1. Previously on Dexter:Copy !req
2. Oh, my God.
Dexter, what the fuck?Copy !req
3. Travis was here. He came at me.Copy !req
4. When I thought about everything he did,
I wanted him dead, so I killed him.Copy !req
5. I have to call this in.
Maybe we should get rid of the body.Copy !req
6. Gasoline, fire, it'll erase any trace
that we were ever here.Copy !req
7. I never wanted her
to go through this, Dex.Copy !req
8. Neither did I.Copy !req
9. I found a blood slide exactly like
the ones we found in Doakes' car.Copy !req
10. Bad people are still going missing,
and Doakes—Copy !req
11. Was the Bay Harbor Butcher,
end of story.Copy !req
12. I have to keep my secret safe.Copy !req
13. Otherwise my life, her life,
will never be the same.Copy !req
14. Are you a serial killer?Copy !req
15. I only kill certain kinds of people.
Oh, God.Copy !req
16. Are you the Bay Harbor Butcher?
Dad taught me. He gave me a code.Copy !req
17. Dad knew?Copy !req
18. You're like a magnet.
Bad shit is gonna find you.Copy !req
19. Dexter is a blood-spatter analystCopy !req
20. and Doakes always thought
something was off about him.Copy !req
21. What if Doakes was on to him?Copy !req
22. The Bay Harbor Butcher.
Maria thinks it might be you.Copy !req
23. Me?Copy !req
24. Hannah McKay.
She stabbed a woman five times.Copy !req
25. All I can think about
is giving her what she deserves.Copy !req
26. Do what you gotta do.Copy !req
27. Dexter...Copy !req
28. You're the only person
I don't have to hide anything from.Copy !req
29. Maybe you understand me
a little better than I understand myself.Copy !req
30. I love you.
It's because she's a serial killer?Copy !req
31. If you love me, you'll accept this.
If I love you? I'm in love with you!Copy !req
32. Wha—?Copy !req
33. Debra's been in a car accident.
You poisoned Debra.Copy !req
34. You were supposed to choose me.
She's my sister.Copy !req
35. Goodbye, Dexter.Copy !req
36. Security footage
from before the fire departmentCopy !req
37. got the call on the burning church.Copy !req
38. What were you doing there, lieutenant?
Are we really that fucked?Copy !req
39. If all she's got is that DVD,
I can handle this.Copy !req
40. LaGuerta's an innocent.
She doesn't even meet the code.Copy !req
41. It's the only option.Copy !req
42. Hector Estrada. I was three years old
when you murdered my mother.Copy !req
43. You're Dickie Moser!Copy !req
44. Dexter Moser.Copy !req
45. - I have another kill I have to do.
