1. Wait.

2. Do you understand what you are, devil?

3. You were created to obey.

4. To obey me.

5. And that is all you were created for.

6. Mm-hmm?

7. Was it the witch?

8. Does her magic give her power over you?

9. Or was there some error in how you were made?

10. This is what you are.

11. - Do you understand?

12. You exist only for me.

13. If this Forgemaster is in the Abbey, the Abbot must be his prisoner.

14. Or the Abbot invited him in.

15. That's impossible. He's a good man.

16. When I first came to Machecoul, it was the Abbot who helped me.

17. Though when you think about it, the Church in alliance with evil,

18. we were stupid not to think of it before.

19. But vampires, Maria?

20. If you look at the history of the Church, it'd be hardly surprising.

21. Well, maybe a bit surprising.

22. Are you all right?

23. You can't be sure that was him.

24. When someone dies, someone you love,

25. for a long time, you think you see them everywhere.

26. They were his eyes.

27. I don't know anything about night creatures,

28. but I don't think you do either.

29. I know it's awful to think your friend was turned into one of them, but—

30. I abandoned him, and they killed him.

31. I cannot abandon him now.

32. So, what do you want to do? Rescue him?

33. Even if it is Edouard,

34. maybe he doesn't want to be rescued, Annette.

35. Or maybe he can't be.

36. Maybe the only way to save him would be to kill him.

37. And face it, he's already dead.

38. If the Abbot is the Forgemaster's prisoner,

39. can you abandon him?

40. We can't just charge into the Abbey hoping to defeat a fucking powerful sorcerer

41. and liberate all our friends.

42. I don't want a repeat of what happened at the château.

43. So you're afraid.

44. I'm not afraid. I'm saying we need a plan.

45. We have magic.

46. - Or three of us do.

47. If I can't save Edouard, yes, I will kill him. It would be a mercy.

48. Oh, just walk in and kill him. That sounds foolproof.

49. The Abbey's made of stone.

50. I can bury them in their own church, bring it crashing down around their heads.

51. How will that help the Abbot?

52. If he's in league with the bastards, which he probably is,

53. we don't want to help him.

54. Yeah, but we don't know yet one way or the other.

55. We need a plan.

56. And since I'm not much good at plans, it would be really fucking useful

57. if you would all start thinking of one.

58. A proper plan, not "walk in, make a few snap decisions about

59. who deserves to live or die, and then turn everything to rubble."

60. We're all afraid, Richter.

61. Of course we are.

62. I've only been afraid once in all my life,

63. and I was 10.

64. You know what it's like to watch your mother die, you said.

65. She was killed by a vampire, wasn't she?

66. She was a Belmont.

67. - I know it haunts your dreams. - She was doing her duty.

68. Usually, everyone says I'm too rash.

69. The moment I say we need a plan, everyone starts calling me a coward.

70. No one's calling you a coward, Richter.

71. You're not cowards.

72. You're just children with no experience of the world.

73. No experience of the hard choices adults have to make.

74. There's another way in.

75. There's a secret underground passageway into the Abbey.

76. How do you know that?

77. We need to know the truth, don't we?

78. What is what, who is who.

79. If we have friends left or only enemies.

80. This time, I'm coming with you.

81. The Messiah knows, I presume, that your Abbot is a Forgemaster.

82. Of course she knows.

83. She wouldn't be very interested in him if he was just an abbot.

84. So, she knows he means to betray her.

85. He thinks the devils he manufactures will be enough to destroy her

86. when the time comes.

87. What do you think? Do you think he's right?

88. I don't know what you're talking about.

89. This alliance can't last.

90. The moment you've crushed your enemies, she'll turn on you.

91. The gamble is you wage war and you prevail.

92. Are you sure this path is right?

93. There's evil everywhere we look.

94. So we use our heads.

95. Or lose them.

96. Your concern is very touching.

97. So he bribed some demon to give him this power,

98. build him a machine, promise him victory.

99. What was the cost?

100. You already know the cost.

101. And who pays it? Just him or all of you?

102. Will you?

103. Which demon?

104. Which demon will claim his price when all this is done?

105. Does it matter?

106. Of course.

107. There are petty demon princelings you can haggle with and cheat.

108. There are demon charlatans whose faces you can laugh in, spit in.

109. There are demons who once were gods… and those who still are.

110. There's only one God.

111. Just one.

112. That's the only thing I'm sure of.

113. And I've spent my whole life serving him,

114. fighting for him.

115. That hasn't changed,

116. and it never will.

117. One God.

118. And you think he can protect you?

119. This was made long before the Abbot and his monks came from Malta.

120. You just happened to stumble upon it one day while you're out picking flowers?

121. It leads into the cellars.

122. Father Abbot.

123. May I introduce Emissary Drolta Tzuentes.

124. You were praying, how sweet.

125. And what a pretty church.

126. I imagine you don't see a lot of churches.

127. Oh, it takes more than the house of God

128. to cause me to combust,

129. if that's what you mean.

