1. Last season on Dexter...Copy !req
2. (Reporter) The butchered bodies were
submerged inside these garbage bags...Copy !req
3. (Debra) Did you hear that?
30 bags. Do you know what that means?Copy !req
4. There might be
a new mass murderer out thereCopy !req
5. - way worse than the Ice Truck Killer.
- (Dexter) Uh-oh.Copy !req
6. Eight confirmed victims
of the Bay Harbor Butcher.Copy !req
7. That's what the press is calling
whoever dumped those bodies offshore.Copy !req
8. Last thing Miami needs
is another serial killer.Copy !req
9. - (Doakes) Any idea who the FBI is sending?
- Some guy named Lundy.Copy !req
10. We have positive IDs
on all 18 of our complete bodies.Copy !req
11. All 13 were either tried for murder
or at least suspected of murder.Copy !req
12. (Debra) Bay Harbor Butcher? Give me one
shot, I'd put a bullet in the fucker's head.Copy !req
13. You really feel that way?Copy !req
14. If Dad taught us one thing,
it's the value of human life.Copy !req
15. (Dexter) Yeah, but I think we had
different homework assignments.Copy !req
16. Tell me the truth.
Are you an addict?Copy !req
17. (Dexter) Yes, I have an addiction.Copy !req
18. - I'm Dexter.
- (All) Hi, Dexter.Copy !req
19. There's my sponsor.Copy !req
20. So tell me, exactly how full of shit are you?Copy !req
21. (Dexter) This woman sees me.Copy !req
22. Somehow she's able to make me feel OK
about what I am.Copy !req
23. You're going to tell me
all your deepest, darkest secrets.Copy !req
24. Laura Moser, my mother,
she was murdered.Copy !req
25. I've never told anyone that before.Copy !req
26. (Lila) Did you find out what happened to the
men responsible for your mother's murder?Copy !req
27. Santos Jimenez. Turned state's evidence,
went into witness protection.Copy !req
28. - Where are you?
- I've decided to look upCopy !req
29. someone from my past.Copy !req
30. 1976!Copy !req
31. You slaughtered her
cause she stole cocaine.Copy !req
32. She was a snitch for a cop.
She was fucking him.Copy !req
33. (Dexter) It seems my foster father and
my biological mother were having an affair.Copy !req
34. Did he blame himself for her death?
Is that why he took me in?Copy !req
35. Or was he just using her?
Was he using me?Copy !req
36. But there ain't no paper trail
on the early years of Dexter Morgan.Copy !req
37. Your past is a bigger mystery
than fucking Jimmy Hoffa.Copy !req
38. Back... off.Copy !req
39. Ow! Fuck!Copy !req
40. If Dexter files a complaint,
you will be kicked off the force.Copy !req
41. (Doakes) He's hiding something, Maria.
I can feel it.Copy !req
42. I need some blood slides analyzed.Copy !req
43. I'm about to be found out
at work for what I really am.Copy !req
44. - You don't understand.
- Why don't you make me?Copy !req
45. - Who the fuck are you?
- Oh, pardon my tits.Copy !req
46. How could you do this to Rita,
not to mention her kids?Copy !req
47. (Rita) You and Lila
stayed in a hotel together.Copy !req
48. It's over, Dexter.Copy !req
49. I'm sure that you heard we have a suspect
in the Bay Harbor Butcher case.Copy !req
50. Sergeant James Doakes.Copy !req
51. He had the slides.Copy !req
52. Carefully hidden in the trunk of his car
at the airport.Copy !req
53. Jesus Christ, Morgan.
You're the Bay Harbor Butcher.Copy !req
54. You sure about that?
You might want to check with Lundy.Copy !req
55. What's it gonna be, Morgan?
Kill me now or set me free!Copy !req
56. Don't worry,
I'll send the FBI your way soon enough.Copy !req
57. So you're still gonna try to frame me?Copy !req
58. (Dexter) Mission accomplished.Copy !req
59. After tomorrow, I'll be out of reach.
Permanently.Copy !req
60. - You're going somewhere?
- Goodbye, Lila.Copy !req
61. (Female voice) Welcome. Previous
destinations. Starting route guidance.Copy !req
62. Hey! Who's out there?
Anybody out there?Copy !req
63. - Who put you in there?
- His name is Dexter Morgan.Copy !req
64. I found out that he's the Bay Harbor Butcher.
Please, just open this gate!Copy !req
65. - Poor thing, all alone.
- I'm OK.Copy !req
66. Not you. Dexter.Copy !req
67. What the fuck are you doing? Turn that off!
Do you understand this is murder?Copy !req
68. - What were you thinking? Are you insane?
- I was trying to bring us back together.Copy !req
69. (Dexter) The Lila experiment
is officially over.Copy !req
70. Could have had it all, Dexter.Copy !req
71. (Dexter) I've never put much weight
into the idea of a higher power,Copy !req
72. but if I didn't know better,Copy !req
73. I'd have to believe that some force out there
wants me to keep doing what I'm doing.Copy !req
74. You wanted to be close to me, Lila?
This is the most I have to offer.Copy !req
75. You taught me to accept what I am.Copy !req
76. Thank you.Copy !req
77. (Dexter) The code is mine now
and mine alone.Copy !req
78. So too are the relationships I cultivate.Copy !req
79. My father might not approve,
but I'm no longer his disciple.Copy !req
80. I'm a master now.Copy !req
81. An idea transcended into life.Copy !req
82. (Dexter) Ah, life.Copy !req
83. Life is a ritual.Copy !req
84. Routine.Copy !req
85. - Control.