- It's not so easy.Copy !req
46. I can't let Deb go down
for what I did.Copy !req
47. It's Deb. Whatever you're thinking,
please don't do it.Copy !req
48. So, what's the plan?Copy !req
49. I use her gun to shoot Estrada
in his puncture wound.Copy !req
50. Use Estrada's gun
to shoot LaGuerta.Copy !req
51. Deb.
Dexter?Copy !req
52. You shouldn't be here.
Why shouldn't I be here?Copy !req
53. Shoot him, Debra.Copy !req
54. You have to end this. Shoot him.Copy !req
55. Stop!
Do it, Debra. Shoot him.Copy !req
56. Do it! Shoot him!Copy !req
57. This is not who you are.Copy !req
58. You're a good person.
You're not like him.Copy !req
59. Put him down!Copy !req
60. It's true.
Everything she said.Copy !req
61. You're a good person.Copy !req
62. Do what you gotta do.Copy !req
63. Dex.Copy !req
64. I hate you.Copy !req
65. There's nothing like a crisis
to help define who you are.Copy !req
66. A better person would feel bad
about LaGuerta's death.Copy !req
67. But the truth is
it solved all my problems.Copy !req
68. It's gotten me back on track.Copy !req
69. In the six months sinceCopy !req
70. I've coached Harrison's soccer team
to a championship...Copy !req
71. gotten the bowling team
back together...Copy !req
72. made some new friends.Copy !req
73. I'm a survivor.Copy !req
74. She chose a career
in law enforcement.Copy !req
75. And I know for a fact that she
never regretted one day of service.Copy !req
76. It's a choice
that none of us take lightly.Copy !req
77. Is Aunt Deb gonna be here?Copy !req
78. I don't think so, but we'll get together
with her real soon.Copy !req
79. Maria was very important to me.Copy !req
80. She was a good cop.
She was my boss.Copy !req
81. Very briefly my wife.Copy !req
82. But mostly she was a friend.Copy !req
83. I miss you, Maria.Copy !req
84. We all do.Copy !req
85. Thank you, Lieutenant Batista.Copy !req
86. At this time, we would like to dedicate
this beautiful memorial in her honour.Copy !req
87. Ladies and gentlemen,
fellow officers,Copy !req
88. I present to you
the Captain Maria LaGuerta bench.Copy !req
89. Okay, well, we're off to swim class.Copy !req
90. Say goodbye to Daddy.
Bye, Daddy.Copy !req
91. See you after work, Harrison.
Okay.Copy !req
92. A bench. Why a bench?Copy !req
93. She deserves more than a place
where people park their butts.Copy !req
94. It's a nice bench.Copy !req
95. It's concrete, very sturdy.Copy !req
96. You can buy them at the parking lot
at Home Depot.Copy !req
97. I'm sorry. Was that insensitive?
No, that's exactly my point.Copy !req
98. This all feels so cold.Copy !req
99. You're still hurting, I can tell.
All right,Copy !req
100. look, first of all, it's weird
when you try to speak Spanish.Copy !req
101. Second, don't ever touch me.
It's been six months.Copy !req
102. You're having a tough time moving on.Copy !req
103. How am I supposed to move on?Copy !req
104. My dining room is filled
with boxes of her stuff.Copy !req
105. He's right, you know?
It's been six months.Copy !req
106. Maybe you should just get rid of it.
And then what? She just disappears?Copy !req
107. Hey, Dex, I was kind of hoping
your sister would stop by.Copy !req
108. Yeah, how is Deb?Copy !req
109. She really wanted to be here,
but she's working long hours.Copy !req
110. She's better?Copy !req
111. Oh, yeah, she's great.Copy !req
112. That's good to know.Copy !req
113. Yeah, she took LaGuerta's death
kind of hard,Copy !req
114. even though
they didn't seem all that close.Copy !req
115. There's no telling
how you're gonna react.Copy !req
116. You know,
when Mike Anderson was killed,Copy !req
117. I just wanted to get away
from all this.Copy !req
118. It took Maria's death
to turn me back.Copy !req
119. It made me want to do nothing
but chase bad guys.Copy !req
120. I can't tell you how many times
all I wanted to do is what Deb did,Copy !req
121. walk out of here at lunch
and never come back.Copy !req
122. Yeah, Deb can be impulsive
sometimes.Copy !req
123. Tell her to drop by sometime.Copy !req
124. Place isn't the same without her.Copy !req
125. For a while, I heard from her every
other day, asking for some favour,Copy !req
126. but I haven't spoken to her
in a couple weeks now.Copy !req
127. Why is that?Copy !req
128. She's out of town.Copy !req
129. Right. The Keys.Copy !req
130. No, Fort Lauderdale.Copy !req
131. Right. Fort Lauderdale.Copy !req
132. Well, when she gets back,
let's set something up.Copy !req
133. It'd be good to see her.
Yeah, it would.Copy !req
134. I mean, I'll tell her.Copy !req
135. It's Deb. Leave a message.Copy !req
136. The user's mailbox is full.Copy !req
137. Hey, Vince.
Can you cover for me this morning?Copy !req
138. I always do.Copy !req
139. Deb's working through this
in her own way.Copy !req
140. I just wish
she'd talk to me once in a while.Copy !req
141. Ooh-aah.Copy !req
142. Supposed to be for both of us.Copy !req
143. Mm. I'm sorry.
I guess I got carried away.Copy !req
144. You're gonna have to share.Copy !req
145. Gotta take this. Business.
Okay.Copy !req
146. Yeah.Copy !req
147. No, I'm not splitting it up.
All or nothing.Copy !req
148. That is my best price.Copy !req
149. You've never worked with me before,
but you know it's a fair deal.Copy !req
