1. It's impossible.

2. We're demon hunters.

3. Getting killed by the impossible's an everyday hazard.

4. This time is different.

5. We have no recorded cases of any demon higher than Type 2.

6. But these demons, what they could do...

7. Their power level marks them as Type 4s.

8. At least.

9. The real question is, where's this apocalypse at, huh?

10. After all the hype, I'm almost disappointed.

11. Whatcha mean?

12. I mean, the Rabbit has Sparda's sword and both halves of the amulet.

13. That's everything it needs to blow our world wide open.

14. So, why is this wall still standing?

15. You can ask it in person.

16. The amulet stopped a few miles north.

17. This dumbfuck devil spawn has no idea it's leading us right to it.

18. Grab what you need, we leave in 60.

19. I'll admit I had doubts about you.

20. But the way you charged in to take the Rabbit on solo...

21. You've got some elite-sized balls. Can you stand?

22. 100%, Lieutenant. Absolutely. Good to go.

23. Maybe just a little longer.

24. Sit tight. We'll call Evac for you.

25. I can take his place, Lieutenant.

26. That blast from the Rabbit's sword laid me out, but I'm good now.

27. I want to see this mission through to the end.

28. Shh.

29. If you hadn't gotten me out of the way...

30. I know.

31. Just try a little harder not to get yourself killed this time.

32. All right?

33. No promises.

34. Let's go get this carrot-munching motherfucker.

35. You have to keep this safe, always.

36. You promise?

37. I promise.

38. Where's mine? I want mine now.

39. - Vergil, do you promise to take— - Yeah, I promise. Give it.

40. There.

41. Two perfect halves of a whole.

42. I think mine's bigger.

43. No, it's not. Let me see.

44. Hey.

45. Okay, boys, that's enough.

46. I said enough!

47. I'm not sleepy enough.

48. You're never sleepy.

49. Why can't you be more like your brother?

50. Okay, what story do you want tonight?

51. Tell me about Dad.

52. Do we get to meet him soon?

53. All right, I'll tell you a story about Dad.

54. But after that you have to go to sleep.

55. Your dad...

56. Your dad...

57. Son of Sparda.

58. Why does my head feel like this?

59. I'd say it's a miracle it feels like anything.

60. Enzo?

61. Hey, good news, kid.

62. Looks like you're still alive.

63. The bad news is we're prisoners again.

64. So, you did survive the bomb.

65. By his hand, all things are possible.

66. I know your voice, and your face.

67. Aren't you the guy in those mattress commercials?

68. Close.

69. - He's the vice president. - Oh.

70. You're awake.

71. Remind me again,

72. which of you is the Human Torch knockoff, and which is the talking leaf blower?

73. You sure you want to be insulting us right now?

74. And he's obviously the leaf blower. Come on!

75. Agni, the video.

76. Right. Rabbit left a video for you.

77. Trust me. It's a good one.

78. - You've got to put the thing in the— - I know!

79. It's not my fault the humans made the hole too small.

80. Dante, have you considered what I told you?

81. You mean what you said about my soul being dirty?

82. I said that God may yet redeem you, regardless of your origins.

83. Surely you see how he must have a plan for you,

84. to bring you back from the brink of death.

85. No disrespect, Mr. Vice, but these guys knew your exact location

86. and jacked your plane like it was nothing.

87. I think death's still very much on the table for all of us.

88. No.

89. This isn't where my death will come.

90. How do you know?

91. Because God will not allow it

92. until the purpose he intends for me is fulfilled.

93. We are all servants of the Lord's plan,

94. willingly or not.

95. Got it!

96. Welcome aboard Air Force Two.

97. We ask that you please pay attention to the screen

98. for an important safety announcement.

99. You're all going to die.

100. That is, unless the son of Sparda can save you.

101. Son of a what? Huh?

102. Looks like the amulet's on the top floor.

103. Along with the Rabbit, I'm betting.

104. Strange hideout for a demon bunny.

105. What did you expect? Some sort of giant underground burrow?

106. I mean, I don't know.

107. Kinda.

108. Backup's still four minutes out.

109. We can't wait.

110. That thing could put the sword and the amulet together

111. and end the world anytime it wants.

