Better Call Saul 6x13

1. Slow down.

2. You're gonna make yourself sick.

3. You know,

4. we're sitting on 7 million bucks here.

5. Literally.

6. And?

7. I say we take it, split it 50-50...

8. take off.

9. It's not ours.

10. Could be.

11. Yeah? Well, I know some people who'd have a problem with that.

12. Them?

13. Don't worry about them.

14. You feeling right?

15. First thing we do,

16. take 6 million bucks and build a time machine.

17. Those people that you're worried about?

18. They'll never find us.

19. Where would you go first, huh?

20. - You look like a history buff. - Hm.

21. What, would you go to Civil War times

22. or ancient Rome?

23. Oh, Christ.

24. Huh.

25. Hm...

26. December 8, 2001.

27. Why?

28. No, no.

29. March 17, 1984.

30. Day I took my first bribe.

31. And then I'd go forward.

32. There's some people I'd like to check on in five or ten years,

33. make sure they're doing okay.

34. You?

35. It's easy.

36. May 10, 1965.

37. That's the day Warren Buffett took over at Berkshire Hathaway.

38. I figure, got a million left from building the time machine,

39. so I'd take my half and just stick it into Berkshire.

40. And then I come back here, and...

41. I'm a billionaire.

42. Is there such a thing as a trillionaire?

43. That's it? Money?

44. What else?

45. Nothing you'd change?

46. I'm rested.

47. - Marion, are you still there? - Yes.

48. It's a little car, beige.

49. I... I don't know the make.

50. 64P...

51. FT6.

52. He's headed south, towards Curtis.

53. Oh, please, get him.

54. 12-42 responding.

55. Dispatch, on that 10-29 V as in Victor.

56. That's a Saturn Aura?

57. That is correct, Saturn Aura. Nebraska, 6-4-Paul-Frank-Tom...

58. White male, late 40s, about 5'11", 180 pounds.

59. U g h!

60. "Hoover Max Extract Pressure-Pro Model 60."

61. Hoover Pressure-Pro Max Extract Model 60.

62. O h!

63. Anybody home?

64. Hands now.

65. I was at a party, just minding my own business.

66. You are under arrest.

67. I'd better call Saul.

68. Hi, I'm Saul Goodman.

69. Did you know that you have rights?

70. Constitution says you do. And so do I.

71. I believe that until proven guilty,

72. every man, woman and child in this country is innocent.

73. And that's why I fight for you, Albuquerque.

74. Hello, Krista. It's Gene.

75. Uh, sorry I wasn't in this morning.

76. Did you open up okay?

77. I'm fine.

78. Could you do me a favor?

79. The week's rotation needs to be posted by 3.

80. Could you handle that?

81. Now, one more thing.

82. Just call the main office. The number is on the bulletin board.

83. And, uh, let them know, um...

84. you're gonna need a new manager.

85. This is how they get you?

86. This is how they get you?

87. This is how they get you?

88. This is how they get you?

89. This is how they get you?

90. This is how they get you?

91. Jesus.

92. What were you thinking?

93. What were you thinking?

94. Shit.

95. Hey!

96. I need another phone call!

97. Another phone call!

98. William Oakley and Associates. Trust experience, trust Oakley.

99. Bill Oakley speaking.

100. "Trust experience, trust Oakley." I like that. It's catchy.

101. You know who this is, right?

102. Saul?

103. You got it, buddy.

104. What... What are you, uh...? Uh...

105. What are you doing?

106. You know, I'll have to report this call.

107. Whoa, calm down, junior.

108. The cops know all about the call. They're probably listening in.

109. The fact is, I'm standing in the middle of a police station as we speak.

110. So they finally caught you.

111. Listen, this is your lucky day.

112. I am talking to Saul Goodman's new advisory counsel.

113. What?

114. Keep up, Bill. You hit the jackpot.

115. Advisory counsel?

116. This puts you on the map, amigo.

117. Here's what you're gonna do.

118. You're gonna grab a flight to Omaha, Nebraska ASAP.

119. There's nothing direct, so you'll have to connect through Houston.

120. Who's paying for this?

121. - You are. Listen, you hear that? - Hear what?