150. It's 11:47 a.m.Copy !req
151. You have till tomorrow
at this exact time.Copy !req
152. Fucking amateurs.
What happened to your normal guys?Copy !req
153. I don't know.
They disappeared on me.Copy !req
154. Funny thing, being a fence doesn't
seem to be a long-term occupation.Copy !req
155. What about this guy?
Can you trust him?Copy !req
156. Can you trust anybody?Copy !req
157. Uh-uh.Copy !req
158. Maybe if you want,
I can back you up.Copy !req
159. I don't want you involved.Copy !req
160. Yeah, but I'm really—
Debbie.Copy !req
161. I appreciate it...Copy !req
162. Ha-ha.
but I got it covered.Copy !req
163. Ahh. What do you want to do today?Copy !req
164. Preferably something
that involves you in a bikini.Copy !req
165. Why don't we rent a boat?Copy !req
166. Like a pontoon, little thing,
we could go out, relax on the water.Copy !req
167. No, get something fast.
Let's get a speedboat.Copy !req
168. We can buzz the cruise ships.Copy !req
169. You like causing trouble,
don't you?Copy !req
170. I can't help it.Copy !req
171. It's funny how these things work,
isn't it?Copy !req
172. What do you mean?Copy !req
173. Like when I met you, I'd been
in that bar for almost an hour.Copy !req
174. I was about to leave.Copy !req
175. Then you walked in.
Yeah, I did.Copy !req
176. It's funny how something so simpleCopy !req
177. as you walking in the door
at the exact right momentCopy !req
178. can suddenly change everything.Copy !req
179. Yeah.Copy !req
180. What are you doing here, Dexter?Copy !req
181. She could be inside.Copy !req
182. You know what she's been
going through. She could'veCopy !req
183. done something.Copy !req
184. Deb.Copy !req
185. Deb, you in here?Copy !req
186. She's not here, Dexter.Copy !req
187. She asked you to leave her alone.Copy !req
188. For how long?Copy !req
189. I haven't talked to her
in over a month.Copy !req
190. I haven't seen her in two months.Copy !req
191. She's disappeared.Copy !req
192. She's disappeared
from you, Dexter.Copy !req
193. And that's her choice.Copy !req
194. What is this?Copy !req
195. Xanax.Copy !req
196. Paxil.Copy !req
197. Adderall.Copy !req
198. More Xanax.
All from different doctors.Copy !req
199. And pot.Copy !req
200. Great, she's mixing all this shit.Copy !req
201. I have to find her.Copy !req
202. Dexter, you're the problem,
not the solution.Copy !req
203. The best thing you can do for Debra
is to stay away from her.Copy !req
204. I'm the only one
who knows what happened.Copy !req
205. I'm the only one who can help her.
She needs me.Copy !req
206. It's Deb. Leave a message.Copy !req
207. The user's mailbox is full.Copy !req
208. I have to find her.Copy !req
209. Hi.
Hi.Copy !req
210. Can I help you?Copy !req
211. Yeah, I'm—
Dexter Morgan.Copy !req
212. Elway. Nice place.Copy !req
213. Thank you.Copy !req
214. Yeah, yeah, it's a big step up from
my robbery desk at Miami Metro, huh?Copy !req
215. And it's a good change for Deb
as well.Copy !req
216. Very smart of her, making a move
to the private sector, I'll tell you.Copy !req
217. She here?
She is not.Copy !req
218. You know when she'll be back?Copy !req
219. Not a clue.Copy !req
220. She's got a big problem
of disappearing on me.Copy !req
221. What does that mean?Copy !req
222. She don't like to check in
when she's supposed to.Copy !req
223. When's the last you heard from her?Copy !req
224. Been a couple of weeks,
at least.Copy !req
225. And that's normal for her?
Of course not normal. Debra Morgan.Copy !req
226. There's no "normal" for her.
That was the deal when I hired her.Copy !req
227. She's her own agent, she chooses
the cases she wants to work on,Copy !req
228. and she calls in
when she feels like it.Copy !req
229. But...
But what?Copy !req
230. She's never waited two weeks
to call me back.Copy !req
231. What case is she working on?Copy !req
232. Some smash-and-grab.
Guy skipped out on bail.Copy !req
233. Uh... Name is...Copy !req
234. Briggs. Andrew Briggs.Copy !req
235. Skip tracing, bounty hunting?
Isn't that beneath her?Copy !req
236. Tell me about it.Copy !req
237. I try to give her bigger clients,
higher-profile cases,Copy !req
238. but she seems to like
the down and dirty stuff.Copy !req
239. Your sister's a bit of a thrill seeker.
Really?Copy !req
240. Easy money for her. Gets a percentage
of everybody she brings in, so...Copy !req
241. Well, what else can you tell me
about the case?Copy !req
242. Not much more to it.
Find him, bring him back.Copy !req
243. If she brings the jewellery,
she gets a cut.Copy !req
244. That's all you know?
Like I saidCopy !req
245. she's not big on checking in, so...Copy !req
246. I gotta go.Copy !req
247. If you hear from her, call me,
all right?Copy !req
248. Is this how I'm going to find Deb?Copy !req
249. Dead and alone?Copy !req
250. Are you looking at my ass?
No.Copy !req
251. I mean, yes.
What size do you wear?Copy !req
252. None of your damn business.Copy !req
253. It's just that I have all of Maria's
clothes, and I just thought maybe...Copy !req
254. Oh.
Yeah, no, it's—Copy !req
255. It's not your style. I get it.Copy !req
256. She was a very colourful woman.Copy !req
257. Hey, what do we have?Copy !req
258. Robert Bailey, 42 years old,
Miami resident.Copy !req