130. Sunlight though, I see.

131. For now.

132. He must have searched so deep in his soul,

133. prayed so hard, before he was sure… of this,

134. of his need for us.

135. Of its inevitability.

136. And, of course, I understand.

137. I'm not a fool.

138. It must be stuck in your craw like a chicken bone…

139. - …threatening to choke you.

140. I haven't choked yet, and nor has your mistress.

141. Though, in her case, it wouldn't be so much a chicken bone as a what?

142. Hmm, the ribs of some infants?

143. My mistress, the Messiah.

144. Your soul must scream in outrage at the very thought.

145. My soul is at peace.

146. Which yours will never be.

147. I like him. He's feisty.

148. The survival of his world in the balance, but he's not afraid to insult me.

149. Or he can't control his temper or his pride,

150. or he's a fucking moron.

151. It wasn't our intention to insult you.

152. Oh. Did you think we were flirting?

153. I know it's all about sex with you priests, but, believe me,

154. you really shouldn't tempt me on that score.

155. You wouldn't like it.

156. Every orifice I possess has teeth.

157. We don't have to pretend to like each other.

158. This is an arrangement convenient to us both

159. because we share a common enemy.

160. The people.

161. We prefer to say the Godless mob.

162. The barbarians who tear our church up from its foundations, brick by brick,

163. and burn what's left.

164. And throw you and your mistress on the flames.

165. Along with us.

166. So, welcome,

167. Emissary Tzuentes, to Machecoul.

168. You can smell the evil down here.

169. Do you really think you could kill him?

170. He's someone you love.

171. Even if he's become a monster.

172. He could never be a monster.

173. So what will you do?

174. So, night creatures.

175. The Marquis has helpfully provided you with sundry corpses.

176. You must have a fair few by now.

177. Eighteen in total. There will be more.

178. My mistress expects a lot more. How long will it take to make them?

179. I will honor my side of the agreement,

180. as will you, I trust.

181. Our people are expecting Joan of Arc. Someone they can believe in.

182. Oh, yes, that's a delicious touch.

183. The holy warrior queen, we love that.

184. I assure you, my mistress won't disappoint.

185. I'd love to meet some. Night creatures.

186. Have a little tour of the workshop.

187. Where is it?

188. You, handsome, feisty, glowering one,

189. show me the demon machine.

190. Please tell me it's downstairs,

191. because all this sunlight is giving me a headache.

192. What extraordinary thing happened here?

193. What crime did you commit?

194. I smell pain, regret, despair.

195. A human soul.

196. I don't know what happened,

197. who I am,

198. what— what I am,

199. but I want my freedom.

200. Don't we all?

201. We're here for the truth.

202. Because of people we care about.

203. But we all know there'll be night creatures,

204. and we don't know how many.

205. I'm a Belmont. I kill demons.

206. It's what we do.

207. It's what we all do.

208. Stay close.

209. Do they all do that?

210. Drolta Tzuentes.

211. Edouard.

212. She's a child.

213. The slaughter of children isn't part of our bargain.

214. I hope you don't have a weak stomach, Father Abbot.

215. My mistress would be severely disappointed.

216. Shit!

217. Edouard.

218. I'm so sorry.

219. We crossed an ocean… didn't we?

220. We thought we could change the world.

221. I can make it quick, Edouard.

222. No pain.

223. Send you to my mother in the spirit world.

224. - Come back. I'm sorry! I'm sorry!

225. Ed— I'm sorry, Edouard. I thought that's what you wanted.

226. - Edouard! Edouard!

227. What about that one? Is she grown up enough for me to kill?

228. I am Richter Belmont.

229. - Last descendant of the Belmont Clan.

230. And I kill vampires!

231. - Who's fucking next?

232. What have you done?

233. The world is in danger, Tera.

234. The kingdom of God itself is under threat.

235. I have to protect it.

236. Or maybe we protect the world by killing you.

237. - Little boy Belmont.

238. All grown up.

239. We have to go. We have to get out of here. We have to fucking go!

240. I'll be back for you, I promise!

241. This one?

242. He was just an opportunist,

243. following the Messiah because she's powerful.

244. But there are those who love her, so I'm told.

245. I'm Olrox. She's expecting me.

246. Oh!

247. Of course. The— What's the word? Aztec.

248. Just sailed in. Loving France.

249. You've lost some night creatures. See that they're replaced.

250. We'll need them.

251. Very soon.

252. Richter!

253. Richter!

254. Where's he gone?

255. What happened?

256. He ran away.

257. He ran the fuck away.

258. He saw his nightmare made flesh.

259. Now, everywhere we look, there are nightmares.

260. Terrors rising from the earth.