- (High-pitched whirring)Copy !req
86. And an essential part of that routine...Copy !req
87. regular oral hygiene.Copy !req
88. There we go.
A few minutes, that'll numb right up.Copy !req
89. So how was your summer, Dexter?Copy !req
90. I went to the carnival.Copy !req
91. I even won a prize.Copy !req
92. Hope you stayed away
from all the sweet stuff.Copy !req
93. Usually I'm good,
but sometimes I indulge.Copy !req
94. I also made it a point to meet new people.Copy !req
95. Can never have too many friends.Copy !req
96. Now, this temporary crown
is gonna go way in the back.Copy !req
97. So there may be some blood.Copy !req
98. - Not a problem.
- OK.Copy !req
99. - So you still have your boat?
- Oh, you bet.Copy !req
100. It's the only place
I can really let everything go.Copy !req
101. That's great. I'm gonna have you up
and out on that water in no time.Copy !req
102. For someone who needs to spend his life
pretending to be normal,Copy !req
103. I've been able to finally settle in...Copy !req
104. - (Moaning)
- ... to a nice, normal world.Copy !req
105. And Rita is the scaffolding
that holds that world in place.Copy !req
106. What are you thinking?Copy !req
107. Life is good.Copy !req
108. Hmm.Copy !req
109. Here you go, buddy. OK, Astor, you're up.
Mickey Mouse, unicorns or starfish?Copy !req
110. Just plain, round pancakes, Dexter.Copy !req
111. She's growing up.Copy !req
112. It starts with pancakes?Copy !req
113. It starts when it starts.Copy !req
114. Hey, Dexter?Copy !req
115. Um, can you come to Dad Day
at my school tomorrow?Copy !req
116. Just tell me what to do.Copy !req
117. There's Charlotte.Copy !req
118. - Bye, Mom. See you, Dexter.
- Bye, Mom.Copy !req
119. - (Rita) Bye.
- Get your bag.Copy !req
120. You hear that?Copy !req
121. Hear what?Copy !req
122. The calm.Copy !req
123. Everything's falling into place
for the first time in my life.Copy !req
124. I've got these terrific kids.Copy !req
125. There's no more drama haunting me.Copy !req
126. And I have this great,
generous, gentle guy.Copy !req
127. Most normal people
enjoy a sacred pact with society -Copy !req
128. live a good life
and society will take care of you.Copy !req
129. But if society drops the ball,
then someone else has to pick up the slack.Copy !req
130. That's where I come in.Copy !req
131. Fred Bowman, AKA Freebo.Copy !req
132. Kills two college girls
and skates on a state police screw-up,Copy !req
133. otherwise known as Florida's
catch and release program.Copy !req
134. He does the deed, gets away with murder
and falls off the radar.Copy !req
135. Everyone's radar but mine.Copy !req
136. You got a birthday coming up, Dad.Copy !req
137. What to get the man
who had everything?Copy !req
138. How about... Freebo?Copy !req
139. - (Man) Morning, Dex.
- (Dexter) Dexter the doughnut guy.Copy !req
140. Part of my routine.Copy !req
141. But let the record show
I'm not the only one with a daily ritual.Copy !req
142. Angel Batista - bear claw.Copy !req
143. Vince Masuka - lemon custard.Copy !req
144. Mmm, better than sex. (Chuckles)Copy !req
145. Actually, no, it's not. (Chuckles)Copy !req
146. Hey, I need a favor. Do you think
you can proof an article I'm writing for FQ?Copy !req
147. - Forensics Quarterly.
- Right, yeah.Copy !req
148. - They reached out cause I was the LFI...
- Lead forensic investigator.Copy !req
149. - ... on the BHB.
- Bay Harbor Butcher.Copy !req
150. - Hey.
- Hey.Copy !req
151. - No biggie. I've been published before.
- (Debra) "Dear Penthouse" doesn't count.Copy !req
152. - Hey, that letter was famous.
- Death by pastry. (Chuckles)Copy !req
153. You changed your hair.Copy !req
154. - Makes you look younger.
- I don't wanna look younger.Copy !req
155. Bad call, then. By the way,
nice work on the Rinaldi case.Copy !req
156. Yeah, well, murder-suicide.
Pretty straightforward.Copy !req
157. Well, still, I mean,
your report was spot-on, right?Copy !req
158. All right.Copy !req
159. Quinn's been in Homicide two weeks
and he noticed.Copy !req
160. - Noticed what?
- My hair.Copy !req
161. I changed my hairstyle
for the first time since I was eight.Copy !req
162. Oh, yeah. It's short... er. Shorter.Copy !req
163. - Quinn, he's showing off his detective skills.
- You think he thinks I'm a potential lay?Copy !req
164. That is not happening. As long as you're
not noticing things, you've also not noticedCopy !req
165. that I've given up men, liquor and smokes
for the last 27 days.Copy !req
166. This is you remembering
Dad's birthday though, right?Copy !req
167. Dad. Birthday. Right.Copy !req
168. Blue room, 7:30, like always.Copy !req
169. - I tried calling you last night.