259. Killed by a single gunshot wound
to the chest,Copy !req
260. right above the heart.Copy !req
261. Judging from the stippling
on the wound, it looks like the muzzleCopy !req
262. was in contact
with the chest when fired.Copy !req
263. Suicide?Copy !req
264. No, the victim was killed elsewhere
and dumped here.Copy !req
265. Whoa.Copy !req
266. Parietal and occipital bone
sliced through.Copy !req
267. Back of the cranium removed.Copy !req
268. Okay, that's weird.Copy !req
269. And...Copy !req
270. looks like a piece of it
has been scooped out,Copy !req
271. like with a melon baller.Copy !req
272. Just got weirder.
We have a gun.Copy !req
273. So someone shoots this guy,Copy !req
274. cuts his head open,
and messes with his brain.Copy !req
275. He takes the body and the weapon
and brings them all the way out here.Copy !req
276. Why?Copy !req
277. People are crazy.Copy !req
278. I think we're done here.Copy !req
279. Okay, process the gun
for DNA and prints.Copy !req
280. With the rain...
Yeah, do it anyway.Copy !req
281. Dexter, follow up on the body.Copy !req
282. Will do.Copy !req
283. It's Deb. Leave a message.Copy !req
284. The user's mailbox is full.Copy !req
285. Where the hell are you, Deb?Copy !req
286. Andrew Briggs.Copy !req
287. The man Deb was looking for.Copy !req
288. Clubbed a security guard over the head,
robbed a high-end jewellery store.Copy !req
289. Got away with over a half a million
in unrecovered merchandise.Copy !req
290. Skipped on his bail,
been on the run ever since.Copy !req
291. Arrested three times for assault.Copy !req
292. Sent one guy to the hospital
with a broken jaw.Copy !req
293. This guy is dangerous.Copy !req
294. Did Debra get in over her head?Copy !req
295. "Password"?Copy !req
296. Nope.Copy !req
297. "Fucking password."Copy !req
298. Here we go.Copy !req
299. All of her charges for three weeks
have been in Fort Lauderdale.Copy !req
300. And mostly at El Mercado
on East 4th Street.Copy !req
301. She was there yesterday afternoon.Copy !req
302. I can be there in half an hour.Copy !req
303. That's the guy
she's supposed to bring in.Copy !req
304. What kind of tequila you like?Copy !req
305. The kind that makes you fall down.Copy !req
306. I'll see what I can do.Copy !req
307. Hmm.Copy !req
308. What the fuck?Copy !req
309. Deb, what's going on?Copy !req
310. I'm working a case.
You should get the fuck out.Copy !req
311. You found your guy.
Why haven't you brought him in?Copy !req
312. How do you know what I'm doing?
I talked to Elway.Copy !req
313. You talked to Elway?Copy !req
314. He said you hadn't checked in.
I was scared something happened.Copy !req
315. I'm fine. You should get out.Copy !req
316. Deb, you haven't talked to me in weeks.
You haven't returned any of my calls.Copy !req
317. You completely missed
LaGuerta's memorial.Copy !req
318. Jesus Christ, I wonder why.Copy !req
319. And would you please erase
the messages on your phone?Copy !req
320. No one has heard from you.Copy !req
321. Yeah,
I'm fucking getting close to BriggsCopy !req
322. so that I can get the jewellery
before he fences it, all right?Copy !req
323. I'm a professional working a case.Copy !req
324. Why don't you get out of here
before you ruin it?Copy !req
325. You having sex with that guy?
What the fuck?Copy !req
326. My life is none of your business.Copy !req
327. Go.Copy !req
328. No, I'm not leaving.Copy !req
329. Fuck you.Copy !req
330. Do you wanna know why
I'm not returning your phone calls?Copy !req
331. Because I don't wanna talk to you.Copy !req
332. And I really don't wanna
fucking see you.Copy !req
333. Why?
Why?Copy !req
334. Um...Copy !req
335. Because you made me compromise
everything about myself I care about.Copy !req
336. And I hate you for it.Copy !req
337. No, you don't.Copy !req
338. I shot the wrong person
in that trailer.Copy !req
339. Who's this guy?Copy !req
340. Just some loser.Copy !req
341. Is there a problem?Copy !req
342. Let's go.Copy !req
343. She doesn't hate me. She's messed up.
She doesn't know what she's doing.Copy !req
344. It's none of your business.Copy !req
345. She's using this job
as a way to escape.Copy !req
346. She can't deal with everything
that's happened. She's lost, Dad.Copy !req
347. You've done this to her.
Don't make it worse. Leave her alone.Copy !req
348. Motherfucker cut me off.Copy !req
349. Dexter, what are you doing?Copy !req
350. Hey, what's going on?Copy !req
351. You cut me off.
I'm sorry. I didn't—Copy !req
352. You lost control out there, Dexter.Copy !req
353. He knows what he did.Copy !req
354. Go home, son.Copy !req
355. Right there...Copy !req
356. Oh.Copy !req
357. Stop.Copy !req
358. Don't stop. Don't stop.Copy !req
359. Don't stop.
Jamie, I'm home.Copy !req
360. Oh, God— You stopped.
Someone just came in.Copy !req
361. It's just Angel.
Yeah, what?Copy !req
362. What?Copy !req
363. I'm sorry, I can't have sex
with my lieutenant 20 feet away.Copy !req
364. I'm not having a problem.Copy !req
365. That's because you're
fucking superhuman.Copy !req
366. Oh, come on.Copy !req
367. Joey, the chance that someone
might find out our little secret...Copy !req
368. I know. Not gonna happen.Copy !req
369. makes it even more fun.