122. Bang, bang! That's opportunity knocking.

123. Get off your ass, and answer the door.

124. - Okay, on your way, make some calls. - Wait, wait. Hold on.

125. Even supposing hypothetically I'd be willing to take this on...

126. Willing? Bill, this is a career-maker.

127. Get real. You're doing this.

128. The DA has a warehouse of evidence against you.

129. I can't even begin to imagine what the feds are sitting on.

130. No matter who your lawyer is,

131. you are screwed.

132. So I gotta ask, where do you see this ending?

133. Where do I see it ending? Um...

134. With me on top, like always.

135. - RICO. - Not five, not ten,

136. but 27 predicate violations.

137. Federal conspiracy to manufacture and distribute a controlled substance.

138. On this scale? Life sentence, stat max.

139. Money laundering.

140. Eight counts, 20 years each.

141. One hundred sixty years, stat max.

142. We'll argue for consecutive sentencing.

143. Accessory after the fact to multiple murders.

144. Including two decorated federal officers.

145. Fifteen years each.

146. By our count, that's life plus...

147. One hundred ninety.

148. Life plus 190 years.

149. All right.

150. I'm willing to extend a one-time, take-it-or-leave-it offer.

151. Here's the headline.

152. Thirty years.

153. Keep your nose clean, stay healthy,

154. you have a shot at seeing daylight in your old age.

155. Mr. Oakley, your co-counsel,

156. is he here with us?

157. All right, listen. You've got Agent Schrader's widow back there.

158. Why don't you invite her in?

159. - Wait... - You owe her that much, don't you?

160. She can't be present at a plea negotiation.

161. - It's completely inappropriate. - She's already here.

162. Both parties agree. It's fine, really.

163. They tell me they found you in a garbage dumpster.

164. Well, that makes sense.

165. My husband was the best man that I've ever known.

166. He lived to help others.

167. If somebody was in trouble, no matter the time, no matter the place,

168. Hank Schrader would be there...

169. with a smile and a joke.

170. He was kind.

171. He was decent.

172. He was strong.

173. His partner... Steve Gomez,

174. Steve and Blanca made a home

175. that was warm and full of laughter.

176. Three children.

177. Three fatherless children.

178. Hank and Steve, the good guys...

179. they were shot dead...

180. and left in a hole in the desert.

181. And you...

182. you helped the two-faced poisonous bastard behind it all.

183. For what?

184. Money.

185. You did it all... for money.

186. No matter what they do with you now,

187. no matter where they put you or for how long,

188. it will never be enough.

189. Mrs...

190. Mrs. Schrader...

191. the loss that you've suffered,

192. it's unspeakable.

193. I met your husband a few times.

194. He was a man who stood by his word and was very good at his job.

195. Straight shooter.

196. You and he are... victims.

197. And so am I.

198. Two years ago, a man came into my office.

199. He said his name was Mayhew.

200. He wanted one of my clients to lie under oath.

201. He offered me money.

202. I declined.

203. Any lawyer would.

204. That night, as I was leaving my office,

205. I was attacked.

206. Two men threw a sack over my head.

207. They hogtied me, and they drove me out into the desert.

208. And when they pulled the hood off,

209. I was kneeling in front of an open grave,

210. with a gun pointed at my head.

211. That was my introduction to Walter White.

212. From that moment on...

213. there hasn't been a minute that I wasn't afraid.

214. Yeah, I worked for him.

215. I made a lot of money.

216. But that's not why I did it.

217. I did it because I knew what he would do to me if I refused.

218. Over and over, I thought about going to the police.

219. I even thought about talking to Agent Schrader.

220. But I knew that Walter White would kill me wherever I was.

221. And I was right.

222. You look it up.

223. October 4, 2009.

224. They murdered ten men

225. inside three prisons in the space of two minutes.

226. Knifed.

227. Throats slashed.

228. A man was burned alive.

229. They even killed one of my colleagues, a lawyer.

230. He was cooperating with the DEA.

231. Daniel Wachsberger.

232. The news said Dan...

233. was stabbed 48 times.

234. So, yeah, when it all blew up, I ran.

235. But not from the police.

236. From them.

237. Walter White might be dead.

238. But Jesse Pinkman and the others, they're still out there, somewhere.

239. Mrs. Schrader,

240. you are looking at a man who has lost everything.