112. We go in now.

113. Take the stairs and stay sharp.

114. We have to be ready for any kind of fucked up demon bull—

115. shit.

116. This is Ninja for HQ. HQ, do you copy?

117. Anyone? God damn it.

118. Attention all residents.

119. A terrorist group known as "DARKCOM" has just entered the building.

120. Their intentions are extremely hostile.

121. I'm not asking you to fight them.

122. I'm simply encouraging it.

123. Anyone caught engaging with them in a friendly or neutral manner

124. will be subject to immediate execution.

125. Have a great day.

126. God damn.

127. Who the hell else does he have locked in here?

128. We walked into his own personal fortress.

129. The mission hasn't changed.

130. We get to the top floor, we get the amulet, we get out.

131. However we can.

132. We're with you. Let's move.

133. Even cut off the communication line.

134. This is way more sophisticated technology than we've seen any of them use before.

135. What kind of demon is this?

136. One slightly worse than your usual landlord.

137. Sentry?

138. An energy sword.

139. Fascinating.

140. Fire!

141. Damn it.

142. I...

143. Stay with me. Please.

144. No!

145. No!

146. Yes, watch them die.

147. After all, it was you who marched them straight into our warm embrace.

148. Embrace this.

149. Shit.

150. Yes, Dante, I've known your true origins for some time,

151. and if you're honest with yourself, you know it too.

152. You must have accepted by now you have demon blood.

153. Would just any hybrid,

154. the child of some common brute and a frail sapien,

155. be able to do the things you can do?

156. Why did half of the amulet that Sparda used to seal the rift between realms

157. end up as a piece of your jewelry?

158. The deadbeat father you never met,

159. who abandoned your family without a thought,

160. was the noble and exalted demon knight Sparda.

161. Right, Sparda.

162. Sure thing.

163. - Can you believe this guy? - Huh?

164. I could go on and on listing evidence, but really, look at you.

165. Everything about you marks you as a child of aristocracy.

166. You know nothing of the pain and misery in our world,

167. what your father dooms us to with his sadistic barrier.

168. He rebelled against a brutal tyrant,

169. then locked us in a cell together

170. while he lived as a hero among humans.

171. Sparda was nothing but a narcissistic coward.

172. You've done his legacy proud.

173. Damn.

174. You gonna let him talk about your dad like that?

175. Sorry.

176. Got off on a tangent there.

177. The point is, the plane you're on is rigged with explosives,

178. which my men will detonate momentarily.

179. Leaving everyone plunging toward a squishy and undignified end.

180. But not to worry,

181. as Sparda's son, it should be simple for you to activate your Devil Trigger

182. and save them all.

183. I'd bet on it.

184. Wow, my good buddy and protégé, the son of Sparda.

185. Come on, even if my dad might have been demon, Sparda isn't real.

186. He's their version of the boogeyman.

187. No, he's real.

188. So real.

189. Take it from us who've been living with the fallout of his betrayal

190. for the last two millennia.

191. Ha, see? Two millennia.

192. You really think my dad is a demon from 200,000 years ago?

193. How old do I look?

194. I'm sure you're aware that demons age differently than humans.

195. It is entirely possible that Sparda lived long enough to be your father,

196. or that he lives still.

197. Dante, I've always known you were part demon.

198. All right, I didn't know. I suspected.

199. Had an inkling, maybe.

200. I just couldn't figure how,

201. but you being Sparda's son explains everything.

202. He's the good demon.

203. He fought for us against them.

204. That's what's in your blood. You get it?

205. Let's see if he's right.

206. You heard Rabbit.

207. Either you stop us, or we blow them out of the sky.

208. It's all right, everyone,

209. Dante is going to use that Devil Trigger of his to save us.

210. What is a Devil Trigger, anyway?

211. No idea.

212. Great. We're going to die.

213. No, we're not.

214. I don't need any kind of trigger to beat these two.

215. What are they going to do? Form half a Captain Planet?

216. I wouldn't be so cocky, mate.

217. After all,

218. you failed at saving your own mom and brother.