It's not gonna happen.Copy !req
370. Come to my place tomorrow morning,
we can finish where we left off.Copy !req
371. I can't. I have to be
at Dexter's by 7.Copy !req
372. What?Copy !req
373. Fuck. Mm.
Mm.Copy !req
374. Do me a favour?Copy !req
375. Distract him so I can
go out the side door, okay?Copy !req
376. How am I supposed
to do that?Copy !req
377. Throw some fucking
pork rinds on the floor.Copy !req
378. You owe me.Copy !req
379. Hey.Copy !req
380. You're all sweaty.Copy !req
381. Uh... Yeah.Copy !req
382. It's good that you're working out.Copy !req
383. Yeah, just doing a little cardio.Copy !req
384. What are you gonna do
with Maria's stuff?Copy !req
385. Don't worry. It'll be gone by tomorrow.
Where?Copy !req
386. Charity workers are coming in
first thing in the morning.Copy !req
387. Feels sad, though.Copy !req
388. An entire life
just packed up in a bunch of boxes.Copy !req
389. You know, maybe...Copy !req
390. you should pick out
some things to keep.Copy !req
391. Come on. I think it'll be good.
You're right. You're right. You're right.Copy !req
392. Warrants...Copy !req
393. to trace Dexter's and Deb's phone.Copy !req
394. Right to the end,
she couldn't let it go.Copy !req
395. Tracking down Estrada by herself,
that's what got her killed.Copy !req
396. Yeah, well,
that's just who she was, Angel.Copy !req
397. Yeah.
A cop.Copy !req
398. That's who she was.Copy !req
399. Deb should be up there
leading this briefing.Copy !req
400. I have to find a way
to get through to her.Copy !req
401. This doesn't look good.
Who do you think she is?Copy !req
402. Methinks a riddle, wrapped in
Dolce & Gabbana inside a—Copy !req
403. Can't you ever talk
like a normal person?Copy !req
404. Everyone, your attention, please.
As you can see, we have a guest.Copy !req
405. This is Dr. Evelyn Vogel.Copy !req
406. She and I first met
when she consulted on a case.Copy !req
407. When most of you were
in high school.Copy !req
408. Dr. Vogel's been away from Miami
for a number of yearsCopy !req
409. but she's back
and has graciously offeredCopy !req
410. her expertise
with our recent body dump.Copy !req
411. But we're only a day
into our investigation.Copy !req
412. I'm not here to step on
anyone's toes, lieutenant.Copy !req
413. It's off the books.Copy !req
414. Evelyn is a neuropsychiatrist.Copy !req
415. She's served as a consultant
on high-profile cases over the years.Copy !req
416. And she has written the definitive
textbook on the brains of psychopaths.Copy !req
417. That's how I know you.
Your work on profiling is classic.Copy !req
418. Thank you.Copy !req
419. I wouldn't normally
insert myself into an investigation.Copy !req
420. She said "insert herself."Copy !req
421. When I read about the body
in the paper,Copy !req
422. there was one aspect of this murder
that I found particularly intriguing.Copy !req
423. Vince, bring up that x-ray
the M.E. sent over.Copy !req
424. Thank you.Copy !req
425. You see this part here?Copy !req
426. That's the anterior insular cortex,Copy !req
427. the portion of the brain
that processes empathy.Copy !req
428. And the hallmark of a psychopath is...Copy !req
429. They have no empathy.Copy !req
430. they have no empathy.Copy !req
431. Now, it's possible
this is mere coincidenceCopy !req
432. but if someone goes
to the troubleCopy !req
433. of carefully extracting
a core from the brain,Copy !req
434. I think they'll give some thought
to what part of the brain he's taking.Copy !req
435. So why do you think
he did this?Copy !req
436. It's too early to say, but maybe
he wanted to perform an experiment,Copy !req
437. or maybe this was
simply a message.Copy !req
438. He wouldn't be the first killerCopy !req
439. to attempt to communicate
through a victim.Copy !req
440. Who was the victim?
Robert Bailey. Mechanic.Copy !req
441. According to his wife,
been missing for nearly a week.Copy !req
442. Was the brain drilled into
while the victim was still alive?Copy !req
443. Dexter?Copy !req
444. The ME indicated
it was done post-mortem.Copy !req
445. The preliminary autopsy also showed
bruising on the knuckles and knees,Copy !req
446. which could indicate the victim
was held captive in an enclosed space.Copy !req
447. There were no contents
in the victim's stomach.Copy !req
448. Signs of dehydration.Copy !req
449. The victim was missing for five days.Copy !req
450. That suggests a pretty elaborate
pre-kill ritual for a serial killer.Copy !req
451. This was just one body.Copy !req
452. How do you know it's a serial killer?
Oh, I doubt that this is his first kill.Copy !req
453. Those are usually more spontaneous.Copy !req
454. This was planned ahead of time.
A lot of thought went into it.Copy !req
455. I'm thinking we're looking for someone
at least in their 30s.Copy !req
456. Intelligent, organised.Copy !req
457. Takes great pride in his work.Copy !req
458. I think he'd enjoy the fact
that we're talking about him right now.Copy !req
459. You think there will be more?Copy !req
460. I'd be surprised if there are not.
Any suspects?Copy !req
461. No prints on the gun.
It sat in the rain all night.Copy !req
462. Same story with the body.
We're still combing for DNA.Copy !req
463. Okay, let's widen our interviews with
friends and co-workers of the victim.Copy !req
464. We need to find
where he intersected with the killer.Copy !req
465. Masuka, when ballistics comes in—
On your desk.Copy !req
466. Dexter, stay on the DNA.Copy !req
467. Thank you.Copy !req
468. Thank you.
Thank you.Copy !req
469. I hear the FBI calls her
the Psychopath Whisperer.Copy !req
470. How lucky are we
she's on this case?Copy !req
471. Yeah.Copy !req