241. My profession, my family, my freedom.

242. I have... I have nobody.

243. I have nothing.

244. And you think jurors are gonna buy that?

245. One.

246. All I need is one.

247. Oakley tells me that you've never lost a case.

248. Is that so?

249. It's a hell of a record. You should be proud of that.

250. Still...

251. juries, right?

252. You never can tell. It's a roll of the dice.

253. I'm just... I'm hoping there's some wiggle room.

254. You are not going to negotiate with this man.

255. You're not.

256. After sentence has been imposed

257. on the counts to which defendant pleads guilty,

258. as agreed herein,

259. the government will move to dismiss counts three through nine

260. of the indictment.

261. Based on the facts now known to the government,

262. the anticipated offense level is 35, which, when combined

263. with the anticipated criminal history category of one,

264. results in an anticipated advisory sentencing guidelines range

265. of 85 to 90 months imprisonment

266. in addition to any supervised release,

267. fine, and restitution the court may impose."

268. Seven and a half years.

269. Let's get this thing signed and get the hell out of here.

270. - We're good with that.

271. term to be served at FCI Butner Low, North Carolina,

272. Wing D."

273. FCI Butner Low. It's a great location.

274. Very nice weather.

275. It's the only federal institution with a golf program.

276. It was good enough for Bernie Madoff.

277. This is an actual request?

278. You kidding? I give you guys half a chance,

279. you're gonna throw me into gen pop in some hellhole.

280. I visited a client once at ADX Montrose.

281. "The Alcatraz of the Rockies." No.

282. No, that's a deal-breaker, my friend.

283. FCI Butner Low, Wing...

284. D. Wing D.

285. Wing D.

286. And now we are done.

287. Uh, as Steve Jobs used to say: "One more thing."

288. During incarceration,

289. defendant Goodman to receive one pint Blue Bell Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream

290. every Friday for the duration."

291. Are you kidding? He's kidding.

292. Blue Bell. Mint Chocolate Chip. No substitutions.

293. Okay. That's it.

294. Hold on. I can oil everybody's locks.

295. - No more games. - I got a sweetener.

296. It's nothing I've talked about.

297. New arena. Primo stuff.

298. Go.

299. Inside story, previously unknown felony homicide.

300. Concerns a prominent Albuquerque attorney who, uh, disappeared,

301. believed to have killed himself.

302. Howard Hamlin?

303. You're talking about Howard Hamlin?

304. That's your sweetener?

305. He's trying to sell us the Hamlin thing.

306. He thought he really had something.

307. Sounds like you and your ex aren't talking on a regular basis.

308. Kim Wexler walked into the Albuquerque DA's office last month.

309. She spilled her guts about Howard Hamlin. On the record.

310. You got nothing left to sell.

311. Last chance.

312. Do we go to trial or do we have a deal?

313. Yes. Yes. We have a deal.

314. Let's get this in writing.

315. Not a word changes.

316. Of course.

317. Am I gonna be sorry if I ask what's going on?

318. I'm putting a stop to it.

319. Stop to what?

320. "To what?"

321. Listen. Just listen.

322. That click?

323. The click.

324. The flame is lighting and then it keeps going out.

325. So it's either...

326. a thermocouple that's corroded or we have a short.

327. A thermocouple is corroded. Okay, I got it.

328. Hey, uh, maybe we could just unplug it? Or cut a wire or something?

329. Listen, I...

330. see no reason to stay down here without hot water

331. when it's something that I can easily fix.

332. A-ha!

333. I think this will do the trick.

334. You wouldn't happen to have a pocket knife or screwdriver

335. - in one of those bags, would you? - No.

336. What? Speak up.

337. No.

338. Come on.

339. There we go.

340. This should work.

341. Hey, you're a scientist, right?

342. So, uh, I have a question.

343. What would you do if you had a time machine?

344. A time machine?

345. Yeah.

346. From a scientist's point of view. You can go backwards, forwards...

347. Where would you go?

348. A meaningless question.

349. Time...

350. Time machine. Look.

351. Time travel. The kind of time travel that you're thinking of

352. is a scientific impossibility.