- I, uh, wasn't home.Copy !req
170. I also tried your cell phone. You're wearing
the same pants you had on yesterday.Copy !req
171. That shirt's the backup
you keep in your locker.Copy !req
172. Ayúdeme aqui. I thought part
of your restructuring our departmentCopy !req
173. was you staying out of our personal lives.Copy !req
174. Anything you want me to know?Copy !req
175. Know this. I went out and had a great time
last night, and you should be happy for me.Copy !req
176. Besides, since when do you care?Copy !req
177. Since this. Follow me.Copy !req
178. OK, guys, listen up.Copy !req
179. I just got word from upstairs thatCopy !req
180. Angel will no longer be
Detective Batista.Copy !req
181. What?Copy !req
182. In two days,
he will be Detective Sergeant Batista.Copy !req
183. Sorry for all the red tape and the hoops.
Nobody deserves it more than you, Angel.Copy !req
184. When this is really official...Copy !req
185. when I can trade this in for that gold badge...
drinks are on me.Copy !req
186. Angel gets his wings.
Know what this means?Copy !req
187. (Sighs) Pay raise?Copy !req
188. No, dildo, it means he's my supervisorCopy !req
189. which means I'm a lock
for my detective shield.Copy !req
190. - Where are you going?
- Research.Copy !req
191. Dex. Typos, grammar,
something could be clearer, whatever.Copy !req
192. Haircut?Copy !req
193. Yep.Copy !req
194. Time to get the lay of the land
on Freebo and his...Copy !req
195. pink house.Copy !req
196. What you need?Copy !req
197. Freebo. I need Freebo.Copy !req
198. - And you know him how?
- He sells the best shit anywhere.Copy !req
199. (Chuckles) Come on, man, what,
you Google him or something?Copy !req
200. Know what? Fuck it.Copy !req
201. - There's other dope spots.
- Hey, come here!Copy !req
202. Don't walk away all "fuck you" on me.Copy !req
203. - (Man) What?
- Ding, ding.Copy !req
204. I'm looking to hold some product.Copy !req
205. Ordinarily, I don't accept new clientele,
but I've had a desultory third quarter.Copy !req
206. - Mmm!
- (Game beeps)Copy !req
207. Oh, come on!Copy !req
208. Need a little more hook
before breaking to the pocket.Copy !req
209. You know, I bought this TV for six grand
but I'll let you have it for three.Copy !req
210. More interested in scoring some tar.Copy !req
211. Oh, another yuppie turns to the dark side.Copy !req
212. - I need a hit.
- Jeez, Teegan, I'm transacting here.Copy !req
213. - One toot.
- Did you hear what I said?Copy !req
214. Fuck off, Teegan.Copy !req
215. Fine, I guess your dick
can suck itself from now on.Copy !req
216. Stupid cunt's gonna
redefine "short-term relationship".Copy !req
217. - Catch my drift?
- (Snorts) Yeah, I catch your drift.Copy !req
218. (Dexter) And I'm entirely confident
you've earned the privilegeCopy !req
219. of being repurposed as fish food.Copy !req
220. Narcotics raided this place
at noon today.Copy !req
221. The drug rats won't return
to their nest for a while.Copy !req
222. Plenty of time
to do what I have to do.Copy !req
223. (Woman) Raw. You like it raw.Copy !req
224. - Excuse me?
- The sugar. You like the raw stuff.Copy !req
225. It's my job to notice things.
Morgan, right?Copy !req
226. - Do I know you?
- New haircut. It's cute.Copy !req
227. - All right, who the fuck are you?
- (Chuckles) Yuki Amado, Internal Affairs.Copy !req
228. And?Copy !req
229. - You know a Joey Quinn?
- Why?Copy !req
230. Well, he started drawing our attention
back when he was in Narcotics.Copy !req
231. He's in your orbit now.Copy !req
232. I don't know the guy
except to hand in my paperwork.Copy !req
233. Be really cool if you could
get next to him, you know?Copy !req
234. - Do a little recon.
- Are you high?Copy !req
235. No, never been.Copy !req
236. Well...Copy !req
237. Yuki, that's not gonna happen.Copy !req
238. Cooperation with IA
has its upside in the department.Copy !req
239. - Yeah, maybe for rodents.
- OK.Copy !req
240. Well, it was nice to finally meet you.
In person, you know.Copy !req
241. Bye.Copy !req
242. And what is it
you think Quinn did exactly?Copy !req
243. Mm! Mm-mm. You don't get
to blow me off and still ask questions.Copy !req
244. Loud music.
Cover of darkness.Copy !req
245. Perfect.Copy !req
246. - (Man) Get off! No!
- (Smashing)Copy !req
247. Freebo, get back here!Copy !req
248. - Who are you?
- Who are you?Copy !req
249. Shit! Oh!Copy !req
250. - (Knocking)
- (Boy) Yo, Freebo, man.Copy !req
251. What the fuck happened back there?Copy !req
252. I went to kill Freebo
and ended up killing a total stranger.Copy !req
253. I've never killed anyone
I didn't completely vet before,Copy !req
254. whose guilt I wasn't absolutely certain of.Copy !req
255. I did something wholly inside the moment
and wholly outside the code.Copy !req
256. Something spontaneous.Copy !req
257. Who did I just kill?Copy !req
258. Freebo's doorman.Copy !req
259. I... am... fucked.Copy !req
260. Just a matter of time
before someone calls it in.Copy !req
261. - Hey, you.