472. How lucky.Copy !req
473. Dr. Evelyn Vogel, neuropsychiatrist,
lecturer, just published her third book.Copy !req
474. And the last person I need
looking in my direction right now.Copy !req
475. What do you think?Copy !req
476. It's nice, right?Copy !req
477. I guess so.Copy !req
478. Maria always had it in her office.Copy !req
479. I want you to have it
to remember her by.Copy !req
480. Oh, thanks. That's nice.Copy !req
481. You still haven't forgiven her?
It's complicated.Copy !req
482. It's all right. I understand.Copy !req
483. But if you can't accept it from Maria,
accept it from me.Copy !req
484. It'll make me feel better.Copy !req
485. Now, I know things were awkward
between the two of youCopy !req
486. before Maria so tragically died.Copy !req
487. So tragically died—Copy !req
488. She died because
she wouldn't leave things alone.Copy !req
489. I don't know why I said that. Sorry.Copy !req
490. I hope you
find it in your heart to forgive her.Copy !req
491. Yo, Dex-bot.Copy !req
492. Vogel wants your presence
in the morgue.Copy !req
493. Great.Copy !req
494. El Sapo.Copy !req
495. Hello, Mr. Toad.Copy !req
496. You stay in here.
I'm gonna meet him outside.Copy !req
497. Are you selling the stuff?Copy !req
498. Well, I don't have it on me,
but I'm gonna give him a little show.Copy !req
499. Deb, hey.
Been a while. How are you?Copy !req
500. I'm working on a case.
Andrew Briggs.Copy !req
501. All business, huh?
I only have a fucking second, okay?Copy !req
502. So can you look into someone
named "El Sapo" for me?Copy !req
503. Hold on.Copy !req
504. Who is he?
He's a fucking fence.Copy !req
505. I'll run it by the guys in Robbery
as soon as I get—Copy !req
506. You're welcome.Copy !req
507. How'd it go?
I'm gonna be rich.Copy !req
508. Dr. Vogel?Copy !req
509. I got a message
you wanted to see me.Copy !req
510. Yes. Thank you for coming.Copy !req
511. I was wondering if you'd had any luck
with finding DNA on the body.Copy !req
512. No. We found a few hairs,
but they all belong to the victim.Copy !req
513. Ah. So the killer will have to
be found the old-fashioned way.Copy !req
514. Boots to the ground.Copy !req
515. Yeah, I suppose.Copy !req
516. Quinn and Batista having any luck?Copy !req
517. Not as far as I know.Copy !req
518. The victim led a quiet life.
No enemies.Copy !req
519. Serial killers don't have enemies.Copy !req
520. Everyone's a potential victim.Copy !req
521. Well, if you need anything else,
just pick up the phone.Copy !req
522. Anybody at the lab can help you.Copy !req
523. I was interested
to have your take on this case.Copy !req
524. Me?Copy !req
525. Why? I'm the blood guy.Copy !req
526. The blood guy.Copy !req
527. How did you end up here?Copy !req
528. My dad was a cop.Copy !req
529. He kind of steered me away
from that.Copy !req
530. This seemed like a better fit.Copy !req
531. I was drawn to forensics too.Copy !req
532. But I chose to focus
on neuroscience.Copy !req
533. Psychopaths.Copy !req
534. We both chose murder.Copy !req
535. Maybe we're both a little crazy.Copy !req
536. Maybe.Copy !req
537. Mad scientists trained
to look at this as a biological mass.Copy !req
538. A body part.Copy !req
539. Yet somehow,
from all those firings of neurons,Copy !req
540. something intangible emerges.Copy !req
541. Emotions.Copy !req
542. Trust, morality, love.Copy !req
543. Unless you're a psychopath.Copy !req
544. But even then,
belief systems emerge.Copy !req
545. As with the Bay Harbor Butcher.Copy !req
546. What was he like?Copy !req
547. Who?
The Bay Harbor Butcher.Copy !req
548. James Doakes.Copy !req
549. If I'm not mistaken, he worked
with you here in Miami Metro.Copy !req
550. He was angry. Had a short fuse.Copy !req
551. Well, that doesn't
sound right to me.Copy !req
552. As a psychopath, he would be
disassociated from his feelings,Copy !req
553. not quick to anger.
Maybe he wasn't a psychopath.Copy !req
554. Oh, yes, the Bay Harbor Butcher
was definitely a psychopath.Copy !req
555. He'd have to be
to masquerade the way he did.Copy !req
556. But he was an odd one,
that's for sure.Copy !req
557. You're the expert.Copy !req
558. Just the way he picked his victims,Copy !req
559. persons who, on the whole, had
some sort of criminal backgroundCopy !req
560. speaks to a strong belief system.Copy !req
561. Almost as if he operated
with some sort of moral guidelines.Copy !req
562. Guidelines.Copy !req
563. Yet clearly it wasn't a moral choice,
as psychopaths have no conscience.Copy !req
564. So why else would he kill that way?Copy !req
565. So he couldCopy !req
566. get away with it as long as he did?Copy !req
567. People are less likely
to miss criminals when they disappear.Copy !req
568. Doakes was Special Ops.
Maybe he picked that up there.Copy !req
569. Maybe he did.Copy !req
570. Makes an interesting case study.Copy !req
571. I wish I could have interviewed him.Copy !req
572. Sorry.Copy !req
573. I look forward to working with you,
Dexter Morgan.Copy !req
574. Yeah?Copy !req
575. Oh, Dexter.
Hi.Copy !req
576. Come on in. Come on in.
Thanks.Copy !req
577. This Evelyn Vogel—
Quite a looker, that one.Copy !req
578. Heh. You know her?
Yeah, I know her.Copy !req
579. She consulted for us on a couple
cases when I was a captain.Copy !req
580. Last I heard,
she'd moved back to England.Copy !req
581. I hadn't talked to her in years.
And she's here now...Copy !req
582. Why? Because a killer took
a part of a victim's brain?Copy !req
583. She called me up out of the blue, said
she'd moved back about a year ago.Copy !req
584. She asked was I free for lunch,
I filled her in on the case,Copy !req
585. she offered to help.