353. It would violate the second law of thermodynamics.

354. - But what about a wormhole? - O h!

355. Well, I was watching NOVA and Alan Alda seemed to think...

356. Oh, well, then, Alan Alda, he's the expert.

357. Oh, Christ. Are you kidding me?

358. Quantum mechanics? We're discussing that now?

359. Stay in your lane.

360. It's just a thought experiment.

361. There's gotta be something you'd go back and change if you could.

362. You are not...

363. talking about a time machine

364. which is both a real and theoretical impossibility.

365. You are talking about regrets.

366. So if you want to ask about regrets,

367. just ask about regrets

368. and leave all this time traveling nonsense out of it.

369. Okay. Regrets, then.

370. Regrets?

371. Yeah.

372. My regrets. All right, well...

373. My regrets.

374. Well...

375. When I was a graduate student,

376. I started a company with some...

377. At the time, I thought they were my friends.

378. Our goal was to commercialize discoveries that I had made.

379. And at a certain point...

380. I stepped away.

381. I thought I was doing the gentlemanly thing.

382. But little did I understand

383. that they were artfully maneuvering me

384. into leaving my own creation.

385. And had I stayed, oh...

386. Well...

387. I wouldn't be down here with you.

388. So you started a company? Is it still around?

389. Oh, yes.

390. Is it successful?

391. Very.

392. How could you never tell me about this?

393. We could have done something with this.

394. Wrongful termination.

395. Intellectual property theft.

396. Uh, patent fraud. I could've sunk my teeth into this.

397. You'd have been the last lawyer I'd have gone to.

398. Yeah, sure.

399. So, what about you?

400. Regrets.

401. Wait, I got one.

402. You know, never mind.

403. When I was 20, um, 22,

404. I pulled a slip-and-fall outside Marshall Field's. I did.

405. And I was stupid and young,

406. and I was trying to show off, so I hit the ice fast as I could.

407. I biffed it so hard I heard a crack.

408. Wasn't the ice. Was me.

409. I actually hurt myself.

410. I mean, I... My knee's never been the same.

411. A slip-and-fall?

412. Yeah, that's how I put myself through bartending school.

413. Right.

414. So...

415. So you were always like this?

416. I'm sorry.

417. Bill. Hey.

418. - I'm just going to... - Sir,

419. this man is a federal prisoner, I'm a U.S. Marshal.

420. I'm gonna ask you not to speak to him.

421. That's my lawyer.

422. - Is that true, you're his lawyer? - Yes.

423. You'll have other opportunities to talk.

424. - Please move out of the aisle. - Hold up.

425. Nothing I say in front of you is privileged, right?

426. - That's right. - So if I talk to my attorney

427. and let something slip that could help the government's case,

428. you could pass it along to the prosecution. Totally clean.

429. Correct.

430. With that in mind, you're sure we can't have a few words?

431. Make it fast.

432. She confessed.

433. What's the DA gonna do with it?

434. No witnesses, no physical evidence. If I had to guess...

435. Most likely they sit on it. Permanently.

436. Okay.

437. No. Not okay.

438. Not for her. Her problem's not the DA.

439. What, then?

440. Well, apparently, Kim took her sworn-and-notarized statement

441. and hand-delivered it to Hamlin's widow.

442. - No. - Yes.

443. She opened herself up to a civil suit.

444. The widow can take her for everything she has,

445. and everything she's gonna have, in perpetuity.

446. So is she suing?

447. All I can tell you for sure

448. is that Mrs. Hamlin's out lawyer shopping as we speak.

449. Not that she bothered to call me.

450. Hey, can I, uh, go to the john now?

451. I'm going.

452. Hold up, Bill. No, wait.

453. You're gonna love this. The Hamlin thing? Government doesn't know the half of it.

454. As soon as we land,

455. I want you to tell the other side that I've got more to trade.

456. I just remembered something that will make their toes curl.

457. Okay.

458. Anything that makes their toes curl is bound to jam Kim up.

459. If it involves her.

460. Oh, it involves her.

461. Kim's already got a civil suit hanging over her head.

462. You give the government more,

463. maybe they bring the hammer down.

