abyss, life calls to life,

95. biomass to biomass, energy to energy.

96. To Avallion I summon thee

97. from beyond the confines of this universe.

98. - Another storm, just what we need. - Stay where you are.

99. An earthquake?

100. - Doctor! - What's going on, Doctor?

101. I don't know.

102. But I've got some nasty suspicions.

103. - An earthquake in England? - No.

104. Someone is creating a rip in the fabric of time and space.

105. She is coming.

106. What are you talking about? Who's coming?

107. - You can feel it? - Yes, I'm uniquely sensitive.

108. (SCREAMS) Ughhh!

109. Doctor!

110. What is it?

111. Immortal Morgaine. Ageless and deathless.

112. Mordred.

113. Mother.

114. - Merlin is here. - Yes. I can feel his presence.

115. He has a new countenance.

116. He has worn many faces.

117. Merlin, hear me.

118. I hear you.

119. Do not stand against me this time,

120. for your soul's sake.

121. I cannot allow your interference.

122. Then, Merlin, let this be our last battlefield.

123. Good morning.

124. - How did it go, sir? - Oh, usual bureaucracy.

125. Inch-thick forms and half a pint of blood.

126. That's London for you.

127. Funny how it looks beautiful at sunrise.

128. Never noticed. Seen one heliport and you've seen them all.

129. - Where now, sir? - Carbury. Where the action is.

130. And you excavated all this by yourself?

131. Labour of love, really. Impressive.

132. And I did have some help from Shou Yuing.

133. And where did you find the scabbard?

134. By that marker.

135. - How long did it take? - Oh, about ten years so far.

136. Ten years?

137. Archaeology is a precise and delicate skill.

138. History has to be eased out of the earth,

139. one painstaking layer at a time.

140. I still think ten years is a bit of a long time.

141. - What's this? - Ah, now, that's a bit of a mystery.

142. No one's been able to decipher the carving.

143. It says "Dig hole here".

144. Extraordinary! What does it say that in?

145. My handwriting. Ace, we need a hole.

146. Right. How long?

147. Um, 60 seconds should be long enough.

148. Long enough for what?

149. Nothing to worry about.

150. My young friend's something of an expert.

151. What? In archaeology?

152. - No. Explosives. Down! - What?

153. - Ace? - I think the timer needs work.

154. One of these days, we're going to have a nice, long talk

155. about acceptable safety standards.

156. - Has Major Husak reported in yet? - No, sir.

157. London says that the area of radio interference is expanding.

158. Mmm. Well, see if you can raise him from here.

159. Well, can you speak Czechoslovakian?

160. Only when I'm drunk, sir.

161. He'd better not be gone when we get there.

162. You cannot hold the Doctor, he goes where he will.

163. - Shut up and run, Ancelyn. - My lady.

164. You call me "my lady" once more and I'll break your nose.

165. I can't see anybody around.

166. Looks like some damage to that barn.

167. I can see a possible landing zone. Everything looks peaceful.

168. Yes. Very peaceful.

169. - Are you armed, Lieutenant? - Yes, sir!

170. Well, check it's loaded and take us in.

171. - What can you see? - A flying machine.

172. 'Tis like an ornithopter but with whirling blades for wings.

173. The people of this world are obsessed with machinery.

174. It would seem so.

175. Well, then.

176. Let us teach them the limitations of their technologies.

177. Malfunction, sir. - What?

178. It felt like something hit us. This could be rough.

179. What's down there?

180. Don't ask me. I've only been excavating this site for ten years.

181. With a bit of luck, a tunnel.

182. A dark, mysterious one? Probably.

183. Leading to unknown dangers? Indubitably.

184. Wicked!

185. Peter, Ace and I are going to investigate this tunnel.

186. You stay here and guard it. Don't let anyone come in here.

187. What am I supposed to do?

188. - Lecture them on archaeology? - Yes.

189. Can you get us down?

190. Down is not the problem.

191. - It's damp. - Well, we are under the lake.

192. - And this wall's made of concrete. - Hmm.