Why, is she being a pain in the ass?Copy !req
586. No. I'm just trying to figure out
if she's an asset or not.Copy !req
587. Oh. Well, she's smart.Copy !req
588. So use her to your advantage.Copy !req
589. Will do.Copy !req
590. Why do you think she called now?
Like you said, out of the blue?Copy !req
591. Maybe the stars aligned.Copy !req
592. Maybe Mercury is in retrograde. I don't
really care the reason she called.Copy !req
593. All I know is this is law enforcement.
You take whatever free help you can get.Copy !req
594. So keep her in the loop, Dexter.Copy !req
595. Will do.Copy !req
596. What if I'm the reason she's here?Copy !req
597. Hey, when you talk to your sister, can
you tell her to check her messages?Copy !req
598. She asked me for some help,
and now I can't reach her.Copy !req
599. Will do.Copy !req
600. Is this about, uh, Briggs?Copy !req
601. No, she asked me to look into
this fence named El Sapo.Copy !req
602. Nobody in Robbery's heard
of the guy.Copy !req
603. All I know is
Briggs robbed the wrong store.Copy !req
604. It belonged to some mob guy.Copy !req
605. Now nobody's willing to buy what
he's selling except this El Sapo guy.Copy !req
606. All right.Copy !req
607. El Sapo.Copy !req
608. Daddy.Copy !req
609. Harrison, hey.Copy !req
610. What a nice surprise.Copy !req
611. No, not a surprise. We discussed this.
We did?Copy !req
612. Dex, you know I love working for you,
but I need an occasional night off.Copy !req
613. Right. We discussed it.
Okay, I've got his dinner in here.Copy !req
614. Spaghetti and meatballs,
green beans, chocolate pudding.Copy !req
615. Yeah, about tonight, maybe we could—
Harrison, those are Daddy's things.Copy !req
616. What's this?
Bye.Copy !req
617. It's a very expensive centrifuge.Copy !req
618. Come on,
let's get your dinner set up.Copy !req
619. Pudding!
After dinner.Copy !req
620. Pudding!Copy !req
621. Hello?Copy !req
622. I thought I made it clear.Copy !req
623. You meet me here with the money,
and I take you to the stuff.Copy !req
624. Yeah, I'll be alone.Copy !req
625. Fucking El Sapo is "El Idiot."Copy !req
626. When he comes here,
you keep yourself hidden, okay?Copy !req
627. Why?Copy !req
628. Because I don't know him.
Might be freaky.Copy !req
629. I wanna go with you.
We talked about this.Copy !req
630. I'm not doing anything that might get you hurt.
I'll meet him outside.Copy !req
631. You stay in here.Copy !req
632. I love this guy.
I love that guy.Copy !req
633. El Sapo.Copy !req
634. Real name: Javier Guzman.Copy !req
635. Harrison, please.Copy !req
636. Robbery didn't know the name El Sapo
because he's not a fence.Copy !req
637. He's a hit man.Copy !req
638. Jesus, Harrison!Copy !req
639. Look at what you did!Copy !req
640. Uh, I'm sorry.Copy !req
641. It's okay. I'm sorry I yelled.Copy !req
642. It's okay.Copy !req
643. Just give me a second.Copy !req
644. It's Deb. Leave a message.Copy !req
645. The user's mailbox is full.Copy !req
646. Come on. We're going.Copy !req
647. If Deb is with Briggs
when El Sapo shows up,Copy !req
648. he might take her out as well.Copy !req
649. It's Joey Quinn. Thrill me.Copy !req
650. Quinn, it's Dexter. Call me.Copy !req
651. The fuck!Copy !req
652. Yeah! I'm coming!Copy !req
653. The fuck?Copy !req
654. Hey. You brought the kid.Copy !req
655. What's going on?
You didn't answer your phone.Copy !req
656. I'm kind of in the middle of something.
Well, I need to get ahold of Deb.Copy !req
657. And you need me for that, why?Copy !req
658. I don't know where she is.Copy !req
659. What do you mean, you don't know?
I just don't.Copy !req
660. Look, I know she's in Fort Lauderdale.
I need to know where she's staying.Copy !req
661. She talks to you.
Do you know where she is?Copy !req
662. Yeah, the last she mentioned
she was at this place, the Pink Motel.Copy !req
663. Some dump.
Thanks. Come on.Copy !req
664. Was that Dexter?Copy !req
665. Yeah. He was looking for Deb.Copy !req
666. Fucking strange.Copy !req
667. Hmm.Copy !req
668. I don't want to talk about that.
Come here.Copy !req
669. Mm.Copy !req
670. Oh, my God. Why is the
whole world against us?Copy !req
671. Ignore it.Copy !req
672. This is Jamie Batista.
Please leave a message.Copy !req
673. Jesus.Copy !req
674. Doesn't anybody answer
their fucking phone?Copy !req
675. We're going for a drive.
Okay, Daddy.Copy !req
676. It's Deb. Leave a message.Copy !req
677. The user's mailbox is full.Copy !req
678. What the fuck?
I told you to stay away from here.Copy !req
679. I know, but you're in danger.Copy !req
680. Someone is gonna kill Briggs.Copy !req
681. You need to come with me now.Copy !req
