1. - Stop the machine! - Get out of here!

2. - You've got to stop the machine! - I can't!

3. Ace! The power!

4. - It's stuck! Pull it! Pull it!

5. I can't!

6. You're too late, Doctor!

7. Captain, no one is to touch the Ultima Machine.

8. - It must complete its task. - Sir.

9. Just one problem. You weakened the base's defences

10. precisely so some Russians could steal it.

11. Captain, radio for reinforcements.

12. Sir, you've just ordered that all radio transmitters be disabled.

13. - I've just set Perkins onto it now. - What!

14. Sir! Radio transmitters disabled, as ordered, sir.

15. Splendid work, Perkins. Splendid work.

16. Now put them back together again.

17. - We haven't got much time! - But Jean and Phyllis?

18. Dark legends.

19. In the story of Dracula, this is where he came ashore.

20. - Vampires? - No, not vampires, Haemovores.

21. They're what Homo sapiens evolve into thousands of years in the future.

22. Creatures with an insatiable hunger for blood.

23. I don't understand. The future? How can you know?

24. I've seen it. How good are your parish records?

25. - Oh, they go back as far as the 18th century. - Good.

26. - Now for a little local history. - Right.

27. - What's the matter? - I was just thinking.

28. If these vampires... I mean Haemovores, if they come here...

29. - Well, Kathleen and her little baby... - Look, once upon a time

30. you'd have dropped everything just for a little bit of excitement.

31. Yeah, but I just want to make sure they're all right.

32. - Catch us up. - Thanks.

33. - Doctor... - Hmm?

34. Those two girls. They said they'd come back for me.

35. I'm sorry, Kapitan.

36. I know you and the sergeant had been friends a long time.

37. Kapitan.

38. Kapitan!

39. - On your command. Save your bullets.

40. Everyone pulls back, and don't turn away from them or you're dead.

41. Take him. Come on. Move! Move!

42. Hiya. How's the little horror?

43. - Well, I've just fed her and put her down. - (WHISPERS) Oh, I'm sorry.

44. You should've told me.

45. - Where will you go? - Oh, I'll manage.

46. Frank's got shore leave in a few weeks.

47. Who's Frank? Your boyfriend?

48. - No, my husband. - Oh, I didn't know you were married.

49. I've got a baby.

50. Yeah, I just thought that...

51. Well, you can stop thinking it, all right?

52. - Oh, I didn't know. I'm... - It's okay.

53. It's okay.

54. - Where is he? - He's in the merchant navy.

55. Atlantic convoys.

56. I used to think I'll never get married.

57. But now I'm not so sure.

58. We're wasting our time on some superstition.

59. The Viking legends will come true, the treasure will be brought to us.

60. And with it, all the dark powers of Fenric shall be ours.

61. (CHUCKLING) Oh, yes, I know. "Let the chains of Fenric shatter."

62. Well, what about my chains? Hmm?

63. That was over 20 years ago. Why must you remind me?

64. I offer you everything.

65. Kapitan, what are they?

66. Six months ago, a small sabotage team

67. was sent into German-occupied Romania.

68. Only one survived.

69. He talked about dead men coming out of a black fog.

70. The official report said

71. he'd been listening to too much local gossip about vampires.

72. But vampires don't exist.

73. - Why does your bell tower look like a fortress? - (SIGHING)

74. Like the people who built it were expecting trouble.

75. I don't think there's a record of any battles taking place here.

76. Today's events haven't been written down yet.

77. Now, you're looking for the descendants of the early Viking settlers

78. about 200 years ago. Ace, you help me.

79. So, what exactly are we looking for?

80. The Viking inscriptions said they were carrying treasures from the Orient.

81. You might give me something to go on. I mean, a few hints might be useful.

82. Well, just look for something evil!

83. - (CLANGING) - (GROANING) Argh!

84. Doctor! Doctor!

85. Doctor, I've found it.

86. - Exactly as you said. - What you got, Vicar?

87. There's your Vikings, or descendants of them, at any rate.

88. "Joseph Sundvik."