219. Oh, yeah.

220. Rabbit knows all about what happened to them too.

221. How you just hid and watched as they died.

222. I was a helpless kid when those demons attacked us.

223. I'm not one anymore.

224. Well, let's see if we can't make you feel a little nostalgic.

225. Lieutenant.

226. You did this.

227. You killed us.

228. Just like you killed...

229. No.

230. Mary.

231. Dad?

232. Look at what you've done.

233. This isn't real. You're not real.

234. You're real.

235. Go away. Get out of here.

236. There's nowhere to go.

237. I know the Rabbit threatened you, has everyone here hostage,

238. but there is a demon right behind me.

239. You're with those soldiers. We don't want any trouble.

240. There are no more soldiers.

241. The demons killed them all.

242. It's just me. Please.

243. Quickly.

244. Open.

245. No, no.

246. Now, please, just go and leave us.

247. Poor little half-breed.

248. Gets hit with one measly fireball, and turns into a whimpering baby.

249. Seems like that strength Sparda gave you won't be much use up here.

250. As useless as the man himself.

251. The way we heard it, he didn't even bother showing up to protect you.

252. Ooh, watch out for the left!

253. Look on the bright side.

254. After watching your whole family die,

255. watching these people die should be easy for you.

256. Aw.

257. The one time you're fighting for something other than yourself,

258. and this is how you do it?

259. Rabbit was right about you.

260. You're just like your dad.

261. Your dad...

262. Your dad was a brave warrior.

263. The bravest who ever lived.

264. He fought against all the bad things so we could be free.

265. Huh?

266. You're right.

267. I am like him.

268. Truly remarkable.

269. Wow. What is that?

270. I think this is the Devil Trigger.

271. Also, I think I'm the son of Sparda.

272. I've been trying to tell you.

273. He's ready. Blow the charges.

274. Yeah.

275. Just give me a second to kill him first.

276. We could say he died in the blast.

277. Getting killed with your own sword...

278. that'd be embarrassing.

279. Brother!

280. We risked everything to hide you.

281. Now you turn your gun on us? On our kids?

282. We want nothing from you. Just leave, please.

283. Your friend slaughtered my team.

284. You think we're with...

285. with them?

286. She's a sapien.

287. Of course she thinks all demons are the same.

288. If you're not with the White Rabbit's gang,

289. why are you here?

290. We... We needed a way out. He had one.

291. A way out of where?

292. Makai.

293. You call it the Demon Realm, or Hell.

294. But it's not Hell.

295. It's worse.

296. A desolate place, barely suited for life.

297. And that was before the warlords ravaged what few resources we had,

298. and turned the atmosphere toxic.

299. Only the strongest Makaians can stand to breathe it.

300. For those like us...

301. The air itself is poison.

302. Children rarely survive their first year.

303. We couldn't accept that fate.

304. Weak-ass sob story.

305. It doesn't explain how the overgrown rodent got you into our realm.

306. With a device that he built.

307. He showed up with it a year ago,

308. offering passage to this world for anyone who wanted.

309. Dozens of families like us came.

310. We did it so our children could live,

311. and live in a better world.

312. Then we realized, there is no better world for us.

313. Sapiens hate and fear our kind.

314. We'll never be able to mix openly amongst you.

315. We have no choice but to stay here in hiding,

316. doing whatever that lunatic tells us,

317. and turning a blind eye to... to his...

318. To his what?

319. The children who are orphans, he does tests on them.

320. Experiments.

321. All we're trying to do is survive.

322. Like you.

323. I know better than to trust the words of a demon,

324. but after everything that's happened,

325. maybe I don't actually know shit.

326. My backup should be outside by now.

327. I'll find a way to get them in, then I'm going Rabbit hunting.

328. I'll make sure you're protected.

329. You and the other...

330. families.

331. You killed my brother.

332. But unlike yours,

333. he will have vengeance.

334. Don't do it.

335. Oh, shit!

336. IN MEMORY OF KEVIN CONROY