- (Rita) Dexter, hey.Copy !req
262. I know it's not one of our regular nights
but... can you come over?Copy !req
263. Uh, sure. Everything OK?Copy !req
264. Yeah. Just...
Just missing you, that's all.Copy !req
265. God, you're on fire lately.Copy !req
266. Are you complaining?Copy !req
267. I'm complying.Copy !req
268. Where are you?Copy !req
269. I'm right here.Copy !req
270. In a safe place.Copy !req
271. God created pudding
and then He rested.Copy !req
272. Pudding of chocolate.Copy !req
273. Manna from heaven.Copy !req
274. What are the kids gonna do
for dessert tomorrow?Copy !req
275. Tangerines.Copy !req
276. Dexter Morgan.Copy !req
277. Yes, I'm happy
with my long-distance provider.Copy !req
278. What the hell ever happened
to "do not call"? It's three in the morning.Copy !req
279. Not in India.Copy !req
280. I have an insanely busy morning
tomorrow,Copy !req
281. so I'll be gone
before you and the kids wake up.Copy !req
282. Dexter, you've been working
such killer hours lately.Copy !req
283. Just hold me till you have to go.Copy !req
284. Just a matter of time.Copy !req
285. Morning, Sergeant.Copy !req
286. (Batista) How long for you to get
to 118 Calendar?Copy !req
287. Um, 20, 30 minutes.Copy !req
288. - I got it, Dex.
- Got what?Copy !req
289. Only the case that's
gonna get me my shield. It's huge.Copy !req
290. Angel put me on it. Officially on it.Copy !req
291. Huge?Copy !req
292. - (Dexter) Who the hell are you?
- Bet you're wondering who the hell he is.Copy !req
293. Who he is is what makes this case huge.
That's Miguel Prado.Copy !req
294. He's that ADA who's been on a mission
to put away as many bad guys as he can.Copy !req
295. You know?
"A safe Miami is the only Miami."Copy !req
296. A safe Miami
and we're all unemployed.Copy !req
297. Why's he look so familiar?Copy !req
298. He just made
the cover of Florida magazine.Copy !req
299. Top prosecutor in the state
three years in a row.Copy !req
300. He and LaGuerta go way back.
You know, that whole cubano thing.Copy !req
301. The other guy is Ramon Prado,
Miguel's middle brother.Copy !req
302. He's a lieutenant
with the sheriff's department.Copy !req
303. (Debra) Made himself quite the reputation
for being a law-and-order hard-ass.Copy !req
304. And...Copy !req
305. Oscar.Copy !req
306. - Prado?
- As in "baby brother".Copy !req
307. (Dexter) So much for spontaneity.Copy !req
308. What was he doing in a dump like this?Copy !req
309. They're saying he was
a coach at a youth club.Copy !req
310. Came here to confront the scumbag
about selling shit to his kids.Copy !req
311. - Talk about wrong place at the wrong time.
- Tell me about it.Copy !req
312. - Find anything?
- Yeah.Copy !req
313. Dead guy with a hole in his chest.Copy !req
314. This window's cracked
and there's blood on the wall.Copy !req
315. - Who shut these drapes?
- Probably the first on scene.Copy !req
316. Some dipshit rookie
who's still outside puking.Copy !req
317. So what do we got?Copy !req
318. Signs of a majorly big struggle here, there,
everywhere. Single stab wound to the chest.Copy !req
319. - You read my article yet?
- Started it. So far it's really good.Copy !req
320. Awesome.Copy !req
321. (Sobs) God.Copy !req
322. Cómo te dejaron a Oscarcito.Copy !req
323. Te fallé.Copy !req
324. Whoever did this...
he's already wishing he was dead.Copy !req
325. Someone really stepped on his dick
with this one.Copy !req
326. (Dexter) There were so many lessons
in the vaunted code of Harry.Copy !req
327. Twisted commandments handed down
from the only God I ever worshipped.Copy !req
328. One through ten...Copy !req
329. Don't get caught.Copy !req
330. That I got covered.Copy !req
331. But killing someone
without knowing if he's guilty...Copy !req
332. I'd love some help on this one...Copy !req
333. but my God is dead now.Copy !req
334. Man's best friend, eh, Dex?Copy !req
335. Not today.Copy !req
336. Hey, my sister said that LaGuerta
knows this Miguel Prado pretty well.Copy !req
337. Way back when, when Mig...Copy !req
338. Hey, what's up? Way back when,
when Miguel was in law schoolCopy !req
339. and Maria was just starting
in law enforcement, they hooked up.Copy !req
340. Hooked up?Copy !req
341. Between us, for Maria, Miguel Prado
will always be the one that got away.Copy !req
342. (Batista) Prelim has the victim,
Oscar Prado, 26, dead.Copy !req
343. Dead from a single stab wound
to the chest.Copy !req
344. The deceased's brother, ADA Miguel Prado,
informed me at the sceneCopy !req
345. that Oscar went to confront
one Fred Bowman, street name Freebo,Copy !req
346. for selling drugs to some youth-club kids.