464. What more are you gonna get? What's left?

465. You don't understand. It's really good ice cream.

466. Boys again?

467. Girls this time.

468. Well, she's not sleeping for a year or two.

469. At least. Is she coming back?

470. She'll have to.

471. - Josh is a twin, isn't he? - Oh, yeah.

472. And it's his birthday next week.

473. I always take him out, just the two of us, because he had to share everything.

474. - Nice. - It's either Red Lobster

475. or that new Middle Eastern place over on Wickham.

476. "Top" something?

477. - Topkapi. - That's it. Topkapi.

478. Glenn took you there, didn't he? What did you guys think?

479. Uh...

480. It wasn't...

481. Not good, huh?

482. No... No, it was fine.

483. Would Josh like it?

484. He might.

485. Okay. Another birthday at Red Lobster. He can live with that.

486. What do we get them for the shower? A stroller, right?

487. Yeah, one of the nice ones with the shock absorbers.

488. But twins? Won't they need a double stroller?

489. I think there was...

490. get her for you.

491. You too, Donny.

492. Seana?

493. Donny from TPC Sawgrass, line four.

494. Hey, Tammy. I'm leaving early. Can you let Ricardo know?

495. - Sure. No prob. - Thanks.

496. Palm Coast Sprinkler. Watering your world since 1978...

497. if you say no.

498. That's the law. Okay?

499. If he shows up, you keep that door locked.

500. You call the police and then you call me.

501. Any time, day or night. Okay?

502. - Okay. - I'll see you Thursday.

503. Let me know if you need me to pick you up.

504. - Thank you. - Okay.

505. Ladies, it's right this way. Sorry about the heat.

506. AC's on the fritz.

507. Fill this out. And before you ask, there's no charge.

508. All our services are free.

509. Oh, actually I'm here to see if I can volunteer.

510. - You want to volunteer? - Yes.

511. Can you answer a phone?

512. Sure.

513. Then there you go.

514. Central Florida Legal Aid. How can I help you?

515. - Hello? - Kim?

516. Yes?

517. This is Suzanne Ericsen.

518. Hi, Suzanne.

519. I want to make it clear this call is completely unofficial.

520. All right.

521. I shouldn't even be talking to you. But considering everything,

522. I think it's only right you know what's going on.

523. You've seen the news?

524. I don't think so.

525. Your ex, Saul Goodman?

526. He was arrested in Nebraska.

527. He's been extradited to New Mexico.

528. - When was this? - Two days ago.

529. But that's not why I'm calling.

530. He's giving testimony that affects you. Personally.

531. What kind of testimony?

532. It's showtime.

533. All rise for the Right Honorable Judge Samantha Small.

534. Court's now in session. Please take a seat.

535. Okay, item one on the calendar,

536. CR 10-7253, United States of America v...

537. Defendant has requested to use the name Saul Goodman.

538. So it's United States v. Saul Goodman.

539. Counsel, please state your appearances.

540. George Castellano.

541. With me is Elizabeth Nooryani,

542. trial attorney from the Drug Enforcement section

543. of the Department of Justice.

544. AUSAs Sarah Braddock, Neel Patel, and Hillary Park

545. and Special Agent in Charge Austin Ramey from the DEA.

546. Also present in the courtroom, Zachary Hernandez,

547. Special Agent in Charge of the FBI in New Mexico.

548. Your Honor, I'd also like to note the presence of the victims

549. who are here this morning, Marie Schrader and Blanca Gomez.

550. William Oakley appearing as advisory counsel.

551. Saul Goodman appearing on his own behalf.

552. Good morning.

553. The defendant still wants to represent himself?

554. That's right, Your Honor.

555. Okay.

556. The parties have reached a plea agreement satisfactory to both sides.

557. However, I have reviewed the government sentencing recommendations

558. and, well, I have questions.

559. Mr. Castellano, will you please come up to the microphone?

560. Mr. Castellano, today, we consider the sentence for a defendant

561. who will be pleading guilty to multiple felonies, RICO offenses,

562. money laundering conspiracy,

563. accessory after the fact to the murder of federal officers.

564. And for these offenses, the government's sentencing recommendation

565. is seven years.

