223. And I'm gonna need a lot of your help, I suppose you

225. Uh, like in there, uh there's two little

226. frames and they're empty.

227. And there doesn't seem to be anything

228. around that fits inside.

231. He thought that one of 'em had some dancing girls, but I

232. don't think he knows much about art either.

233. Uh, he also said, that a lot of these things

234. have just been re-hung.

235. That they had just come back from some kind of a traveling

236. exhibit.

237. - Yes, that's what those crates are.

239. I unpacked most of them myself.

240. - Yeah, you know, I noticed that a piece of that wrapping

241. paper had been torn loose.

242. - These two are listed in the exhibit catalogue.

243. I've got that in here somewhere.

245. - Those were the two that were taken?

247. - Hey, they're beautiful.

248. They're two of my favorites.

249. Degas pastels.

250. - Pastels?

251. You mean like the kids use in school?

253. These two alone together happen to be worth over a half

254. million dollars.

255. You know, that's funny, too.

257. There wasn't a painting in this entire exhibit that's

258. worth under $50,000.

259. - No, I mean that out there, somebody picked

260. the Birnbaum first.

261. Then when you're uncle interfered, then when he went

262. to his desk and took out a gun, then when he was killed,

263. in the middle of all that, then, the thief suddenly got

264. smart and he took two of the most valuable paintings in

265. house and he ran.

266. - I guess that does seem a bit inconsistent, doesn't it?

267. Then life has its own inconsistencies.

337. kind with the owner, the gallery, the insurance