Morgan?Copy !req
347. Freebo's the guy that killed two co-eds
in the Everglades and got away with it.Copy !req
348. So the way it looks,
Oscar Prado died a hero.Copy !req
349. Also, our team found a shitload of, uh...
a substantial amount of drugs in the house.Copy !req
350. Any leads on his whereabouts?Copy !req
351. That part of the neighborhood isn't
exactly police-friendly but I'm staying on it.Copy !req
352. - Talk to me about forensics.
- Evidence indicates this was no hit-and-run.Copy !req
353. It was a furious close-in battle. Whoever...
Or is it "whomever"?Copy !req
354. - "Whoever" is good.
- Whoever did this got in a lucky shotCopy !req
355. or was really good at handling a blade.Copy !req
356. According to the ME, the aorta
was cleanly severed in one penetration.Copy !req
357. - Not easy to do.
- Any luck finding the weapon?Copy !req
358. It's not on or near the premises.Copy !req
359. We've checked roofs, sewers, trash bins
in a five-block radius.Copy !req
360. Our conclusion -
the assailant took it with him.Copy !req
361. Dexter, what's the blood saying?Copy !req
362. Pretty much what everyone else is. I have
some second level on-scene work to do.Copy !req
363. - I'll get back to you ASAP.
- Get it to Sergeant Batista.Copy !req
364. Full disclosure.Copy !req
365. I've had a personal relationship
with the Prado family for many years.Copy !req
366. And it goes a lot further
than the whole cubano thing.Copy !req
367. Sergeant?Copy !req
368. Stating the obvious, Lieutenant,
I like Freebo for this.Copy !req
369. (Dexter) Me too.Copy !req
370. (LaGuerta) Morgan?
(Debra) Yes, ma'am?Copy !req
371. Hit the streets harder.
Learn what you can learn.Copy !req
372. Uh, all due respect, Lieutenant,
if Freebo did this, he's not in Miami.Copy !req
373. I mean, he's in the wind.Copy !req
374. We can sit around
on our asses and speculateCopy !req
375. on where we think
the prime suspect may or may not be,Copy !req
376. - or we can actually go and look for him.
- Hmm.Copy !req
377. As a Miami prosecutor,
I have dedicated my career to fighting crime,Copy !req
378. to making our streets safe for everyone.Copy !req
379. Every family -
white, black, Latino, Asian -Copy !req
380. deserves the full measure
of our devotion to their dignity.Copy !req
381. And now that crime has touched my family
in the most profound way imaginable,Copy !req
382. I grieve equally for every familyCopy !req
383. that has been visited
with the same unimaginable newsCopy !req
384. that we have received today.Copy !req
385. Our beautiful city is a city of families.Copy !req
386. And the untimely taking of any of us
touches all of us.Copy !req
387. My parents brought
my brother Ramon and me...Copy !req
388. (Dexter) Part of my ritual has
always been getting to know my victims,Copy !req
389. confirming their guilt beyond all doubt.Copy !req
390. Oscar Prado tried to kill Freebo,
then he tried to kill me.Copy !req
391. No way he was there on some
noble youth-club mission.Copy !req
392. He's got to be guilty of something.
Aren't we all?Copy !req
393. So I ask again...Copy !req
394. Who are you?Copy !req
395. Two speeding tickets
and an illegal U-turn.Copy !req
396. Talk about outside the code of Harry.
(Sighs)Copy !req
397. Harry finds me in a pool of blood,Copy !req
398. turns me into his own
personal vendetta machine,Copy !req
399. and when he sees the monster
he created in action, he kills himself.Copy !req
400. Deb can drink to his honor
on her own.Copy !req
401. Any luck
in the land of reluctant witnesses?Copy !req
402. One house I play good cop,
the next I play bad cop.Copy !req
403. I still can't get shit
from anybody in that neighborhood.Copy !req
404. - You know what the problem is, right?
- Wait, Quinn, let me guess. The "cop" part?Copy !req
405. No, they don't owe you anything.
There's no incentive.Copy !req
406. Which skews the balance of power
way in their direction, right?Copy !req
407. Here, let me do you a favor.Copy !req
408. Call this guy. Tell him you know me.Copy !req
409. Tell him you want to cash in
one of my coupons.Copy !req
410. - Coupons?
- Yeah. He's a CI from my days in Narcotics.Copy !req
411. He's got a hook in him
that's not coming out anytime soon.Copy !req
412. - What do you want in return?
- For you to remember that I did you a solid.Copy !req
413. - What, not even a "thank you"?
- Thank you.Copy !req
414. - Stop looking at my ass.
- (Laughs)Copy !req
415. - (Gulls)
- (Overlapping chatter)Copy !req
416. Yeah, of course...Copy !req
417. (Man) Detective.Copy !req
418. Officer. You're Anton?Copy !req
419. In the flesh.
You got something you want to show me?Copy !req
420. Oh, yeah, I've seen him before.Copy !req
421. - Really? Where?
- In the news.Copy !req
422. Isn't that that guy you let walk
on those co-ed killings?Copy !req
423. Now that there
was a fine piece of police work.Copy !req
424. - You know him from the newspaper?
- I saw him on CNN.Copy !req
425. - OK. That's all you got?
- That's all you got.Copy !req
426. If this is you and Quinn fucking with me,
I'm really not in the mood.Copy !req
427. If you need something for that temper,Copy !req
428. I got a man down the street with some real
mellow weed can take that edge right off.Copy !req
429. - I don't take advice from drug dealers, so...