89. "Florence Sundvik, wife."

90. "Sarah, Martha, Jane, Clara, Annie."

91. The curse of Fenric, passed down through generations.

92. Find out which daughters married.

93. And what their new surnames are.

94. Oh, Professor, what's this water doing here?

95. Oh, it's the roof. It leaks.

96. It always seeps in like that when it's raining and there's an east wind.

97. The problem is, it's not raining. And it's a west wind.

98. Follow me!

99. Takes two against one, does it?

100. How about a little Cossack blood, eh?

101. Fire! - (GUNSHOTS)

102. Up the ladder! Quick!

103. Quick.

104. Hold them! Hold them!

105. I don't know that I can!

106. You've got to have faith! Have faith! Faith!

107. (MUTTERS) Faith... Faith in... Susan, yes, Susan... Barbara... Vicki... Steven...

108. Whew!

109. - Ah, any more up there? - Only those creatures.

110. - Quick. You and your men, down to the crypt. - Down.

111. - Get the record books. - Right.

112. - Hurry up! Yes!

113. Jam the door! - (COUGHING)

114. Professor, that noise you were making, like singing, only it wasn't.

115. Ah! Just a little something to frighten off Haemovores.

116. I thought vampires were scared of crucifixes?

117. No, no. It's not the crucifix that frightens them.

118. It's the faith of the person carrying it.

119. It creates a psychic barrier just like I did.

120. Door's secure.

121. - We're trapped! - Ace?

122. - The mine shaft! - Correct.

123. Listen, I must go back to my men.

124. You can't go back that way.

125. Those creatures, (STUTTERING) they're inhuman!

126. I must try. If I fail, I fail.

127. These two will stay with you.

128. - Professor. Show him how to make the singing. - I can't.

129. Either he believes absolutely or he doesn't.

130. - I believe in the Revolution. - Complete faith? No doubts?

131. Go. If we meet again, you will have your answer.

132. Go.

133. Be careful.

134. I hope we're not too late.

135. Oh, no! What's happened?

136. You two, break that wall down! Quick! Quick!

137. If you want a job done properly, get a girl to do it.

138. - Out of the way, boys. - Ace!

139. Oh, don't antagonise her. It'll make things worse!

140. Five seconds and you're yesterday's breakfast, sunbeam.

141. Take cover!

142. (GASPS) Wicked!

143. Quick! Get in the tunnel!

144. I'll talk to you later.

145. How much further?

146. Three or four hundred metres.

147. Oh, we'll never make it.

148. - What's the matter? - Well, if I get the top off this,

149. then I can make up some more nitro.

150. Another explosion might bring the roof down on top of our heads.

151. - Oh, just a small one? - No!

152. If only we could slow them down for a few moments.

153. Two minutes, then follow us.

154. Where did you find that?

155. It was just lying around.

156. That's the Oriental treasure we've been looking for.

157. Oh.

158. What's happening? The air, it's so still, so warm.

159. There is a storm coming.

160. Come on! You're almost here!

161. - Right. Seal it. - There are two people following us.

162. You're here. That's all I'm interested in.

163. - And I'll have those. Open those doors!

164. Many years ago, when I was Chief Petty Officer on-board ship,

165. we had an explosion in an engine room.

166. But the Russians are our friends, our allies!

167. I had to seal it off to save the ship.

168. Keep the flames restricted to one section.

169. Please, Commander.

170. Those two men won't stand a chance against those creatures.

171. - They're inhuman! - So is he.

172. We could hear men screaming behind the bulkheads for nearly an hour.

173. And then the screaming stopped.

174. Okay.

175. You stay here. If I'm not back in ten minutes, abort the mission.

176. Take this.

177. Take cover.

178. Commander Millington!

179. Commander Millington!

180. I want to talk with you,

181. officer to officer!

182. Here we are, Judson.

183. I said it would be brought to us.

184. Release the power.

185. - Sir, the house guests have arrived. - What?