566. Your Honor, I can assure you my colleagues and I gave every aspect

567. of this recommendation careful consideration.

568. Help me understand.

569. Has the defendant provided substantial assistance to the government?

570. Your Honor.

571. Mr. Oakley, please advise your client to stay silent at this time.

572. Your Honor, with respect, Mr. Oakley is advisory counsel.

573. I'm representing myself here today.

574. If I may say something that I think will help the court

575. fully understand the situation.

576. Mr. Goodman.

577. You are the beneficiary of the most generous

578. sentencing recommendation I've seen in 22 years on the bench.

579. Any statement you make imperils that recommendation.

580. I'm very aware of that, Your Honor.

581. If you'll allow me to speak,

582. I think I can save the court's valuable time.

583. Go ahead, briefly.

584. Two years ago, a man came into my office,

585. he said his name was Mayhew.

586. He wanted one of my clients to lie for him under oath.

587. He offered me money.

588. I refused.

589. That night as I was leaving my office, I was attacked.

590. A bag was shoved over my head.

591. I was hogtied.

592. I was driven out into the desert.

593. When they pulled the hood off,

594. I was kneeling in front of an open grave

595. with a gun pointed at my head.

596. That was my introduction to Walter White.

597. I was terrified.

598. But not for long.

599. That night I saw opportunity.

600. A shot at big money,

601. and I grabbed it and I held it tight.

602. And for the next 16 months,

603. my every waking moment was spent building

604. Walter White's drug empire.

605. Hold on, Mr. Goodman, stop right there.

606. Consult Mr. Oakley before you say another word.

607. Your Honor, I believe the court deserves the whole truth.

608. You are contradicting your plea agreement's sworn factual basis.

609. No offense, Your Honor,

610. but I think I know the law here better than you do.

611. Your Honor, we'd like to request a recess.

612. No, we do not need a recess.

613. Your Honor, we are satisfied for Mr. Goodman to continue.

614. Your Honor, I'd like to petition to withdraw from this case.

615. Denied.

616. Respectfully...

617. Not a chance.

618. Bobbi, swear Mr. Goodman in.

619. Do you swear that the evidence

620. you shall give to the court in this matter shall be the truth, the whole truth,

621. and nothing but the truth, so help you God?

622. I do.

623. Mr. Goodman, you are now under oath.

624. Any false statement you make can be used in prosecution for perjury,

625. or obstruction of justice.

626. - Do you understand? - Yes.

627. All right.

628. In the last 24 hours, have you used any alcohol or other drugs?

629. No, Your Honor.

630. Are you taking any prescription medications?

631. No.

632. All right.

633. Continue.

634. Oh. Um...

635. I lied to the government about, uh, Kim Wexler.

636. Uh, I fed them a load of BS about her involvement

637. in Howard Hamlin's murder.

638. I just wanted her to come here today.

639. I wanted her to hear this.

640. So, yeah, I wasn't there when the meth was cooked.

641. I wasn't there when it was sold.

642. I didn't witness any of the murders, but I damn well knew what was happening.

643. I was more than a willing participant.

644. I was indispensable.

645. I kept Walter White out of jail.

646. I laundered his money.

647. I lied for him.

648. I conspired with him and I made millions.

649. If he hadn't walked into my office that day,

650. Walter White would have been dead or behind bars within a month.

651. And Agent Schrader and Agent Gomez and a whole lot of other people

652. would still be alive.

653. Fact is Walter White couldn't have done it without me.

654. You got that?

655. Your Honor, we move to strike Mr. Goodman's comments.

656. - On what grounds? - Uh, speculation.

657. Speculation?

658. He's testifying to his own actions.

659. Your Honor, uh, he's describing events that would have transpired

660. had he acted differently.

661. - I have one more thing to say. - Sit down, Mr. Goodman.

662. - Please, Your Honor. Please. - Now.

663. The government urges the court

664. to allow Mr. Goodman to continue.

665. How is that not speculation?

666. All right, Mr. Goodman.

667. Go ahead.

668. What happened to Howard Hamlin,

669. it was...