- Drug dealer? Oh, never that!Copy !req
430. A drug user.
Occasionally.Copy !req
431. - Strictly weed though, Officer. Strictly weed.
- Then how'd you become Quinn's snitch?Copy !req
432. I got caught up in a drug bust. Quinn told me
that if I blew the whistle on the bigger fish,Copy !req
433. I'd stay out of jail. So I listened.
Attentively.Copy !req
434. Yeah, well... you know,
it never hurts an occasional drug userCopy !req
435. - to have more than one friend on the force.
- That's the thing, Officer...Copy !req
436. - I got enough friends.
- All right, well, I'm outta here.Copy !req
437. Yeah, well, you have a good one, you hear?
(Strums guitar)Copy !req
438. What about this Prado guy?Copy !req
439. And to determine the impact site,Copy !req
440. the exact point
where force encounters a body,Copy !req
441. you have to distinguish
the geometric differencesCopy !req
442. between back-spatter,Copy !req
443. satellite spatter,Copy !req
444. - misting and arterial spurting.
- Gross!Copy !req
445. Shut up.Copy !req
446. You remember how before
when Katie's dadCopy !req
447. - was talking about being a surgeon?
- Yeah.Copy !req
448. And sometimes how he has to
cut into bodies and there's blood?Copy !req
449. But he saves lives.Copy !req
450. Do you save lives?Copy !req
451. OK, you know how there's good guys
and there's bad guys?Copy !req
452. So you catch bad guys?Copy !req
453. Well, not directly, but I help.Copy !req
454. Do you have a uniform?Copy !req
455. Lab coat.Copy !req
456. A gun?Copy !req
457. No.Copy !req
458. - He's got a badge.
- (Sighs) It's a laminate.Copy !req
459. Well, thank you so much for taking time
from your busy schedule, Mr. Morgan,Copy !req
460. - to come and talk to the children.
- It was a real learning experience.Copy !req
461. (Puffs) Looks like
I really got through to 'em, huh?Copy !req
462. It would have sucked even worse
if I didn't have a dad today.Copy !req
463. Thanks for inviting me, buddy.Copy !req
464. (Dexter) If anyone should have father
issues - anger, rejection, abandonment -Copy !req
465. it's Cody.Copy !req
466. And what's he do?
He moves on.Copy !req
467. How does that happen?Copy !req
468. - I was so bad you're crying?
- No, no.Copy !req
469. No, it's just...
just something I've always wanted.Copy !req
470. You being here for the kids,Copy !req
471. it's all so wonderfully uncomplicated.Copy !req
472. - (Rita chuckles)
- (Cell phone rings)Copy !req
473. Hello?Copy !req
474. Mr. Morgan, this is Miguel Prado.
I need to see you.Copy !req
475. Right away.Copy !req
476. (Dexter) So much for uncomplicated.Copy !req
477. It almost feels like a piece of art.Copy !req
478. Thank you, sir.
But to me it's more like a story.Copy !req
479. Tell me that story, Mr. Morgan.Copy !req
480. - The encounter started over here.
- Mmm.Copy !req
481. The scuff marks on the linoleum,
the crumpling of the throw rug,Copy !req
482. they all have a directional quality
that leads to...Copy !req
483. Now this is where your brother and Freebo...Copy !req
484. He's my lieutenant's prime suspect...Copy !req
485. But you know that.Copy !req
486. There was a brutal struggle.Copy !req
487. I gotta say, it looks like
your brother fought like a hero...Copy !req
488. but he was overmatched and sustained
a fatal stab wound to his chest.Copy !req
489. Everything about the blood suggests
that your brother bled out almost instantly.Copy !req
490. - He didn't suffer?
- Blood never lies.Copy !req
491. So now I know how he died.Copy !req
492. The question is why.Copy !req
493. One more thing, Mr. Morgan.Copy !req
494. Why would a blood spatter analystCopy !req
495. spend time searching
the sheriff department's databaseCopy !req
496. for information on my dead brother?Copy !req
497. Um...Copy !req
498. Like you, sir, I wanted to understand
what happened here.Copy !req
499. I thought that knowing some details
about your brother's lifeCopy !req
500. would help me make sense
out of his death.Copy !req
501. In your line of work, Mr. Morgan,
is it usual for you to get so involved?Copy !req
502. I just sounded like a prosecutor there.Copy !req
503. I'm sorry.Copy !req
504. It's not a problem, sir, and no,
it's not usual for me to get so involved,Copy !req
505. but this one, this death, got to me.Copy !req
506. It's just...
It seems so unreal that, uh...Copy !req
507. he's gone.Copy !req
508. Yeah, I know.Copy !req
509. So a man dies, Mr. Morgan, and what's left,
his soul? And what is that exactly?Copy !req
510. I really couldn't tell you.Copy !req
511. Cause some people say
the soul just lives on forever.Copy !req
512. - I hope not.
- Which makes you a cynic.Copy !req
513. It makes me a scientist.Copy !req
514. So no one you've ever loved has died?Copy !req
515. My father died when I was in my 20s.Copy !req
516. And you don't believe that...Copy !req
517. that his soul,
call it his life force, is still here?Copy !req
518. Somehow it's living inside you?Copy !req
519. Because I...Copy !req
520. - I should have been there for him.