193. It's gone soft with age.

194. This was built in the eighth century.

195. But they didn't have concrete in those days.

196. - No, they didn't. - Thought so.

197. - Doctor? - Ah, don't worry, Ace.

198. It's only a trap.

199. £5 million worth of aircraft and we've lost it.

200. If they make us pay for that...

201. We'll be poor for the rest of our lives.

202. Pulled a ligament?

203. Good. I thought it might be something serious.

204. I'll see if I can get some help from the village.

205. But, sir, we don't know what the situation is here.

206. The situation, Lavel, is normal. It doesn't get much worse than that.

207. You know, I think I'm rather enjoying this.

208. "Tis a shrine to those fallen in battle."

209. So...

210. They are not the savages you led us to believe.

211. You fought on their soil without proper respect for the dead.

212. - Mother, I... - You have dishonoured us, Mordred.

213. What is victory without honour?

214. Leave us!

215. What manner of man are you?

216. A warrior no less. How goes the day?

217. I've had better.

218. I am Morgaine. The sun killer.

219. Dominator of the thirteen worlds and battle queen of the S'Rax.

220. What say you?

221. I am Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart.

222. Surrender now, and we can avoid bloodshed.

223. Where's the Doctor?

224. Did you know that it takes one year

225. to uncover one centimetre of a site this big?

226. But now, delay not.

227. "Take the sword and fling him far into the middle mere."

228. "Watch what thou seeist and lightly bring me word."

229. Ancelyn's people must have built this tunnel.

230. Looks fishy to me!

231. This is no place for humour.

232. - Professor? - Hmm?

233. - Where does Ancelyn come from? - Another dimension.

234. Sideways in time from another universe.

235. Not a local boy, then?

236. The question is, how do we get through here?

237. Let me see if I have understood you correctly.

238. You are holding a remembrance ceremony for the dead of our World Wars?

239. A ceasefire to remain in force for the duration of said ceremony, right?

240. Your words are strange, but that is the meaning, yes.

241. Right. What must I do?

242. No coded pattern?

243. No hidden switches.

244. Well, how are we going to get through the door, then?

245. Open up, it's me.

246. I wish you to know that I bear you no malice.

247. I understand.

248. But when we meet again, I shall kill you.

249. I refuse to ask how you did that.

250. How did you do that?

251. Well, it came to me that it wasn't Ancelyn's people who built this tunnel.

252. - It was Merlin. - But everyone thinks that you're Merlin.

253. Exactly.

254. Door keyed to my voice pattern. Just the sort of thing I would do.

255. Are you Merlin?

256. No, but I could be. In the future. That is, my personal future.

257. Which could be the past.

258. Right.

259. - I'm commandeering this car, miss. - Sorry?

260. - The keys, please. - What?

261. The keys. Thank you.

262. Hey! Just a moment. This is my car.

263. Seen one spaceship, you've seen them all.

264. Don't be so cynical, Ace.

265. Wow!

266. Impressive!

267. That's Arthur, king of the Britons, isn't it?

268. The legendary Arthur, yes.

269. From another dimension.

270. Where the man was closer to the myth.

271. - But what is he doing here? - Not a lot.

272. Is he in suspended animation?

273. Who knows?

274. In eternal sleep until England's greatest need.

275. - Ace, don't touch that. - Oh, it's all right, Professor.

276. It's not like I'm king of the Britons, is it?

277. - No, Ace! - Gordon Bennett!

278. - I hope you haven't disturbed anything. - Well, it disturbed me!

279. I hope you haven't disturbed anything else!

280. Like what?

281. Like that.

282. - Look! - Where?

283. I think I saw something over there.

284. - Ace? - Hmm?

285. I think it's time for plan B.

286. - We run? - Yes! Run!

287. - There's no way out! - Now is not the time to panic.

288. Doctor!

289. Now we panic!

290. It's some form of automated defence system, isn't it?

291. Yes.

292. When I say run, run!

293. - Not that way! - Doctor, it's a dead end!

294. Hang on, Ace.

295. I'm coming.

296. Doctor!