186. The house guests.

187. There's one outside. He wants to talk to you.

188. Talk?

189. We must talk, Commander Millington.

190. I'm afraid you have me at a disadvantage.

191. You seem to know my name, but I don't know yours.

192. However, that hardly seems to matter at the moment.

193. You will tell your men to put down their weapons and surrender.

194. I come alone.

195. Very well.

196. Lay down your weapons and come in peacefully!

197. Like the wolves of winter.

198. Move! Move back! Move it! Let's get out of here!

199. Lock him up.

200. You'll be pleased to know, Doctor, everything is under control.

201. The Russians aren't your problem,

202. those creatures are! They devour humans the way you eat fruit.

203. I doubt if any creatures can walk through iron shutters.

204. They can weld metal beneath the sea with their bare hands!

205. You all right?

206. What is it?

207. What's wrong? Tell me! What's the matter? I'll do anything!

208. What's this?

209. "It is with deepest sorrow

210. "that I write to inform you that the ship

211. "on which your husband, Frank William Dudman, was serving,

212. "was struck by enemy torpedoes.

213. "Your husband was trapped in the fire

214. "and has been listed as missing, presumed dead.

215. "Please accept our sincere condolences."

216. I'm sorry.

217. - You know what's going on, don't you? - Yes.

218. You always know. You just can't be bothered to tell anyone.

219. It's like it's some kind of a game, and only you know the rules!

220. You knew all about that inscription being a computer program,

221. but you didn't tell me.

222. You know all about that old bottle and you're not telling me!

223. - Am I so stupid? - No, that's not it.

224. Why then? I want to know!

225. Evil. Evil since the dawn of time!

226. - What do you mean? - Will you stop asking me these questions?

227. Tell me!

228. The dawn of time. The beginning of all beginnings.

229. Two forces only, good and evil. Then chaos.

230. Time is born, matter, space.

231. The universe cries out like a newborn.

232. The forces shatter as the universe explodes outwards.

233. Only echoes remain, and somehow...

234. Somehow, the evil force survives.

235. An intelligence. Pure evil!

236. - That's Fenric? - No. That's just Millington's name for it.

237. Evil has no name.

238. Trapped inside a flask like a genie in a bottle.

239. - Can we stop it? - We need to get that flask.

240. We can release Captain Sorin to help us.

241. I can distract the guard.

242. - How? - Professor...

243. I'm not a little girl.

244. - Are you looking for someone? - No.

245. You?

246. There's a wind whipping up.

247. I can feel it through my clothes.

248. - Is there a storm coming? - I wasn't expecting one.

249. The question is,

250. is he making all the right moves?

251. Or only going through the motions?

252. What are you doing here?

253. You'll have to move faster than that if you want to keep up with me.

254. Faster than light.

255. Faster than the second hand on a watch?

256. Much faster.

257. We're not even moving yet.

258. Hardly cruising speed.

259. Sometimes,

260. I move so fast,

261. I don't exist any more.

262. What can you see?

263. Undercurrents.

264. Bringing things to the surface.

265. - I can't stay. - You promised.

266. I can't!

267. I'm here.

268. The book won't do you any good.

269. You don't believe.

270. We'll see.

271. - You all right? - Yeah, nothing out of my depth.

272. - Come on. - How are we going to stop Fenric?

273. Evil needs a body. It hasn't found one yet.

274. Thank you.

275. It's not true! You don't believe it!

276. Look at us. There's no good in us.

277. No! I believe in good!

278. Look in yourself. There's no good in you.

279. No! No!

280. No! No!

281. (WAILING) No!

282. What's it doing?

283. Don't touch him. Don't touch anything!

284. He's an invalid. He can't even stand without someone to support him.

285. - (WHISPERING) He's dead. - The time is now.

286. The chains of Fenric are shattered.

287. The gods have lost the final battle.

288. We're too late! It's him!

289. The dead men's ship has slipped its moorings,

290. and the Great Ash itself trembles to its roots!

291. (WHISPERS) Fenric!

292. We play the contest again,

293. Time Lord.