- You can't blame yourself, sir.Copy !req
521. That's easier said than done,
Mr. Morgan.Copy !req
522. Do me a favor. You really want
to get to know my brother like you say,Copy !req
523. come to his wake tonight.
Come see how much and how...Copy !req
524. how fully he was loved.Copy !req
525. OK.Copy !req
526. I've taken up enough of your day.
Thank you.Copy !req
527. Dexter.Copy !req
528. These reports final?Copy !req
529. Blood specimens I collected all came back
belonging to Oscar Prado.Copy !req
530. Trace prints on and around the victim
all point to Freebo.Copy !req
531. Anyone out there talking?Copy !req
532. Officer Morgan was hitting up
the usual firewall of clammed-up witnessesCopy !req
533. and non-witnesses,
so I put her in touch with an old CI of mine.Copy !req
534. - Hopefully...
- Hey, Quinn.Copy !req
535. That CI you put me on
was totally useless for Freebo.Copy !req
536. - Sadly, it's not a perfect world.
- Yeah.Copy !req
537. For all we know,
Freebo's in Nebraska by now.Copy !req
538. - I guess you don't owe me that favor, then.
- How come he gets favors?Copy !req
539. Oh, he doesn't.
But what the CI told me about the victim...Copy !req
540. he wasn't some hero coach who went
into the hood and took one for the team.Copy !req
541. What do you mean?Copy !req
542. Oscar Prado was into Freebo
for some serious cash.Copy !req
543. Now why would someone be
into a drug dealer for big bucks?Copy !req
544. - Shh!
- Because Oscar Prado,Copy !req
545. the pride of Little Havana,
was a fucking junkie!Copy !req
546. Thanks, Maria.Copy !req
547. Good one, Morgan.Copy !req
548. She's been in better moods.Copy !req
549. - I didn't exactly brighten her day.
- No, you didn't.Copy !req
550. Excuse me for doing my fucking job.Copy !req
551. You see any other supercops
coming in here with any leads?Copy !req
552. - You're definitely amazing but you gotta...
- I know, be aware of my surroundings,Copy !req
553. take the temperature of the room
before I open my mouth.Copy !req
554. - It's a bad habit. I admit it.
- Well, look on the bright side.Copy !req
555. Now that you've given up
men, booze and cigarettes,Copy !req
556. running your mouth's
the only bad habit you have left.Copy !req
557. That's right.
I'm a model of fucking perfection.Copy !req
558. - You remember what today is, right?
- How could I forget?Copy !req
559. 7:30. I'll buy your first drink.Copy !req
560. - (Knocks)
- You wanted to see me?Copy !req
561. Siéntate.Copy !req
562. I need you to think about
Debra Morgan's continued involvementCopy !req
563. on the Oscar Prado case.Copy !req
564. You want me to throw her under the bus
for being overzealous?Copy !req
565. It's not about zeal. It's about tact and
sensitivity. It's also about the real world.Copy !req
566. This case is as high profile as it gets.
Óyeme, Angel.Copy !req
567. Morgan is resourceful and tenacious and
usually the right amount of pain-in-the-ass.Copy !req
568. But there are political ramifications.Copy !req
569. My history with Miguel Prado aside,
this case is just too big for her.Copy !req
570. Just say the word
and I will follow your orders.Copy !req
571. Becoming a Homicide sergeant
is more than just a bump in pay scale.Copy !req
572. It's a quantum leap in responsibility.
All part of moving up the chain.Copy !req
573. If I bounce her, she'll hate me.Copy !req
574. You're her boss, Angel, not her friend.Copy !req
575. It's up to you.Copy !req
576. (Miguel) He touched many people,
many hearts.Copy !req
577. Qué bien que viniste.Copy !req
578. - Can I get another cranberry juice?
- That makes three. Problems down under?Copy !req
579. Jeez, I like the fucking taste, OK?Copy !req
580. Miss you, Dad.Copy !req
581. - My condolences.
- Thank you for coming.Copy !req
582. Losing my brother,Copy !req
583. it's going to leave a pain in my heart
that I don't think is ever going to heal.Copy !req
584. You have a brother, Dexter?Copy !req
585. No, just the one loud sister.Copy !req
586. What she said back at the station,
it's OK.Copy !req
587. I know my brother was a good man.Copy !req
588. But I can't say that he suffered
from the tragedy of perfection.Copy !req
589. Who does?Copy !req
590. Who indeed?Copy !req
591. Hey, brother. The mayor's here.Copy !req
592. (Dexter) You attacked me with a knife
in a dope dealer's house.Copy !req
593. No, Oscar, you certainly did not suffer
from the tragedy of perfection.Copy !req
594. Then why does this feel so wrong?Copy !req
595. Why in your death
are you still so alive in my life?Copy !req
596. Did you know him well?Copy !req
597. Not as well as I thought.Copy !req
598. Sorry.Copy !req
599. Cuervo Black.Copy !req
600. Thanks.Copy !req
601. Harry.Copy !req
602. - What the hell is that?