670. It was...

671. I can't even...

672. After that, Kim had the guts to start over.

673. She left town. But...

674. I'm the one who ran away.

675. And my brother Chuck.

676. Charles McGill.

677. You may have known him.

678. He was an incredible lawyer, the most brilliant guy I ever met.

679. But he was limited.

680. I tried.

681. I could have tried harder.

682. I should have.

683. Instead...

684. - Your Honor... - Bill, please.

685. Just let me get through this.

686. Instead, when I saw a chance to hurt him,

687. I took it.

688. I got his malpractice insurance canceled.

689. I took away the one thing he lived for: the law.

690. After that he killed himself.

691. And I'll live with that.

692. What was all that?

693. That thing with your brother, that wasn't even a crime.

694. - It was. - Mr. Goodman.

695. Sit down and stay seated.

696. The name's McGill.

697. I'm James McGill.

698. Your Honor, in view

699. - of the defendant's confession... - We'd like a recess.

700. Hold on. That was not a confession.

701. the government urges this court to impose the statutory maximum...

702. It was merely a point of view in a very complex narrative.

703. to assess the additional claims Mr. Goodman... I'm sorry, Mr. McGill,

704. has now admitted to, including perjury on this court.

705. Did you ground yourself?

706. Yes, I did.

707. Oh, crap.

708. I was starting to worry.

709. My car conked out on the 40.

710. I almost got creamed by a cement truck.

711. Oh, um...

712. They had those apples that you like.

713. I got you half a dozen Fuji.

714. Um, and the newsstand on Central said

715. they might start carrying the Financial Times.

716. So that's good, right?

717. What?

718. You know I could hire someone to do this.

719. I could get someone from the office.

720. I'm doing it.

721. Yeah, every day?

722. While you're trying to start a practice?

723. Why?

724. Why?

725. Because you're my brother, duh.

726. You'd do the same for me.

727. Well, you could stay for a while. We could talk.

728. Talk. What about?

729. Your cases, your clients?

730. You want to talk about my clients?

731. Seriously, you want to talk about, uh, the granny who got picked up

732. for soliciting inside a Christian Science Reading Room?

733. What about the kid who broke into a liquor store

734. and drank five bottles of crème de menthe and then passed out behind the counter?

735. They deserve a vigorous defense like any other client.

736. Or maybe you just want to tell me what I'm doing wrong.

737. That's not what I had in mind.

738. I'm hoping you didn't steal that from a motel ice machine.

739. You know, I'm gonna take a pass on the heart-to-heart, Chuck.

740. One of my deserving clients, he got caught waving the weenie

741. outside of Hobby Lobby.

742. Hold on, you gotta reimburse yourself.

743. - Uh-uh, this one's on me. - Jimmy.

744. If you don't like where you're heading, there is no shame in going back

745. and changing your path.

746. Uh, when have you ever changed your path?

747. Hey, think on it.

748. We always end up having the same conversation, don't we?

749. I'll see you tomorrow, Chuck.

750. And I might have the Financial Times.

751. I know you?

752. Hey.

753. "Better call Saul," right?

754. McGill.

755. What?

756. I'm McGill.

757. Don't give me that.

758. You're Saul.

759. Hey, it's Better Call Saul.

760. No shit.

761. Back here, yo.

762. Back here.

763. See? Told you.

764. It's Better Call Saul.

765. All right. Better Call Saul.

766. Okay.

767. Yeah.

768. Better Call Saul.

769. Better Call Saul.

770. Better Call Saul.

771. i Better Call Saul.

772. Better Call Saul.

773. Better Call Saul.

774. - Better Call Saul. - Shut up.

775. - Better Call Saul. - I said, shut up.

776. - Better Call Saul. - Shut the hell up.

777. Better Call Saul.

778. Better Call Saul.

779. Better Call...

780. Saul.

781. Lawyer's here.

782. I got you, Saul.

783. Ma'am.

784. No cuffs, please.

785. Thank you.

786. Hi, Jimmy.

787. Hi.

788. How did you...?

789. Uh, turns out my New Mexico bar card doesn't have an expiration date.

790. You had them down to seven years.

791. Yeah, I did.

792. Eighty-six years.

793. Eighty-six years.

794. But...

795. with good behavior, who knows?

796. Hey, here we go, here we go.