682. The fuck I do. Briggs is about to meet his fence.
I'm gonna make a fuckload of money.Copy !req
683. That's who's gonna shoot him. I'm
trying to keep you from getting shot too.Copy !req
684. That's bullshit.
No, it's not.Copy !req
685. El Sapo isn't a fence. He's a hit man.Copy !req
686. He's gonna get the jewels
and kill Briggs.Copy !req
687. I know you don't wanna see me,
but I had to tell you.Copy !req
688. All right, you told me.
It's very dangerous.Copy !req
689. I get that.
You need to come with me.Copy !req
690. You could die here.
I don't fucking care!Copy !req
691. Deb.Copy !req
692. What?Copy !req
693. What, aren't you the one always saying
that bad people deserve to die?Copy !req
694. You're not a bad person.
I killed LaGuerta.Copy !req
695. It doesn't matter.
It doesn't matter?Copy !req
696. Jesus fucking Christ, Dexter,
it doesn't matter!Copy !req
697. That's not what I meant! Come on!Copy !req
698. Deb, it's been months of this.Copy !req
699. You can't keep me away forever.Copy !req
700. You don't understand anything,
do you?Copy !req
701. I wake up every day,Copy !req
702. thinking of every bad decision
that I ever made because of you.Copy !req
703. And it kills me
that I can't take any of it back.Copy !req
704. I'm sorry.Copy !req
705. Don't fucking make that face
and say "I'm sorry" to me.Copy !req
706. Even if it were fucking true,
it wouldn't make any difference.Copy !req
707. Because we can't undo any of it.Copy !req
708. So why don't you go back to your little
life and pretend everything's fineCopy !req
709. but I can't do that
because I am not fucking like you!Copy !req
710. We can talk about this later,Copy !req
711. but you need to come—
No, we fucking can't.Copy !req
712. You again?Copy !req
713. Let's go.
Asshole, get your hands off her.Copy !req
714. What the fuck?Copy !req
715. What did you do?Copy !req
716. I felt okay around him.Copy !req
717. You didn't belong with him.Copy !req
718. Fuck. Fuck! Fuck!
Deb—Copy !req
719. Will you fucking go? Will you go?Copy !req
720. Please go.Copy !req
721. I came here to save you.Copy !req
722. No...Copy !req
723. Deb, look at yourself. You're lost.Copy !req
724. I am not lost.Copy !req
725. I know exactly where I am.Copy !req
726. I am in some shitty fucking hell,
which is exactly what I deserve.Copy !req
727. But you...Copy !req
728. You are lost.Copy !req
729. All my life, I thought I needed you.Copy !req
730. That I couldn't survive without you.
Fuck. Fuck.Copy !req
731. It was the other fucking way around.Copy !req
732. It was the other way around.Copy !req
733. Deb—
Fucking go.Copy !req
734. Don't— I'll get rid of the body.Copy !req
735. No, don't you fucking do anything,
all right? I'm gonna handle this.Copy !req
736. But if El Sapo comes, he's a hit man—
He has no clue who I am.Copy !req
737. If he comes and sees—
Would you fucking go?Copy !req
738. I'm gonna call this in.Copy !req
739. The police?
Yes.Copy !req
740. You should go.Copy !req
741. I'd like to report
a suspected homicide.Copy !req
742. Go.Copy !req
743. The Pink Motel in Broward.Copy !req
744. Oh, fuck.Copy !req
745. Harrison? Harrison?Copy !req
746. Harrison! Harrison!Copy !req
747. Daddy?Copy !req
748. Come here, buddy. Oh.Copy !req
749. I couldn't find you.Copy !req
750. I'm here, buddy. I'm right here.Copy !req
751. Where are we, Daddy?Copy !req
752. Lost.Copy !req
753. So you work
for Elway Investigations.Copy !req
754. Did a skip trace on Briggs,
you went out for a sandwich,Copy !req
755. and you found him dead
when you got back.Copy !req
756. That's it.Copy !req
757. Any idea who
might want to kill him?Copy !req
758. No.Copy !req
759. We'll call you
if we have any more questions.Copy !req
760. Elway, I've got a good news,
bad news situation here.Copy !req
761. Briggs is dead, but I think I have a lead
on where the jewellery might beCopy !req
762. so we might have a shot
at coming out aheadCopy !req
763. but I'm gonna talk to you about it
when I get to the office, okay? Bye.Copy !req
764. Mm.Copy !req
765. Debra was right. I was wrong.Copy !req
766. It's me who's lost.Copy !req
767. A better person would let her go.
But I don't know how.Copy !req
768. Without her,
I don't know who I am anymore.Copy !req
769. Dexter?Copy !req
770. This isn't a good time.Copy !req
771. I was hoping
to share something with you.Copy !req
772. I told you I'm not in the mood
for this.Copy !req
773. Well, then maybe I can
just leave this with you.Copy !req
774. Dexter, please.
What is it you want?Copy !req
775. Please let go.Copy !req
776. You can't kill me.Copy !req
777. Why?Copy !req
778. Because I don't fit Harry's code.Copy !req