- Cranberry juice. That gonna be a problem?Copy !req
603. Not even close to a problem.Copy !req
604. But the taste, kind of funky.Copy !req
605. You know, by the time my dad
was my age, he already had his shield.Copy !req
606. Kinda why I'm here.Copy !req
607. I'm taking you off
the Oscar Prado case.Copy !req
608. I come up with grade-A intel
on Oscar Prado,Copy !req
609. and I'm getting tossed off the case
for being a little loud?Copy !req
610. In a nutshell.Copy !req
611. - LaGuerta put you up to this?
- It was my decision.Copy !req
612. I'll tell you one thing, Angel...Copy !req
613. I'm not letting anyone
get in the way of me getting my shield.Copy !req
614. There's only one person in this department
who can get in your way.Copy !req
615. Who?Copy !req
616. You.Copy !req
617. Can I get a real fucking drink, please?Copy !req
618. My sister still lives her life
trying to please our father.Copy !req
619. Me...Copy !req
620. I'm following the lead
of an eight-year-old kid.Copy !req
621. I'm moving on.Copy !req
622. Thank you for last night.Copy !req
623. It was a nice surprise.Copy !req
624. This is where I wanted to be.Copy !req
625. Again? (Chuckles)Copy !req
626. All I want is chocolate pudding... and you.Copy !req
627. Not necessarily in that order.Copy !req
628. Morgan.Copy !req
629. - Where the fuck were you last night?
- Rita's.Copy !req
630. - It wasn't Rita's night.
- Turns out it was.Copy !req
631. - I called you.
- I know.Copy !req
632. - And you ignored me?
- Not you. Harry.Copy !req
633. Deb...Copy !req
634. I'm in a whole 'nother place when it comes
to Dad. I'm working out some personal stuff.Copy !req
635. You are such a fucking guy.Copy !req
636. What is this, you gotta kill your father so you
can become your own man kind of bullshit?Copy !req
637. Dad wasn't perfect...Copy !req
638. but he was there for you.Copy !req
639. - Deb, wait.
- What?Copy !req
640. I'm sorry I didn't notice your haircut.Copy !req
641. So what is it? Is it too short,
too young, too dorky, what?Copy !req
642. It's beautiful.Copy !req
643. Beautiful?Copy !req
644. You just said "beautiful".Copy !req
645. Yeah, I did, cause it is.Copy !req
646. (Sighs) Looks like you honored Dad
for both of us last night anyway.Copy !req
647. I had some help.Copy !req
648. (Chuckles) You getting along
with the new boss man?Copy !req
649. Oh, fuck him. He took me off
the Oscar Prado case and put me on this.Copy !req
650. Some dead-end Jane Doe.Copy !req
651. A couple of ladies of the night
called this in...Copy !req
652. - (Sirens)
- Oh, Madre de Dios.Copy !req
653. Could you turn that thing off?Copy !req
654. - (Siren stops)
- We'll work quietly.Copy !req
655. About halfway through your article, Vince.
So far, very moving.Copy !req
656. Yeah, I was trying to make
second-tier chromosomal analysis sexy.Copy !req
657. Glad you're picking up on it.Copy !req
658. - Strangled.
- No blood. I'm the blood guy.Copy !req
659. - Why call me in?
- Because of this.Copy !req
660. - Looks like our evildoer had an agenda.
- Maybe it was a tattoo or something.Copy !req
661. Dex, I need to know
if this was ante or postmortem.Copy !req
662. Teegan.Copy !req
663. Freebo's girlfriend.Copy !req
664. Looks like he's still in Miami.Copy !req
665. Oye.Copy !req
666. - You talk to Morgan yet?
- Yep.Copy !req
667. How'd she take it?Copy !req
668. - There were curse words involved.
- You did good.Copy !req
669. Sergeant.Copy !req
670. Way to be.Copy !req
671. Thank you.Copy !req
672. (Dentist) There you go, Dexter.
Good as new.Copy !req
673. - (Bell)
- Hold the elevator. Hold...Copy !req
674. Asshole.Copy !req
675. Sorry. Sergeant Asshole.Copy !req
676. Vamos, Masuka, Quinn.Copy !req
677. iVamos!
We got some celebrating to do.Copy !req
678. - You can still drink after last night?
- A man has his needs.Copy !req
679. You can go back to your
cute little cranberry juice.Copy !req
680. Nah, it tastes like shit. I'm gonna
have a mojito or ten on you, Sarge.Copy !req
681. (Amado) Morgan.Copy !req
682. (Debra) You so have the wrong person.Copy !req
683. Oh, there's a good reason
why Quinn's of interest to IA.Copy !req
684. No, understand me. When I say
you have the wrong person, I mean me.Copy !req
685. These people are more than badge
numbers to me. They're my friends.Copy !req
686. - They're my family.
- Shh! Listen.Copy !req
687. That's the sound of your shield
calling for help.Copy !req
688. Harry said that what was inside me
would be there forever.Copy !req
689. And that I wouldn't be able to change.Copy !req
690. He was half right.Copy !req
691. Killing Oscar Prado
was a bell I can't un-ring.Copy !req
692. I have moved on from my father, but
I still need his code, now more than ever.Copy !req
693. But it has to evolve,
become my own.Copy !req
694. Change is good.Copy !req
695. Hey, you.Copy !req
696. Hey, yourself.Copy !req
697. This music again?Copy !req
698. Chocolate pudding again?Copy !req
699. - Oh, shit.
- What?Copy !req
700. I've done this before.Copy !req
701. - What do you mean?
- I'm pregnant.Copy !req
